SPEAKER 11 :
You know what story we didn’t cover enough yesterday? Because of all the breaking news, Trump is back from the G7 early, trying to deal with the war between Israel and Iran. I love how the legacy media calls it a conflict. No, no, no. This is a war. They are at war. I don’t know what happens next. I’m fascinated by the characterization of a giant rift in Trump world. the big, big debate supposedly raging about whether we should help Israel or stay out of it. And of course, in many ways, that’s silly because we’re already in it. We’re already assisting Israel, and our commander-in-chief is committed to defending and supporting Israel. If Iran gets the ability to get their hands on a nuclear weapon, The whole world is in trouble. The United States is in trouble. And we’ve got to accept that. But the raging emotions, people are slamming Tucker Carlson. They’re vilifying him like nobody’s business. Never seen anything like it. Ari Fleischer. who is immediately being mocked for a guy who, you know, was all on board with the weapons of mass destruction and Iraq. He just came out just going nuts against Tucker Carlson, attacking him and assailing him. Mark Levin is attacking Tucker. And I think people are looking at Those two strong personalities, Tucker and Mark, and saying, aha, look at this showdown in MAGA world. Laura Loomer is on board. She’s attacking Tucker. She’s claiming that Tucker is really a secret Trump hater. And he’s not sufficiently MAGA. And, you know, on the one hand, I tend to believe that stuff like that, let them fight it out. You know, it’s okay to have differing points of view. On the other hand, I kind of wish we were unified. I wish we weren’t battling with each other. I mean, I like both those guys a lot. I’ve been a Tucker fan for many years, and I think he reflects… the beliefs and the opinions and the views of millions and millions of Americans. And look, same could be said for how I feel about Mark Levin. But it’s gotten personal between the two of them. It’s gotten really, really ugly. And I don’t know… Now even President Trump is kind of weighing in. I think on social media, on Truth Social… President Trump referred to Tucker as kooky. And then he was asked about it yesterday as he was preparing to leave the G7 in Canada. He was asked about Tucker’s belief that we should stay out of Israel. Here’s what President Trump said.
SPEAKER 06 :
What is your response to Tucker Carlson criticizing you, saying that you’re complicit in the war?
SPEAKER 02 :
I don’t know what Tucker Carlson is saying. Let him go get a television network and say it so that people listen. Thank you.
SPEAKER 11 :
Ouch. Ouch. Because, of course, Trump is referring to Tucker being unceremoniously fired by Fox News. A decision to this day I don’t understand. One of the strangest TV personnel moves I’ve ever seen. I don’t think anybody knows to this day why they really fired the guy. Because he was at the top of his game. I’ve got broadcasting colleagues who believe it was a business decision because they couldn’t sell a lot of advertising in his show. I find that really hard to believe. It was some kind of beef with the Murdoch family. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t care. Tucker has a huge following in the digital space. Tucker is very popular. He’s got his own company. And as I understand it, he and his business partner recently bought out all the other investors. So, you know, I think Tucker’s doing just fine. So, but here’s the thing that we didn’t cover yesterday that I want to just, it’s worth a reminder. Ten years ago this week, Donald Trump came down the golden escalator. Ten years ago this week, this man announced he was running for president of the United States. And I’ve got a clip of the Jon Stewart’s and the Rachel Maddow’s of the world who are just scoffing at it. Remember Ann Coulter on Bill Maher saying he’s going to be the nominee? And they just laughed at her and they mocked her. They ridiculed her. They made fun of anybody who thought he was the real deal. Well, he was the real deal, all right. And for a decade now… We have seen the political landscape, the cultural landscape, we’ve seen it all upended. It’s been completely upended by this man. He’s changed everything. And it’s a big deal. It’s a really big deal. Think about what we’ve experienced together as a nation for the last decade with the presence of Donald J. Trump on the national stage. Are we better for it? Are we worse off? I can tell you as a talk show host, it’s been the most exciting run of my career. And I go back a long way. My first talk show was in 1978. So I’ve been around the block a few times. Never seen anything like this. I’ve never seen anything that comes close to this. And sometimes, as is the case with life in general, we just take stuff for granted. We kind of forget how good we’ve got it. And how good is it? Look, we’ve got challenges. We’ve got huge challenges in front of us. Harvard Harris poll just came out asking Americans about the condition of today’s economy. For the first time in four years, a majority of Americans believe that our economy today is strong.
