On this episode of The Mike Gallagher Show, Mike takes listeners deep into the chaos surrounding mass deportations, political violence, and the media’s selective silence. From the recent ICE facility shooting in Dallas to the attempted assassinations of President Trump, Mike questions why the public hears so little about these violent actors and their motives. He and longtime colleague Phil Boyce discuss the generational divide over immigration enforcement and how young Americans perceive mass deportations.
The program also highlights the powerful spiritual aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, including a listener testimony about an unlikely conversion sparked by the memorial service.
SPEAKER 05 :
From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 04 :
I saw a headline this morning on TV, one of those graphics. They call them chyrons. Democrats accused of demonizing ICE agents. Accused? The sun was accused of setting in the west. The sky has been accused of being blue. Democrats accused of demonizing ICE agents. You want me to play the litany of slurs and smears and attacks that ICE agents have had to endure from Democrats? Prominent Democrats. Not your garden variety, purple-haired weirdo in the basement. I mean the big-time Democrats, the Hakeem Jeffries, the Gavin Newsoms, all of them have vilified and eviscerated ICE agents. And then all of a sudden we’re surprised when somebody shows up at an ICE office, a detention facility in Dallas, and shoots the place up and kills… One of the very people that the leftist was trying to protect. Wow. We’re in a dark time right now. It’s a dark, dark period in our nation’s history. I was just talking to Tracy. Some of the best shows happen off the air. I had this great conversation with my boss, Phil Boyce. Phil was a lecturer in front of a bunch of college kids yesterday. And the college kids were asking Phil questions. Do you guys realize how many young people recoil at seeing families, migrant families they call them, rounded up, terrified, and sent home? Do you guys have any compassion at all for that? And, you know, of course, you and me, we dig our heels in and we say, with love, this is what we voted for. Trump promised this would be happening. He’s delivering on the promise. It’s happening, and at least according to most polls that I’ve seen, Americans approve. But Phil and I agreed, and, you know, maybe this is not a time to start getting squishy, but there are young people who are seeing this and they’re saying, is this the way to go? And, of course, it’s up to us to inform, to illuminate, to educate with love, sure, with compassion, and say to these young people, we always knew this was going to be rough. We always knew how hard this was going to be. You and I talked about it when Trump was not even in office, when he was on the campaign trail. We talked about what would happen when the day came and the mass deportations began. You better get ready for all the tearful media coverage of the poor families, the hardworking migrants, like they like to call them, being ripped apart, shipped back to Guatemala or Haiti or Mexico or El Salvador or Venezuela. We all knew this was going to be here. What we didn’t recognize, I think, was the way Democrats would normalize political violence. And they have. And they have. Whether it’s trying to kill President Trump, killing Charlie Kirk, putting pipe bombs under Fox News vehicles, shooting up places, on and on. This is getting uglier and uglier, and we’re left with what do we do about it? You know, back to the shows that are great that are off the air. So Tracy and I were talking. Isn’t it fascinating how we know so little about some of these bad actors, these violent leftists? We don’t know anything about the guy who tried to kill President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. And, of course, they killed him. He’s gone. What was his story? We don’t know a lot about the guy that tried to kill President Trump on the golf course. What’s his story? The other day, yesterday, I guess, he got convicted and tried to plunge a pen into his neck. But this is the guy that was making all these trips to Ukraine? Why don’t we know much about him? And the guy yesterday. who killed an illegal at the Dallas ICE detention facility. What about him? I saw little snippets about his mother. She hated Trump. His brother said he wasn’t a very good marksman. But what was his agenda? He apparently wrote anti-ICE on the shell casings. And we’re actually saying, what was the agenda? He couldn’t make it any clearer if he held a press conference before he climbed up on the roof. If you’re going to write anti-something on a shell casing and then fire bullets at ATF officials and officers, rather, your agenda seems pretty clear. But still, MSNBC, CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, we don’t really know what the motive was. We don’t know why. We don’t know much about this guy. Why is that? I mean, let’s start there for a couple of minutes. As we kick off a Thursday in the Relief Factor studios, welcome in, incidentally, 800-655-MIKE. Thank you for being there. Thank you for being part of this show. Thank you for listening to us on the radio or watching us on Salem News Channel or streaming online, however you get the show, because I don’t know what I’d do without you. Look, I love celebrating great times with you. And