And we are back. Hour number three, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate, Bo Beitman joining us now. He is president of the Wyoming State Senate. We have a ton of Wyoming listeners, by the way, Bo. So welcome. Thank you for joining us. Hey, thank you so much for having me. We appreciate it. Okay, Wyoming, first state to require proof of citizenship to vote in all elections. By the way, congratulations.

I wish we could do that in all 50 states.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, we’ve got our work cut out for us, and so do you guys down there in Colorado. Oh, we do.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, you know, just so you know, Bo, we here in Colorado, we Republicans in Colorado, we refer to Wyoming as America. Yeah. I mean, there’s actual freedom there. So, you know, that’s pretty cool. Hey, I know that Trump is trying to advance national voter ID. If he is able to get that through and make it basically a law required in all 50 states, what kind of difference do you think that makes in presidential elections?
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, it’s huge. I mean, there’s like five or six common sense, low-hanging fruit, easy things that every state should be doing right now. Number one is photo ID, of course. Paper ballots, going back to paper ballots and away from relying on technology. U.S. citizen verification, like we just did in Wyoming, closing that loophole to make sure when you go to register to vote, you’re proving your U.S. citizenship. Common sense, but something that a lot of states aren’t doing. Residency requirements. Do you actually live in the district you’re trying to vote in? And clean voter rolls. In Wyoming, we take pride in purging our voter rolls after every general election. So if you don’t vote in the general, you get removed from the list. If you go show up at the next one, they’ll put you back on. But it’s things like that, the little things that every state should be doing, but they’re not.
SPEAKER 04 :
I agree. And, of course, the argument we get back, and I talked about this last week a little bit, Beau, is, well, you know, you’re infringing on people’s rights. You’re actually, you know, calling them a lower class citizen, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, if we require, you know, voter ID. By the way, most of these people would even say that’s nonsense. I have ID. You know, where’s the problem here?
SPEAKER 03 :
Exactly. It’s kind of insulting your intelligence at that point. And the left is very good at that, whether it was when we passed voter ID a few years ago. We heard the same tired arguments the left has been trotting out about. Minorities can’t get IDs. Old people are too dumb to get IDs, a photo ID. You name it, they’ve tried it. And people are smarter than that, and people have finally got to the point where they’re sick and tired of it, and they want their elected representatives to act and to do something.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, we understand why Commieland, Colorado, we understand why states like ours don’t have those requirements that you just put through. But how about a lot of the redder states that don’t have it yet? Do you have any idea why more Republican-led states have not taken the steps you have?
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, I’ll tell you, it’s tough. I mean, I’ve been in the legislature since 2017, and I got elected in 2016 with President Trump. And it’s been a fight, even in good old Wyoming, to get common sense things done like photo I.D., It took several attempts to stop crossover voting. We were allowing Democrats to vote in our Republican primaries up until about two years ago. So it’s a hard thing. Anytime you’re trying to make common-sense election integrity measures get through, even with Republican majorities, it’s tough. You get the same… same people screaming about, you’re infringing on people’s rights, this, that, and the other. You just have to be bold. You just have to ignore the naysayers and just do what the people elected you to do.
SPEAKER 04 :
Pardon my ignorance, Beau. I know what our statistics are like in Colorado in regards to registered Republicans versus Democrats versus, you know, that unaffiliated voter. Yeah, John and I are both of the Republicans. Yes. What’s the ratio in Wyoming like?
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, geez, that’s putting me on the spot there. I’d say it’s probably low-end 60-40, high-end 80-20, depending on what county you’re in. So in my county, it’s closer to 80-20 Republican, Democrat. But, you know, we’re getting a lot of Californians moving into Wyoming and a lot of Coloradans, no offense. But most of your Republicans are already up here. So you guys are the only two holdouts down there, I think.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, and you’ve got, of course, other big areas like Jackson Hole where you’ve got a huge liberal influence that’s starting to come in, and hopefully that doesn’t spread across the entire state. But that is a risk you guys have.
SPEAKER 03 :
It is. And with only 580-some thousand people in the state, you know, it doesn’t take much to adjust those numbers. And, yeah, Teton County over there is the outlier, but you’re starting to see a little bit more, you know, like towns like Laramie. Towns like Cheyenne that are getting some more people from the front range moving up over the border and still working down in Colorado. So, yeah.
SPEAKER 11 :
Bo, I mean, you get together with all the other Republican representatives and activists and so forth. Do you guys look south of the border down here at Colorado and start to wonder? You know, what if we become them, okay? In other words, I mean, do rural counties up there start to get worried that they could get absolutely taken over by the blue counties like we have been here in Colorado?
SPEAKER 03 :
Absolutely. And, you know, you guys flipped very quickly. Was it two cycles? You went from red to purple to blue, or three cycles? We saw that, and it was terrifying because we’re a lower populated state, so it could happen here even quicker. It could happen in one cycle, you know, conceivably. So we were very on guard at our local – it woke up the local parties. The county GOPs are taking notice. Okay. and trying to make sure that these wolves in sheep’s clothing, these Democrats pretending to be Republicans, are not getting elected at the local level and at the state level as well.

