(Worthy News) – Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard unveiled what she called “overwhelming evidence” of a coordinated conspiracy within the Obama administration to undermine President Donald Trump following his 2016 election victory. Speaking on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Gabbard detailed revelations from over 100 declassified documents released Friday and said she would formally refer the material to the Department of Justice and FBI for criminal investigation.
“The implications of this are frankly nothing short of historic,” Gabbard told host Maria Bartiromo. “This is not a partisan issue. This is a matter of protecting the integrity of our democratic republic.”
According to Gabbard, the documents show that then-President Barack Obama and senior members of his national security team orchestrated a post-election narrative falsely linking Trump to Russian election interference. Gabbard said this narrative contradicted prior intelligence assessments which found no evidence that Russia attempted to alter vote counts or had the intent or capability to do so.
“Creating this piece of manufactured intelligence that claims Russia helped Donald Trump get elected contradicted every other assessment that had been made previously,” Gabbard stated. “What President Obama and his team did was subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup against a duly elected president.”
The documents allegedly implicate several top Obama-era officials, including former National Intelligence Director James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey, and former National Security Adviser Susan Rice. Gabbard did not mince words, calling the actions “treasonous” and stating, “There must be indictments.”
Gabbard added that multiple whistleblowers from within the intelligence community have come forward since the release of the documents. “There are people who were working within the intelligence community at this time who were so disgusted by what happened,” she said. “They want to see justice delivered.”
The memo released by Gabbard’s office asserts that the now-declassified material formed the basis of the Mueller investigation, the Trump-Russia media frenzy, and ultimately the two impeachment proceedings against President Trump. “Their goal,” the memo reads, “was to enact a years-long coup and destroy Trump’s presidency from the start.”
Predictably, Democrats have pushed back on the allegations. Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, called the claims “baseless” and accused Gabbard of politicizing national security. “Few episodes in our nation’s history have been investigated as thoroughly as the Intelligence Community’s warning in 2016 that Russia was interfering in the election,” Himes said. “Baseless accusations of treason are par for the course for this director of national intelligence, but that doesn’t make them any less damaging.”
President Trump has repeatedly claimed the Russia narrative was a politically motivated hoax and a product of a “deep state” effort to sabotage his presidency. The newly declassified documents, Gabbard claims, prove those accusations correct.
While some previous government reviews, including a 2020 GOP-led Senate report, endorsed elements of the original intelligence community’s findings, Gabbard’s release has reignited debate over the origins and legitimacy of the Trump-Russia investigation.
“For the sake of future generations,” Gabbard concluded, “every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
