In this compelling episode, Mike Gallagher takes us deep into the heart of current events with a focus on American politics and cultural divisions. Starting with a tragic shooting incident at Brown University, Mike discusses the reluctance of authorities to disclose information, which fuels conspiracy theories. Through engaging dialogues, Mike highlights the role of leadership in critical situations and the implications of withholding important details from the public. Later, the conversation turns to President Trump’s controversial remarks on social media. With a keen eye on the political landscape, Mike discusses the impact of such statements on the upcoming midterm
From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 08 :
A couple of kids were killed at Brown University the other day, and there are reports that the gunman who is yet to be found… shouted something before he began firing. How hard can it be for the authorities to convey what he shouted? I mean, this is why conspiracy theories are born. People jump to every possible conclusion. We all know what we think he probably shouted, but we don’t know because they won’t tell us. Did you see this Brown University press conference? Wow. We’re in trouble with leadership like this. In Providence, Rhode Island, I guess there are communities and police agencies that are just not capable of handling important investigations. And I hate to say that because I’m pro-police as much as anybody. The Brown University press conference yesterday went completely off the rails. It was a nightmare. At one point, one of the officials said, well, we’re tired. You’re tired? How about the families of the two kids that were killed? Do you think they’re tired? What a ridiculous, ridiculous thing to say. Speaking of ridiculous things to say, you know I’m dreading even bringing it up. But I don’t want to be accused of not talking about something if you’re interested in talking about it. I’m going to say it and get it over with. I’m with Scott Jennings. I’m with James Woods. I’m with a number of other conservatives who wish Trump hadn’t reacted the way he reacted to the Rob Reiner, Michelle Singer murders. Not the end of the world. It’s too bad. It’s unfortunate. I’m thinking about it in sort of broad terms like, oh, winning over independents for the midterms. I don’t know if you want to argue about it. I don’t want to argue about it. I have no interest in piling on. I know what they’ve done to the man. I’m always inclined to try to defend him because of what they’ve done to the man. But at this point, That doesn’t mean you have to defend everything that is indefensible. If we don’t like, if we were outraged at the way people reacted to the murder of Charlie Kirk, you know, the timing of this yesterday was so wild. Tracy comes in right after I finished a monologue and I said, name one person. who mocked or ridiculed or minimized the murder of Rob Reiner on our side. And Tracy’s got this look of just despair on her face. She said President Trump just dropped a post on Truth Social saying that Rob Reiner was killed because he had TDS and he made people around him crazy because of his TDS. And Tracy just—she didn’t even want to come into the studio because of the timing. It was awful. I mean, it could not have been worse timing. I had just finished saying, name one person. How about President Trump? But look, you know, Mark Davis’s position is— It’s an indefensible post. But on the other hand, we’re not going to be lectured or scolded by people who behave the way people on the left behave. Now, that’s the ultimate whataboutism argument. And I’m not really inclined to go down the whataboutism path. The Internet blew up yesterday. The mainstream media blew up. I noticed Fox News didn’t spend a whole lot of time on it. Conservative media doesn’t really want to because it’s a no-win. There’s no reason in reminding people of this unfortunate chapter. And that’s all it is. I just wish she hadn’t said it. Doesn’t mean I’m going to jump up and down and go into a rage. Doesn’t mean I’m going to breathe into a brown paper bag. It doesn’t mean I’m going to stop supporting him. I’d vote for him five more times if I had the chance. I am MAGA through and through. That doesn’t mean I’m going to blindly defend every single thing the man says or does. I’m not sure I’m on board with declassifying marijuana. We ought to have that conversation too. But you know what I’m on board with? An economy turning around. You know what I’m on board with? 2026 being an epic year in terms of getting the job done. You know what I’m on board with? A sealed border. Interest rates coming down. Affordability getting easier for people. There’s a lot of great things to celebrate right now. Unfortunately, yesterday’s reaction was probably not one of them. But like I said, I didn’t want to make it a big A topic. But if you want to talk about it, here we go. 800-655-MIKE. 12 past the hour. 800-655-6453. I go where you take me most of the time. And I never want to be accused of refusing to lean into something you want to talk about. I suspect you probably don’t really want to talk about President Trump’s post yesterday. The