In this enlightening episode, Mike Gallagher tackles the political upheavals that recently took place in America. The episode revolves around the compelling article by Kevin McCullough, ‘The Night America Chose Chaos Over Clarity,’ which critiques the election results and discusses the radical shifts within the political landscape. Through the lens of biblical prophecy and contemporary political theory, Gallagher invokes listeners to consider the moral and ethical state of the nation and posits that this is a time for courage, clarity, and faithfulness. Gallagher doesn’t shy away from addressing controversial topics such as the implications of Zoran Mamdani’s rise to

I want to start every hour today with citing his column at townhall.com entitled, The Night America Chose Chaos Over Clarity. We’ve got the article posted at mikeonline.com, but I want to read a little bit of it to you. I want to start every hour with citing this column. Kevin writes, the verdict is in and it’s ugly. Democrats didn’t just win, they ran the table. But these are not your mom-and-pop Democrats. Those were blue-collar workers who believed in God, family, and the dignity of hard work. No, last night’s victors are the radical heirs of a political faith that worships grievance, deconstruction, and power at all costs. As we know now, as we take to the airwaves today, In New York, an Islamic radical who openly fantasizes about wiping Jews off the map, confiscating private property, and socializing groceries won by a majority of votes. Think about that, Kevin writes. In the greatest city in the world, a metropolis that once symbolized American aspiration and pluralism, a man who despises the very foundations of the republic now speaks about In Virginia, the story grows darker. The new chief law enforcement officer, tasked with defending the innocent and upholding justice, once mused about putting bullets in the brains of his political opponents, murdering their children, desecrating their graves. Yet he is now the face of justice in the old dominion. Of course, there’s California, the laboratory of leftist decay. Its voters passed a gerrymandering plan that will lock in one-party rule, crippling its already failing economy and accelerating the great mass exodus. But here’s the part of Kevin’s column that rings true that I want to scream from the mountaintops. He says if you squint hard enough, it almost feels biblical. And that’s because it is. This is biblical. The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy about a time when people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive. Sound familiar? We’re here. We’re living in that time. A moment when the moral compass is so inverted that people celebrate what destroys them and mock what could save them. But Kevin says, look, what do we do now? As tempting as it is to feel despair, believers don’t get to surrender. We don’t get to pack up and retreat to the hills. This moment, this heartbreaking, gut-wrenching moment is when real courage is born. God doesn’t call us to win elections. He calls us to be faithful witnesses. To hold fast the line of truth, even when the votes go the other way. So what now? We remember what is eternal. We re-anchor our lives. And we preach. Kevin said, tonight, do not curse the darkness. Light a match. Don’t wring your hands. Fold them in prayer. Don’t rage at your neighbor. Invite them to know the one who still redeems broken people and nations alike. Because one day, the ballots won’t matter. The headlines will fade. But the truth will remain. And when it does, may it be said of us that when our culture lost its mind, and yes, it feels like it has, we didn’t lose our mission. Our challenge, Kevin McCullough at townhall.com writes, When a nation forgets God, remember him all the more. When truth is mocked, speak it louder. And when darkness wins the night, live so brightly that morning has no choice but to rise. Rise. I think that’s a perfect analysis, and I so appreciate Kevin McCullough out of New York, who it has just been announced is about to take over one of the network shows, one of the slots here at Salem Media, and we’re very happy for him. He’ll be right at home. Townhall.com, Kevin McCullough, author of The Night America Chose Chaos, over clarity. So here we are. We do what we always do. A lot of shows will line up a bunch of talking heads and authors and politicians. You know who I want to line up? You. 1-800-655-MIKE. We got a lot to discuss. We have a lot to unpack. President Trump is doubling down on saying it’s time for the filibuster to go. And I must tell you, I’m starting to think he’s right. I’m not a fan of eliminating the filibuster, but maybe he’s right. Did you see Mamdani’s speech last night? Good Lord. Good Lord. It’s like the Joker in a Batman movie won the mayor’s race in Gotham City. The Joker just took over Gotham. There was no smile last night. That guy at that podium behind the Zoran logo? that looked like some high school kid drew it on a sandwich board with the cheap New York City skyline and the big bold Zoran letters. Oh, there was no laughing. There was no smiling. There was no warmth. That was an act. The guy’s true colors came out last night raging against Trump and daring Trump To go through him. Okay. All right, kid from Uganda. Get out the popcorn. Because you want to take on the king? You better not miss. A lot to break down today. 800-655-MIKE. That’s the number to put you in touch with us because I want to hear what Americans are feeling, thinking, what’s in your heart, what’s in your head. We’re in the Relief Factor studios for this Wednesday, November the 5th. Now, yes, it was a shellacking. Yes, it was a thumping, whatever word you want to call, use to describe it. Let’s acknowledge Democrats won in Democrat cities and states. Democrats won. Republicans didn’t upset any of the Democrats in big blue cities and states. So be it. So be it. But you can put down the smelling salts and the paper bags because it isn’t necessary.

