I typically have a pretty good command of things that are going on around us. Our whole mantra is breaking news, what to make of it all. This show is described as a fast-paced, entertaining, unpredictable way to… wrap our brains around the day’s headlines. I’m trying to understand the Dignity Act. I just had a conversation with my producer that is one of the craziest conversations I’ve had in 45 years of doing this. I almost accused Tracy of deliberately deceiving me. It’s her job to give me material and to provide… for the things we talk about. And there’s all this debate and drama over the Dignity Act, except it’s not really called the Dignity Act. It’s called the Dignidad Act. And I said to Tracy, can you find out why it’s called the Dignidad Act? And Tracy’s explanation made me think that Tracy needs a vacation. I said, Tracy, you’re making this up. Please don’t give me something from the Babylon Bee. Don’t go to a comedy site to explain what the Dignidad Act, co-sponsored by Maria Elvira Salazar and Veronica Escobar. Maria Elvira Salazar is a Republican congresswoman from Florida. Veronica Escobar is a Democrat from Texas. They’ve co-sponsored the Dignidad Act. Now, if you’d like to speak English, it’s called the Dignity, it’s referred to as the Dignity Act. They’re pretending it’s not amnesty, but it’s like literally amnesty. And they’re pretending it’s not amnesty. So anyway, I asked Tracy, well, can you tell me what the origin is of Dignidad? Because I looked it up somewhere and I thought Dignidad is Spanish for dignity. And I’m thinking, why would a couple of American Congresswomen name an act that grants amnesty to millions of illegals, why would they use the Spanish word for dignity? But no, wait, there’s more. Here’s Tracy’s explanation. Now, again, if I need to have Tracy committed, let me know, because I’ll get the guy with the butterfly net to come get Tracy and take her away. My producer claims that Dignidad is an acronym, D-I-G-N-I-D-A-D, and it’s a deliberate acronym for the bill’s official title, which is… Dignity for immigrants while guarding our nation to ignite and deliver the American dream. Dignidad. Now, either Tracy’s hitting the sauce early or this country is losing its marbles. We’ve got a bunch of Republicans who are lining up behind the Dignidad Act of 2025. They don’t even put it in English. And it’s an acronym. Let me read it to you one more time. And incidentally, to our Spanish-speaking friends, can somebody text me or call me and tell me if Dignidad is the Spanish word for dignity? I think it may be. That’s what I saw. But Tracy says it’s an acronym. I mean, it might be both. Maybe they wanted to spell out this convoluted, ridiculous, asinine, you know, name. Dignity for immigrants while guarding our nation to ignite and deliver the American dream. Let’s see. Dignity for immigrants, there’s the D-I, while guarding, there’s the G, our nation, there’s the N, to ignite, that’s the I, and deliver, that’s the D, the American dream, A-D. Dignidad. Get it? Get it? Isn’t that clever? Dignidad. Gosh, they’re so smart, this Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar. You are so smart. Gosh, Representative Escobar, you are so clever. Dignidad. It’s catchy. It’s wonderful. And it does a few little fun little things like mass amnesty. It does some things like not even mandate that people who are convicted of DUI get deported. You ought to see the nuggets in the Dignidad Act. I’m telling you, there are people in the Republican Party who desperately want us to lose the midterm elections. There are people who loathe President Trump so much that call themselves Republicans that they deliberately want us to lose. They want a path for illegals to stay here. I mean, and the pushback is amazing. We’re trying to get Brandon Gill back on the show. We’ve got some calls out to Congressman Brandon Gill. There are insane things. Breonna Lyman over at The Federalist read through the bill, as did I. There are eight things that are beyond insane. How about student loan forgiveness? for lawyers who provide free legal services to illegals. How about bringing illegals back who have been deported? How about exempt? Aliens would be exempt from Social Security Medicare payroll taxes. How about a halt to the mass deportation? This is all in the Dignidad Act. Permanent residency. A loophole that basically gives illegals a green card. I mean, how about this? Illegals with a DUI or DWI can stay. Mike Lawler, who is a New York Republican, and New York Republicans, well, they’re just a little bit of a different breed. Okay? Did you see him with Laura Ingraham the other night? Oh, boy. Did she eviscerate him? It was rough. And he apparently had no idea that this bill that he supports allows for illegals convicted of DUI to stay in the country. Even multiple DUIs. Thank you, incidentally, to all the Spanish-speaking members of our audience confirming that, yes, Dignidad is Spanish for dignity. So they’ve managed to tie in the acronym and the Spanish word. You know one of the biggest complaints we get about the Mike Gallagher show from people who watch or listen to us on various digital platforms? The all-Spanish commercials. You do understand we have nothing to do with that. I’ve got no say in that. My team has nothing to do with that. And I get that it’s infuriating. It’s irritating. This is through these third-party providers that deliver the platforms, and we are on a gazillion platforms, Salem