SPEAKER 04 :
It’s the Kim Munson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
SPEAKER 16 :
The socialization of transportation, education, energy, housing, and water. What it means is that government controls it through rules and regulations.
SPEAKER 04 :
The latest in politics and world affairs.
SPEAKER 16 :
Under this guise of bipartisanship and nonpartisanship, it’s actually tapping down the truth.
SPEAKER 04 :
Today’s current opinions and ideas.
SPEAKER 16 :
On an equal field in the battle of ideas, mistruths and misconceptions is getting us into a world of hurt.
SPEAKER 04 :
Is it freedom or is it force? Let’s have a conversation.
SPEAKER 16 :
Indeed. Let’s have a conversation. And welcome to the Kim Munson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You’re each treasured. You’re valued. You have purpose today. Strive for excellence. Take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. Thank you to the team. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. Happy Monday, Producer Joe. Happy Monday, Kim. And it is Holy Week, and we’ll talk a little bit more about that. But let’s get through some of the things that we like to make sure that you know, and that is check out the website. That is kimmunson.com. While you’re there, make sure you’re signed up for our weekly email newsletter that goes out on Sundays. That way you will get first look at our upcoming guests as well as our most recent essays. You can email me at kim at kimmunson.com. The text line, some of you have said, please mention that several times. It is 720-605-0647. And thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice on an independent station searching for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force. Force versus freedom. Something’s a good idea. You shouldn’t have to force people to do it. And it’s not compassionate nor altruistic to take other people’s stuff, whether or not it’s their property, freedom, livelihoods, opportunities, lives, or their childhoods via force. And force can be a weapon, but we see it policy and unpredictable and excessive taxation. and fear, coercion, government-induced inflation. This agenda by the World Economic Forum and the globalist elites playing out at the United Nations, this Colorado state legislature, this Colorado governor, he’s not a libertarian, land use codes, zoning regulations, force fees, conservation easements, national monument designations, The list goes on and on. That’s why we do this show is to help you get your brain around these issues. Remember, if something’s a good idea, shouldn’t have to use force to implement it. And on the show, we focus on the issues and not the personalities. We’ll talk about people pushing the issues. But when when you have pundits that are focusing on the personalities, they’re not focusing on the issues. And we need to focus on the issues here. And so we are certainly focused on doing that. Wanted to say thank you to Laramie Energy for their gold sponsorship of this show. It is reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant energy from oil, natural gas, and coal that powers our lives, fuels our hopes and dreams, and empowers us to change our own personal climate. The show comes to you 6 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday. First hour is rebroadcast 1 to 2 in the afternoon. Second hour, 10 to 11 at night. That’s on all KLZ 560 platforms, KLZ 560 AM, 100.7 FM, the KLZ website, the KLZ app. I hear that we come in loud and clear. If you say, Alexa, play KLZ. The broadcast reach is north into Wyoming, south into New Mexico, east into Kansas, Nebraska, and west into the mountains. However, you can listen to us anywhere in the world on the app or on the website. I am so pleased to have in studio with me a great friend of mine, and that is Congressman Greg Lopez. Great to have you here.
SPEAKER 11 :
Hey, Kim. It’s a pleasure to be here this morning with you.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and it’s Holy Week this week, so a big week in the Christian faith. And you’ve been on quite the adventure. Really, I think since maybe the last time you were on the show, a lot has happened. You were in Washington for a while. And what was it like?
SPEAKER 11 :
You know, it was really a great opportunity for me. You know, I tell people, you know, going to Congress, it really is an honor and a privilege to be selected by your peers, right? Your neighbors and your friends to say, hey, we want you to go up there and be our voice. We want you to fight for us. You know, and just walking those hallways and just being in the floor, the House floor, where the decisions are being made. I mean, if that doesn’t make you proud to be an American, I don’t know what does. But you know what? It’s one of the things that I will always cherish. You know, I want to thank all the people that sent me there because these are memories that I never thought I would ever have, specifically coming from the background that I do, right? I come from humble beginnings. I don’t come from a lot of money. But at the end of the day, you know, it’s something that I’ll always cherish.
SPEAKER 16 :
It’s a pretty big deal, this kid from Dallas, Texas, that ends up in the halls of Congress. It’s an amazing country when you really think about it. What would you say is one of the things that you really learned while you were there?
SPEAKER 11 :
You know, one of the things that I really learned is that, you know what, our voice does matter. You have to be cognizant, though, about all the noise that’s around you and focus, like you were saying earlier, right? Focus on the issues and make sure that you’re focusing and fighting for the people. Always fighting for the people, not for the political pundits, not for the message of the day, but more about what’s more important. Because you’ve got to look into the future. You’ve got to make decisions that are futuristic, not just for what’s going to happen this year, but in the future. And at the end of the day, it’s making sure that we protect our nation.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, well done. What I see happening down at this statehouse, they certainly are not. Well, maybe they are looking at the far reaching effects, but we’ll talk about that a little bit more. Our word of the day and the challenge for our listeners is to use this in a sentence today. And it is egregious and it is E-G-R-E-G-I-O-U-S. And it could be conspicuously bad or offensive or flagrant. And as we were preparing for the show, you mentioned something that you think I would say is pretty egregious. And that is what they’re doing regarding Tabor.
SPEAKER 11 :
That’s right. And with tomorrow being tax day, right? Tomorrow’s April 15th. Ouch. I know. And here we are with Tabor. You know, the people that voted Tabor in back in 1992 recognized that it’s important to put caps on government spending. And here we now have a resolution that they want to introduce that after 33 years, they’re asking the question, is it really constitutional? Is it really constitutional after 33 years? And we both know the only reason they want that answer is because they’re $1.2 billion in debt that they have to balance the budget And so because of their mismanagement of the budget, they’re trying to figure out a way, how are we going to find this money? And TABOR is the only tool by which every Coloradan can receive a refund when the state is doing very well economically.
SPEAKER 16 :
When it overcollects our money.
SPEAKER 11 :
Exactly. And all of a sudden, they want to take that away from us. And that is egregious. Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, it is egregious. And Greg, I think, as you know, I have this volunteer gig with a bunch of other fabulous. Well, I should with my other volunteers are fabulous. I want to make sure I get that correct. And that is the my fellow members on the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. And I want to give them a quick shout out. Sure. That is Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill. Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Ramey Johnson, Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, Corey Onozorg, Paula Beard, and Ray Beard. These people are doing amazing work for the people of Colorado. We’d love to have you join us. It’s only $25 a year. That’s $2.08 a month, which is less than most cups of coffee around here these days. And you will receive on Mondays, which we’ll be sending out today, our positions on a number of bills. And we are reviewing 18 for this week. We’ve already taken positions on 222 bills. Wow. Which is monumental work. But TABOR, Colorado’s Taxpayers Bill of Rights, is one of the things that we’re focused on protecting. And basically it’s about good manners. And it says to PBIs, politicians, bureaucrats, and interest parties. And there’s a difference between politicians and statesmen. I bet you saw that down in Congress. And that is, hey, PBIs, if you want to raise our taxes, you have to ask us. If you want to incur debt we have to pay, you just have to ask us. And if you, Colorado government or other governments, have overcollected revenue from us and you want to keep that excess revenue, you just have to ask us. It’s all about good manners. Mm-hmm. And so with that, the other thing is there’s been workarounds on taper. And I saw that as I was reviewing these bills. And so what they have done, it’s been very tricky, is they’ve taken out of the revenue calculations different numbers that won’t be included. So therefore, all that money over there is not under the taper cap. And Greg, we have people out there that are saying capitalists are greedy. Now, I think cronyists are greedy, but capitalists, the free exchange of value, is not. But what could be more greedy than politicians, bureaucrats, and interested parties saying we want to keep all of it?
