This episode also pays homage to Charlie Kirk, providing a heartfelt narrative on his impact and the void his untimely departure has created in the conservative movement. Whether you’re concerned about political overreach or the state of civil discourse in America, this episode packs a punch with expert opinions and Mike’s unparalleled commentary.
SPEAKER 01 :
From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 04 :
We have a lot going on in the country, of course, and tomorrow we’re taking the show to Phoenix. We’ll be at the Charlie Kirk Memorial Service. It’s been announced that there’s going to be just a huge roster of those who will be paying tribute to Charlie, including President Trump, Vice President Vance, many members of the Trump administration, the Cabinet. And, of course, we’ll be there at State Farm Stadium as well. You know, there was some shocking news. Every day it just feels like we’re getting hit over and over again with new news and more information. Here’s the latest. Biden’s FBI, it was revealed yesterday, targeted Charlie’s Turning Point USA. The FBI director, Kash Patel, and Chuck Grassley revealed that this political weaponization was continuing and was underway. And so what a rare treat we have. And this is kind of fun for us here in our Tampa Bay studios because we’ve never had an in-studio guest before. So we’re breaking in our guest position with the attorney general from the state of Florida, James Utmeyer, who graduated from the University of Florida. Mark Lecker, one of our guys here, said he’s a gator. He’s a gator. Make sure everybody knows that the attorney general is a gator. Mr. Attorney General, welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show. It’s
SPEAKER 08 :
great to be here. Yeah, thanks for having me.
SPEAKER 04 :
No, I know you’ve got some business here in Tampa Bay, so we thought we’d have you stop by and talk about some really tricky, difficult issues. Of course, Florida, I drive around, lots of flags at half-staff, a lot of people in shock and disbelief that this happened to arguably America’s most prominent conservative influencers, Charlie Kirk, who had deep Florida connections. One of my first text message exchanges with him a few years ago was him talking about residing in Tampa. So he’s obviously near and dear to Floridians. Can we start with this shocking news that the FBI was apparently targeting a number of conservative organizations, including Turning Point USA, of all things. And I understand that as attorney general of Florida, you have a response to that.
SPEAKER 08 :
Absolutely. Yesterday, the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmed what many of us already knew, which is that Biden officials at the Department of Justice and FBI were targeting almost 100 individuals and organizations because of their conservative or Republican beliefs. organizations like Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA, like the Republican Attorneys General Association, our political arm for the AGs. Obviously, everybody at home knows what happened to the president. So we’re going to go after these people. We’re going to use every tool that we have civilly and criminally, possible civil rights violations, and we’ll have subpoenas going out in the weeks ahead to gather as much info as we can on who, you know, what individuals were involved.
SPEAKER 04 :
You know, I don’t think people even comprehend the connection that Florida has to a lot of these national issues. I mean, one of the assassination attempts, of course, on President Trump’s life happened on a golf course here in Florida. So you definitely have your hands full there. I think Americans all over are thankful that Florida is going to take a lead here in trying to get to the bottom of this. Mr. Attorney General, this has got to stop. We’ve got to stop seeing the FBI used for going after groups or organizations that have a political ideology that maybe the current administration doesn’t agree with. And it would include the current one, too. We shouldn’t weaponize the Justice Department in any way, shape, or form.
SPEAKER 08 :
No, malicious prosecutions and political witch hunts have no place in our justice system. A lot of these organizations and influencers, they call Florida home. They’re based here. People at home here know by now in Florida, we don’t just talk the talk. We actually do something about it. We’re a rule of law state. We’re action oriented. And we’re going to pursue this investigation and hold as many wrongdoers accountable as we can.
