And I’ve had a very reflective weekend. I’ve thought a lot about the whole MAGA, Make America Great Again, which I think that we all really want to have America be great again. But how is it that America is great? Well, maybe it’s that we start a new movement, and it’s called MAFA, and that’s Make America Free Again. Because as I’m looking at some of the things in this big, beautiful bill, there’s some things that seem to make a lot of sense. And then there’s some things that I’m very concerned about. And the things that I’m concerned about are the things that make us less free. And so we need to make sure that we are pushing to always and freedom as my friend, well, liberty. as my friend Ben Martin says, is that liberty is the responsible exercise of freedom. And we need to, I guess, continue to move towards liberty. And so maybe… Maybe it’s a MAFA make America free again, but we always have to be checking this litmus test of the vision of our declaration that all men are created equal with these rights from God of life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, and that we are all created in the image of God. We’re all creators. So we’re going to continue the discussions about all of these things here today. So thank you, Don, for reaching out and wanting to make sure that we had that clarification. Our word of the day is demagogue, and it is spelled D-E-M-A-G-O-G-U-E. And thank you, Dave, for the suggestion on that. And number one, it could be a leader who obtains power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace. Number two, it could be a leader of the common people in ancient times. And number three, it could be a leader of the rabble, one who attempts to control the multitude by specious or deceitful arts, an unprincipled or fascist mob order or political leader. And so our challenge is to use the word demagogue in a sentence today. And I would say watching all of the commentary or looking at the commentary regarding these L.A. riots, there’s a lot of demagoguery. Particularly, I find it interesting that there are Democrats that have been on the Sunday show saying that it was peaceful when everything I look at regarding what’s happening in L.A. is doesn’t look very peaceful to me right now. And so we’re going to actually in the last segment of our number two, we’ll talk with Chris Harris, who is a retired border agent in the San Diego sector, to get his read on what is happening on all of this. Our quote of the day, I went to Russell Kirk, and Russell Kirk was born in 1918. He died in 1994. He was an American political philosopher, moralist, historian, social critic, literary critic, author, and novelist who influenced 20th century American conservatism. In 1953, he authored The Conservative Mind, which traced the development of conservative thought in the Anglo-American tradition, and Edmund Burke. And the book helped influence the post-World War II American conservative movement. And he said this. He said, a just government maintains a healthy tension between the claims of authority and the claims of liberty. And, again, that’s Russell Kirk. And so when I talk about Make America Free Again, again, One of them, Maggie Thatcher, said that you can’t have political freedom unless you have economic freedom. I think I’m going to use that. You know what, Jodi? I think that this is the movement that we really need to get going because I did a presentation recently up at Perspectives 101 as the way out. And the way out, we’ve got the template, and it’s this vision of our declaration. than played out in the Constitution. And we need to really be working to hold everybody accountable to these constitutional principles. And if we do, then we can make America free again, Jodi.

I completely agree. I completely agree. And, you know, I see too often times in my business, people are burdened when it comes to their finances and their financial freedom. And so love the terminology. And there’s a lot of things that people can do when it comes to their financial freedom to become free when it comes to their resources and their independence.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, and that’s what you are in the business of doing is helping people with that, whether or not they’re starting out on their financial freedom journey or if they’ve been investing for a long time. You can put together that plan to assure their financial freedom, which, as Maggie Thatcher said, you really can’t have freedom unless you have financial freedom, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
I completely agree, and I would say that there’s a couple of things that I would recommend that everybody could do to achieve that independence and freedom. You mentioned it right away. It’s just having a plan. I mean, too many times we see people kind of bumping around in the dark, and you really can’t find that financial freedom if you don’t actually have a plan or a strategy. And I kind of use the analogy of you going out to build a house. You don’t just start by putting up walls and concrete. You have to start with that blueprint. And financial planning is the same thing. You have to start with the plan first before you start picking independent or investments or stocks or anything like that. You have to have the plan in place first before you can actually start implementing that plan. And then the second part of that, which is really hard, is the discipline to actually stick with the plan. And, you know, this year has been a perfect test of that discipline, especially with some of the volatility and the craziness that we’ve seen, you know, for the first half of the year is, you know, really kind of sticking with the plan when things get a little bit uncomfortable. So having that plan and then having that discipline to stick with the plan.

