The episode kicked off with a reflection on the state of Denver’s trick-or-treating trend, with some noticing a decrease in spooky little visitors. Was it the chilly weather or perhaps something scarier keeping them away? The team humorously explored how different films evoke fear in audiences, suggesting that horror is truly subjective. One person’s nightmare is another’s laugh riot, a fact that became apparent as they discussed the films that have famously divided opinions.
Interwoven with their film chatter, the hosts didn’t shy away from topical humor. John Rush and his team highlighted how real-life personalities can sometimes be the ‘stars’ of our nightmares, with cultural commentary that veered into the territory of political satire, particularly with recent mentions of public figures in comedic sketches.
Moving from the fictional realms of horror to reality, the episode took a responsible pivot towards financial discourse. With advertisers like American National Insurance and Golden Eagle Financial, listeners were reminded of the importance of securing one’s financial future. Insurance isn’t just about avoiding catastrophe; it’s about smartly managing the resources we have today.
Listeners were introduced to practical advice on responsible money management. Paul Leuenberger’s tips on knowing when to file insurance claims and when to cover minor expenses out of pocket underlined a strategy of prudence that could save listeners significant amounts of money over time.
Not all conversation was steeped in the chilling aspects of life. Sports enthusiasts were treated to lively NFL predictions by the show’s hosts, who debated which teams would triumph in the upcoming matches. Their insights suggest that just like with films, team performance can surprise us, offering lessons in unpredictability.
To conclude, “Rush to Reason” blended humor, horror, and helpful advice into a package that ensured that listeners were both entertained and informed. As the curtain falls on this episode, listeners ponder the dual lessons of preparing for both the unseen horrors of film and the practical challenges of real life.
Join John Rush and his co-hosts as they navigate the frights of Halloween and the thrills of NFL predictions in this engaging episode. The discussion about scary movies reveals personal fears and laughs, setting the stage for a deeper dive into more serious matters such as financial security and estate planning, with expert insights from Golden Eagle Financial and Michael Bailey Law. This episode offers an entertaining blend of fear, finance, and football, ensuring listeners are informed and entertained as they gear up for the weekend.

Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
Do you have many trick-or-treaters? Yeah, quite a few. Really? I saw a lot of posts today all over the internet. Well, everybody's afraid of your house. Yeah, it just seemed like it was a lighter night for trick-or-treaters, and I'm not sure why.
Andy Peth (Host) :
We had quite a few, but yeah, it seemed a little lighter.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay.
Andy Peth (Host) :
But anyway, one thing with scary movies, one thing that's really interesting is that very different movies scare different people. True.
SPEAKER 12 :
Good point with that. Yes.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Maybe you find a movie scary just because it's that bad.
SPEAKER 12 :
Point Fury Road.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh! Oh!
SPEAKER 07 (Advertisement) :
Terrible!
SPEAKER 12 :
Terrible! So, yeah, it could be your scary movie. Maybe it doesn't scare us, but maybe it scares you. Maybe it scares you. It could be a movie about Kamala Harris. Yeah, that would scare me. That would scare me.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh, yes.
SPEAKER 12 :
Watching her scares me.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Boy, Saturday Night Live, I think they're going to have a field day with the latest comments, garbage and dumb women. They've got to have a field day with that.

Andy Peth (Host) :

SPEAKER 20 :
Putting reason into your afternoon drive, this is John Rush.
SPEAKER 12 :
All right, we are back. Time for NFL Picks. Richard, are you there? That I am. All right, Andy. Take it away. You guys are ready. Go for it.
Andy Peth (Host) :
All right, Richard, let's have some music here. Richard, by the way, later in this hour, we're going to be looking at scary movies. Is there anything scarier than watching the Cowboys play? Maybe the Panthers, Andy. Yes, well, the Panthers. But the Panthers are just a complete shipwreck. The Cowboys are supposed to be an actual team. They're awful every week. Here we go. The Cowboys are at the Falcons. Falcons favored by three and a half. What do you say?
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, yeah, Andy. Again, it's the Jekyll and Hyde of the Cowboys. I have no idea which team's going to show up. The Falcons look like they're coming into their own a little bit, Andy, which is nice of them to maybe finally figure it out. Maybe he's getting healthier, right? Maybe he's actually coming back from his injury a little bit better and kind of figuring it out there. I still think that they will. I don't know, Andy. Until the Cowboys figure it out, plus they've got some defensive holes between Parsons and Lawrence. I'm not sure if Parsons will be back or not. Until the Cowboys prove me wrong, Andy, I'm going to go with the Falcons here.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I'm going to go with the Falcons, too. I think the Cowboys are a mess. Next game, the Dolphins talk about a mess. They're on the road at the Bills. Bills favored by six.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, Andy, the Dolphins, I don't know. They came back with Tua. Maybe they're a little rusty, or he's a little rusty. We talked about that last week, right?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah, do you think by week two he will have shaken off the rust and be any good? I mean, he's got weapons.