Makes sense. Talk to us about your PAC, the 307 Senate Leadership PAC.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, that was set up to help out the leadership in the Senate because we have the Freedom Caucus on the House side, and they’re very good at raising money, but we don’t have any kind of operation like that in the Senate. We’re just kind of – we’re a citizen legislature, so we don’t – I have a full-time job outside of politics and things like that. So a friend of mine set up that PAC for us to help us pay for – for getting the word out and media and stuff like that.

What was it? How do we take Colorado back the other direction? Now, this one actually said, how do we take it back red? And I’m always quick to remind people that… Even in the early 80s, it was more purple. I don’t know that you could say it was totally red. We definitely were a lot more conservative leaning than we are now. But keep in mind, I’ve been here since 1964, and it’s never really been super red since I’ve lived here.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right. But we do have to say, look, first of all, what changed it? It was our market change. How did it change? Mass. Influx. Of people from blue states. Why did that happen? Blue states are poorly run. People fled them to come here because they consider Colorado in many ways to be comparable to those states.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 11 :
Okay. And basically we had a million, two million, whatever, new voters come in who were overwhelmingly blue. Now we have a blue market. Okay. John, the very first thing we have to do is something that you and I always talk about. Sell to the customer. We’ve got to tell the customer. Okay, we have a series of beliefs as Republicans, right? If we come to the customer and demand those things, we demand the Second Amendment, all of it, be totally restored right now in Colorado. How’s that going to sell? Not. Okay. But if we go to them and tell them. Even though I would like that, not going to sell. Oh, okay. Yeah. We always, especially with the leadership we had for the last two years. The Republican Party and conservative movement in Colorado always tries to throw Hail Marys. We never try to get first downs. We never try to move the ball. We never try to meet the market where they are. We try to say, if you do not demand all liberty all right now, then you’re a compromiser. You’re a rhino. Get out.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 11 :
So that has two effects. Number one, we lose the market. Number two, we divide our own base. Because we’re telling so many people in our own base, if you don’t believe that a Hail Mary is the only good way to move the ball, then you’re a rhino, you’re a bad Republican, get out. So we divide our base with that. And you’ve got all these people looking back and saying, wait a minute, I hold virtually all the same views. I just don’t think that Colorado’s there right now. I think we’ve got to win some people over.
SPEAKER 04 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 11 :
We have to go to the market and do the thing we have not done. Tell them what is in liberty for them.
SPEAKER 04 :
Go ahead. And unfortunately, I think some of what affects us as conservatives, bear with me here, folks, and I think I know Charlie for sure will understand this, Andy maybe, although Andy wasn’t raised this way, Andy’s wife was, but I want to explain this. I think part of our issue that we get with a lot of conservatives, not all, because not all conservatives are Bible-believing, hardcore Christians. Right. But a lot are. There’s a lot, especially a lot of these individuals that we’ve even talked about the last hour and a half or so in regards to Dave Williams and so on. And I will give these folks credit where credit is due. They’re very much believers. They understand salvation, all of that. And I get that. And by the way… When it comes to things in the church, there is no compromise. There is no room for compromise. I mean, there’s certain things when it comes to the biblical end of things, and Andy, you’ve got a ministry degree, you know more about this than even I do, but there are unmovable things in the church world that you cannot move on. Now, I say all that to say this, and by the way, I admire all of you for those beliefs, and you’re correct in that realm. This isn’t the church, though. Right. This is politics. This is moving the football forward. This is moving up the yardstick an inch at a time. I mean, there’s things here that require a lot more strategy than what you do in the church. And while I admire you for your belief system and how you think about things internally in the church, you cannot think of those same things politically or you’ll lose. Right. Is that a good way to say it, Andy? It’s a great way to say it. And that’s part of our problem as conservatives is because we’re so hardcore on the Christian side, not ever caving, not ever bending. You can’t bend the knee. You can’t do this. You can’t do that. And I get that on the church side. And they’re right, by the way. I’m never going to disagree with them. I mean, salvation by the blood of Christ only. Right. Trinity, triune God. I mean, there are certain things there. unmovable you cannot change them whatsoever it’s black and white period it is what it is and yes we will divide over that if that’s what it comes to but that’s the church world andy that’s not politics right look john i mean how many times have we said um when we look at this market right and we could say on a scale of one to ten how conservative is the colorado market overall i would say it’s about a three
SPEAKER 11 :
Okay. Maybe a four if we’re lucky. It depends on the issues. Fiscal issues, it’s more of a five or six. Right. Social issues, it’s more of a two or three. Whatever. Overall, it’s about a three, three and a half. That’s probably right. Okay. You have to… Give candidates, first of all, you need to make it your goal. Okay, we just started a new two years, right? You have to make it your goal over the next two years to move that from a three and a half, not to an eight, but to a four, right? Or a four and a half. How do you do that? You win hearts and minds. How do you win hearts and minds? You’ve got two options, okay? Take your belief on Second Amendment. I talk about this every time I speak. Okay? We believe in the Second Amendment. We believe in the right to bear arms and self-defense. Okay. You can either go to them with what matters to you or what matters to them, the customer. And every person you’re trying to persuade is a customer. Okay. Now, if I go to them with what matters to me, I’m either going to demand…
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m not giving this gun up until you pry it out of my cold, dead hands.
SPEAKER 11 :
Exactly, and I always say that. And I always ask people, I want you to finish this for me. If you want my gun, you’re going to have to take it from my… And they go, cold, dead hands. I go, right. Now, let me ask you something. Did I lie when I said that? No, I mean it. You will have to take it from my cold, dead hands. I’m actually telling the truth when I say that. Okay, so I can either demand my liberty… Or I can lecture on my liberty, which also makes me feel good. I can come at them right away and say, let me tell you statistics. It’s in gun-free zones where most of the gun major shootings happen, yada, yada, yada. All the major cities that have the strictest gun laws have the highest gun crime and so forth. Now I’m talking down to them. Right. Okay. The first thing when I come at them and I demand my liberty, I make them feel like the bad guy. You’re trying to keep this from me? I demand you let me carry my gun. I demand this. I demand that. Now, when I talk down to them, I make them feel like the dumb guy. Right. Okay.
SPEAKER 04 :
What customer wants to feel like the bad guy or the dumb guy? Never. And you, by the way, in these particular situations, and just as a side note, if you want to see how this is done, very well, go watch any of Charlie Kirk’s videos on campuses where he does these sorts of things with college kids that, by the way, have been utterly brainwashed, more so than what you’d probably talk to most people in Colorado about some of these things. And what he does in a lot of cases is, in this case, Andy. He respects them. He respects them. He says, you know, I respect your opinion. I understand your thoughts on gun control and so on, and I get that. But let me ask you a question. Do you want to be safe?
SPEAKER 11 :
Okay. Now, you just got to where I was going. You just put the customer first. Okay. They don’t want to meet my demands. They don’t want to hear my lecture. Right. Okay. Because that makes them feel bad and dumb. They want to feel good and smart.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right.
SPEAKER 11 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 04 :
Another thing you can throw at a lot of these young people today especially would be, do you believe government’s always right? Right. Right. Exactly. Because then you know what they’re going to say coming back. No, we don’t. You think police and the cops and the authorities are always right. Yeah. Point blank, are they always right? Are they always right? No, they aren’t. So do you realize that the Second Amendment was written by our founding fathers to protect you from them? Right. See what I just did? Oh, totally. Now you got it on their level to where it’s not me and you’re prying it from my cold, dead hands. You’re getting them to think about, well, wait a minute. Yeah, I like being safe. I do think there’s some personal responsibility along these lines. I don’t trust government like I once did. And no, we can see on an ongoing basis that even though there’s a lot of good cops out there, there’s some bad ones as well.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right. See, the very first thing we need to do on every single topic, and by the way, I teach people on how to do this when I teach selling liberty, okay, is lead with what matters to the customer. So the very first thing you say in guns is not, I demand this, or here’s my lecture, here are the stats. You just made them feel bad or dumb. I lead with what matters to them. And I say this. I want you and your family to be as safe as possible. That’s my only goal. And my right to carry… Helps make that happen. Now, have I converted them right away? Of course not. But I’ve created in their minds a question mark. Because they’re like, well, how does your right to carry? I think your right to carry means there’s too many guns out there and it endangers me.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, and what I was going to say is then what you do is you throw something out to them where you sort of close off the conversation by saying, you know what? You know what I encourage you to do, Andy? You know what? It’s all out there. It’s on Google and so on. Go look up for yourself when you get some spare time on how many concealed weapons weapon issues we have, shootings, homicides, and so on by people that carry, like me. Go out there and tell me what the stats are on people like me committing a crime.
SPEAKER 11 :
And guess what you just did? The reason you can tell them, okay, here are the facts and figures. The reason you can point them to them or give them to them, whichever, is because you first put their needs first. If you lead with your demand or your lecture, you shut them down. If you lead with what matters to them, their safety. Now, whether they agree or disagree, and they may totally disagree, oh, yeah, you just want to keep your gun. No matter what, they just opened the door to what? Your lecture. Now you can give them facts and figures and you can say, oh, no, actually, the figures say that it’s the opposite. The figures say you will be safer. I only want you to be safe. I don’t need to carry a gun every morning. I need you to be safe. My greatest need is your safety, not my right to carry this weapon. If that didn’t make you safer, why would I carry it? I carry it so you can be safer.

