HR1 Rush To Reason November 7, 2024 by John Rush
SPEAKER 04 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 06 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush. My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 14 :
Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 16 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 18 :
I am Hans. And I am Franz. And we just want to pop your loss.
SPEAKER 04 :
Welcome to Health and Wellness Wednesdays on Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 16 :
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, sir.
SPEAKER 04 :
I have what doctors call a little bit of a weight problem. I used to grab bear claws as a kid, two at a time, and I’d get them lodged right in this region here.
SPEAKER 14 :
Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.
SPEAKER 01 :
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m sorry that I’m fat.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, welcome. Health and Wellness Wednesday edition, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Andy Pate with me today because we’ve got some things we’ll do in the follow-up to the election from yesterday that we’ll get into during the 4 o’clock hour, maybe even a little bit later this hour. But somebody asked me yesterday, are we going to do health and wellness today? Well, yes, because staying healthy is still a part of what we need to be doing. And a lot of you probably are a little bit more in higher spirits today than yesterday. So that’s good. Yes. Very much so. Absolutely. So welcome, Andy. Thank you. All right. Bruce Simmons joining us from our reverse mortgage end of things. Bruce, welcome. How are you?
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m doing great. After last night, I’m doing really well.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, that’s kind of the theme probably for this health and wellness is most people, I believe, will be a little bit more upbeat. Yes, I realize there’s some folks out there that are very sad by what happened yesterday. But frankly, Bruce, this will help in lots of areas, including what you do.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, well, I’m sad in a way that our state, unfortunately, did pass a couple of things that I’m not thrilled with. But other than that, it’s good. The only downside is, and I’m not 100% sure why I’m going to delve into it and maybe talk about it on my show this week, but the U.S. Treasury market went really high today. The interest rates went up. believe it or not. And the U.S. Treasuries are the interest rates that we follow in the reverse mortgage world that determine how much money we can loan. And the higher the interest rate is, the lower we can loan. So today we took a big hit on interest rates, unfortunately.
SPEAKER 03 :
Do you think that’s just a temporary thing, though, based upon yesterday? Or what are your thoughts there?
SPEAKER 10 :
It might be. That’s why I want to kind of see what happens the next few days. And I think that the rates have been trending up pretty much since the Federal Reserve lowered the rates. It’s kind of silly.
SPEAKER 03 :
Which they may do again tomorrow, correct?
SPEAKER 10 :
Exactly. Well, that’s one of the things we’re going to be keeping an eye on. Everybody’s expecting a quarter point reduction. And if they don’t do that, interest rates could even go up. They might still go up again even afterwards. I’m hoping they don’t. I just don’t buy into… The fact of people thinking that interest rates are just going to continue to drop all year next year. I’m hoping they do. I keep my fingers crossed. That’s why it’s important if you qualify for a reverse mortgage, if I can loan you enough money to qualify you to pay off an existing loan you have. You should do it now, and then if interest rates fall a year from now, we can refinance you to access additional cash, too.
SPEAKER 03 :
Got it. Okay. So it doesn’t really, in other words, it doesn’t take them out of it. It might affect how much money they could actually borrow and how that would work as far as the first mortgage is concerned that they currently have, but there’s no reason not to ask and see how that works.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s right. We have to be able to loan you enough to pay off your existing mortgage in order to do the loan because the reverse mortgage can be the only loan on the house. But if we can do that, see back in 22, the end of 22 when rates were going up, Everybody was sure in 23 interest rates were going to drop. And there were a lot of people who said, well, I can pay off my mortgage now, but I’m not getting as much money as I wanted to above and beyond that. So I’m going to wait and see what happens in 2023. And now I can’t even help those people at all. I can’t loan them enough to pay off their existing mortgage, even when if they had done it in 2022, they would have had two and a half years or thereabouts. of no mortgage payments, even though we couldn’t add additional money. It would have been saving them all that money in their principal and interest payment. Got it. So maybe I’m getting in too deep.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, no, no. I think that’s perfect. I think you’re explaining it very well.
SPEAKER 07 :
Bruce, let me be really shallow here for a moment. What about the holidays coming up? I mean, people also have a lot. I mean, especially those with big extended family, they have a lot of big expenses coming up. Do you see people maybe jump into getting a reverse mortgage a little quicker at this time of year?
SPEAKER 10 :
Sometimes, yeah, because like you said, it’s hard for grandparents sometimes. They’re on a fixed income, and especially with the inflation we’ve had the last year or two, it makes life difficult for them. They want to buy presents for their grandkids, or they want to help out their family. They want to host Christmas or Thanksgiving, and it’s a lot more expensive. And to be able to eliminate some debt or access additional cash can really help you enjoy the holidays so much more. And it’s just so much easier to enjoy life when you’ve got enough money. Granted, money doesn’t solve all evils, but it can certainly help.
SPEAKER 03 :
But if you’ve got the asset sitting there and you’re not tapping into it, and that would be a help in what you just talked about, why not?
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s right. That’s right. And you talk about Health and Wellness Wednesday. The mental health that this loan provides people is tremendous.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, it’s why I enjoy having you on on Wednesdays, Bruce, because, yes, the stress level, and stress is a big factor. We talk about it a lot on this program, especially on Wednesdays. And what you’re doing can, in a lot of ways, help relieve stress from individuals.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s exactly right. I always tell people the goal of the reverse mortgage is to relieve financial stress.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 10 :
And if you could do that, imagine how the rest of your life can fall into place.