I walked into the studio today and glanced up at the MyPillow text line. Got a text from Columbus, Ohio. Remember the comic strip Pogo? Remember the line, we have met the enemy and he is us? Wow, the enemy from within. What a night, huh? Democrats are happy. At least the far-left Democrats are happy. I don’t think mainstream Democrats are too happy at all. In fact, I spoke to a couple of them after the big wins for Democrats in places like New York and Virginia. Mainstream Democrats are terrified because they see the future. under the new face of today’s Democrat Party, Zoran Mamdani. Did you see his speech last night? I settled in. I thought, well, let’s watch his victory speech. Let’s see what he has to say, because he smiles a lot, right? He wasn’t smiling last night. Now that he won, the veil has been lifted. This guy was snarling about taking on Trump. This guy was shrieking about the million Muslims in New York City. And it was almost as if the accusation that he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing came to fruition. Check out a little bit of Zoran’s victory speech last night in New York City.
SPEAKER 04 :
If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him. And if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power. This is not only how we stop Trump, it’s how we stop the next one. So Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you. Turn the volume up. We will hold bad landlords to account because the Donald Trumps of our city have grown far too comfortable taking advantage of their tenants. We will put an end to the culture of corruption that has allowed billionaires like Trump to evade taxation and exploit tax breaks. We will stand alongside unions and expand labor protections because we know Just as Donald Trump does. That when working people have ironclad rights, the bosses who seek to extort them become very small indeed.
SPEAKER 03 :
Wow, where’d the smile go? Where’s the funny TikTok videos of him frolicking in the water and dancing? Wasn’t a lot of smiles last night. Just a lot of anger and rage. Hey, good luck, New York. You’re going to own it now. And good luck, Democrat Party, because he’s your guy. The Ugandan communist is now the mayor of New York City. Now, look, let’s put it in perspective. You know, I think the Mamdani mayoral race is the one worth talking about. As a talk show host, that’s the one that I find most compelling, because let’s face it, everybody likes Mamdani. a villain. This is like a chapter right out of a Batman movie where the Joker just got elected mayor. The other races, look, Democrats won in Democrat cities. Democrats won in blue states. The big upset would have been for any Republican to have won. You got to make sure you keep that in perspective. And make no mistake, there’s been a lot of damage done to the Democrat brand. Here’s what Scott Jennings pointed out last night on CNN.
SPEAKER 10 :
These are blue states, and Democrats were supposed to win. So I wouldn’t overread it. Virginia in particular has never been a great bellwether. I don’t think a lot of folks had a lot of confidence in the Virginia campaign that was run on the Republican side. And New Jersey is New Jersey, so… I would hesitate to overread it. I don’t think the concerns you raised are illegitimate political strategy concerns. You know, I think I just want to offer condolences to Chuck Schumer. Honestly, what I’m reading here in New York City is that AOC is going to be the next senator from New York after she gets done whooping Israel in the 2028 Democratic primary and for his Senate races in 2026. I see the energy in the Democratic Party tonight behind a socialist, and I see the energy in Virginia. Democrats looking the other way on a violent candidate for attorney general who says he wants to murder Republicans and their children. If you think you’re getting rid of Graham Platner in Maine now, think again. This is a terrible night for national Democratic image, given what is happening inside their party. Mamdani is an avowed socialist. It’s not what people say that he is. It’s what he says that he is. He’s now the leader of their party.