SPEAKER 1 :
52%.
SPEAKER 11 :
52% of Americans believe that today’s economy is strong. So can we just take a couple of minutes before we get into Iran and Israel and before we get into the updates from Minnesota? I predict that story is going to fade from view soon. real quickly. And I’ll tell you why a little bit later. But can we open up the phone lines as we kick off a Tuesday here in the Relief Factor studios? Can we talk about the last decade, how you view the last 10 years of American life, how you believe that Trump has impacted this country over the last decade. Give me your overall sort of summary of the last 10 years with Donald Trump. 10 years ago this week, he came down that escalator and said, I’m running for president. They laughed, they mocked, they went at him in a big way, and he’s still standing, and he’s the guy in the Oval Office. I want to see, I want to get your perspective Conclusion of the last decade with Donald Trump. 800-655-MIKE. 15 past the hour. I want to put your voice front and center here on the Mike Gallagher Show. 800-655-MIKE. 800-655-6453. Call or text, but get here because I want to see what you think about the last decade. SPEAKER 11 :
New Jersey texter not too happy with the last 10 years as he checked out a live look of Houston, Texas for Salem News Channel viewers. And, of course, always thrilled to join you on AM 1070, The Answer in Houston. Jersey writes, in the last 10 years, Trump went from not being bought and paid for against starting wars. Now… The Jewish lobby has bought our national policy, and he started a war in Iran. Trump started the war in Iran. How interesting that anybody could come to that ridiculous conclusion. California’s happy, though. For the last 10 years, we’ve experienced a renewed love for America and God. We absolutely have seen a surge, I believe, of patriotism, of respect for For military? For police? I mean, look, I don’t know that it gets much better in terms of presidential leadership, at least in my lifetime. Obviously, plenty of people can disagree. A lot of people did the day after he came down the escalator 10 years ago. I thought you’d get a kick out of this little clip. A little montage of people who were mocking and laughing and taunting the idea of Trump actually running for president of the United States. This is what the legacy media, cable news, TV hosts sounded like. And keep me up, Eric, so I can… narrate who it is so people know exactly which personalities were so dreadfully wrong about what was going to be the subsequent 10 years, the following 10 years after Trump came down the escalator. This was 10 years ago today, the day after he announced. Jon Stewart.
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m just really happy right now. A billionaire vanity candidate. Taking the escalator to the White House.
SPEAKER 13 :
Hey, only losers walk. Unconventional? John Heilman. Yeah, but will it get him anywhere close to becoming the nominee or the president of the United States? I think not.
SPEAKER 08 :
Can we stipulate for the purposes of this conversation that Donald Trump will never be president of the United States?
SPEAKER 07 :
How do you even have a straight face right now? There are no words to describe what just happened.
SPEAKER 06 :
Ed Randell, do you have any doubt that this is anything more than a carnival show?
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s like I can’t tell if this is politics or if this is just PR from a celebrity.
SPEAKER 11 :
A billionaire vanity candidate crowed Jon Stewart. Well, he’s not laughing now. Not laughing now. Another California texter. Mike, are you kidding me? Everything is so much better under President Trump. Biggest problem I see is we don’t hear about all the great things he’s doing. Well, and that’s true. Look at this Harris-Harvard poll that just came out. Americans asked to describe today’s economy, the condition of the economy. Is the economy strong? 52% said yes. Fifty two percent. How would you summarize the last decade with Donald Trump front and center, even when he wasn’t in the White House for those four disastrous Joe Biden years? Lee’s in Jacksonville, Florida. Hi, Lee. Welcome back.
SPEAKER 04 :
Hi, Mike. My wife and I are so looking forward to meeting you and Larry and the whole gang on the Patriots Alaska cruise in August. We just can’t stand it. Nice.
SPEAKER 11 :
Oh, have you ever been to Alaska before?
SPEAKER 04 :
No, no. First time.
