WASHINGTON D.C. (Worthy News) – A newly released cache of documents has revealed that the Biden administration’s FBI launched a sweeping secret probe — dubbed “Operation Arctic Frost” — targeting more than 160 Republican politicians, Trump officials, and conservative organizations under the guise of investigating alleged “2020 election-related crimes.”
The explosive revelations, made public through the House Judiciary Committee and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), detail an expansive dragnet that Republicans say amounted to a “Biden administration enemies list.”
Grassley disclosed that 197 subpoenas were quietly issued by the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) as part of Arctic Frost. “This was the vehicle by which partisan agents could improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus,” Grassley charged at a Capitol Hill press conference. “It was nothing short of a political fishing expedition.”
Wide-Ranging Targets
Among those reportedly investigated were former Trump aides Dan Scavino, Peter Navarro, and Ed Martin, along with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Steve Bannon, former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Trump attorney John Eastman, and Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.).
The investigation also extended beyond individuals, scrutinizing over 90 conservative organizations, including Turning Point USA and the Republican National Committee (RNC).
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said the documents show the probe’s reach was far broader than originally believed. “What we’ve learned is it was much more expansive than we ever thought,” Jordan said. “We want Jack Smith in front of our committee. Was this a political operation against President Trump? How many members of Congress did you spy on?”
Secret Surveillance on GOP Senators
Adding to the controversy, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) revealed that the Arctic Frost probe secretly subpoenaed the phone records of at least eight Republican senators — including his own — without their knowledge.
The subpoenas reportedly compelled AT&T to provide call logs, timestamps, and geolocation data, under a gag order issued by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, who barred the company from notifying the senators for at least one year.
Cruz called the move an “unprecedented abuse of power” and demanded Boasberg’s impeachment. “We are going to get the answers of every person who signed off on this,” Cruz vowed. “There will be accountability.”
A Weaponized Investigation
Republican lawmakers argue that Arctic Frost was never about justice but rather a weaponized effort to intimidate and bankrupt anyone aligned with President Trump. Many of those investigated were never accused of any crime.
The operation, approved by FBI Director Christopher Wray and later expanded by Attorney General Merrick Garland, was eventually handed over to Special Counsel Jack Smith in November 2022. Smith later used some Arctic Frost material in his ongoing case against Trump regarding the 2020 election.
Documents show the FBI requested $16,000 in travel expenses to conduct over 40 interviews, indicating extensive manpower and coordination across multiple field offices.
Special Counsel Agrees to Testify
In response to mounting pressure, Jack Smith’s attorney, Lanny A. Breuer, confirmed that Smith is willing to testify publicly before Congress.
“As we informed congressional leaders last week, Jack is happy to discuss his work as Special Counsel and answer any questions at a public hearing, just like every other Special Counsel investigating a president has done,” Breuer said.
Political Fallout
The revelations have deepened concerns about the DOJ’s politicization under President Biden, fueling calls for new legislation to limit the executive’s control over federal investigations.
“This was not law enforcement,” Grassley said. “It was political lawfare designed to silence dissent.”
As the 2024 election cycle intensifies, Republicans say the Arctic Frost disclosures underscore their warning of a “two-tiered justice system” — one that protects Democrats while persecuting Trump and his allies.