I appreciate getting through hard times with you as well. And we’re going through a hard time. We’re going through a very difficult time right now. So let’s start here. Why don’t we know about the guy who tried to kill Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania? Why don’t we know about the guy who tried to kill Trump on the golf course? One of them’s dead. One of them’s still alive. Why do you suppose we don’t know much about them? Does the media not show any interest in would-be assassins for Trump? I’ve got to believe we’d know all about would-be assassins for prominent Democrats. Books have been written about Lee Harvey Oswald. I’ve read a lot of them. Fascinating story. He was on their radar. They knew who he was. Big Cuban sympathizer. with shady ties to shady figures. So why don’t we know about the two would-be assassins for Donald Trump? 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. It’s a great text from Pennsylvania as I walk into the studio. Excuse me, from Georgia, from Atlanta. And this is why I love the feedback and getting to be with this community called the Mike Gallagher Show. Atlanta writes, Mike, I was just thinking how strange it is that in less than a year, we’ve lost three of the most powerful voices of freedom on air. Prager, Gorka, and Charlie Kirk. And of course, all of them We’re part of the Salem family, the Salem media group that presents the Mike Gallagher show to you. Oh, make no mistake, we’re all hurting. And believe me, Atlanta, we think about that often. I’ve talked about that a lot with my colleagues and my bosses. First Dennis and his terrible fall, taking him off the air, quadriplegic. Sebastian Gorka. Heeding the call to go to the White House and serve at the pleasure of the President, directing counterterrorism efforts, losing his voice from the airwaves. And now Charlie Kirk. And all three are teammates. All three of them, men that I have known and loved and worked with for years. So give us a little grace because all of us here at Salem are certainly hurting. We feel a little shell-shocked. It’s going to be great to be with people tomorrow night in Sarasota. Larry Elder and I are going to be at Michael’s on East. There are just a handful of tickets left. I’ve been telling you a lot about Americans for a Balanced Budget when I knew that I’d have the opportunity to talk to a seasoned pollster, the CEO of McLaughlin & Associates, a guy with decades of experience in political polling. You see him on Fox News, CNN. That’s right, he does both because he’s that good. John McLaughlin joins us here on the Mike Gallagher Show. John, good to see you. Thanks for popping in. How are you?
SPEAKER 02 :
It’s a pleasure to see you again, Mike. Thanks for the opportunity.
SPEAKER 04 :
You bet. Welcome back. You know, I’ve been talking about this campaign with Americans for a Balanced Budget, and I’ve shared that your polling shows that over 70% of Trump supporters favor preserving the health care tax credits. Can you share with us why you think that resonates so strongly, even in traditionally conservative areas that typically oppose government spending, or even with the president’s own base?
SPEAKER 02 :
Because it’s a tax credit. You’re seeing stories and hearing reports coming out of Washington right now about Congress negotiating to wipe out these health care tax credits because these are not handouts. This is basically a tax credit to help working people whose employers don’t give them health insurance. They might be working two, three jobs, but they don’t have health insurance. And they get, under the exchanges, they get a health care tax credit to help them pay for, if they qualify, if they have need to qualify to buy their own health insurance. But in Washington, the crazy language is that they call it a subsidy. And when we asked about if they, right, and you know what it is? I mean, it’s an attempt by Washington to just bleed working Americans, to bleed working class Americans. If you take away those healthcare tax credits, what happens to the working class people that have it? Well, you have to go on Medicaid. So, you know, they’ll have to be, you know, Washington Congress, they didn’t want to even take the Democrats. They want to take illegal immigrants off Medicaid. So you’d have to go on Medicaid and then we’d have to, you know, provide that type of expense. But when we asked about people, if they support I mean, if they support these health care tax credits, 86 to eight, all voters did. This was on June 19th. We were the first pollsters that did this. And then Republicans, they supported 84 to 9. Trump voters, 82 to 10. It’s common sense. If somebody can’t afford health care and they want to work and they want to pay for it themselves, if health care is kind of expensive for a lot of people, If they need help paying it, the government has been giving them health care tax credits, not subsidies, not handouts, not a welfare check. And as they earn more money, you know, they need less of a tax credit. But this is this is crazy. Only Washington where they want to take away, take something away from working class people. And. These are the voters that elected Donald Trump. We turned the Republican Party into a party of working class voters instead of country club Republicans. And here they are in Washington wanting to take away the health care of these working class Americans.