SPEAKER 03 :
Absolutely. Absolutely. Bruce, what’s the best way for folks to find you?
SPEAKER 10 :
Just give me a call at 303- 467-7821, or visit me on my website at reversemortgageradio.net.
SPEAKER 03 :
And if you guys forget that, you can go to klzradio.com or my website, rushtoreason.com, and find Bruce that way as well. Bruce, I appreciate you very much, and we’ll keep an eye on things, and we’ll chat here in the near future.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, looking forward to it.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, Bruce, appreciate it. Have a good rest of your day. We appreciate it very much. And what I was going to start off today, and we got to go on with Bruce really quickly, but, you know, I do have to say this. We now have been unburdened by what has been.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes. You know, until now, I didn’t know what that sentence meant.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, now you do. Now I get it. So now you have a better respect level for Ms. Harris.
SPEAKER 07 :
I do. She makes a lot of sense.
SPEAKER 03 :
Ms. Harris, I should say.
SPEAKER 07 :
She makes good sense.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, it’s really good sense. We’ve been unburdened by what has been. I’m sorry. I just had to. throw that in there all right we’ve got a couple of things to cover today we’ll get into recapping the election from last night have several guests today as well richard battle will be joining us of course at four o’clock like he normally does uh sonny kutcher who by the way has a lot going on with the election results from last night and uh between the two of us we said listen i’ve got plenty going on today she had plenty going on as well so she decided to not join us today so we’ll talk to her next week andy and i therefore will have More time to recap some things, and some of you that want to call in after Richard Battle will be able to do that as well. We’ve got a guest joining us here in just one moment, though, folks, so don’t go anywhere. Hi-Fi Plumbing is next. And, hey, if you found yourself today with any kind of a plumbing problem or an electrical problem with the weather that we’ve got right now, please give Hi-Fi a call today, 877-WE-HI-5.
SPEAKER 20 :
The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest plumbing day of the year. Don’t let your home get stopped up. Just call High Five. During the holidays, your plumbing works overtime. Visitors and guests, big meals, we don’t need to tell you. And when your main line gets clogged, your floor and sink drains can back up, causing flooding. And even if it hasn’t gotten to the point of backing up yet, you still have a big problem that gets bigger every day. It’s recommended that you have a plumbing inspection early, and an inspection from High Five can be scheduled as soon as the same day. For a limited time, they’ll give you an additional $35 off a drain cleaning just for being a KLZ listener. So find out more about what High Five Plumbing, Electrical, Heating, and Cooling can do for you this holiday season by clicking their link on the KLZradio.com Advertisers page.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, and if you’re looking to do something with your doors and windows, maybe you’ve noticed, wow, I’ve got a lot of drafts in the house that I don’t remember having even last year. Well, talk to Dave Bancroft. He’ll help you with that today. 35% off is the starting deal in November. Call Dave. Find him at klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 20 :
Veteran Windows and Doors challenge you to ask every window and door salesperson about the ratings of their windows and doors. Owner Dave Bancroft knows other window and door companies are trained only to sell, not on whether their windows are even engineered for your home. Dave has an app where he can show you the exact door the other company showed you, but Dave will also include the correct efficiency ratings and codes necessary for your home. The other companies’ doors often don’t meet code, energy-efficient ratings, or give you crucial tax credits on your products. Also, Veterans installation methods are far stricter than other companies. They do more flashing, sealing, and installation than is required to ensure your windows and doors are going to work the way they’re supposed to. And Veteran now offers financing. Get 40% off and free installation when working with Veteran windows and doors by going to klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 03 :
Listen online, klzradio.com. Back to Rush to Reason. All right, and welcome. Health and Wellness Wednesday. Appreciate you all listening. Myself, Andy Pate. We’ve got a special guest joining us now, Melissa Hill from the Archer Foundation. Melissa, welcome. How are you today?
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m doing well. Thanks so much for having me.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know what? When this came to me just literally about a week or so ago and they asked, can we get somebody on and talk about the Archer Foundation? I was like, didn’t take me very long to look up what was going on and say, yes, absolutely. We can have you guys on. So number one, what is the Archer Foundation?
SPEAKER 12 :
Yes, absolutely. The Archer Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to families diagnosed with a really aggressive brain tumor called DIPG. Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma is the long term for it. And that brain tumor is located in the brain stem, which makes it really aggressive and really deadly and is primarily diagnosed in young children ages five to nine.