Reiner story is awful. It’s horrific. Can you imagine what Rob Reiner and his wife were experiencing, what they were feeling as the life drained from them at the hands of their 32-year-old son? It is a sickening, awful story, a tale as old as time, a child who has demons, an addict, a troubled young man who was capable of the authorities allege committing the most monstrous act of evil that you could possibly imagine. It’s a terrible story. It’s a terrible, terrible story. And frankly, Rob Reiner, whatever you think of his politics, and I didn’t think much of his politics, was a beloved figure. It kind of, you know, the whole debate about the Trump post speaks to the whole issue of do we have to hate our political opponents? And I don’t think we do. I like what James Wood said last night with Jesse Waters on Fox News. We don’t have to hate somebody because we don’t like their politics. Rob Reiner hated Trump. We get it. Rob Reiner is dead. It’s a little bit like what I said about the people who were celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk. He’s dead. Why do you want to keep beating him up? I have the same rule about Rob Reiner. But that’s me, and we’ll go again where you want to go, 800-655-6453. It’s Tuesday, December the 16th. We’ve got a lot of breaking news. Great, great effort by the FBI foiling a horrific terror attack that was planned for New Year’s Eve by some far-left, lunatic, pro-Palestinian… nut jobs and evil maniacs. We’ll give you the update on that as well. But again, first things first, your voice, your call, your perspective coming up here on the Mike Gallagher Show, 800-655-6453. You ready to drop up to 20 pounds or more by the new year? Have you been struggling with belly fat forever? You know, the older you get, the harder it is to say goodbye to those unwanted pounds. PHD Weight Loss cracked the code. They have a metabolic reset system that’s a science-backed way to get your body to burn fat first. Look, I’ve tried everything my whole life. I counted points. I counted calories. I did crazy starvation diets. Then I met Dr. Ashley Lucas, and I learned all about her brilliant program called PhD Weight Loss, the only program that guarantees your success and your results. If I can lose over 50 pounds and keep it off over a couple of years, you can too. Everybody can. When you call right now, they’ll waive your consultation fee, you’ll get two extra weeks free, and they’ll cover the cost of your food during the program. Just for booking, you’ll get Dr. Ashley’s book, Five Steps to Reset the Scale. Hurry, call today. 864-644-1900. Ph.D. Weight Loss.
SPEAKER 12 :
Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 08 :
The great Brigitte Gabriel weighed in on the terror attack in Australia. She said, I refuse to be silent about what took place in Australia and what is happening in the West. We have an Islamic terrorism problem. And I have a very, very hard time disagreeing with that. I am so looking forward to visiting with our friend Yael Eckstein from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. She’s going to join us in about 10 or 15 minutes to talk about what happened in Australia, what is happening to Jews all over the world. I saw yesterday video of Jews being attacked on a bus in New York City. I mean, this is relentless and it is out of control and it must stop. And it’s going to stop when we address it. If the Providence, Rhode Island and Brown University officials won’t even tell us what the killer shouted before he began shooting the other day, and we all suspect what it is, tell us, reveal it and put it to bed. He either said Allah Akbar or he didn’t. Tell us so we know. It’s ridiculous. Ridiculous. 800-655-MIKE. Your call’s coming up 60 seconds away after I tell you a little bit about losing weight. The PhD weight loss way. The holidays are here. I am so thrilled to get to spend Christmas with my kids and my granddaughter. And we’ll eat. But I’ll know what to eat and I’ll know what not to eat. And if I cheat a little bit, it’s okay because I know what to do thanks to Dr. Ashley Lucas’ brilliant program. I lost 53 pounds with Ph.D. weight loss over the course of a few months. I was never hungry. I did it a few years ago. This will be my third holiday since I started the Ph.D. program. And I’m not worried at all. Because I know how PhD’s metabolic reset system taught my body to burn fat first. No drugs, no shot in the belly, no starvation diets. I was never hungry. And for the month of December, there’s a terrific offer. They’re going to add two free weeks to your program. They’ll waive your consultation fee, and they’ll even cover the cost of your food. It’s a great offer. Call PHD Weight Loss now, 864-644-1900. Mention the promo code TWOWEEKS, and again, they’ll waive the consultation fee, cover your food, and give you two free weeks added to the program. Call 864-644-1900, 864-644-1900. Don’t forget to mention TWOWEEKS. Tell them Mike Gallagher sent you. You can also visit MyPhDWeightLoss.com, MyPhDWeightLoss.com. All right, here we go. Lines are jammed. We’ll start with Colorado, where Jim is standing by. Hey, Jim, Merry Christmas. How are you?
