In this episode of Rush to Reason, host John Rush dives into the current dynamics within the GOP, discussing the state’s political landscapes and the challenges they pose. With insights from Andy Pate, the episode examines the ongoing debates and infighting within party ranks, shedding light on how these internal conflicts could affect upcoming elections. As they dissect social media’s role in political trolling and the battle lines drawn among potential candidates, listeners are prompted to consider what genuine unity and strategy might look like. Listeners are also treated to Dr. Scott Faulkner’s insights on innovative healthcare solutions, emphasizing
SPEAKER 13 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 16 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 04 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 16 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did!
SPEAKER 12 :
Get a job, Turk! You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same and there’s a big difference!
SPEAKER 08 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 12 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush, presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 11 :
And it’s that time, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Thanks for tuning in. We appreciate it very much. Andy Pate with me today. How’s Andy? Andy is doing well, sir. How are you? Always good. Always good. Can’t complain. And Charlie Grimes, of course, our engineer today. Yesterday’s impossible question, what pigment gives plants their green color?
SPEAKER 14 :
Chlorophyll.
SPEAKER 11 :
Chlorophyll. There you go.
SPEAKER 14 :
That was an easy one.
SPEAKER 11 :
Good answer. Today, what is the part of the cell that contains genetic material? What is the part of the cell that contains genetic material? That is the question of today.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, I know that one too, but I won’t say.
SPEAKER 11 :
I won’t either. That was pretty easy. So some of these I actually get occasionally.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 11 :
Not very often.
SPEAKER 14 :
No. Most of them are really too, you know, just… Pretty obscure. Pretty obscure, really. And most of them I just don’t know, but every now and then they come along that I know.
SPEAKER 11 :
Absolutely. All right. Today, we’ve got several things to discuss. One guest is all Andy and I are going to talk a little bit about what’s going on with, you know, the GOP in the state, of course, which we do from, you know, on a pretty routine basis because it’s important because we don’t get some things dialed in here on the state level. And there’s a lot of of and this is something Andy and I’ll get into. There’s a lot of how should I say this, Andy? Just stupid poking and nonsense when it comes to the governor race. It’s not even a primary yet. I mean, we haven’t even got that far yet. And just all of the utter nonsense from people that have their candidate and can’t stand any of the others. It’s absolutely mind-blowing, Andy.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, it really blows my mind because for all of you who are on Facebook a lot, And you want to just keep taking shots, taking pot shots, basically like trolls and trolling all the candidates you don’t like, especially Victor Marks. Why? Because he’s the leader right now. Right. And so you’ve got all these people who want to hate on Victor Marks. And then you got all these people who want to. keep putting out roboposts about how great Victor Marx is, right? And so you got one side roboposting and then the other side roboposting back. And everybody in the middle is just saying, hey, guys, can we vet these folks first? I mean, can we read up on them, see them in a speech or two? All we see are both sides totally mobilized to attack, attack, attack.
SPEAKER 11 :
It’s dumb.
SPEAKER 14 :
And it’s getting really annoying for us in the middle. We haven’t even… I mean, guys… We’ve hardly seen any ads. It’s way early. I mean, we’re eight months away from this even mattering.
SPEAKER 11 :
Exactly. So we’ll get into some of that probably even as we come back because it is an issue. And the infighting is happening on our side. And this is something that I always remind everybody of. Keep in mind that there are not only the folks in the middle, but all those people that are on the left. And all of the infighting that’s going on right now, no matter who the primary winner ends up being, and it will be somebody when it’s all said and done, everything that is said about that person, the left will then take and figure out whether it’s real or not, and then use that against said person. So all of you that are out there doing this, stop. For heaven’s sakes, you’re not helping our party.
SPEAKER 14 :
No, all you’re doing is providing opposition research for the Democrats.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re a bunch of knuckleheads. Stop.
SPEAKER 14 :
I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying you can’t be critical and say, well, okay, here’s a concern I have about this or that candidate.
SPEAKER 11 :
But that’s different than shooting darts.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, this is all-out war. This is all out war. Folks, it is not until the end of June that we even have the primary. Okay? It’s the end of June. And right now, they’re attacking them like it’s the end of the world.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yep. Okay. No, you’re right. Again, we’re going to come back and talk about some of that, encourage some of you to call in, ask questions, give us your feedback on this as well. We’ll be right back, though. Let’s do this. Dr. Scott Faulkner is up next, and he wants to take care of your health care, and I say it that way on purpose because most health care is actually crisis care. It’s not health care. Give Scott a call today, 303-663-6990.
SPEAKER 02 :
What if you could get over 110 lab biomarkers tested, just like Dr. Mark Hyman advertises, but for a fraction of the cost, and with a doctor who actually explains the results? At Castle Rock Regenerative Health, Dr. Scott Faulkner has recreated this powerful biomarker test panel at a substantial savings. For the month of November, we have a special price for both men and women. Just $689. That’s a savings of over $2,500 over the standard price. And here’s the difference. With Hyman, you get numbers on a page. With Castle Rock Regenerative Health, you get Dr. Faulkner and his team walking you through every result, showing what’s off and creating a personalized plan to fix it. What’s even better, you don’t even have to be a concierge patient to get this pricing. This is open to everyone. Think about it. Most people’s deductible is higher than this special price. And your regular doctor, if he could get approved by your insurance, would never order this many tests, let alone know what to do with them. Call 303-663-6990 today or visit CastleRockRegenerativeHealth.com. That’s 303-669-6990. Take control of your health at Castle Rock Regenerative Health.
