So all anyone is talking about right now in the mainstream media circus is the foul against the WNBA’s star player, Indiana Fever’s point guard Caitlin Clark by obviously tremendously sportsmanlike Chicago SKy player Chennedy Carter (I hope you understand sarcasm).
Chennedy’s obvious flagrant foul was for some reason ignored by the ref until it was later upgraded by the league to a flagrant foul with absolutely no consequences whatsoever for Chennedy Carter.
Since she’s obviously not jealous at all about Caitlin’s newfound fame, she’s responded to the questions in true sportsmanlike fashion, doubling down on the move. And surprisingly, her coach has backed her up. Viewers and fans as expected have tried to bring racism into the conversation, however the most obvious racism isn’t the way they’d like it to go.
At the end of the day most of us know what would happen if their roles were reversed, Clark would have been fined to oblivion and probably suspended. That in mind, Chennedy also claims that Clark is “more marketable because she’s white”, which is laughable.
This whole incident just exposes the lie behind the WNBA narrative in the mainstream media today. They don’t want better basketball or more revenue. They want more controversy and cheap views because they think that’s going to lead to those other two things. Eventually that will peter out and they’ll be left with what they’ve always had: some great players and die hard fans who just enjoy the game FOR the game, and are a part of a niche and cohesive group of basketball fans that consider themselves a family.
Check out the self-proclaimed “competitive” Clark’s foul and judge for yourself:
Chalk Talk Commentary:
There’s a difference between tough defense and unnecessary— targeting actions! It needs to stop! The league needs to “ cleanup” the crap! That’s NOT who this league is!! https://t.co/jI0xgTPfrC