SPEAKER 11 :
Hey, Merry Christmas to you, my friend. Yeah, I just want to quick mention, even a great man like President Trump, probably the best president in my long lifetime, he can even make a couple of mistakes. The whole thing with Rob Reiner, the comment, that’s sad. But, buddy, I got to tell you, way more serious to me is if, If he decriminalizes marijuana, because here in Colorado, you talk to police, you talk to school teachers and they’ll tell you, you know, marijuana is a gateway drug and it causes so many problems. Here in Colorado, we’ve experienced that for the last 10 years or so. So that’s way more concerning to me.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s such an important issue, Jim. And, you know, I want to talk about it. The problem is, what we’re up against is, you know you and I are in the minority, right? The majority of people want Trump to sign this executive order that would downgrade marijuana from a Schedule I narcotic to a Schedule III drug. Look… Have you ever been to New York lately? There’s a cannabis dispensary on every corner. The smell of marijuana in our big cities is just overwhelming. Look, I don’t disagree with you, and thanks for bringing it up, because I do want to tackle it, and we will at some point. Right now, though, I want to make sure we give people the opportunity to react to this whole drama about the Reiner Post. But thank you, Jim. And I know we’re going to be swimming upstream on this. I mean, here’s a headline from The Washington Times. Conservatives line up against Trump’s marijuana downgrade. Cindy’s in Nashville, Tennessee. Hey, Cindy, Merry Christmas. How are you?
SPEAKER 10 :
Merry Christmas. I’m good. I’m upset over some things that happened. I just wanted to say I voted for Donald Trump and I lost lifelong friends because of him, because of my vote. I think his good work is being negated by his cruel and horrifying statements. It adds to the divide in this country. And, you know, I really feel like he was spared for a reason and he’s ignored it. I’m very disappointed in him.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay, appreciate your call. Thanks, Cindy. One open line, 800-655-MIKE. Tom’s in Maryland. Hey, Tom, welcome. How are you?
SPEAKER 03 :
I hope you’re talking to me. I’m not Maryland, actually. My phone number is Maryland.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, that’s probably why I’ve got Maryland on the screen. Sorry about that.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, welcome wherever you are. I’m in Sweet Home, Alabama. Anyhow, the reason why I called was to say that I believe in the expression, He who lives by the sword dies by the sword. And I believe that Rob Reiner spread a lot of hatred and that I would not be surprised that he spread that hatred to his son. And had a lot to do with the fact that his son did what he did. And that’s how I look at it.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, and there’s a lot of people, Tom, who are going to say that that’s a cruel thing for you to say. That that’s a very cruel and mean thing for you to say. And you should be bigger than that. You should be better than that. That’s the reaction that a lot of people are going to have to what you just said. There’s no evidence. Everything we know is that this son was a troubled, drug-addicted, problem child. And to blame… being murdered over your political beliefs is just something that, you know, I mean, look, we know that’s why Charlie Kirk was killed. He was killed for his political beliefs. And a lot of people on the left celebrated his death and taunted us over his death. And we found that appalling. And then for you to turn around and then say, well, you know, maybe TDS is why Rob Reiner was killed. It just strikes a lot of people as being pretty mean, Tom.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, that’s not what I was saying. What I was saying was he spread a lot of hatred. And isn’t it possible that he spread that hatred to his son? I didn’t say it had anything to do with that.
SPEAKER 08 :
So look at a political figure you hate. Who do you not like? Are you a fan of Joe Biden? Are you a fan of Nancy Pelosi?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yes, I’m not a fan of theirs, and I don’t want them killed.