No different than an auto shop selling a brake job.

Where I would call you on the phone and say, Andy, you know what? Got your vehicle in. Got a chance to look over a few things. You said you thought you might have a little bit of a noise. You wanted us to check the brakes. So guess what? We did a little bit of analysis. We found out that you actually need brakes. Would you like me to go over that with you right now? And by the way, I want you to be safe. So I think this is something that we really need to talk about when it comes to your vehicle because you and your family… need to be as safe as possible while driving.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right. But the Colorado Republican Party… You need brakes, Andy. Well, no, it’s even worse. I sell brakes. I want to sell more brakes. Don’t you want me to sell brakes? I have the right to sell brakes. Why are you not buying my brakes?
SPEAKER 04 :

SPEAKER 11 :
Yes, I want… Okay, and then… Or, let me just lecture you. You know, my breaks are the best breaks around. Let me show you some charts and graphs on this. I’ll talk down to you. They’re out the door. What did you do? You put their needs first.

You can do this, and I show people how to do it on topic after topic after topic after topic. Do not demand and lecture.

And by the way, we can talk about this when we come back. I will tell you this. The left isn’t any better at this. The only difference is the left has the mass media, which is changing. That makeup is changing. They’ve had for years the mass media. filling these people’s heads with all sorts of nonsense and fear and so on that oh you know guns are bad you know any town usa says there was 300 mass shootings last year blah blah blah blah blah so this is the crap that these people are fed even though it’s incorrect 100 okay let me end with this and we’ll go to break if you’ve got two because you’re totally right but if you’ve got two sides both demanding their way but one of them gives you free stuff

