(Worthy News) – A surge in violent attacks against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers has sparked a strong federal crackdown, with President Trump, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, and Border Czar Tom Homan vowing “zero tolerance” for assaults on law enforcement.

Assaults on ICE personnel have skyrocketed 700% since Trump began his second term, according to DHS. Incidents include shootings in Texas, firebombings in Portland, and attacks during raids in California.

The most brazen assault occurred July 4 in Alvarado, Texas, where 10 masked individuals ambushed an ICE facility, injuring a local police officer. An AR-15, incendiary materials, and anti-ICE graffiti were found. The FBI is still searching for one suspect, offering a $25,000 reward.

Days later, a Michigan man opened fire at a Border Patrol station in McAllen, injuring three before being killed.

“These are not protests. This is an insurgency,” said Texas Sheriff Roy Boyd. Officials believe many attacks are coordinated and fueled by extreme rhetoric.

Democrats have criticized ICE’s use of masks and unmarked vehicles. Legislation from Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) would ban face coverings. ICE officials argue masks protect agents from being doxxed and targeted.

During a fireside chat, Homan declared, “You throw a rock at an ICE officer, you’re going to jail. This s— stops now.” Abbott signed two bills strengthening Texas’ immigration enforcement.

As law enforcement braces for further unrest, ICE officials warn the violence may escalate unless tougher prosecutions and local cooperation become the norm.