And we are going to focus on that big time. And of course, the opposite of freedom is tyranny. And how do you get to tyranny? Well, with chaos and confusion. And we are seeing that play out big time right now in Los Angeles. And this first thing is AFP. It says Trump sends military force to L.A. over immigration protests. And this is a rare deployment that he sent over against the state governor’s wishes after sometimes violent protests against immigration enforcement raids. Says Trump took federal control of California state military to push soldiers into the country’s second biggest city. a decision deemed purposely inflammatory by California Governor Gavin Newsom and a kind of not seen for decades, according to U.S. media. So this certainly is controversial, but it seems that Gavin Newsom should be trying to protect the citizens of Los Angeles. So we’re going to talk with Chris Harris in the next hour about this a bit. um but uh this is what you know those that want to promote tyranny promote chaos division confusion and that is what’s playing out right now in los angeles next thing and i’m there’s there’s two things that i’m really well backing up i thought okay i i just need to go read the big beautiful bill this weekend My friends, I could not get through the table of contents. And that’s of a lot of concern when we have legislation that is so huge that we can’t even get through the table of contents. But this is putting laws onto us. This is something that’s of great concern. Now, my understanding is there’s spending cuts in there. both on Medicaid and SNAP programs. And I’d like to lower taxes across the board so that people have more money in their pockets so that they can afford their food and that they can afford their medical care instead of these government programs. Because these government programs, whenever they’re involved, the price goes up, the supply goes down, and the quality can be very crummy as well. We’ll just put it that way. And so there’s some some good things from what I hear in the bill. Lowering or making Trump tax cuts from 2017 permanent. Love that idea. Don’t love a couple of other things, though. And this is this is connected. Now, Doge. It says the Supreme Court, this is from The Hill, says Supreme Court hands Doge big wins in Social Security records cases. And on one hand, this seems great because we realize there’s all this waste, fraud, and abuse, and we want to stop that because all of that goes into these higher taxes, fees, takes more money out of everyday people’s pockets, and also creates more debt for our next generation. The however is that having the federal government have more and more information about all of us, which then plays out into this big AI thing, this artificial intelligence. And artificial intelligence, so this goes to AP. It says House Republicans include a 10-year ban on states regulating AI in the big, beautiful bill. Well, what is AI and artificial intelligence? Ultimately, it is all of this data that they’re going to be collecting will be data that will be all these data points on everyday Americans. And this could play out in the future with something very, very dangerous. And I go back to the we’ve got the template here in our Constitution, and that is the Fourth Amendment. It says the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated. and no warrant shall issue but upon probable cause supported by oath or affirmation and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized now with technology we’ve all loved the convenience of technology And we probably have given, you know, when we say we agree to the legalities, we are technically giving up our rights to our information. We need to be electing those that will be putting forth legislation that we, the individual, owns our data, not a data company. and not now going to the federal government. And so this 10-year ban on states regulating AI, I find this somewhat of great concern. And so hopefully we’re going to have people that are going to be pushing back on this, which this connects this to this next dot. And, again, love to make America great again. When Americans are doing great, then the rest of the world is doing great. But let’s get the proper basis. So let’s get to MAFA, and that is make America free again. This is from Newsmax. It says, Trump says, pick of Palantir to surveil Americans sparks concern. And Palantir, and I watched some of the interviews with the head of Palantir, says on Friday, the New York Times reported that Palantir, the AI-focused software and military contractor, has expanded its work across the federal government in recent months after it had been tapped by President Donald Trump for to create detailed portraits or a digital id on americans which could easily merge data on americans throughout agencies such as from the irs the department of homeland security the health and human services department the social security administration and the department of education It says the development comes after Trump signed an executive order in March charging the federal government to share data across agencies in the name of stopping waste, fraud and abuse. That sounds great. Then things can start to be used nefariously. It says Palantir employees told the New York Times that the company’s engineers have been quietly discussing creating a digital ID for Americans and that they had grown worried about placing such sensitive data in one place. It says current employees are discussing the implications of their work and raising questions internally, said Linda Jia, a former Palantir engineer. Data that is collected for one reason should not be repurposed for other uses, she said. Combining all that data, even with the noblest of intentions, significantly increases the risk of misuse. Yes, I totally agree with her. In early May, 13 former Palantir employees, she being one of them, Gia being one of them, signed a letter condemning the company’s breach of transparency, free speech, and rigorous debate on the impact of technology. It says anonymous government officials told the Times that Palantir’s pick to create a program compiling data on Americans was driven by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. The vague assertion does not lend one with much to go on. However, to DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, Palantir has had contracts with the federal government for 14 years. So I’m very concerned about that. And then this last article here, and this is from Xemaphore. It says, Republican privacy advocates in Congress are criticizing the Trump administration’s work with tech giant Palantir to analyze what could become a massive pool of government data on Americans. President Trump signed that order in March, as we mentioned, and to remove these unnecessary boundaries. or these barriers. And it goes on to say, it’s very dangerous, Representative Warren Davidson, Republican from Ohio, told some before, when you start combining all those data points on an individual into one database, it really essentially creates a digital ID. And it’s a power that history says will eventually be abused. And it says, I hope to turn it off fundamentally, Davidson added. He compared a Palantir-facilitated merged database to the dangerously powerful ring from the Lord of the Rings. The only good thing to do with one ring to rule them all is to destroy everything. the ring and so it says resistance like davidson’s is striking because few congressional republicans have publicly challenged the president since his second term began and neither the sweeping cutbacks of doge nor trump’s punitive global tariffs have caused a real gop rebellion the party is currently reinterpreting years uh a fury about deficits to push through a mega bill that adds trillions of dollars in debt. We will talk regarding that trillions in debt. That is up for debate on that. So stay tuned. We’ll talk with Wade Miller with the Center for Renewing America about that on Wednesday morning. Absolutely. Freedom is so important, and so is safety. Safety goes along with it. And what we’re seeing with these riots in L.A., soon to spread to other cities, including Denver, very likely, people are not going to be safe anymore either. And that should be a priority as well.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, it absolutely is a priority. It has to be a priority. And I think that’s probably why Trump sent the National Guard in into Los Angeles is to try to prevent this from moving to other cities. And I know it’s controversial that he’s done it, but I would think that’s probably his reasoning on that, Dr. June Depth.
