This episode also spotlights Dan Bongino’s mysterious social media messages that have left listeners speculating. Continuing on, Mike tackles the pressing issue of immigration enforcement and the complications faced by law enforcement in progressive cities. The show concludes with a critical look at the Obama Presidential Library controversy, reflecting on how public opinions shape the political landscape. This engaging episode is packed with insights and bold commentary that promise to provoke thought and discussion.
SPEAKER 15 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday, August 1st, 2025. This week, the left laughs at death while lashing out over a TV commercial. Plus, Dan Bongino issues a cryptic promise and Chris Matthews comes out about President Trump. We begin in New York City where a horrific crime occurred and the left cheered. of the current mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, who told reporters yesterday how this guy with mental illness evidently obtained the weapon that he used to kill four people on Park Avenue.
SPEAKER 13 :
We have discovered through our investigation, as this continues to unravel, that the weapon that was used, part of the weapons was purchased by an associate of the perpetrator. And he also purchased the firearm that was found in the car by using a carry permit, that he received in Nevada. We’re still looking into other aspects. Two teams of detectives are going to Las Vegas. One will be conducting a search warrant of his home. The other is going to do further investigation into the firearms.
SPEAKER 15 :
Now, common sense people know that if somebody wants to get their hands on a gun, they’re going to get their hands on a gun. Common sense people know that the Jessica Tarloffs and the Chuck Schumers of the world use these horrific crimes as an excuse to reignite their ridiculous cries for gun control. These are not serious people. And I think they should be ignored. The people who shouldn’t be ignored on the left are people who celebrate death and murder and violence. We saw it with Luigi Mangione. Also in Midtown Manhattan, not too many blocks from where this crime occurred. I want to give you an example of people on the left on TikTok saying, Because one of the executives was a woman, a beloved executive of Blackstone. Blackstone, of course, a big, and there were in the left’s minds, a capitalist boogeyman. Okay? Big capitalist company. And I want to give you a little, and I’m sorry to play this for you, but to me, we should pay attention. to leftists who celebrate evil this way. We’ve got a lot of celebration of evil going on in this country. And I’ll be darned if I’m going to avoid it. I’m not going to ignore it. Here’s a little sampling of people on the left after the killings of these four people in Midtown Manhattan.
SPEAKER 12 :
They’re the reason why there’s a housing crisis. So, hey, you know what? Let’s get more against those Blackstone people. Let’s take them out.
SPEAKER 02 :
If you’re having a bad day, I just wanted to hop on to let you know that the CEO of Blackstone, a private equity real estate firm, was one of the victims in the recent shooting.
SPEAKER 14 :
It’s about damn time. Meany, meany, we’re the Gini. It’s a girl with a glass of wine. And I’m not saying she deserved it, but I’m saying God’s timing is always right. Blackstone CEO down.
SPEAKER 15 :
There’s a girl dancing.
SPEAKER 17 :
Nothing beats a jet to holiday. And right now you can save 50 pounds.
SPEAKER 11 :
Let’s go. It’s CEO season again. Let’s hope it lasts till December like it did last year.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, my God. Another CEO is shot. Another one. We got another one. Is it Christmas?
SPEAKER 15 :
We got another one. Is it Christmas? Got another CEO. The libs of TikTok posted on social media, the left is an evil, violent death cult. Can you argue with that? Leftists seem to be doing what they do best. Laugh. celebrate and call for more death, more murder, more violence. How many Democrats are going to call out all these leftists celebrating the death of this young woman, this Blackstone executive? A brawl broke out at the Cincinnati Jazz Festival over the weekend. A hundred people watched a mob beat a man and a woman. Only one person called 911. Cincinnati, of course, is where this incident occurred last week, the Cincinnati Jazz Festival. There was some kind of an altercation. Allegedly, this white guy got into it with a black guy, and then a mob of people beat these white folks, including knocking this woman out. I mean, just cold. It was shocking. Lucky she didn’t get killed. She’s recovering. There have been arrests made. One of the people arrested was released on $400 bond. That’s it. $400. So what does the Cincinnati police chief have to say about all this? What does she have to say about that kind of horrific violence? What does she have to say about the lack of police presence at the Cincinnati Jazz Festival? Did she address any of that? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. She’s mad at people on social media.
SPEAKER 03 :
Social media and journalism. and the role it plays in this incident. And yes, guys, that’s you. That is you. Social media, the post that we’ve seen, does not depict the entire incident. That is one version of what occurred. At times, social media and mainstream media and their commentaries are a misrepresentation of the circumstances surrounding any given event. What that does, that causes us some difficulties in thoroughly investigating the activity and enforcing the law. Because what happens, that social media post and your coverage of it distorts the content of what actually happened. And it makes our job more difficult.