SPEAKER 11 :
All right. And your roof matters. Rejuvenate it today. Make it last longer. In a lot of ways, it’ll save you money on insurance as well. Talk to Dave Hart. Figure out how that would affect you and your home and your roof and your policy. 303-710-6916.
SPEAKER 10 :
Were you concerned about potentially being dropped by your insurance? And how did RoofMax ease those concerns?
SPEAKER 03 :
I was kind of concerned that my insurance company that I had previously was going to either cancel me or increase my premium. When Dave came over and he said, Gil, he said, your roof looks good. I will give you a bid. And he said, I can give you a warranty of five years. And I said, whoa, that’s great.
SPEAKER 10 :
Would you recommend RoofMax to friends, family or neighbors and why?
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, because they were very prompt in getting the job done. They were very efficient in the time, maybe three days to four days max to get everything, paperwork, come and inspect my roof and complete the job. The price was very good. I was very impressed with the appearance of our roof after it was completed. So yes, absolutely, I would recommend RoofMax and especially Dave Hart.
SPEAKER 10 :

SPEAKER 04 :
God. Country. Now back to John Rush.
SPEAKER 14 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason. Dead First Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, John Rush, together with Andy Pate and Charlie Grimes, our producer, John. Let’s first start with a reality check, because I actually believe the biggest problem right now is not what we’re doing, but what we’re not doing. I’ll get to that in a bit, okay? But let’s have a little reality check. I believe the Democrats are far too numerous, unified, and diverse in their base to be defeated by a divided opposition. This is no one’s fault. It’s just math. Any division kills us.
SPEAKER 11 :
That’s right. We can’t lose any votes. It’s simply numbers.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, it’s just numbers. Okay? And so for the purists out there, and… Whoa, whoa, back up.
SPEAKER 11 :
For the purists? The people who say… You’re being too kind to them, by the way.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, well, I want to be kind right now.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re being kind.
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m trying to be kind.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re being kind.
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m putting on my happy face right now.
SPEAKER 11 :
You are being way too kind, Andy.
SPEAKER 14 :
I got smiley faces all over my shirt here. For the purists out there, look, I got to be honest, folks. Let’s say you have an issue, and I’m going to talk about this actually next Monday with Eli. Okay. when he’s on the show with me. We’re going to talk about single-issue voting, okay? And so purists are generally people who are really dedicated to one or two or three issues, right? When there are really 20 or 25 issues. If you say, I must have a candidate who agrees with me on this issue or I’m not going to support you. I’m going to drop out. Remember, Ron Hanks, okay, and I will blame him for doing this. When he lost the primary, what did he do? He said, because of abortion. I’m going to call on my supporters, and he had quite a few, to not support our candidate for the Senate.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay?
SPEAKER 11 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
So he caused us to lose worse than we would have. That’s an example of division. We don’t have the numbers. Republicans are, what, about 21% of the state? I mean, it’s something very low. Yeah, roughly some of that number, yeah.
SPEAKER 1 :
2021.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, and look, and Democrats are around, I think, 24%, 25%.
SPEAKER 11 :
I’m going to say about five points higher, roughly.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, about… It might be worse now. I’m not sure, but yeah. And then, of course, unaffiliateds are about half the state. So yeah, I would say that it’s probably more like about 23% to 28% or 22% to 28%. But anyway, look, we’re behind is the point. We can’t afford to lose anyone, John. So can we at least agree right up front, we can’t divide and win. We cannot divide our way to victory.
SPEAKER 11 :
No, nobody can, by the way. The Democrats can’t do that either, by the way, because, again, going back to the numbers we just gave you all, they can’t do it either. But they don’t divide. Thank you. They don’t. They have this figured out far better than we do. And some of you just take so much to heart, and that’s great. I understand and I appreciate that. You want your person to win, and I understand that. The majority of you, and I’m sorry to say this, but the majority of you have zero strategy in how you’re actually going to accomplish that. Oh, yes. You absolutely lack strategy at all whatsoever. You think because your guy believes in X or your guy stands for X or your guy is principled in X, you think because of that they’re going to win the state, and you are sorely mistaken.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, totally mistaken.
SPEAKER 11 :
That has nothing to do with winning, by the way. Right. Zero. Zero.
SPEAKER 14 :
And by the way, there are probably people hearing us right now thinking that we’re saying, you need moderate candidates, the ones who can reach more across the aisle. Now, by the way, there’s something to be said for that.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
But moderates can bomb out too.
SPEAKER 11 :
They can if they don’t have the right message and they don’t do things correctly. That’s exactly right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Exactly right. And we’ll get to that in just a bit. But before we even get to it, right now I’m just laying the groundwork. So first of all, we can’t divide our way to success. We can agree on that. Why? The other side’s too big. Right. Okay. Secondly… Would you agree that, I mean, are we as a party right now in Colorado committed to winning or to being right?
