This week on the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review, we dive deep into the political landscape in Minnesota, where Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar finds herself in the midst of a social services scandal. Join us as we explore the ramifications of the scandal and discuss the controversial comparisons Omar makes between current immigration policies and historical atrocities.
SPEAKER 14 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. I’m Eric Hansen. It’s Friday, December 12th, 2025. This week, some Philadelphia teens learn about Florida justice. A caller teaches us something about Marjorie Taylor Greene, and the GOP gets a lesson from one of its own. We begin in Minnesota, where Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar pushed back on the social services scandal there.
SPEAKER 15 :
As David Strum writes it over at Hot Air, the effort to rehabilitate Somalis is getting hilarious. I mean, this is really off the charts. I’ve got an update for you on this one. I mean, there has been the fraud committed in Minnesota should be the absolute front and center most important issue ever. that the mainstream media would cover right now. And of course, no surprise here, they’re not touching it. Here’s Ilhan Omar. She’s on CBS yesterday with Margaret Brennan comparing the lawful enforcement of our immigration laws against Somalis in Minnesota to Nazi Germany.
SPEAKER 02 :
I want to ask you something else that the architect of the president’s immigration policy, Stephen Miller, said. On Thanksgiving Day, he posted, no magic transformation occurs when failed states cross borders. At scale, migrants and their descendants recreate the conditions and terrors of their broken homelands. What do you make of this argument of failure to assimilate and sort of ruining America? How do you understand this?
SPEAKER 01 :
I mean, when I think about Stephen Miller and his white supremacist rhetoric, it reminds me. Yes, it reminds me of the way the Nazis described Jewish people in Germany. And, you know, as we know, there have been many immigrants who have tried to come to the United States who have turned back, you know, one of them being Jewish immigrants. We know the way that people were described who were coming from Ireland, Irish immigrants. We know the way in which people were described back then when they were Italian immigrants. And to me, you know, we’re—yes, of course, Of course, ethnically Somali, we are in this country as Americans. We are citizens. We are productive part of this nation, and we will continue to be.
SPEAKER 15 :
Did you see the video over the weekend on social media of the guy, the Vietnamese guy, who was on a great rant about how important it is for immigrants to assimilate? And now we’re watching… The Oppression Olympics, as David Strum over at Hot Air calls it. Somalis have brought with them, he writes, all the ills of their home country. And in many cases, they are quite proud to have imported their failed culture in Minnesota. Far from assimilating, they have, as a group, if not in all individual cases, found that Minnesotans are sheep and they’re happy to be wolves. But we can’t point any of that out because it’s racist to do so. The mayor, I mean, it’s a great article. This fraud has now officially been on, it tops a billion dollars. And the parody, whether it’s Jacob Fry eating Somali food and looking like he’s going to vomit or speaking in Somali at a press conference. I mean, it’s absolutely wild. This guy, David Strom over at HotAir.com writes, I don’t think that Somalis have been horrible for Minnesota because they are black. It’s because they are Somalis who emigrated from a failed culture and brought that failed culture with them. Somalia is a total disaster, rivaling Yemen. Yet refugees from Somalia and Minnesota politicians pretend that their diversity is our strength. Did you see the Republican that was on one of the Sunday morning news shows going on and on about how the first thing we all ought to do is make sure immigrants feel welcome here? That’s the first thing we should do?
SPEAKER 14 :
My gosh. Senator John Kennedy delivered a message to his Republican Party this week. The GOP would do well to take notice.