SPEAKER 08 :
So if you spoke out against Nancy Pelosi, and then, God forbid, your son turned on you and murdered you, how do you think your family would react if somebody said, well, Tom shouldn’t have hated Nancy Pelosi, maybe he’d be alive today? It just seems like a pointless… exercise to even try to inject a political dialogue into this awful act that was apparently committed by his 32-year-old drug addict son.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, actually, I would like to have the president to back off and say, hey, that’s not what I meant, and explain it.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, he probably won’t. He was asked about it yesterday, and he kind of doubled down. Look, it’s who he is. I mean, it’s just we know that. I mean, you know, and we’re not going to have to. But that doesn’t mean that we disagree with what he’s accomplished as president. He’s probably, I believe, the most successful president in my lifetime. And I’m going to continue to back him and support him. That doesn’t mean I have to agree with everything he says or does. Yeah, I understand. Okay, thanks, Tom. Appreciate it. 28 past the hour. One thing we all ought to be unified on is acknowledging that we got a problem here with Islamic terrorism all over the world, including here in the United States. We’ll take you to Israel where our dear friend Yael Eckstein from the IFCJ, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, she’s going to join us coming up.
SPEAKER 12 :
Mike Gallagher. From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 08 :
These days, the only thing I have to come up with is what we should focus on when we’ve got so much coming at us at once. Look, it is a time to be alive. Erica Kirk announced yesterday that she had a productive meeting with Candace Owens. And I had a friend of mine say, are you going to talk about the meeting, Mike? I’m like, well, I don’t know what to talk about. I don’t know what they discussed. The way Fox News reports on this meeting, this is a possible thaw in the relationship between Charlie Kirk’s widow and the online provocateur, Candace Owens, who used to be, of course, very tight with Charlie. I’m a little baffled by what Candace wrote regarding the meeting. She said, Erica and I had an extremely productive four and a half hour meeting. Of course, we agreed much more than I had anticipated. We also disagreed on various points and people as well. I’m just wondering, what could they be disagreeing about? What’s there to disagree about? Charlie Kirk was killed. What points of disagreement could there have been? Anybody’s guess. I have no idea. Meanwhile, the FBI thwarted what could have been a nightmarish New Year’s Eve terrorist attack. Four Antifa-type far-left progressives were arrested. They’re anti-capitalist. They’re pro-Palestinian. My friend Kevin McCullough wrote a very compelling article at Town Hall. Look, we’ve got a war going on right now, and we’ve got Islamic terror that is here. And what frustrates me is the Islamic terrorism that we’re facing is met with resistance by people who don’t want to acknowledge what it is we’re up against. Did you see this Brown University press conference yesterday? Holy cow, it was unbelievable. The Providence, Rhode Island officials still won’t say what the Brown University gunman shouted before attacking, killing two young people on the campus of Brown University. One of them, Ella Cook, was the vice president of the Brown County Republicans. Now, somebody posted on social media that William Branson Donahue, I’m told she was allegedly targeted for her conservative beliefs, hunted and killed in cold blood. Losing Charlie Kirk three months ago rocked our worlds. The entire college Republicans community at Brown is weeping, learning of the news. This is an attack on our family. This is a horrific, horrific tragedy. And Kevin McCullough writes it was Islam again, certainly talking about Australia. But what about what happened at Brown? Was that an Islamic terror attack or not? You’ve got to hear this. This is the press conference where reporters were saying, well, what did the guy say? I mean, this reminds me of that awful Ilhan Omar incident who famously said of 9-11, well, some people did something. So now we know that the gunman shouted something. What did he shout? The authorities won’t say.
SPEAKER 14 :
Now, there’s a report the shooter yelled something right before his shot came in. Can you tell us what that was?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, it’s part of the investigation, John.
SPEAKER 14 :
The only reason I ask that, though, is… For instance, like with the Unabomber, his brother recognized the writing. So it’s possible a friend or family member might recognize if the person said something that was significant.
SPEAKER 06 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 14 :
That’s why, you know, other than the 9mm, is there anything else… inside that auditorium that you were telling us.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, that’s correct. And listen, like I said earlier, investigations will bring us to evidence that we need to collect in order to be able to prosecute. With that being said, we’re going to continue to collect evidence. And if it leads us to something to that nature that’s going to be extremely helpful for us to identify somebody, we’ll be the first ones to put it out.