SPEAKER 04 :
We’re visiting with the Florida Attorney General James Uthmeyer here in the studios of the Mike Gallagher Show. We’re glad you’re with us. And if you have any questions or input for the Attorney General, feel free to text us your comments, and that’s a good way for us to share those with him, 800-655-MIKE, because you’re doing a fantastic job. I’m not saying that because you’re sitting here. I’m so proud to have been driven out of New York City a few years ago and becoming a Florida resident like so many others. We’re glad to have you. Sean Hannity. We’re all glad to have you. Governor DeSantis, we’ve talked about, look, getting out of other, some of these, and that’s a big deal, right? Because people are fleeing blue states and coming to a place like Florida that seems to have its act together.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, we’ve got big cities, Tampa, Miami, but we don’t have all these murders and crime rates that you see in big cities, in sanctuary states, in blue states. I think that’s why so many people are flocking here. We want this to be the safest place to raise a family. We support law enforcement. We support free speech. And if people cross the line and want to threaten or harass others, we hold them accountable.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, and perhaps one of the reasons we don’t have the kind of mass shootings and some of the violence you see in big blue cities is not only do we have Republican legislators like your boss, like you, that have common sense response, including the right to keep and bear arms. And that’s been a big issue recently here in Florida, and that’s the whole issue of open carry in Florida. Can you bring us up to date on where that is?
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right. Last week, the appellate court up in the Northern District of Florida, the First District Court of Appeals, they struck down a longstanding Florida law that prohibits open carry. They struck it down following, you know, recent United States Supreme Court decisions. They struck it down as inconsistent with our Constitution and, you know, the interpretation derived from the time of the founding. This is the right result. It becomes the law of the state. I’m happy to see it. But I also warn people, you know, don’t. Don’t abuse it. If you go out there and you’re open, caring in a way that’s violent, threatening, harassing, again, we will hold you accountable. We have a strong commitment to the Constitution, but we also have a strong commitment to fighting crime in the state of Florida.
SPEAKER 04 :
We’re having a big debate, certainly in our world, over free speech versus hate speech. And the Attorney General of the United States this week, Pam Bondi, Floridian. has gotten tongues wagging over some comments she made on a podcast. If you don’t mind, if you can be with us for a few more minutes, I want to ask you about that. Of course. We’re talking to the Attorney General, James Utmeyer, here in the Mike Gallagher Show studios, and we’re glad you’re with us. Again, 800-655-MIKE. Great text message right now from Texas. Thank the Attorney General for this investigation into the weaponization. of our justice system, this is the way to do it. There’s a lot more coming up on a busy Wednesday breaking news episode. We’re glad you’re here in the Relief Factor studios. More coming up with the Florida Attorney General next.
SPEAKER 07 :
Me and Mrs. Jones

SPEAKER 01 :
Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 04 :
Our rare in-studio guest as you’re taking a look at Everglades, Florida on the Salem News Channel studios on SNC.TV. The Attorney General James Uthmeyer is with us in studio. Mr. Attorney General, I’ve got to ask you about the provocative remarks from the United States Attorney General Ashley Moody. Ashley Moody. Pam Bondi, I’m getting my— A lot of Tampa AGs. A lot of Tampa AGs. I’ve gotten them all mixed up. Pam Bondi said this week that we will go after you. We will target people with hate speech. You can’t incite people to kill people. This is a tough, tough area because, on the one hand, if you’re calling somebody like Charlie Kirk a fascist over and over and over and over again, and then some 22-year-old carves the word apparently fascist on bullets and bullet shell casings and kills him, somebody could say that speech led to what happened to Charlie. On the other hand, Charlie himself once posted, there is no such thing as hate speech in America. There’s gross speech, there’s reprehensible speech, there’s evil speech, but there’s no hate speech. Can you give me the Florida Attorney General’s perspective on how to… deal with this very complicated issue? Sure.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, I think what AG Bondi was saying is speech that starts to, you know, directly call for violence or threaten certain individuals, speech that’s so specific in nature, wanting to cause harm to people, that will not be tolerated. It certainly can be prosecuted if you are directly calling for somebody to be harmed or killed. But, you know, look, there’s a lot of speech out there that’s gross and There’s speech out there that I strongly disagree with. But that is why we have the First Amendment. We’re supposed to have the disagreement and the discourse, the exchange of ideas, the ability to even criticize people in our own government. So, no, people can’t be prosecuted for free speech. But if they’re calling for harm to an individual, I’m certainly going to tell our law enforcement to go investigate and look at it. And look, law enforcement, they have difficult decisions to make, but that’s why they investigate. They look at the other context. They look at other communications that may be out there that suggest somebody may be a great danger to society. I’ll tell you what people don’t have a right to, though. They can have all these gross opinions, but that doesn’t mean the state has to employ them. So we’re looking at all these public school teachers. We’re looking at state employees that are celebrating this tragic murder. And we’re going to make sure that they lose their jobs. We don’t want our little kids in front of somebody that’s celebrating, you know, such political terrorism.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s not an unreasonable position to take. I mean, these are, like you said, these are teachers. These are mental health professionals. These are state employees who have positions of responsibility and authority. Mr. Attorney General, have you been shocked at the amount of vitriol that has come from people like that?