All right, so answering the question, you know, what do we need to do to get Colorado back going the other direction, which, by the way, takes time. It’s not going to happen in one or two cycles, even though it changed fairly quickly. Quickly, again, I always hate to say that. Yes, there’s some moments where you could say there was a big shift in what happened in Colorado. Our population, by the way, is double from where it was when I was a kid. When I was a kid, it was about 2.5 million people. We’re upwards of almost 5 million people now, so it’s literally doubled. And to Andy’s point, a lot of those people that have moved in are definitely not Colorado natives. They have come from other places where they liked – well, I don’t know if they liked the politics, but they sure brought them with them and have been doing the exact same thing here. Right. Point being with all of this is, and this is where strategy to me matters, and this is where, you know, Britt, if you’re still listening, and maybe you are, maybe you’re not, I know you’ve got a lot on your plate, but I look at this as a district-by-district thing in the state of Colorado. And let me be clear in how I say this. There are some places in Colorado to where that hardcore person like Andy or I could run and win. In fact, that’s the person you need, because if you get any kind of a squishy candidate there, they’re going to lose. So you’re still going to need some of those types of people in those areas to win those types of elections. Well, yeah, you sell to every market. That’s right.
SPEAKER 11 :
John, do you sell air conditioners in Alaska?
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s a little hard to do.
SPEAKER 11 :
Oh.
SPEAKER 04 :
It’s a little tough.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, you’re a compromiser. Because they don’t really need that. Why don’t you believe in air conditioners?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, and you know me, I do, but not there. Oh, okay. Then you’re not going to use it very much out of the year. Great example. So, yes, I’m one that says if there’s an area of the state whereby you need that hardcore… you know, conservative to run, then you’ve got to encourage and find that particular individual to run, support them, get them elected and so on. On the same token, we have areas whereby, and you even heard Britta talk about Denver, and there’s a group of young Democrats that are asking for something different than what the Democrat Party is giving. Now, I will tell you this. Even with them saying that, I will guarantee you that’s still not going to be the same candidate that you would have on the Western Slope that rides a horse and fix fences all day long. Right. Not going to be one and the same when it comes to candidates. You’re still going to need a little bit more of a centered… you know, politician to come into Denver to meet these kids where they’re at, help them, win them over, get them on your side, even having them help you campaign and do the other things necessary to get elected. But you’re probably not going to find somebody that’s right in line with what Andy, you and I believe. No. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER 11 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 04 :
In other words, let me give you an example. And some of you are going to hate me saying this. But you may actually find a candidate that says, well, you know, I believe in the abortion pill, you know, the day after pill. Right. And you know what? I’m okay with that. I would prefer it. But you know what? If we’re going to do anything, I’m somebody that believes in that. I’m not a late-term abortion person.
SPEAKER 11 :
John, I used to believe that pill was fine.
SPEAKER 04 :
Okay. So, you may find somebody where that’s the type of person that you even have to have there. Now, everything else they might be right in line with, fiscally, Second Amendment, all the other things that we talk about, they might be right there. But, you know, by the way, what I just said, Andy, to a lot of folks in the Rhino Watch end of things, that’s a no-go. You can’t have that person run.
SPEAKER 11 :
Let me give a great example.
SPEAKER 04 :
Am I right? Absolutely. They would not be allowed to run.
SPEAKER 11 :
Rhino Watch always wants a Hail Mary. They want to get it all in every election. Because what they say is this. If you stand strongly on your principles, that will sell. They say that’s the Reagan principle. No pale pastels. You’ve got to have bright colors, bright differences. Look, there is something to be said for the bright differences. But there’s a huge difference in understanding which market you’re in and how many of those differences are going to sell where.
SPEAKER 04 :
Andy? You have to look at the market. These are people. that would have crucified Christ for not being pure enough. I know. I’m sorry to say that, but they literally would have been those same individuals.
SPEAKER 11 :
Look, they put out a purity test that Trump would in the past.
SPEAKER 04 :
And by the way, I say that because I saw some posts here in the last couple of days comparing what just happened Saturday to Barabbas and Jesus.
SPEAKER 11 :
Unbelievable.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, I did see that, Andy. Unbelievable. That’s how loony some of these people are. They’re comparing what happened Saturday to Jesus and Barabbas.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right. And what they don’t seem to understand is, guys, we all hold pretty much the same views. There’s a little play in there. You’ve got some pro-choice Republicans. You’re going to have some differences. Look, I’m an extremist. As you know, what do I say about entitlements? I say until we seriously rein them in. There’s no hope for this country. Is that the Trump way? Nope. I’m to the right of Trump. Okay? I’m a bad person. I understand this. Okay? I get it. But I just look at the numbers and say, if we don’t raise the retirement age dramatically.
SPEAKER 04 :
And the donation age and the donation amount. Right, right, right, right, right. The limits.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah. People look at me, though, and I say that, and that’s not what Trump says. So what am I? I’m a rhino. I know.
