And as a noun, it’s a medieval trumpet with clear, shrill tones or the sound of or as if of a clarion. And then number two, as an adjective, it could be brilliantly clear or loud and clear. And then clarion call is a strong request for something to happen. And that is one of the things that I think that we are in right now in our country, there is a clarion call for freedom. And what we see happening with all of these protests that very, as Jenny has said to me, call it what it is, is that they are trying to plan riots in a number of these different locations. And as I see reports of preparation in Los Angeles of giving protesters, I have that in air quotes, riot gear, that would mean that they’re actually looking at something that would be more of a riot, which that I would say is an insurrection. And so stay tuned on what’s happening with all of that. But there is a clarion call for freedom in America. And there are many voices out there working on that. And ours is one of those for sure. Since it is Friday, I go to the Medal of Honor quote book from the Center for American Values. The center is located in Pueblo on the Riverwalk, beautiful Riverwalk. They’ve done amazing work down there. And I’d recommend that you take the kids down sometime this summer to visit the center and enjoy the Riverwalk. Today’s quote comes from Joe M. Jackson, United States Air Force Medal of Honor recipient, born 1923, died 2019. And this is his citation. It said, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty, Lieutenant Colonel Jackson distinguished himself as a pilot of a C-123 aircraft. Lieutenant Colonel Jackson volunteered to attempt the rescue of a three-man United States Air Force combat control team from the Special Forces Camp at Camp Duke. were Cam Duck. Hostile forces had overrun the forward outpost and established gun positions on the airstrip. They were raking the camp with small arms, mortars, light and heavy automatic weapons, and recoilless rifle fire. The camp was engulfed in flames and ammunition dumps were continuously exploding and littering the runway with debris. In addition, eight aircraft had been destroyed by the intense enemy fire, and one aircraft remained on the runway, reducing its usable length to only 2,200 feet. To further complicate the landing, the weather was deteriorating rapidly, thereby permitting only one airstrike prior to his landing. Although fully aware of the extreme danger and likely failure of such an attempt, Lieutenant Colonel Jackson elected to land his aircraft and attempt to rescue. Displaying superb airmanship and extraordinary heroism, he landed his aircraft near the point where the combat control team was reported to be hiding. While on the ground, his aircraft was the target of intense hostile fire. A rocket landed in front of the nose of the aircraft but failed to explode. Once the combat control team was aboard, Lieutenant Colonel Jackson succeeded in getting airborne despite the hostile fire directed across the runway in front of his aircraft. Lieutenant Colonel Jackson’s profound concern for his fellow men at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Air Force and reflect great credit upon himself and the armed forces of his country. Just think about what that would look like in a movie. It’s unbelievable. But he said this, he said, it’s not only a person’s privilege, but also his duty to love his country and have the courage to defend it with honor, integrity, and his life if necessary. And again, that’s Joe M. Jackson, United States Air Force, for actions taken during the Vietnam War. And going into some of these headlines, I came across the wire last night that Israel struck… Iran. And this is from the BBC. It says Israel launched strikes across Iran on Friday, saying they targeted the heart of Iran’s nuclear program. The strikes killed Hossan Salami, chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards, a powerful branch of the country’s armed forces, other senior military figures, and nuclear scientists. Some civilians, including children, were reported among those killed. The BBC had not confirmed that as of this report. Since the Israeli military said Iran launched about 100 drones towards Israel on Friday morning, which the Israel Defense Forces IDF said it was intercepting. A state of emergency was declared in Israel. The U.S. said it was not involved in the strikes. Multiple strikes were reported, including on Iran’s main nuclear enrichment facility. And so this is a stay tuned, obviously. I think many of us look at this and realize we are in very serious times. And does this mean that we’re looking at World War III? What does this mean exactly? I think one of the things for sure is we want to make sure that we love and protect those that we care about. And that’s what we need to do each and every day. And there is an ideological battle that we are involved here in America. And we must engage in this ideological battle. That’s why we do the show, so that you can get your brain around these issues and understand what’s going on. And while all that is happening over in the Middle East. Next thing. And I had mentioned this just briefly. Well, well, let’s see. Two things. I think the first thing is, is this is from Rolling Stone, says a judge orders Trump to return the National Guard control order. And I think this is going to be very interesting to see what happens with that, first of all. Second of all, what Newsom does with this, because it looks like Newsom, Governor Gavin Newsom of California and Mayor Karen Bass have just basically stood by. and watched Los Angeles be destroyed. And so it’ll be really interesting to see what that means exactly. And then this was from the Daily Wire. It says, is distributing riot gear to Los Angeles anti-ICE agitators. And I also had read a piece at Daily Wire that this is not really about anti-ICE. This is multiculturalism is what happens. Multiculturalism does not