It’s playing out with this Colorado state legislature as well as this governor. but all the way to municipal governments and to school districts and other special districts. That’s why we’ve got to, first of all, understand these principles of our founding and then reclaim them. And so remember, if something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And on the show, we talk about the issues. We’ll mention the people that are pushing these issues, but we work really hard to get out of the name-calling that can happen in schools politics and also with eighth grade girls. Several of you have recommended to watch the movie A Great Awakening. And I am watching it, re-watching it, because it’s the story of George Whitefield. And he was born in 1714. He died in 1770. He was an English Anglican priest and preacher who was one of the founders of Methodism and the evangelical movement. He was born in Lancaster. He matriculated at Pembroke College, Oxford, in 1732. And there he joined the Holy Club and was introduced to John and Charles Wesley, with whom he would work closely in his later ministry. And in the movie… He and Ben Franklin knew each other. And Franklin’s grandson is going through some papers. And he finds these papers from George Whitefield. And he said, did you know George Whitefield during the Revolution? And Ben Franklin said he was the Revolution. Now, obviously, he died in 1770, so he was not alive then. when the colonies declared their independence, but it’s a powerful film. And he said this, he said, press forward. Do not stop. Do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you. And when I say on the show that we are made for this moment, we are made for this moment. We’re at our 250th birthday of the United States. And we, They put on the line their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. We’re asked to do the same thing at this particular point in time and engage in this big battle of ideas that is raging in our country today. Let’s see. Our bill of the day is House Bill 26-1429. It’s a county administration public assistant programs. And This is cut the Colorado union of taxpayer. This is our analysis on this. It says the bill requires the department of healthcare policy and financing in coordination with the departments of human services and the department of early childhood state departments to contract with a single County department of human or social services to administer a centralized member integrity service to conduct fraud investigations concerning eligibility for Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, that’s SNAP, the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program, Temporary Assistance for Needing Families, and Adult Financial Programs, Public Assistance Programs, and Benefit Overpayments. It says the bill also establishes aligned requirements for quality improvement. And that’s the bill summary. Hold on. I needed to give you what we had to say to it. Hold on here. I think we pulled the wrong thing on this. So let me get to that. I’m going to come back to that here because I don’t want to get us jammed up too much on time because we’ve got a show planned for you. I am doing well. And I wanted to ask you about just some little basic things. I know some people that they have a light that they were trying to fix themselves and And what happened was one of the kids turned the light switch on and this does not work now. And they are concerned that it’d be really expensive to have somebody come out and fix that. What would a basic call cost for you to go out and help somebody with just a little job like that?

Yeah, so one thing we do differently than a lot of the bigger companies in the Denver area is we just have a standard service call hourly rate. A lot of local companies like to do a per-task or per-repair type of charge. So we charge $100 an hour plus materials, and that usually covers all… minor to slightly bigger service calls, such as replacing lights, troubleshooting circuits that aren’t working, updating outlets, and things of that sort.
SPEAKER 18 :
Okay, and that seems like that is a very fair price for that standard service call, Carl Jones.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah. And we don’t charge a service call fee either, which is another thing that we find a lot of our competition does employ. And that just is additional savings we pass on to the customer.
SPEAKER 18 :
That’s great. And quality work as well. A few weeks ago when Ben Williams was in studio and he is the owner of Ben’s Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, he said that the two of you had been doing a job together and he was just very impressed with the quality of work that you do. One of the things that he said is he’s worked with electrical contractors and he said that Electrical contractors are notorious for leaving a mess. And he said that there was not even one little wire after you finished this job with him. And he was really impressed with that, Carl.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, yeah, we’ve definitely heard this stereotype before. And we do our diligence to make sure that you don’t really notice that we’ve been there in the first place outside of the new equipment that we have left on site. It is people’s personal homes and not usually bigger job sites. So we try to be respectful of that space as I would want that in my own home as well.

Good morning, Kim. Thanks for the invite. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, and just tell us a little bit about your campaign for Congress and how people can get more information and then some late-breaking information we’re going to share as well. So why are you running for Congress and what is your website?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, I’m running for Colorado’s Congressional District 3, which is 27 counties. It starts in the northwest corner, goes to the southwest corner, and almost to the southeast district is perhaps understating it. I’m running because our current representative has been completely unresponsive to the people. When you see his posts now on social media, they don’t even pay attention to what he’s saying. They say, why haven’t you had a town hall? He has co-sponsored land grabs, 735,000 acres so far. He co-sponsored the bill with Senators Bennett and Hickenlooper. He didn’t just agree with it, he co-sponsored it. Those are not conservative Colorado, Western Slope, Southern Colorado values. And he deserved a primary. He had a primary, Kim, as you may know. And Hope Scheffelman was her name, friend of ours, great lady. She had to drop out of the race. And this is a race that requires a primary. And in fact, Jeff Heard is the only Republican congressman of the four in the state that has a primary. And let me tell you, he deserves it. People are glad I’m there and they’re mad at him. They are furious. So it’s going to be an interesting race.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, what you’re referring to, I think, Ron Hanks, is something that I, too, am opposed to, and that’s this Gunnison Outdoor Resources Protection Act. Do I have that correct? It’s called GORP? Yes, ma’am. GORP, yeah. This is a big land grab because ultimately the more that I delve into these issues, we have a movement not only here with the Gunnison Public Lands, but also throughout the country where we have different entities that under the guise of conservation, public lands, that actually it ultimately will… take these lands and there will be no human interaction on these lands at all. There won’t be hiking there. And maybe there might be in a small, small portion, but generally it will take these lands and there will not be human interaction. So not, no mining, oil and gas, no, recreation, ultimately this goal, grazing, that is what ultimately will happen. And as you mentioned, Congressman Jeff Hurd has his name on this legislation with Senator Hickenlooper and Senator Bennett. And so I think that that does say a lot, Ron Hanks.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, yes, and it’s called GORP, and you can call it Gunnison Recreation Project. I would just call it Government Ownership of Rural Property, and that’s 735,000 acres, and that’s not the end of their game. They still have the Dolores Monument that they’re interested in, and they still have eyes on the Rio Grande Valley down in the San Luis Valley, the Rio Grande River. All combined, Kim, this ends up in the neighborhood of 1.2 million acres. And, you know, the federal government already owns 36 percent of Colorado. And I would argue strongly they are not doing a very good job with that which they already control. And the federal government’s primary mission and policy, at least for the last 60 years, my dad was in the timber industry back in the 60s. dealing with Department of Interior, Forest Service, BLM. The primary mission statement, unstated, unwritten, is lock it up and watch it burn. And we’ve seen a lot of fires we need to have. Let’s compel the federal government to actually do better management of the glands they already have. And let’s get rid of this concept of taking more.