SPEAKER 06 :
I would agree. It’s out of hand. The California officials are not doing anything. They’re, they’re letting this happen. And I’m half a mind to say to Trump, just let LA burn. LA voted for Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom. And, uh, part of me says, pull all the federal, uh, law enforcement out of there and let them figure it out. If they want to destroy their city, have at it. Um, Because the riots continue. Trump sends in National Guard and the media just piles on him, blaming him for the riots. And he’s not. He’s trying to stop it. So either have to stop it decisively or just let it burn. People voted for this. Karen Bass is not a Republican. She’s a communist. She’s a Castro sympathizer. This is who the people elected. And she’s derelict in her duty, as is Gavin Newsom. They’re way behind the curve on this, just as they were with the fires last year. And why should Trump have to go in and clean up their mess? I have a problem with that. But I also understand that L.A. is part of America and he’s in charge of America and he has to do what he needs to do to restore law and order and safety because these are rent-a-mobs. A lot of these people, I bet if they rounded them all up, most would be from somewhere besides L.A. These are not local L.A. How many are illegals? And they’re destroying a once beautiful city. The police headquarters is under attack. as of last night, this morning. I mean, this can’t stand. This is anarchy, and if this was happening in another country, you better believe our three-letter agencies, CIA, State Department, etc., would be in there trying to quell things, or it would be part of regime change, a color revolution. This is a color revolution going on in America. And I’d like to know who’s behind it. I’d like to know what government agencies are funding it. I’d like to know who pays for these pallets of bricks that are being delivered to downtown LA, just huge pallets of bricks that are being thrown at buildings and thrown at law enforcement and cars. Somebody delivered those, somebody paid for it. That shouldn’t be that hard to trace back and figure out where is that from? Uh, this is, this is a revolution. And, um, It’s a problem, and I’m quite certain it’s going to go to other cities. This is just the start. This is a repeat of summer of 2020 with the George Floyd riots and already seeing rumblings of things in Denver and Aurora, and it’ll be next. And, of course, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, other big cities. This is all organized, all being funded. The posters are being made. nice, clean, neat posters they just happen to have ready to go. It shouldn’t be that difficult to trace this back. And that’s where Kash Patel’s FBI could be doing yeoman’s work at figuring out where these signs were made, who paid for them, who’s behind this. That’s the real issue. And to stop this, you have to cut off the head of the snake just going after the rioters. These are crazy young people that are On hormones or on drugs or who knows what they’re on, but they’re basically a rent-a-bob. Somebody’s in charge. Somebody’s strategizing this and funding it, and that’s where it needs to stop.

What do you think their end game is, Dr. June Depp? Because this destroys people’s lives. It destroys people’s businesses. So what do you think the end game is? Is it control of America, ultimately? Or what do you think it is?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I think it is control, and it’s destruction of the Western values, our constitutional republic and the Western values that make America stand out in the world. I think it’s a destruction. They hate those Western values. And I think they would love martial law declared, set the precedent, have a revolution, and then get their people in charge of the martial law. And then it’s a dictatorship. Make Trump set the precedent by starting the crackdown and somehow they take over. And that could happen. You’d say, oh, it can’t happen. Well, it’s happened in many other countries, these color revolutions. And I think that’s their goal. It’s ultimately the destruction of the America that we know.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, explain a color revolution. I’ve heard that term, but I’m not sure that I’m clear on exactly what that means.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, it’s basically what we do in other countries. It’s U.S. agencies, typically State Department, CIA, they are funding and supporting protests and revolutions in other countries. They’re organizing it and they use it to overthrow a government. Arab Spring was a color revolution and overthrew at least the Egyptian government. There was a color revolution in Ukraine back in, I think, 2014. which ousted the duly elected president of Ukraine, and that was the start of the current conflict we’re seeing now 10 years later. It’s U.S. agencies and their NGOs that they fund. That’s what you said it’s all about. It’s all these unaccountable agencies that are getting taxpayer money, and they’re funding stuff. They’re funding these L.A. riots. But they get their mobs. They have a strategy. It’s, you know, Saul Alinsky-type stuff. And they destabilize the government, and the media hops on and protests and demands for new elections, and all of a sudden it’s a new regime. And it never works out well. I mean, it didn’t work out well in the Arab Spring that Obama was behind, and Egypt ended up with a Muslim Brotherhood leader. He didn’t last long, but that’s what the goal is. It’s a regime change and a change in the direction of the country. It’s a fomented revolution, if you will.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, this is really scary, Dr. June Depth. I’ve really been very reflective on all this stuff this weekend, and I’m just very concerned about the direction of our country and what we are passing on to our next generation. I’ve just been very troubled by what’s going on.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m very disappointed with our leadership. Where are members of Congress speaking out about this? All I see is a couple of Democrats, Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff from California. All they do is decry Trump, you know, Trump’s a bully and he’s this and he’s that. We’re the Republicans. There’s a majority Republicans in the House and Senate. I haven’t seen any of them on the media saying anything about this. They’re quite quiet about all this. And the media, of course, the media is piling on and they’re doing what they did in 2020. They’re calling this peaceful protests. Meanwhile, you see cars on fire and smoke and tear gas and police getting injured and attacked. It’s not peaceful protest. But that’s the talking points on the media. CNN, MSNBC, oh, these protests are mostly peaceful. Well, tell that to the police officers that are injured. We’re not hearing about that. We’re just hearing about, oh, mean Trump, and he’s calling in the National Guard, and he didn’t. dot the i and cross the t the way gavin newsom wants and he’s a dictator and meanwhile newsom’s doing nothing and his largest city is burning and where does it spread it’s going to spread to the suburbs of los angeles and the virtue signaling liberals that are in in santa monica and bretwood beverly hills you know wait till it’s on their doorstep And that’s what’s going to be next. And we’re going to see it in other cities. I’m sure we’re going to see it in Denver this week. I’d be very surprised if something similar. And that’ll be a test of Denver and Colorado leadership, the mayor and the governor. Let’s see what they do. It’ll be interesting. It’s not good. And this is not the way the country should be. And this This needs to be put down quickly. This is truly an insurrection, not January 6th. This is the insurrection. And if our government can’t protect people and property, what good is it?
SPEAKER 20 :
Right, because that’s – I said to Joe, I said, hey, Joe, I need to make sure I have my Constitution here in front of me because that is one of the first – the things in the preamble, it says, we the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility. provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare. And general welfare is not meaning that we have big welfare programs where we take from one person to give to another. It means that we have a society where generally it’s healthy and people can go after their hopes and dreams. And then lastly, to secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity. Do ordain and establish this Constitution in the United States of America. That is what government is supposed to be doing, Dr. Brian June-Depth.