SPEAKER 15 :
We Republicans can do one of two things. Stick our head in the sand and act like everything’s fine and go to parties and pretend that everything’s going to work out great or we can work our butts off to fulfill the mandate that Donald Trump received when he was elected. If Pam Bondi starts arresting politicians who are corrupt, and if John Thune nukes the filibuster, if we get some Republicans with guts, we’ll be okay. We got a lot of great headwinds, I mean a lot of great wind in our back. We got a lot of great stuff going on. But as John Kennedy put it, Republicans are sleepwalking right now. And we can’t sleepwalk. No sleepwalking allowed. Knock it off. Nuke the filibuster already. Let Trump get his agenda accomplished. We cannot sit around and just hope that things are going to happen. Because they’re not. Here’s Trump. On the campaign trail again, practically. It’s just like a campaign stop. Last night in Pennsylvania. And he was on fire. He was great. It was wonderful to see him out and about. Now look, he’s kind of in a trap. You know him. When he makes up his mind, he’s going to do what he’s going to do. He insists that the affordability narrative is a hoax. And they’re going to pin that on him. And it’s a bit of a trap, because you’re always going to find things that are hard to afford. Egg prices might be down, but bacon is up. People are having a hard time paying bills. So, look, this is stuff we have to contend with, and we’ve got to face some facts here. And again, two things. Start arresting people and nuke the filibuster. The filibuster thing is so intriguing to me. It is so amazing to me that people are sitting around and acting like everything’s hunky-dory. It’s not. Independents are voting for Democrats. Why? Any idea? Any reason why independents would say, I’m going to vote for a mediocre, nobody carpetbagger in Miami? First time in 30 years. Now, I don’t know if Miami’s red or blue. I don’t know. I’m in Florida. Florida’s pretty red. But I’m surrounded by Democrats here. So hard to say where we really are with any of this. But we better wake up. Let me give you the wisdom of John Kennedy. He’s like the Will Rogers of the Senate. He’s folksy, and we’ve interviewed him before. I love the guy. Check out what he said yesterday on Fox News.
SPEAKER 13 :
I think that when the American people speak, you better listen to them. And I think that we need, the president and the United States Senate, need to be working on things that moms and dads worry about when they lie down to sleep at night and can’t. And one of the things is the cost of living. And what I’m telling you is there are things we can do that the president can’t do But in order to do it, the United States Senate has to get up off its ice-cold, lazy butt. And you can’t use the excuse, well, the Democrats won’t go along with it. Of course they won’t. But we don’t need their votes. We can do it through reconciliation with a simple Republican majority. Period. End of sentence. He’s right.
SPEAKER 14 :
A group of Philadelphia teenagers traveled to Florida recently for a high school football tournament. While they were there, they robbed a sporting goods store. And they learned the hard way that criminal justice is different in the Sunshine State.
SPEAKER 15 :
Eight Philadelphia teenagers went to Florida for a football tournament. And apparently they decided it would be fun to rob a sporting goods store in Davenport, Florida. This story says so much about adults letting people down because it’s the leadership of a city like Philadelphia. Do you think if six teenagers… or eight teenagers, rather, went into a sporting goods store in Larry Krasner’s Philadelphia, and they stole over $2,000 worth of merchandise. You think Larry Krasner would want those kids prosecuted? People in Philadelphia know the answer to that question, especially when it’s eight black kids, okay? And race does play a role in this. These are eight young black kids, football players, who traveled with their team from Philly to Florida to participate in a football tournament. They went on a theft spree. These kids are members of the United Thoroughbreds team from Philadelphia, and they were in Florida for the Pro-Lyfix Sports National Championship. The Polk County Sheriff, Grady Judd, according to the Daily Mail, mocked the teenagers at a press conference yesterday, saying that their alleged spree cost their team the game because their arrests meant that they missed the championship game. Sheriff Judge said, I don’t know if these were starters or not, but we were finishers. The Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, also bragged about Florida’s justice system. He shared footage of Judge’s press conference, which we’ll share with you here in a moment or two, and Governor DeSantis said they picked the wrong state and the wrong county. And here’s the best part of all. These teenagers who were arrested are facing felony charges. Even though they’ve been released, they’re going to have to travel back to Florida from Philadelphia to face the felony charges. And they might spend years in jail. Okay, so I want to share this with you. Here’s Grady Judd, the sheriff in Florida, announcing the arrest of these eight Philadelphia teenagers who traveled with their team. And incidentally, somebody else pointed out they were on a traveling tournament football team. They were probably not from low-income families either. I’m not sure. I don’t know. But here’s what Grady Judd sounded like when he announced the arrest of the eight Philly teenagers in Florida for stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise from a sporting goods store.
SPEAKER 03 :
First and foremost, I want to compliment the Coco Tigers. They won. the championship after finishing the season 15-0. It was the Atlantic Coast Youth Athletics Association. And they beat the Thoroughbreds 26-6. I mean, they didn’t just beat them, they ran over them. And the thoroughbreds were from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. So Cocoa Tigers, you did it the right way. That’s teamwork with great young men doing the right thing. Now I want to introduce you to eight of the thoroughbreds. And here they are. You look at the thoroughbreds and you find out what were they doing? What were they doing on Saturday morning? Well, let me tell you what they were doing. They Ubered from where they were staying. They had come from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, down to the Dick’s Sporting Good in Posner Park. Not only did they Uber down there to shop, they had no intentions of paying for their product. So they came into the store in two groups and they began to systematically steal product. And that’s exactly what they did. They stole and they stole and they stole and they stole and they stole. Yeah. How do you like that? This is everything that they stole. And guess what? As we’ve said before, you can’t go anyplace anytime that you’re not on a camera. So Dick’s Sporting Goods knows that they’re stealing because they’re watching this systematic, organized theft ring called a football team. Now, not only did they steal 47 items, not only did they steal 47 items, but ostensibly they may have cost their team the championship. And the football game, because I don’t know if these all were starters or not, but I can tell you that we were finishers. We arrested them. We took them to the juvenile assessment center. And we put them in lockup.