SPEAKER 18 :
OK, so this primary is very important. How are you accessing the ballot?
SPEAKER 09 :
I went on through assembly in Pueblo in early April and I think it was April 11th, maybe 10th. And we decided just a couple of days before that. So to say we are an 11th hour campaign, actually, we like the sound of it. But what’s interesting, Kim, is that has not hurt us a bit. I ran in 24, and it was a six-way race. And I have the name recognition. I have a lot of support. People still have my signs out there. And it was easy to rebuild a campaign that was in kind of stasis or hibernation. Actually, this is an interesting year. I don’t know how much time I have, but Trump won that district in 24 by 10 points. Hurd only won it by five, hanging close. desperately on Trump’s coattails. So, you know, Heard hid from us the other five candidates in 24. Voters didn’t really know who he was. He managed to squeak by with money from AFP, Americans for Prosperity, who did all the door hangers for him. And then some packed money from Mike Johnson, who completely lied about who I was. That’s a demonstrable record. And they ended up calling me effectively a baby. barely made it through the general, and now people are abandoning him. So this is a really interesting race. And given how full the Democrat primary ballot is, it’s going to change the dynamics of unaffiliated voters in this primary race.
SPEAKER 18 :
OK, now you and some other candidates just filed a lawsuit. So tell me about that.
SPEAKER 09 :
We did. And it is about the unaffiliated being in Republican primaries. I have the ultimate respect for unaffiliated voters. And frankly, there’s many a time that I’ve grown pretty tired of the Republican Party as well. But since Proposition 108 passed in 2016 and was really implemented in 2018, we have seen significant influences in race outcomes, you know, primary race outcomes. And I believe it is fundamentally unfair to the Republican Party and the grassroots that do the work to maintain the party and to plan the assemblies. it’s unfair for them to have to do all the work and then have somebody come in from outside and critique their work with a vote that could be meant to influence or weaken the stronger conservative leanings of the of the party. So, you know, it’s interesting. There’s a there’s a There’s a dividing line here on the party and how they the people in the party. Some say we have to have the unaffiliated in the primary. And then there are others say if they are in there, it dilutes our vote. And I I’m in that latter camp. And I think out of respect for those working hard, it’s incumbent upon us to. defend the positions of the Republican Party. And of course, the cure for unaffiliated is if they want to influence the Republican Party is to join the Republican Party. But the last point on this, I think there’s a fundamental unfairness in the way Colorado has enacted this, because you and I as Republicans, folks as Democrats get one ballot. Unaffiliated, they always print them to and they get to window shop and decide, do I impact this party or this party? Now, like I said, the dynamics are going to be different this year because the Democrats have so many primaries, including in CD3. But it’s it’s demonstrably unequal. It’s a waste of paper, a waste of ink, waste of postage. And I believe it’s an additional vector for fraud. So all of these things are important considerations. And that’s why I joined this lawsuit.
SPEAKER 18 :
OK, and who who are the others on this lawsuit?
SPEAKER 09 :
Two other candidates that also went through the assembly, and that is Scott Bottoms running for governor and David Wilson running for attorney general and. It’s an interesting point, Kim. I was a late decision on this based upon the withdrawal of the previous candidate. David Wilson was a late decision and went through the assembly process. If we don’t maintain the caucus assembly format, we don’t have redress for, um, uh, late candidates and grassroots candidates. Uh, what we will ultimately see are all the pay to play petition on candidates that have come in out of nowhere and, and run a petition through. So, you know, it’s, uh, it is not disrespect the unaffiliated voters. We’re asking them to join the party and, uh, and confer with us, converse with us. And, uh, And then vote as you will.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, and somebody had said to me these open primaries are akin to having the Kansas City Chiefs vote on who is the head coach of the Denver Broncos. And I think that makes, I think that explains it a lot. So if you want to be a, have a voice regarding the Denver Broncos and be a fan, you have to be a Denver Broncos fan, not a Kansas City Chiefs fan. And so this lawsuit then is to do what exactly, Ron Hanks?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, our intent, our ask is that the Secretary of State’s office not deliver Republican ballots to unaffiliated. And, you know, Democrats might, and they have in other states, California versus Jones, the two parties have actually teamed up and had the same sense of injury. So we would like to simply see Republican ballots go to Republican voters and then let us see the results of our hard work as an association. If I may, I mean, the four Republican congresspeople I guess I believe they filed a motion to intervene with this. But I mean, and they also intervened on the state lawsuit, the state party lawsuit. The party has voted for this overwhelmingly and repeatedly, and it has been smacked down by a requirement of 75 percent majority, which has since been repealed or overturned by another subsequent ruling. But, you know, the congressmen that are in there now must be happy with the system. And Jeff Hurd’s affidavit said, removing the unaffiliated from the primary would cause me irreparable harm. And I find that galling, Kim. This whole thing we’re looking at from 180 degrees. If we have unaffiliated in the Republican primary, it is causing the party members irreparable harm. And that’s the way I see it. That’s why I’m fighting for this. OK.