SPEAKER 04 :
So, John, based on your own polling. What do you what would you how would you advise Republicans? Look, we’re facing a high stakes election in 2026. You have a lot of Republicans who campaigned on lowering health care costs. What words of wisdom would you have for those Republican candidates as to how to navigate this kind of sticky, complicated issue?
SPEAKER 02 :
This is so easy because tomorrow we’ll release a national poll of 1,000 likely voters where the generic ballot favors the Republicans 47-41. Because we voted for the Trump tax cuts. We voted for the Trump tax cuts. The Democrats wanted a tax increase. And now you’ve got, okay, they’re negotiating in Washington. No brainer. 77% of all voters are more likely to vote for a senator or congressman who votes to preserve these tax credits. 74% are less likely to vote for a candidate who votes against preserving these tax credits. This is one where we steal one from the Democrats. So, you know, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, their goal is not to give us anything. They’re just ruthless. They don’t care how many people they hurt. They don’t care, you know, they want government to get bigger. They want Donald Trump to be gone. They want to be able to start the impeachments. I mean, this is ridiculous. We have to vote for this because it’s this is I mean, it’s a health care tax credit for working class voters. It’s so easy. This is, you know, like my friend who worked for Donald Trump with us years ago, but he passed away was Pat Goodell. And Pat had a saying that Democrats are the crooked party and Republicans are the stupid party. We need to be the stupid party. We need to pass these. Get this done. Get it off the table. Put it in our budget. Keep the health care tax credits. We love tech.
SPEAKER 04 :
I appeared with Pat on Fox News before. Great guy. Let me just close with this. Let’s not bury the lead. You’re one of the most respected pollsters in America. You gave us a scoop, I think, here on the Mike Gallagher show. So tomorrow you’re releasing a poll. We’ve only got about 30 seconds left here, but 47 to 41 percent Republicans are ahead in 2026.
SPEAKER 02 :
Right, in the generic ballot for Congress. But we’re not over 50, and a lot of that undecided will go back to the Democrats. So we need to keep setting the agenda and watch the Democrats collapse, because their future? Zora Mondami.
SPEAKER 04 :
There you go. Yeah, that’s right. Look, it breaks my heart for New York, but it gives me hope for the country, because if the country sees New York electing that guy, that’s pretty good for Republicans. John, thank you. SPEAKER 04 :
Want some good news? Church attendance nationally is skyrocketing. More and more people after Charlie’s murder, his assassination, are going back to church. I had a really wonderful exchange with a caller named Jennifer earlier this week. If you missed it, I want to replay it for you. I think it might lift your spirits. And to be in that arena, maybe my friend just didn’t have that. He was watching it on TV. Maybe you couldn’t feel that energy, that emotion, that spiritual beauty of Sunday’s service. And maybe nobody knows that better than Jennifer in Pennsylvania because, Jennifer, as I understand it, you had somebody who had quite a conversion, quite an experience while watching the Charlie Kirk Memorial. Is that correct?
SPEAKER 01 :
That’s correct.
SPEAKER 04 :
Tell me all about it.