SPEAKER 04 :
I know.
SPEAKER 11 :
Look, guys, there’s a lot of play there.
SPEAKER 04 :
Andy, they’ll call me a rhino for just saying the type of candidate we would need in Denver to win because I would be willing to quote-unquote compromise on that candidate, on that abortion pill. I’m now somehow or another a rhino. And I’m not. I’m a strategist.
SPEAKER 11 :
Obviously. Well, let’s take a step back. Well, yeah, because as you know, the personhood amendment annihilated the Republican Party in Colorado. Let me give you a really quick… It really did.
SPEAKER 04 :
And I agree with the personhood amendment. I agree. Now let me give you another example really quick for a lot of you that are listening that might be in that camp. This is a lot like some of you, and maybe, and I think, by the way, this is part of the problem we have with that whole camp, is very few business owners, very few people that have gone out and actually been successful with a business. In other words, they don’t understand what a market is, how to market to the market, and so on. I’m sorry to say there’s some that maybe have dabbled in it a little bit, but they definitely don’t do what I’ve done for the past 40 years. This is where I’m going with this. Andy, there are times where an employer has a job. and they’ve got all these qualifications for what they need to fulfill that job. Need to be A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and on. Right. But yet when they start getting some applicants in, they decide, well, you know what? Here’s the reality. The market isn’t sending me anybody that meets every one of those qualifications. Yeah, no one’s a 10 out of 10. So guess what? I’m going to have to settle for a 6 or a 7 to actually get this job filled and still get done what I need to get done at the end of the day so I can move my profits forward. Right. These people have no idea what I just said along those lines.
SPEAKER 11 :
But let’s take a step back. I totally agree. They don’t get the market at all. Why? Because they’ve never sold to it. They’ve been in politics forever, right?
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 11 :
against what they would call the moderates, the rhinos, the… I don’t like that term, rhino, okay? But the people who are more moderate. Okay, you’ve got the people who say, we’ve got to flex to the market. And then you’ve got those who say, we’ve got to stay rigid no matter what because we’re losing our freedoms little by little by little.
SPEAKER 04 :
And by the way, I agree with that. They’re right.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, yeah, totally agree.
SPEAKER 04 :
But the strategy and how to retain them is different from me to them.
SPEAKER 11 :
But here’s the sad thing, John. Well, these two shoot at each other every two years, every election cycle. They spend the whole time shooting at each other. Neither of them. is going out and doing what we said in the last segment, selling liberty rather than demanding and lecturing on it. Neither of them is winning anybody. Neither of them is doing the Charlie Kirk thing. That’s why he’s such a phenomenon, because he’s rare. Neither of them is winning any people over. So here we are. We’ve got two sides in the Republican Party who hate each other. I look at both of them and I say, hey, I’ve got news for you guys. Neither of you has done one thing in the last two, three decades here in Colorado market over well yeah but i’ve been telling the truth man preaching the truth and no you’ve been demanding liberty and treating people like they’re the bad guy well no i’ve been bringing the facts yeah you’ve been lecturing liberty liberty and and treating everybody like they’re the numb guy the dumb guy okay both of you are being tuned out by the market they don’t want to hear from either of you they want you to go to them and say what’s in it for them
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, because folks, believe me, I mean, this is where… And they haven’t done it. This is the difference between, I think, even us here on this program versus a lot of the folks that we’re even talking about that are hardcore in the party. I hear from a lot of different people. People text, email. I hear from every walk of life that end up either texting, emailing, or sometimes calling in to the show. And what I’m here to tell you is there are some folks that we frankly don’t agree on probably too many things. But there’s enough things that we do agree upon, and they agree with some of the things that even we have just got done saying on how we get Colorado to go the right direction, that they’re basically saying, man, you guys are – I don’t agree with you on everything, but everything you’re saying right now, I fully agree with you on. And my point is this – Those are things that the majority of those that are, quote, unquote, now, you know, maybe the power will shift. We’ll see with Brita coming in. But those that have been previously in power the last two years, they don’t see and or talk to the people that I’m referring to that I get to talk to on a regular basis. No, they don’t. They have no idea they even exist, Andy.
SPEAKER 11 :
No, they don’t.
SPEAKER 04 :
They don’t run in those circles, is my point. This is sort of like, and I hate to go back and keep using church examples, but it’s so appropriate that I’ve got to keep going back and using them. This would have been like if, let’s say, all Jesus ever hung out with were church folk. He came to change the world, by the way, which he did a great job of because, of course, he is God incarnate, but he changed the world. But let’s face it, he also got crucified over a lot of things that he believed in, and that was part of God’s plan and so on, and I understand all that. But regardless, did he hang around only, Andy, with the spiritual folk of the day? No. In other words, did he get out of the comfort zone of even some of those that were quote-unquote spiritual? No.
SPEAKER 11 :
He did, and by the way, I want to remind people, back then when you sat down and ate with somebody, you were saying, I’ll always be there for you. I am there for you. You are making a statement by eating with them.
SPEAKER 05 :
Breaking bread.