SPEAKER 11 :
You guys are going to have the time of your life. I was just talking to one of my sons about it last night. This will be a vacation. What’s your wife’s name? Susie. Susie. You and Susie are going to have the time of your life. So I’m glad you signed up. I’m sorry it sold out as quickly as it did. I was hoping to have another two more weeks or so of promotion. But, look, you’re going to be with hundreds of like-minded patriots and, you know, Larry and Joe Piscopo. And we’re going to have a great time, Lee.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. Mike, I am a rock-ribbed conservative Republican all of my adult life. My first vote was for Ronald Reagan in 1980. I was so disappointed. when Trump beat out Ted Cruz for the 2016 Republican nomination. Now, of course, I voted for him. No way we could have Hillary as president. And the man has completely turned me around. I am such a huge fan of Donald Trump now and so grateful for his presidency. I mean, he’s a man who governed with conservative principles and kept his promises. And it’s just amazing the turnaround just in hopefulness. He’s given just the run-of-the-mill, average, patriotic American citizen like me. It’s amazing.
SPEAKER 11 :
It’s wild to me to meet so many people who were Ted Cruz supporters big time. And disappointed that Ted didn’t become the nominee and now have become just all in for Donald J. Trump. There are so many people, Lee, that say that. And it speaks a lot to his ability to persuade people to the way he does things. I can’t wait to see you in Alaska, you and Susie. See you there. We’ll be setting sail, I think it’s August the 16th. through the 23rd or so. Maybe we’ll check in from the cruise ship a little bit as Joey and company will hold down the fort. You know, this was interesting that Lee brought up Ted Cruz. I had a conversation with Mark Davis. one of the legendary Texas talk show hosts, about Ted Cruz and Ron DeSantis. And I want to ask you about this real quick while it’s on my mind. Because in many ways, I think Ted Cruz shares a factor with Ron DeSantis that prevented both of them from becoming the Republican nominee for president. I want to see what you think of that coming up. Portions of our show brought to you by MyPillow and Big Deal. Two sales in one. First, they’re having a closeout sale on the percale bedsheets. SPEAKER 11 :
Boy, we’ve got a real mess on our hands in the Middle East. Netanyahu has said that Israel will not rule out killing the Ayatollah Khomeini. The fighting is escalating. The tensions are boiling over. President Trump appears not to be in much of a mood to negotiate. Katie Pavlich over at Town Hall writes that as the Iranian nuclear program continues to get pounded by Israeli airstrikes, President Trump, of course, departed early from the G7 summit in Canada to get back to the White House. Incidentally, did you see the way the jackals and the hyenas and the leftist media reacted to Trump leaving the G7 early? They acted like it was the biggest… egregious, most horrific mistake any president has ever made. Who cares about Trump leaving Canada and the G7 early? Seriously. The Middle East is on fire. And this is a war with American implications. So the guy… goes to the G7, goes to some of the meetings, has dinner, gets on Air Force One and comes home, and they ripped him a new one for that. Oh, it’s tacky and terrible and what an embarrassment. They are just rooting for this country to fail. It’s just disgusting. They are so gross. They’re just vile. Anyway, aboard Air Force One, The president told reporters he isn’t in the mood to negotiate and that the Situation Room is a better place to conduct serious business than over the phone. When he was asked what he’s looking for, he said an end, a real end, not a ceasefire, a real end. Now, look, he’s got a lot on his plate. We’ve got a lot of people in our world, in MAGA world, in Trump world, who are very squeamish about our involvement in this war. I mean, there’s a lot of people who I think are taking their cue saying, from a guy that millions of us like and admire, Tucker Carlson. Tucker Carlson is definitely an America firster. And two people I like a lot, Steve Bannon in the war room and Tucker Carlson, sat down to talk about America’s involvement or lack thereof in this brutal war between America Israel and Iran. Now, what’s fascinating is there’s a Democrat effort to block American military force against Iran. So in a way, the Tucker Carlsons of the world are siding with prominent Democrats who don’t want our military involvement against Iran. It’s a complicated issue. But watching people unload on Tucker… I mean, Mark Levin and Ari Fleischer and others, first of all, I hate it because I really respect and admire and like Mark Levin. It feels like it’s gotten personal between Tucker and Mark. And let me share with you what Tucker’s belief is. You know, I borrowed a page from Tucker in talking about Russia and Ukraine. And Tucker has asked for years a pretty simple question. Do we want to go to war with Russia or not? You want to go to war with Russia? You want our boys to go fight Russia because we’re siding with Vladimir Zelensky and Ukraine? And it sounds like Tucker has the same sort of default position about Israel and Iran. Here he was, courtesy of the war room with Steve Bannon yesterday.