SPEAKER 03 :
I can’t wait to thank Scott in person this weekend for his clarity. I’m going to be in Chicago for the big Freedom Summit, and what perfect timing. You’re going to need that kind of clarity more than ever. I’ll be on stage with Dr. Ben Carson, with Salem’s own Scott Jennings, who you just heard from that CNN clip, Dan Proft, and Sean Thompson. I was on Sean’s show last night talking about the event this Saturday in Chicagoland. We’re going to be at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca for tickets, and there are a few left. Go to 560theanswered.com, 560theanswered.com, and I’m looking forward to seeing you in person this Saturday at the big Freedom Summit. And speaking of my colleagues, I’ve got a column in front of me that my colleague Kevin McCullough wrote at townhall.com that is the most important column or analysis about last night you’ll hear. you’re going to appreciate the crystal clear way Kevin breaks this thing down. Because as he writes, if this feels biblical, it’s because it is. And his answer in this column is the only answer. It’s all that matters, and I’ll share with you Kevin’s terrific piece called The Night America Chose Chaos Over Clarity. It’s brilliantly stated, and it’s important, and I’ll share that with you in just a moment or two.

Infuriating to listen to this kid from Uganda attack, what did he call them, builders like Trump? I wanted to hear what he said. I was trying to cue it up and listen again to what he said about really attacking a capitalist, a builder, a guy who helped build the New York City skyline. I’m not sure what Zoran ever built in his life. All I know is he turned into a snarling, angry, rage-filled guy. It’s like the mask came off. And even folks like Van Jones over on CNN. seemed rattled by the real ugliness of Mamdani’s victory speech last night. It’s almost as if even Van Jones was willing to admit, wow, all the accusations that this guy is a wolf in sheep’s clothing were true. I mean, where was the smiling? Where was the warmth, the humor? Check out Van Jones on CNN.
SPEAKER 01 :
I think the Mamdani that we saw on the campaign trail, who was a lot more calm, who was a lot warmer, who was a lot more embracing, was not present in that speech. And I think that Mamdani is the one you need to hear from tonight. There are a lot of people trying to figure out, can I get on this train with him or not? Is he going to include me? Is he going to be more of a class warrior, even in office?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, well, here’s the newsflash. Is he going to betray you? What do you think he just said to more than half the country? Because he thinks that Trump betrayed America? Well, that’s news to the voters who overwhelmingly elected him, who blew your fellow Democrat out of the water by taking every swing state, winning the popular vote, the Electoral College. Yeah, that would be news to many Americans that Trump somehow betrayed our country. Look, rail away, Zoran. You knock yourself out. And New Yorkers, got a quick message from a Floridian. We’re all filled up here in Florida. You don’t need to bother. We’ve got big mosquitoes and alligators and hurricanes everywhere. We’re having a hurricane every day down here. Every day. It’s crazy. Like, we never thought there would be daily hurricanes. There’s hurricanes every day here. You don’t want to come here as you flee New York because an actual Islamist communist won the mayoral race last night. It’s hard to believe that we’re even saying this. As you’re nervously figuring out where you’re going to flee to, we’re all filled up here. Don’t come to Florida, please. I think you should check out Portland, Oregon. It’s a great town. Seattle. Seattle’s very lovely this time of year. Go to Seattle. You do not need… to come to Florida. And of course, I’ve got friends lining up from South Carolina, from Texas. They’re all saying the same thing. No, no, no, no. Don’t come here. Don’t come to Texas. My friends in South Carolina say, no, no, no. We’re all filled up here. No, please. South Carolina, the same thing. They’ve got all kinds of Those mountains, it really gets tedious to see the beauty of the green, the foothills and the trees. The people are too friendly in South Carolina. It’s annoying. Cost of living is really too low. You want to spend more money on things. It’s just not a good place. Don’t go to South Carolina. It’s awful. You’ll be happier in Portland, Oregon. Oh, boy. All right, let’s go. 800-655-MIKE. 800-655-6453. Here’s Al in Dearborn, Michigan. Al, welcome aboard. You know a little bit about Muslim leadership in your city, don’t you?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, they’re great people. I’m not going to knock Muslims for a minute. I carpooled with one for a while, and even right after 9-11, we had some great conversations about things. You bet. I didn’t call about that, though, Mike. I want to call about what really plagues our country. It’s idolatry. We want to be God. It has been with us since the Garden of Eden. Even before that, the rebellion of the angels against God in heaven. But in the Garden of Eden, we paid a heavy price for it. And we see it in just about every issue today, from the attitude toward the Constitution. It’s a living document that we can make say anything we want to say, from the attitude about sanctuary cities and so forth, The law doesn’t apply to us, me and my tribe. We’re better than that. We’re smarter and holier than the rest of you. We’re smarter and holier than God. We are the moral and intellectual supremacists of this country.