When he ate and broke bread with sinners, he was saying, not just, hey, I’m doing my outreach.
SPEAKER 05 :
No, I’m with you.
SPEAKER 04 :
I got your back. I’m with you. I’m there for you. Yep. So, folks, again, the problem we have, I think, in… The particular leadership that we have right now, and again, I hope Britta can change some of this, is we flat out have a lot of individuals that never go out of their own little market ever. They’re very introverted, if you would. They’re very closed in as far as the people that they even associate with. and they don’t have any opportunity to even associate with all the people that I do on a regular basis. And by the way, my reach isn’t all that wide. You start walking the streets of Denver or go hang out at the mall and start doing some questions and answers and so on, you’ll get a whole different idea of what’s actually going on in Colorado than what you think.
SPEAKER 11 :
Okay, one other quick issue that you can sell. Let’s look at education. It’s a simple one. It takes 30 seconds. You know, what we do, what do we do? We demand that those teachers unions get away from our kids. We demand that we get choice in schools right now. Or we lecture people on the results. You know, these schools, homeschooling, school choice, they get better results. We have the worst results in the world and all this. We treat them as bad or dumb. How about if you go to them and say this? Your child’s success is my only agenda. And I think it should be the only agenda in public schools.
SPEAKER 04 :
And I think you should have a choice in how that comes out for your own child.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, because nobody cares more about your child’s success than you. Okay, now you’re selling to them. Do you think that’s going to win more people, John?
SPEAKER 04 :