SPEAKER 11 :
I know. I mean, that’s again, you know, we have lost the ability for the people to actually let their elected officials know what they want. Right. They’ve they’ve flipped it upside down. You know, it’s about people. It’s not about the politics. And right now we have legislatures that are telling the people this is what we’re going to do to you. This is what we’re going to do for you. Yes. And take from you. Right. All these types of things. And it should be like you said. you should ask us what it is that you want to do with our money. This is our money. That’s not your money. And they lose sight of that. You know, it’s easy to spend other people’s money because you’re not being held accountable. And this is what Tabor was all about. Look, Tabor was brought in because we recognized here in Colorado that government can run amok and government can overspend and they’re going to tax us even more. And so we put that in place to make sure that we had a means by which we could always let the elected officials know that we’re watching and now they want to remove it and this is again you know you got to think about it why after 33 years they’ve decided that maybe this is unconstitutional my gut tells me that the people that are sponsoring this were probably only 14 and 15 years old when tabor was passed and they don’t have the history of what the intent of it was
SPEAKER 16 :

We’re an independent voice and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And did want to mention Hooters Restaurants, a great sponsor of both the Kim Munson Show and America’s Veterans Stories. If you missed it, for America’s Veterans Stories yesterday, we replayed an interview that we did with Jimmy Doolittle’s granddaughter. And she, the Doolittle raids were, let’s see, I don’t have the exact date here. Hold on just a second. I’ll get it for you. It was like this weekend or this week. And let’s see, April 18th, 1942, it was in response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. in 1941, and so we did this great interview with Jimmy Doolittle’s granddaughter, and we rebroadcast that yesterday, but you can catch it this Sunday evening, 10 to 11 p.m., or next Sunday evening, or the next Saturday evening, 10 to 11 p.m. as well. And so let’s see here. Let’s get over here to Mike Rollick. He has been watching a lot of this legislation down at the Statehouse, and he wanted to give us an update on Mike, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 08 :
Hi, good morning, Kim. How are you?
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, I am well. And there’s a lot of stuff happening down at the Statehouse, but you wanted to give us an update on a few things.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, actually, there’s a fair bit of stuff happening. But right now, one of the things I’ve been really watching is the Senate Bill 25011, which should be using the AI wildfire detection cameras across the state here. It looks like nothing’s been scheduled. It passed a few committees, but I’m not seeing any floor work or any final votes in either the Senate or the House. That’s good news, and I would ask that people just continue the engagement. Something might actually be taking effect there. Have you heard anything recently on that one either? I haven’t.
SPEAKER 16 :
So let’s just – I have not. And let’s just run this through. So every bill that’s introduced has to have at least a hearing, right? But now that we get to this point, this thing could go away if they don’t do all the floor work and all. Is that right, Mike? I should know that, but I don’t know for sure.
SPEAKER 08 :
As far as I understand as well, because the floor work, they have first, second, and third readings, and the third reading should be the final vote. Looking at the website right now, I have not seen any final votes or any records of actual full legislative body floor work. It passed through three committees and it just seems to have been some form of stalled out. So, you know, if everybody out there is concerned about this, I would definitely say it’s a great time to email your representatives prior to any kind of floor work.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. And because if it doesn’t continue on, we could stop this. And this is really egregious as far as surveillance upon people, primarily in rural Colorado, correct?
SPEAKER 08 :
I would see it that way. Remember, this is a third-party company or any number of third-party companies, but one of the notable ones would be Pano AI, and there’s others that will do this as well. But it’s a third-party company that will make the government a customer of the information. So they have the information, and then a government or a fire protection district what have you, would subscribe to that information. We don’t give any transparency. And I’ve asked for a citizen watchdog portal, things like that, to understand if things are being pixelated and what have you. I know there was an amendment to make sure that these contracts had to mention criminal evasion of privacy. But how would a victim know that they were a victim if we can never actually see the final product?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, definitely. So this is and I appreciate you getting this on our radar and cut is a no position on that as well. The Colorado Union of Taxpayers. What else is on your mind right now, Mike Rolick?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, big one right now, HB 25, 1169. It’s commonly referred to the Yigbee or Yes and God backyard where they would like to. start having developments on land that was owned by churches or educational institutions. That’s up for Senate floor work today. Colorado Municipal League actually calls us unconstitutional. I know City of Nevada is in an official no position as well. I would ask that if anyone could reach out to their Senate. It did pass the House, unfortunately, and it really reduces a lot of the local control. you can’t the building heights are are restricted so so in a sense that you you can’t have a a local building height restriction in certain situations here uh density restrictions are are now thrown out the window as well so if there’s a local density restriction it wouldn’t apply and Everything I’ve read here says it is an administrative decision, i.e. a case manager or planning and zoning making the final call as compared to your city council or county commissioners, which would then be a quasi-judicial. That’s done away with. It becomes administrative. And remember, this is interesting because when you start putting one bill on top of another on top of another through the years, Do you remember HB 24-1107? It was the chilling effect on the appeals, the Rule 106 appeals. Do you remember that from last year?
SPEAKER 16 :
Kind of, yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
There’s so much. Okay, so basically at that point, it says anytime a citizen wants to appeal or a citizen group wants to appeal a development now of a density of five dwelling units or more, if they lose then you have to pay the city or county’s attorney’s fees, which breaks from the American rule and goes towards the British rule. They originally wanted it to be that we would have to pay for the opposing side, i.e. the developer and the city or county attorney fees for any appeal. But through citizen engagement, we got it to the point where it was five dwelling units or more and only the city or county fees. But still, if you’re looking at unchecked density, on church land, that could be your only avenue to appeal this type of thing, and then you could be up against paying the other side’s fees. Even a very well-founded Rule 106 case has usually about a 20% chance of winning.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and also think about this, Mike Rolick, because many times I think developers are strong-armed into giving land dedicated for schools that may not be used for schools. So the school districts own this land, and they’ve owned it for all these years, not paying any, to the best of my knowledge, not paying any property taxes on it. And now they could potentially go around zoning codes and put in high density three or four story or five or six story buildings. It depends. I don’t have the exact details on that, so I should be careful on that. But they could put in high density, multi floor units in neighborhoods on school property, probably because it would be under affordable under the affordable housing would not be taxable. As far as property taxes, it opens up all those kinds of things that could happen. Right.
SPEAKER 08 :
I would tend to agree. The details are still formulating because the final version is not passed and the Senate is looking at it today. So all those concerns, I think, should get brought up. And one more thing I really want to quickly bring up is we have a vote May 6th of this year for all the fire protection districts. and i don’t know if people are engaged with this but fire protection districts were given a very new power hb 25 1009 passed and became law and that’s the vegetative fuels they can develop a program now where the fire protection districts can actually fine you for having vegetative fuels on your land They have to give a first notice and I believe a second notice now that that was an amendment. And they can fine you $200 per incident not to exceed $1,200. That’s it. huge new power. I was in there for testimony on the incipient phase of this. I hadn’t followed it that well, but now I’m seeing that they actually put in an amendment that says they can’t access your property without permission and can’t use drone photography. However, they could still use satellite imagery. I’ve heard about this when it came to certain insurance companies and trampolines way back in the day. So maybe they could use satellite imagery, aviation photography, or even NOEI, for all I know. You know, an off-label use. But the thing here is vegetative fuels is very ill-defined, and the fire protection districts are able to put this together, and they have to have an actual hearing and a vote process So I think this election is really important. Have you heard about that one yet?
SPEAKER 16 :
I do remember seeing that when I was going through things for CUT. And I appreciate you making us think a little bit more about that. Regarding these fire protection districts, I really appreciate our firefighters and our police officers. However, as I go by and I take a look at these new fire stations, they look like… Bricks. They’re very, very good-looking buildings, I would put it that way. I’m thinking I’m paying too much in taxes, but that’s just a side note. One more. What’s the last thing you want to have people know about, Mike Rollick?
SPEAKER 08 :
You know, HB 25-12-14, the use of prison beds, got a pretty good amendment there. Again, this became between citizen pressure and also when I was sitting on the testimony, sheriff. and local municipality pressure. They got rid of the, the idea that as soon as someone came up for the parole time, they would automatically get their parole. So now it goes back to a parole board. So again, this is good. This is stemming that tide. I think legislators need to hear. They might think they have a good idea, and then maybe they haven’t seen the other side of that idea. So that was actually taken out by the sponsor and amended. So that was a really good thing. However, I’m still pretty concerned about the fact that it would compel a court to look at class five and class six felonies in this lens. It would have to make sure you went through reasonable, appropriate sanctions and supportive services available to the court have been tried and failed and do not appear to be successful or present an unacceptable risk to public safety. That’s a very strange bar to me to have a court be forced to look at in the sense of a classified felony, which could include human trafficking. I understand that they have the present an unacceptable risk to public safety clause in there. But I think that we’re kind of diving into the realm of the courts and of what the judges should already be doing. I don’t know if it really needs to be legislated. This seems to kind of soften their judicial power.