unite us. It divides us. And years ago, when I was on the board of Lutheran Family Services, I was on the board for six years. So I learned a lot as I was watching this course. These are these NGOs that had become very involved in bringing people to our country. We’re now looking at that, realizing that many of these people are here illegally. And what happened was they were not assimilated into America. They were also given a bunch of free stuff to come here. And that is not going to work because it does not unite us. It does not teach people what has made America great and what has made America good. And so all of those actions and that was back in the 90s. What we are seeing now is we are seeing what has happened with this multiculturalism. Multiculturalism does not unite as it divides us. And that’s where we’re at right now. So we need to come together. We need to unite around this vision of our declaration. We’ve got the template. As Yvonne Paez has said, the way out, we’ve got the template, and that is our vision of our declaration that all men are created equal with these rights from God of life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. That’s what we need to conserve, preserve, and protect. And we have all of these important discussions because of our sponsors and greatly. Oh, you know what? And Mindy Bannon, Mayor Jordan, welcome to the show.

Good morning, Kim, and thank you so much for having me. As a Colorado native and Douglas County resident for over 20 years, I want to make sure that the values that brought my family here are protected. And home rule impacts nearly every area of government and how it responds to the needs of citizens. I support home rule, but it’s critical that we learn from the experiences, both good and bad, of other Colorado counties and other states. Many areas must be covered during the transition to home rule. I am fully prepared and qualified to ensure our new home rule charter considers all of these. And there’s three that my campaign is focused on. First is reforming taxation and enforcing TABOR. Second is guaranteeing the continued effective operation of the county’s core services. And third is maintaining the rapidly growing road infrastructure of the county. Kim, the power and flexibility of Home Rule imposes great responsibilities, and there are many other areas that must be addressed in the conversion to ensure our new Home Rule Charter creates a county government that effectively and efficiently serves its citizens.
SPEAKER 07 :
So that was going to be one of my questions was you are in favor of home rule. Yes, correct, yes? Yes, correct. Okay. One of the questions, Mindy, is it seems like this is being fast-tracked, that the citizens of Douglas County weren’t really aware that this was coming down the pike, and now we have this election. Ballots are out with the question of should a commission be put together to explore coming up with a charter, and then all of these different names that people can vote for in your name. Mindy Bandebeer-Jordan is on, I think, At Large, correct?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes, correct. So anyone in Douglas County is able to vote for the At Large candidates, and there are seven of us running. I am one of them. And I do agree that this was fast-tracked, but even though we didn’t have control over the timeline, we have to respond. And so I think it’s very important that we have voices of citizens on this chartered.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, and this commission, if elected, would have 21 members, correct?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes. There’s three that will be voted on for at-large and six from each district, and there are three different districts.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay. So what do you think that this will – this is going to be a monumental task, I think, Mindy, to get – if approved to put this charter commission in place and elect these different charter members, then the actual charter questions would be on the ballot this November. Is that right?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes. So the commission will come together starting in July. Okay. The ideal is to have it on the November ballot, but state law does give us 240 days to create the actual charter, so if we miss that deadline, that’s okay. We still have time. We do not need to fast track the process of actually creating and documenting our charter. We also have 46 different articles that would need to be addressed, and that is also provided to us by the state constitution of what those things are. You know, we kind of have a little bit of a framework what we would need to be filling out. I know that other people that are running for this position have started to look at those 46 items. I have as well. And so I believe that when we come together in July that we’re already going to have some ideas to get the ball rolling. But I am not in favor of fast tracking or condensing our timeline to the 60 days.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay. So next question on this is some of the flyers that are coming out have said that from a home rule standpoint that Douglas County could then push back on much of the onerous stuff that has been happening down at the Colorado State Legislature. And I’ve heard some people say, yes, that could happen. Others say, no, that cannot happen. So what’s your thoughts on that, Mindy Vandermeer-Jordan?
SPEAKER 14 :
We do have to abide by the state constitution first and foremost. We don’t get to be exempt from that. And then any laws that are passed at the state capitol, we do have to abide by unless there’s an exemption written in there for home rule counties. What our county would then have the ability to do if we feel that it’s infringing on our rights is be able to bring lawsuits against the state saying that they’re going against our constitutional rights.