SPEAKER 15 :
He does. That did happen with Jordan Love, right? It took him a week or two to kind of get back into the swing of things. I think he will look better this week, Andy. However, I don't know if better is good enough against the Bills. Yeah. Because the Bills, I think, are really good. and I think that they're starting to figure it out. They're kind of starting to come into their own. I think they're a team, to me, that feels like they're going to be ready about the time the playoffs start. I don't think they're ready now. I think they're getting better, but they're not all the way there. So I think the Dolphins will be more competitive, and I think especially because it's a division game, but I think that's probably the extent of of this matchup. So I will go with the bills at home.
Andy Peth (Host) :
And I'll take the bills as well. Next game, the Raiders talk about another horror show. They're on the road at the Bengals who are showing some signs of life. Bengals are favored by a touchdown.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah. And in the bank, again, another one, I don't know. I mean, I think old Joey B, I think he's, he's figuring it out too. And he's kind of coming back from being not healthy and the Raiders are, you know, their own sort of disaster in their own way, shape and form. Um, I just don't see the Raiders winning, Andy. I think they'll hold it close. I think they're good enough to do that, but I just don't foresee how they beat Cincinnati, especially in Cincy. Although, Andy, maybe it's closer than we anticipate because the Raiders, I don't want to say they're a scrappy team, Andy, but they just feel like that team that's going to surprise you. They're going to lose a game they're not supposed to lose, but they're going to win a game they're not supposed to win. However, I'm not sure that's this game, so I will go with the Bengals at home.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I'm going to take the Bengals, too. I think Joe Burrow has a nice game. Next game, the Chargers. They're 4-3, but honestly, they don't look like a 4-3 team to me. They're on the road at the 2-6 Browns, who do look like a 2-6 team. The Chargers are favored by 1.5 on the road.
SPEAKER 15 :
Hey, Andy, I'm going to call this, and yes, I'm going to toot my own horn for a second. I believe I called the Browns beating the Ravens.
Andy Peth (Host) :
No, you didn't.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, well, I was close to it, you know.
Andy Peth (Host) :
You were close to it, but you couldn't quite go all in.
SPEAKER 15 :
I was contemplating it, all right? That's close enough. Yeah, Andy, I think that this game will be, well, two low scoring, although maybe Jameis, Andy, he's kind of figuring out that you can actually throw the ball with the Browns and be successful. You know, they actually do have some weapons and Nick Chubb getting healthier and healthier. I'll go with the home team here. I'll go with the Browns to maybe get a two-game winning streak going. I don't feel very confident in that pick at all, but I'll at least go for it.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I don't like either team. I'll take the Chargers just so we differ on one. Next game, yuck. Yuck. Cancel this game now. The New England Patriots are on the road at the Tennessee Titans. Titans are favored by three and a half. I don't think even the mothers of the players are going to watch this game. Who do you think will win?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, not so good, Andy. Which Mason Rudolph do you get? Do you get the one from last week who lit it up, or do you get kind of prototypical Mason Rudolph from the Steelers' day?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah, who knows?
SPEAKER 15 :
That's where this game is to me because you know what you're going to get with the Patriots and Drake May. You're going to get some ups and downs, some exciting plays, but that's about it. I'll go with the Titans just because they're at home, but that's about it.
Andy Peth (Host) :
You know, I'll take the Titans too. Why not? Next game, the Commanders are on the road at the Giants. Commanders favored by four.
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, how about the old Hail Mary, Hail to the Redskins?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yep. Hey, it worked once. Did you watch it? Yeah, I saw it.
SPEAKER 12 :
That was an insane play.
Andy Peth (Host) :
The Bears, I think we got to credit the Bears with that a little more than the Commanders. Well, yeah, they screwed up. In other words, wake up. There's a game going on.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, dancing in the end zone.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Dodo head.
SPEAKER 15 :
And then he's the guy that goes and tips the ball, man.
SPEAKER 12 :
What a dodo head. That guy should get, like, the trophy of how to not play football. That was funny.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, what not to do in that situation where not only are you not paying attention to everything, but on top of that, you're basically saying, okay, I'm just going to forego paying attention. Oh, I'm not even going to knock the ball down. I'm going to knock the ball up, which is the worst possible thing.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Right, right. Dumbest thing in the world. Let's have a tip drill so the other team has a chance.
SPEAKER 15 :
Crazy. Well, yeah, for folks, if you didn't see it, go back and watch it. It's one of the more amazing Hail Mary plays that you'll see.
Andy Peth (Host) :
But the Giants are not the Bears, so what do you think?
