My South Carolina Gamecocks played the Clemson Tigers. That’s sort of our in-state rivalry here in South Carolina. My Gamecocks came out on top. My sweet wife loves her Clemson Tigers. It was disappointing for her. It was a fun game. Peg and Mike Gallagher and I, we were in New York for the Thanksgiving weekend, and we found the Clemson Tiger Club in New York City. They meet at a sports bar there to watch the game, and so we joined some great people there and watched the game, and it was a nail-biter down to the very end. But, you know, for once, I mean, typically I don’t get this option often because in most cases Clemson’s always beating the Gamecocks. But Gamecocks up, and, you know, maybe we get a chance in the playoffs. Who knows with this new system that they have. And what about some of the issues with some of the games? With players and fans getting into fights after the game because the opposing team, I guess, were trying to plant their flag. I think this happened in the Ohio State game. North Carolina State and North Carolina as well and several others. maybe fans should not be allowed to go on the field at all. What do you think? Maybe they should just be made to stay in the stands, and it would prevent this type of thing. But it was a fun weekend. We have a lot to cover. You know, last week it was the Mexican president who promised to work with President Trump when he threatened tariffs. Very quickly, the new president of Mexico got in line and said, look, we’ll help. We’ll cooperate. We’ll help you secure your border. Over the weekend, we learned that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is going to do the same thing. After spending some time at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on Friday, I believe it was, We learned that the Canadian president says, yep, we’re with you. We’re going to help you secure the northern border as well as long as you don’t put those tariffs in place. So we’ll get into that, some of the details of those two agreements a little bit later in today’s show. Of course, the big news is last night, President Joe Biden announced that he was going to do something that he said he would not do. He has said it over and over. When asked if he would pardon his son, Hunter Biden, in cut number one, this was following When Joe Biden left the presidential race, of course, throughout the campaign, Joe Biden has said, no, I won’t pardon my son because of the optics, I’m sure. But I thought that Joe Biden, after he had said this publicly so many times, I thought even Joe Biden won’t go back on that. I mean, he’s very clear about it. In cut number one, he talks about how he will not pardon his son, that he’ll let the judicial system do its job.

With regard to the question regarding the family, I’m extremely proud of my son Hunter. He has overcome an addiction. He’s one of the brightest, most decent men I know, and I am satisfied. that I’m not going to do anything. I said I abide by the jury decision. I will do that, and I will not pardon him.
SPEAKER 13 :
I will not pardon him. Very clear, wasn’t it? And that was one of many times he has said that. Karine Jean-Pierre, who is the voice of the White House, has repeatedly said, Joe Biden will not pardon Hunter Biden. And cut number two, She said it many times over the last several months. Will the president pardon or commute his son if he’s convicted?
SPEAKER 11 :
So I’ve answered this question before. It was asked of me not too long ago, a couple of weeks ago, and I was very clear and I said no.

Is there any possibility that the president would end up pardoning his son?

No.

The president would not pardon or commute his son, Hunter. I just want to make sure that that is not going to change over the next six months.

The president’s saying no. It’s still a no. It’s still a no. It will always be. It’s still a no. It will be a no. It is a no. And I don’t have anything else to add. Will he pardon his son? No.

President, I’ve been very clear. The president’s not going to pardon him.

And one more. President Biden says that he’s not going to pardon his son, Hunter. Is he going to ask Donald Trump to do that?

I don’t have anything else to share about that. I’m not going to go down a rabbit hole on this. I’ve been very clear. The president’s been very clear when we’ve been asked this question.