SPEAKER 16 :
Wow. Mike Rolick, you are doing amazing work. Thank you for the update. And then we’ll try to have you on again very soon for another update on that. We’re going to be prerecorded for the balance of this week. So let’s see what your schedule looks like next week, and we’ll try to get you on for an update. We’re an independent voice, and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And do check out the Center for American Values. That website is AmericanValuesCenter.org. And the center is located down in Pueblo, Colorado. And they focus on these foundational principles of honor, integrity, and patriotism. And they have some great educational programs for kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as their Medal of Honor Portraits of Valor, which are amazing, and then these On Values presentations. I will be down there on Wednesday. to emcee the event. I got it wrong in the newsletter. I said Wednesday the 12th. It was Wednesday the 16th. So I’ll be down at the Center on the 16th. And also check out Drew Dix’s podcast. He’s the Medal of Honor recipient and co-founder of the Center. And you can get all that at AmericanValueCenter.org. In the studio with me is my friend, do I say former Congressman Greg Lopez or do I say Congressman? Because my understanding is once you have been in that position, You do have that, it’s kind of like a Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine. So once a Congressman, always a Congressman?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yes, that’s the political correctness, right? Is that once you have a title, that is your title. So, you know, Congressman would be fine, former Congressman. The idea is that we’re recognizing the level. That service. Right. Okay. Of the elected position, yes.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, so lots is going on in our world. So what’s going on in your and Lisa’s life?
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, you know, I mean, we’ve been focusing now that we’re back in Colorado, right? We were back and we’re looking at what’s going on in the state and we’re looking at, you know, what is actually happening to the quality of life of people, right? The struggles that we’ve had over the last several years and, you know, watching what’s happening at the legislature, like these bills that Mike was talking about, right? As you’re talking, I was looking at, I was recalling as a former mayor and city manager, I understand all these land use zonings. I understand- the reason why schools and churches were given land and that type of stuff. And we got to be very careful in how we repurpose those lands because the design of the roads, access to emergency vehicles, all those types of stuff. But, you know, I think it’s important for us to never give up on Colorado and what the future is going to be. And so for that, I do have an announcement that I wanted to share with you. And that is that I am now, and I encourage everybody to go to my website, greglopez.co, and listen to the video that I am officially jumping in for the governor’s race of 2026. Wow. Wow. Yeah. And I’m doing this because as we’re talking, right, the elected politicians, they’re not listening. They haven’t been listening to the people for the last eight years. And we know that they’re not listening because I’ve been talking to ranchers and farmers and small business owners and just general people. And they’re saying, Greg, the things that are happening at the Capitol Capitol. That’s not representing us. You know, they’re passing over 600 bills every single year. That’s not right. You know, we don’t even understand some of the things that they’re doing. But they’re forcing all that stuff, like you keep saying, right? If it’s a good idea, we shouldn’t have to be forcing it. And we need to have a voice. And that’s why I’m going to be fighting for the people, fighting for Coloradans that understand that our quality of life is being impacted by the legislature and all the bills that they’re passing.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and Greg Lopez, thank you for announcing this on our show. Really appreciate that. And I have had a couple of other Republicans that have announced for governorship who I have great regard for, and that is Mark Baisley and Scott Bottoms, Senator Mark Baisley, Colorado Senator and Colorado Representative Scott Bottoms. And so it’s a very high-quality field.
SPEAKER 11 :
It is. Look, they’re great men, right? I know them personally. I think we all have some good ideas, but ultimately what I’m looking at is we must be able to win. We must be able to move forward and engage. I’ve been forming coalitions for the last seven years. I’ve been talking to a lot of people. I understand what is happening, and I keep my hand on the pulse of what is happening. really bothering people, the voters. And I think right now the Democrat Party, as well as the Hispanic vote, the minority vote, they’re all looking for a new direction. They’re looking for brighter days. It’s time for us to turn the page and make Colorado Colorado again. And that’s exactly what I plan to do. And I’m creating a movement, Kim. I’m not just running a campaign. Our tagline is people over politics. And people want to be heard again. And that’s what our founding fathers were all about. And so we’re going to create a movement because it’s time for every elected official at every level of government that they understand that they must listen to the people and make sure that they’re representing the people in its totality.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, you mentioned Hispanic and you have Hispanic heritage, which there’s a big portion of the Colorado population that is Hispanic. And I feel they probably haven’t been heard. What’s your fingers of the pulse on that?
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re absolutely correct. The Hispanic community has always been the community that doesn’t bang on the tables, isn’t out there protesting. They are very cognizant of the rule of law and the process. But they are feeling like they’ve been ignored, that they’re invisible. But that sleeping giant is awakening. The economic power of the Hispanic community is growing. The political influence is growing. You know, at this past election, you saw President Trump was able to get a lot of the Hispanic community to vote for him because they were sick and tired of the open border. They were sick and tired of everything that was going on, the cost of living, the inflation. And so they’re looking for a better quality of life. And they’re looking for someone that actually understands their community, that actually understands where they come from, and can actually be a voice that they can get behind. And this is what’s happening. right now here in Colorado.
SPEAKER 16 :
Greg Lopez, it seems to me that Democrats have conflated the issue of illegal immigration and have given people the impression that Hispanics like illegal immigration. Is that what your experience is?
SPEAKER 11 :
No, no, no. Kim, I’m here to tell you, you know, the Hispanic community, the Hispanic Americans do not want the border open. They do not. And the reason they don’t, and I’m one of them, the reason we don’t is because it does shed a black eye on our community. And we’re sure legally. We’re citizens. We want them to come, but they must come legally. They must come in the way that the rule of law says that we want them to come in.
SPEAKER 16 :
And no jumping the line, right?
SPEAKER 11 :
And no jumping the line, right? And because right now the government is telling all those individuals that are not citizens, you get to go to the front of the line and all citizens have to go to the back of the line.
SPEAKER 16 :
Or other people trying to legally get in.
SPEAKER 11 :
Exactly. And so this is where the Hispanic community is saying, no, we are not of that mindset. We want safe communities. We want economic opportunity. We want our children to learn and have a prosperous future. And we must continue to do what America is all about, is have people do it correctly. So I’m here to tell everybody that’s listening, the Hispanic community does not like the borders being open, and they don’t like Tren de Arregua. They don’t like MS-13. All those violent individuals must be deported.
SPEAKER 16 :
So it’s okay with you if they’re deported? Yes, of course. What percentages regarding the Hispanic population in Colorado, what is that approximately?
SPEAKER 1 :
22%.
SPEAKER 11 :
22% of the population of Colorado is Hispanic.
SPEAKER 16 :
Have they typically voted Democrat, Republican, not voted? What do you know from the demographics of that?
SPEAKER 11 :
I can tell you, you know what, the Hispanic community, I was talking about earlier, they feel invisible. You know, 52% of the Hispanic community is registered to vote, but 48% is not. And these are Hispanic Americans. And they’re not voting because they’ve told me, Greg, we voted for Democrats and nothing changes for us. We voted for Republicans and nothing’s changed for us. So they’re looking for an opportunity to move forward. And they’re seeing now that President Trump is actually moving the needle and actually doing the things that they want. And so they’re looking for a connection. They’re looking for someone that can truly represent their interests of their families and someone that understands their culture. Look, I’m bilingual. English is my second language. You know, I can walk into any community in Denver as it pertains to Hispanic community. And I’m welcome because I’m one of them. And so this is what they’re looking for.
SPEAKER 16 :
So on the Democrat side, as you mentioned, you’re Hispanic. And over the years, I’ve heard you share that when you walk in, people say you’re a Republican. And I guess you were not always a Republican, though, right?
SPEAKER 11 :
No, you’re right. Absolutely right. You know what? I am like most Hispanics, right? The mantra was the Republicans are for the rich and the Democrats are for the poor. That’s the mantra that a lot of us grew up with. When I started to realize that that’s not the true mantra, that it’s the Republicans that care about individual freedom, that care about prosperity, that want to encourage small business owners to be successful. And they want to make sure that, you know what, we’re not giving out a handout, that we are helping them establish a foundation by which they can build their futures. That’s what Republicans stand for. Now, I change parties as a sitting mayor. in 1994.
SPEAKER 16 :
Interesting.
SPEAKER 11 :
I was a sitting mayor when I changed parties, you know, and a lot of people were like, like you said, some of the questions was, well, why are you changing parties? Right. And what I told him was, look, some men will change their values and beliefs for the sake of the party. Others will change parties for the sake of their values and beliefs. And that’s what I did. I change parties because my values and beliefs are more in line with the Republican Party because they fight for freedom, faith, and prosperity, which is what all Hispanic community wants to do. So I’m here to tell you, the Hispanic community is conservative. They’re voting Republican now, and they’re moving in that direction because they recognize they’ve been lied to, and they’ve been ignored, and they’re not watching out for the best interests of their family. The Democrats are not.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and Greg, as you mentioned these values for the Hispanic population, I actually think that that’s the values of almost all Coloradans.