SPEAKER 03 :
So you’re helping literally the foundation is the families of these young kids that have been affected by this. And it isn’t, and I’m reading, it’s the deadliest form of cancer in the United States. So you’re literally helping these families out.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yes, that is our goal is to provide direct support to families. Our own family experienced this. And so we have lived it. We have walked this walk. and came out of it knowing that we had to do something with the experience that we’ve lived.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, I have a little bit of experience not on your level as with the child, but I lost my brother to a geoblastoma a few years ago, so I understand the brain cancer end of things and how devastating it is, how quick it is. The reality is there’s just certain types of brain cancer. As you know, Melissa, there just isn’t any cure to, and the reality is the hardship that that places on a family. I mean, I know what it’s like with my brother and his family and our family. I can’t imagine having a young child with it.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yes. Our little boy, Archer, who is the namesake for our foundation, was diagnosed almost exactly a year ago in October. He is the most incredible kid. He is a sports lover. In fact, he played a football game on Saturday, played a baseball game on Monday night, and then was diagnosed with terminal cancer on Friday. Wow. And he’s the toughest kid ever. Tomorrow’s his birthday. He’s spending his first birthday in heaven, turning seven, but battled this disease for six months. It changed everything about us, changed how we live forever, seeing that battle and knowing that we need to help families who are still going through it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, number one, really quick, Andy, sorry for your loss, Melissa. Again, I don’t, I mean, I say that, I mean that sincerely. I have a little bit of understanding, although not near as much as what you guys have, but it’s devastating. Andy, go ahead.
SPEAKER 07 :
Melissa, when a family gets this terrible diagnosis, how do they get connected with you? I mean, how do they know about you? How do you get alerted about them?
SPEAKER 12 :
So we’re working in partnership with hospitals in the area. We’re based in Texas, so we’re starting here in Texas. But we’re also reaching out to children’s hospitals around the country to do that exact thing, which is connect us to families. Because when we were diagnosed, you’re just lost. You just don’t know what to do. You’ve never heard of this before. You never even knew this was in the realm of possibility for your child. And so that’s where we’re really trying to connect first with hospitals, but then also awareness through opportunities like you’re giving us today. is hearing this from someone else who might know a family going through this is crucial. So for our family, we were so overwhelmed, I could not have Google searched anything if I wanted to. But luckily, that’s where we’re hoping to build awareness for this disease. So when your listeners do hear of someone struggling, they can point them to our website. or to our social media, and we can start supporting those families directly.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I’m assuming, Melissa, that, again, having just a little bit of experience with this on an adult level, I’m guessing that you guys can come alongside a family and help them with, hey, here’s kind of some things to expect and maybe what you guys need to be looking at in all of these different areas, how you speak even to your child and maybe even other family members and so on. Am I thinking correctly along those lines? Yes.
SPEAKER 12 :
You are. And that was a gap for us as well, too, with our family. And we live in the Dallas area, which is a very big urban area. And there was just such a lack of emotional support. As best as they could do, we got. But the diagnosis is so devastating. We felt very much on our own. And so we’re working to build resources to help those families. We have two older boys, two teenage brothers of Archer’s. And it just impacted us all so greatly. And we just felt lost in that moment. And so that’s a critical piece of what we want to do for families. And then also take away some of the worry and burden. Because when you know you only have potentially six months with your child, the last thing you want to do is worry about finances. You want to spend quality time with your little one. And so that’s really where we want to stand up underneath these families and give them that freedom to take care of their kids first.
SPEAKER 03 :
And again, I’ve learned a lot of things about you guys just looking at your website and the different things that are there. And you guys offer all sorts of resources. You can help out whether they’re faith-based or not. I mean, you guys really are there trying to do your best for that particular family with whatever their need is, right?
SPEAKER 12 :
That’s absolutely right. And it’s not dependent on a financial situation. We were incredibly blessed with a strong community of support, and lots of families do have that, but others don’t. But we don’t want our support to be dependent on what their financial situation is, because it may be traveling to a clinical trial. It may be taking a vacation that they never would have been able to take in their last few months with their kiddo. It’s It’s really just about making their quality of life better while they fight for their child’s life.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, their entire world, as you just said, has been rocked. It’s changed. Everything that they’ve known from before will be different from this point forward. And in that case, Melissa, they need folks like you guys that can come alongside them and help them. And believe me, I’ve experienced just, again, a little bit of some of this with some things that we as a family have gone through. And I will just tell you that… having resources around to just even answer questions. What are some of the expectations? What can we as a family kind of expect in the next several months? How does this progress and work? And I just know personally, Melissa, that the more information you have, not that it makes everything easy, but the easier it does make things.
SPEAKER 12 :
You’re absolutely right. And that’s where we really found strength is connecting with other families and connecting with just resources and research. It’s a rare cancer and it’s an aggressive cancer. And so it’s not something you can find just a local support group for. There’s just not that much of it around. And so it takes more effort for a family to really find support. find a group to connect with. And so we hope to start building those bridges for them.
SPEAKER 07 :
Hey, Melissa, those you’ve helped so far, how have they responded?
SPEAKER 12 :
So we’re just getting started. And so we are just connecting with our first families. Archer passed away April 2nd. And so this has been what we focused on since his passing about six months ago. So we are just starting to connect with our families and getting to know them a little bit. And so it’s been incredibly helpful for us in the grieving process as we grieve for our little guy, but also just knowing that we want to be a source for them to help them understand that in a hopeless situation, there’s, there’s love and support around them at all times.
SPEAKER 07 :
Does it just seem to mean a lot to them to get together with someone who understands?
SPEAKER 12 :
Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. And the, every experience is different and every experience will be different. And I’m sure you know from your experience with your brother, too, the disease reacts differently in every patient. But just having someone to say, I don’t understand your exact situation, but I empathize, and our heart breaks in that same way.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, number one, we appreciate you being on with us. If folks want to help out, and I’ve been to the website, and you can make this very easy, folks that are listening, even in regards to donating and so on. But walk us through how does that work, Melissa?