SPEAKER 15 :
Now, I’m going to say without hesitation, that’s one of the stupidest things I have ever heard from a law enforcement official in my life. Social media played a part in the incident? No. People with cameras happened to be present. when the incident occurred. And people posted the incident on social media. You want to really get mad? And I’ve read about this police chief. Oh yeah, she’s all, she’s woke. She’s a woke, white, female chief. All about DEI and all about equality and equity and all the diversity, right? Let me read to you the story about According to news reports, two people who brutally attacked the man and the woman in Cincinnati have been released on a $400 bond. One of the persons who attacked people in Cincinnati was out on bail from another felony crime at the time of the attack. One of these people that got released on bail was indicted on July 10th for receiving stolen property, weapons under disability, improper transportation of a firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. The judge set his bond at $4,000. Only 10% required $400 to post, allowing his release prior to the attack. And the same type of bond was issued on his most recent arrest. So this, if this is true, this violent would-be felon keeps getting released on a $400 bond. And the cop, the chief cop, the chief law enforcement official there, social media is to blame. Yeah. Look, social media is to thank because we wouldn’t even know about this disgraceful story if it wasn’t for social media. The American Eagle fashion brand found itself at the center of a controversy this week. The controversy? They released an ad campaign for blue jeans. Critics say the campaign’s theme is fascist as opposed to, well, you know, beautiful people selling jeans. I admit I don’t know Sidney Sweeney. She’s an actress of some renown. She’s a beautiful young woman. Beautiful woman. I’m old enough to remember when beautiful people were models. I guess that’s a bad thing now? That’s Nazism, apparently. Now, evidently, if you’re beautiful and white, you can’t be in a jeans commercial. I have absolutely no idea… what the controversy is. I asked Mark Davis this morning in Dallas, and Mark said, well, it’s because she’s white and she’s not obese. I said, Mark, there’s no way there’s controversy because she’s white and not obese. What are you talking about? He says, that’s what it is. They’re calling it Nazi propaganda. What’s Nazi propaganda? Well, she’s white and she’s got blue eyes. What does that mean? I mean, and the reaction is real. You know, you’ve probably heard it by now. Here’s the ad itself. I have absolutely… I mean, let me… Admittedly, I’ve been traveling. I’m a little bleary-eyed. A lot of work this week. We had a magnificent visit to Relief Factor on Monday. We were in their beautiful studios, and I was learning about the longevity medical clinics that you’re going to be hearing about those. So many exciting things at Relief Factor, and there are… An actual blessing in my life. So it was wonderful to be able to spend some time in Seattle. They are in Kirkland there, right outside Seattle. So I’m seeing and hearing this spot with you maybe for the first time. Here is now the commercial that has the left up in arms.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m not here to tell you to buy American Eagle jeans. And I definitely won’t say that they’re the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever worn. Or that they make your butt look amazing. Why would I need to do that? But if you said that you want to buy the jeans, I’m not going to stop you. But just so we’re clear, this is not me telling you to buy American Eagle jeans.
SPEAKER 04 :
You see what I did there, right?
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay. Got images of the Third Reich? Do you see Adolf Hitler in your mind? But here’s some of the reaction. Let me start with a Pilates teacher. Nothing screams white privilege more than a white liberal Pilates instructor, but this Pilates instructor knows exactly what she would do if anybody involved in the American Eagle ad featuring Sidney Sweeney ever showed up to her class.
SPEAKER 16 :
If anyone from American Eagle who was involved in the creation of Sidney Sweeney’s most recent advertisement booked into my Pilates class, I would give them the hardest exercise class that I was capable of doing on the lightest possible spring load with zero breath cues. And I would make it the toughest exercise class that they’d ever experienced in their lives.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, that’ll show them. That’ll take care of that. So the anger is real. It’s not just her. I mean, it’s apparently all over social media. Here’s a TikToker.