SPEAKER 11 :
It is. It definitely is. And that’s what makes America great. And I think that’s what we’re going to continue to do in putting this movement forward. People over politics. That is the movement that this campaign is going to ignite in the state of Colorado because we want everybody to understand that people – It’s what drives the future of our nation. It drives Colorado into that golden era where we are gonna again make Colorado Colorado again.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, Greg Lopez is in studio with me. He just announced that he’s running for governor here in Colorado in 2026. We want to continue the discussion with Greg as we move on. I had not shared with you, though, the quote of the day. And I pulled this from St. Augustine. He was born in 354 and he died in 430 in Algeria. And he is just a real influence upon the Christian faith. And the pastor yesterday quoted St. Augustine, so I was looking for quotes. I loved this one, Greg Lopez. St. Augustine said this, The truth is like a lion. You don’t have to defend it. Let it loose and it will defend itself. You’ve heard this one before, huh?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yes, yes. And it’s so true. It really is.
SPEAKER 16 :
And that’s why we do the show. That’s right. So we’ll continue on here in just a moment. But for everything mortgages, reach out to Lauren Levy.
SPEAKER 10 :
We’ll be right back. If you’d like to explore what a reverse mortgage can do for you, call Lauren Levy at 303-880-8881. That’s 303-880-8881.

Thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice, and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And check out the USMC Memorial Foundation’s website. That is usmcmemorialfoundation.org. They are going to have their second annual Memorial Golf Tournament on the 15th of May out at the Ridge in Castle Rock. And it’s a great way to support the memorial, meet some great people, have a great round of golf. More information, go to usmcmemorialfoundation.org. That is usmcmemorialfoundation.org. In studio with me is former Congressman Greg Lopez. You just announced that you’re running for governor on the Republican side of the ticket. Let’s talk about the Democrats. The Democrats likes to make it look like they’re a big tent. Currently, the two frontrunners over there, Michael Bennett, Senator, and Phil Weiser, Attorney General, they actually are the… of the descriptors that they always like to say that, I’m just going to say it, they’re both older white guys. I’m just going to say that on the Democrat side. And certainly I don’t look to the identifiers, which politics, that’s one of the things they really push on the Democrat side. I look for values. But I just find it a little ironic that it’s a couple of white guys over there. Yeah. I won’t let you, you don’t need to address that whatsoever. But they look like the competition. I was reading some things on the Internet this week, this weekend, and apparently Bennett voted to confirm Chris Wright with Liberty Energy as the secretary of the Department of Defense. Energy, right? And so there are those on the left that are not happy with him about that. But he may have put that vote in there because he knew he was going to make this run. And Chris Wright, I think, is a great selection. And my understanding, just very good for energy. So I could see strategically that. Then you’ve got Phil Weiser over here, which is the Trump hater, if you will. So they’re going to try to differentiate themselves that way. So what’s your thoughts about the Democrat side?
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, you know, I think you hit the nail on the head when you talk about the The imagery, what is happening, right, and some of the strategy that’s going on because they’re about political careers. They’re not about the people. They’re trying to figure out how do I promote myself? How do I vote or how do I champion certain things, you know, that’s going to ignite the voters to come out and support me? They’re forgetting about the hardworking men and women here in Colorado that are struggling every day. One of the things that my campaign is going to do, Kim, is we’re going to do a listening tour, right? And I encourage everybody to go to my website, greglopez.co. Right now, there’s a landing page where you can share with me, what is your Colorado dream? What is your Colorado nightmare? What is keeping you up at night? Let me know what it is that you are struggling with here in the state of Colorado, because those are the things that we’re going to address as we move forward. And so it’s going to be very interesting to see the debates or the battles between the two Democrat candidates. Because right now, both of them are not in touch with what’s going on in Colorado. Like you said, Senator Bennett, I know him. I sat down with him when I was in Congress. We had a great conversation. But he’s not keeping his hand on the pulse of what’s happening in rural Colorado. He’s not keeping his hand on the pulse of what’s happening in the urban corridor. He’s got his own ideas. And this is where we’re going to have a difference is we’re going to make sure that our movement really focuses on the concerns of the people of Colorado.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and I would say one of the first things is safety, and we alluded to that regarding – you mentioned Trin-O-Ragua. Right. And apparently they have their headquarters here in Colorado.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yes. And they’re not nice guys. No, they’re not. Look, and I – I tried to tell everybody back a year ago that this was going to be their headquarters because when I went down to the border, down to McAllen – now, my family clan comes from Texas, and we are from the Rio Grande Valley. So I know McAllen. I know that border very well. I have family down there. And when I went there to investigate – and listen, those agents, those border agents told me – Greg, this is going to be the headquarters of Trenarregua in Colorado, in Denver. We’ve been told that by the cartels of the people we’re catching. And the reason being is because of the highway system that you guys have and that it’s a sanctuary state and a sanctuary city. As much as people want to deny that, it is a sanctuary state and a sanctuary city. And they’ve sent out that message long and wide. And so those are the types of crimes we need to take off our streets. And so crime is a big issue. When moms are afraid to take their kids to the park, when moms are afraid to go out and just go for a jog, you know, think about it. If you haven’t driven down to downtown Denver or any of the surrounding areas and you’re at a stoplight, You’re going to be shocked when people come onto your car trying to wash your windshield.
SPEAKER 16 :
Into your space.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah. Into your space. Exactly. Right. I mean, this is very interesting as I watch this evolve and change. Safety is at the forefront of moms and dads when it comes to their kids and when it comes to their property.
SPEAKER 16 :
Next thing, you mentioned this highway, this pipeline right up I-25. Well, I saw this report from the Center Square that said that Colorado is 43rd in the nation regarding how taking care of highways. So the strategy must be that if we can stop people from coming up I-25 from the border with all these potholes and terrible highways, maybe that’s the strategy. But I don’t think Coloradans like this strategy.
SPEAKER 11 :
No, they don’t. And look, that’s why when I was in Congress, I initiated a letter to the Secretary of Transportation, Pete Goodrich, and said, look, there’s a problem in Colorado. People are dying. I had the chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Representative Sam Graves, along with the chairman of the Budget Committee, Jody Arrington, Myself and Representative Lauren Boebert and Representative Doug Lamborn saying there is a problem in Colorado. We need to look at it. We need to bring a committee because they’re receiving federal funding and they’re violating the safety requirements and the safety issues and it’s causing people to die here in Colorado. Now, that was… A big story through all the networks. CDOT denied it. CNOT says, no, we’re doing everything right. But I have documentation, and I have people that have said, look, CDOT’s engineers aren’t even signing off on the engineering documents. They’re not doing the right thing, and they’re forcing small business to do things that they shouldn’t be doing because they want to fast-track all these projects, and they’re not providing the safety protocols.
SPEAKER 16 :
And the projects are the multimodal, so the trains, the buses, the walking.
SPEAKER 11 :
CDOT is, we need to correct CDOT because it’s run amok.
SPEAKER 16 :
I totally agree on that. Last thing, and we only have a couple of minutes, and Greg Lopez has just announced his run for governor on the Republican side of the ticket today. And that is making life affordable. And that doesn’t mean government programs. No. That means government getting out of the way, Greg Lopez.
SPEAKER 11 :
it does look we all know that government struggles in doing the right thing right a lot of the elected officials have this positive illusion that if they pass legislation things are going to get better the only way government can help people is for government to get out of the way remove all these unnecessary regulations and restrictions so that people can not only prosper but they can improve their own quality of life And when we talk about affordability, one of the things that really concerns me, Kim, is the younger generation, right? We talk about affordable housing. What we should be talking about is starter homes. Starter homes. These are small homes that are not costing $450,000. These are smaller homes that are maybe 1,100 square feet that you can start. We all grew up in those. Yeah, exactly right. You can start building your family. And people can afford a $200,000 home. I’ve talked to a lot of builders. This is doable. We just got to make sure that we focus on this priority so that the younger generation can live that American dream and have that affordability with housing and groceries, all those types of things.
SPEAKER 16 :
And fuel. And fuel.
SPEAKER 11 :
And fuel.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, we have a minute left, and kind of the teaser that I had was these social issues here in Colorado, all the firearms, Second Amendment bills, this 1312, the transgender bill, all those things. Are you going to work to get those things turned around?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yes, absolutely. Yes. Look, we must redirect the focus and purpose of government. And really, it’s pretty simple, right? It is to protect our liberties, to protect our freedoms, not to handcuff us and tell us this is how you’re going to raise your family. This is how your children, what they’re going to learn. You know, parents have must have a say again in the future of their children. And when someone’s trying to take that away from you, that is just egregious. You cannot allow that to happen. And that’s what I’m going to stand for. I’m going to fight for the parents. I’m going to fight for the children. I’m going to fight for small business. I’m going to fight for the teachers. I’m going to fight for the people to make sure that we make Colorado Colorado again. And that is why our motto for our campaign is people over politics.