News Channel and all these different podcasts, Triton and this and Apple podcast. We’re everywhere, right? And the nature of now the spoken word format is that with all of these formats, you have a bunch of format providers, right? And a lot of these format providers, they take the show, but then they insert commercials that we have nothing to do with. You think we’re selling Spanish language commercials? Now, look, I mean, you could make the case, I guess, that the advertiser wants to reach a Spanish-speaking person who is watching or listening to the Mike Gallagher show, but I would argue, well, how are they understanding the rest of the show? Why does the commercial need to be in Spanish when they’re listening to an English-speaking talk show host? So, look, make it make sense. I don’t get it. But I don’t get a lot of things that are going on right now. How about Melania Trump’s press conference yesterday? You want to start there? You want to take a crack at that? Because you’re smarter than I am, I guess. In fact, let’s do that. I have never had any knowledge of Epstein abuse of his victims. I was never involved in any capacity. I was not a participant, was never on Epstein’s plane, and never visited his private island. I have never been legally accused or convinced of a crime in connection with Epstein’s sex trafficking, abuse of minors, and other repulsive behavior. The false smears about me from mean-spirited and politically motivated individuals and entities looking to cause damage to my good name, to gain financially and climb politically, must stop. My attorneys and I have fought these unfound and baseless lies with success and will continue to maintain my sound reputation without hesitation. Wow. Now, the most troubling aspect of that press conference for me… Is the reporting maybe true? They had all those conservative influencers showed up at the White House, and they were given files, and there was nothing really in the files. So they’re like, well, that’s a dud. Well, what do podcasters who’ve decided to turn against Trump in a pretty profound way, what about their reputation? I often wonder about folks who have… been squarely in President Trump’s corner for years, but have turned against him over Iran. Now, my theory, as you know, is that it has a lot to do with Israel. I believe that the Megyn Kelly’s and the Tucker Carlson’s of the world are are furious that the United States has basically partnered with Israel to take on the evil Iranian regime. And that’s a bridge too far for these people. I also believe that the more provocative they are, the more money they make. So a lot of it has to do with the monetization formula of digital media. It’s a real simple formula. The more engagements, the more people plugged in, the more money they make. And in some cases, they’re making a ton of money. There are some folks that are apparently making many, many, many millions of dollars a year. So finally, President Trump had enough. Just like Melania, Trump evidently had enough of being falsely accused of being involved with Epstein. Trump had enough of the podcasters. So Sean Farish, very funny guy who’s got a podcast, and he does a spot-on Trump impersonation. He read Trump’s Truth Social post as Donald Trump. Now, keep in mind, though, as you’re hearing his very funny impersonation, his very accurate impersonation, I should say, keep in mind every word was written not by Sean Farish himself, but by President Trump himself.

I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the number one state sponsor of terror, to have a nuclear weapon because they have one thing in common. Low IQs. They’re stupid people. They know it. Their families know it. And everyone else knows it, too. Look at their past. Look at their record. They don’t have what it takes, and they never did. They’ve all been thrown off of television, lost their shows, and aren’t even invited on TV because nobody cares about them. They’re nutjobs, troublemakers, and will say anything necessary for some free and cheap publicity. Now they think they get some clicks because they have third rate podcasts, but nobody’s talking about them. And their views are the opposite of MAGA or I wouldn’t have won the presidential election in a landslide. MAGA agrees with me and just gave CNN a 100% approval rating of Trump, not hand flailing fools like Tucker Carlson, who couldn’t even finish college. He was a broken man when he got fired from Fox and he’s never been the same. Perhaps he should see a good psychiatrist or Megyn Kelly, who nastily asked me the now famous only Rosie O’Donnell question. Or crazy Candace Owens, who accuses the highly respected first lady of France of being a man when she is not and will hopefully win lots of money in the ongoing lawsuit. Actually, to me, the first lady of France is a far more beautiful woman than Candace. In fact, it’s not even close. Or bankrupt Alex Jones, who says some of the dumbest things and lost his entire fortune. as he should have, for his horrendous attack on the families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims, ridiculously claiming it was a hoax. These so-called pundits are losers, and they always will be. Now, Fake News CNN, the failing New York Times, and all of the other radical left news organizations are hailing them and giving them positive press for the first time in their lives. They’re not MAGA. They’re losers just trying to latch on to MAGA. As president, I