SPEAKER 12 :
Absolutely. You can visit our website, www.archer, and it’s spelled just like an archery, A-R-C-H-E-R. at archer-foundation.org. You can learn more about the disease. You can learn more about our precious boy, who we are so proud of. And I just feel completely blessed to even say his name and talk to you about him. We are so proud of our little fighter. And learn more about what this support can look like. And you can donate directly there. Any amount helps. Our nonprofit is completely volunteer-driven. Every dollar is going towards these families. And so that’s the easiest way to support us. You can also see upcoming events, which are local to us in the Dallas area. But if you’re in town, we would love to have you guys join us. We have some fun things planned just in our family’s goal of living like Archer, which was 100% joy every single day all the way to the end.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, Lord bless you. We appreciate you guys very much. Thanks for what you’re doing. We’ll get the word out. This will be for all of you listening in our show notes that you guys can go back and look at the links and so on if it’s something you want to be involved in, which I would highly recommend you do. You can bless somebody else through the foundation. Melissa, thank you so much for what you guys are doing. And again, our hearts go out to you guys. I can’t imagine the loss, but we’re very, very sorrowful for you guys.
SPEAKER 12 :
Thank you both. I appreciate the opportunity and the time.
SPEAKER 03 :
You’re very welcome, Melissa. Thank you very much. And, I mean, I can’t imagine. Sorry, guys. I just can’t. I mean, I know what it’s like to lose my brother who is in his 50s. That’s hard enough. I can’t imagine losing a 7-year-old.
SPEAKER 07 :
No, and I think that’s why this foundation is so beneficial because everybody it happens to, they can’t imagine, and then at least to be able to talk to somebody who can.
SPEAKER 03 :
And, Andy, again, firsthand experience, I can tell you that having some answers to questions You know, just basic questions as to what are some of the expectations and so on and so forth. I mean, Andy, I’ve lived it. I know exactly what that part’s like. Some of what I’ve been through with my folks here of late, just having resources where you can talk to somebody and they can explain some of these things and what you can expect. It’s I don’t think people realize how huge that is. It’s huge.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and also when it’s coming from people who have actually been through it, it doesn’t come off so clinical. You’re not just having somebody read through articles with you. Absolutely. They’re saying, look, every situation is different, but here’s what we went through. And I just want you to be ready.
SPEAKER 03 :
Here’s some things you may want to expect. Right. Here’s some things you may want to prepare yourselves for. Absolutely. Andy, thank you for that, by the way. I appreciate that. Golden Eagle Financial is next. And as we talked a moment ago about the financial resources that they’re going to help some of these families with, make sure you’re dialed in when it comes to your future finances as well. SPEAKER 03 :
All right. You know what? I’ve talked to a few people here of late where there’s been accidents and things along those lines, and all of a sudden a vehicle purchase is a necessity. In some cases, you’ve got to go out and buy another used vehicle to replace the used vehicle that was totaled because it wasn’t new and there’s not enough money to go do another new vehicle. If that’s you, and some of the weather that we’ve had of late may even cause some of those things, give Ridgeline Auto Brokers a call today. Two locations to service you, RidgelineAutoBrokers.com.

SPEAKER 03 :
All right, we are back. Health and Wellness Wednesday. Appreciate you all joining us. Myself, Andy Pate, and of course, Charlie Grimes, our engineer. Dr. Julie Gatza joining us now. And Dr. Julie, always a joy having you. Thank you for joining us.
SPEAKER 19 :
Thanks for having me on.
SPEAKER 03 :
Fast food. That is a term most people know. Most people understand where it comes from, and typically it means we get it delivered fast and we eat it fast.
SPEAKER 19 :
That’s exactly true.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s kind of both. I mean, and I’m not for all of you listening. I do know that there is a time and a place for it. I personally am one where I do my very best to avoid it. You know, maybe not at all cost. Dr. Julie, there’s that rare occasion where you may have to still, you know, get something there. But it’s one of those things that I learned years ago to really kind of avoid just because I understood back in 2010 that it probably wasn’t helping me get to the destination I wanted to, which was losing 100 pounds.
SPEAKER 19 :
There you go.
SPEAKER 03 :
True. And again, I’m not trying to demonize it because I realize that it’s there at times and people need it. But is it something now that we’ve gotten into such a habit of using that it’s becoming a standard for a lot of folks?
SPEAKER 19 :
I think absolutely. And, you know, the less a younger crowd is cooking and we don’t have moms at home anymore, you know, being homemakers and cooking two to three meals a day. We’ve relied on absolute normalcy that you should be able to go out and get something to eat. And when you really look at it, there’s. There’s really no greatness about eating out when you’re doing fast food.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, no, there’s not. Okay, so some of the reactions, our body, I should say, that we get when we eat fast food, and some of this, I don’t know that you and I have really ever talked about, maybe in passing with some of the other topics and things we’ve covered, but I don’t know that we’ve ever really gone through the actual body reactions that happens inside of us when we actually eat fast food. Go over some of those for us, if you would.