SPEAKER 15 :
No, they're worse, Andy. Yeah, they are. They are worse in that sense. They really are. Oh, boy. I'm going to go with the Commanders here. I think Jaden Daniels is going to figure it out. He is going to have some growing pains here, Andy, coming up. I think he's going to struggle against some different teams, especially on these divisional games where he gets a team twice. But that's not this week. Giants are bad. I'm going to go with the Commanders.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I agree. He's going to have growing pains. Not this week. Not this week. Okay, I'll take the Commanders, too, next game. The Saints are on the road at the Panthers. It doesn't matter who's playing the Panthers. Just pick them. The Saints are favored by seven.
SPEAKER 15 :
They are, Andy. Derek Carr's playing this week, so that'll be a boost for the Saints. Hey! Although they are hurting in a lot of other areas, though. Yeah, Andy, I can't come to grips with picking the Panthers. They are an organization in need of a reset, even though they sort of reset last year. They are in need of a reset.
Andy Peth (Host) :
They made a terrible trade and ruined their team.
SPEAKER 15 :
They've made several terrible trades, Andy. They traded Burns, too, right? Their defensive end. And obviously Christian McCaffrey before that. So, yeah, no good, Andy. I'm going to go with the Saints here. And they likely cover, too.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah, I agree. Okay, next game, the Broncos. They're 5-3. They're on the road at the 5-3. Ravens. Ravens are favored by 9.5. I don't agree with that. I'm not impressed with the Ravens. I thought they looked like garbage against Cleveland. I don't think they're that good of a team. However, they're at home, so do you think they'll beat out the Broncos?
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, the Ravens are very good offensively, not very good defensively. Derrick Henry in his ninth year at 30... Oh, man, at 30 years old, dude, that guy is just being insane, and he's really good, and it's not something that I expected to see, to be honest with you. So... Yeah, honestly, Andy, I don't know on this one. My heart wants to pick the Broncos. My son in my head, so Joshua, he wants to pick the Ravens. He is convinced the Ravens are going to basically destroy the Broncos, whatever it is. So, you know, I'm hoping you save me here, Andy. I'm going to go with the Ravens because that's what Joshua picked, and I'm hoping that it sort of reverse jinxes, all right?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Well, I'm going to take the Ravens, too, just because they're at home. I think these are two pretty good teams, but they're both imbalanced, okay, in different ways. So I'll take the home team with the Ravens. Next game, the Jaguars. You know, they're finally getting healthy a little bit. They're on the road at the Eagles, who are 5-2. Eagles favored by 7.5.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, they're getting healthy. And then the Eagles, again, you and I are just not impressed with the Eagles, to be honest with you. No. Heck no. I think they struggle in a lot of ways. But the Jaguars are still the Jaguars, Andy. I will say that. True. I don't know how this looks. You know, ultimately, I think that maybe it'll be closer. You know, Andy, I'm going to take it since I just picked the favorite with the Ravens. I'll pick the Jags. Okay. Because maybe they catch the old Eagles sleepers.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I just don't know. I don't like either team right now, but I'll take the Eagles at home because they're at home. Next game, the Bears. They're 4-3 and a little bit wiser after last week. They're on the road at the 4-4 Cardinals. Cardinals are favored by two. I'm going to say if there is a close, fun game that I would like to watch this weekend, this is it.
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, you've got two sort of exciting teams. They don't play great defense, neither of them, although the Bears actually played decent defense against the Commanders until the very last play last weekend. But, yeah, Andy, it will be interesting in this game, kind of a low-key exciting game in that afternoon slot that should be fun. This is another one I will side with my son. Joshua is picking the Bears over the Cardinals, and mainly because he loves Caleb Williams. Let's I can actually see the logic, Andy. Maybe the Bears are starting to figure some stuff out.
Andy Peth (Host) :
You know, gosh, it's a coin toss, so I'm just going to go the other way so we're different. I'll take the Cardinals. Next game, well, this one's going to be quick. The Lions are unbeatable. They're the best team in the NFL by far. They're on the road at my Green Bay Packers. Lions are favored by three. I think it's far too little. What do you think will happen?
SPEAKER 15 :
Is Jordan Love playing?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Who cares? I mean, seriously, look, the Lions have an incredible offensive line, and that's the key to their team. They're going to mow over almost every team they play now. I'm taking the Lions by a minimum of 20. I don't think we're going to get near their quarterback. Goff is going to have, I don't think he's going to get a single scuff on his jersey the whole game.
SPEAKER 15 :
I love your optimism, Andy. Well, I'm just being honest.