could get them on my side anytime I want to. But when they call, I don’t return their calls because I’m too busy on world and country affairs. And after a few times, they go nasty, just like Marjorie Trader Brown. But I no longer care about that stuff. I only care about doing right for our country. MAGA is about winning and strength in not allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons. MAGA is about making America great again. And these people have no idea how to do that. But I do because the United States is now the hottest country anywhere in the world. President Donald J. Okay, so again, even though that message was delivered by a Trump impersonator, those were his words. And man, oh man, he did not hold anything back, did he? Basically referring to all four of them as having been kicked off of various platforms before they went independent. Now, from their perspective… They’re probably making more money, I guess, independent. I don’t know. I don’t know the fortunes of Megyn Kelly or, you know, Megyn Kelly left Fox to go to NBC. Then NBC fired her, I guess. And then she went off to become an independent podcaster and I think is doing very well. Tucker Carlson was fired from Fox News. And it was such a big deal, I was on vacation in London, and I thought, man, I want to get on the air and get everybody’s reaction to Tucker, because Tucker, back in the day, was my go-to Fox News show. For me, Tucker Carlson’s show, while it was on Fox News, was the best hour of television. Smart, irreverent, funny. And I honestly don’t know what has happened to these people. I just don’t get it. I think a lot of it has to do with Israel. And I keep saying that to you, but I want to see if you think I’m right. In fact, I think Israel is the whole reason they’ve turned on Trump. What else could it be? Because they could turn on him over anything. The border? cost of living, inflation, whatever, pick something, gas prices. But they’ve turned on him over Iran, and yep, I believe that maybe any kind of foreign intervention bothers them, but it’s the foreign intervention that we’re conducting with Israel. that infuriates them, so much so that they have decided to turn against the man that I think many of them have been welcomed in the past with open arms. I believe they’ve been to the White House. I know that Trump has been on Alex Jones’ show. Megyn Kelly sat down with him. I don’t know about Candace. Certainly Tucker Carlson had a very cozy relationship with Trump, but now all four of them have turned against him Viciously, and he had a vicious response, as you just heard from impressionist Sean Farish. I know there’s a lot of breaking news and plenty of headlines that we want to tackle today, and we have and we will. We’ve got this ridiculous Dignidad amnesty bill that is beyond appalling. You’ve got Republicans who are conspiring with Democrats to grant mass amnesty. You’ve got the First Lady, Melania Trump, who went scorched earth on efforts to tie her to Jeffrey Epstein. There’s just an awful lot happening. But I want to take a couple of minutes to tell you a little bit about an interview I watched on a platform that I’ve never really spent a lot of time on, the New York Times podcast platform. There’s a conservative. He’s a conservative by the New York Times standards. Okay, so he’s right of center. Ross Douthat sat down with former Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse. And I will tell you right now, it’s an interview that you should watch every second of. Now, I know right off the bat you’re going to say, wasn’t Ben Sasse… one of the original never-Trumpers, and he was. He’s a guy who really went after Trump big time. I believe he even voted for impeachment. So politically, you’re probably not going to be aligned with Ben Sasse. He’s of the belief that our politics has gotten too vitriolic, that it’s too tribal. I think he fancies himself a guy that’s kind of a moderate in the middle of the road. He left the Senate when it became apparent that his own constituency didn’t approve of the way he turned on Trump. And then he became a college president here in Florida. He was only there for about a year and a half or so. His wife evidently had some health challenges, so he resigned from that position. And then a few months ago, he revealed that he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. And he announced that it is a death sentence, that he is probably months away from dying. But rather than retreat and just kind of feel sorry for himself, He is giving interviews and being very public about his final perhaps months on earth. And despite disagreeing with him politically, I was so moved by this interview yesterday that I wanted to share this. a clip from the interview. I almost thought to play the whole thing for you because it’s powerful. And he doesn’t go after Trump in the interview. He doesn’t even go after really MAGA or Republicans and voters who support the Trump agenda. He does allude to the tribalism and the volatile nature of today’s political climate. But what really mattered to me was talking about what it means to know that you’ve been given a diagnosis that will probably result in your death in a matter of months. Now, I want to warn you, if you’re watching on Salem News Channel, it’s difficult to watch. Because the medication, the drugs that he’s currently taking to battle his late-stage pancreatic cancer has evidently caused him to bleed, sort of