SPEAKER 11 :
You want my honest opinion? Neither. Well, what I mean is… In their minds, I guess maybe they’re committed to being right, but they’re surely wrong.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. For instance, you’ve got the Brit of people against the Rhino Watchers, the Davidians. And would you, you know, basically, for the most part, I would say the Brit of people are much more committed to winning than the Davidians. The Davidians aren’t committed to winning at all. They’re committed to power.
SPEAKER 11 :
Period.
SPEAKER 14 :
they’re committed to power within the party that’s it they want those checks rolling in that’s right when they are the candidate that’s right okay that’s all they care about that’s right because when you’re the candidate you have a group of people working with you and they make money and your consultants make money and this is what they want okay but the rhino watchers are absolutely not committed to winning at all they’re committed to in their mind i would say i’m going to be kind here to being right
SPEAKER 11 :
And dividing. And dividing. In the process, yes.
SPEAKER 14 :
They are absolutely committed to division.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 14 :
Now, you could say that the Brita people are dividing, too, because they’re lashing back. And it has gotten to that point. I mean, people are so angry at each other.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re correct.
SPEAKER 14 :
So here’s the big question. I’m just going to say something, John. We have at the end of every election cycle, which is 24 months, we have this big waging war about, OK, do we need more conservative candidates who put up a much more easy difference to see between us and the Democrat? Right. As Reagan used to say, no pale pastels, bright colors. OK, you must be clearly different from the Democrat. And by the way, he was right on that. All right. And some of our candidates have not looked nearly different enough from the candidate, from the Democrat. Or do we need more of a moderate who the people in the middle, that 50 percent, the unaffiliated can relate to much more. And so you have this battle. But here’s the big problem. This whole time leading up to the election season during the 24 months, while they are sniping at each other, as you said, they’re already attacking each other. How many of those people, those 50% in the middle, are they winning during this time?
SPEAKER 11 :
None.
SPEAKER 14 :
How many of those people in the middle, how many of those voters in the middle, are they convincing to believe in any conservative principles in that time?
SPEAKER 11 :
They’re repelling them. Right. Because they’re repulsive in what they’re doing.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. So let’s just take a step back here, and we can look at Dave Williams has now moved out of state.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Thank you, God.
SPEAKER 11 :
There is a God.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. There is a God. Now you have proof. But his followers are doing the exact same thing. And, folks, they are followers. It’s cult-like. Okay. I’m sorry. It’s just the way it is. They are attacking, attacking, attacking, attacking, attacking the Hope Sheppelmans of the world, right? Right. Who are they winning?
SPEAKER 11 :
None.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 11 :
None. Zero.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right. This is going to get into basically what I’m saying because right now it sounds like, well, Andy, you’re just saying how bad it is. Okay. I’m going to give you the basics of what we need to do going forward. And I call it 24. And I’ve talked about this before. Not 24 like the 2-4, but 20-4. 20 months, 4 months. Okay. OK, what do you do for the first 20 months and what do you do for the last four months? Because they’re very different. The last four months is election season, the first 20 months. Is before election season. Okay. Now, here’s what we’re doing right now. We’re spending basically 23 months attacking each other and then trying frantically in the last month to unite enough to win. Right. And by that point, you’re not going to unite anybody. And by the way, you’ve spent 23 months not winning anyone. You haven’t increased your numbers. You haven’t increased your ranks. See the problem?
SPEAKER 15 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. This is, and you’ve heard of seven habits of highly effective people.
SPEAKER 15 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. He always talks about the law of the harvest. Okay. And I’m going to, it’s some long speaking, but I’m going to paraphrase Stephen Covey here. He says, we cannot harvest in the fall what we do not plant, water, rake, and weed in the spring and summer. Planting and preparing the ground must come first. That’s the 20 months. Okay, so in the election season and on election night, we want to have the harvest, right? We want to bring in the harvest and get some wins. But we spend the entire election season, the first 20 months, harvesting. not watering not you see because and and what am i saying what is the field the field is the electorate it’s right out that window it’s called colorado and there are people driving around walking around going to school going to jobs whatever right and there are millions of them We are not persuading any of them in any way, shape, or form to feel more our way on issues. We’re not. In fact, as you said earlier, we’re driving them away. With our division shooting at each other inside our tent, no one wants to come into the tent. I mean, John, if you were to, let’s say you were invited over to, it’s not your family, it’s somebody else’s family, but you’re invited over for a party, whatever. Yeah. and I don’t know, kid’s birthday, whatever, and you walk in and you see them sniping at each other, what do you want to do?
SPEAKER 11 :
Leave.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah! Okay, well, that’s our party right now.
SPEAKER 11 :
Leave. Nobody wants to be involved in that.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, right now, half the state is John Rush walking into that house.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 14 :
That is not going to work. And what we are doing, we’re not winning. So here’s the big thing. We spend the first 20 months winning nobody, persuading nobody. And then in the last four months, we hate on each other for choosing too moderate or too conservative a candidate. And when the truth is, they’re both going to lose. When you get too conservative of a candidate, how can you have a hardline, deep red, conservative candidate in a state where you haven’t won anybody? Where you haven’t persuaded. So you’ve done absolutely none of the work to persuade the voters to like your candidate, to like your heart, your Scott Bottoms candidate. OK, let’s say you’re a Scott Bottoms supporter.
