Tanner’s Tumultuous NFL Picks – Week 2 ๐Ÿˆ

Well, well, well, I went 6-10 this weekend, but I mean who didnโ€™t? The crazy upsets made it very difficult for anyone to pick correctly. The NFL upsets have already started just in Week 2, and at an astounding rate. Obviously, there will be upsets every week, but I chose mostly favorites thinking thatโ€™s what hurt me Week 1, and boy was I wrong.ย

There were seven outright upsets. Meaning, seven of 16 games were upsets, which is almost half the NFL. The most glaring was the 49ers losing to injury-bugged Minnesota Vikings. The 49ers are also injured, however with their elite coaching and great players at every position, most thought this wouldnโ€™t even be close.ย

The second major upset was the Saints dismantling the Cowboys. The Saints are rolling with 91 points in just two games. New offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, has learned from his father Gary and many other great coaches and coordinators. He has turned Derek Carr into a top-10 quarterback, which no one has ever said

Another big upset was the Las Vegas Raiders upsetting the Baltimore Ravens and sending them to an 0-2 record.ย

The Ravens seem to be lacking weapons for Lamar, and were unable to close out a game in which they were up double digits in the 4th quarter. Tua went down with another concussion, the game was almost over, and I wonโ€™t dive into to that too much, but so sad to see that unravel for someone who has dedicated their life to this sport.

The Lions lost to the Buccaneers which most people were shocked by, but those Bucs were eager for revenge after losing to Detroit in the playoffs.ย

And, I am sorry Broncos fans, but Bo Nix needs more help on offense. It also did not help that Greg Dulcich was dropping passes left and right.ย

Letโ€™s look at what Week 3 has in store for us!

Patriots @ Jets (-6): Thurs. 6:15p โ€“ The Patriots are shockingly a team you cannot steamroll. We saw the Bengals in Week 1 lose, and they took the Seahawks to overtime. Jarod Mayo is already my front-runner for coach of the year. The Jets are still figuring it out with Aaron Rodgers under center, but their defense doesnโ€™t look as invincible as they claimed they were. Jets win in primetime 21-17

Giants @ Browns (-6): Sun. 11:00a โ€“ We know the Giants suck; poor quarterback and O-line play will always make it incredibly difficult to win a game in the NFL. The Giants will hopefully have a kicker this week, so they hopefully wonโ€™t lose by eight field goals! The Browns beat the Jaguars, but Trevor Lawerence has not looked solid whatsoever. I think the Browns are too talented to lose, even though Deshaun Watson is holding them back.ย

Browns win 24-16

Packers @ Titans (-3): Sun. 11:00a โ€“ The Tians look solid until quarterback, Will Levis, decides to make a superman-type boneheaded play. In both their first games, the Titans were either leading or tied until Levis threw a terrible pick six and then a terrible falling-down fumble toss. The packers ran the ball over 50 times versus the Colts and were able to pull out a win. Big thanks to their defense for three interceptions. The Packers want to limit their backup, Malik Willis, because letโ€™s face it he is barely an NFL quarterback. Titans win 21-17

Bears @ Colts (-1): Sun. 11:00a โ€“ The Bears offense has obviously been struggling, and you can say the run game and O-line arenโ€™t helping Caleb Williams or you could say Caleb Williams isnโ€™t helping his team. The defense is playing well enough for them to be 2-0. The Colts are shockingly 0-2. I think the Colts are a slightly stronger team that has been playing together for a season. I think Colts win 21-17ย  ย ย

Texans (-2.5) @ Vikings: Sun. 11:00a โ€“ The Vikings may have been the biggest shock thus far this season. They are 2-0 and beat the defending NFC champs, the 49ers. The Vikings have Sam Darnold at quarterback who has never really become what a second overall pick looks like. The Texans look like they are one of the top five teams in the NFL. They almost seemed to coast to a win over the Bears and beat their in division rival the Colts in a thrilling game. The Texans are very talented and extremely well coached, based off that Texans 31-21

Eagles @ Saints (-2.5): Sun. 11:00a โ€“ The Saints are the number one team right now purely based off their scoring. They also beat the Cowboys who are a perennial playoff team by 25 points. The Saints have scored on their first 15 drives with Derek Carr under center. And like I said before the Saints offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, has made Derek Carr and MVP candidate early. The Eagles shouldโ€™ve beaten the Falcons but generated no pressure on Cousins and the defense let up big plays to end the game. The Eagles should be better with all of their young talent. Saints win 27-20