Andy Peth (Host) :
That's how good they are, right? They won 52-14 last week. I mean, they're rolling. I picked them at the beginning of the year. Remember, I said, I think this is the best team. I still do.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, they're really good. I mean, they really are good. I mean, I think if a team's going to compete with the Chiefs or anyone like that, it's probably going to be the Lions. They are the class right now. To me, the biggest thing with the Lions, Andy, is can they maintain their focus? throughout the year, right? Can they actually continue? Because they're still a young team. I like Dan Campbell for them. I like him as a coach. They've lost, obviously, Hutchinson. I would expect them to try to go get another pass rusher before the end of the year. But, yeah, to me, India, can they maintain the focus? I think they do here. Although I think that especially if Love plays, I think it will be closer than they think. But, yeah, I'll take the Lions.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah, Lions big. Rams are on the road. Here's a really good game, because the Rams, there's nothing like getting back two Pro Bowl receivers in the same week. Suddenly, they're alive again. They're on the road at Seahawks. Rams 3-4. Seahawks 4-4. Rams are actually favored on the road by a point.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, I don't... I'm still not on the Seahawks training. I know they beat the Broncos at the start of the year, and they've had a few good wins. I'm just not on their training. And again, I think the Rams... struggled i think the rams but i they struggled without their top guys now they're getting their top guys back and stafford is still great and he's still doing excellent so um i'll go with the ramps here andy on the road um to beat them even though i think that environment's going to be crazy i think the rams will pull it out i'm taking the rams to next game the colts are on the road at the vikings vikings favored by five i don't think five's enough what do you think Well, Joe Flacco's playing Andy.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER 15 :
For the first time in history, a quarterback decided they should take themselves out of the game because they were tired.
Andy Peth (Host) :
First of all, that's hilarious. And secondly, let's remember Joe Flacco is 127 years old.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, but Andy, he seems to at least know he's not going to go 10 for 30 as Anthony Richardson did.
SPEAKER 08 (Advertisement) :
No, he's not.
SPEAKER 15 :
That's true.
SPEAKER 08 (Advertisement) :
At least he plays football.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, something like that. This game's going to be closer, Andy. I'm with you. The Vikings will sort of get back on track. I think they'll beat them, although, again, I think this game will be close.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I think it's a runaway. I think the Vikings will pound them. Next game, the Buccaneers are 4-4. They're on the road at the 7-0 Chiefs. Chiefs favored by 8.5. Might the Chiefs look past this team?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, if they would be looking past them, it would be towards my Broncos next week, so I'm not sure that. But, yeah, the Buccaneers have struggled a little bit, Andy. They're without their top two receivers, but basically still playing really, really well. I mean, he sort of has got – He's kind of figuring some stuff out. I'll just say it that way. I'm going to go to my son because, to me, even with all saying that, I would still probably pick the Chiefs because I'm probably going to pick the Chiefs until they lose, and then I can't pick them anymore, and then I'll still pick them. But Joshua is saying that he's going to pick the Buccaneers upsetting the Chiefs, which is crazy, Dad, as you know, because him and Mahomes are in lockstep. And as much as I like Mahomes' politics and his wife's politics, Can't be choosing that. So we'll pick the upset, Andy. Buccaneers over the Chiefs.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh, I'll take the Chiefs. So there you go, John. Wow. Okay. Hey, come on. Good job, guys. We've got that. Let's face it. Let's face it, Richard. You and I are not the experts here. You just talk to the expert.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, there we go. That's right. He knows what he's doing. All right. He knows more than me and I do. You bet. Scariest Movies. We'll be right back. High-five plumbing. Don't forget they do electrical now as well. 877-WE-HIGH-5.

All right, civil, criminal, we've got you taken care of, including insurance cases. Give Kevin a call today, 303-806-8886.
SPEAKER 04 (Advertisement) :
Here's why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you've been hurt by someone else's negligence. The idea is that you're going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist's perspective is that you're going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we're talking about six people that you don't know. Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you're the one who's hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it's worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don't know and were witnesses to believe that's what the case is worth? Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. SPEAKER 12 :
All right, we are back. Friday edition, Rush to Reason. Myself, Andy Pate, Charlie Grimes, your engineer, and Richard Rush with us as well. All right, scariest movies, Andy, fire us off.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay, and like I was saying before, it's what's scary to you. Okay. So this movie is one that absolutely terrified me. It came out last year. I'm going to play a little clip of it. And it's two girls climbing up an incredibly tall, rickety tower.
SPEAKER 12 :
I still haven't seen all of this movie yet.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
I can't watch it.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Out in, like, Arizona or whatever. I don't know. And it's called Fall. Here they are.
Movie Trailer (Host) :
Hunter, how do we get down? I don't have a signal.
SPEAKER 10 (Advertisement) :
The water is out there in that bag.
Movie Trailer (Host) :
We have 50 feet of rope. I think I can drop myself lower. Okay, I'm going to jump onto the flag. Hunter, no. Every hour that passes, the weaker we get. If anyone called 911, they'd be here by now.
SPEAKER 10 (Advertisement) :
What is it that Dan used to say? If you're scared of dying, don't be afraid to live.