SPEAKER 16 :
What’s that website, Greg Lopez?
SPEAKER 11 :
It’s greglopez.co. greglopez.co. Go there. Watch my video. I did a three-minute video. See what I’m talking about. Join the movement because we’re going to make Colorado a state that we can all be proud of.
SPEAKER 16 :
And Greg Lopez, I wish you all kinds of good luck, and you and your beautiful wife, Lisa. Thank you so much, Kim. And our quote is from St. Augustine, and he said this. He said, There is no saint without a past, no sinner without a future. So, my friends, today be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, live honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you. God bless America. Stay tuned for hour number two.
SPEAKER 17 :
But tell them if I don’t survive

It’s the Kim Munson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
SPEAKER 16 :
The socialization of transportation, education, energy, housing, and water, what it means is that government controls it through rules and regulations.
Indeed, let’s have a conversation. Welcome to our number two of the Kim Munson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You’re each treasured. You’re valued. You have purpose today. Strive for excellence. Take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment. And thank you to the team that I get to work with. That is Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and everybody here at Crawford Broadcasting. Happy Monday, Producer Joe. Happy Monday, Kim. It’s already a big day. It is Holy Week as well. So yesterday was Palm Sunday. And I want to talk just a little bit about that. And that is… I hadn’t really ever thought about this, where Jesus is on a donkey as he goes into Jerusalem with people putting down the palm leaves and their jackets or their coats or their cloaks, I guess it is. And the pastor mentioned Jesus. that a donkey is a beast of burden and that it’s difficult to ride a donkey. And that actually, if you’ve noticed, I hadn’t thought about this, that donkeys normally, they have their burdens, they’re on both sides. And I hadn’t really thought about that. So he said it’s difficult for a donkey normally to carry a man. But then he said what was so interesting, and I never thought about this, is that this wasn’t just a donkey. This was a foal. This was a baby donkey. And so probably Christ, as he’s going into Jerusalem, and this is the other thing that he said. And so in order to not injure the donkey, you’d have to sit back on the back above the legs. And that’s very uncomfortable. and also probably have to sit side saddle and so he said really think about this that the and I’m paraphrasing the savior of the world rides in not on a powerful steed but on a baby donkey and he said probably his feet were dragging because it was I hadn’t ever really thought about that and Joe, ever. The fact that the Savior of the world doesn’t come in on this powerful horse, but came in to Jerusalem on a baby donkey. I never thought about it. It just kind of hit me. You seem perplexed as well.
SPEAKER 14 :
I never thought about it either, but I mean, it kind of makes sense. He generally was the most humble man in the world. So that’s it. That makes sense to me.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s what he said. He came in very humble. And so as we are in Holy Week now, yesterday was Palm Sunday and moving towards Easter. I just wanted to share that with you and let you all ruminate on that today as well. And it was interesting because our pastor said as a child, he raised donkeys and he raised Mediterranean donkeys, which very possibly could have been the kind of donkey that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on. And so I just found it really interesting because he knew what he was talking about regarding all that. So anyway, I just wanted to share that with you. Our word of the day. is egregious. It’s E-G-R-E-G-I-O-U-S. It could be conspicuously bad or offensive or flagrant. And then our quote of the day, I love this. And again, the pastor quoted St. Augustine yesterday. And St. Augustine was born in 354. He died in 430. in algeria and he was the bishop of hippo from 396 to 430 one of the latin fathers of the church and perhaps the most significant christian thinker after saint paul augustine’s adaptation of classical thought to christian teaching created a theological system of great power and lasting influence his numerous written works the most important of which are confessions written in 400 the city of god written 413 to 426 shaped the practice of biblical exegesis i’m not getting that word right sorry guys and helped lay the foundation for much of medieval and modern christian thought i’ll work on that word and he said this though He said, the truth is like a lion. You don’t have to defend it. Let it loose and it will defend itself. Again, the truth is like a lion. You don’t have to defend it. Let it loose. It will defend itself. And that’s why on this show we search for truth and clarity. Because as we find the truth, as you find the truth and unleash it, it is going to defend itself. And we have all these really important discussions because of our wonderful sponsors. I get to work with really amazing people. I know each and every one of my sponsors personally, and I know that they and their teams strive for excellence. And the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Team is great partners of the show. And I’m pleased to talk with Roger Mangan. And, Roger, last week we talked about how important it is to sit down with your team to know what you need. Colorado is a, I don’t know if it’s a unique animal, but a little bit in as much as everybody is supposed to, by law, have insurance, car insurance insurance. But they don’t. And so that, particularly in the Denver metro area, can present some challenges that people need to address.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, absolutely, Kim. And let me… If you listened to the show last week, we talked about the number of uninsured motorists, generally speaking. So it depends on which part of town you’re in, to be very honest with you. There are going to be more uninsured motorists in certain parts of town than others. But across the board, the average is 20% to 25%. And that’s best guess. So… How do you protect yourself if you’re in an accident and you get hit by, let’s say, me, I have no insurance, and you can’t work for six months, six years, or never again? So you have to have some kind of backup plan to protect yourself against those who are not complying with the law. So you talk to your agent, and I… I just… Please, please, pick up the phone. You spend a lot of money with your insurance companies, and my company included. Probably 5% to 7% of your income goes to some form of insurance. So if… If you don’t know what it is, you sign that check every six months and you send it in and you don’t even know what you have, that’s problematic because the agent is going to accept that check, go on his merry way and wait for you to call and ask for an appointment. Please do that because that may be a 10-minute conversation. We don’t want you spending more money, but when you have an auto policy, you have five or six elements of coverage from public liability to collision coverage, comp coverage, towing, uninsured motorists, medical. So where can you redirect some of those lines of coverage to better protect you against the uninsured motorists out there? You could increase your deductible on collision and comprehensive. As little as that may save you, and it isn’t a lot of savings, but it If you had 100 deductible comprehensive and took it to 500, you might save 20 bucks every six months, $40 a year. And you do that in two lines of coverage, you might be able to save 80 to $100 a year and take that savings and direct it where you have the greatest exposure. That would be uninsured motorists, underinsured motorist coverage. In Colorado, when you buy that UM coverage, you’re not buying any physical damage coverage. If your car gets hit by me and totaled, got a $30,000 car, it’s totaled, you’re not going to have coverage through uninsured motorists. You have coverage for that $30,000 car through your collision coverage. And now you pay a higher deductible. But that’s unimportant relative to you losing potential income for two or three years. So I would take that money savings and direct it to higher limits of coverage on uninsured motorists, 250-500 or 500-500. It’s an insurance policy that will give you loss of income, loss of life. If you got killed in a car accident by me, I had no insurance, then you have no life insurance, which is another subject we’ll discuss in a little bit. But if you have no life insurance or very little, your family could come out of that incident where you’re wrongfully charged. and end up with reimbursement from your own insurance company. They cut a check, case closed, they give you $500,000. It’s not that easy, of course. You’re going to have to have some wrangling going on to get that $500,000. That’s natural in the process of insurance. But you have the coverage. So call your agent and say, would you direct me to an issue that I heard on the radio relative to this subject? And they’ll help you out. Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and I think one of the key things there is call your agent and having an agent such as the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance team that with that personalized service is worth so much when something really happens. So call your agent instead of that 800 number. Not that people won’t get helped with that 800 number. But man, having that agent that cares about you is so important. What’s that number that people can reach you?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, please call us at this number that I’ve had for 48, actually going to my 49th year, 303-795-8855. And that’s the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance team. That’s 303-795-8855.
SPEAKER 16 :
Like a good neighbor, the Roger Mangan team is there.
SPEAKER 01 :
Property is surely a right of mankind as real as liberty, wrote founding father John Adams. REMAX realtor Karen Levine has been working diligently at the local, county, state, and national levels to protect property rights and home ownership. Karen has navigated the often challenging Colorado metro real estate market for years. That’s 303-877-7516. That’s 303-877-7516.
SPEAKER 06 :
You’d like to get in touch with one of the sponsors of The Kim Monson Show, but you can’t remember their phone contact or website information. Find a full list of advertising partners on Kim’s website, kimmonson.com. That’s Kim, M-O-N-S-O-N dot com.