SPEAKER 15 :
I actually really love Trump. I think he’s a deeply humane, kind person. And I am saying this because I’m really afraid that my country is going to be further weakened by this. I think we’re going to see the end of American empire, obviously. Other nations would like to see that. And this is a perfect way to scuttle the USS America on the shoals of Iran. But it’s also going to end, I believe, Trump’s presidency and effectively end it. And And so that’s why I’m saying this. What do you mean by that? That’s coming from you. Look, I knew Bush. I knew George W. Bush. We had family connections to Bush. I knew Bush. Personally, I still see Bush sometimes. And, you know, of course, he hates me. And he does because I criticized him on Iraq. And that war is the sum total from historical perspective of his administration. But I knew him. And he had all kinds of plans for the things that he wanted to do. Domestically. domestically to improve the country and you may agree or disagree but like in his mind he wasn’t just about the invasion of Iraq in March of 2000 he was going to redo social security he was going to take care of the entitlements issue and he really thought it was going to work and you could laugh at that or whatever but the point is the second you get enmeshed in a real war not a fake let’s go bomb the villagers and declare success we don’t even have a good track record like why are the Houthis still there I mean, there’s a whole other question, which is how prepared is the U.S. military for a real conflict? And the answer is totally unprepared. Scary unprepared. I don’t think people understand that. But anyway, the only reason I’m saying any of this is because I really, really care.
SPEAKER 11 :
Now, look, I don’t think anything we just heard from Tucker Carlson is worthy of the kind of vicious personal attacks that people are mounting against him right now. In fact, I think he speaks to millions of people. I believe a whole bunch of people think Tucker Carlson makes a lot of sense. And I say this as a staunch ally of Israel. I want Israel to survive. I am absolutely terrified at the prospect of Iran getting their hands on a nuke. They will wipe Israel off the map. When somebody tells you what they’re going to do, believe them. And that’s what Iran wants to do. And they are trying to proceed with nuclear capabilities. And if they get a nuclear weapon… Goodbye, Israel. Goodbye, Holy Land. Gone. I think Netanyahu said, I understand America first. I don’t understand America dead because that’s the other part of this. Do you think Iran wants to stop at Israel? They hate us. They hate America. They certainly hate Donald Trump. They tried to kill him apparently twice. And we do stand with Israel. I stand with Israel. Heck, I was all set. I was going to go in October. That trip now, of course, is up in the air. But I just leave you with a message from Mike Huckabee, the Israeli ambassador now, to Donald Trump. And then I’m going to turn it over to you because this is hard. This is tough. Is there a split in MAGA world? Are we divided the way the legacy media wants us to be? Do you believe that we’re sort of at each other’s throats? Look, Mark Levin and Tucker Carlson are. Holy cow. Ari Fleischer, my gosh. They just tried to butcher Tucker for what you just heard. And I’m sorry, a whole lot of people would listen to Tucker Carlson and say it sounds pretty reasonable to me. So I want to see what you make of all this, and I want to read Mike Huckabee’s message to Donald Trump that he posted on social media. He wrote, Mr. President, God spared you in Butler, Pennsylvania, to be the most consequential president in a century, maybe ever. The decisions on your shoulders I would not want to be made by anyone else. You have many voices speaking to you, sir, but there is only one voice that matters, his voice. I am your appointed servant in this land. and I’m available for you. But I do not try to get in your presence often because I trust your instincts. No president in my lifetime has been in a position like yours, not since Truman in 1945. I don’t reach out to persuade you, only to encourage you. I believe you will hear from heaven, and that voice is far more important than mine or anyone else’s. You sent me to Israel to be your eyes, ears, and voice, and to make sure our flag flies above our embassy. My job is to be the last one to leave. I will not abandon this post. Our flag will not come down. You did not seek this moment. This moment sought you. It is my honor to serve you. Signed, Mike Huckabee. Wow. Give me your take on all of this. Let’s go to the smartest people in the world. You, 800-655-MIKE. Call or text. But tell me what you think the next steps should be. Do we go to war with Iran? Is that the right question? Am I framing it correctly? Let’s see what you think. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. I want to put your voice front and center here on the Mike Gallagher Show.