SPEAKER 15 :
On John’s question, did the suspect yell like has been reported in some erroneous reporting, but did he yell in a human classroom? And how valuable have witness statements been from those who survived?
SPEAKER 06 :
My heart goes out to the victims. It goes out to the families. And I’ll tell you that their cooperation has been extremely helpful. And with that being said, we’ll continue. And I’m going to respect the fact that and I hope that they get better in my heart and soul goes out to them. So that’s something that we’re investigating. We took statements and we have to confirm that.
SPEAKER 05 :
We’re going to wrap it up here.
SPEAKER 08 :
Time to wrap it up. Stop asking us what he said, because we’re not going to tell you. What in, pardon my language, what the actual hell is going on in Providence, Rhode Island? And you know that what we’re all thinking. But we could be wrong. Maybe he didn’t say Aloha Akbar before he killed these two young people. It got worse. This press conference goes completely off the rails. The mayor there evidently wanted you to know how tired he is during this investigation.
SPEAKER 13 :
President Donald Trump has said that Brown University is too blamed for this shooting, saying it’s the school’s problem. Is that a fair criticism, or do you disagree with what the president said?
SPEAKER 07 :
I don’t think it’s a fair criticism. Can you expand on that? Why not? Because Brown University is not collaborating with you guys. You’re not into the press over here. They have facial recognition. We know that because they follow the students, they follow everybody in the neighborhood. They need to release that data. So everybody know who the guy in the video. We got the video Saturday. Why you guys release the video today?
SPEAKER 05 :
Governor, I think this is the question. Governor, I think, guys, listen. Cardinal, I have just a comment. John, please, just for a second. A couple things. First of all, Brown University and Brown Public Safety, Brown Police Department has been a close collaborator throughout this process. That’s not true. I do not accept that criticism. Come on. We know that. Secondly, everyone you see behind us We’ve all been working for now 49 hours. We’re tired.
SPEAKER 08 :
We’re tired. We’re tired. Well, please take a nap, okay? If you need to get some sleep in order to catch the guy, please, please get 40 winks. Get, please. Because we don’t want you to be tired, Mr. Mayor. We want you to catch the monster who did this. My gosh. You know, I’m as pro-law enforcement as you’ll find. But to see this incompetence play out in real time, imagine being the family members of these two victims and having to hear that crap. These officials still want, can you give me a theory as to why they won’t tell the world what the shooter said? How do we not know what the shooter said? Were there witnesses? Yep, I’ve seen all the reports that he allegedly said Allah Akbar. You think that’s relevant? It kind of matters, doesn’t it? Because of all the motives of every crime in the world under the sun, I think we understand if somebody commits murder right after saying Allah Akbar, we know what the motive is. You know, think about that. With every crime imaginable, you could sit around and theorize, well, I wonder why. I wonder why he did that. You don’t have to wonder why if somebody’s saying Allah Akbar. My gosh. If you can give me a good theory as to why the authorities there in Providence, Rhode Island, will not share with the public what the killer said… I’m all ears.
SPEAKER 12 :
Mike Gallagher.

So I had to go around the country and educate people about what immigrants do for this country or the fact that we are a country of immigrants. The fact is, ain’t none of y’all trying to go and farm right now. We done picking cotton. We are. You can’t pay us enough to find a plantation.