SPEAKER 11 :
And by the way, I like I like Scott. I love him. Scott and I align on probably everything there is out there. There might be an exception here or there, but all in all, you know, we’re very similar. And that’s the problem.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 11 :
I’m unelectable as well.
SPEAKER 14 :
Exactly. Oh, the reason I picked Scott Bottoms is he is very close to my views. I like Scott Bottoms. Scott Bottoms can’t win. And it’s not his fault. The fault is all of us. So all of you Scott Bottoms supporters who are sniping at Victor Marks and all these other candidates, guys, are you creating a statewide setting Because he’s in a deep red district, okay, right now, which doesn’t reflect the state. Are you creating a statewide setting? We are in the 20 months right now where Scott Bottoms could win. No, you are not. But we… No, you’re not. Well, what about… No, you’re not. Just no, you’re not. I know. You guys are guaranteeing that if he were the candidate, he would lose. Right. Correct. By your own actions. Correct. And by the way, if you look at the other end of the spectrum in the party… You’ve got just a couple moderate candidates, right? Guess what? What are they doing to prepare the base to embrace their candidate to follow them into battle? Nothing. Unfortunately… They’re attacking the Scott Bottoms types.
SPEAKER 11 :
Go ahead. Yeah, and unfortunately, even the Victor Marks folks, which I have nothing against anybody at this point. I’m looking at all aspects of things. And again, do I think he has any kind of a chance, depending upon how things move forward? Possibly. But he’s got to run the right campaign as well and be handling some of the things that we’re even talking about right now in the correct manner as well. Now, in his defense, he’s got a ton of mud being slung at him by people that, frankly, are themselves – Political grifters, the Darcy, Shanning, Shonings, whatever, however you say your last name. I mean, Darcy, if you’re listening, you need to leave town. You just need to go away. You are a political grifter in Colorado that’s done nothing but corrupt what we have going on here, and you are a scourge upon politics in this state, and you need to go bye-bye. I’m saying that openly because you do. You’re awful for this state.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, I’m talking about uniting the body during the 20 months. You can’t do that with a cancer. A cancer is never going to be a positive thing.
SPEAKER 11 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 14 :
And at this point, Darcy, with what she’s doing, and we’ll talk about it later in the show, you’ve got a great post from her. She is saying flat out, I’m going to be a cancer. Here is how.
SPEAKER 15 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, I can’t work with a cancer, okay? I can get the arm and the leg and the feet and the brain and all parts of the body work together. A cancer is not part of the body. It’s invading it to disrupt and hurt and attack.
SPEAKER 11 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 14 :
Bottom line, here’s the thing. We’ve got the moderates against the conservatives, which you always have in the Republican Party, right? Right. But because they’re not committed to winning, they’re committed to being right. They’re spending 20 months doing absolutely nothing to till the field. and raise up more right-leaning voters in Colorado so we can win. They’re doing none of that. They’re waiting until the last four months and then attacking each other and saying, you’re too conservative, you’re too moderate, you’re a rhino, well, you’re a wacko.
SPEAKER 11 :
And all the while, all of you listening, literally giving ad copy for the other side.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, oppo research.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re literally doing their job for them. Stop doing that.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right.
SPEAKER 11 :
So all of the Darcy’s of the world that are out there doing these things, stop for heaven’s sakes. You’re not helping at all. You’re making it worse. I wonder at times, Andy, I’m going to say this publicly because I mean this. Are those folks really on our side? I mean, they act like they are, but honestly, they’re really not on our side. And again, these are people, folks, and I’ve pointed this out and I’ll continue to do so. These are people that, in my opinion, are really new to the state. They’re nowhere close to being a native. In some cases, they haven’t even been here a decade, and yet they’re trying to shape politics in the Republican Party in Colorado. These are grifters that somehow showed up on scene, that have somehow made a name for themselves, that are literally screwing things up in the process. You have to wonder, are they Democrat plants?
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, the way they made a name for themselves is they looked at the Republican Party and they decided, which part of this party could I quickly gain popularity with? And they decided it’s going to be the rage folks. The people who are driven by rage, all I have to do is play to their rage.
SPEAKER 11 :
True. Good point, Andy.
SPEAKER 14 :
And so they play to their rage and immediately have overnight popularity. But they haven’t built anything. They haven’t won any voters. They haven’t done anything for our party. OK. And they have, by the way, absolutely no loyalty to the party.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
They don’t care about the party.
SPEAKER 11 :
Not at all. You know, in fact, once again, Ron Hanks is one of them.
SPEAKER 14 :
And what did he do? He literally pulled votes from our candidate when he didn’t win the primary. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 11 :
No, and in fact, like I said earlier, and I’ll stand on this, these individuals would have to prove to me you’re really a conservative because at the end of the day, from all of your actions, you look like a Democrat plant.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 11 :
You totally do. Like you’re working for the other side.
SPEAKER 14 :
You know, and people don’t understand that because they’ll say, oh, but they stand for this and this and this.
SPEAKER 11 :
Actors do all sorts of things that way, Andy. John, who raised me? The left.