Andy Peth (Host) :
fall why did they climb it in the first place oh i won't even go i don't want to spoil it for anybody it is worth watching i did give it four stars i know oh my when she leaps out i'm gonna i'm gonna spoil it at the dreaming the one girl's dead you don't need to watch it people oh you are terrible saving people andy charlie cut his mic for the rest of the show even
SPEAKER 15 :
If you're even scared, and I didn't give it away because you still have to watch it to know what I'm saying, Andy, but is that pretty much the plot?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Well, it's part of the plot, but no, the plot, the main part of the plot is you're scared, you're too far up, and this thing's falling over. Oh, my word. You're a mean person.
SPEAKER 12 :
I guess I need to watch it. I really have a hard time watching it because of all that.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Richard, so you did see it. When she leaps out at the backpack. You've got to admit, have you seen a scarier moment in a movie?
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, for a movie that's obviously low budget and pretty much just like two people, it's actually really kind of well done there. I have not seen all of it. I've just seen enough parts to know what happened. But, yes, when she leaps, yeah, your heart drops, right? You're not even leaping. That's horrible. It's horrible. Richard, you're up. So here's the question first on that. Andy, would you ever be one of those guys that gets paid like 200 grand a year to climb up and change the lights at the top of those things?
Andy Peth (Host) :
No. Thank you for asking.
Caller (Guest) :
Fair enough.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I'm afraid of heights.
SPEAKER 15 :
I know you don't love heights, but.
Andy Peth (Host) :
No, I hate heights. I hate them, hate them, hate them. But I'll tell you what, you watch the movie Fall. For all of you out there who laugh at me for being afraid of heights, you watch the movie Fall and come back and tell me you're not afraid of heights.
SPEAKER 15 :
There you go. I'm not going to disagree with you there, Andy. All right. I'm going to go, Andy, with probably, I guess, more prototypical here. Okay. It got me because it was one of the first sort of scary movies I watched, even though it's aliens and aliens aren't real. It's Signs. I watched that with a sibling, and I had to have someone stand outside my shower door for like a month because I could not watch it because I was worried I was going to stand in the mirror and they were going to cross behind me.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Richard, I'm just glad to hear you were showering. It's okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
It was borderline.
Andy Peth (Host) :
It was borderline.
SPEAKER 15 :
No, Science was a scary movie, and I love Mel Gibson.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I thought it was pretty well done. Yeah. Back when Shyamalan made movies.
SPEAKER 12 :
True. John, you're up. The Mist.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh, The Mist.
SPEAKER 12 :
Any Stephen King movie is creepy. Yes, creepy and scary, right? Yep, yep. All right, John from Cheyenne, you're next. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right, well, Richard, you stole my wife's one. She had signs. She also said The Exorcist.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, that's on my list. That, that, yeah. Yeah, that was one where, you know, you watch that once and do you need to see it again? No.
SPEAKER 14 :
No.
SPEAKER 12 :
Once is enough, yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
It'll wake, it'll make you stay up at night.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, my age.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I often worry that Kamala's head is going to start spinning. I'm just saying.
SPEAKER 14 :
I thought it already did.
SPEAKER 12 :
Kamala looks like the figure from Scream. She does. When her mouth is open.
SPEAKER 14 :
She does. Oh, you guys are so mean.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, I'm sorry. The other one my wife said was Sixth Sense.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, that's a good one. That's on my list, too. That's creepy. Yeah.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I see dead people. Yeah, that's what he said. I see dead people.
SPEAKER 14 :
And I don't know. I got my... I love the original Omen with Gregory Peck. That'll creep you out.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah. Which is it? The Omen. Oh, The Omen? Well done, John. That's a creepy one.
Andy Peth (Host) :
All right. Good one, John.
SPEAKER 12 :
Appreciate you. All right. All right, man. Have a good weekend. Take it away.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay, I'm going to do another one from the same people who made Fall.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, okay.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Right? And it was a movie they made before Fall called 47 Meters Down. Two girls who go down in a shark tank and things go wrong. Here we go.
Caller (Guest) :
I'm so lost.
SPEAKER 16 :
Stay in the cage.
SPEAKER 18 :
I have no air.
Caller (Guest) :
It has to go now.
SPEAKER 07 (Advertisement) :
The air sucks everywhere. 47 meters down.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Sharks everywhere.
SPEAKER 07 (Advertisement) :
47 meters down.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Starring, of all people, Richard Rapunzel from Tangled. Good to know. She was the star of it. Anyway, Richard, you're up.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, John just... He gave me an idea. Oh, I know. Okay. Maybe not scary, but again, I'm going back to my childhood where my dad abused me emotionally with scary movies, as people will know. Which is... Indiana Jones... the Temple of Doom, when he's doing the little, and then he pulls out the guy's heart. Got me.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Pulling out the guy's heart. Yeah, for a little kid, that's got to be pretty bad. I'm just telling you.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah. Telling you, Andy, the things that he made me watch forced me. Glued my eyes to the TV.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Your dad, knowing your dad, he's like, we could throw that in the smoker. It's all right. There we go.
SPEAKER 12 :
All right, going back in time. Before we go to Joe, Cujo.