SPEAKER 07 :
Couldn’t that be done without doing home rule? Or does it have to be home rule to make that happen?
SPEAKER 14 :
There are some limitations. So, you know, we’ve all experienced our property taxes going up. And I know that the county has tried to sue the state or go around certain things to alleviate some of that tax burden, and the state has pushed back saying that we don’t have the authority to do that. So that is one instance where Home Rule would give us the ability to say, no, we’re advocating for our citizens, and we want to lower our property taxes, and this is how we’re going to do it.
SPEAKER 07 :
Gosh, it sure seems like we should. If our elected representatives want to lower our taxes, it sure seems like they should be able to do that, Mindy. I agree.
SPEAKER 14 :
I agree.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, so let’s see. Another question that’s been out there is a lot of citizens did not know about trying to apply or to get their name on the ballot to be one of those to be considered to be one of the 21 charter commissioners. How did you find out about all this, Mindy?
SPEAKER 14 :
So I helped run my dad’s state senate campaign last year. And some members from our team actually emailed me, making me aware of the process and encouraged me to get my name in. And otherwise, without our team, I wouldn’t have been aware either. And I will say that it is a lot of already elected officials that are on the ballot. I am one of the few that’s just an actual Douglas County citizen.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I think that’s important to have citizen input as well. And I’ve seen the names of many of the people that’s on the ballot, and I know many of them and all fine people. So I and I appreciate you stepping forward to have your name on there as well. Mindy, what’s your final thought on all this regarding you running for this charter commission?
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, Kim, I want to thank you again for having me on your show this morning. I want your Douglas County audience to know that I will be their voice on the Home Rule Commission. While I believe the City and County Commissioners will have valuable input on the new Home Rule Charter, the Home Rule Commission itself, I believe, should be independent. If all the at-large seats are filled by the incumbent commissioners, the voices of the average citizen will be shut out. And I urge everyone to vote both ballot questions. That is, even if they vote against Home Rule, vote for the members of the commission you think will represent your interests. That way, if Home Rule passes, your voice will be heard when the new charter is written. I am Mindy Vandermeer Jordan, and I’m running for an at-large seat on the Home Rule Commission, and I’m asking for your vote.

You should not have to force people to do it. And some of these other headlines that we are watching, and Lauren Fix had texted me yesterday that she said that the EV mandate is officially gone. And that is big news. She’s going to be our featured guest on today. Monday. So we will be talking with her about that. And this is so interesting, though. It says this is from Reuters. It says California and 10 other states sue to block Trump from killing the 2035 EV rules. And it says this group of and I think Colorado is one of them. It says a group of 11 states led by California on Thursday filed suit challenging a repeal by Congress of the state’s 2035 electric vehicle rules and heavy-duty truck requirements. It says President Donald Trump signed these three resolutions approved by lawmakers. So I don’t think that California has a leg to stand on on this, barring California’s electric vehicle sales mandates and diesel engine rules, including to borrow California’s landmark plan to end the sale of gasoline-only vehicles by 2035. Now, let’s connect this particular dot. Here we have all of these demands on the electric grid and all of these demands for electricity, and then also trying to reduce affordable, reliable, efficient, and abundant energy from oil, natural gas, and coal. So they’re trying to create more demand and by outlawing gasoline-only vehicles by 2035, and then increasing the price of electricity as well. And so it really puts everyday people in another squeeze. And it says, the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Northern California… includes New York, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Washington State, said the vote by Congress was unlawful, really, and asked a judge to declare the resolutions have no effect on the status or enforceability of state emissions controls program. This is government out of control. This is California out of control. And so this is a very big headline. Stay tuned on that because this is really all about our freedom of mobility. Next headline that I wanted to mention, and in this big, beautiful bill, we have talked about things that I’m concerned about. And two of those things are, well, I’m concerned about CO2 pipelines, transmission line corridors, and the other thing, and that plays into the transmission line corridors, plays into this whole AI thing, artificial intelligence. And we’ll be talking with Virginia Maka in the second hour. a little bit more about that, because these transmission line corridors, and next week we’ll have a guest on from Elbert County, where it’s a huge land grab. And then I’m also concerned about all this data that’s being collected on Americans. I think that we We should put a stop to that is what we should do. But there’s some really good stuff in this big, beautiful bill as well. So if we could peel out the things that we don’t like, that would be great. So this is from the Associated Press. It says the House approves Trump’s request to cut funding for NPR, PBS and foreign aid. And