SPEAKER 16 :
And welcome back to the Kim Munson Show. Be sure and check out our website. That is Kim Munson, M-O-N-S-O-N dot com. Sign up for our weekly email newsletter. You can email me at Kim at Kim Munson dot com as well. Thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And I wanted to say thank you to Laramie Energy for their gold sponsorship of the show because, my friends, it’s reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant energy from oil, natural gas, and coal that powers our lives, fuels our hopes and dreams, and empowers us to change our own personal climate. And I shop around for gas, and I was able to – hold on. I think it was $2.62 yesterday. Let me just take a quick look. Yeah. Well, $2.63 a gallon I was able to fill up. And I was thinking about the people in California because I was recently out in California. And their fuel is $2 more a gallon. than what I paid yesterday, if not more in California. And it’s all because of government, because of taxes and fees. Just think about, let’s say you put in 10 gallons, $2, that’s $20 each time you put in 10 gallons into your tank. $20 over the course of a month, every time you put 10 gallons in, that adds up to real money. And that is money that’s being taken out of people’s pockets and put into the coffers of government. And really, I think it’s an assault upon people’s prosperity. So I just wanted to make that point. And that’s why it is reliable and affordable and abundant energy from oil, natural gas, and coal. that allows us really to thrive and prosper. So pleased to have on the line with me Dr. Brian Joondepth. Hi, Dr. Joondepth. Welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 09 :
Good morning, Kim. How are you?
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, I am well. And I wanted to talk with you about a piece that was recently published in American Thinker, where you paraphrased Maggie Thatcher, where she basically had said, I think to Ronald Reagan, don’t get wobbly now. And you’re saying to Americans, to Maggie, make America great again, not to get wobbly now.
SPEAKER 09 :
Exactly. With Trump and his tariffs, Trump’s doing everything at lightning speed. the deportations, the tariffs, the realigning of foreign policy, executive orders, et cetera, et cetera. And a lot of Republicans are getting skittish about it. It’s too fast. It’s not normal. It’s going to cause this problem, that problem. They’re catastrophizing all of this and going wobbly about it. And my thought is, well, This is what we elected him to do. We elected Trump as a disruptor to break up a failing system that’s headed toward the cliff, to break it up in a big way and do things differently and support him. These things are not going to happen quickly. This is a century of inertia for so many of these things. And to reverse course, it’s going to take time. It’s like one of these Great Lakes freighters. that takes five miles to come to a stop, much less turn. So nothing happens quickly with a big government bureaucracy. And my advice is to hang in there and don’t go wobbly. Let things play out. I think Trump knows what he’s doing. And if you trust him, if you elected him, then give him a chance to do his thing.
SPEAKER 16 :
People need to understand that with this out-of-control spending, the deficit spending, this debt, trillions and trillions of dollars of debt, that we are headed towards, as you said, a cliff. We are headed towards disaster. And you can’t turn this freighter around without some stuff happening. It’s going to be a little rocky here as we do this, but it’s necessary. Otherwise, it’ll be really rocky because once you go over a cliff, you don’t know what’s going on.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, that’s true. You look at our debt, it’s $36 or $37 trillion. debt service, the interest we pay on the debt is the largest item in the budget. It’s larger than defense. And it’s unsustainable. And it’s only getting worse. And where’s Congress? I hear from friends of, oh, we need to elect people that are going to cut spending. Well, how’s that worked out? We’ve been electing Republicans and Democrats. We’ve had Republican congresses that have not cut spending. This goes back for decades. even during Reagan’s years. Reagan’s tax cuts were great. They increased revenue to the government, but Congress tripled spending. So we ended up with big deficits in spite of that. And Congress has no appetite to cut spending. So who’s left? It’s either Trump or it doesn’t happen. And we just keep borrowing money from China, who we’re economic adversaries with, to send to Countries all over the world, foreign aid, UCEDD, all these things. I mean, it’s maddening what we’re doing. And it’s really an easy fix of just getting spending under control.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and as you mentioned, Trump, too, they came out of basically the inauguration at lightning speed. It was remarkable the number of executive orders that he signed that first day. I can’t believe the pace that the guy keeps because he had the inauguration. He had everything that day. And did these executive orders. Then he had the balls that evening. But he got down to business before any of the fun stuff. And I think that we as Americans need to realize you’ve got to get your priorities right. Because if you don’t get your priorities right, my dad always said to me, you can do what you want to when you want to if you do what you need to when you need to. And if Americans want to do what we want to in the future, we’ve got to do this right now. This is what we need to do right now, Dr. June Depth.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, exactly. And his executive orders have been setting the stage. This is all well planned and thought out. He’s had four years to work on this. And he’s declaring certain rules. national emergencies and other things which give him powers to deport criminal aliens, for example. There are certain circumstances where you can do that legally much easier, and you have to declare those. So he’s been laying the groundwork. He’s got good people in place, and the process just has to be allowed to play itself out. We’ve got over 100 countries that are coming to the table to negotiate with America about not only on tariffs, but on other trade deals and mineral rights, natural resources, all sorts of things. And this is a total realignment. And the countries that want to hold out and play hardball, they’re going to be on the losing end. And I wouldn’t bet against Trump on any of these things, but he needs America’s support. He’s not going to get the Democrats’ support, because he could cure cancer and they’d be furious at him. But uh economically certainly the republican base those that voted for him don’t go wobbly now don’t if he loses his base loses his support then then what we got bernie sanders and aoc in charge god help us i mean that’s the alternative so it’s either trump and let him do his thing for four years and stay on congress and codify these things into law The alternative is what we had for the past four years and more of it.
SPEAKER 16 :
Dr. June Depth, I see watching the political landscape that there were those that were never Trumpers. Now, many of them now are saying they’d like to be in the administration, but yet I’m not sure that they’ve really changed their stripes on that. But there is this… The group that didn’t like Trump, they are not nearly as vocal. But I think here in Colorado, you’ll see this whole narrative of we need to have more moderate Republicans elected into office. What would you say to that?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, it’s a fine line to walk. At least in Colorado, we need Republicans that can win. And having purity tests where they have to be a certain way on a certain issue, that may give us unelectable Republicans. We need to win congressional seats. We need to win the legislature. We need to win the governorship. Right now, Colorado’s California, or worse. I mean, some things that have been passed in Colorado would give Californians pause. about misgendering your children and the gun laws. I mean, this is California on steroids. But we need Republicans that can win elected office. So it’s a compromise. And unfortunately, the Republican Party in Colorado is a circular firing squad. You’re either too moderate and you’re a rhino or you’re too extreme and unelectable. I mean, you may have great principles, but if you have no name recognition and no backing, you can’t get elected. So there are a lot of people out there that have great ideas and are great thinkers. But if you can’t get elected to office, you can’t affect anything. So there’s two parts to this. If you want to legislate and have a voice, you have to get to the place where you can do that. And my advice to the Republican Party is to come together and find candidates that are They’re not going to be perfect, but they’re a step in the right direction. If you have veto-proof Democrat majorities and Democrat governor, nothing’s going to happen. Republicans are just going to beat each other up and remain in permanent minority.
SPEAKER 16 :
So, Dr. June Depp, I have this volunteer gig as the president of the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. And it’s an all-volunteer group, and I’m going to very quickly give their names. That’s Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Ramey Johnson, Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, Corey Onizorg, Paula Beard, and Ray Beard. These are all volunteers. And we are watching legislation down at the statehouse. And we have a Colorado Union of Taxpayers pledge. But I would say that basically we want to protect the taxpayers, which is everybody, protect TABOR, Colorado’s Taxpayers Bill of Rights, parental rights, property rights, those kinds of things. And I’m frustrated with this because as I was going through reviewing legislation for this week, there’s a couple of bills that just really undercut TABOR, Colorado’s Taxpayers Bill of Rights. And we’ve got Republicans that are supporting it, but yet then I see them out on the stump. So there’s reporting legislation that is taking money from TABOR, but then out on the stump, I see them say we need to protect Tabor because the Democrats have introduced this resolution to make Tabor, Colorado’s taxpayer bill of rights, asking if it’s unconstitutional, doing a court case. I struggle with that. You say one thing, but you’re doing another. I struggle with that, Dr. June Depth.