Caller (Guest) :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
That was bad. That's pretty scary. Yeah, that was scary. Cujo.
John Rush (Guest) :
Okay.
SPEAKER 12 :
All right, Joe, you're next. Go ahead, sir.
John Rush (Guest) :
All right, I got two. One supernatural, one not supernatural. Does the word red rum ring a bell? Oh, yes. Red rum. Yes. Red rum. The Shining with Jack Nicholson.
SPEAKER 12 :
It's on my list.
John Rush (Guest) :
How about Jaws?
SPEAKER 12 :
That's on my list, too. Classic.
John Rush (Guest) :
I'll tell you what. To go with The Mist, did you ever see the movie, the John Carpenter movie?
SPEAKER 12 :
That's on my list, too. That's a good one, also.
John Rush (Guest) :
All right. I'll let you go, guys.
SPEAKER 12 :
All right, man. Appreciate you, Joe. No, those are all good. Now, keep in mind, for all of you listening, this is a hard subject for me because I haven't watched a scary movie in like 40 years. No, you haven't. I just don't watch them.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Well, okay. Let me play one that I think you can probably handle. Okay, and this is Officer Doofy from Scary Movie. Here we go.
SPEAKER 16 :
Thanks, Doofy.
SPEAKER 14 :
The special Officer Doofy today, Sandy. Now, Sandy, Sheriff has some questions that he would like to ask you today. Hey, what is that? That god-awful smell.
SPEAKER 16 :
I don't know.
SPEAKER 10 (Advertisement) :
Look out, Poopy. Did you just say that you went poopy? Yeah, it was good.
SPEAKER 14 :
Get him out of here.
Movie Trailer (Host) :
You should now go back to special ed.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay. Maybe a change of underwear, son.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Officer. He's pointing at his felt star that he has on his uniform. Oh, gosh. He was funny. Officer Poopy.
Caller (Guest) :
Doofy.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Richard, you're up. What's a scary movie?
SPEAKER 15 :
No kidding. A very scary movie. All right. A scary movie, but it's not that scary. And it's kind of, I don't know. I mean, it's sick and twisted, but not like super scary, or at least mostly not, which is I'm going to go with Saw.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, yeah. That's on my list.
SPEAKER 15 :
What do you mean not that scary?
Andy Peth (Host) :
I thought Saw is terrifying.
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, I don't mind. To me, I can handle movies that don't have a lot of jumpies.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I don't like to jump. Well, that's true. And, Saw, you see the horror coming. It's awful.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, exactly. You can see it. And I don't mind that. I don't mind people getting their hands cut off or whatever else. You know, whatever.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay, then.
SPEAKER 15 :
But you jump out and scare me and cut my hand off. That's a problem.
SPEAKER 12 :
It all scares me. I'm sorry. Saw freaks me out. Mine is, and I think this is probably one of the last scary movies I think I've seen, Chucky Child's Play.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh.
SPEAKER 12 :
The freaky doll. Yes. And it is freaky. It was freaky.
Andy Peth (Host) :
And he was good, too.
SPEAKER 12 :
Kind of corny, but freaky at the same time.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay, here's the scariest movie from my childhood, Halloween. Oh.
SPEAKER 19 :
I spent eight years trying to reach him and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized that what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply evil.
SPEAKER 12 :
And then there's a lot of cutting and screaming. Is that Jason? No, no. What was his name in Halloween? Michael Myers. Yeah, but is that what he was called in the movie? Michael Myers?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay, which one is Jason?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Friday the 13th, I believe.
SPEAKER 12 :
Is that right? Am I right, Richard? Yeah. And who's Freddy Krueger?
Andy Peth (Host) :
That's... He's from... Yeah. The Nightmare on Elm Street.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay, gotcha. Sorry, I needed a moment. Make sure I get them right.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I don't watch a lot of those old horrors. I don't watch as much either.
SPEAKER 12 :
I saw all those when I was a kid.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay, Richard, you're up.
SPEAKER 15 :
All right, I'll go with see here. Okay, again, not super jumpy. Oh, there are some jumpy parts. Final destination.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 15 :
And any time I'm driving down the road and I'm next to a log truck or one of those steel beam tanks, I'm getting out of there as fast as I possibly can.
SPEAKER 12 :
I know. I'm with you on that one. You've seen that once in a freak show. It's like the pipe dude the other day that killed all the people on I-70. Same deal. Just recently happened. Really? Yeah.
SPEAKER 15 :
I didn't see that. It's through. That's horrible. That's what's coming for them.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah. Wow. I'm with you right there. Okay, John, you're up. I know we mention this movie a lot, but it is, again, probably one of the more recent. I don't know if you want to call it a scary movie. Well, it's scary to me. Quiet Place. Yeah. It's got you on the edge of the seat the whole time.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
And by the way, it's just really good. And the whole series are good. Oh, they are good. All of them.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay. Shall we do another?