SPEAKER 18 :
And when will the decision be made on this, Ron Hanks?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, the court case is tomorrow in Denver. I think they moved it up from two by half an hour, an hour. I don’t know when they’ll decide. We’ve asked for expeditious review, of course, because the ballots are starting to go to the print shop, I guess, and the absentee ballots will be going out shortly. So it’s up to them. We’ve asked for it to be expedited, but I would say probably in a week or so, but I’ll leave it to the courts.
SPEAKER 18 :
Okay. Ron Hanks, and what is your website? How can people get more information?

Well, and thank you, and thanks to Joe for giving me a ring up this morning. The website is hanks4colorado.com. It’s hanks4colorado.com, and it’s a pretty comprehensive site now. I’d ask people to take a read at my positions, and that’s the thing. I’ll show up in CD3, and I’ll even, if people want to throw insults and cabbages, prefer not cabbages. If they’re insults, make them funny. But I’ll show up to town halls. And we aren’t seeing that in CD3 now. We’ve got a guy who’s got the position, and now he’s dodging everybody. And I’ll show up. That’s my commitment.

And this is what we had to say. And I want to say thank you to my fellow cut board members. When you see them out there, these are all volunteers that have given up a lot, a big portion of their weekends, every weekend since the mid January to now to look at legislation out there. And that is, um, Steve Dorman, Greg Glansky, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Rami Johnson, Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, Corey Onizorg, Paula Beard, and Ray Beard. And as we were going through these many of the bills, bad bills that we took positions on, some of them actually did not make it through that they died. And so we are making a difference on this. And we’re really excited about that. But this is our position on this House Bill 1429 says the bill’s stated purpose is to streamline delivery of government services in welfare programs and to efficiently identify and remedy waste, fraud and abuse. The bill’s first step in efficiency is to hire 12 state employees to oversee 12 clusters of counties and then hire an outside contractor. The bill begins with costs to the taxpayer of $10 million and grows to $37 million. This bill is 79 pages long, punctuated with the egregious use of the safety clause. So cut is a no on this particular bill. And the legislature says, is over today. This legislative session is over today. Now, I know that we all have a sigh of relief. They will not be making any more new laws, egregious laws, but they have put in place, just as this bill does, the bureaucrats, the bureaucracies that will continue on. And these bureaucrats are not elected by us. They’re not accountable to us. And this is a real problem. It creates that fourth branch of government, unaccountable, unelected. by the people or to the people. And that’s all of these bureaucracies. So we’re going to go to break. We’re having a little challenge, I think, getting Dr. James Lyons Weiler on. So we’re going to go to break so that when we do get him on, we are not interrupted by a break. And Channel 7 reached out and wanted to get a statement from… from Colorado Union of Taxpayers regarding this Senate Bill 26135, which is disingenuous and it’s really dishonest. And this is our statement on Senate Bill 26135 because it… Hold on just one second. Let me give… Let me. Well, we do have him. OK, we were back and forth on on the text messages. So let me just give you the statement on Senate Bill 135. It requires the secretary of state to place a question on the November 2026 ballot, asking voters to approve the state retaining and spending more revenue for K through 12 public education, specifically an amount equal to what exceeds the state spending limit and to increase K through 12 funding by up to 2 percent annually for 10 years. After that, all the money can go into the general fund and the additional money above that 2% can go into the general fund. So this continues to fund the dismal performance of our schools. Based on the 2024 data, the Common Sense Institute noted that over half of the Colorado’s third graders are unable to read, write, or perform basic math at grade level. If the increased money available is not spent on education, the legislature can spend it any way it wishes. This legislation proposes this voter referendum for the purpose of bypassing TABOR, Colorado’s Taxpayers Bill of Rights, those limits and allowing the state to keep our TABOR refunds from money that the state has overcollected in taxes from us, the hardworking people of Colorado. So we are a hard no on that. We’ve got Dr. James Lyons-Weiler on the line with us. Dr. Jack, welcome.

Welcome, Kim. Listen, I wanted to shift and pivot this morning. I’m sorry about the late-breaking change in what we can talk about today. Do you know about Paul Thorson, who was extradited to the United States, allegedly for grant fraud related to vaccines and autism?
SPEAKER 18 :
No, I have not.
SPEAKER 08 :
Now, this is a big one. So this guy was contracted… Many years ago, over a million dollars in CDC grant money went to him. He was in Denmark. And the CDC tended to take the science on vaccines and autism out of country. We really couldn’t understand why when I first started studying this. But if you want to consider him an HHS or CDC contractor, he’s a Danish researcher. former CDC visiting scientist and administrator of CDC-funded research money. He’s been on the HHS OIG website as most wanted for a long time. Indicted in April 2011 on 22 counts of wire fraud and monetary laundering. He was arrested in Germany on June 5th, 2025. Finally extradited to the United States on May 8th, 2026. So he’s been on the most wanted list, living openly in Denmark since April of 2011. And he visited Germany and he got nabbed when he went over the border. So here’s the question. What did he know? There’s supposedly study after study that shows the vaccines do not cause autism. We’ve heard it in the media. We’ve heard it hundreds of times. And The Department of Justice now alleges that from February 2004 to June 2008, Thorson submitted more than a dozen fraudulent invoices and the forged signature of a CDC laboratory section chief. Doing what? What did he do? Well, they paid him to do a big study on vaccines and autism, and he never did it, but he submitted the invoices anyway. So he’s basically responsible for administering the money through an administrative chain. But this really isn’t just about CDC embarrassment that they get taken advantage of. The question is, what did everybody know? Why wasn’t the research done? Why did they tolerate it? So there was a 2003 paper published. In Pediatrics, entitled Dimerosal and the Occurrence of Autism, Negative Ecological Evidence from the Danish Population-Based Data, and Paul Thorson is on it. His co-authors included a guy named Madsen, and Madsen has been cited recently, and this study has been cited over and over and over, that vaccines do not cause autism. And it was ecological data, this population level, not everybody was going to be susceptible to thimerosal. Scientifically, you know, I and others disagree that that paper even supports what they think it supports. But what would happen if you turn state’s evidence? Is there a publication defense chain here? Are there other people involved? There’s a book by… A friend of mine, his name is James Grunvig. It’s called Master Manipulator. And this was published, and it names names of people who were involved. We’re looking at people like a person who was a rear admiral, Frank DiStefano, Colleen Boyle, all