SPEAKER 19 :
Sure. And before I do that, I’ve been focusing on digestive health the whole time I’ve been a doctor for 34 years. And when I go through all these bits and pieces, it all has to do with digestion. So when you do not have a single symptom in the day’s time, it means you have an efficient system. When you have any symptom digestively, it’s basically this body saying, hey, something’s not wrong. You did something wrong and now we’re letting you know.
SPEAKER 11 :
Okay. All right. Good to know.
SPEAKER 19 :
The first five the first five minutes you can have a sugar rush your blood sugar rises you feel a surge of energy you’re happy you ate what you did everyone in the backseat of the car is in a good mood and you’re not regretting anything about eating that meal that you just had 15 minutes you start to get dehydrated so the fast food is loaded with sodium the more you eat the thirstier you become this is where you’re now going to drink the pop the coke whatever it is that came along with that and as an aside When you’re drinking carbonation, it keeps you from absorbing nutrition. So you’ve just put not a very healthy, nutritious meal into the digestive system, and now you’ve put up a brick wall to be able to absorb that food because you’ve put the carbonation in it.
SPEAKER 03 :
And again, I don’t know if you and I have ever talked about this. Why does that happen? What does the carbonation do to make that happen?
SPEAKER 19 :
You should have an acidic digestive system. It’d be like putting a piece of steak in a glass of vinegar. The next morning, that steak looks disgusting. The water’s all cloudy. That’s how your digestive system should be. When you put steak into a glass of soapy water, the next morning, it looks like a piece of steak in soapy water. That’s been alkalized or basic. And what the pops, the carbonation will do is they change your acidic system to alkaline And now you can’t get nutrients absorbed into the body.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. So if you’re going to have, I guess really what you’re telling me is if you’re going to have fast food because it’s one of those things where you absolutely have to do it, order the bottle of water instead of the Coke?
SPEAKER 19 :
Yes, absolutely. And, you know, the coffees and regular tea will do the same thing. So coffee, tea, and pop put a barrier to how you absorb.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. Makes sense. Okay. 20 minutes. We’re going 5, 15, now 20 minutes.
SPEAKER 19 :
So a lot of these foods are fried. You can experience heartburn because it’s slow to digest. It’s spending longer in your stomach. It’s keeping you from actually being able to break down those foods. More acid is being produced, but it’s not being broken down, so it can leak out. Up into the esophagus and now you can experience some heartburn. Not everybody experiences heartburn, but they can feel a too full feeling. Oh my goodness, what did I do? Did I eat too fast? Well, it’s generally the quality of the food with the pop on top of it. And now you have a system that’s feeling overloaded.
SPEAKER 03 :
Keep in mind, this is all within 20 minutes of having that meal. So you’ve pulled in, you ate on the run, maybe you’ve pulled into a parking place quickly. And if you’re the driver, maybe you even did it faster than everybody else because you want to get back on the road. So within five minutes or so, you’re back on the road. You’ve got that sugar rush. You’re doing well. You’re driving well. Things are great. And then we go through dehydration and heartburn as we get further down the road. And then what’s next?
SPEAKER 19 :
And then 30 minutes, you’re feeling bloated. The food’s not broken down. It’s sitting in the gut. It’s fermenting. It’s producing gas. It’s making you feel bloated. Your belly’s sticking out. You want to undo your belt, your first button. And this is where you’re starting to go, huh, maybe I ate too fast. Maybe this, maybe that. Well, it’s basically the food you ate. It’s sitting there not digesting.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, which means that we’re now driving, as you just said, and we’re miserable.
SPEAKER 19 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 03 :
Literally.
SPEAKER 19 :
We’ve been poisoned. So 45 minutes, your sugars will drop as high as you felt in the first five minutes. You get that rapid spike. And then what will happen is it doesn’t go back into a normal. It goes lower than it was. So now you have a mood change. Fifty minutes, you’re kind of in a bad mood. The kids are now, you know.
SPEAKER 03 :
bickering everyone’s not feeling so darn happy anymore and wherever you are now you’ve got a you know a whole bunch of people who aren’t so happy right so now everybody’s grouchy they’re not hangry they’re just angry period because of what they did with the hangriness from earlier and then you say 55 minutes later they now have no concentration
SPEAKER 19 :
That’s right. So and then within 60 minutes, you’ve got inflammation. So you’ll have this inflammatory response because the immune system saying, hey, we’ve got all this undigested food. We’ve got stuff that shouldn’t be in the bloodstream leaking through. And wherever your weak link is, let’s say it’s a low back pain or your hands hurt or you get migraines or something. Whatever it may be, that inflammatory response is then going to go to your weak link and now you’re going to feel lousy and it’s going to carry on for, you know, sometimes days and days and days because it’s now inflammation and you’re not fixing it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Everything you just told me says, why do we eat it in the first place?
SPEAKER 19 :
That’s what I say.
SPEAKER 03 :
Which means, and I know we’ve got some tips on how to beat this, but one of the things I guess I would ask on the front side is, instead of that last order of what you had, burger, fries, nuggets, whatever it happens to be, is there healthier options on the menu we could look at?