SPEAKER 14 :
I was raised by the hard left. So let me tell you this. Here’s a message to all of you from the hard left. They train people to do that. Now, I’m not saying all of these people are leftists in sheep’s clothing. I don’t know. I don’t know them personally. But I will say this. A lot of what they did. You know, not just the Darcy’s and the Dave’s, but just a bunch of them on their side. A lot of what they do, the left trains people to do. They train them in all the grassroots kind of talk. Right. All the kind of Tea Party talk, all that rhetoric. They train them and then they put them among you and they have you rise up and attack the Republican Party.
SPEAKER 1 :
Mm hmm.
SPEAKER 11 :
Good way of saying it. That’s a great segue. We’ll come back. We’ve got more to say on this because it’s a problem. If we don’t get this cured, folks, we don’t have a chance of winning dog catcher in this state, and I mean that sincerely. Veteran Windows and Doors is up next. They’ll take care of your windows and doors at a fraction of the price of their competitors because it’s direct to you, to your home, the installation and all. Talk to Dave today. Find him by going to klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 12 :
When you invest in new windows and doors for your home, choose the company that educates you and gives you honest, fair pricing. Veteran Windows and Doors. At Veteran, the goal isn’t to close the sale. It’s to make sure you’re fully educated on what you’re buying. SPEAKER 04 :
The best export we have is common sense. You’re listening to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 11 :
And we are back, Rush to Reason, Debra’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Payton. Yes, I know, there are times, somewhat weekly, where we talk about the GOP here in Colorado, what’s going on, and the facets of it. I said this yesterday, but I’ll say it again today, because the same people that we are talking about, Andy and I are talking about, when there was literally a meeting, I don’t know, A year or so ago, I want to say, roughly. Okay. maybe a little over a year ago that was planned by the opposition to the Davidians where they wanted to have a meeting, talk about Dave, you know, what was going on, all of that. And everybody on the Davidian side, you know, cried foul. You can’t do this. That’s not according to the, to the bylaws, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So in turn, what’s happening right now is those same individuals don’t like what Brit is doing and are calling the exact same meeting in the exact same way that the opposition did then. And yet they’re, and they’re going to say this time around that, Oh, it’s all good. Now,
SPEAKER 14 :
Because they have no standards whatsoever. Their only standard is power.
SPEAKER 11 :
There’s no scruples whatsoever. They literally are seeking power. And by the way, just as a side note, power inside of a party that until you get some things dialed in has no influence in this state whatsoever. So really, at the end of the day, what power do they even have, Andy?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, if we don’t turn the GOP into a force that can actually win, all you’re doing is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
SPEAKER 11 :
But I guess they like being the captain of the Titanic, Andy.
SPEAKER 14 :
They do. They do. They want the biggest paycheck before you go under.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, okay. I mean, it’s crazy. You’re right about that. No, it’s a money thing as well. No, I stand corrected. You are so right in what you’re saying because a lot of folks don’t realize that there is payola. in all of this in various ways it’s not even in some cases a direct check from the gop but there’s other ways with that power and that influence that these folks end up getting you know money filtered into their coffers and and it’s in all sorts of of ways and i won’t get into every single detail but let’s just say this that yes as they you know move up that rungs those ladder rungs if you would andy higher and higher up and they gain more and more you know power and notoriety the more money comes in right that’s exactly the way it works
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, and it’s hilarious. And once again, you should see them at the meetings, at the SEC meetings, preying on the rage of the mob. And they do. You’ll have the Westenheimers and these kinds of guys go out there who are better speakers, who are able to put together an argument. But they’re only going to give one side of the argument, but they know they can play to the rage of the crowd, and they know they’ve got more than… At that meeting, they had 60% of the crowd, no matter what. So they played to the rage, and it worked. Okay. John, you can’t unite a party that way and win.
SPEAKER 11 :
No.
SPEAKER 14 :
There is absolutely… No way. Let me put it another way. I absolutely, 100 million percent guarantee that if the Rhino Watch Davidians run things, we will get the worst result.
SPEAKER 11 :
Mm-hmm. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 14 :
They make the party as unlikable as possible outside the base.
SPEAKER 11 :
Andy, they make it inept.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, they do.
SPEAKER 11 :
I don’t know how else to say it. Literally, they make the party inept. That’s the only way to say it. You can’t sell rage. No, and they do their very best to try to do so. And to Andy’s point, it’s not working. It’s never going to work. At the end of the day, it’s an utter disaster.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. Well, anyway… Back to what we can do, okay? And this is what I’ll just say it. I think Bretta Horne should do, okay, and her team as well as they can because they got a real problem here because of the caucus process right now. At least 50 or more percent of the state central committee is Davidians. So I don’t know how Brita can possibly rally any kind of organization with that. OK, it’s impossible right now. You’ve got half of your organization hates you and wants you out. Maybe more than half. Okay. And that’s just, I don’t know what she can do, but okay. Setting that aside, here’s hypothetically what they have to do. Once again, it’s the thing I call 24. You have to first recommit yourself to the law of the harvest and say, okay, we have different wings of the party.
SPEAKER 11 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 11 :
Different factions of the party.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. We have to turn those from a weakness into a strength.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right. How do we do that?
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. Here’s how. We have to first look at each other and say, look, number one, truth time. We can’t win without each other, period. End of story. Okay. If we do not have each other, we lose. We’re outnumbered. We have to work this together, period. That’s right. First reality. Second, we must split up the election cycle into 20 months, four months. You know, roughly.