SPEAKER 08 :
I have been shocked. But I think this is what happens when you’ve got good versus evil. I mean, I believe we as conservatives, I believe Charlie, we advocate truth. And in a debate, truth will win. Common sense, reason, and truth will win. And when the other side realizes they can’t win on the arguments, they turn to danger. They turn to murder. They try to silence us. So we as conservatives, we have to band together. We need to speak louder than ever. We need to continue to advocate for truth because it wins.
SPEAKER 04 :
I want to go back to what was revealed yesterday about the FBI being weaponized, apparently, and targeting a number of conservative organizations. As you said, this isn’t new to you or to your office. This is something you’ve been aware of. This has been an appalling event.
SPEAKER 08 :
uh trend and it didn’t just happen overnight this has been building over some matter of years has it not it appears that way you’ve got you know a leftist deep state weaponization of government that is very concerning i mean thank god president trump won and we are getting to the bottom of it but at the end of the day people should never be using government positions of power to go after others potentially criminally trying to incarcerate them for years This is wrong. Our founders are rolling over in their graves because of it. So we’re going to continue to investigate. Like I said, we’re going to have subpoenas going out within the week. We’re going to hold wrongdoers accountable.
SPEAKER 04 :
And that’s the way it is done. Why is it so hard? You know, we talk about red states and blue states. And some people jokingly say we ought to have two countries. You know, you want to live in Berkeley? Knock yourself out. You know, but there is, it seems to me, a fundamental failure on the part of a lot of these blue state attorneys general, governors, mayors. county commissioners. It’s not hard to be neutral. It’s not difficult. And I will say from your office, also Ashley Moody, I have seen the effort to say, look, we’ve got to follow the rule of law. This is about right versus wrong. This isn’t about Republicans versus Democrats. There’s a lot of Democrats here in Florida. As you as you know, but but ultimately, it’s not difficult to do.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s not that hard when you look at the preamble, you know, we the people. But the first thing listed is established justice. Rule of law. Yeah. Supporting law enforcement is going to lead to lower murder rates. enforcing the law as it’s written and not trying to bring in some political animus. It’s not difficult. Do your job. Do it right. Enforce the law. That’s what the founders would have wanted. It’s what I’m going to do. We’re going to put bad people away and we’re going to make Florida very safe. And I hope the other states in the country will follow.
SPEAKER 04 :
What should Floridians be looking forward to and coming next from your office? What do you see on the horizon? Because I know there’s a lot of good things that we have in store for us here in the state of Florida.
SPEAKER 08 :
Sure. Our number one priority is to protect our kids, do it in the school system, do it through criminal justice. We’ve been a part of almost 500 child predator arrests since I took office. We’re using technology and social media to identify these evil people that are pursuing these new ways to get to our kids. We’ve got to protect our next generation. We’ve got to keep them safe. And people can look out for many more arrests and convictions to get these dangerous predators off the streets.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, I know that I speak for Hannity and a lot of fellow broadcasters and hosts who have sought sanctuary here in Florida. And we are so – I mean, I’m so honored to get to spend a little bit of time with you and to brag on Florida to the country because everybody gets it. You know, I mean, and there’s challenges. We’ve got property tax issues and, you know, we’ve got – now, for some reason, no hurricanes so far this year, God willing. That holds. But this is a great place to be.