SPEAKER 19 :
I mean, there probably are, but, you know, I don’t necessarily, and believe me, I am no angel, but, you know, the healthier options would be to make a whole bunch of chicken and put it in a cooler and have the kids eating that. And, you know, plan ahead where whatever your dinner was the night before, make extra so you’ve got it to, you know, throw in the thing. I just never really see fast food restaurants for myself, and we raised our child the same way, so… It’s one of those that you definitely can get around with it. It’s just a matter of planning ahead and realizing.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, you can’t. Trust me. I’m like you. I’ve lived through that. I know exactly what you’re talking about. Now, for those that maybe this just comes up, they don’t have any choice, there are better choices when it comes to some of the restaurants that are out there, though. How do you know?
SPEAKER 19 :
I mean… I don’t. You’d probably have to do your research on that. I mean, you know, there are probably plain chicken without the bun that you could have and, you know, actually make it a chicken meal, maybe a salad with chicken on it. It’s tough for me. I mean, even the healthier Chipotle, you know, I said to my niece, because I’d eaten there about six times in the past 20 years, and I said, but I always get a stomachache. And she said, yeah, you just get used to that. And I went, oh.
SPEAKER 03 :
I don’t want that.
SPEAKER 19 :
But it was a funny comment because she was like, yeah, we all get it.
SPEAKER 03 :
And one of the other tips when we talked about this a moment ago is just avoiding the carbonated beverages in particular just because of what you talked about earlier. So that’s one of those things where if you’re going to go, at least do something different as far as what you’re drinking.
SPEAKER 19 :
That’s right. That’s right. So, you know, it’s a tricky planet right now. It’s a tricky place. You know, we’ve got a lot of kids playing sports and, you know, moms are, you know, stressed out holding full time jobs and dads are doing the same thing and kids are active. And I mean, there really is. But it’s not like you didn’t know. So it’s a matter of, OK, let’s just plan ahead and, you know, meal prep and get things going and have the kids grab something and a Tupperware in the car on the way that was already planned out on Sunday. And you’ll save money. You’ll save yourself anxiety. The kids will be healthier. You know, they’re going to sleep better. They’re not going to be so up and down mood wise. You’re not going to have weight problems with them circles under their eyes. And, you know, it’s because you’re actually feeding them real food, not stuff that actually poses as food.
SPEAKER 03 :
Talk to us about the enzyme end of things and Absorbate. It’s one of those that I have all the time. I mean, it’s one of those things that’s become a staple in our home for all sorts of reasons. And again, I learned that from you many years ago, but it’s a staple for us. And I will give everybody a testimonial. Does the product work exactly the way Dr. Julie says it does? Yes, 100%.
SPEAKER 19 :
Thank you. I love this product. It’s a natural vegan formula. So the enzymes are coming from plants, and they basically break down the protein. There’s enzymes to break down fats and carbohydrates and the dairy products that we eat. And so what it’s doing is chopping up all those foods the best it can, extracting nutrition from that meal, and then those are going into the bloodstream, and you’re not irritating your digestive system. We aren’t making enough enzymes because of our diet. habits because of our diet, because of our food, because of things that have been put into our food. So taking a natural digestive enzyme like the absorbate, it works wonders. You can take it before your meal, during your meal, after your meal. If you ever have heartburn, if you feel lousy, take the absorbate because it’s simply an aid to you breaking down what should be broken down in your digestive system.
SPEAKER 07 :
Dr. Julie, what’s the difference taking it before, during, or after? Why would you vary it that way?
SPEAKER 19 :
I’m saying it because people will forget.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, I got it. I got it. Okay.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yeah, it’s just waiting for you. If you forget and you’re like, oh, halfway through the meal, I have a bowl of it on my counter. And during these big holidays, I have always encouraged people to take the Absorbade during the appetizers, during the meal, because I want to play games with them later instead of having one flipped on the couch. So, you know, rolling around going, oh, I ate too much and now it’s dessert. So Absorbate helps when you’re healthy and you’re eating well. Absorbate helps when you’re unhealthy and you’re eating poorly, and it helps when you have any of the digestive symptoms that you would run out to Walgreens and go grab the name brand stuff because they’re just covering up the problem, not breaking down the food.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, but if you’re going to play games later and you don’t give it to some people, you’d be at a strategic advantage. True.
SPEAKER 19 :
Good point. They’re not going to play is usually what I’ve found.
SPEAKER 03 :
Ah, okay. Now, and I will say this. To your point, sometimes you may go out to dinner. You forgot to bring some with you. You didn’t take it before you left. You get home. You might have some of the symptoms even that we just mentioned. Or I’ve had a situation where, I don’t know, Dr. Julie, you just don’t know what you ate. Something just didn’t quite agree with you. It might be midnight. All of a sudden you wake up and you’re like, man, I just don’t feel 100%. My gut’s not right. You can take one at midnight. And yes, indeed, folks, it helps.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yes, it does. And interesting enough, because it’s enzymes, you can take it on an empty stomach and it can help with inflammation. So let’s say you’ve got a back pain. You can take a couple at night and instead of having food, it breaks down. It goes and it breaks down inflammation. It breaks down toxins and poisons and viruses and bacteria. So you can’t go wrong. It’s like eating the best of the best of the foods. And it’s in a concentrated little tablet that, you know, works wonders for the body.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, and you’re right. You can take it empty stomach, full stomach, during the meal, after, whatever. You guys decide, you know, it really comes down to memory and what you do along those lines. But to your point, Dr. Julie, yes, I’ve used it in the other ways that you’re talking. And again, folks listening, trust me, I… I’m not being paid to say this. I don’t get free bottles or anything along those lines. There’s a code we’ll give you guys in a minute where you can get a little bit of a discount on it. But, Dr. Julie, I buy it. I use it. I will continue to do so. I’m a firm believer in it.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yeah, me too. I’m glad to hear that.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right. What can folks do if they want to get a bottle?