SPEAKER 15 :

SPEAKER 14 :
Promo code MikeG. Yeah! This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. I’m Eric Hansen. Charlie Kirk’s assassination hit everybody hard, his family most of all. His widow Erica has taken the reins at Turning Point USA, but the internet punditry has leveled withering criticism at her. Why are they so angry?
SPEAKER 15 :
Erica Kirk is anything but. The widow of Charlie Kirk… who’s now in charge of Turning Point USA because that’s the way her late husband wanted it. She has become the subject of incredible attacks. And it’s not just coming, I’ll tell you, I’ll share with you candidly, there’s some friends of mine who don’t like the media tour that she’s on right now to promote Charlie’s book. He’s got a book out about, that he wrote right before he was killed. And it’s a book about God. It’s a book about faith. It’s a book about following the Sabbath. Well, of course, the anti-Israel people are flipping out because they don’t understand why Charlie observed the biblical Sabbath. They think that’s a Jewish thing. Somebody on social media named Emily wrote that nobody is upset that Erica is smiling. What we can’t understand is her publicity to her. Make sense of that. It’s not necessary. Most would be home trying to heal their children after what the family experienced. Matt Walsh responded to that saying, even if you don’t fully agree with the way that Erica is handling the tragedy, that doesn’t mean you need to publicly bash and belittle and nitpick the wife of a man who she deeply loved. John Fetterman reacted to one of those insufferable liberal women who’s got a podcast, Jennifer somebody. She called Erica a grifter who should be kicked to the curb. A grifter who should be kicked to the curb. Gosh, are you that dark? Are you that demonic that you’ve got zero sympathy for a young woman who lost the love of her life? John Fetterman responded to this grotesque podcaster by saying, it is gross and dehumanizing to attack a widow with young children after just witnessing his public assassination. It shouldn’t be controversial to put our political views aside and extend the grace for a deeply traumatized family to grieve. Well, let’s face it, I think we have to acknowledge that Erica is grieving fairly publicly. I don’t know why that makes her a bad person. She wants to honor Charlie’s legacy. She wants to carry the torch. Here she was yesterday on Fox News explaining how she now has to relearn life as a result of her husband being taken from her by an assassin’s bullet.
SPEAKER 12 :
How are the children and how are you holding up? Like your daily routine obviously is forever changed. It is. With all the whirlwind and everything that you’re doing between books and speech engagements and taking over Turning Point. Is the… is the goal eventually to get back to where you were with your children before? I mean, obviously it’s all new and you’re still going through it.
SPEAKER 08 :
No, it’s a very fair question. It’s a great question. I am now at my age having to relearn my life. It’s a very fair question. My babies come with me to the office anytime that I do have to go into the office. But what is so powerful is that Charlie handpicked the leadership team at Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action. He knew exactly who needed to be in the leadership roles to get things done because he also had his radio show and his podcast. And he was traveling on campuses doing prove me wrongs. So for him, he wanted to make sure that his baby, Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action, they were running smoothly. And so he was so instrumental and intentional about who he put in those positions. So I am very blessed to have a team. I cannot do this without my team and my family. I call them my family because they are.
SPEAKER 15 :
Now, she got very personal about the difference between Charlie, the public figure, and Charlie, her husband.
SPEAKER 10 :
When we sat down together, you told me the routine. It was the routine. He, on a sunny day, you know, he’d stretch, he’d reflect. Go for a hike. What was that like on those days of Sabbath?
SPEAKER 08 :
Precious. Priceless. I saw a side of my husband that the world never got to see. And that to me was so special because that was him just being able to breathe, be able to be with the Lord, let my children climb all over him, be daddy. And yes, the world knows him as Charlie Kirk. I know him as my husband. My babies know him as daddy. And he was able to just reset, recalibrate and say, you know what? The noise of this world can wait 24 hours. I can get back to it once I have a fresh brain and I’m rested.