SPEAKER 11 :
Live look at South Beach in Miami, Florida, where I kind of like to be sitting right now. If you’re watching on Salem News Channel, you’re seeing a beach view of Miami, Florida. I do. I’m tired. I know I’ll be accused of whining, but man, I’m just beat. There’s so much. I saw an article today at Axios about how today’s workday never ends. There’s a report out from Microsoft calling it the infinite workday. It begins before many knowledge workers get out of bed, ends late in the evening, stretches into the weekend. Knowledge workers, as they call, I guess, us, I don’t know, we’re probably all in that category. If you’re plugged into this show, you’re probably a knowledge worker. We’re interrupted by a ping from an app every 1.75 minutes of the day. 275 times a day during the official eight-hour workday. And as workers are more distributed around the country and the world, thanks to remote work, people working from home, one in five meetings now happen outside regular work hours, whatever those may be. Meetings after 8 p.m. are up 16% from last year. Average employee now sends or receives 50-plus messages a day outside of core business hours. Isn’t that crazy? A broad base of workers are up at 6 a.m. working. Man, I can relate. I really can. I’m getting ready for a vacation over the 4th of July. I’m going to go to Vegas. I miss Vegas. I’m the stupidest Las Vegas fan, a guy that doesn’t really gamble. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. Hardly ever swear. But I like the hotels there. I like the meals. I like the entertainment. Might check out Barry Mantle. That sphere. I saw an ad for the sphere today. They’re playing like a re-digitized version of The Wizard of Oz in that giant sphere. That sounds pretty cool. I don’t think I’ve seen The Wizard of Oz since I was a kid. But it’s true. And, you know, even when you get away, you can’t get away. When you take a break, you can’t take a break. I mean, at least in my occupation. Because if you miss anything, you’re out to lunch. But then again, if I didn’t have this to do, I would miss out on the joy of looking up at the big board in my studio and seeing that you’re sending 1,012 children to a prison fellowship summer camp called the Angel Tree Camps. I just want to again say thank you to everybody who made this campaign an enormous success. There’s no audience like this one. There’s just nobody like you. Over 1,000 kids. You understand at 200… to sponsor a child, you contributed well over $200,000 in the month that we had our prison fellowship campaign. It’s astounding. It’s astounding. So thank you. Thank you for doing God’s work. These are, of course, the sons and daughters of American prisoners. These kids are going to get sent to a Christ-centered camp. They’re going to get to be kids for a week, and they’re going to get to learn about God’s love and grace and mercy. And they couldn’t have done it without you. 1,012 kids. The goal was 455 kids. That would have been enormous. You made it magnificent. So thank you. Thank you. If you want to go to MikeOnline.com, we’re keeping the banner up for a few more days. If you want to pop in a little bit more to bless a child with a summer camp for a week, thanks to Angel Tree. MikeOnline.com, MikeOnline.com. I am. I never want to ever get too forgetful of how much I appreciate you. I mean, it’s everything. It just seems like everything, the companies you support, the businesses you support, just means so much. All right, Terry’s on Long Island. Let’s go back to the calls. Nine minutes before the hour here on this Tuesday episode. Hey, Terry, how are you?
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m good. I would compare us helping take out that nuclear facility to taking out Soleimani. It could be a one-off. It’s good for America, and it doesn’t have to get us involved in a long, drawn-out war. It’s a one-time thing, but it would benefit our country as well as Israel.
SPEAKER 11 :
I just tend to agree with you entirely. I think you’re right. I don’t want to say it’s a one-off, but it is one act that makes a lot of sense, it seems to me. Thank you, sir. Ken’s in Phoenix. Hey, Ken, welcome. How are you?