SPEAKER 19 :
So they can go to the website, which is naturesources.com, and you can get 20% off your order, or you can get some free samples off the website. Or you can call the 1-800 number, which is 1-800-827-7000. If you use the code radio, same thing. You can get 20% off your first order or you can get some free samples.
SPEAKER 03 :
Awesome. As always, Dr. Julie, we appreciate it. I will most likely have you on one more time before Thanksgiving because it fits with what we do around the holidays. So we will talk to you again soon. And thank you again so much. We appreciate it greatly.
SPEAKER 19 :
Me too. Thanks a lot.
SPEAKER 03 :
You’re very welcome, Dr. Julie. Have a great night. And for those of you listening, you can go find Dr. Julie at the Florida Wellness Institute. She’s a co-founder there. We’ve had her on a ton. And I was not – I’ll say it straight up. She’s not here. And if she was, it wouldn’t matter. But I wasn’t – you know me, Andy. I’m kind of a skeptic on certain things.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
And so I’m like, well, okay, I’ll order some. What the heck? Why not? Give it a whirl. The more you use it, it’s one of those products where the more you use it, the more of a believer in it you become. I’ll just say it that way.
SPEAKER 07 :
Great.
SPEAKER 03 :
So it really does work. For those of you listening that struggle with some of what we just talked about, please give… Give her a call, or I should say give them a call. Order that. You get a nice discount, by the way, on that if you’d like. Code Radio gives you that 20% off. Dr. Scott Faulkner, speaking of everything medically speaking, he is a great doctor. SPEAKER 03 :
All right, we are back, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Marty, what’s going on, sir?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, it’s so good to be with you guys right after we could have woken up to a very different country. I don’t know. I had this strange feeling. I’m hoping I’m not just being so jaded. That was too easy. The control was transferred. Remember, Donald Trump was Nazi fascist. He’s going to deport everybody. He’s coming after everything in the LGBTQ. I mean, But now he has all the power in the most powerful country. What’s the other shoe to drop, John? It might be into conspiratorial or thinking, that’s it? That easy? Now we go clean house? What’s going on here?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, I mean, honestly, I think that’s the case, mainly because, Marty, I think the left is very dumbfounded by what actually happened. Believe me, their analysts are looking at everything from, you know, what did the voters do? Which part of the segment did we lose? Which I could already have told them that prior to last night’s election, because I’ve talked about that in the past. You know, Andy and I both have. I really think, Marty, that they are absolutely shell-shocked at what’s what happened and you know will they be riding and things along those lines honestly marty i highly doubt it i think that thereafter and we’ll talk about this a little bit in the next hour i think they’re going to go back they’ve got to revamp their strategy and what they’re looking like moving down the road they completely blew this particular election big time and they had it to lose by the way they picked our candidate they then picked two candidates on their side and they still ended up losing
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s a great point, John, because my other thought was, what if Kamala had run a full-speed campaign, meaning we had access to her for a year, two years, we were exposing her.
SPEAKER 03 :
She wouldn’t have made it as far as she did.
SPEAKER 09 :
Wouldn’t have mattered. And I think that’s the point is, This is the price you pay when you put forward a candidate with that little substance, with that little conviction, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, Marty, having more exposure of the candidate only works if you have a good product.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, she would have made it worse for her, actually.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s what I’m saying.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I agree with you. It would have been the third. We’d have probably been up to number three or four on the Democrat side. And I think that’s really breathtaking. So then, OK, guys. OK, so that’s really good. That sets us up here for this old 75 days between president elect and the inauguration. Right. And I just want to get your instinct because, see, I have for the – since he left January 22nd or whatever, 21, there’s no way they’re going to let him back in control where he would have the ability to prosecute not his enemies but those who have broken the law and hurt people. american people alejandro mayorkas if this was a serious country tried convicted and probably hung to be honest with you for what he’s caused but do you guys see democrats because they’ve already threatened they will not certify this election we’re gonna have to tell the american people is that all big boisterous talk or yeah they will certify they won’t
SPEAKER 07 :
They won’t fight it at all. In fact, Marty, they’re going to do the opposite. For the Democrats, they are already campaigning for 2026 and 2028, and here’s how they’re going to do it. They are going to use this opportunity now to set themselves up as the peaceful transfer of power people, the nice guys, the good guys.
SPEAKER 03 :
Opposite of what happened last time.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right, opposite of January 6th. That’s what they’re going to tout themselves as. So I think they are going to be as peaceful and nice as possible. Now, once Trump gets in and he starts going after, you know, cleaning out. Right, cleaning out. And Trump, by the way, he’s not going to do a revenge tour. That’s not coming. Okay, but he is going to try to clean out some of the deep state because he has to. When he does that, they will demonize him every step of the way.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yep. And that’s where I think, Marty, it’s so important for us to – him, I should say us, our side – to be strategic about the things that he goes after. And even when he’s cleaning house, do it in such a way that it’s very explanatorily to the public as to why he’s doing such things so that can’t be used against us in 2026 and 2028.