SPEAKER 01 :
Should we be surprised that a company whose name is literally American Eagle is making fascist propaganda like this? Probably not, but it’s still really shocking. Like, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, white woman is talking about her good genes. Like, that is Nazi propaganda.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, all right, good genes, J-E-A-N-S. But she also might have good genes because she’s a gorgeous woman. And how many times have you heard someone say, you’ve got good genes? I was hanging out with Dr. Mixon Monday of Relief Factor. He’s 78 years old. You’d guess him, I’m not kidding you, you would guess that he’s 57. He’s got good genes. Now, if I said that to him, would somebody be offended and say I just expressed Nazi propaganda? The world is going nuts. These people on the left are kooks and screwballs and nuts. Many people who support Trump now started out as skeptics. Among them, our new radio colleague, Scott Jennings. But like so many others, Scott came around. And I had my decision to stop getting distracted by the gossip and the hysteria of Epstein. That decision to move past that was reinforced by ABC World News Tonight last night. I swear to you, they did about a 10-minute story on Epstein. They haven’t spent that much time… on a government policy or a Trump agenda item in the history of ABC. But the whole thing was all Epstein and Trump saying Mar-a-Lago and the spa workers. It was like you thought they uncovered Watergate 2.0 on ABC World News Tonight last night. Go back and look at it. It was unbelievable. They went on and on. They just droned on and on about Epstein. You know why? Ah, they got him now. The walls are closing in. This is the thing that’s going to do it. Yeah, right. Well, thankfully, you know better. Thankfully, you know that while the mainstream media is hyperventilating over Epstein, there’s a little small, little insignificant things happening like, oh, I don’t know, the GDP soaring past experts’ expectations, the economy working, tariffs working, nothing but good, a lot of good news. The border is secure. We’re respecting law and order again. And the difference between our side and theirs is that we don’t hate the country. Scott Jennings was on a podcast this week, the PBD podcast. I don’t think he’s with the guy that does it. Isn’t that Patrick David, right? He wasn’t there, but I guess maybe it’s somebody who co-hosts or guest hosts for him. But Scott made an appearance yesterday and said something that was so profound that that I had to share this with you. And, of course, we’re thrilled to welcome CNN’s own Scott Jennings as one of our newest network team members. Scott heard on many of the same stations we’re heard on around the country. He’s doing a tremendous job. Listen to what Scott said about Democrats and their true feelings about America.
SPEAKER 09 :
His opposition, the reflexive nature of his opposition to hate and try to delegitimize him on everything he does, I think is terrible for America. I mean, they’re rooting. I mean, you wear that pin. They’re rooting against America on the tariffs all April. They were hoping it would fail. Imagine that.
SPEAKER 02 :
They’re hoping it would fail on Iran when we when we when we bombed the missile sites.
SPEAKER 09 :
What’s the first thing that happened? We got to impeach him. Oh, he didn’t do that much damage. The immediate delegitimization of this guy. Every time he does something, they root for America’s failure. So does he does he everything he does? Do I know no politician? I’m 100 percent all the time. But I’ll tell you this, I like it that he roots for America. And I hate it that they root against America just because he did it. And I think that’s why a lot of people are fine with it.
SPEAKER 15 :

SPEAKER 15 :
Promo code MikeG. This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino posted a cryptic message on social media over the weekend that left many of us scratching our heads. This one is a cliffhanger for sure. Something rattled Dan Bongino. On Saturday, he said he has seen things in his capacity as deputy director of the FBI that have shaken him to the very core. Here was an MSNBC senior reporter. I know we don’t like playing a lot of clips from that place. Gives me a little bit of heartburn. As they say in New York, it gives you agita. This will give me a little agita, but I’m going to play it anyway. This is senior reporter Brandi Zadrozny reacting to Dan Bongino’s cryptic social media post.
SPEAKER 07 :
But he seems to be, I will say, given the reporting and also his own sort of public commentary, he does seem to be very rattled in his role. Like, he’s gone from being this guy at a podcast, Mike, who was very confident in the stuff he was spreading and engaging in on that platform, to getting into this role where he was supposed to help dismantle the deep state, to now he seems a little… genuinely rattled, I guess, and concerned about whatever he’s experiencing in his role. What do you think is going on there?
SPEAKER 06 :
He once called me the dumbest woman in news, so I want to be really clear about my bias here. Listen, podcasting for the MAGA base is the sweetest gig you can get. It is. It’s just hot. And he had the sauce and everybody loved him and he was promising all this stuff. And it was like, great. And now he is in the FBI. And as he described it, he misses his wife. He does not like working all the time. And now he’s in this impossible.
SPEAKER 07 :
That was his words. You need to say working in the FBI is harder than yapping in front of a microphone at home? Well, I guess so.
SPEAKER 06 :
And now he’s in this, I mean, poor guy. He is in a special pickle now because he’s in this place where his fans are like, wait a minute, you know, record scratch. Where are the things that you were going to unearth? And he promised all of this and then he got in and then, you know, the memo came out and everyone was like, what happened to Dan?