I’ve been very clear. The president’s been very clear. Not going to go down that rabbit hole. It’s a no. It’s clearly a no. It’s always a no. But yet, last night, Joe Biden issued this statement. Today, I signed a pardon for my son, Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I watched my son being selectively and unfairly prosecuted. The president went on to claim that his son has been treated differently by prosecutors. I guess he knows now how the Trump family feels, huh? He wrote, “…without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form.” The president said those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It’s clear that Hunter was treated differently. Biden also referenced his son’s battle with addiction and blamed raw politics for the unraveling of Hunter’s plea deal. He said there’s been an effort to break Hunter, who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. He said in trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me. And there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough. The president appealed to you saying, I hope Americans will understand why a father and a president would come to this decision. Which brings me to my question for you today. Do you understand why a father and a president, after repeatedly claiming, I will not pardon my son, offered a very broad pardon. The pardon says that offenses against the U.S. that Hunter Biden has committed or may have committed between January 1st of 2014 and December 1st, 2024, yesterday when the pardon was issued. We’re going to get back to our discussion of the pardon granted yesterday afternoon by President Joe Biden of Hunter Biden after over many years saying he would not do so. One of the most exciting parts of Trump 2-0 coming in and some of the great people that President Trump has appointed or has recommended, of course, some are pending Senate confirmation, others not. is the partnership that we’re going to witness between Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as they head up this new entity known as GOESH. They picked up some unlikely support over the weekend when Senator Bernie Sanders posted on X, Elon Musk is right. The Pentagon, with a budget of $886 billion, just failed its seventh audit in a row. It’s lost track of billions. And it appears that Senator Sanders is supporting what Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy is about to do. What I’m so excited about is the fact that we have a couple of successful business people who are going to be taking a look at government expenditures and going to dig deep in how we get out of this mess, literally, that we’re in. with the overspending and with the $36 trillion in debt we’re in. There’s going to have to be some hard decisions made, and these two outsiders, I believe, can do so. We need people with a business mind to do that. On our guest line today, from my home state of South Carolina, our Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evatt, she came to us with that business background because she was a successful business person before becoming our Lieutenant Governor. I’m doing great, Joey. I hope you are, too. I mean, so much happens from the days between when we talk to each other. Man, it seems like it’s a lifetime.

Well, before we get into a couple things that we were planning to talk about, what about this pardon that was issued late last night?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I don’t know. I think everybody kind of saw that coming at some point, but it’s just the hypocrisy just continues to pile up, right? And Biden’s statement talking about persecution, using the DOJ, weaponizing the judicial system on Hunter Biden, Wow. It is almost laughable that they can even talk about that when we have seen what they have done to President Trump all over, from New York to Florida, trying to indict him, using the judicial system against him in any way they could. It just is laughable to me, Joey, and I think it’s laughable to the American people. So, you know, good luck. You know, we were President Trump isn’t in, but we’re going to be looking at midterms and trying to keep these margins so that he can have a full four years of cleaning up D.C. And I just think the American people are watching there continue to remember this hypocrisy.

Yeah. You know, you said that it doesn’t surprise you. I’ve had a lot of listeners today who have called in, who have texted in, who have emailed me, who’ve said the same thing. It didn’t surprise them. You know, I kind of thought there was a slight chance that maybe Joe Biden for once. would do what he’s been saying. And, you know, if he was going to offer a pardon, I don’t understand why he has repeatedly and just in recent weeks say, I’m not going to pardon him. Karine Jean-Pierre has to have egg all over her face right now. I wonder what her attitude is when she walked in to talk to the president today after just Friday. She said he’s not going to do it.

Well, you know, Joey, there won’t be a press conference for a while. I think I heard this morning it will be at least three days because he is traveling, I think, in Africa. So she’s bought herself a little bit of time. She’s hoping, I’m sure, that something big happens in the news world. can shift the focus away from this. I don’t see that happening. But yeah, she’s just going to have to do what she’s had to do so many times is backpedal, backpedal on what she has come out and said and, you know, try to, I don’t know, try to kind of bring some validity to all the words she has said for the last four years.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yes. On our guest line today, Lieutenant Governor Pamela Abbott from my home state of South Carolina. Let’s talk a minute about one of the things that I’m most excited about, and that’s Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy kind of getting under the hood and digging around under the federal spending. Because, you know, with our $36 trillion debt, we have to stop spending somewhere. And we’ve all known that there’s a lot of waste. And when Bernie Sanders… tweeted yesterday that he agrees with what Elon Musk is doing, calling out the fact that the Pentagon has failed the last seven audits. What business, and you’re in this business, you’re a numbers person, what business who fails seven audits gets to stay in business?
SPEAKER 07 :
None. But you know what I find the hypocrisy of this is? Is that he wants to target on the Pentagon. He wants to target on defense. When we’re living in a time where the entire world is in turmoil, Bernie Sanders is going to talk about defense and not talk about all the pet projects and all the social money that he’s been giving away, right? Let’s focus on defense. That is such a Democratic move. But the Democrats love that, right? Let’s go after our servicemen and women. Let’s go after their budget. But I am very hopeful. You know, you have two good businessmen at the helm. You have Elon Musk. You have Vivek Ramaswamy. I came out of the business world. So I understand. You have to be able to live within your means, right? It’s what we would say to anybody when managing their household. And it’s going to be eye-opening when they come in and really start to uncover and be transparent with the amount of dollars that we are wasting. And, you know, the Democrats want to raise taxes. That’s how they want to generate money. And as Republicans, we’re going to show the American people that we are going to be good stewards of their tax dollar and we’re going to cut wasteful spending. And that’s how we’re going to get the U.S. back on track. That’s how we’re going to get out of this horrible debt scenario that we’re in.