SPEAKER 09 :
Totally fair. You’re going to say, hey, for the goodness of the country – We’ve got to tell you what this unelected person was doing with your money and with your security.
SPEAKER 03 :
Even, Marty, what this agency was doing. I mean, you look at some of the three-letter agencies that frankly need a complete revamp or just need to go away completely. Department of Education, for example. Why do we need to double up on that? We look at the actual deficit that we’re at or the debt that we as a country have and the deficit, and you look at the amount of money, the billions that literally go into that agency, and every state can do what they’re doing. That’s doubling up. Why do we need it?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, and the interesting thing is the guy who’s going to be leading the charge a lot of the way is going to be Elon Musk. And Elon Musk is not only going to be able to recommend areas where you cut or change or restructure, but he also owns the largest platform to say why.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. So the communication side, which I’m going to get into a little bit in the 4 o’clock hour as well, Marty, I feel like that’s also, we didn’t talk about this much prior to yesterday, but you have to ask yourself, if Elon Musk didn’t own X, would yesterday have happened the way it did?
SPEAKER 09 :
Boy, it’s a great question because you’re talking about full-speed, full-throttle propaganda right up until election night. I still go back to this. I say that $81 million that they produced in 2020 is now demonstrably – it’s been exposed as a fraudulent number. If you look at Obama and you look – so we know these $65 million, $70 million. Okay. We made it through. I am just telling Christian conservatives that it’s not over, that there’s still expectations, and that there very well could be something that we’re not considering. And the only reason I say it, John, is because they advertised Donald Trump as a man who would basically take you out of your home and kill you because they were suggesting he was Hitler. And for Democrats to scream like that for four years… And then let him win like that. And then not what he didn’t. They’re not warning the American people like they should be screaming to the top of their lungs. The tyrant is coming after you if they really believe in that.
SPEAKER 03 :
And by the way, Marty, some are. I mean, if you go to some of the Facebook pages and groups and so on, trust me, there are some Democrats out there doing that. Their leadership. Their core leadership isn’t. And remember, part of what I said even prior to yesterday was I’ve been reading enough about some of their core leadership where some of them felt like, you know what? We as a party might need a reset. We can survive Donald Trump for four years. It’s not the end of the world. We’ll be fine.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, and CNN loves it because now they’ve got ratings again. They’ve got action again. We can go to the monster. This is what I would say just in closing to the American people. Congratulations. You took an IQ test yesterday. The results are in. You passed.
SPEAKER 03 :
And you defeated Marxism one more time. Yes. Absolutely, Marty.
SPEAKER 09 :
Thank you.
SPEAKER 03 :
You bet. Ben, hang tight. Let’s take a quick break. We’ll come back. I won’t have a lot of time, but we’ll make this quick. Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning is next. Find them at klzradio.com.

SPEAKER 03 :
Now back to Rush to Reason on KLZ 560. All right, Ben, we’ve got two minutes. Go ahead, sir.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, I’d like to comment your last caller said about, you know, we passed an IQ test, and unfortunately about, whatever, 45% or 47%, they don’t have that mental capacity.
SPEAKER 03 :
They have a different IQ.
SPEAKER 08 :
Inclination.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah. But I am so happy. I mean, at the end of the day, it’s like Churchill said, Americans can be counted on to do the right thing after they’ve tried everything else. And I’m glad we got the memo early. And if we have time, I can do an impression of Trump if you’d like. Go for it. We won. We won. We beat them so bad. They lost. They lost like dogs. I don’t know what Kamala was thinking. They’re Biden. We got them. We got them good. It was a deal. It was a good deal for the American public. We got people out there like John Rush. He’s got his crew there, his people, and the Broadford Broadcasting. They did a good job. They’re for a conservative America. We won. These are the best things for the American public. We’ve got them on the run now. We’re going to take the advantage, and we’re going to free the people. It’s going to be a better government, a new day. I like it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Good job, Ben. You’re in. You’re hired. Good job. You’re it, man. Appreciate you, Ben, very much. And I don’t think I can top that.
SPEAKER 07 :
No, I can’t. That was good, Ben.
SPEAKER 03 :
I enjoyed it. I appreciate that very much. And, you know, honestly, though, and I’m going to talk about this in the 4 o’clock hour, Andy and I will, there’s several factors. Communication, what Ben just talked about, even with radio, Crawford Broadcasting, some other stations like ours that were out there on the forefront doing the things that we’re doing, bringing the light, some of the things that were happening in the country. Did some of that have an effect? Frankly, yes. In fact, I believe it absolutely did. And I’ll talk about some of the other things that I think the left has totally forgotten about in the messaging and what it takes now to win elections. We just proved yesterday is changing, meaning even as a state – We’ve got to do things differently than we’ve ever done before. That next, don’t go anywhere. Hour two is right around the corner. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m a rich guy.
Tariffs, Truckers, and Tragedy: Politics Meets the Road
