God has ordained authority. Authority is designed to keep us from self-destructing, personally and as a nation. “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except that which God has established, and the authorities that exist are established by God” (Rom 13:1-7). Authority will make mistakes and part of growing up and developing humility is the ability to handle unfair authority. Freedom is related to knowing Scripture. “I will walk in freedom for I seek your doctrines” (Ps 119:45).