SPEAKER 09 :
Hello, Mike. Doing well. Good. The only reason I believe Trump would be considering any military action in Iran is because of the facility in Florida, the fuel enrichment facility. Right. Because the GBU-57 is the only bunker buster capable of getting close to that depth. I think they’re at like 300 feet and that’ll go 200 feet. But the B-2 bomber is the only plane capable of carrying that.
SPEAKER 11 :
Can I ask you something? You obviously seem knowledgeable about this. And I admit I don’t have a lot of knowledge about military arsenal and weaponry and what that looks like. I’ve always been under the impression that Israel has got such a state-of-the-art, cutting-edge military. military technology. I mean, you think about the Iron Dome, for example. We don’t have an Iron Dome here, and they have a pretty remarkable way to deflect missiles and projectiles being sent into Israel. Doesn’t it seem a little odd that they don’t have the military capability of taking out this nuclear facility?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, well, they definitely don’t possess a bomber fleet. Like I said, the B-2 is the only plane that can carry that.
SPEAKER 11 :
Got it, got it, got it. Hey, I appreciate your knowledge, Ken, and your calling the show. Appreciate it. Six and a half before the hour. One open line, 800-655-MIKE. It’s tough. It’s tough. This is a difficult issue. A lot of smart people. And look, a lot of smart people can disagree. It’s all right. I say this all the time. I know it sounds kind of trite and cliched and maybe a little stupid. Trust Trump. Trust the guy. I believe that Newt Gingrich is right. This man is probably going to go down. as one of the all-time most consequential presidents in our history. Did you see the Harris-Harvard poll came out about how Americans are feeling about the economy? All the screeching and the caterwauling about the tariffs? For the first time in four years, according to the Harvard-Harris poll, 52%, a majority of Americans, say that the economy is strong. Trust the guy. You know? You don’t even have to like him to trust him. Although I kind of have to admit I don’t know why he wouldn’t like him. Because, you know, that story about, wasn’t that remarkable when Newt shared the story of Speaker Johnson and President Trump praying in private for an hour after President Trump learned about the second assassination attempt on his life? That’s powerful stuff. It’s powerful, powerful stuff. equally powerful in terms of your finances and your future, your financial future, is Dean Owen. M. Dean Owen, CPA, has been ranked among the nation’s top CPAs and financial planners in the country. And look, I like having the best. My CPA can be your CPA as well. Dean is available to you because he and his team specialize in helping families and businesses all around America reduce their tax burden and build financial and tax plans aligned with your goals and values. Just 10 years ago today, we have gone through a decade of Trumpism that has completely reshaped politics, the culture. You cannot understate this. And I don’t like to spike the football or anything. But there’s a little clip I want to share with you. This was 10 years ago today, okay? The day after Trump came down the golden escalator, the day after, this is what all the familiar faces we know on TV sounded like. Hit it.
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m just really happy right now. Millionaire vanity candidate.
SPEAKER 13 :
taking the escalator to the white house hey only losers walk unconventional will people who love him love it yeah but will it get him anywhere close to becoming the nominee or the president united states i think not can we stipulate for the purposes of this conversation that donald trump will never be president of the united like article
SPEAKER 07 :
There you go. Rachel, wow.
SPEAKER 11 :
I mean, it was one after another. Do you think they look back at that and say, oh, boy, did we get it wrong? And they got it wrong.
SPEAKER 14 :
Nick’s minus might kill the police. They’ve got to have second finger in. Thank you. It’s not like that’s the first or the last time that people said something in the Trump era, including myself. folks on our side who have said some things about the Trump era and then been completely and totally wrong, had to completely and totally reconfigure. Although I’ll tell you, not to join you and break an arm, pat ourselves on the back, is there anything I haven’t. You haven’t. We signed. I was a Cruz guy. I was a Ted Cruz guy in 2016 until Ted Cruz wasn’t in the race anymore. And all the while in supporting Ted Cruz, it came it was winnowing down to Cruz and Trump, Cruz and Trump, Cruz and Trump. So I was talking about how great Ted Cruz was, which I will always do. But as people were bagging on Trump, bagging on Trump, attacking Trump, I was spending more time defending Trump against bullies. bizarre baseless attacks from both sides than I was talking about how awesome Ted Cruz was. So when Trump beat Cruz in Indiana in May of 2016, the time I spent immediately morphing over to the Trump train was about a millisecond where I’ve reigned every day since. And I haven’t had any weird curveballs. I haven’t had any huge lessons I’ve had to learn because I’ve been slow to grasp what was going on. Have you?