SPEAKER 15 :
I have to give Brandy a little credit. Since Bongino called her the dumbest woman in news, as she admitted, she was fairly objective. I mean, she could have gone scorched earth. If somebody calls me the dumbest talk show host on the planet, I don’t know that I’d be that gracious. But she was fairly gracious. Got to give her a little bit of credit. And everybody is sort of wondering what Bongino is talking about. I want to take a couple more calls on what you think it might be. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. Florida writes on the MyPillow text line, the Biden auto pen situation brings to mind The auto pen machine with the airplane movie autopilot seated behind the auto pen at the executive desk. That’s an image I don’t think any of us need to think about. Kara is in Eugene, Oregon, not too far from where we’re seated right now here in Kirkland. Hi, Kara. Welcome aboard. How are you?
SPEAKER 04 :
Hi. I’m all right, thank you. Now, considering this is just a fun, not so fun, but a guessing game, a parlor game, we’re really just guessing. I know. I think it might have something to do with how incredibly difficult it is to untangle the large entrenched knot that is the swamp.
SPEAKER 15 :
the work of immigration officials continues in America while opponents have found new ways to complain about it they want ICE to stop wearing masks I thought here’s this beautiful beautiful city This Seattle, Washington with the evergreens and the hills and the beautiful water and the space sky needle and Mount Rainier and Democrats are destroying it. And as we often say, like it or not, this has got to be intentional. It’s not accidental. I mean, the leadership of Washington state knows how offensive it is to take federal taxpayer money to support illegal immigrants. You don’t get federal benefits if you’ve snuck into this country illegally. That shouldn’t be a complicated proposition. You shouldn’t expect taxpayers in Texas to fund illegal immigrants living in Seattle, Washington. And Seattle, Washington now is so perturbed at the federal government withholding their federal funds, they’re suing the federal government. And that’s, John, what you’re up against as a resident of Everett, Washington. Here’s something else we’re up against. You’ve seen all the video of the mass deportations, right? People rounded up. Here’s a guy on social media. I don’t know who he is. I don’t even care. But here’s what he writes. My dad was an FBI agent. He never covered his face. DEA agents who arrest the most dangerous drug dealers in America don’t routinely cover their faces. FBI agents arresting serial killers and human traffickers don’t routinely cover their faces. But these cowards cover their faces when raiding Home Depot? It’s an insult to all law enforcement for these thugs to claim they need to cover their faces for personal safety. What are they hiding? Criminal records? Domestic assault records? Two weeks of training? Proud boy membership? Are they legal American citizens? Do they not want their families to know what they are doing? Are they worried they will face criminal liability? This is 2025. They can’t hide forever. Now, he knows full well what lunatic progressives in cities like Portland, yes, like Seattle, like Los Angeles, like New York, are doing to the law enforcement officers who are conducting these raids and these deportations. It’s a whole different ballgame for them. He knows that by comparing these deportations to the FBI arresting serial killers, that’s completely apples to oranges. You don’t have an army of progressive zealots who are doxing, who are identifying, who are exposing the families of law enforcement like they’re doing with ICE. Like they’re doing with these immigration raids. He knows that. They want to get these officers hurt or killed. It’s been a while since we heard from former TV host and journalist and Democrat Chris Matthews. When last we checked in, Matthews was no fan of Donald Trump. Well, he seems to be singing quite a different tune these days. Remember Chris Matthews? He’s still around. The MSNBC scold. He pops up once in a while. And he was on somebody’s podcast. Who was it, guys? I don’t have it on the cut sheet. Oh, Charlie Rose is back. I thought Charlie Rose faded into oblivion. But somehow Charlie Rose is back. So here’s a couple of… of old-timers, Charlie Rose and Chris Matthews, and Chris Matthews reacts to these negative poll numbers that Trump supposedly has, and Chris, who, whatever you think of him, been around the block quite a few times. He knows politics, he knows polling, and he says, about these polls, I ain’t buying it.
SPEAKER 08 :
To be honest with you, the country is moving towards Trump. These polls that come out and show him not doing well, I don’t buy that. I think his strength is still greater than the Democratic strength. He is a stronger public figure than the Democratic people. I mean, Obama still has tremendous charisma, but Trump has strength. And I think that’s what all voters look for. But they wanted a president who is a strong figure. And he’s got it. It’s just there. And half the country buys it. That’s what I think.