SPEAKER 15 :
You know, this is an important issue because Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action were instrumental in getting President Trump reelected. Charlie created a movement. Charlie created an organization that had one of the most profound impacts in the history of America. That’s why, of course, his loss is so devastating. But now Erica is taking over. So, look, I think we ought to try to address this. Are you uncomfortable with Erica’s publicity tour? And that’s what it is. I’m not being critical at all. I admire her tremendously. And, of course, I’m heartbroken at Charlie’s assassination. I’m still not completely over it. I can’t believe they did it. I can’t believe they killed him. It’s hard to even form those words even now. But imagine what she’s going through. And to have people take pot shots at her and attack her, I got to believe she’s going to have to have lots of security because people actually hate her. And that blows my mind.
SPEAKER 14 :
We have debated immigration all year on this show. So it was surprising to hear the position of this Republican congressman.
SPEAKER 15 :
Everybody’s going at each other. Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes and Marjorie Taylor Greene and… Who am I missing? There’s more. And it’s just regrettable because the real enemy of America is the person who wants to destroy America from within. And that has been… That really is today’s Democrat Party. But then once in a while… Republicans act just like Democrats. You’ve got to hear this clip. I saw this clip. It’s a Republican senator from Utah, John Curtis. This is not a guy who’s typically making headlines. And he shows up on CNN. There is now a spotlight on the Somali community, not only in Minnesota, but all over the country. And look, I’m not saying this as an attack. Somalia is a third world country. And plenty of Somalis have escaped Somalia to come to the United States. And according to authorities, many Somalis committed horrific Medicaid fraud to the tune of over a billion dollars with a B in Minnesota. And you’ve got the mayor of Minneapolis… Speaking in Somalia, Somali, you got the governor of Minnesota, that goofball waltz, who had the state flag redesigned so that it would more closely resemble the Somalia flag. It’s insane. And so along comes Republican Senator John Curtis of Utah. He decided to pop up on CNN and say this.
SPEAKER 11 :
And the best thing I can do is set my example. And I think all of us need to wake up every morning, look in the mirror and say, what are we doing? What am I doing specifically today to make this country a better country, to make all of our immigrants feel more welcome? That’s what we’ve always had. And I think if more of us would do that, it would matter less what individuals said.
SPEAKER 15 :
He wants that to be the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning, not the second or the third or even the fourth. First thing you ought to do is wake up, look in the mirror and say, what can I do to make immigrants feel more welcome? Look, we are a nation of immigrants. I don’t mind saying that. I’m the product of immigrants. I’ve said it to you a million times. My grandparents came over here on the boat from Ireland and from Lithuania on both my parents’ side. Not my great-grandparents, my grandparents. And I remember sitting in my grandpa’s lap, listening to him tell me Cape Town in Lithuanian. I remember stories about my mom’s mom, a woman from Ireland. But as President Trump often says, come over here legally, like my grandparents did. To storm the country and act entitled is insane. Mike made some breaking news for himself this week. The breaking news is that I don’t have a torn retina after all. Holy moly. I’m telling you what. What a little adventure this has been. Joey, I went to Jacksonville for the big WBOB Christmas party Friday night. We had such a great time. What a wonderful, wonderful radio station. And just a terrific morning host, Ed Dean, and he was kind of the emcee. Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins was there. The Speaker of the House was there. Anyway, it’s about a four-hour drive, so it’s not an easy drive. And as I’m driving back, I start getting this white flash in my right eye, like a little pinpoint, like little light. I thought, well, that’s weird. Went to bed, got home, went to bed. Next day, I wake up, and now I’ve got a black smudge in my right eye. It’s like floating around. And I didn’t know that. Did you know they call these floaters?
SPEAKER 04 :
I’ve never had that experience, but I’ve had friends who have, yes.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right. So I make the mistake of going to chat GPT. Of course. Now, hypochondriac Harry Gallagher and chat GPT, not a good combination. So I look it up and it says torn retina possibility. But there was also another possibility of just like an aging thing, vicious or vicious or something. I forget the way. And that’s not a big deal. That wasn’t really a big problem. Well, so I go to the ER. The doctor said, get there quick because you’ve got to deal with this stuff fast. You don’t have a detached retina. Long story short, today I go to the ophthalmologist. He said, there’s no tear. You just have this viscous, vicious, vusha, vusha, whatever it is. And he said, it’ll probably heal itself. Keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, let me know. But I think all’s well that ends well. And you just had to cover for a little bit while I was racing in from the doctor’s office.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, it was my pleasure to do so. But here’s what I don’t understand, because last night when you were texting and we talked, I mean, did the ER docs seem to suspect that it was torn?