No, that person right now, by the way, I truly believe is very – scared at what’s going on in the Colorado GOP because they know that this change at the helm is going to empower more Republicans to do things that they hadn’t been doing in the past. And trust me, yes, a Democrat’s going to come out right now and say, oh, yeah, we got you right where we want you. Yeah, no, you don’t. No, you don’t. That guy’s a knucklehead.

No, and this idea that the Democrats are afraid of Dave Williams?
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, no. No. I mean, they love Dave Williams. There was a tweet that was put out that, you know, we just screwed up. Dave was our best chance for unity, and he did so great at mobilizing the base and this, that, and the other. Yeah, that guy would love to see Dave stay because he knows that it’s his best chance to continue to keep his party alive. moving forward in Colorado, keep his job, and so on. So please, anybody on that side of the equation, don’t think for one second that that guy is being truthful because the reality is Shaw or whatever his name is, yeah, he is not truthful at all. That guy, I’ll just tell you straight up. That guy is afraid right now of what’s going on. He’s afraid of what might change inside of the party. He’s afraid of somebody like a Brit of Horn that can come in and essentially take some small bites like we’ve been talking about for the last hour or so. Believe me, that person is a lot more afraid of what’s going on right now than they lead on.
SPEAKER 11 :
John, Colorado underperformed dramatically in the last red wave. They know that. You don’t think the Democrats know that? They do. You don’t think they understand? Well, yeah, but we gained back like three seats or something like that. I keep telling people, in a year when Kamala Harris failed to flip a single district in the entire nation, we only gained three seats. Guys, we romped in a lot of states. Mm-hmm. OK, we had one of the biggest underperformances, one of the worst performances of any state in the entire country for the Republicans based on 2020 versus 2024.
SPEAKER 04 :
And by the way, and the Democrats know this as well. Oh, they know this. Had Dave Williams had his way with his own candidates and who he actually was endorsing, we would have lost. It would have been a lot worse.
SPEAKER 11 :
We would have lost the House of Representatives. Right now, Donald Trump would not have the House of Representatives had we gone with the endorsements of the state party. That’s right. That’s right.
SPEAKER 04 :
It’s as simple as that.
SPEAKER 11 :
We would have lost three seats.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s right. I don’t understand.
SPEAKER 11 :
The Democrats know this. I mean, for crying out loud, their own candidate was donating money to help one of those candidates, Ron Hanks, try to win in the primary because they didn’t want to face Jeff Hurd.