SPEAKER 06 :
It is. It’s supposed to protect that. The general welfare is that people can go to work, they can have a business, and they can lock the door at night and their business will be there in the morning, not smash the windows and loot it. And that they’re safe and they’re safe where they live, their work, their families are safe, their kids can go to school. They can conduct normal life. And if you live in an inner city like that, you can’t. We saw that in 2020. How many businesses were destroyed? How much property damage? What about those people? And it’s only going to hurt the people that live there, because when these businesses are destroyed, most of them are not going to be rebuilt. Who’s going to go back and put their hard-earned money into rebuilding? They’re going to say, the heck with this, and move to Texas or Oklahoma and run their business there. And you see in these big cities that it’s become a desert. There’s no pharmacies, so the Older and sick individuals that live there have to go miles to get their prescriptions filled. Grocery stores are leaving. Walmarts, a lot of these things, and the stores that do exist, everything’s behind plexiglass. It’s a war zone. I was in New York a couple years ago and went into CVS or the equivalent, and everything’s behind plexiglass. You can’t. How do you shop? And there’s only one person working in the store, and she’s at the register, and she’s not going to leave the register to open the plexiglass. How do you buy anything? And I saw some homeless guy just come in, and there were a couple boxes of cereal that weren’t behind plexiglass. He just took them, walked out the door. Work doesn’t care. She’s an hourly worker, but these stores can’t survive. These are low-margin businesses, and And they can’t survive long term. And you destroy these neighborhoods in Los Angeles. What about the people that live there and depend on this? What about their general welfare?

That’s gone. And that’s the responsibility of the mayor, the city council. Above that, the governor. Above that, the president. Why does the president have to step in? It’s like a squabble in the school. You know, some students misbehaving. The teacher should deal with that. You don’t need the school superintendent to. tried in to take care of that. That should be the teacher, and at worst, the principal. And here we have the president having to step in because nobody’s doing anything. They’re just letting L.A. burn. That’s their legacy.

And I thought that we should mention the piece that I had teased that we were going to talk about before we continue this discussion. And that is Joe Biden and his auto pin. Although it seems like it’s a little old news now with everything that’s going on. But I did want to talk a little bit about that.

Well, it shouldn’t be old news. This In my article, I raised the issue of forgery, that this is forging somebody’s signature on official government documents, and that’s a federal crime. And the question is, who authorized it? What did Biden know? Did he authorize it? If he’s not capable of signing his own name, was he capable of being president? Was he really in charge, or was this another insurrection of other people assuming the role of president. I mean, we saw President Trump sign 50 executive orders on his first day in office, and they’re all on video. We watched them sign, and he held it up showing his signature. Why can’t Biden do that? If Biden can’t even sign his own name, is he making decisions? And if not, who is? And are these decisions legally valid? Forged documents are null and void. What about all the pardons, the executive orders, the death row commutations? Congress is investigating, and Trump has directed the DOJ to investigate, but like everything else, it’s moving in slow motion. And who knows if there’s going to be any accountability or reckoning for this. And if there isn’t, it will continue and happen in the future. Some future president will install some stiff that’s not cognitively there, but can get elected, and then background people run the show. This is like the old Soviet Politburo where, you know, Brezhnev and Chernyanko and these other people that they trot out for May Day Parade, and the rest of the time they’re probably in a hospital bed. Who’s running the show? Who’s in charge? And you can’t have that in America. You need a very visible, active, vibrant president that you know is out there making the decisions. And Trump is, because you see the pressers he’s holding daily. He’s answering questions, whether on Air Force One or on the tarmac. You know he’s engaged and he knows what’s going on with everything. Whatever they ask him, he’s got an answer for. Biden, no. He wanders off. They can’t ask him questions. He’s I mean, it’s clear he wasn’t in charge. And the question is, who was? And are the decisions that have been made, are they legally valid? Or are these all forged signatures that makes them invalid? That’s a good question for the Supreme Court, and I suspect that’s where it will end up.

Wow. Okay. Well, excellent piece at American Thinker, President Autopen and the Crime of Forgery, and that was published June 2nd, so just really recently. Let’s go back over, Dr. June Depp, with what’s happening in America right now. We know the recipe. The recipe is the individual understanding. their responsibility as a citizen for in a free society. It seems pretty daunting. I talked in the first part of the show, my concern about these data centers and all of this data on individuals all in one place. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out this could be a big problem down the road. And the fact that in the big, beautiful bill that they put in there that states can’t do anything to regulate data centers for 10 years, that’s a big red flag to me, Dr. June Depth.
SPEAKER 06 :
I would agree. In terms of being anonymous or so-called off the grid, that ship has sailed. Anybody that’s flown on an airplane… Everything’s facial recognition. I flew this past weekend, and I didn’t show ID. I didn’t do anything. Went through Clear and TSA, and all they do is take a picture of my face, and I’m cleared to get on the airplane. So we are already in government databases. And, yes, that can be abused. There’s huge potential. The technology is great. This is wonderful stuff, but only if used properly. If not, you know, AI can put you at the scene of a crime that you were not at. They can put stuff on your computer or on your phone. You can be set up as a patsy and then they block you up. That’s the dangerous part. AI is so realistic that there can be crime video of you murdering somebody and you’re, you know, 100 miles away. And good luck getting out of that. So if it’s used properly, it’s great. It’s like a scalpel or morphine or fentanyl or anything else. If it’s used properly in the hands of a trained physician, these are wonderful drugs and instruments. But if they’re used incorrectly, I mean, fentanyl is a perfect example. In operating rooms, intensive care units, fentanyl is a wonderful drug and accomplishes a lot. But when laced with Adderall and some teenagers taking it to do well on their exam, not so good. So it’s how it’s used. AI is great, but you have to trust that the government is not going to misuse it. And I don’t think you or I or most people that are listening trust the government that they’re not going to misuse it.