SPEAKER 01 :
A little bit of background. My girlfriend lives two hours away. Her husband has a type of dementia that caused him to go blind, and now he has Lewy body dementia, and he needs assistance walking. He needed to get away, so I thought, well, I wanted to watch Charlie Kirk’s memorial anyway, so I would watch it with her husband, Doug, who has for years rejected Jesus as his Savior. and always makes a joke about it when we try to talk to him. So he’s losing his memory. He still has his long term, but he’s losing so much so fast. And I prayed on my way down to her house, Lord Jesus, today may be his last opportunity to get this. So my girlfriend left, and he was more receptive with me being there. And he was so touched by the speakers and by what happened. I’ve never seen him so touched. When the pastor, and I can’t remember which pastor, said, if you are a believer, if you’ve received Christ as your Savior, you stay seated.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right, Rob McCoy. Yep. Okay. Charlie’s pastor, by the way, Jennifer.
SPEAKER 01 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 04 :
I kind of thought that might be the one. Sure.
SPEAKER 01 :
So then he said, if you want to receive Christ as your Savior, and he had explained before this what it means to receive Christ as your Savior. He said, I want you to stand. Doug, my friend who’s blind, popped off of the couch like he was shot out of a cannon and let out a groan and stood there, unable to see, but staring at the television and And then the pastor said, I want a believer now to go over and pray with somebody who’s standing. So I went over to my friend, I put my arm around him, and I said, Doug, do you want to receive Jesus as your Savior? And he said, yes. He was lucid in that moment. I prayed with him, and then I asked him, did you receive Christ as your Savior? And he said, yes. His life is eternal. bouncing off the walls because we knew time was running out, and God was just so gracious to give this man one last opportunity. How about that?
SPEAKER 04 :
How about that to put a smile on your face? More of the Mike Gallagher Show coming up.
SPEAKER 05 :
From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 04 :
I love sharing conversations that happened off the air on this show. Tracy and I, Eric, Christian, Alex, Joey, all the people that we work with. This morning, I have a little routine. I check in pretty regularly with my boss. My boss, who is probably one of the most respected content evaluators of talk radio and television content in the country. And I’ve worked for Phil Boyce for many years. And Phil was a guest lecturer in front of a bunch of college kids yesterday at a big Ivy League school. I don’t think he traveled there. I think it was on Zoom. But Phil shared with me what a whole bunch of well-meaning young people said to him. And in the aftermath of the ICE shooting in Dallas, in the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination, As we’re seeing leftists resort to violence over the mass deportation that is going on. Look, we knew it was going to be bad. You and I talked about this a long time ago. That when the mass deportation that Americans voted for commenced, the left would lose their minds. And they are losing their minds. They are turning to violence, political violence. Yesterday was an act of political violence. Utah was an act of political violence. Butler, Pennsylvania was an act of political violence. The left is embracing and utilizing political violence. No way around that. You can spin it all you want. I got a montage here from MSNBC about how they tried to pretend that maybe, just maybe, the guy that shot and killed an illegal yesterday outside a Dallas ICE facility wasn’t really a leftist. It’s comical. I don’t even want to stain the airwaves with that garbage from MSNBC. It’s all they got. It’s all they got. So the group of college kids began peppering Phil with questions about what we believe as conservatives and Republicans and what the Trump administration is doing. And Phil said the common theme from a lot of these, you know, wide-eyed young people is why can’t the right have more compassion with this mass deportation process? Why can’t Trump be more compassionate? Why can’t there be more empathy for a family of five from Venezuela who has been rounded up and shipped back to Venezuela? The optics of it all is what these kids kept talking about. And it’s a fair question. I mean, the problem with even entertaining the question though is that I don’t want you to think that any of us believe that political violence and terrorism should result in a policy change. There will be no policy change. The Trump administration isn’t going to say, well, yeah, you know, the left is mad at the mass deportations, so we’re going to stop doing it. No, no, it’s not going to work that way. In fact, the political violence, these acts of