SPEAKER 15 :
I don’t mean to throw the ER doc under the bus. But here’s what happened. So I go in. I say, it’s my right eye. They’re looking at my right eye. Well, he comes in, this doctor. I’m just going to put it this way. Great hospital. I don’t think eye issues are this guy’s specialty. Okay. Because he comes in with the ultrasound, has me close my eyes, and he starts putting the ultrasound over my left eye. Well, it’s my right eye that’s the problem. And I hear him say, hmm, I don’t really see. And then when he said that, I said, well, you do know it’s my right eye, right? And then he says, oh, yeah, we do this to compare. We do it by, yeah, you do this to compare. Of course they do, yeah. I love it. He got busted. So, yeah, he was a little vague. He looked at it and he said, yeah, I think it’s a tear. So we got to get you right away because they might have to do a laser. Here’s what I didn’t understand. All my friends who heard about this were telling me sometimes you’ve got to lay face down for like three days or something or four days. What? How do you do that?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, and I wasn’t telling you any of this because I thought, my goodness here. But, yeah, we had a friend who he was down for like a week. On his face? Yes, face down for a week.
SPEAKER 15 :
Something to do with the gravity and the bubble and the way the surgery?
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, and the pressure of your eye. And you can’t fly. There’s a lot of things you can’t do.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, I was worried about Christmas because, as you know, we’ve got the Griswold family Christmas planned up in the mountains of Montana. And I thought, oh, crap, this will be my luck. I’m going to screw up the family Christmas. So all’s well that ends well, not a tear, just a viscous floater, voo-voo-voo, whatever it’s called. And I am grateful to you for holding down the fort for a little bit.
SPEAKER 14 :
We have debated immigration all year on this show. So it was surprising to hear the position of this Republican congressman.
SPEAKER 15 :
Here’s Marjorie Taylor Greene last night sitting down with Leslie Stahl on 60 Minutes.
SPEAKER 09 :
Directly fueled by President Trump. And I told him, I told J.D. Vance, I told them all, sent those directly to them. And? Response? J.D. Vance replied back to me, we’ll look into it. I got response back from President Trump that I will keep private, but it wasn’t very nice. Give us a hint of what the president said. It was extremely unkind.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, boy. Here we go. She went on to say that Trump is focused on his donors, not the everyday worker.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you saying that the president now is siding with those establishment powerful people? And against MAGA?
SPEAKER 09 :
He passed a crypto bill that helped out all the crypto donors. He has served Israel’s interests, even attacking Iran. He has served big pharma. He didn’t take away the COVID vaccines that we want to see taken away. So those are the areas that are still getting everything they want. while the people, we’re still out here saying we want to see action on areas for the American people, not for the major industries and the big donors.
SPEAKER 15 :
So whatever you think of her, make no mistake, it has to do with way more than just the Epstein files. She’s just turned on him big time on a series of issues. I hate it. I really do. I don’t know what really made her do this, throw in the towel. And, of course, her action could contribute to Democrats getting control of the House of Representatives next year in the midterms, which would be a nightmare for America. So, again, like I always do, as I said to Joey a minute ago, I always turn to you during difficult times like these. What do you think is really going on? 800-655-MIKE. Let’s start with Vicki in Atlanta. Hey, Vicki, welcome back. What do you think is going on with MTG?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I want you to know that I’ve been through this myself, so I’m an authority. I just want to say that I think that Marjorie Green is at the age that she’s going through menopause. She’s going through a change, and that makes you her mean as a snake. I’m sorry I’ve been there myself too many times. And she’s with a crowd of women going through the same thing. That’s all I got to say, baby.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, Vicki, you can get away with it because you say you’ve been there, done that. If I say it, I’m going to get in a lot of trouble. I’m not going to say it. You know what I mean? I’ll say you said it. I’m quoting Vicki. So you think she’s menopausal?
SPEAKER 07 :
Of course she is. She’s at the age. Look at her. She’s acting like a nut. I mean, we all did it. We all do it and shoot a little caffeine in on top of that. Honey, you’re gone.
SPEAKER 15 :
All right. Thank you, Vicki. I appreciate it. One open line. I did not say that. You’re going to make me pop my eye here.
SPEAKER 14 :