SPEAKER 12 :
In the ReliefFactor.com studios, here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 08 :
There she is, one of the best and brightest of today’s Democrat Party. Wow. It’s Christmastime, the week before Christmas. What have we got, eight days before Christmas? I’m so just joyful at what you did with our Angel Tree Christmas campaign. 7,219 kids, $30, sends a Christmas present to a child who has a mom or dad in prison, sends them a Bible, sends them a personal greeting message from their beloved mom or dad who might be behind bars. And as part of our campaign this year, we offered donors to give us a $1,000 gift contribution to the Angel Tree campaign, and we would give them a commercial on the Mike Gallagher show. I mean, look, there’s no shortage of commercials on any talk show, right? They’re the ones that are the fuel in our engine. They’re the ones that let us do what we do. Thanks to our sponsors, we get to present our show to you every day. I thought, what if we gave somebody a commercial for $1,000 to promote whatever they wanted? And we had a couple of authors. We had a scientist. We had a couple of entrepreneurs. So here’s one of those 60-second commercials. I may even go a little longer than 60 seconds because I got a big mouth. Looking for an edge-of-your-seat thriller from a real American hero? You want to read a page-turner over the holidays? Meet James Shelley, a patriot with 24 years as a Michigan police chief, international service with the U.N. and State Department, counterterrorism missions in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and beyond, even years spent living in China. He’s pouring that experience into the explosive series called Fateful Ops. Fateful Ops, where ex-cop turned black ops spy Jess Spencer uncovers a chilling plot, officials ready to sacrifice American lives to justify endless war funding. He goes rogue. He goes renegade to stop a terrorist attack. no matter the cost. Then in the pulse-pounding sequel, Fateful Ops, The Pursuit of Terror, America’s secret weapon, Jess Spencer, is back. His elite team chases threats from Beijing butchers to high-seas pirates and the FBI’s most wanted. It’s high-stakes action you cannot put down. Grab both books by James Shelley, available now at Amazon.com. Go to Amazon and get the Fateful Ops series. Fateful Ops, The Pursuit of Terror, Fateful Ops by James Shelley, available now at Amazon. And thank you for your support of our Angel Tree campaign. Got a few more spots to go. I want to share with you James Woods. He’s just a great actor. He too is a legendary actor. And he’s a guy that sort of represents the way I wish more of us felt. Do you hate somebody in your life who does not support Donald Trump? Because many people hate you because you do support Donald Trump. And it seems to me… that we ought to be better than they are. When people were taunting and mocking Charlie Kirk and his wife and family after Charlie was assassinated, normal people found that repulsive. Normal people were shocked by that. Normal people were sickened by that. And thankfully… We didn’t do that after the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle. Now, you want to get into Trump’s post, that’s fine. Again, I don’t want to belabor it. I’m not going to pile on. There’s been enough pushback as it is. Again, I wish he hadn’t have posted it. I’m with Scott Jennings, who said last night on CNN, some things you just got to put in your pocket, you know? Rob Reiner hated Trump. Trump obviously not a fan of Rob Reiner, as he said yesterday. Probably not very productive to claim that Rob Reiner was murdered because of his Trump derangement syndrome. It infuriated a lot of people and probably wasn’t very helpful in trying to win over independents to our side, as the midterms are going to be closer and closer. But that’s the way I see it. You may see it differently. Feel free. 800-655-MIKE if you want to weigh in. I do want to share with you what James Woods said last night. I think he, too, disagreed with President Trump’s post yesterday. So be it. And he knew Rob Reiner, despite their political differences. I think what he said to Jesse Waters last night was real significant, real meaningful, and kind of a perfect message heading into Christmas.
SPEAKER 09 :
friend’s house, and people who didn’t know that Rob and I knew each other, they’d see us laughing.
SPEAKER 08 :
Let’s go to the beginning there so we don’t get the first part of the audio clip. Let’s go again from the beginning.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’d be at a party at my friend’s house, and people who didn’t know that Rob and I knew each other, they’d see us laughing and kidding each other, and they’d go… How is it that you and Rob Reiner are friends? And I said, well, what do you mean? They said, well, you are so different in your politics and so on. I said, look, let me explain something about Rob Reiner so that you know. First of all, I judge people by how they treat me. And Rob Reiner was a godsend in my life. We got along great. We loved each other. We had more fun together doing a very serious subject. It was a way to kind of get through it. And he was always on my side. But when people would say to me, well, what do you think of his politics? I would say, I think Rob Reiner is a great patriot. Do I agree with some of or many of his ideas on how that patriotism should be enacted to celebrate the America that we both love? No. But he doesn’t agree with me either. But he also respects my patriotism. We had a different path to the same destination, which was a country we both loved. And when people would say terrible things to me on social media about him, I said, you got it all wrong. And yes, I can see how you can disagree with him. But because you disagree with people, does it mean that you have to hate people?