SPEAKER 08 :
We welcome patriots that share our conservative values. You know, some of the New Yorkers coming down, I get scared they’re going to try to turn us into what they’re fleeing. But for the most part, the people coming in, they like what we’re doing. They like the safety. They like the security. We’re the number one state in almost every meaningful metric now with GDP growth and business formations. Governor DeSantis has done a great job investing in infrastructure, roads, trying to deal with the influx of traffic. But Florida’s doing well, and we’re going to fight to keep it that way.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, the good news is the New Yorkers can come down here and try all they want, but they’ve got to get through Governor DeSantis and Attorney General James Uthmeyer before they can be successful, and we’re grateful for you. Keep fighting the good fight. I’m glad you could visit with us here in the studio for a little bit, Mr. Attorney General. Thank you for having me. All the best. Stay safe. Thank you. We appreciate it. The Attorney General of the State of Florida joining us here on the Mike Gallagher Show. There’s a whole lot more coming up. Lots of breaking news. This FBI story is astounding. From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 04 :
There are a lot of huge stories to cover today. One of the biggest, of course, I think, is the revelation that Joe Biden’s FBI was evidently targeting and spying on Turning Point USA. There are all kinds of documents that Chuck Grassley revealed from 2022, 2023, 2020. This weaponization of our government to punish political opponents is quite real. And I just keep thinking about the words of Greg Gutfeld on Fox this week. We don’t care anymore. We are angry. We are resolute. We are fed up. Axios today had a big article about the murder of Charlie leading to a GOP future that is foretold. What does a post-Trump Republican Party look like? And they report on how the political ecosystem has been mobilized after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It’s too soon to talk about the midterms. I’ll only say I believe with all of my heart that we’re going to see the 2026 election be the Charlie Kirk election. Millions of people are leaving the Democrat Party. They are completely disgusted with how their fellow Democrats have responded to to Charlie’s assassination. The fire chief of Cleveland, Ohio, has been removed from duty due to his insensitive and incendiary social media post. Anthony P. Luke is a fire chief. This is the chief of the Cleveland Division of Fire. He was placed on paid administrative leave. I’m sitting here. The mayor of Cleveland, Justin Bibb, announced that the post crossed the line. And I am just blown away by all of this. Steve Bannon yesterday had a reaction to the text messages that have been revealed from the killer. And, you know, I’m struggling with this because I want to talk about the killer. I’m still numb and still grieving Charlie’s senseless slaughter, and I don’t want to give this kid any oxygen. I just don’t. I don’t want to even look at him. I don’t want to hear his voice. I don’t want to talk about him. Steve Bannon has expressed skepticism over the text messages, saying he’s not really buying it. If you’ve seen the text messages… that were revealed yesterday as part of the charging documents, Steve said, I’m not particularly buying those text messages. It just seems too stilted, too much like a script, actually like a bad script. So we’ve got to get to the bottom of it. You’ve got to get to the bottom of these groups. You’ve got to get to the bottom of Antifa. And I would totally agree with Steve if it’s true that the killer, incidentally, I’ve been a broadcaster for going on now, I can’t believe it, I’m going to admit this, almost 50 years. And I’m very careful about, if you’ve listened to me or you know me, I’m very careful about saying alleged. I understand that even this 22-year-old is innocent until proven guilty. Charlie’s dead. The person who killed him admitted it. The whole world knows he did it. And I’m struggling with even saying alleged. And I’ve always been very good at it. I’m very careful about it. I’m a broadcaster, and I’d like to think I’m pretty responsible. Why am I going to say alleged? Everybody knows he did it. Now, there may be a lot of people involved. In fact, it’s been reported that he talked to 20 people via text on Discord. and was communicating with a whole group of people. There’s reporting that says that there were people the day before the Utah event that said something big is going to happen to Charlie Kirk tomorrow. Now, who knows what’s real and what’s fiction? There’s a lot of fiction out there, too, a lot of fake news, a