SPEAKER 1 :
22, 22, 18, 6.
SPEAKER 14 :
You know what I mean.
SPEAKER 11 :
I say 24.
SPEAKER 14 :
We must do that, and we must, in the 20 months, focus on winning people to our side. Right now, there is literally zero of that happening from either side. It’s not just the Davidians, but it’s also the Brita consultant crowd. Are they winning anybody to our side? No.
SPEAKER 11 :
Not really at this point.
SPEAKER 14 :
No. Now, I’m going to give them a little bit more grace because they’re under such withering fire.
SPEAKER 11 :
That’s right. They’re under siege.
SPEAKER 14 :
They are under siege from people who hate the party and only want power over the party.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. And I don’t know what you do with that. But hypothetically, though, what she has to do right now is look at the party statewide and say, guys, we are in the 20s. We are in the 20 months when we need to be winning people to the right. Because here’s a big truth, John. The biggest division between the moderates and the conservatives is not their beliefs. Their beliefs are only a few degrees apart. The biggest difference is their strategy. The hardline conservatives believe you put forth hardline conservative candidates everywhere. Doesn’t matter what the construction of that district is or the state.
SPEAKER 11 :
Doesn’t matter.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 11 :
But the moderates— Because, really quick, for all of you listening, here’s the reasoning behind that. Because that old, you know, the truth will set you free thing, they believe that as long as our guy is truthful and principled and this, that, and the other, and he stands for God and country and the Constitution and so on, there’s no way he can’t lose.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, I see. Didn’t Jesus tell the truth?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
What happened to him?
SPEAKER 11 :
It was a long story, Andy. Oh, okay. I mean, it was all part of God’s providential plan, but yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
Did Martin Luther King tell the truth?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, okay. I’m just saying.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah. Did Charlie Kirk tell the truth?
SPEAKER 14 :
Did Charlie Kirk tell the truth? Trump. Reagan got shot. You know what? Telling the truth doesn’t go over too well a lot of times.
SPEAKER 11 :
No.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. I’m all for telling the truth. And by the way, I’m not saying don’t tell it, but learn how to tell it.
SPEAKER 11 :
versus telling the truth to just tell the truth. Follow what I’m saying, Andy? Yeah, totally. In other words, you have to tell the truth in a way that your market understands and will accept it versus just telling the truth. And that’s something that a large portion of the GOP members in Colorado don’t understand. Actually, John. Notice I didn’t say conservatives. I just said GOP members because some of them I really wonder how conservative are you. But at the end of the day, yes, there is far more to this than most people think.
SPEAKER 14 :
John, I honestly believe that better than 90% of Colorado Republicans have no ability to win a voter.
SPEAKER 11 :
I can’t argue that, Andy.
SPEAKER 14 :
To a degree, you have to be a salesman. And to do that, you have to learn sales. You have to learn how you do that individually. But right now, once again, OK, getting back to Brito, I believe that she should come right out and say, look, we can’t win without each other, period, guys. Whoever runs this thing, we’re going under if we don’t work together. OK. And by the way, 2024 was a terrible year for Colorado Republicans versus the national red wave we were in. Right.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
We performed horribly versus the red wave. Right. Okay. So it didn’t work. And in 2025, we did terribly, right? We got wiped out. Did you see Centennial lost? Okay, we actually lost the Centennial City Council. We lost everywhere. So that can’t work. So right away, she has to go law the harvest. Folks, if we want to have a harvest in the fall, and the fall is the last four months of the election cycle in 2026. If we want to have a harvest, then we have to start right now winning people over. And the fact is, most of us don’t know how to farm. We don’t know how to farm. We don’t know how to water weed and do all those things. We don’t know how to win people over. So the first thing that she should be doing is saying, not just me, but people like me, hey, come on in and show us how to win people over. We’ve always talked about personal messaging. If you just go to somebody and speak, well, here’s what I think of the issue, that’s not going to win anybody. But if you go to them and say,
SPEAKER 11 :
Here’s an issue.
SPEAKER 14 :
Here’s what you deserve in this issue.
SPEAKER 11 :
Here’s an issue, and here’s the way that, you know, here’s how you should look at it. Put their needs first. Here’s your involvement in this particular issue. Here’s how it’s affecting you, so on and so forth.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, put the customer first. So what if we had Republicans all across the state of Colorado during this 20 months, rather than, yeah, we can be a little critical of each other’s candidates. We are leading up to a primary. I get that, okay. But what if all of us were training in how to put the customer first? So in other words, go to the customers and say, look, you deserve to decide if your taxes go up.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, let me give you an example. You deserve this. You deserve that. A good example would be this. Yeah, go ahead. Because I’ve heard some of the candidates say this. I watched the little forum thing that was up in Fort Collins, and a couple of candidates even got up and said something to the effect of, you know what? I am tired of the lack of maintenance on our roads and bridges and so on, and I’m going to make sure those things get fixed. Now, Really, and that’s okay to say, by the way, but it is still said wrong. What you need to say is, hey, guess what, guys? Do you realize that Colorado is 43rd in the country for our roads and bridge maintenance? And do you know how that affects you at the end of the day and your own car maintenance and the expense that you’re spending to go from A to B? So I’m with you. I really want to see these things fixed, and I’m here to help you do that. But you need to understand how badly this is really affecting you in your daily life.