the while knowing that Frank DiStefano and Colleen Boyle not only were involved in vaccines do not cause autism, alleged manipulations of data and study design, but Frank DiStefano and Colin Boyle were also the people that our government found that could find that Agent Orange did no harm to our men and women in Southeast Asia. The same type of study manipulation And so they were so good at it, they hired them to put them in charge of this question in CDC. So we have, you know, these people are on an important study of MMR, mumps, measles, and rubella vaccine on the question of vaccines and autism. And that study was actually, there was a whistleblower who came out and said that they delayed the publication, that they manipulated the study groups to get the result that on-time MMR was associated with a higher risk of autism to go away. So we have a publication chain directly into the heart of the CDC of the same people that worked with Thorson. Now, I’m not the type of person to do guilt by association, but we do know that other people at CDC… that, uh, worked with Frank DiStefano and Colin Boyle, uh, include a guy named Walter Orenstein. Walter Orenstein is on the record of telling the institutes of medicine that they should not find, no matter what they look at, no matter what data they found, that vaccines are associated with autism. That was the directive that came from Orenstein and Orenstein actually, uh, was involved in quieting the, um, the whistleblower that came out and said that the on-time MMR vaccine. So if you want to keep an eye on CDC and what’s going to happen, we’re going to see, I believe, Paul Thorson turn state’s evidence. And that’s my understanding, my belief. If he turns state’s evidence, it’s not whether this is just a scandal, because that’s clear. The question is, if he helps prosecutors, Congress, and the journals, get a narrow answer to a dangerous question. Did CDC-funded autism and vaccine research suffer from the acts of corruption that misled the public? And if so, what do we do about it from here?
SPEAKER 18 :
So meanwhile, though, children all over America are still getting the MMR while this is going on. So how would you address that?
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s the question. So remember, when the first doctor came out and said that, hey, wait a minute, there seems to be some stomach issues in kids with autism who have had the MMR, and maybe autism is caused in part by problems with the lining of the intestine. And they happen to have also got the MMR. His name is Andy Wakefield. The press decided to follow the government’s lead to drag him through the mud, blind him, you know, cause him to lose his license and destroy this one man’s career. In the meantime, as you point out, Kim, we now know 100%. It is absolutely certain. And I never say that about anything in science. And kids with autism, there is a gut issue. So it’s not just, hey, you know, cover up the vaccines, autism point. It’s also let these kids suffer and keep suffering so that nobody figures out the vaccines might be associated some way in the causal chain in autism.
SPEAKER 18 :
So, Dr. Jack, we’ve got just a few minutes left out here in Colorado, this legislature, and this legislative session is over today. But they have passed legislation to basically now that Bobby Kennedy Jr., is in charge of Health and Human Services to no longer follow the CDC’s recommendations and things there. Colorado is still staying over here on this radical vaccine agenda. And that just breaks my heart.
SPEAKER 08 :
I would encourage everyone to get the film Vaxxed and Vaxxed 2, V-A-X-X-E-D, and watch it and contact your representatives and learn the names Frank DiStefano, Colleen Boyle, Paul Thorson, and read the history. Come over to the Popular Rationalism at Substack.com. I’ll be publishing an article on that. You’re going to have to repeat what would happen at the national level, at the state level, and educate your legislators. There’s something not right, something rotten in Denmark, especially on the questions of vaccines and autism. So look for that. title at popular rationalism on substack and all the links of everything that you need to be able to stand up for yourself and say that there should be choice about vaccines that there’s something wrong with the way that the u.s federal government potentially got involved to cover up the question of vaccines and autism and also to minimize the public’s perception and knowledge of vaccine injury especially with the hpv vaccine later on they did it again So have a good look. Even though there was a director of the CDC during this time who actually she actually left after making sure that allegedly after making sure allegedly making sure that no one thought that vaccines cause autism through CDC science. She got a very high ranking and high paying job at Merck, the manufacturer of the MMR vaccine. So that’s regulatory capture where you go get a job after you do the bidding of your corporate masters in a government job. And you do a good job. They’ll give you, you know, millions of dollars. Yeah. Yeah. A golden parachute. Yep.

Wow. Okay, Dr. Jack, thank you for the late breaking on this. We will talk with you again next month on this. This is really important. And I’m thinking there was a piece of legislation. We’re out of time. But it was something about where people can sue… possibly legislators, and it was all on a different issue. And these elections here in Colorado, I think are many of these candidates are very ostentatious. As I’m looking at Peter Brunegger’s, his ex-account, and he is saying that he has found proof that Phil Weiser, a candidate for governor, is smurfing. And what smurfing is, is that the donors are not doing anything dishonest. But what is happening, they may have made a contribution, and this is happening both on Act Blue, the Democrat side, and when read on the Republican side. is that somebody will make a contribution, and then their name and address will be used for many other contributions, and they don’t even know that that is happening. And Peter’s running reports on that. He said that Phil Weiser has moved to Colorado from the East Coast. Peter says this, Weiser’s from New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., that area. It says he says another person who moves to a state far away from their home and in a couple of years is at the top of state politics. And we have seen this time and time again here in Colorado. It seems very ostentatious to me. Our quote of the day is from George Whitefield. And he was born in 1714, died in 1770. He was an English Anglican priest and preacher who was one of the founders of Methodism and the evangelical movement. And he put many, many miles on horseback to bring the word, the word, The word of Christ to many here in the colonies. And he and Franklin were friends. But he said this. He said, press forward. Do not stop. Do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark that is set before you. And then lastly, the Colorado legislature. This is the last day of the legislative session. And I am pleased about that. They have put in place a number of new bureaucracies. And this House Bill 261429 is certainly one of those bureaucracies. And this is supposedly to streamline and get rid of fraud. It’s one of the things that they say in many of these government programs. But in essence, it starts with $10 million, increases to $37 million. It’s 79 pages. It doesn’t take 79 pages to actually streamline government. And so we are at hard no on that on the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. And we have these important discussions because we have many great sponsors. Hey, good morning, Kim.

