(Worthy News) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced a historic surge in efforts to protect children, revealing it recovered more than 6,200 missing children in 2025—an increase of over 30 percent from the previous year.
According to FBI Director Kash Patel, approximately 2,700 of those children were victims of exploitation, highlighting the severity of threats facing vulnerable youth across the country.
The bureau’s intensified operations led to the arrest of 1,700 child predators and more than 300 human traffickers, while dismantling 764 criminal networks tied to exploitation. Authorities also shut down more than 3.8 million pedophile accounts on the dark web in what officials described as an unprecedented digital crackdown.
In addition, the FBI reported more than 435 arrests connected to Violent Crimes Against Children investigations, resulting in over 300 indictments. Arrests tied to online exploitation and nihilistic violent extremism surged by 490 percent compared to 2024.
“We rebuilt the FBI, surging agents out of Washington and into communities, expanding intelligence sharing, and deploying advanced technology and AI to hunt predators faster than ever,” Patel said, adding that under President Donald Trump’s leadership, the agency remains “relentless in protecting children.”
Federal data underscores the scale of the crisis. Nearly 30,000 children were reported missing in 2024 through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, while broader Justice Department data recorded more than 349,000 missing youth cases nationwide. Many involve family-related abductions, online enticement, or children fleeing unstable environments.
Recent operations have demonstrated the impact of coordinated enforcement. The U.S. Marshals Service’s “Operation Safe Return” rescued 37 children in Southern California and led to multiple arrests, with several victims identified as survivors of sex trafficking or abuse.
Meanwhile, border czar Tom Homan revealed that authorities have located more than 145,000 illegal immigrant children who were previously unaccounted for. The children are part of over 300,000 unaccompanied minors who had been released to largely unvetted sponsors under the prior administration.
“President Trump promised that we would find these children,” Homan said. “Under his strong leadership and with his unwavering support, the patriots at these and other partner agencies have been—and will continue to do—just that.”
The developments point to a broader shift in federal priorities, where aggressive enforcement, interagency coordination, and technological innovation are being leveraged to confront exploitation networks and restore accountability. Officials say the mission is far from over—but momentum is building as more children are being found, rescued, and given a pathway back to safety.