lot of stuff that’s not true. So we must be careful. But doggone it, I don’t want to say alleged. And I don’t know if it’s just because of my grief. I don’t know if it’s just because of my friendship with Charlie and working with him. I don’t know if it’s too personal for me. It’s not alleged. Charlie’s dead. Erica’s a widow. Those children lost their father. The Kirk family lost their son and their brother. And I don’t want to say alleged. I just don’t. Fire chief of Cleveland. A fire chief. And no one can give me a good answer as to why these people, these lunatics, are willing to post their evil, hateful heart publicly. I keep thinking about somebody. Look, let me think of an example of somebody I’m kind of glad died. I was trying to think of this. I can’t think of anybody that I was glad was killed. Jeffrey Dahmer, when he had his head bashed in by a fellow inmate. I guess there was a part of me that thought, well, you know, all right, he’s not getting three square meals a day anymore. He’s not watching cable TV. But I wouldn’t. Consider posting publicly any private thoughts I had that a monster was killed. Okay? If these people really thought Charlie was a monster, and of course he was anything but, but if people felt that way, if you feel that way, would you say it out loud and say you’re glad he got killed? Would you post it on social media? Of course you wouldn’t. Normal people don’t do that. Normal people, look, and there are people on the left who are having a normal response. I have to admit, I’m grateful to Ezra Klein. Never thought I’d say that on this show. Ezra Klein is a leftist New York Times columnist. Do you know he’s under siege right now from the left because he dared to write a column that appeared on the pages of the New York Times that said Charlie was practicing politics the right way. Ezra Klein, liberal New York Times columnist, wrote, and I quote, The foundation of a free society is the ability to participate in politics without fear of violence. To lose that is to risk losing everything. Charlie and his family just lost everything. As a country, we came a step closer to losing everything, too. He said you can dislike much of what Charlie Kirk believed. And the following statement is still true. Kirk was practicing politics in exactly the right way. Liberal columnist who wrote he was showing up to college campuses and talking with anyone who would talk to him. He was one of the era’s most effective practitioners of persuasion. When the left thought its hold on the hearts and minds of college students was nearly absolute, Charlie Kirk showed up again and again to break it. Slowly, then all at once, he did. College-age voters shifted sharply right in the 2024 election. Political violence, writes the liberal New York Times columnist, is a virus. Political violence is a virus. It is contagious. Ezra Klein says, Charlie Kirk and I were on different sides of most political arguments. We were on the same side on the continued possibility of American politics. It is supposed to be an argument, not a war. It’s supposed to be one with words, not ended with bullets. Ezra Klein wrote, I wanted Charlie Kirk to be safe for his sake, but I also wanted him to be safe for mine. And for the sake of our larger shared project, the same is true for Josh Shapiro, for Melissa Hortman, Hoffman, Thompson, Trump, Pelosi, Gretchen Whitmer. We are all safe, or none of us are. Gosh, I’m so grateful to this man, and he is getting eviscerated by the left. They want him fired. They want him out. They want him gone. How dare a liberal columnist proclaim that Charlie Kirk was practicing politics the right way. Gosh, I’m really fearful for how broken we are right now. And I wonder if you think we can get it all back. 800-655-MIKE. Got to give you the details on what was revealed yesterday about Biden’s FBI. spying evidently, targeting Charlie’s Turning Point USA as part of the political weaponization project. I’m glad we’re here together. Boy, I hope you know how much I appreciate the ability to come in here with you and work all this out on a Wednesday in the Relief Factor studios. 800-655-MIKE. 800-655-6453. I want to put your voice front and center here on the Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 01 :
From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 04 :
As if to add insult to injury, as we get ready to head to Phoenix for Charlie Kirk’s memorial service Sunday morning, it is revealed, has been revealed… by the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley that the FBI subpoenaed a number of conservative organizations and individuals, including Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA. Here’s Senator Josh Hawley on Fox News explaining what was discovered.