hemorrhage. And his face in this interview, I want to warn you in advance, is, well, caked with blood. Somebody posted yesterday a picture of… ben sass in this interview and said this is the face of christ this is a man who is living while dying this is a man who is courageous this is a man and and he’s not calling ben sass christ i mean i don’t want you to overreact to that But it was an interesting observation just based on the physical nature of Ben’s condition right now. So again, if you’re watching today on Salem News Channel, I don’t want you to be surprised by his appearance. It’s difficult. And he alludes to this in the interview. And he’s got incredible, an amazing, cheerful countenance. Look, I don’t know how you’ll react when your time comes. I don’t know how I’ll react when my time comes. I’d like to believe that I would possess the strength, the dignity, the courage, the clarity, and the spirituality of Ben Sasse. I am tremendously grateful. impacted by this conversation. It is not how things are meant to be. But it is great that death can be called the final enemy. It’s an enemy, but it’s a final enemy, and there will then be no more tears. I believe in the resurrection, and I believe in a restoration of this world. And so I did not… feel great fear about my death. I didn’t want the pain I was going through. I didn’t want to be a pansy ass, you know, in the final moments. You’re doing okay right now. I am doing so far. Oh, thank you. But I did immediately feel um regrets about a lot of misprioritization you jokingly referred earlier to my podcast which takes its line from monty python not dead yet um we’re all on the clock and i um wanted to have prioritized better. And whether I really only had three or four months left, or if I get nine to 12 months left, I want to prioritize better from then. But in my tradition, in Christianity, the need for daily repentance is just a truth. I am broken. I leave undone those things which I ought to have done. And I do those things which I have not done. You know what? Morphine. And there is no health in us. And I get to repent every day of both my sins of omission and commission. And yet, at a slightly bigger level, if you’re only going to get three or four months, you really want to get some of your affairs in order. And my boy was only 14, and I felt a heaviness. I knew that God wasn’t surprised by the diagnosis. There is not a maverick molecule in the universe. But I didn’t like the idea of my 14-year-old son not having a dad around at 16. I didn’t like the idea of my daughters, who are 22 and 24, not having their dad there to welcome down the aisle. And I felt a real heaviness about that. But I’ve continued to feel a peace about the fact that death is something that we should hate. We should call it a wicked thief. And yet it’s pretty good that you pass through the veil of tears one time and then there will be no more tears. There will be no more cancer. Can I ask? How you think your kids are processing the experience? They have a great mom and they are theologically rooted and their hope is in Jesus. And they all three are doing really well. My girls are 22 and 24. And I know that our conversations are the true and accurate conversations. My 14 year old son is gritty enough and tough enough that I think even if he wasn’t doing well, he could probably fake it. So I don’t fully know. So I covet prayers on that. But he seems to be doing well.

I covet prayers. Well, you know what? I think that the country is praying for you and your family and the country appreciates your strength and your dignity. And there are a couple of reminders, I think, that emanate from that Ben Sasse conversation. And again, it’s about a half hour, 45 minutes long. I think the whole interview is embedded in my post on X at Gallagher’s show. A couple of things that are important. Number one, remember the things that matter. Your family, your faith. Remember the things that truly count. He talked in the interview about one of his big regrets being on the road all the time when his kids were growing up, not spending enough time with his wife and children. He is obviously a deeply faith-filled man. And I am so impressed by his ability to articulate his faith the way he does. So, number one, that’s one of the big takeaways. And the other takeaway is, politically, you probably don’t agree with him. The guy despises Trump. He hates MAGA. He does not like the political movement that Donald Trump began. I think there’s a takeaway there that reveals how we shouldn’t hate somebody because because we disagree with them politically. And that’s hard to do in the climate we’re in right now. You know, they’re coming after us. We’re going at them. There’s a lot of harsh, ugly rhetoric being used. There are people turning on each other. We’ve got podcasters turning on Trump, and we’ve got Republicans coming up with amnesty bills. It’s a tough time. But We don’t have to hate people because we don’t see eye to eye politically. Because I loved what that man had to say to Ross Douthat. I love that man’s message. And I have a tremendous appreciation and respect for Ben Sasse himself. and what he’s delivering to anybody who wants to listen to him. Do I disagree with him about politics? You bet I do. Does that mean I have to hate him? Sorry, I can’t and I won’t. And I think it’s a life lesson that can result from an honest, good faith absorption of what he had to say. 18 minutes past the hour.