It is good to have you, Lauren. And there’s been some news, I think, about a possible new head of the Federal Reserve or something. What’s the latest on that?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I think we’re just waiting for the final confirmation of the new federal new head of reserve. He’s supposed to take over here shortly. And then the controversy has kind of been the current Fed Chairman Powell, his Fed ship is over. So there’s no question there. He’s walking away from that. But he also is a governor. You know, you and I talk about the revolving, you know, like 18 positions or 12 vote every meeting. And he still is one of those 18. So he has two more years left on that appointment. And I guess what they’re saying is that it’s typical that when a Fed chairman leaves, he just leaves completely. Whereas Powell is wanting to stay on for the other two years of just being a voter. So we’ll see how that plays out. And then on top of that, we have that kind of stuff going on. But that’s not even an issue. Some of the issues we’re having is that today we’ve had some more inflation data came out that was a little bit hotter than what they were expecting, which I think we’re all kind of seeing at the grocery store and the gas pump, you know. And so that is causing the 10-year, like you and I always discussed, to start to creep back up almost to 450. So we’ve seen a little pressure on mortgage rates in the last, you know, especially the last week or so.
SPEAKER 18 :
Okay. And would you say this inflation is, these hotter numbers, are because of gas prices at the pump? Would that be a factor?
SPEAKER 06 :
I mean, I think some of it is. Yeah, I mean, honestly, it’s not just, well, Yes, it’s gas prices at the pump. Oil doesn’t just come through at the pump. It comes through a lot of things that we use throughout the day, whether it be plastic goods, a lot of manufacturing, it comes through in jet fuel. And so we see airline prices are higher. So the inflation comes through not just at the pump through oil, but through a lot of places, primarily through oil, yes. So the hope is that once we can find the end of this thing, whatever, that the prices will drop and this will be temporary, which would be great.
SPEAKER 18 :
Okay. And then, Lauren, you can help people with mortgages, second mortgages, reverse mortgages in 49 of the 50 states, just not New York. But the headlines that I am seeing regarding Kathy Hochul, who is the governor, that there’s a headline that says New York’s second home tax fuel fuels a wealth exodus. Hochul’s five million second home tax plans is facing pushback. This is crazy to me. We’re not only seeing this in New York, but other of these states that are being run by really radical activists that don’t understand that people that are successful, if you tax them too much, they’re going to leave.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, you’re seeing that primarily in California first, then New York. And then you’re seeing it stacked on top of, you know, whatever the governor does. And then you have the mayor of New York City who’s trying to do similar things on top of that, right? So it’s sometimes a double, triple whammy in some of these states when you tack on local tax with a state tax on top of it. So I agree. You know, there’s a lot of exodus, a lot of people that are saying, why would I? I love it there, but why would I pay all this money when I can go somewhere else and not pay it? I think we saw Tesla move a chunk of its operations to Texas. I mean, a lot of other companies have done something similar. I know Idaho has seen quite an exodus from the California area. So, yeah, it’s fostering a boom in other places and hurting those states for sure.

It’s crazy. We had 10 inches of snow last Wednesday, and let me tell you, the temperature today, the high is supposed to be 86. Go figure.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, no kidding. We would love to have a blizzard where our drought has just gotten to be severe.
SPEAKER 18 :
It is severe, and I do pray for rain for the Midwest and the West. And this was a very blessed snow that we had, a lot of broken branches. And it seems like either we need to trim our trees and keep them in good shape, or the good Lord will do it for us. And that’s what happened last Wednesday.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s much like managing the resource. Either we do it or the good Lord will do it mostly through fire. So that’s the world that we live in. You need to take care of what you have. We need to be stewards of the land, which by the way, uh, as a title of my column this week, I wouldn’t mind speaking about, and I have a Colorado tie, but we made our way to Oklahoma state university last week and we attended the graduation. It was, uh, It was a very good graduation. Oklahoma State happens to be the college right now that all the cool kids in livestock agriculture want to go to. And I was going to ask you, what is the commonality between Oklahoma State and Colorado State?
SPEAKER 18 :
They were both land-grant universities?
SPEAKER 10 :
They are both land-grant universities.
SPEAKER 18 :
Was that the answer you were looking for?
SPEAKER 10 :
No, it’s not. Colorado State was founded in 1870. Oklahoma State was founded in 1890, which I find that fascinating, to be honest, because Oklahoma didn’t become a state until what year? Did you know there would be quizzes today?
SPEAKER 17 :
I thought I was doing pretty well with the answer on the land grants.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, that was really good. That’s a true story. That’s not what I was looking for, but… What year do you think Oklahoma became a state?
SPEAKER 1 :
1890? 1907.
SPEAKER 10 :
1907? Yeah. So the college, the land-grant college, was 17 years before it became a state. I find that fascinating.
SPEAKER 18 :
That is fascinating.
SPEAKER 10 :
It was, you know, a territory because of India. It was Indian territory. But there’s only, I shouldn’t say that. I think there’s two. Both Colorado State and Oklahoma State started as Colorado A&M, Agricultural Mechanical. And both of them switched in 1957 from A&M to Colorado State, A&M to Oklahoma State. And do you know why they made the switch?
SPEAKER 17 :
Money?
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s probably the answer. What they say is that they no longer wanted to be perceived as an agricultural and mechanic school. They wanted to add a liberal arts program so that there was more diversity.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, all those years ago. That’s when this all started then, huh?
