(Worthy News) – The US military announced Monday that American forces in the Middle East killed 163 Islamic State group militants and captured another 33 during more than 95 operations carried out in Iraq and Syria since the end of August, the Hill reports.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a November 4 press release that the operations were part of America’s ongoing efforts to crush efforts by Islamic State to regroup and seize control of Iraq and Syria.

“Since August 29, in partnership with security forces in Iraq and Syria, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) conducted 95 Defeat ISIS (D-ISIS) operations, some of which included unilateral strikes in Syria. These operations resulted in 163 terrorists killed and 33 captured, including over 30 senior and mid-level ISIS leaders,” CENTCOM said.

According to CENTCOM, these “successful operations” have applied “sustained pressure” on ISIS leaders and have “constrained their ability to operate and to plan attacks.”

“Alongside our coalition and Iraqi partners, we will continue to aggressively pursue these terrorists and disrupt their capability to conduct operations against U.S. interests, as well as those of our allies and partners,” Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, said in the press release.