SPEAKER 08 :
Gosh, are we listening? Do you agree with that? Because we disagree with people doesn’t mean we have to hate people. And when they hate us, does that mean we have to return the favor? Do we have to act like they do? That may work for you. It doesn’t work for me. I’m not going to hate people because I disagree with them politically. I had a couple of emails yesterday, last night and this morning saying, oh, I’ll bet you won’t touch your precious president’s. I’m not going to run from an issue. I know it was a big deal yesterday. I know everybody was talking about it. Scott Jennings mentioned it last night on CNN. Here’s what Scott had to say.
SPEAKER 02 :
I disagree with the statement. I wish he hadn’t made it. And as I mentioned, you know what happened after Charlie died? Lots of people were quick to celebrate the death, call him racist, call him Nazi, attribute statements to him that he never made, et cetera, et cetera. And those of us on the right who knew Charlie and loved Charlie, you know, were quick to call that out and say, this is misinformation. This is a heinous way to treat someone who left behind a grieving widow and little children. So I don’t square it. I think he should have said nothing. Look, I’m not surprised that Donald Trump didn’t have anything nice to say about Mr. Reiner, Reiner was one of his most vocal critics and did for, you know, basically a decade. Say he should be in prison, call him a fascist, et cetera, et cetera. But the correct answer here and the advice I would have given him is just put it in your pocket. You’re allowed to harbor opinions and feelings about people. But in this particular case, someone was tragically murdered. Look, we just as conservatives, we just rolled out of one of the most horrific things that have happened to our our movement, which is the murder of Charlie Kirk. And I have been very critical of everybody who celebrated that murder, the thousands and thousands of liberals who celebrated that. They shouldn’t have done that either. And so, you know, in this particular case, putting it in your pocket would have been.
SPEAKER 08 :
I agree with him entirely. You may not. Let’s find out. Eight hundred six five five. Mike, we’ll start with Michael in Pennsylvania. Seventeen before the hour. Hi, Michael. Welcome to the show. Merry Christmas. Thank you. Thank you.
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m going to take the blame partly off of Trump. It was a horrible thing to say. And I’m going to leave it on those guardrails around him that no longer exist. When he walks in after saying something like that, I’m sure they’re applauding him and telling him how brilliant he is. Just like when he had that video of him in the F-15. going to the bathroom on the American people in New York City. You know, me personally, you know, I foresee the hatred so deep the day that when he lies in state, the Democrats have that video playing on loop.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, I mean, look, I don’t even want to talk. I don’t want to think about what’s going to happen the day that President Trump passes away. And let’s hope it’s in, you know, 10 20 years but oh my gosh they’re gonna they’re gonna be jumping in the streets and popping champagne corks be ready for that someday although on the other hand I think he’s gonna outlive all of us we’re all gonna go before he goes I feel like he’s gonna be there forever or be around forever but you know realistically he won’t and their reaction will be despicable because that’s how they are that isn’t how we should be That isn’t how we should be. Rob Reiner had despicable political views. That doesn’t mean we should turn around then and not… And look, not everything needs to be said. There was a talk show host a number of years ago, I’m not going to mention his name, but was a supposed conservative who hated Trump. He’s one of these never-Trump rhinos. And he kept bashing Trump. And his company said, knock it off. You’ve got to stop it. Would you please stop? If you can’t find something positive to say because you’re blowing up your audience, then just don’t bring it up. Go to something else. There are other things to talk about. The president can talk about whatever. He can post whatever he wants to post. You don’t have to post everything that comes to your mind. But look, we all know this is kind of who he is. And after what he’s been put through, they only tried to destroy him literally and figuratively. They only tried to lock him up for the rest of his life. They tried to kill him on at least two occasions. They tried to bankrupt him. I don’t know that there’s ever been a figure in American life who has been subjected to more than he has. So, think he’s a little prickly? You would be too. Having said that, supporting Donald Trump doesn’t have to mean supporting everything he says or does. And there are people who instinctively do so. I understand why. I get it. I really do. I tend to try to give him the benefit of the doubt because of what he’s been put through. But you can’t defend the indefensible. And blaming TDS for what apparently was the murderous, rage-filled, evil, maniacal act of a drug-addicted son, probably not very helpful. Definitely not very helpful. But that’s me.