Putting out videos to actually vote for Ron Hanks and so on. And so, yeah, the reality is, folks, trust me, some of you that are on that side that have reposted what the Democrat chair has said, I don’t normally.
SPEAKER 11 :
The Democrat chair put that out because they want to help the group in our party that they know is bad for the party.
SPEAKER 04 :
And I don’t want to call names to any of those individuals on that side. I’m done with that. But I will just say this. Like I always say, really think about what you’re posting. Is it accurate or not? Take the emotion out of it. Step back. Look at it. Think intelligently about what you’re actually posting or, in this case, reposting. And then say to yourself, hmm, what really is going on here?

Yeah, why do you think the Democrat chair is trying to arm the people who just lost the Colorado Republican Party?
SPEAKER 04 :
Because he wants them back.
SPEAKER 11 :
He wants them back. He’s trying to give you… Do you honestly think that they look at Dave Williams, the guy who put out the God hates pride… You know, I mean, right.
SPEAKER 04 :
The guy flags.
SPEAKER 11 :
God hates flags. And the guy who told us to literally burn other people’s private property. Right. OK. Do you think that they’re afraid of having him in leadership? No. Or someone like him? They were. I guarantee you. Look, I’m an ex-Democrat. OK. I was raised by that side. I know the Democrats inside and out. This is why I teach people how to message with them. Look, folks, I guarantee you the Democrats were wanting Laurie Sane. And I don’t say that out of any hatred for Lori Sane.

No, that’s strategically what they would like.
SPEAKER 11 :
That is strategically what they would like. They understand that Lori Sane and her messaging is not going to sell in this state.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right. They know that. Right. You’re correct, Andy. You’re 100% correct. And so, again, for some of you that either are on that side or you’ve got the ability to interject some of what we’ve talked about today to those folks, I would highly encourage you to do so. I’m at a point where… Literally, in the last couple of days, I’m so tired of the knuckleheads that are there that some of these folks I have literally just unfriended. I’m not going to listen to them anymore. I’m not going to follow them anymore. I’m not going to be bothered by some of them. Not that I was ever bothered by what they say, but I’m not even going to try to respond and or talk about some of that stuff even on air. It’s not worth my breath because, unfortunately, the intelligence level of that side isn’t very high.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, it can be lacking, yes.
SPEAKER 04 :
I’ve said it before, and I’ve been accused by folks texting in that I’m very rude when I say those things. But, folks, when you don’t understand basic strategy and how to reach the market that’s in front of you, yes, you’re a little numb to what’s going on around you. You’re a little dunce in what’s going on around you. Evidently, you haven’t opened your eyes enough to really see what’s going on, to really understand what you need to do to make changes necessary to move the football forward.

Right.

That’s all I’m saying.

Look, guys, you can’t win a football game throwing Hail Marys all game.

You’ll lose, Andy.

Right. Okay. Along those same lines, and I think Richard would appreciate that. I don’t play a lot of video games. But when he was little, we’d play a little bit of Madden and things like that. And, you know me, I’m kind of a strategist and so on, so I would run different plays that would gain me two yards, three yards, five yards, whatever, and I’d just keep moving the football forward. down the field, and all the while, of course, Richard Young, you know, what’s Richard doing? Throwing Hail Marys. Right. And nine times out of ten, Andy, I would win most of those football games because, to your point, you can’t win, and that’s a video game, but you can’t win by just throwing Hail Marys constantly. Right. You’re going to lose.

This is what I keep telling these people, John, and we’ll close with this. I keep telling them, guys, we’re not different. We both want the ball in the end zone. We both have the same beliefs on Second Amendment, abortion, da-da-da-da-da-da-da.

We believe the exact same thing on free speech, all these things, but we believe that you’ve got to get first downs to get there. That’s right.