SPEAKER 14 :
John, one of my cars, you know, the white Ford, it’s in the shop right now. Why? Shocks, struts. Okay. Yeah. And by the way… But am I right in what I just presented there?
SPEAKER 11 :
Absolutely. And I said the same thing, by the way, but I really didn’t because I involved you as the voter, not just telling you what I think should happen as your governor.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. Don’t tell them what you think. Tell them what they deserve.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right. And how I’m going to help you fix that.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. You know what? It’s four words. Yeah. You deserve more lanes, fewer potholes.
SPEAKER 11 :
And folks, I’m here.
SPEAKER 14 :
And most people are going to relate to that. And then they say, what? And then you say, we’re 47th.
SPEAKER 11 :
I mean, we’re 43rd. And this is the complaint that I have among all the candidates from every end of the spectrum right now that are in this Colorado primary. There’s like 18 or 20 of them. Here’s my problem. None of them, not a one of them, have done what I just said. Not a single one have done what I’ve just said.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. Okay. Well, how about schools? You deserve to have your child’s success be the only agenda in public schools. Right. Your child’s success should be the only agenda, not left or right, in public schools. Every dime spent there should be spent to help your kid kick ass in the free market. Okay. Guess what, John? Do you think that 50% in the middle likes hearing that? Yes. Do you think that 50% in the middle likes hearing, you deserve more lanes, fewer potholes? Your taxes aren’t giving you that. Your taxes aren’t giving you that. We’re 43rd in the nation. You deserve better. Okay? And we can go issue by issue by issue.
SPEAKER 11 :
Exactly. We can go every single one of these topics point by point by point and continue to prove this. All right. Got a call coming in. Let’s do this. Golden Eagle Financial coming up next. SPEAKER 04 :
Now back to Rush to Reason on KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 11 :
And we are back, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate, Ben in Evergreen. Go ahead, Ben.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, I just had a comment on these air traffic controllers. Sure. You know, I Googled, and they’re making like $140,000 a year. That’s about right. And I assume that they did open the government up. I don’t know what. Who knows? Signed some paperwork or something. But regardless, these guys are getting paid on average like $140,000 a year. And I’m thinking if you can’t float your own finances for a month or two or even six months for that matter, what makes you responsible enough to handle air traffic? And when I worked for the state years ago, part of my terms of, employment were, you need to be available 24-7 if there’s an emergency. Well, I never got called in, but the military’s under that. They operate, and they’re making far less. So I just think they’re kind of this entitlement. end of the scale, that they would call in sick.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, and I think what they ended up doing, and correct me if I’m wrong, Ben, but I think what they decided to do was those that didn’t do that, didn’t call in, stayed all the way through, were the ones that were hustling, continued to show up, and so on. They’re getting a big bonus.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, they are. And I’m not saying that they weren’t under pressure. You have to have a good caliber of individual. I wouldn’t want to do it. Because you make a mistake, you know, you’re having a bad day. Yeah, there are no bad days there. Well, Ben, Ben, if I’m… You only get one bad day. Right. Oh, I’m sorry. Go ahead. On the one hand, I really salute them. Absolutely. But the other side of it is you’ve got to suit up, show up, and shut up, and grow up, you know, when it’s tough.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, Ben, really quick here. I want to give a positive and a negative on that first. First, a positive. I agree with you that when you make that much money, you should have your finances in alignment to where you can handle missing a check or two. I believe everybody should have their finances in that way. I mean, otherwise, how do you handle a big fix in your car? Right. I mean, how do you handle a lot of things happening in life if you haven’t saved up enough to have a few months in the bank? So first of all, I agree with you on that. They should have that. However, having your job taken away from you by a government shutdown out of the blue is a very different situation from what most of us face. And I just want to give them a little bit of heart for that because, you know, that’s something not many of us go through to where all of a sudden, because some people in Washington who you don’t even know decide they can’t pass a budget, all of a sudden you’re not getting paid. Not many people go through that.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, but didn’t they just say,
SPEAKER 14 :
uh they didn’t take their job they just didn’t pay them for a while nobody got fired did they no no no but i mean but suddenly i’m just saying the suddenness of having no money coming in for your family for your bills for the you know the person wanting the rent check i mean to suddenly have that happen because of people thousands of miles away out of the blue like that.
SPEAKER 11 :
And I want to add something else to that too, Ben. I mean, I know 140 sounds like a lot, but depending upon where they live and keep in mind, a lot of these folks are working in the bigger cities, it’s more expensive and so on. I’ll be the first to tell you, Ben, that 140K, you’re not getting rich on 140K.
SPEAKER 14 :
You’re poor in L.A. or Washington or New York.
SPEAKER 11 :
Or Denver.
SPEAKER 05 :
Or Denver. Downtown Denver. Well, in Denver, I get by on a lot less.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, Ben, keep in mind, you are somebody who’s probably been very wise with your money. You’re older. You’ve had some ability to live off some things throughout the years. If you take a young air traffic controller, somebody in their mid-30s, for example, they’re raising a family, two or three kids. They’re trying to support all of that at the same time. I’ll be straight up honest with you. 140, by the time you take taxes out of that, They’re not getting rich.
