Tanner’s Tumultuous Picks – Week 7

Oh, How the Turn Tables Have Turned

Tanner's Record: 46 & 44 🤩

I am now 46 and 44, after going 11 and three last week.

I even took the Broncos for all of you!

The major upset weeks are out of the NFL’s system for now. I think a few of the biggest takeaways are: the Cowboys need offensive and defensive help. They have no shot of reaching the postseason.

They have a game against the 49ers next and still have yet to play the Commanders or Eagles. They should’ve traded for Davante Adams, but I don’t know if it would make a difference since their defense is terrible.

The NFC North has four teams with four wins, so the Cowboys need a miracle to get in.

The Lions are elite, I think we all knew that.

The Commanders are legit. They went toe-to-toe with the Ravens. Matching up the two rosters preseason, most people would have had this game as a blowout.

Deshaun Watson needs to sit; I guarantee Jameis Winston will give the Browns more fire power. And, was firing Robert Saleh really necessary? They just scored 20 points and lost, but their defense gave up 23 points to lose the game.

And what about the kicking in that Monday night game? Wow!

Let’s see what we like for Week 7 of the NFL:

Broncos (-2.5) @ Saints: Thurs. 6:15p – The Saints are without Derek Carr, but Spencer Rattler carried the team to score 27 in their loss versus the Buccaneers. He did have two interceptions and the defense let up 51 points.

The Saints have the injury-bug and haven’t won since Week 2. The Broncos are a solid defensive team. As long as Bo Nix doesn’t turn the ball over, the Broncos should win 23-19

Patriots @ Jaguars (-5.5): Sun. 7:30a – (Game will be played in London) Drake Maye looked decent in his full debut against the Texans. He threw for 240+ yards and threw three touchdowns to two interceptions. The Jaguars are maybe the biggest let down of the season. Both teams are 1-5, but who knows maybe the game is a turning point for the winning team that could win five straight.

I doubt it, but I think the Patriots keep it close but lose and Jags win 24-21

Seahawks @ Falcons (-2.5): Sun. 11:00a – The Seahawks have lost three straight after starting 3-0. Two of their losses were against the Lions and 49ers, but losing to the Giants was shocking.

The Falcons are 4-2 and have won three straight. Kirk Cousins and the offense is clicking. Drake London has been a top five receiver, and Darnell Mooney as the second option has been unbelievable. Even Ray-Ray McCloud has made a huge impact. Falcons win 31-25

Titans @ Bills (-8): Sun. 11:00a – The Bills just fleeced the Browns for Amari Cooper, and are 4-2.

They are two games ahead of the Jets in their division, and still have some favorable games including this one. The Titans are just not that good. Calvin Ridley probably wishes he was paid a little less and went to a team that actually competes. Bills win 34-21

Bengals (-6) @ Browns: Sun. 11:00a – The Bengals need wins, and here they will get one. At this point, I would bench Deshaun Watson. I have never seen or heard of a player that has dropped off in raw talent so quickly. Watson’s mental health is not apparent. He looks like a high school quarterback in the NFL. Jameis Winston would invigorate new life into the team. They can’t cut him either because of the dead cap situation.

Browns fans I’m sorry, but you are in shambles for the next few years. Bengals win 28-17

Texans @ Packers (-2.5): Sun. 11:00a – This will be one of the games of the week. The Texans are 5-1 headed to the 4-2 Packers. The Texans’ losing Nico Collins was a big loss, but them trading for Stefon Diggs in the offseason, makes even more sense now.

They still have Tank Dell and other weapons, like Joe Mixon.

The Packers are somewhat limited at receiver right now, but are still playing some great ball. Texans win 28-27

Dolphins @ Colts (-3.5): Sun. 11:00aThis will be a boring game. The Colts should win this game with ease. The Dolphins are a complete shell of themselves without Tua. Colts win with Flacco 27-17

Lions @ Vikings (-2.5): Sun. 11:00a – Another fantastic game this week. The Vikings are 5-0 and the Lions 4-1. This will be a battle for the lead in the NFC North.

This is a huge divisional game because very team in the division is 4-2 or better, & I can’t wait to watch this game!!

The Lions offense is cooking and the Vikings keep winning with Sam Darnold. Brian Flores as the defensive coordinator has done a fantastic job in Minnesota. Lions win 27-25

Eagles (-3.5) @ Giants: Sun. 11:00a – The Eagles need this win to compete with the Commanders in their division. The Cowboys and giants are no threat, but Washington is led by the rookie of the year Jayden Daniels. The Eagles have both receivers back and should win this game by a touchdown. Eagles win 24-17

Raiders @ Rams (-6.5): Sun. 2:05p – The Raiders will keep Raidering. The Raiders have admitted that they suck after trading Davante Adams. The Raiders should just tank for whichever quarterback they want to draft.

There is going to be a plethora of young stand-out quarterbacks available in the top 15 picks in this upcoming draft. The Rams are still injured, but are well-coached.

Not much to say about this game. Rams win 21-17

Panthers @ Commanders (-7.5): Sun. 2:05p – The Red Rifle hasn’t done anything since that game against the Raiders.

On the other side of the field, The Commanders just lost their second game to the red-hot Ravens. The Commanders are still in the lead in the NFC East, so a win here only continues their push to division winners. Commanders win 35-17

Chiefs @ 49ers (-1.5): Sun. 2:25p – Another fantastic game, that isn’t a primetime game.

So many great (and lousy) matchups this week. The Chiefs are still undefeated, but the 49ers seem to be turning their team around. They are still missing the best running back in the league. I know McCaffrey owners; it’s been a tough start to the season. 49ers win and get revenge for last Super Bowl 28-27

Jets (-1) @ Steelers: Sun. 6:20p – The Jets are two and four. Wow! I think everyone thought they would be a little better than that.

Their offense hasn’t scored more than 24 points, and their defense is not as dominant as they have been the last two seasons.

The Steelers are 4-2 with Justin Fields, and now there are rumors and secrets being thrown around that Russell Wilson is ready and may start over Fields! What the heck?!? Your team is playing winning football and you want to throw a wrench in that?

Until Fields throws a game away, I think it’s a bad idea to switch quarterbacks. If the Jets don’t win this game, they have a tough road ahead. Jets win 24-21

HOT TAKE!

Ravens (-3.5) @ Buccaneers: Mon. 6:15p – Another great game. Lamar Jackson has been playing fantastic, but so has Baker Mayfield.

Both teams are playing well and fighting for the division lead. The Buccaneers defense needs to contain Lamar if they want to win. Ravens win 27-24

Chargers (-2.5) @ Cardinals: Mon. 7:00p – The Cardinals have a lot of holes in their team, and so do the Chargers. However, the Chargers have better coaching. The Cardinals may be without Marvin Harrison Jr. as well. Safety Derwin James for the Chargers is back. I think the Chargers stellar defense will be too much for the Cardinals. Chargers win 23-17.

Teams with Bye Weeks: the Chicago Bears, and the Dallas Cowboys

Tanner's Current record is 46-44!
