Local SEO Quick Wins: 7 Actions You Can Do Today (Under 2 Hours)
KLZ Started providing premium digital marketing assistance for clients a while back, and it really does blow my mind the amount of simple things that you can do TODAY without spending a penny that will help your business rank, generate leads, and create opportunity.
The funny thing is though, you can’t find that info anywhere, it’s like companies are hoarding it. Well, no more. Yes, we offer more help above these steps at KLZ Radio, and we’d love to help your business grow, but not all businesses have the capital right away to do that, so we’ll be posting these weekly tips (hint…subscribe to the RSS so you don’t miss anything).
Hopefully these little tidbits will help you start to understand the importance of a solid digital strategy to follow your radio advertising strategy.
So please enjoy this quick writeup about Local SEO, and some things you can do in the next 2 hours that will help your business to be more visible online. We’ll be posting one of these tips per week, since we have so many great small businesses who listen. And if you’re ready to start scaling, send us an email and complete the form below.
Local SEO isn’t magic despite it feeling that way—it’s clarity plus consistency. Do the basics right and you’ll show up more, get more calls, and waste less time. Here are seven quick wins you can knock out in under two hours total to start on the path to being the first Google result.
Pick three for today, finish the rest this week. (hint…set a reminder)

1) Claim & Clean Your Google Business Profile
- Visit google.com/business and claim/verify your listing.
- Fill every field: categories, services, description (add benefits + locations served), hours, phone, website, booking URL if applicable.
- Add 5–10 recent photos (exterior sign, interior, team, product/service). Keep it real, not stocky. Google works better when you’re the REAL you.
2) Lock Your NAP Consistency (Name, Address, Phone)
Search your brand + address. Wherever you see an old phone number or address, fix it. Consistency is a ranking signal.
- Website footer & contact page
- Google Business Profile
- Facebook, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Places
3) Start a Simple Reviews Flywheel
Happy customers won’t always review unless you ask—kindly and consistently.
Ask Script (SMS)
Send within 24 hours of service:
“Thanks for choosing us! If we earned 5 stars, would you mind leaving a quick Google review? It really helps other locals find us: [short review link] —Thank you!”
Ask Script (Email)
Subject: Quick favor?
“Hi [First Name], thanks again for your business. A short Google review makes a big difference for us locally. Here’s the direct link: [review link]. Thank you!”
Create your direct review link from your Google Business Profile (Marketing → Get more reviews).
4) Build One High-Intent Service Page
Pick your most profitable service and create a focused page for it.
- Headline with outcome (“Same-Day Water Heater Replacement in [City]”).
- 3 proof points (licenses, years in business, warranties).
- 2–3 photos of your actual work.
- Pricing cue (starting at / typical range / free estimate).
- FAQ (5 questions you answer on the phone every week).
- Strong call-to-action (call + form). Place at top and bottom.
5) Add UTM Tracking to Your Top Buttons
Know what’s working. Add utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign to your key links. If you’re not sure how to create UTM links, here’s a good article that explains what UTMs are. Basically, you’re using links with special tags on them to tell google to track those specifically in Google Analytics 4. So, for instance you have a promo that originates on a link, you can tell google to track the number of clicks for that spot. If you’re not sure what Google Analytics 4 is, stay tuned. We’re doing a writeup for that as we speak, and it should shed some light on it.
UTM links look kind of like this:
https://klzradio.com/contact?utm_source=website&utm_medium=button&utm_campaign=header_cta — From this link, you can surmise when reading it in GA4, that it is a link from the website, it’s a button, and it’s in the campaign header. So, when you go back into GA4 to track the header campaign, you’ll have actionable, real data.
Check GA4 → Reports → Acquisition to see which CTAs drive form fills or calls.
6) Turn Calls Into Data (Fast)
Side note: If you’re not using a CRM System (customer relationship management system) like our CDMS business app to track your engagement with clients, stop what you’re doing and find one. This is the single most important digital tool in your box, and it’s real people, with real data, that can get you into real trouble if you don’t protect it.
Set up a single call-tracking number for your website so you can see which pages/ads drive calls. There is small cost to this if you go it alone. If you use KLZ’s services we can generate a VoIP line for you.
- Pick a reputable call-tracking provider.
- Swap the site phone number with a tracking number (dynamic swap if possible).
- Tag calls over 60 seconds as “qualified” to measure real leads.
7) Publish One Useful Post This Week (Not a Sales Pitch!)
Answer a problem you solve every day. Keep it short and helpful.
- Title: “How to [Solve Problem] in [City] Without Wasting Money.”
- 300–600 words, 1 image (your own), 3 steps, 1 CTA.
- Link to your new service page from step 4.
The Amplifier: Why On-Air Helps Search
People search what they hear. A simple, consistent on-air mention on KLZ 560AM creates branded searches, more clicks on your listing, and higher review volume—those are all positive signals for local SEO that will have a lasting effect on your business. Keep your message plainly stated: who you help, where you work, and the one offer you want people to remember.
What To Do Next (Pick One)
- DIY Today: Do items 1–3 above. Set a 45-minute timer.
- Level Up: Add tracking (5–6) and publish the post (7) this week.
- Premium: If you’d rather skip the learning curve, the digital team at STATION can manage listings, reviews, tracking, creative, and on-air—so you focus on serving customers.