First of all, speaking truth into these issues and then searching for transparency, shedding light on what is happening there. And remember these foundational principles of our Declaration of Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness. Very concerned about a couple of things in this big, beautiful bill. One of those is these data centers. There is no reason that we need to be collecting all this data on Americans. And technology it’s a cool thing when dr june depp said he didn’t even have to show any id to get on an airplane because of facial recognition on one hand that’s really cool and on the other hand it’s really scary and so we need to make sure that we adhere to our constitution and that is the fourth amendment Basically, it says that we should be secure in our, here we go, the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated. And I think that these data centers really are going to, they have the potential to violate that. And I don’t know how we get the guardrails around this, but to have for 10 years something unfettered on that is not a good idea. And then also, I know that we’ll talk with Trent Luce about this on Wednesday, but the South Dakota delegation went to Washington and indicated their concerns about the CO2 pipelines and the tax incentives around that as well. And this was reported by KELO. It says, taking the CO2 pipeline fight to Washington, Republican gubernatorial candidate John Hanson and his running mate, Representative Carla Lims, led a group to Washington recently working on a carbon capture pipeline provisions included in the so-called Big Beautiful Bill, One concern was to ensure provisions removed by the House to transfer control of approval and location of CO2 pipelines from the states to the federal government were not placed back in the bill. And we’ve got to make sure, and the founders knew that we needed to make sure that states had sovereignty over things that the federal government wasn’t supposed to be having, didn’t have the power to do. So this is pretty important what the South Dakota delegation has done. And we have these important discussions because we get to work with really great people. And I’m talking with Roger Mangan with the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Team, great sponsor of the show. And Roger, recently I traveled and ended up renting a car. And so I reached out to you as I was going through the different options of additional things that you could purchase as you’re renting a car. And one of them was a damage waiver. And so I gave you a call. You were able to give me some great advice. What should people know about rental car damage waivers?
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay, so you go to a rental agency, they always ask you if you want to waive the deductible that they have on that car in the event you have an accident in their car. So you really don’t have to buy that because it’s duplicating coverage. So if you have a car with full coverage in your household in Colorado and you go to San Diego or you go to someplace and you have a rental car all lined up, and they say, do you want to buy this waiver? And they’re going to charge you substantially for that waiver, and when I say substantially, somewhere between $20 and $30 a day, okay? So what do you gain by doing that? Well, first of all, you have full coverage from your car in Colorado, as long as it’s fully covered, to that rental car. So it’s just as though you drove your own car to San Diego and you had an accident. We’re going to take care of their rental car like it’s your car. No questions The problem you have when you have that accident in that rental car using your coverage from Colorado is if the car that’s damaged cannot be put back into service for two weeks, they have the right to charge you for what they could have rented that car for. So $30 a day times 10 days, you owe them $300. And most of them aren’t 30, they’re 50. So you could owe them $500 because you caused their rental car not to be serviceable. In addition to that, they can charge you for repairs to the car up to their deductible. So it’s like you could be out probably anywhere from $300 to $1,000 out of your pocket, not covered by your insurance. if you have an accident in a rental car. So to solve that, we put on a non-owned auto endorsement, which, by the way, is about $26 per six months, and it allows you then to use your policy to cover those expenses I just indicated. Loss of use of that rental car by the rental agency. And the damage repair waiver, we’re going to waive your collision deductible if you have an accident in that car. So if you have a $500 collision deductible, you will not have to pay that $500, okay? Very good.

I mean, if you travel a lot, you really should have that coverage. Okay, that seems like that makes a lot of sense. And so that’s just an additional endorsement to put onto your auto insurance then, yes? Yes, yes. And since I talked with you the other day, Scott Powell, because you and I were just thinking about what is it, what can we do? There’s so much going on in our country right now. And I came up with this, MAFA, Make America Free Again. And I think that’s what we need to focus on.

Absolutely. I mean, most Americans don’t even understand how we got to this place where we are. It started a long time ago, actually. You could trace sort of the departure from our constitutional republic back to the 1800s. But certainly things got launched at the time of Teddy Roosevelt. He was a Republican, actually, but he probably advanced statism more. He was more radical in some of his ideas than Woodrow Wilson, who was a two-term president, first elected in 1912. And Wilson did a tremendous amount to undermine that. because of the length of his term. He was a two-term president. And we ended up creating a lot of institutions. I mean, the income tax was established by the 16th Amendment. The Federal Reserve Bank was established during that time. And all of this really transformed America and moved America away from a constitutional republic wherein we have elected officials who we hold accountable for what they do. And when they don’t perform, we have the prerogative to vote them out of office, and we have frequent elections. I mean, the legislators who make the laws are up for election every two years. So that’s a pretty short window for – it gives us as citizens the opportunity to really turn over the bad legislators, the charlatans, the dishonest people, the big spenders, and so forth. But that march through the institutions in America continued, and we’re really at a place now where America is more of an administrative state than it is a constitutional republic, where we have unelected officials running these government agencies that are making all kinds of rulings that really are tantamount to law, and they’re not elected. And this is a huge part of our problem. So Trump comes along and wants to upset the apple cart, and he surrounds himself with like-minded people this time, which is terrific. And this fallout between Musk and Trump shouldn’t be – overly alarming. You know, this is high stakes, and these are very successful, big ego people. And, you know, Musk, I think, was offended when Trump took away the subsidy for electric vehicles. But Musk knew that that was coming. I mean, Donald Trump has made no mistake about his support for traditional energy sources, notably, you know, drill, baby, drill in terms of oil and gas and gas-powered cars. uh… and uh… so he knew that was coming that didn’t upset him too much but i think it was when white house aide sergio gore examined uh… this uh… nomination of this gentleman named jared isaac men uh… for heading been heading nasa and and he was a uh… a friend and business colleague of elon musk elon musk is the one who recommended him and uh… the fact the fact is though uh… Jared Isaacman had been supporting Democrat candidates almost exclusively. He was a Democrat and supported Democrats. So when Trump learned about this, he quickly decided that he shouldn’t take a chance with Jared Isaacman running NASA. The big lesson of the first term was Trump’s first administration term. Trump 45, if you will, was that you need loyal people around you. You need like-minded people and you don’t want to take any chances with, you don’t want to compromise on that issue. And Trump’s administration, Trump 47 administration, has really been powerful because he’s surrounded himself with like-minded people almost everywhere. And so Jared Eisenman was a huge risk. And NASA is such an important – it’s a very important institution, and that really upset Elon Musk. I think he was under a lot of pressure, and he just broke. He hasn’t been looking that well. He’s been overworked, under a lot of pressure, and I think he just – that was sort of the event that really set Musk off. But I think that people have come to their senses – Both, you know, Musk and Donald Trump’s a very forgiving man. And I don’t think this fallout is going to remain an impediment. But I think Musk has got to get back to minding his businesses a little bit. But he did say that he would be, you know, checking in on the Doge process. He was upset that, you know, more of his spending cuts were not in this, you know, big, beautiful bill. But legislation is always a compromise. You don’t get everything you want. You never do.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, I’m concerned about two big things in this big, beautiful bill. And one of those is these data centers. I’m concerned about all of the collection of data on everyday Americans and then the amount of energy that will be taken from everyday Americans making energy more expensive and to go to these data centers. So I’m really concerned about that. And then I’m also concerned about eminent domain and the CO2 pipelines, Scott Powell. And so when I talk about making America free again, we need to be free in our persons and we need to be free in our property. And those two things I’m concerned about.