SPEAKER 12 :
Absolutely.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay. Got to do the Crocs, baby. The Alligators. Got to do Crawl. Here we go.
SPEAKER 10 (Advertisement) :
You need to go now.
Movie Trailer (Host) :
I'm not leaving you here.
SPEAKER 12 :
famous last words. Yep.
Caller (Guest) :
Crawl.
Andy Peth (Host) :
She screams at the thing and challenges it. She's stuck in a shower, and the water is up to her midriff. In the crawl space, right? Yeah, because she's trying to draw one in so she can trap it. It's incredible. Alligators everywhere. Wow. Yep. Okay, Richard, you're up.
SPEAKER 15 :
All right. I know what you did last summer.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, that's a good one.
SPEAKER 15 :
I like that movie. I thought it was fun.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, it's on my list here somewhere.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Fun's a very weird way of saying it, but sure, Andy. Whatever you want to say. Well, fun for, you know, horror. Fun horror.
SPEAKER 12 :
John, you're up. Weird movie, scary at the same time, old one-hour photo.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
Is that Robin Williams? Yeah, yeah. He was creepy. He was very creepy in that movie.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay.
SPEAKER 12 :
He's a dude at the one-hour photo that's taking, you know, developing duplicate pictures of the one family, right?
SPEAKER 15 :
Hey, by the way, a movie that you can't show people today, kids today, because they don't know what one-hour photos are.
Andy Peth (Host) :
They have no idea what it means. Good point. What is that? One hour of photo. A photo? What is that? Just waiting an hour for the photo would be their horror movie.
SPEAKER 12 :
We used to have to wait more than we do. When I was a kid, you didn't even have one hour of photo. You waited like two weeks. Wasn't it Charlie or so? Two weeks to get your stuff back? I know. Crazy.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay. Well, we got to really quick here. Just listen to the first rule of surviving Zombieland. Here we go.
Movie Trailer (Host) :
When everyone around me has turned to meat, it's because of my list of rules. Rule number one for surviving Zombieland, cardio. When the virus struck, for obvious reasons, the first ones to go were the fatties. The fatties. Poor fat bastard. That's funny. The fatties.
Andy Peth (Host) :
The fatties. Cardio. That's hilarious. Okay, Richard, you're up.
SPEAKER 15 :
All right, Andy, this is one, I'm going to do a TV show, so just get mad at me, that's okay. I am. But this scared the living snot out of me as a kid. And again, my dad made me watch it, glued my eyes to the TV, said, you have to watch this. But on CSI, they had CSI Las Vegas, there was the guy, like the cable dude, that was watching the people in their houses. And he would crawl up into the ceilings. And, you know, like, install, like, cable, whatever. But then he would install cameras, and he would be able to, like, kill them that way. You were afraid of CSI? Yes, Andy. It was terrifying. That guy was no good. He was no good. Pretty sure my wife is scared of him, too, because she talked about it as well. I'm just saying.
Andy Peth (Host) :
If you're going to be scared of a TV show, why not, like, X-Files or something?
SPEAKER 15 :
Because that's not scary. Aliens, whatever else it is. That could be real, Andy. You never know with those TV repairmen.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Well, that's true. I am afraid of them.
SPEAKER 12 :
Go ahead, John. When I was a kid, this one did scare the living daylights out of me. Gremlins.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh. Gremlins is good. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. All right. I'm going to go kind of recent here. The Evil Dead from 2013. Here we go. It's on my list. Yeah. I just love it. That's so creepy. And really good. Richard, you're up.
SPEAKER 15 :
Very creepy. All right, Andy. Here's another one of my wife's scary movies. And, Dad, you'll find this funny. Vacancy. Vacancy.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, that is a scary movie.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, it is. The hotel one.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yes, no, that is scary.
SPEAKER 15 :
It's got the tunnels between the hotels.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, no good. Who's the main character? Cusack, isn't that him? No, that was Identity, wasn't it?
SPEAKER 15 :
Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay, gotcha. Yeah, you were thinking Identity. Identity, that's the other one. That's a scary one as well. It is. I'll throw that one out there. There we go, Identity.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh, okay. Here's a really scary movie from way back called Silent Hill. By the way, it had incredible special effects. Here we go.
SPEAKER 16 :
Rose, hurry! It's coming! What's happening?
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh!
Caller (Guest) :
Sharon!
Movie Trailer (Host) :
To find your daughter, you must face the darkness of hell.
Movie Trailer (Host) :
It's okay, baby. Mommy's coming.
Andy Peth (Host) :
There were monsters everywhere in that one, and boy, oh boy, was it scary when I first saw it. But I was also just blown away by the special effects. Very cool. Richard, you're up.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, I never saw this one, but I think this is a Jordan Peele movie, if I'm not mistaken, Andy. Get Out. Yes. Well made. Where he's the white, yeah, or the black dude, and he goes to meet the girlfriend's family. Yeah. Yeah.