SPEAKER 10 :
I think at that time it was about money, though. I think you’re right. I think they wanted to expand the revenue potential.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, probably. CSU, and I have Rammies in my family and love CSU. However, CSU and Fort Collins is, I think, actually more… radical than bolder, um, from what I’ve seen. And it really stems back to, this is a little history for you. You’ve probably heard the, of the book, the blueprint where it talks about these four, um, very wealthy people came together to, to turn Colorado blue, uh, or radical blue. And that was Jared Polis, uh, rut bridges, Tim Gill and Pat Stryker. But it really the guy that brought them all together was a guy named Al Yates, who was and you’ll have to help me out. I can’t remember the chancellor or whatever at CSU. And that was in the 90s. And so he was turning CSU more radical. And there’s great professors there, but there’s also a real radical group. bent to CSU now. And it was Al Yates who was doing that at CSU, and he’s also the guy that brought the four of them together with this plan to turn Colorado to radical blue. Did you know that, Trent Luce?
SPEAKER 10 :
No, I did not. That’s all news to me. The part that I did know is that Colorado State has been lost at the administrative level for quite some time.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, and that’s how it happened. And then also then the city, the city council and the bureaucrats in Fort Collins are very radical as well. In fact, a number of listeners, Yvonne had mentioned this, another listener, Phoebe, we haven’t talked about this issue for quite some time, but the city of Fort Collins ended up having a contract with one trash hauler. Now, they said they weren’t going to get rid of competition. You could still have the other trash hauler, but you had to pay a fee to the city for the hauler that they made the agreement with. And even if you did not… not want to use a trash hauler, you still had to pay this fee. And I think that that’s… I know that they were fighting that. I think it’s still the case, though. That is what one would call cronyism. And that’s when government and business get in bed with each other. That is not capitalism. Capitalism would be having these trash haulers compete for your business. Cronyism. And they would offer lower prices, better service, all those things. But then when you have government giving contracts to… certain businesses, and you see this time and time again. When government and business get in bed with each other, the price goes up, the supply becomes limited, and the quality goes down just time and time again, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 10 :
We often condense that into one saying, and I’m not sure people follow it, it’s government picking winners and losers. But what you just described is the actual definition. It’s government deciding who’s going to be in business, get bigger, and put all the competition out.
SPEAKER 18 :
And that is antithetical to the American idea. And so that brings us around to elections are important. And you know Peter Brunegger, don’t you, with Wisconsin Center for Election Justice? Do you know him?
SPEAKER 10 :
No, I do not.
SPEAKER 18 :
Okay. Well, you should start to follow him on X because he has just made a post regarding Phil Weiser saying that he has been accepting what’s called Smurf contributions to his campaign. And you’re seeing this both on ActBlue, which is the Democrat fundraising arm, and also WinRed, the Republicans, is that somebody may make a contribution, but then they take that contribution information And the way I understand it is you’ll have a big dark donor that is actually trying to get money into a campaign. But the way they do that is then they use these people’s names. They’re not doing anything illegal. They don’t even know this is going on. But they’ll use these and make small contributions to these different campaigns. And it’s called smurfing. And Peter said, this is what he said. On his ex post, Phil Weiser smurfing big time into his campaign where he is running for governor in Colorado. This is pretty, pretty important. But with that, his competition over on the Democrat side is Michael Bennett, Senator Michael Bennett. And one of our listeners said, ask Trent. And what is this that possibly ranchers are supporting Bennett for governor? Have you been able to delve into that at all, Trent Luce?
SPEAKER 10 :
No, I have not.
SPEAKER 18 :
So you’ve not heard that?
SPEAKER 10 :
No, I haven’t heard that. I’m not aware of that. No, that’s not on my radar.
SPEAKER 18 :

Okay, Trent Luce, we’ve got things coming in on the text line from things that we’ve talked about, so we will get to that. But you said that you wanted to talk about Alpha Gal. And I thought, was this a very strong woman, or what is this exactly?
SPEAKER 10 :
I never thought about it like that. The Alpha Male, this is the Alpha Gal. No, I want to talk about that. But before we do, you know that yesterday was Nebraska’s primary, right?
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, you know, I did know that. But what’s the results? What happened?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, 21 percent of the eligible voters showed up. How embarrassing is that? And the most significant upset and there were not many upsets. Everything is incumbent. We had a challenger to our U.S. congressman, District three, that was he should have been elected. 13-year Border Patrol, young family from North Platte, Nebraska, and he got 35% of the vote, 20-year incumbent, who is just steeped in all of the money and the lobbying is going back to represent the 3rd District. But the Secretary of State is the most interesting because Bob Eviden has been our Secretary of State. He has resisted and will not allow any county who wants to do a hand count. He literally has threatened these clerks with, I think, prosecution or who knows what else, because many counties have wanted to just double check. Oh, you can use your computer to do the official, but we’re just going to count. And he has threatened these counties. Well, he’s not going to be threatening counties in 2027 because he was beat last night in the primary by challenger Scott Peterson. So Kudos to Scott Peterson. And finally, we had a little bit of a victory.
SPEAKER 18 :
And is Scott Peterson one that would like to verify these elections?
SPEAKER 10 :
100 percent. That was his campaign. He ran on that. I actually emceed a panel discussion that he was on, and he was an excellent choice. I think we’ll be in good shape unless somebody puts a fear of God in him from some other place.
SPEAKER 18 :
OK, OK, so that and then you’re so this will be then for the general election. He moves to the ballot there. OK, good news. Now, let’s talk about this alpha gal syndrome that you said you wanted to talk about.