SPEAKER 12 :
I am too. I am too. You know, freedom and liberty are really contingent on a few things. And one of them is property rights, a very important one. So eminent domain should be used really as a last resort. But I’m with you, Kim. You know, one would hope that – I haven’t quite followed the higher energy cost because of these data centers. These data centers are huge, enormous consumers of energy, right, and we’re going to end up paying for it. That’s what you’re saying, right?
SPEAKER 20 :
Yes. And the other thing is, is everyday Americans have been, really they’ve tried to cower us into being so concerned about climate change, our carbon footprint. I think that’s another thing that I’m concerned about. All of this data could be then create some kind of a digital ID on our, air quotes, carbon footprint that could then be used to control, where we go, what we eat. And so I’m super concerned about that. And I hope it sounds kind of tin hat-ish. However, if you can conceive it, it can happen, right?
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, yes, absolutely. I think so long as Donald Trump’s main agenda remains intact, the odds of that happening are high. are not 50-50. They’re below that, I think, but I can’t say for sure. That’s the problem with the administrative state, is that we have embedded throughout these agencies, be it EPA or Department of the Interior, we have people that really totally buy into man-made CO2 as being a you know, a primary driver of the climate and climate change. I mean, they finally had to acknowledge that global warming wasn’t really happening. And then they shifted to climate change. And it’s a very easy one to, you know, to gin up concern about people because the weather is so unpredictable and it can be very violent. And so when there’s a bad, destructive storm, you know, and you blame it on climate change that is because of, increased CO2 emissions, man-made CO2 emissions, it’s a recipe for manipulating the public. And they know how to do it. But the fact is that we have very little influence on the climate. And our levels of CO2 are really not high relative to history. And when CO2 levels were higher in the past at various cyclical peaks, agriculture really prospered more. There was higher output. Turns out that plants and food-growing plants like CO2, and they thrive with more CO2. But anyway, we don’t have a risk. And everything needs to be understood from a perspective that God created it all, that it’s all possible. Everything that we have was created by God, and what an amazing God He is, in that He’s given us everything we need, and we should use these resources responsibly to advance His kingdom. We need energy. Only 50 years ago, most people thought we were going to run out of oil and gas in about 40, 40 years, 40, 50 years, and then the horizontal drilling through shale revolution took place and fracking technologies developed and suddenly we had our known oil reserves that we could tap exceeded every other country in the world. Everything changed in 10 years. And so it’s very humbling that we don’t have it right a lot of the time. So But I think if we always remember that it’s all God’s creation, God created it for our benefit, we then want to allow the markets to work. God created us free, and so the natural economic system is one based on freedom, and that’s called free market interaction. And free markets work – They work in how we get to the truth, the competition of ideas, leads, refines the thought further and further, and discards false ideas, and you get closer to the truth. But in the marketplace, what happens is that when different in the area of energy, if we allow different sources of energy to compete, we’re going to make choices that are based on What is most economic? What is most efficient? What’s most abundant? What’s most reliable? I mean, the problem with wind and solar is they’re not reliable. And it turns out they’re more costly, significantly more costly. And the worst – at our current state in the world, the worst part of it is that – We are dependent upon China for much of it. You know, the lithium batteries are more than 70 percent of lithium batteries come out of China. China controls over 70 percent of the lithium markets. They control even more of the cobalt, you know, cobalt mining, which is almost exclusively comes out of the Congo in Africa. and it uses slave labor, child labor, to produce it. Nobody wants to talk about the negatives of how lithium batteries are actually developed, where they come from, all the stages, to say nothing of how we dispose of these things. My guess is that energy is going to keep evolving. Oil and gas probably won’t be the be-all and end-all in 50 years. We’ll probably have new sources of energy. And now we’re turning back to nuclear power as being a viable alternative. And the entire U.S. Navy runs on nuclear power. And there hasn’t been a single accident in our fleet yet.
SPEAKER 20 :
Knock on wood.
SPEAKER 12 :
I know. But there’s risk in everything. So even if there’s an accident, you can’t just, based on one event, generalize. But there’s risk in everything. And what we always want to do is allow the markets to work because they will sort it all out. They sort it all out without anybody rationally deciding anything. The marketplace decides. It opts for what is most economic, what’s most reliable. And in the case of energy, energy on demand is imperative. And you don’t have on-demand energy with wind and solar. You depend upon the sun shining and the wind blowing. And sometimes they don’t.