SPEAKER 15 :
My gosh, he sounds like he’s MAGA. Do we need to get Chris Matthews a red MAGA hat? But he’s right. He is right. You know me, I give credit where credit is due. Yes, Obama has charisma. But Trump has strength. That’s according to Chris Matthews. the former lefty from MSNBC. But you know the difference between Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow? Chris Matthews is like a blue dog Democrat. Chris Matthews is a pragmatic Democrat. Chris Matthews is a realist. And he’s right. I mean, ask yourself, what do you want in your president? You want charisma or you want strength? I started the hour talking about all the personality traits of Trump that people don’t like. Oh, we don’t like his tweets. We don’t like he picks fights with Rosie O’Donnell. Oh, we don’t like blah, blah, blah. You want strength? You got it. What do you think this trade deal represents? What do you think bolstering our military represents? What do you think a secure border represents? Obama gave flowery speeches. Yeah, Obama’s a guy you’d like to sit down with and have a beer, maybe. Maybe Trump is too edgy. You want strength? Or do you want somebody who gives you good sound bites? Somebody who looks good and sounds good? Somebody who’s got charisma? I can’t get enough of this Charlie Rose interview with Chris Matthews. Check out what he says about Trump’s political skills and how Joe Biden couldn’t do what Trump has been doing in a million years.
SPEAKER 08 :
We have never had a president so instantly spontaneous that he knows this minute, if he gets to 4 o’clock this afternoon, he will say, you know, that’s not really true anymore. He will know the mood of the country. He once and I had a talk with him about Zoolander movie, the Ben Stiller movie. And he said, Zoolander one, good time, good timing. Zoolander two, didn’t work. I mean, he’s instantaneous. He knew how to put down Jeff Bush, put down, well, All right. All these guys. His secretary of state, he put down at the time. Yeah, that’s right. He’s very good at knowing your condition, your worries, your insecurities. I mean, he’d be a great bully on a great school, a Catholic high school or grade school. I mean, he’d be the scariest bully because he knew everybody’s weakness. But he’s really good at the moment. I mean, he… He’s out there watching television and keeping up. Is this the right thing to do? What am I going to do right now? Biden couldn’t do that in a million years. Not in a million years. Mondale couldn’t do that. They don’t have the connection to the electricity of what’s going on in the country culturally. And he knows what works.
SPEAKER 15 :
Isn’t that amazing? Now, in a way, I mentioned a moment ago how Chris Matthews is like a blue dog Democrat. He’s an old school Democrat, kind of from the, I don’t know, almost the Kennedy era, maybe not quite Kennedy. But it’s the same difference between today’s progressives that are trying to hijack the Democrat Party and have. We saw some of the first pictures of the Obama Presidential Center this week. All I can say is, yikes. Are you seeing the pictures of the Barack Obama Presidential Library? Yasmin, can you put that picture up for us and have people see who are watching what this monstrosity looks like? Now look, obviously I’m not a fan of the Obama era. I’m not a fan of President Obama himself. But how about the building? This thing is impossible to describe. This is impossible to even define. It looks like something from Star Wars or worse. Look at that right now. Are you seeing this right now on Salem News Channel? It’s this giant, windowless, gross… Like, tower. If this isn’t a metaphor for today’s Democrat Party, I don’t know what is. Look at this thing. What do you call that? What was the place where Superman flew to go recharge his batteries? Was it Krypton? Is this something from Krypton? I mean, this is an ugly fortress of solitude. And as somebody from New York City just pointed out on the MyPillow text line, hundreds of trees were destroyed in Jackson Park, Illinois, to make room for this monstrosity. Monstrosity is the only word that comes to mind. Look at this thing. Gray and bleak, depressing. The whole lower half of it doesn’t have any windows. It looks like a giant trash can. It’s like a dumpster. And Tracy, what’s the price tag on it? I guarantee you it’s hundreds of millions of dollars. The funniest description of the Obama Presidential Library comes from somebody I saw posted on X over the weekend. It’s like what a five-year-old would draw if you told a five-year-old to draw a picture of a castle. That’s what it would look like. I mean, this is something that is grotesque. Tracy, can you see if you can find out the price tag and put it on the screen for me? Because if they paid more than $100,000 for this thing, somebody got ripped off. Now, I’m sure it’s all funded by private donations. It’s the grossest thing I’ve ever seen. I mean, it looks like something like a Mad Max movie. And I had to double-check it because I thought, there’s no way it’s real. This can’t be the Obama presidential library. What’s going to be inside this thing? I’m getting a bunch of messages on the MyPillow text line. It looks like a cheese grater. Tracy, I think Eric’s got a number here, $830 million price tag. I know it’s hundreds of millions. I know it’s hundreds of millions. This is the Democrat Party in a nutshell. Here it is, right here, in living color.