SPEAKER 03 :
Al, you’ve got to hear this column from Kevin McCullough. It’s going to be right up your alley. I promise I’m going to read it next. You’ve got to hear his words. The night America chose chaos over clarity. Now, it sounds like a bleak article. It’s not bleak. It’s uplifting, and it speaks just to what you just said. It speaks right to your point about how we are failing and falling. And the good news is we know how this ends. And the good guys win, you know? A lot of bad people won last night. Make no mistake about it. Jay Jones is a bad guy. You’re fantasizing about putting bullets in the heads of your political opponent? That’s a bad person. And now he’s the chief law enforcement officer of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Let that sink in, okay? That’s okay, because goodness will prevail. And when you hear the words of Kevin McCullough over at townhall.com, who has just been revealed to be one of our latest network hosts in Salem Media, replacing the departing Eric Metaxas, You’re going to want to hear what Kevin had to say and why he was picked for this important slot on many of our Christian teaching and talk stations. Just a brilliant assessment. And I’ll just give you a little tease where he writes, The truth is, Don’t curse the darkness. Light a match. Don’t wring your hands. Fold them in prayer. Don’t rage at your neighbor. Invite them to know the one who still redeems broken people and nations alike. I’m going to share with you this tremendous article from Kevin in just a moment. SPEAKER 06 :
Here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 03 :
Somebody just posted on social media. I’m scrolling through X. There’s some breaking news we’ve got to share with you in just a moment. But here’s one comment. The real Mom Donnie, the one we saw in all those videos spitting on the NYPD. making himself the victim after 9-11, supporting every failed socialist party, and hating Israel, was back on display last night in that victory speech. The smiling, affable candidate thing was all an act. Oh, it really was. You want to get a little taste of this? Because to me, look, this is the most intriguing aspect of last night. That New Yorkers rejected the disgraced ex-governor, who at least was part of the Democrat, traditional Democrat machine, the Democrat establishment, Cuomo. And they turned to this guy. The guy who was just fun and warm and smiling. No smiles last night.
SPEAKER 04 :
Where the more than one million Muslims know that they belong. Not just in the five boroughs of this city, but in the halls of power. No more will New York be a city where you can traffic in Islamophobia and win an election.