SPEAKER 20 :
And sometimes they don’t.
SPEAKER 12 :
You have to have a backup. So you almost have a redundant energy system. If you’re going to rely heavily on wind and solar, you’ve got to have an underlying energy-on-demand system of either – natural gas.
SPEAKER 20 :
And these data centers, they want something reliable. And that Ivanpah solar field out in California was only 70% effective at many points in time. So that’s not going to work. So we’re going to continue the discussion with Scott Powell. and he’s a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, also the author of the book Rediscovering America, How the National Holidays Tell an Amazing Story About Who We Are. These are important discussions and we have important rights. We’re talking about our recipe of how to get back to make America free again and our Constitution and our Declaration are the way to do that. So, Scott Powell, you and I are both freedom people, and I am concerned with a few of these things in this big, beautiful bill, because I think that they are outside of where I think I want the federal government to be, concerned a bit about these data centers and our Fourth Amendment. And what would you say that we, the people, should do about this?
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, well… I mean, I think that your work and every person who cares about freedom always needs to uphold the principle of freedom and identify threats to that freedom. Because we have had – we are far less free today than we were in the 1800s and the early – 20th century, even though there were certainly things in place that were taking freedom away, we had still had sort of a residual from the founding of the country. We had embedded in the culture a real appreciation of freedom and resistance to government incursion. And we’ve sort of lost a lot of that. And I think part of it is that modern life is so you know, it just takes so much energy and two parents needing to work in order to maintain a, you know, to meet all the bills and take care of things. And there’s just not enough, you know, there’s not much time left over for political involvement, let alone staying well informed. That’s a big problem for us. And that’s why, you know, a minimalist government and a robust free market is is really the solution, because the market sorts it all out when you let it work. And it will allocate the resources appropriately without anybody actually orchestrating it. As soon as government gets involved in picking winners and losers, you end up getting distortions. And this is why I applauded Donald Trump’s taking away the EV subsidy for electric vehicles, they should compete on their own.
SPEAKER 20 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 12 :
Absolutely. I mean, it’s overdue, actually. You know, Elon Musk was given a long runway for his cars to really, you know, gain market share, and indeed they have. But, you know, it’s a dynamic world. Things will always change, and it’s really only the market mechanism matters. that can bring about the most efficient, cost-effective utilization of resources. So anytime we see incursion on our basic freedom, our rights, I think it’s important to push back and resist. You know, because, you know, you give a little bit and it’ll take more and more and more. And we’ve already lost a lot of our freedoms. And you know that in Colorado so well. You’ve seen your freedoms eroded, you know, probably more than any other state in the last 10 years.
SPEAKER 20 :
Oh, I think that’s for sure, Scott.
SPEAKER 12 :
And it’s very sad because Colorado is such a, you know, just such a great state. It used to be a place where competing ideas could coexist. Yes, you’ve got the liberal area up in – where the university is in Boulder. But in Denver, you had – and Colorado Springs, of course, the military base. It was a lovely state and a beautiful state. But politics is – Really, you know, I just hope that the freedom movement takes root, and I applaud your work, Kim. It’s so important.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, we are going to continue to focus on that. And Scott Powell, again, your book, Rediscovering America, How the National Holidays Tell an Amazing Story About Who We Are, is such an important book as well. And 250 years ago at this time, the summer of 1775, people were having to dig deep for liberty, which is the responsible exercise of freedom. I think we are in the third founding of our country at this particular point in time.
SPEAKER 12 :
I think we are, yeah. And I would remind the audience to know, where did the early militia in 1775 come from? They came from the churches in the greater Boston area. And even the pastors, they picked up arms to fight the British. The pastors as well as the parishioners were the main elements of the early militia. So I think today we should look to churches also. We need a spiritual revival in our country because, really, God’s order is all based on freedom. He created us to be free.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, and you mentioned the word about God. God is a God of order. And that’s why when we see all of this chaos and confusion that is being sowed out there, it’s the opposite of God’s will. And so we’ve got to continue to continue to be working towards. And that was what the Constitution put in place was a country that would have order and would have justice and And we’re not there right now, Scott Powell. Your final thoughts?
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, we’ve been heavily infiltrated, heavily infiltrated. And, you know, so we just have to keep chipping away. You know, the young generation, I find more optimism now than I’ve had in some years. The young generation seems to be waking up. And that’s very encouraging, very encouraging.
SPEAKER 20 :

Welcome, Kim. Thank you for having me on.
SPEAKER 20 :
And what is happening from what you can see at your vantage point?