SPEAKER 11 :
I was thinking about the comparison between, in a way, on the presidential stage of Ted Cruz and Ron DeSantis. Both of them enormously effective. Both of them incredibly skilled. Ron DeSantis, arguably the greatest governor in America. And I think Ted Cruz, one of the greatest and most effective senators in America. They both lack… a factor and it’s hard to figure out what that it’s it’s a likability factor mark there’s something about both of these guys I think thin-skinned is probably unfair but like it or not that’s a bit of the perception and that’s what happened to DeSantis and I think that’s what happened to Ted Cruz there’s something you talk to people like who work with him and they claim like very unfairly, I might add, but they claim this is not a guy, warm, fuzzy guy that you want to cozy up to and have a beer with. Same with Ron DeSantis. They’re very, I don’t know what the word is, officious. There’s a warmth factor that they lack that a guy like Trump possesses. And somebody else will come along probably one day and have that same warmth factor. But let’s face it, in 2025 America and beyond, You’ve got to have that. You’ve got to have that celebrity if it was. Maybe that’s the word. There’s a celebrity factor to Trump.
SPEAKER 14 :
A couple of things. I’m 90, 80, maybe 87 percent agree with you. And I know that this is meaningless because nobody spends life in person with everybody. Cruz in person is unbelievably likable, unbelievably funny, and unbelievably natural. And I think a lot of his reputational problems have been from the left that doesn’t like him and conservatives, insufficient conservatives, who are intimidated by him. I don’t know DeSantis personally. I haven’t spent time around him personally. You’ve got a couple of examples. But I’ve got to tell you, so has Ted Cruz.
SPEAKER 11 :
They’re both a little prickly. And I know that from, that’s a nice way to put it. And again, I say this as a fan of both of them. But they are. Prickly is the word. They get irritable. They get rubbed the wrong way pretty easily. And that’s just part of their personality. And I think that translates to the American people. I think people kind of see it or sense it. And they just say, nah, we want the showman. We want the celebrity who’s got all the policy boxes checked. But also has that kind of personality. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
Meanwhile… Who has that? Oh, we ain’t done yet. So who has that moving forward? Does Vance have it?
SPEAKER 11 :
To some extent. I think he does. I don’t think he’s got that prickly factor. I think Don Jr. has it. I think Don’s got a great personality. And he’s got the old man’s charisma.
SPEAKER 14 :
You know what that is? And I don’t even know if it’s about… cultural fame because in democrat circles it makes you think about the whole stephen a smith thing which may not be as ridiculous as we think but i think it’s kind of an unflappability there’s something about trump that almost no politician ever has he just doesn’t care he just doesn’t care he’s impossible to rattle he is impossible to inflame he’s impossible to trigger and i don’t know how many human beings even have that anyway didn’t mean to buy well go ahead did she
SPEAKER 11 :
oh was and it’s really oh and it’s and it’s really moving the needle what did they i’m really curious i’m not trying to be a smart aleck what did that accomplish what what trump isn’t going anywhere and he’s not running for anything how does he think about change in any election does does does no kings mean that the midterms will be hugely great for democrats I don’t think so. I don’t see that at all. I don’t even see it connected. What we need to look at is the old proof in the pudding. Yesterday, Harvard-Harris came out with a poll, and this is not a right-wing poll. What percentage of Americans believe our U.S. economy is strong today? 52%. First time in four years, a majority of Americans believe the U.S. economy is strong. Trump, it’s working. That’s right. No, it’s working. And again, for the first time in four years, 52% of Americans, and that’s according to the Harvard-Harris poll. So, and again, you know, I love good old Jessica Tarloff over on The Five. She loves to pull numbers out of her ear, but she won’t be quoting that poll.