SPEAKER 09 :
I agree 100 percent. And I have friends that keep saying we need to elect principled constitutional Republicans. And I’m like, yeah, well, how’s that been working out for the past five decades? We elect them and they get to Washington and do nothing, whether it’s Washington or at a state level. the Paul Ryan Congress, what did they do? They couldn’t fund the border wall. I mean, we’ve got a trillion dollars for UCEDD to fund transgender opera in Pakistan, but we can’t do a border wall. I mean, it’s ridiculous. And where’s Congress now? Where’s the economic bill, the Trump tax cuts, and codifying what he’s done by executive order into law? If it’s a four-year executive order presidency… It all gets undone if a Democrat wins in four years. This has to be put into law to make it much harder to repeal. And rein in these judges, all these district judges. These are all created by Congress. They can be impeached. These districts can be defunded and gotten rid of. That’s not judicial branch. This is all created by Congress, and they can control it. And where are they? They all talk a good game. They all want an end to endless wars, but they all vote to keep funding Ukraine and everything else. It’s very frustrating because they say one thing and do another.
SPEAKER 16 :
Right, and that’s why I do the show, is so that we can shed light on these things and hold people accountable. That’s why you write the pieces that you do, and people can find your articles at American Thinker, also at Rasmussen Reports. Those are the two main places, right, Dr. Jundep?
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s correct. Those are the right places.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. We’re going to continue the discussion when we come back. But all of these discussions happen because of our sponsors. And for anything regarding mortgages, whether or not it is a first, a second, a reverse, reach out to Lorne Levy. He can help you in 49 of the 50 states, just not New York.

It is May 15th, which is right around the corner at the Ridge out in Castle Rock. And it’s a great way to support the foundation. Have a great round of golf and meet some wonderful people. And you can do that by going to USMCMemorialFoundation.org. That is USMCMemorialFoundation.org. I’m talking with Dr. Brian Joondepth regarding his piece in American Thinker. Remember, Maggie, this is no time to go wobbly. And you’re quoting Maggie Thatcher. My understanding is she was not a very tall woman as far as physical stature, but she was a giant when it came to being able to articulate the things that are so important for freedom and liberty today.
SPEAKER 09 :
She was. And she was part of the triad of her and Reagan and Pope John Paul that really stuck it to the Soviet Union. And that was part of the important part of the Soviet Union downfall, the pressure they applied and the resolve they had. George W. Bush kind of presided over it. He happened to be there. I don’t think he had much to do with it, and that’s why she told him to not go wobbly, because he had a tendency to do that, and that’s why he was a one-term president.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Oh, I’m sorry. I got confused. And she said that to H.W. Bush. She did not say that to Reagan. She said that.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, yeah. H.W., I’m sorry.
SPEAKER 16 :
No, that was on me.
SPEAKER 09 :
That was on me. I get the initials. George W., George H.W. It’s too much. H.W., yes. 41.
SPEAKER 16 :
You know, as we look back over history, though, I can now see – so I was Republican at that time, didn’t understand the whole big government Republicans, which H.W. Bush and W. also were. I didn’t understand all that. This has been a – It’s been a journey for me, Dr. June Depp, but what I’ve come to realize is somebody that can articulate a message and a vision and can do it well, well, that’s what Trump did. Just under MAGA, Make America Great Again, Those four words resonated with people. Now, one might say, how does that happen? Of course, Barack Obama said we’re going to fundamentally change America. And to many people, that meant something different than what he did. But to be able, first of all, to articulate a message, but to have that message based on these principles, the sanctity of the individual and these foundational principles of America, it was a winning message for Donald Trump. It’s taken… several months now for the opposition to get organized, but you see mainstream media, you see these protests, which is primarily, I think, middle-aged white Americans that are out there, the liberal Americans that are protesting, but it’s taken them a while to organize, but they are trying to undermine this Trump administration.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, they are, and Trump is a master at getting the message out I have friends that wish he was more articulate and could explain. But, you know, if Trump was a William F. Buckley type and going into the weeds on explaining all this stuff, 95 percent of the country would tune out. They don’t have the attention span for that. This is about snapshots and soundbites. This is how the American mind works now. And Trump’s a master at it. He showed up at the UFC fight on Saturday night and he’s there with Joe Rogan and Dana White and A handful of his cabinet members and Ted Cruz and Elon Musk. And, you know, what an image walking into the stadium in Miami. Miami is not Trump territory. It is now. But look, look at the picture. And how he talks to the press. He left the fight at 2 a.m. He’s on Air Force One and he’s talking to the media. You think Joe Biden would be up at 2 a.m.? He goes to bed at 8 p.m. He talks to the press. Are you kidding? Trump has talked to the press probably a dozen times, a dozen fold more than Biden had in four years. He’s constantly talking to them on the plane and before he gets on the plane and cabinet meetings. And he’s blunt, but he gets the message across. He’s about branding, and he knows how to do it from his television days. No, it’s not articulate and detailed like you get in the faculty lounge, but nobody needs that. Nobody wants that. If you want that, you can read the think tank, read the Heritage Foundation white papers. Trump is getting the point across, and that’s why he’s so effective. He’s relating to the common man.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and so you mentioned Congress in the last segment, and Congress needs to step up and do their job. And Mike Johnson seems to me like he might be somewhat wobbly. And one of the strategies is just to kick the can down the road, just keep kicking it down the road. And my understanding is, is Congress went to Easter break early. And by gosh, if you haven’t gotten your work done, I don’t think you should go home for Easter break.
SPEAKER 09 :
Absolutely. When was the last time Congress passed a proper budget? It’s probably at least 15 to 20 years. They keep doing continuing resolutions and stopgap measures and raise the debt ceiling and all these unconstitutional maneuvers. But passing a budget, how many households could keep maxing out credit cards and keep getting new ones and and and growing deeper and deeper into debt with no chance of paying it off or even keeping up with the debt payments. It doesn’t work. It doesn’t work in my house or your house, and yet this is what they’re doing. And it’s shameful, and Congress should be passing this stuff. They have the majority. There’s no telling what happens after the midterms, whether the Democrats take one of the houses of Congress, and then everything grinds to a halt.
SPEAKER 16 :
And that is I think that is the strategy, Dr. June depth. And that’s one of the reasons an arena that I’m working diligently in is over on elections to move us towards a place where we have honest and transparent and fair elections. Because if we don’t have that, we don’t have a country. And I think part of the strategy is, is to kick this can down the road to delay, delay, delay. And then if, in fact, as you mentioned, Democrats take one or both of the houses of Congress, then everything grinds to a halt. And they get and they when I say they and this is this is big government people on both sides of the aisle. Then they get their gravy train back. They’re pretty irritated right now that the gravy train is is possibly going to go away.
SPEAKER 09 :
Absolutely. And I hope the FBI and DOJ get going. I’ve seen little out of the DOJ. Pam Bondi’s on Fox News all the time. But what’s going on behind the scenes? We’ve been promised Epstein file releases and none of the deep state actors have been held accountable. The Russiagate stuff. Yeah, there’s stuff released. And I understand it takes time to build the case. But The evidence has been out there. Dan Bongino is deputy director of the FBI. He’s written books on Russiagate and all the malfeasance. The evidence is there. How long does it take to build a case and present it to a grand jury, get indictments and prosecute these people? So far, there’s been no accountability. Same for the COVID stuff, all the COVID lies and malfeasance that cost so many people their lives, their businesses, their families. Where’s the reckoning on this? So far, there’s been nothing. And people are getting frustrated. And if they can run out the clock and get a Democrat House, day one, they’re going to impeach Trump. Day two, they’re going to impeach Trump again. And every day, it’s going to be another impeachment. It’ll be an up and down vote. party-line vote, and Trump will be impeached every day for the last two years of his presidency. Nothing will get done.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and that’s why it is so important with what’s going on. Now, you mentioned executive orders. And from what I can see is that Trump is trying to stay within the context of what’s happened under the Constitution. For example, I read in depth his executive order on elections and also my ear to the ground people that are in this arena today. have said that he really stayed laser focused on things that were already law and saying we need to uphold the law on these elections. He didn’t stray outside of the purveyance of the Constitution. That is really important to me, Dr. June Depp, that he stays within those confines of the Constitution.
SPEAKER 09 :
Absolutely. And he’s doing that. The He and his people have found arcane laws that are on the books, and he’s utilizing them. Laws from 50 or 100 years ago that nobody’s heard of, but they’re on the books, and he’s staying within the bounds. Biden didn’t. The Supreme Court said he couldn’t forgive student loans, and he did it anyway. And everybody’s ho-hum. The media didn’t say anything. Democrats obviously didn’t say anything. Now they’re howling about Trump and the Constitution, but He’s doing what he’s allowed to do and good for him. That’s the way it’s supposed to be done.
