Israeli Airstrike in Syria’s Tartus Registers as 3.0 on Richter Scale

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Israel carried out one of its most intense military campaigns in Syria in over a decade, striking air defense systems, missile depots, and strategic sites in Tartus. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights described the strikes as the “heaviest in years,” with massive explosions registering as a magnitude 3.0 seismic event. Videos on social media captured fireballs and mushroom clouds lighting up the night sky.

Israel has conducted airstrikes in Syria for years to stop advanced weapons from reaching hostile groups like Hezbollah. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that these operations aim to neutralize security threats and maintain stability along Israel’s northern border.

“We have no interest in a conflict with Syria,” Netanyahu stated, emphasizing that the actions are aimed at “thwarting potential threats from Syria and preventing terrorist elements from gaining a foothold near our border.”

US-based researcher Richard Cordaro noted that the signal from the explosion traveled twice as fast as an ordinary earthquake.

“The #explosion of the ammunition depot at #Tartus, Syria was detected at Iznik, Türkiye magnetometer station 820 km away. Signal took 12 minutes to travel in the lower ionosphere. That’s about twice as fast as earthquake signals travel,” Cordaro wrote on X.