SPEAKER 06 :
Breaking now on the Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, look at this. The Democrat leaders are now calling for a meeting with President Trump to end the government shutdown. No! You mean the Democrat shutdown? was just a ruse to try to boost the election last night for the Democrats? Say it isn’t so. Now that the election is over, now Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, they’re moving now. Now they’re doing it. Let me tell you something. There better not be one damn dime for illegal immigrant health care. No funds for NPR. And while we’re on the subject, maybe no federal funding for New York City. How do you feel about your tax dollars going into New York City to fund Zoran Mamdani’s agenda? You want to pick a fight with Donald Trump, Mayor Mamdani? You go right ahead. The political battlefield is lined and littered with the bodies of people who tried to take on Donald Trump. You go right ahead, Zoran. You talk tough, this kid from Uganda. You talk, you strut around up there on that podium and rage and carry on. Attack Trump, the guy who helped build the New York skyline. And you hate him for that. The guy who’s employed thousands and thousands and thousands of workers, you hate him for that. You go ahead and you take him on. It’s important not to fall to despair. And I’ve got to share with you this brilliant column from Kevin McCullough. Kevin wrote at Town Hall, The verdict is in. It’s ugly. Democrats didn’t just win. They ran the table last night. And these aren’t your mom and pop Democrats. Oh, no. These aren’t blue-collar workers who believed in God, family, and the dignity of hard work. Look, my parents, if I can digress from Kevin’s column for a moment, were blue-dog Democrats. Irish and Lithuanian products of legal immigrants. who were Kennedy Democrats, they wouldn’t recognize the radicalization of their party. Kevin writes, in New York City, an Islamic radical who openly fantasizes about wiping Jews off the map, confiscating private property and socializing groceries, won by a majority of votes. Think about that. In the greatest city in the world, Kevin says, a metropolis that once symbolized American aspiration and pluralism, a man who despises the very foundations of the republic, now speaks for its citizens. Over in Virginia, the story gets darker. The new chief law enforcement officer once mused online about putting bullets in the brains of his political opponents, murdering their kids. urinating on their graves. That’s Jay Jones. Now he’s the face of justice in Virginia. California, the laboratory of leftist decay. The voters there passed a gerrymandering plan that will lock in one-party rule, cripple its already failing economy, and accelerate the great exodus of normal, sane Americans fleeing America. Kevin McCullough writes, If you squint hard enough, Kevin writes, it almost feels biblical. And you know why? It’s because it is. This is biblical. The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy about a time when people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Sound familiar? It’s because we’re living in that precise time right now. A moment when the moral compass is so inverted that people celebrate what destroys them. They mock what could save them. They don’t choose love or justice. They embrace hatred, chaos, bondage, violence. But here’s the good news. Paul didn’t just diagnose the darkness. He offered a prescription, a solution. He told Timothy, remember the truth, the real truth, not the shifting social media approved nonsense of the day. Kevin writes, as tempting as despair feels, believers don’t get to surrender. We don’t get to pack up and retreat to the hills. This moment is when real courage is born. God doesn’t call us to win elections. He calls us to be faithful witnesses, to hold fast in the line of truth, even when the votes don’t go our way. What do we do now? Kevin McCullough, in this brilliant analysis at Town Hall, says, we remember what is eternal. We re-anchor our lives and families in the only foundation that cannot be shaken, ever, ever. Tonight, he said, don’t curse the darkness. The truth here is simple. America isn’t suffering from bad politics anymore. We’re suffering from bad theology. We’ve traded in the author of truth for the authors of confusion. That’s Zoran Mamdani. It’s confusing to see this guy last night on that podium raging and spittle flying out of his mouth and just filled with contempt for anybody who sees the world differently than he does. He was smiling. He always smiled. He was such a nice guy. Yes, policies were kind of kooky, but, you know, he probably would try to unify, right? It’s confusing. We’ve chosen in America, as Kevin writes, to call evil good and good evil. And the ballots simply reflected that choice. But today, don’t wring your hands. Fold them in prayer. Don’t rage at your neighbor. Invite them to know the one who still redeems broken people and nations alike. Because one day, the ballots won’t matter. The headlines will fade, but truth will remain. And when it does, may it be said of us that when our culture lost its mind, we didn’t lose our mission. Kevin concludes by writing, that is our profound observation and our challenge, that when a nation forgets God, remember him all the more. When truth is mocked, speak it louder. And when darkness wins the night, live so brightly that morning has no choice but to rise. I’m so grateful that my colleague Tom Tradup sent me this townhall.com piece by Kevin McCullough before the show today. I want to read it a lot.