SPEAKER 16 :
So, Dr. June Depp, what do you think about Elon Musk? Because that election for Supreme Court. judge or justice in Wisconsin. The radical Democrat was, well, victorious in that election, although my friend Peter Brunegger with the Wisconsin Center for Election Justice is looking at some of the details on that. But anyway, she’s declared the winner. We’ll just say that. And so she’s out there on the stump saying that she ran against the most powerful or the most the richest man in the world or one of the richest men in the world, Elon Musk. And she prevailed. And in doing so, kind of the political wind is that maybe the Trump administration realized that they might want to pull Musk back a little bit on the whole political thing on Doge. What’s your thoughts about that?
SPEAKER 09 :
You can’t win them all. There were a lot of billionaires like Pritzker and Reid Hoffman and Bloomberg and other people that were funding the lady that did win the Supreme Court seat. So it’s billionaires versus billionaires. And Trump was one and they were, I don’t know, three or four of them on the other side. So nobody talks about that. And Trump won against a bunch of billionaires that were funding Biden or Harris and her candidacy. So Just because you lose once, I wouldn’t give up hope on that. But Musk’s time is limited. He’s got a short-term position and, I don’t know, 150 days or something like that. And that’s it. Doge can go on. Doge is more than Elon Musk. He’s got the people in place, but he’s serving as a special advisor, I think, for 150 days. And once that time is up, that’s that. So I wouldn’t worry too much about Musk. But he’s another disruptor. And if it wasn’t for him, look at what we wouldn’t know about. All this money that’s being spent. The U.S. Treasury is an ATM machine. We’re funding nonsense all over the world to the tune of trillions of dollars. And everybody’s oblivious. Congress is doing nothing. There’s no oversight. It’s about time somebody shed some light on this.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and tomorrow is tax day. And I can’t tell you how many of my friends and colleagues have significant tax bills. And I think as all of us look at this and we see what you mentioned, USAID, all of this money that has been going to really weird things. I feel like the American, the everyday American has been fleeced. And I think Trump realizes that, has realized that, and he’s working to get that turned around. And I think that’s why you’re seeing this, this din of, D-I-N, of PBIs, politicians, bureaucrats, and interested parties screaming about, at the tops of their lungs that we want more waste fraud and abuse we want men in women’s sports we want dei and most americans are like we don’t want that and we don’t want you to fleece us anymore and pay for all that stuff your final thought dr june depth trump and his administration has to make the case especially around tax day of what they’re funding
SPEAKER 09 :
and how much it’s costing taxpayers to fund transgender comic books and operas and other nonsense in African countries that do not want it. These African countries are happy with those that they’re cleaning it up. But make taxpayers know what they’re paying for. So when they write that check to the IRS, know how much lower or smaller that check would be if this stuff wasn’t being paid for by U.S. taxpayers? How much of the Ukraine war is paid for by U.S. taxpayers? And where’s that money going? That’s the connection that needs to be made.
SPEAKER 16 :
Good point. And Dr. June Depth, a teaser for your upcoming pieces that you’ll be writing.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, I have a piece this morning, an American thinker. It’s called Don’t Trust Me, I’m a Doctor. So I’ve been speaking experience in the field for almost 40 years. it’s about the declining trust in doctors and the medical system and some of the reasons why. So it’s an interesting read and a lot of self-inflicted wounds by the medical establishment and why trust in doctors has been declining, especially since COVID.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, fascinating. And that’ll be at American Thinker?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yep, that’s at American Thinker this morning, so check it out.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Dr. Joondep, thank you. We will talk with you next month.

SPEAKER 15 :
Good morning, lovely lady. All right, what’s on my mind? I’m probably going to get in lots of trouble, so let’s roll. Number one, you know, people are overwhelmed about the bills. If you just go to the leg.colorado.gov and look at the schedule for each day and in the committees, there are hundreds of bills on certain days going through second, third readings where you can’t speak on them because they’re being read in the House or the Senate. There are new ones snuck in like after 1.30. So you have to have it in before 1.30. And the one that Free State Colorado said was one of the biggest to be concerned about last night on their big three-hour show was HB 251327, Modify Statewide Ballot Measure Processes. sponsor Sirota. What this is going to let the title board do is put more rules on you for submitting initiatives, et cetera, more than you already have. Make fines if you don’t report to the secretary of state when your petition is at 25, 50 and 75 percent. And I wrote in Wait, is this the same secretary that violated laws with bios passwords and is running for office is now going to put more power in that person’s pocket? And I kind of went off on it. You know, I lose it a lot.
SPEAKER 16 :
And let me just say, Gammy.
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s not all I want to say.
SPEAKER 16 :
No, I know. But I want to say thank you.
SPEAKER 15 :
for you are writing prolifically on so many of these different bills and you have an understanding of the um the consequences of these bills so thank you for doing that so what’s your next comment you’re welcome the other part is you realize we’re protesting african women or muslim women being mutilated clitorally what let’s just call it that and yet we’re not protesting our children being mutilated the same way. And you have to think about this really hard. Because yesterday I watched what Cain told me to watch, this documentary called Devastated. It’s on YouTube for free. And it talks about the huge amount of death in Colorado. from fentanyl and the fake pills, you know, the way it’s being snuck in. That brings you to the border and China. It brings you to the border and probably Muslim Brotherhood activity and the no-go cities in Texas and Michigan. How do we, the United States, have no-go cities and people who are promoting all this abuse on our citizens and drugs being brought into our country by these saints. We shouldn’t be doing business with any of these people, and we should shut down the no-go cities. And worst of all, everyone should watch Devastated. It’s about Colorado, the fentanyl business. Four little packets like sugar can kill a couple of thousand people. Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and yes, and I need to watch that movie as well. I’m familiar with it. And I know that it’s an important movie. So I will do that. And I know that you texted that over as well, Gammy. I really do appreciate all of the great work that you’re doing. And thank you. I wanted to share this text that came in on the text line as I mentioned that our pastor talked about Christ coming into Jerusalem on a donkey. And this is what one of our listeners said. It says, interesting that you should mention the donkey that your pastor mentioned. I listened to scripture yesterday. For some reason, the donkey stood out to me. When I went home, I looked up the donkey as an animal of burden. I thought how God leaves not a single detail out. Here our Savior carried all our burdens upon his soul, just as the donkey carries heavy burdens. It says a nun once said she gets stuck on just the beginning phrase, our Father, and she meditates on that. May all of you there have a wonderful and blessed Easter week. And by the way, Trump is making this week a very holy week honoring Christ with a lot of events coming forth. So thank you so much for our listener on that. I appreciate that. This is from Eric. And when he gets really onto an issue, he’ll put everything in caps. But he said he’s really concerned that the Republicans have not censored Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. And she was the one that referred to Governor Abbott of Texas who was in a wheelchair as Hot Wheels. Tell you what, if somebody had done that on the other side of the aisle, that would not have flown for sure. And then Eric also mentioned this. If you don’t have at least some liability car insurance, He says you should be jailed two years if caught. Well, my friend Yvonne has mentioned to me that there are, and I’ve seen, there’s a lot of cars that are out on the road that have expired tags. How is that even possible? But yet, I think many of those may be illegals. And you just wonder how on earth that could be happening here in Colorado where Rogers talked about Everybody’s supposed to have insurance. You’re supposed to have your car registered. But yet it seems like people that are here illegally are getting a free pass on that. Let’s see. Okay. Let’s see here. Okay. I think that that’s primarily it. There’s so many different… I’m trying to get through all of these text messages. And please, please keep those cards and letters coming. Colorado… is truly at the tip of the spear. I was talking with a friend of mine who said I may just, she said she may just move. And certainly it seems like it is daunting here. But don’t give up. We are working on some important things to make a difference. And one of those things is we can help fund the lawsuit to help Holly Kaysen and Sean Smith and Ash Epp on their appeal to stop NGO lawfare. And if you want more information about that, text me at 720-605-0647, and we are raising their money for this appeal and making great progress on that. And thank you to all of you listeners that are doing so. So if you want to help with that, which will help, I think, really take the – take them out at the knees regarding all of these NGOs. This is very, very important. So text me at 720-605-0647 if you would like more information on that. Our quote for the end of the show, I went to St. Augustine. And the balance of the week, we have pre-recorded, we worked diligently to have some amazing interviews for you. So I wish you all a very holy week and a happy easter and this is what saint augustine said he said there is no saint without a past and there is no sinner without a future so my friends today be grateful read great books think good thoughts listen to beautiful music communicate and listen well live honestly and authentically strive for high ideals and like superman stand for truth justice and the american way my friends you are not alone god bless you and god bless america