SPEAKER 11 :
So this is normally trying to be partisan or not. This is just reprehensible behavior on several levels, including by some of our elected officials. Understand that we have U.S. Border Patrol agents are up in L.A. right now assisting ICE operations. and other federal partners in enforcing federal law. These are laws that have been ratified by Congress, signed by a president, that are duly in effect. And all of a sudden we have certain groups saying, we don’t want you to enforce certain laws that we don’t like. That’s not how the system works. If you don’t like the laws, then have Congress change them. But you don’t get to just say, I don’t like the law, therefore I’m going to tell everybody not to obey the law, and in fact we’re going to impede people who are enforcing the law. So U.S. Border Patrol, including people I know, are up there. What was problematic for me is the gaslighting that started going on. And we’ve seen this before, but it was very, very particular in this case that we were told it’s peaceful rights. I have friends that are back on the East Coast, back in New York, and others were telling me that they’re not seeing this. You know, the people standing on burning or next to burning vehicles flying proudly the flags of foreign nation states other than our own. They stopped the 101 freeway. They were throwing rocks and concrete at passing motorists. This is mayhem. This is rioting. This is not peaceful protesting. And certain groups, including some of the media, were saying, oh, it’s peaceful protests. You have Governor Newsom saying that. You have Mayor Bass saying that. Simply not true. This is unchecked violence. And, you know, President Trump rightfully said, and legally and lawfully nationalized the California National Guard, and we have people in the National Guard, and they were pleased. They wanted to help restore order, and he’s sending them into L.A. For those who say that he can’t do that, certainly he can’t. David Eisenhower, President Eisenhower did it to desegregate schools in Arkansas back in the day. So it’s perfectly legal. He just was not going to wait around. for Governor Newsom to send in the National Guard. The chief of police of LAPD quoted to NBC, we are overwhelmed. Well, when the police department is overwhelmed, you have to go to the next level. And in that case, that’s the California National Guard who are going in to help law enforcement, including federal law enforcement, restore order. But make no mistake, this is not something that should be tolerated or celebrated in this country. We are a nation state founded on law. And we write our own laws, and if we don’t like them, we can change them. But you don’t riot or assault people or law enforcement particularly because you don’t like the way the laws are being enforced or that they’re being enforced at all. That’s the bottom line, Kim, that we have the right as a nation state to pick and choose our laws and to enforce them.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, and I had Dr. Brian June depth on earlier in the show, and he said that he’s concerned that this violence is going to be exported to other cities. For example, Denver this week, your ear to the ground. Have you heard anything along that line?
SPEAKER 11 :
I think you’re going to see that in certain in certain cities. And again, I don’t like to be partisan, but I think you’re going to see mostly what they term blue cities. You already saw a little bit starting in New York City and Seattle. So I think you’re going to see these the same cities that have rioted over various reasons over the past several years are going to probably go up in flames again. LAPD was told to stand down for the first two hours. That’s disgusting. Assistance and help was requested from them, from federal law enforcement, and they were told to stand down for two hours. If we’ve learned nothing, it is that if you let a riot, not peaceful protesting, make no mistake about that, not peaceful protest, but if you let rioting break out and then do nothing to tamp it down, to stop it, very quickly it spreads. And I’m hoping that these other cities, and I know for you, Aurora and Denver are concerned. As you know, we had a family member stationed out there with Trendorago and everything else. Yes, Kim, I do think you’re going to see flare-ups at the minimum in several other cities. Again, we’ve already seen a preview of it. It was happening in New York City, happening up in Seattle. You know, it’s going on in L.A. I definitely think this coming weekend there’s going to be a call to action. I have somebody sent me a call to action out here in San Diego. It’s a group that’s forming a militia group to be anti-ice, and they’re going to train down at the park. They want you to bring umbrellas and canes to use to simulate rifles. They’re saying at this time there won’t be any rifles. They’re peaceful. But that’s scary stuff. And so the call is going out, this, you know, interwoven, loosely – They kind of go along with these Marxist ideals and others, but these groups, Antifa and others, that are going to show up. And we saw in LA there’s people with the Palestinian flag. I mean there’s people with just all kinds of flags and all kinds of groups under this kind of umbrella movement. But really what it is is anarchy and hatred and loathing for the United States and Western ideals. And, again, I just want to repeat that enforcing our nation state laws, there is nothing inherently wrong with that. There’s nothing inherently racist. There’s nothing inherently bigoted. If you look at the videos of the Border Patrol agents up there in L.A., the vast majority of them are Hispanic or have Hispanic surnames. That’s because the U.S. Border Patrol is a minority majority agency. I mean, I represented these men and women when I was a union guy. So we’ve got to stop listening to some of these elected officials. We have a congresswoman out here, Maxine Waters, who is basically daring them to shoot her. That’s just – I’ve used the term earlier, but it’s reprehensible behavior, and we should not tolerate it from our elected officials because it does fan the flames. Bass said some inflammatory stuff, and even Governor Newsom has said some very inflammatory things. I’m talking about they were going and arresting four-year-old girls and things like that. These were targeted raids for criminal aliens and also some workplace enforcement. And for the years, people left the center and said, you need to go after these workplace – hire these people. Well, now they’re doing that, and they’re not happy with that either. So realistically, there is a group of people in this country that do not want us to enforce any immigration laws. And that’s just not acceptable. No nation state can remain a nation state if it cannot control its own borders. And I use this analogy, Kim, is that your own house, you have a right to let somebody come in as a guest, which would be our visa system. But if they start acting obnoxiously or overstay their welcome, you can kick them out. You can even have them arrested for trespass. And you certainly have the right to keep people from coming in at all. I don’t know who you are. I don’t like the way you look. You’re not coming in my house. Every nation state has that right. It’s recognized around the world. So to act like we should somehow not have a border, any country that has not been able to control its borders soon after does not exist. Just ask the Roman Empire. So, yes, Kim, to circle back, I do think we’re going to see bad things coming up this week around the country.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, and this destroys people’s businesses and their livelihoods. And here in Denver, this will be interesting to watch. Denver has just put a ton of money into what used to be called the Denver Mall. And just RTD and Denver’s put a ton of money in it. It’s going to be very interesting to see if during the next week or so, if all of that money goes. is wasted because of destruction, because of this anarchy that’s occurring in L.A. at this time and could be exported to other cities. We’ve got about a minute left. Chris, thank you for late-breaking being able to be on the show, and we’re going to have you as a featured guest next week to talk more about this. What’s your final thought to leave with listeners as a retired Border Patrol agent from the San Diego sector?

Look, the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol, they’re some of the finest I’ve ever worked with in law enforcement. And I spent 36 years state, local, federal, New York and California. They want to protect the Constitution. They want to enforce the laws. They want to protect the United States and the civilians therein. And you brought up about the destruction. So a lot of these vehicles that are burning are electric vehicles. These are lithium batteries. LA Fire Department has to clear the neighborhoods because of the toxic fumes.