terrorism will probably compel the Trump administration to double down. Just like Charlie’s murder is leading people to go to churches. And we’re having a nationwide revival. And many people are being drawn to Christ and to God in a way that they hadn’t prior to that young Charlie Kirk being our colleague and our friend being assassinated on a college campus in Utah. You see, the political terrorism that the 22-year-old in Utah attempted, while horrific for this country, is also a way to show some clarity. It’s also backfiring. It’s also resulting in unintended consequences. And these are consequences for the left because they don’t want people to go to church. They don’t want people to be unified. They don’t want people to find peace. That’s the antithesis of political violence and political terrorism. So let’s look at whether we can find common ground. I have a wide circle of people in my life, and I’ve got plenty of people in my life who don’t agree with me politically. I don’t hate them for that. Some of them hate me for that. And it hurts my heart because a lot of them know me. They know what kind of person I am. They know that I don’t like us to be butting heads all the time. I was married to a Democrat. And I miss Denise every day. And I don’t know if there can be common ground today with people on the left. Often when somebody calls the show to disagree with me, it goes off the rails. And I hate that. I hate that. The caller is typically defensive. The caller is always ready to interrupt everything I say. It’s like watching Scott Jennings on CNN. They don’t let him get five words out before they all gang up on him. Well, that’s what happens a lot of times with a caller who wants to disagree with me. So when a caller comes along that wants to disagree with me and it goes well, I treasure that moment. I relish that. And yesterday, the caller’s name was Law. And I liked the exchange with him so much that I wanted to play it for you again, especially in case you missed it. Here’s Law in Springfield, Missouri on the Mike Gallagher Show. Hi, Law. How are you?
SPEAKER 03 :
Mike, are you there?
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m right here. How are you?
SPEAKER 03 :
Hey, thanks for having me on your show. You bet. I’m a first-time listener to your show, and I keep changing the stations, and all I hear is this mean vitriol from everybody, and everyone’s taking a side. I wish you would have watched Jimmy Kimmel last night because it was very touching. Did he apologize? Well, we do need to come. I’m sorry? Did he apologize? Absolutely. No, he said if anybody. That’s not true. Yes, he did. If anybody misconstrued my remarks, I apologize.
SPEAKER 04 :
Here’s what I want to do here. And I want to well, first of all, I want to welcome you because I appreciate very much you calling. I always love the respectful dialogue. I welcome you to the show. You’re a first-time listener. But do you understand that either you’re lying intentionally when you said he used the words, I apologize, or you don’t know any better? He did not apologize, Law. He absolutely did not. So why are you saying he did? It would have been easy. If he apologized… I’m right there with you. If he was able to say, I apologize. Two little words. I’m sorry. I apologize. I shouldn’t have said that the guy was MAGA. Because you know he said the guy was MAGA when he wasn’t. And he knew better. All he had to do was say, I’m sorry. And he couldn’t do that, Law. Why is that?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yes, he could. You could. All right. Maybe he didn’t say the actual word of Paul. I’d have to rewatch it. And the attention that I got, the guy was crying. Oh, was he crying? Talking about Charlie Kirk and how it was misconstrued. And all he said. He misconstrued it. He misconstrued it, Law. He said the guy was anything but their own. That’s all he said.
SPEAKER 04 :
He said MAGA spent the whole weekend trying to pretend he wasn’t one of their own. That’s what he said, Law. Come on, we’ve got to go at these things with truth and with facts. You can’t make stuff up, sir. It is the truth. I just told you exactly what he said.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right, that he was one of us, MAGA. And that was a lie. And so now, and let’s talk about the ramification. It’s not a lie. It is a lie. It was an absolute.
SPEAKER 04 :
All right. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. I got a hard break, but I don’t want to lose you. Don’t go away, okay? You want to hang in? All right. All right. So we did have a break like we have one now, but I want you to hear the continuation of my call yesterday with law because it was good. It was positive. It was productive. And I want to share it with you because it gets better. It really does. It kind of started out a little bumpy. But it actually got to a good place, and I want to share the rest of that with you.