With me today, South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Pamela Abbott. Having someone like Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, two business people, and again, you came from the business world when you entered the political world. What advantages do these businessmen have that bureaucrats probably wouldn’t when you start digging into how our tax dollars are being spent?

Well, when you’re in business, you’re accountable, right? So you understand that you’re accountable to the bottom line, you’re accountable to your creditors, and they’re gonna bring that same sense of accountability to government. Owning a business myself and growing it into a national company, you have to make sure you’re living within your means. you can’t make bad decisions you just can’t throw good money after bad money and so they’re going to come in and say hey wait a minute why are we spending this much on this and what is it getting what is the roi you know business people talk about what is what is the roi on making an investment and you know is that return going to be worth the risk you’re taking And that’s what we’re going to see them do. They’re going to look at these pet projects that are out there that we’re funding. You know, like we always hear about the proverbial bridge to nowhere. Right. How are we going to find and unroot all that stuff? And that’s the business sense. You know, when you’re a business owner and I say this all the time. you understand what it’s like to sign the front of a check and not just the back of a check. And they’re going to bring just that mindset to the Office of Efficiency. And so I just think we all better buckle up in January because it is going to be a very exciting ride.

You have said repeatedly yourself since the election, the president has said for months no pardon was coming. I just, I wanted to ask you, could those statements now be seen as lies from the American people? Is there really a credibility issue here given now this announcement?

First of all, One of the things that the president always believes is to be truthful to the American people. That is something that he always truly believes. And if you see the end of his, I assume that you’ve read his statement and you look at the end of that statement, and he actually says that in the first line in the last paragraph. and respects the thinking and how the American people will actually see this in his decision-making. And I would encourage everyone to read in full the president’s statement. I think he lays out his thought process. He lays out how he came to this decision. He came to this decision this weekend. So let’s be very clear about that. He says it himself. It’s in his voice. He said he came to this decision this weekend. And he said he wrestled with this. And because he believes in the justice system, but he also believes that the war politics infected the process and led to a miscarriage of justice.

So should the president also pardon Donald Trump? Because he got caught up in this war of politics as well, did he not? From the same Department of Justice. How can she, with a straight face, say that the president always tells the truth to the American people? The statement that she’s referring to, that last paragraph reads, For my entire career, I’ve followed a simple principle. Just tell the American people the truth. This is from Joe Biden yesterday. He said they’ll be fair-minded. Here’s the truth. I believe in the justice system, but as I’ve wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process, and it’s led to a miscarriage of justice. And once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a president would come to this decision. Now, what happened, and it’s very clear, We learned over the weekend that Hunter Biden’s defense team had prepared a 52-page argument on why he should be pardoned. I’m sure that was the discussion at the Biden family Thanksgiving dinner table. And it worked. They pushed Joe Biden into doing something he said that he was not going to do. Maybe he meant it all along. Maybe he was always going to issue a pardon just when he thought he could get away with it. Back to the phones. Kent is in Dallas, Texas. Welcome, Kent. Well, about the Hunter Biden pardon. To me, I look at evidence. I’m a former auditor, accountant. I just look at the facts that are there. And there’s never been any evidence to support his statement that he was not going to pardon Hunter. I think as soon as he said that, that pardon was rewritten and filed away. Yeah. Again, there was no evidence. And also, the more that they are adamant about something, they’ve already made up their mind. You know, it’s, I’m not going to pardon him. He said it over and over again. You don’t have to reinforce that to me if it’s true. It’s just like, oh, I’ve always believed in telling the American public the truth. He said that over and over again. Guess what? If you’re an honest person, you don’t have to say that over and over and over again. You’re what the Democrats do an excellent job of. They say that sometimes that there’s enough people out there that will believe it if you get enough time.

I’m mad at the prosecutors because months ago I knew. Months and months ago, I knew that if they brought charges against him while his dad was in the office, he was going to get free. So to me, I’m angry about the fact that they even wasted the time because it’s all a bunch of smoke and mirrors like we’re used to seeing with this government that we’ve been under for all these years. So basically, there’s no surprise. Joe Biden’s a liar. He’s been a liar. I’m just mad that they even brought it. before he got out of office. If they would have brought it in January, then justice could have been served. That’s my point. Thanks for hearing me out.