Andy Peth (Host) :
That was just well made. John, you're up. Tremors. Tremors!
SPEAKER 12 :
Does that count?
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah, of course it counts. By the way, in Tremors 2, here's the shooting guy talking about his ammo. Here we go.
SPEAKER 10 (Advertisement) :
Must have been a couple of dozen of these things. Well, I dropped the first wave with semi-auto fire, but they just kept coming. Sheer luck, most of them were in front of the truck, so I just popped it in the sixth wheel and ran them down. Once I got on board, I handled with a combination of small arms fire and hand-to-hand techniques. I am completely out of ammo. That's never happened to me before.
Andy Peth (Host) :
He was funny, wasn't he? Okay, here was a four-star movie, very creepy from last year, Black Phone.
SPEAKER 15 :
See the wall in front of you?
Movie Trailer (Host) :
I tore one cable loose from down there.
SPEAKER 13 :
There's a combination lock on the inside of the storm door. What's the combination? I carved it in the wall.
SPEAKER 08 (Advertisement) :
Hang up the phone!
Caller (Guest) :
Now!
SPEAKER 08 (Advertisement) :
The tree, the door, the gate. I've never seen it before, except in my dreams. You don't have much time.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Okay, basically, ghosts of kids are telling him how to escape from a guy who's gotten him over a black phone that doesn't work. It's very creepy. Richard, you're up. Anaconda. Hmm. I thought Anaconda was pretty fun. I enjoyed it.
SPEAKER 15 :
I mean, it is a fun movie, but I watched it when I was a kid, and I was scared, Andy. I was, too.
SPEAKER 12 :
Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes? All right, Kathy Bates, Misery.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh, yes. Okay, I don't want to play any more clips because we don't have time, but Megan from last year. Oh, okay. That was pretty creepy, the little robot girl. Yeah. Richard, you're up.
SPEAKER 15 :
No good, Andy. All right. Did we do It yet? The clown? No, we didn't. It's a good one.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, that works. Go ahead, John. This one came from Dan Muir, I Am Legend.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Oh, yeah. I like that. Okay, how about this one? Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Yep, that's in my list. That's just awful. Richard, go.
SPEAKER 15 :
Um... The Menu, Andy. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, I forgot about that one. That was creepy. Go ahead, John. Creepy. Is that the one where they're in that fancy resort restaurant thing? Oh, yeah, that's a weird one. Yeah, you're on The Menu. Yeah, that's a weird one. I did see that, actually. Okay. Psycho. Oh, classic.
Andy Peth (Host) :
The shower scene. Okay, for a funny horror movie, just like Tremors, Lake Placid. Very funny. Very funny. Richard, you're up.
SPEAKER 15 :
Um, let's see here. I'll go to, like, the classics.
SPEAKER 12 :
Like, do we have The Conjuring? Oh, yeah. That's on my list. Yeah. That's a good one. Okay, we're going to go old. How about Changeling? Ooh, good one. Okay.
Andy Peth (Host) :
How about a little mystery? Seven.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, okay. Yeah.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Richard, go. Trick or Treat. Trick or Treat.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, yeah, that's on my list, too.
Andy Peth (Host) :
I didn't see it. Go ahead. Poltergeist. Oh, yeah, classic from Spielberg. How about 28 Days Later? Oh, that's scary.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, yeah.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Richard, go.
SPEAKER 15 :
I don't think I saw that.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, what is this? Oh, you did Halloween, didn't you, Andy?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah. Okay, I'll go with The Deliverance. I have no idea. I'm just pulling out random. Well, that is a little scary in a certain way.
SPEAKER 12 :
That was horrifying, yes. You don't want your kids watching that. Let's just say that. No, no.
Andy Peth (Host) :
Go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 12 :
I'll close off with this one. How about Cloverfield? Yeah, it's pretty scary. All right, we'll leave it at that. Richard, I'll let you go. Have a good weekend. All right, Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning. Again, if you've got problems with your furnace as we head into this next week when it's going to be much colder, please give them a call today. Find them at klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 21 :
Cub Creek Heating and AC will make sure your furnace is ready for when the cold strikes. They complete a 25-point inspection of your entire system, change filters, and check connections and more. What really sets Cub Creek's tune-up apart from competitors is that they'll actually clean your system first. HVAC companies often offer a tune-up but won't clean the system or they'll wait till after they check things to clean up. That means false readings and fixing problems you don't have. Other companies only do a visual inspection. Cub Creek connects to your system to get real readings and fix real problems. The truth is, you don't really know if your heater is going to work efficiently this season, and Cub Creek can come out now while it's warmer and ensure that you're ready for another cold, wet Colorado winter. Contact Rheem Certified Pro Partners Cub Creek Heating and AC on klzradio.com's advertisers page to save $50 on your tune-up and be ready for when the weather comes.