SPEAKER 10 :
So four years ago, I heard about alpha gal syndrome, which it wants you. I just during that break, because I’ve been out and talking about it publicly this week, I got another lady. from Tennessee who sent me a note and said that she has it. But four years ago, I was told that they were incorporating ticks as a bioweapon, which, by the way, dates back to World War I, but that there was research being done and introducing a tremendous amount of alpha-gal to the Lone Star tick. And if you are bitten by this Lone Star tick that possesses the alpha gal, then you will develop a severe allergy to anything from a mammal, beef, pork, lamb, dairy products, even rabbits. And I had a friend who I just had, he’s from Southern Indiana. I had him on Trent on the loose about two months ago and he’s today would be his 29th day of rehabilitation he got it and I’ve just had this to back up just a little bit two months ago we started getting word and we see pictures and you never know how to look at what you see on social media but People were talking about there are boxes showing up in rural areas with these ticks and nobody knows where they’re coming from. And it’s like they’re increasing the prevalence of ticks. And then 30 days ago, have you ever been moral mushroom hunting, by the way?
SPEAKER 17 :
No, I have not.
SPEAKER 10 :
So I grew up. hunting moral mushrooms and they come out late April, May, depending on what the weather is. And it was a phenomenal year for mushrooms in East of the Mississippi, because there’s been a tremendous amount of rain East of the Mississippi. And the next thing, you know, my mom called and said that my uncle had gone mushroom hunt just three weeks ago. They took 70 ticks off of him. I got a phone call from a guy in Northeast Missouri. He called and let me know that, uh, All the Amish boys had been out hunting, and they were getting a number of ticks on them like they’d never seen before. Clearly, there is an increased presence of ticks, whatever that case may be. But what we’re now seeing, and the Center for Disease Control says that as of January 1, 2026, just short of 500,000 people had contracted alpha-gal syndrome, which, by the way, apparently never leaked. You deal with this the rest of your life. And so I was talking about that on another broadcast this week, and I got a call yesterday from a nurse, a retired nurse in Iowa, that said that the Lone Star Tick had brought to at least 15 people in their community in 2012 anaplasmosis. And she nearly died twice from internal bleeding. The reason I wanted to talk about it is because it’s clear that these ticks are being used as a bioweapon. And I thought it was worthy of sharing with people because they need to know and take precautions and do what you can to minimize your tick infestation.
SPEAKER 18 :
And how do you do that?
SPEAKER 10 :
The lady that I talked to yesterday that’s a nurse, she said, One way that we’ve been able to reduce the fly load on cows, and this is becoming a common process, is putting garlic in the mineral. And she said she’s been able to increase… She takes a mineral herself, takes a tablet, a capsule of mineral every day and has garlic in it. Garlic apparently is a wonderful… deterrent from ticks coming on you. I think accelerated coffee with caffeine is also a deterrent. Here’s the good news. If you look at a map of where the Lone Star tick habitat has been, Colorado is not included. The western half of Kansas is not included. But that seems to be expanding. So here we are once again. with something that we previously had not experienced that has suddenly become quite a problem. When I talked to Edwin in Southern Indiana, I mean, he thought he was gonna die. You go into kind of like an anaphylactic shock and your throat swells and he could barely swallow and then you break out in hives and that happens When you consume animal products, and I shouldn’t say animal products because chicken is not one of them, it’s animal. What happens is the alpha-gal actually gets into your bloodstream and then it modifies the sugars in your blood. And when you consume animal products from an animal that was lactating, in other words, a mammal, those sugars is what causes that reaction.
SPEAKER 18 :
So I’m just looking. This is AI. It says the alpha-gal syndrome was first identified in 2007. So this is certainly pretty recent.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, my friend Ingrid, who I have on from Australia, every Tuesday on Across the Pond, she thinks that alpha-gal started in Australia with an eastern shore paralysis tick. in the early 2000s as well.
SPEAKER 17 :
Wow. Very curious.
SPEAKER 10 :
I wanted to bring it to people’s attention so they can at least be somewhat. Here’s the thing. We continue to have all of these attacks, and I put that in air quote, come after us to not allow ourselves to just go out and enjoy what God created. Because I don’t want to prohibit anybody from going into areas where you normally get ticks. I mean, since I was a kid, you’d get a tick. You come in, you’re working cows, you’re doing whatever you do, you check yourself, you take the ticks off, and you go on. Now you can have one tick that will change your life forever.
SPEAKER 18 :
Hmm. So the solution is to, I like garlic and I like coffee, so should I put garlic in my coffee?
SPEAKER 10 :
I think I would double up on all of that, yes.
SPEAKER 18 :
Okay. Next thing, going back to the question from Jenny about the ranching community supporting Bennett, this is from another listener. Patty, she said she has a rancher friend who has coffee with all the Erie farmers and ranchers every week, and they are Republicans, and they think that Bennett is pro-agriculture and are voting for him. I find that… I find that extremely curious, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 10 :
I don’t know why they consider him to be pro agriculture.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah. So I guess the question would be, is what has he done that you would say is pro agriculture? Now, we had Ron Hanks on the in the hour number one. He is a candidate for Congressional District three. That seat is currently held by Republican Jeff Hurd. And Jeff Hurd has his name on legislation with Bennett and. Hickenlooper. So this would be federal legislation regarding the Gunnison Outdoor Resources Project. It’s called GORP. And it basically would take over 700,000 acres. And ultimately, I think it will make it hands off to human beings. And that could be for recreation, grazing, oil and gas. And I find it just crazy that Jeff Hurd has his name on that piece of legislation, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 10 :
So they’re asking for a wilderness designation?
SPEAKER 18 :
I don’t know exactly. Let me find it. I think it’s something like that.
SPEAKER 10 :
That would be the only federal provision to remove human interaction or human involvement at all is the wilderness designation.
SPEAKER 18 :
I don’t think they’re asking for that yet. So I think that many times this can be in steps. But this would be, I think, a first step towards that.