SPEAKER 08 :
Why do you think Biden’s FBI was really investigating Charlie Kirk?
SPEAKER 02 :
Try to intimidate him. You know, it’s interesting, Jesse, when I heard that today from Chairman Grassley, something came clear to me. Charlie had said to me a couple of years ago now, he’d taken me aside at one point and said, I think that we are being targeted, that TPUSA is being targeted. And he said, you know, can you help us? And I said, anything you need me to do? And he said, well, listen, I’m just finding out about this. This has got to be what he was talking about. And now we know that Joe Biden, once again, weaponized the FBI to go after his political opponents. It’s nothing but terrorism. It’s an attempt to silence and intimidate. I’m so glad that Charlie was not intimidated right up to the last day that he had on this earth. That is why he is such a sterling example. But you know what? What Joe Biden did in his administration, we can’t ever allow to happen again. You look at the climate they created, Charlie. We’re reaping the fruits of that now. The climate of hate and division and suspicion that they deliberately created for years to try to hold on to power, it’s despicable, and it’s time to turn the page off.
SPEAKER 04 :
It’s beyond despicable, actually. It’s grotesque. And Senator Hawley used the right word. The word here is intimidation. That’s what this is all about. I mean, people are saying publicly… Hey, conservatives ought to be scared because we’re coming for you next. Oh, that’s all over the place. Have you perused TikTok? Check out what this prominent TikToker said about Charlie’s wife and children and all conservatives.
SPEAKER 03 :
To be honest, I don’t really care if anybody who is a… smite supremacists get sniped i hope all of them get sniped i hope more of them get sniped i hope they come and burn their homes down to the ground like honestly it could have been worse it should have been worse why not just wipe out the whole bloodline wipe it out Remove them. Remove them from play. Because people are really upset that we don’t feel empathy. I’m following in his footsteps. He told us not to feel empathy and that it wasn’t wrong and all this, this, and that, and this, that, and third. I agree with him. I don’t have empathy. He’s right. Empathy makes you weak. And I definitely do not have empathy for my political enemies and people who go against my human rights. It’s that simple. You wanted to play stupid games, you won the stupid prize. Eternal nap.
SPEAKER 04 :
And she winked at the end. A smile and a wink. The demon winks. And these are demons. This is demonic stuff. I will give you what you might consider to be some satisfaction. On TikTok, there’s a montage of a bunch of people like her who found out they got fired for their grotesque, evil behavior. reactions to charlie’s assassination you in the mood to hear a little montage of people like that nasty demonic woman getting fired from their jobs and how they took the news sit back and maybe enjoy this i was just fired from my job so i’ve lost my job and i called into the office yesterday um
SPEAKER 05 :
And told me that they could either fire me or I could put a resignation in. But that would look better. But they fired me or they’re getting rid of me because of my TikTok. Somebody screenshotted a lot of my TikToks.
SPEAKER 06 :
I made some stupid comments about Charlie Kirk on the day that he was shot. I said some things on blue sky and on threads that I, I’m sorry, not sorry for, but I said them and I deleted them when it was requested that I do so by my employer. And then today on a weekend, on a weekend, I’m told that I am no longer employed at Microsoft. After six years building the diversity, equity and inclusion department from scratch. I lose my job. Because one of you, some random person. Reports my posts to my employer goes out of their way to find out where I work and takes my job, takes my security away from me for a thought. For an opinion, and you talk about freedom of speech like you care about it. And you’re just going to take my my money, my life, my food off my plate because I don’t like Charlie Kirk. That’s not okay. It is not okay to target me because I felt joy that day. I can’t help how I feel. I felt joy. That’s me. That’s what I believe. That’s what I think of him. I can’t help that. So I don’t deserve a job? You fired from my…
SPEAKER 07 :
I was just fired from my job. I was just fired from my job. I was just fired from my job. I was just fired from my job. I have nothing but this. I have nothing but this website. I have nothing anymore. I have nothing. I have nothing anymore. I have nothing anymore. I have nothing anymore. I have nothing anymore.
SPEAKER 04 :