Chargers @ Steelers (-1): Sun. 11:00a โ€“ This will be one of if not the lowest scoring game. The Chargers are focused on Harbaugh ball and the Steelers are focused on defense. The Chargersโ€™ rushing attack must be as productive as they have been the last two weeks to beat the scary Steelers defense. This game will be boring for sure and as a Chargers fan I might not watch. Steelers win 17-13

Broncos @ Buccaneers (-6.5): Sun. 11:00a โ€“ There is no way the Broncos can beat a good team unless the Buccaneers turn the ball over more than two times. The Broncos are in an entire rebuild, while the Buccaneers are looking to contend for the NFC crown. The Buccaneers look great and the Broncos look awful. Bo Nix NEEDS more help! Buccaneers cover and win 28-13

Panthers @ Raiders (-5.5): Sun. 2:05p โ€“ The Panthers as an organization are a complete and utter dumpster fire. They have seemed to move on from last yearโ€™s first overall pick Bryce Young. Andy Dalton will be quarterback for the foreseeable future. The Raiders won a massive game against the Ravens, who everyone thought was going to be back in the AFC Championship. The Ravens gave up a double-digit lead in the 4th, and the lack of help Lamar has, is showing. Raiders win, but I think Dalton gives new life to the Panthers. I donโ€™t know if the Raiders cover, but they will win 20-17

Dolphins @ Seahawks (-4): Sun. 2:05p โ€“ The Tua situation is sad, concerning, and I can only imagine how difficult it is for Tua to decide his future. With that, the Dolphins are going nowhere fast with Skylar Thompson. The Dolphins still have their fast offense, but when Skylar Thompson has taken the field in the past, the Tua production heavily drops off. The Seahawks look like a playoff team, and are top of their division. I think Seahawks win 25-16

Ravens (-1.5) @ Cowboys: Sun. 2:25p โ€“ This game is intriguing and probably the game of the week. The Ravens are 0-2 and the Cowboys just got destroyed in their home opener. The Ravens defense let the Raiders score on four straight drives. Scoring two touchdowns and two field goals. The Ravensโ€™ defense is always solid, so for the Raiders to do that, I would think the Cowboys would be stronger. The Ravens need a win more than the Cowboys, but I am going to take the Cowboys 27-24

49ers (-7) @ Rams: Sun. 2:25p – The 49ers looked terrible against the Vikings after dominating the Jets. Hopefully, that was just a fluke and the 49ers thought they could walk all over the Vikings. The Rams were man-handled early by the Cardinals and lost by 20. The Rams are also down their two Pro-Bowl receivers. 49ers win and cover 34-20

Lions (-3) @ Cardinals: Sun. 2:25p โ€“ The Cardinals are rolling. They lost narrowly to the Bills Week 1 and had a chance to win it late. Then, they dismantled the Rams. The Lions are coming off a hard-fought loss, but Jared Goof threw two interceptions and just didnโ€™t look ready to play. Amon-Ra St. brown had a nasty ankle injury so his availability to play, may change this prediction. I am not sold on who is going to win, but I will take the home team Cardinals win 28-27

Chiefs (-3.5) @ Falcons: Sun. 6:20p โ€“ The Falcons put on an exhibition in that final drive against the Eagles Monday night. Kirk Cousins had time and the receivers were finally separating. The Falcons look to have the best O-line in football. We will see how they fare against Chris Jones and the rest of the Chiefs pass rush. Even with Travis Kelce being a non-factor, the Chiefs have narrowly escaped both of their wins. Kelce may have too much celebrity status that he canโ€™t focus, but then again, he may turn it around this game. Chiefs win because of their defense 27-24

Jaguars @ Bills (-5): Mon. 5:30p โ€“ The Jaguars seem to be going nowhere fast. I donโ€™t know what Trevor Lawerence is anymore. I used to think he would be a perennial Pro-Bowler, but that is not the case. They have struggled to move the ball, despite their defense playing well. I love that the Bills play five receivers and everyone gets the ball, instead of being so dependent on Stefon Diggs. Their defense is mostly new and look the exact same. Bills win 27-23

Commanders @ Bengals (-7.5): Mon. 6:15p โ€“ The Commanders are a rebuild team, and even though, they didnโ€™t score a touchdown last week, they had strong enough drives to bang in eight, yes eight, field goals to beat the Giants. Jayden Daniels looks solid for two games in, and looks like the best quarterback out of the draft with less than half the weapons Caleb Williams has. The Bengals should have won last week versus the Chiefs, if it wasnโ€™t for a pass interference call (it seems like the Chiefs are the only team to receive that call every time they need it). The Bengals should get their first win of the year. I think they do, but donโ€™t cover, Bengals win 27-24

Tell us what you think. Where did Tanner get it WRONG?!?