SPEAKER 10 :
It falls right in line with, again, this flawed farm bill. I want to eliminate all farm bills. I want to eliminate USDA. I want to get rid of government just for the very reasons you started this conversation with, picking winners and losers. But at a time when we have a restricted amount of land, particularly for cattle grazing, and our record low number of cattle is partially due to drought, partially due to fire, largely due to the lack of land to run cows to graze. And that’s becoming a bigger issue every single day. And yet in this Farm Bill, there’s many problematic components. But the one that jumps out at me very loudly is that there is a proposal in the Farm Bill to take the CRP acres from 23 million up to 40 million acres. And CRP is Conservation Reserve Program. It was initiated supposedly in the late 70s to take marginal land that has a high degree of potential for erosion and put that into what they call the set-aside program or something different. But it’s where you don’t farm it. You don’t really do anything to it. You get a payment per acre for signing it up into an 8-, 10-, or 12-year program. At a time when we are becoming very challenged in the number of acres to produce food, and you and I talked about the reduction of 27%, 27% less acres to produce food than we had in 1950. And now we have government incentivizing more land to come out of food production.
SPEAKER 18 :
Right. It makes no sense to pay farmers to not produce food on their land. And I think it’s absolutely crazy that we’re doing that. Let’s go to break. So let’s get through some of this. First thing regarding ranchers. Supporting Michael Bennett for governor, it says perhaps Bennett is offering ranchers freebies. And that’s one of the things is government cannot give to someone what they’ve not first taken from someone else. And the federal government doesn’t have the money to be giving away freebies or borrowing it from our next generations. And that’s something really wrong about that. Then Yvonne said this, in Fort Collins, residents pay for trash services they do not want, did not request, do not need, and do not receive. If they choose another hauler, they pay twice, the hauler of choice and the city of Fort Collins, not the city hauler. Oh, so they pay the city of Fort Collins. Again, this is what’s called cronyism, Trent Luce.

I did want to add something because somebody’s going to call or text you and say, hey, that’s not true. There is, with the CRP program that we talked about, a grazing provision where you can still graze and yet can get, and this is a new program within the last five years, where you can still graze and yet get the CRP payments. I personally know three people that are doing this. Two of those were not allowed to come back and graze. And, in fact, close to your old stomping ground, Sharon Springs, Kansas, I have a friend who had a 20-year pasture that the landlord, he was leasing this pasture. The landlord put it in the grazing CRP program and the payments exceeded what he was previously getting in grazing. So he just said, you know, I just don’t even want cows on there. So you can potentially graze up to 50% of what the capacity was. but it is just eliminating cattle grazing from the landscape. And cattle grazing is not just something to generate beef. It’s important for the ecosystem. In fact, there’s a tremendous amount of scientific data that shows when cattle, and I shouldn’t use cattle because this applies to all ruminants. When ruminants are grazing lands, migratory wildlife are 17 times more likely to utilize and land on that piece of land than if it’s not. CRP grows up in old growth. There’ll be weeds and whatever their residue from last year. That’s not a place that a bird, any migratory fowl is going to want to be a part of. They’re going to go to something where there’s fresh shoots and actually they can see predators coming at them.

And speaking of fresh shoots, this comes in from Jenny again. She says she has a friend in Nebraska that knows all about grass seed. And that’s what he does. He plants grass. He said the only good thing about the fire in Nebraska was the fire moved so fast that it didn’t burn the roots. And she wanted to know if you had heard that.
SPEAKER 10 :
So the Sandhills are unique to every other place when it comes to fire. Normally, if you don’t burn the roots, you’re going to have a good, I mean, look at the Flint Hills of Kansas. They burn that every year so that they get the new growth. There are places in the Sandhills that had fire six years ago that are still not grazing that land because right now the number one problem is The sand, because we’ve had so much wind, all of the root system is gone with all of the grasses. The drifts are like snow drifts, and it’s sand that is blowing off of these sand hills into roads and causing roads to be closed and everything else. I don’t know anybody in the sand hills who had a result of this fire that thinks they’ll be grazing that land again within two years. There are some meadows, which would be the low-lying areas, which is very close to the water table, that they think maybe there could be something later this fall. But it’s a two- to three-year process when a fire like this burns in the Sandhills.

Okay. Next thing, we only have a couple of minutes left, but I found this headline yesterday. This is from Fortune magazine. It said nearly 50,000 Lake Tahoe residents have to find a new power source after their energy source looks to redirect lines to data centers. This stopped me in my tracks. Had you heard this yet? Because this was, I think, just late breaking yesterday.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s happening everywhere. I mean, you see protests now. When I started talking about the dangers of AI data centers about a year ago, in fact, I have a friend, I’ll quickly tell this story. I have a friend who was a high school classmate of my mother’s and father’s in high school. Their son works in an AI data center in Dallas. I saw him in September. And I said, you know, I’m going to get them all shut down, right? So I hope not. He needs a job. I said, well, he needs a different job because this one drains the resources. That was complete news to him. And now all of the news feeds are talking about the water is gone. There are farmers that are being restricted on the amount of water that they can use this year. They’ve never had restrictions. There’s electricity issues everywhere these data centers are going. They still plan to put one in every county. And what you just described from Lake Tahoe is going to be commonplace because, you know, Utah just permitted a nine gigawatt AI data center in the flats of Utah. Nine gigawatts is nine times the amount of electricity that Denver uses on a 24-hour basis.
SPEAKER 18 :
It’s unbelievable. It is really unbelievable. And what has happened is I’m learning that oil and gas guys are now getting in favor of these data centers because they see this as many of them will be using oil and natural gas. And so they see that as a market for them where they have been so constricted. And so this is a real problem, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is, and that’s a challenge that we have in North Dakota as well because North Dakota has been on the forefront. The first one I’ve been to was in Ellendale, North Dakota, and particularly the coal people. I’m a fan of coal. They have been so restricted, particularly in Minnesota, that they’re seeing this as an avenue to continue to be in the business.
SPEAKER 18 :
So what we’ve got to do, yeah, and they want to stay in business. But as you say, they’ve been so restricted here in Colorado. Our oil and gas industry is so restricted that they’re looking for a lifeline. But this is not the right lifeline. The lifeline is to make sure that their product is available for everyday people to be able to thrive and flourish. Trent, we’re out of time. We’ll talk with you next week.
