Gideons International has been a blessing to hotels, jails, and hospitals since 1899, but one hospital CEO is causing a ruckus in rural Georgia. CEO Scott Steiner, who became the CEO of Phoebe Putney Health System in 2019 has barred the Gideons from distributing at their hospitals. Steiner, who advocates for DEI throughout the system and is a member of the Georgia Diversity Council, has completely cut ties with the charitable organization.
According to Conservative News Daily, the Gideons’ longstanding relationship with Phoebe crumbled under the weight of the pandemic. While initial restrictions were tied to COVID-19 precautions, attempts to reestablish Bible distributions were met with resistance, citing a breach of DEI policy.
Gideon International has distributed over 2 BILLION bibles internationally, most notably in hotels and jails, but also in hospitals and many other areas. In Phoebe Putney hospitals, they’ve had a relationship for years and until the COVID debacle they have never had an issue with distribution there. When the Gideon International organization reached out to the CEO and “Chief Diversity Officer” Jennifer Williams, they were told that their work is “a violation of the DEI policy and they would no longer be allowed” into the Phoebe facilities, according to a source for the Dailywire news organization.
The source who broke the news to the Dailywire states that it is clearly anti-Christian, and the fact that Jennifer Williams and Scott Steiner are close-lipped on it, makes it appear so as well.
Religious liberty is a cornerstone of American democracy, and the Gideons are a 125 year-old signpost to that. The reasons that Mr Steiner and Ms Williams have for waging a war on that liberty are not readily apparent, but it serves as an illustration of exactly how misguided some or all of these programs really are. Medical organizations across the nation have been under increasing scrutiny, as they place more importance on the color of one’s skin than on the merit or content of ones character. Under Williams’ direction, Phoebe Health has begun tracking how much they spend on diverse local vendors, which equates to giving contracts based on race.
Many other universities, the epicenters of these blatantly racist practices by demonized democrats, where website Higher Ed Drive reported that hospitals are making employees sign “DEI Loyalty Oaths”, which are tantamount to segregation in medical facilities. One Wisonsin Rep said “There’s an ideology that says if I’m a Native American, I’d rather have a doctor that maybe got 30 or 40 points lower on the MCAT [Medical College Admission Test] but who is a Native American, rather than an Asian doctor who did superior on the MCATs…You have to be really a sicko to think that’s what we should operate our medical system on.”
Colleges across the country have come under fire for these blatantly anti-Christian policies, and most colleges now days try with all of their might to remove Christian teaching. The only thing keeping them from that move is religious liberty.
In addition to colleges and medical institutions, DEI has snuck into industries who are responsible for public safety, like the FAA and airlines. Conservative idol Matt Walsh says “DEI is destroying the airline industry, and lots of people will die because of it,” and went on to point out that since 2013 there has been a 100% increase in near misses in the air and on the tarmac. Of course, liberals spring into action when they hear this. They of course can’t have real equality when special rights can be given to what they call “marginalized” people.
But should we sacrifice TRUE equality on the altar of wokeness and in favor of segregation and what they call EQUITY? Equity, if you were not aware, means manipulating the input to get the same output, and it’s the polar opposite of equality. It means that people who have advantages, whatever they may be, should sacrifice some part of themselves in order to make others feel like they too have that advantage. That sounds dangerously close to “dumbing it down” to many people. We are all made in God’s image and each one of us has uniqueness and privilages, some more than others, but we will all gain our equity in heaven with the treasures we store up. Also, ironically in adopting these so called equality features, we will become LESS diverse, and see less diversity of THOUGHT, which is far more important; although not nearly as important as MERIT. It’s enough to make your head spin.