SPEAKER 05 :
And maybe they’re figuring, hey, we’ve been screwed over enough on taxes already.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, and again, I think some of those that actually did irk it out were there no matter what. They didn’t stay home. They didn’t call in sick. I’m fine, by the way, as a taxpayer giving those guys a bonus. They deserve it because I know 140 sounds like a lot, and to a lot of people it is. But in that particular job and for what they do, I wouldn’t do it for that.
SPEAKER 14 :
I agree. By the way, Ben, I do believe they should have continued going into work. I mean, you’re endangering people. You’re shutting down flights, and I understand that. But, you know, I’ve got to give them kudos on one other thing. It’s got to be awfully frustrating to have your checks stop when the people in Washington, their checks don’t. I think everybody in Congress should not have gotten a dime while we were shut down.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, I agree. Just saying. And that goes into inflation. And what were you guys just talking about? Oh, the GOP thing? You know, shifting over to that, but it dovetails in a little bit with inflation and conservative values. I’m with you guys, and I think when I used to do sales, I would ask the customer, what can we do for you? What needs aren’t getting met, and how can we do it? And then if they wanted, well, I wouldn’t say this to our customers because we were under the gun. We had to perform. If they wanted it, we either have to figure out a way to do it or negotiate it or pass on their business. But in the government, I would say, look, I’m going to be your senator. I’m not going to be able to deliver this. you know, whatever it is, a daycare benefit of $8,000 per family household. There’s got to be a better way. Let’s figure it out to lower your costs. Let’s all work together. And so I don’t see the Republicans as doing that. They’re just sitting on their soapbox saying, we’ve got the best plan going. Well, they do, but You’ve got to sell it to people. Right. Key word.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and another problem, Ben, is that you’ll have Republicans who are listening to Ben and they do have ideas on, you know, child care and so forth. But here’s the problem. They don’t come together to have one big plan that they can offer. And so it’s just a bunch of scattered ideas around the country. It’s worthless.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and look, there’s no I in teamwork for anybody that’s listening out there. That’s right. You’ve got to coalesce. You’ve got to get together. You’ve got to say, wait a minute, this is what we stand for and why. And I think a huge thing would be, you know, you’re bankrupting your children and your grandchildren if you’re too selfish with expenses and debt and spending. And we’ve got to trim it back. There’s going to be some pain, but wouldn’t you be glad to do that for your grandkids, for your kids? Would you suffer a little bit? Would you take a little bit of a bite? And the other thing I see going on is people are kind of saying, hey, Trump’s not doing much about inflation. Well, Biden did a lot about inflation. He drove it up to the insane level that it is now. That and the Congress with all the coronavirus stuff. The imported Chinese virus is what I call it. And people are arguably so frustrated trying to make ends meet. And I do think some of it, when I go to the store, I’m relabeling it the food industrial complex. Because I guarantee you don’t have these kind of prices in most of the rest of the world. And somebody’s going to say, well, yeah, but we’ve got the expenses, labor, and overhead. And I’m thinking, well… Do we have to ratchet up inflation to compensate for everything all the time?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yes, is the answer. That’s how economics works. Sorry, to be blunt, yes, Ben, that’s exactly how it works. If costs go up, then you’ve got to cover those costs. And real quick, I do want to comment, and before we go to break, there are places around the world, Ben, where it’s actually more expensive than it is here, depending upon what you’re actually buying. In some cases, we’re extremely inexpensive in certain things, especially food items and things like that. You go to other parts of the world, and what they have can be a lot more expensive than what we have. Trust me.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’d agree. And on the economic thing, let’s put it this way. I’d want to think about it, but I pretty much agree with what you said. That’s how it is. But I still reserve the right to think about it because… You know, it’s a man-made problem. There’s got to be a way out of it. Well, it is a man-made problem.
SPEAKER 11 :
I won’t argue with you on that. But when it comes to basic economics, if a company’s costs increase, minimum wage goes up, the cost of a good goes up, their labor goes up just because that’s what the market’s demanding out of that particular position, for example, then, of course, if the business doesn’t raise prices accordingly, they no longer exist. Right. They go broke.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, meatpacking plants. Everywhere food is put out, wages went up during the last four years.
SPEAKER 05 :
If I find a workaround… Let me know counter argument. I want you to give me a little.
SPEAKER 11 :
I’ll do that. And Ben, I got to run to break, but I would definitely do that. Absolutely. You find a counter argument to me on that one. I will take it all day long. And it’s friendly conversation. Ben, we are on the same team and he knows that. And I know that as well. So, Ben, put on your thinking cap. Let me know. I’m more than willing to to do that. Paul Lundberger is up next. He is my insurance broker. He would love to help you with your insurance needs as well. Give Paul a call today. 303-662-0789.

The best export we have is common sense. You’re listening to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 11 :
All right, that’s it for this first hour. Two more hours coming your way. Andy and I will continue on with the conversation we started. You guys are all, of course, welcome to join in. I’ve got other things to talk about along those lines. And, again, we came up here recently in a study on how bad traffic in Colorado is, not just that we’re 43rd in the country for road maintenance and all of that, but just how bad the traffic in Colorado is.