this is this rescissions package that we talked with Wade Miller about recently, where he said that the president was going to send over this this nine point four billion dollar package. to see what Congress would do with it. And it looks like Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House, and the House has delivered. It says the House narrowly voted Thursday to cut about $9.4 billion in spending already approved by Congress as President Donald Trump’s administration looks to follow through on work done by the Department of Government Efficiency when it was overseen by Elon Musk. The article goes on to say the package targets foreign aid programs and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which provides money for national public radio and the public broadcasting service, as well as thousands of public radio and television stations around the country. The vote on this was 214 to 212. Republicans are characterizing the spending as wasteful and unnecessary. But Democrats say the recisions are hurting United States standing in the world and will lead to needless deaths. Cruelty is the point, Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York said of the proposed spending cuts. The Trump administration is employing a tool rarely used in recent years that allows the president to transmit a request to Congress to cancel previously appropriated funds. That triggers a 45-day clock on which the funds are frozen pending congressional action. If Congress fails to act within that period, then the spending stands. Under President Trump’s leadership, your taxpayer dollars are no longer being wasted, how Speaker Mike Johnson said after the vote. Instead, they are being directed towards priorities that truly benefit the American people. So very pleased with that as well, that they’re delivering on that. So next headline that I wanted to mention is that Governor Polis said, reacted to this repeal on all greenhouse gas emission standards for fossil fuel-fired power plants. And this also is very important. And this is from Fox 31. It says Polis reacted to this proposal and in his response said proposing to gut air quality standards for power plants in the country risks the nation’s air quality and slows progress in the transition to clean energy. Now, there’s all these words. First of all, we just have to challenge that term clean energy. We have come to realize that solar panels and wind turbines are not recyclable, so they are not clean, that we are putting them into landfills, that there are chemicals in solar panels that are detrimental to the soil. And so we have to, first of all, just challenge that. But again, the radical activists, progressives are very good at language, and we need to not cede the term clean energy to them. He went on to say, he said, well, the administration’s proposal is disappointing. I’m unfortunately not surprised to see the president slash through standards that protect our clean air from reckless polluters and force ratepayers to pay more for high price legacy coal power. There’s so many mistruths in that I don’t even know where to begin. First of all, we don’t want to be reckless polluters. And already Xcel Energy is charging more and more for people to be able to have their energy. And of course, with these smart meters, people are charged more at certain periods of time. And so we need to, again, push back on this. Coal can be abundant. It is abundant and it is affordable energy. So, again, continuing on with what Polis had to say, Polis is really the people that he has in place are really radical activists. Colorado is in trouble. And anyway, it went on to say that the EPA on Wednesday proposed that the Clean Air Act make a finding that greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel fired power plants do not contribute significantly to dangerous air pollution. The agency further proposed that the Clean Air Act find that the EPA must find greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants contribute significantly to dangerous air pollution as a predicate to regulating greenhouse gas emissions from those plants. Polis said Colorado still plans to phase out coal power and maintain protecting air quality is critical for the health of our communities and kids. And nobody wants dirty air. And the implication that we do is crazy. And we have gotten to a point where we can scrub the coal in these coal plants so that it is clean burning coal. And he really should be focused on providing abundant, efficient, affordable and abundant and reliable energy. to the people of Colorado instead of using this boot on our necks to make life more and more expensive. All of these things in taking care of the environment ultimately is anti-human flourishing. And humans can flourish and coexist and take care of the planet as well and be good stewards of our land. and our waters and our air and we all want that and so i would recommend that you check out uh the documentary a climate conversation a very important documentary it is the project of walt johnson i had the great honor to moderate that you can watch it for free at a climateconversation.com but what we kind of realize is that this whole narrative of climate And climate change is being used to control every aspect of our lives. He is with Interstate Trucking Company. And Anthony, welcome to the show. Good morning.

Good morning. How are you?
SPEAKER 07 :
I am doing well. And you were referred to me by Lauren Fix and wanted to talk with you a bit about the trucking industry. And so tell us a little bit about your company, first of all.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. So we are Interstate Van Lines Incorporated. We’re a moving company based out of Springfield, Virginia, in the DMV area. And we operate about 75 company vehicles in and around the DMV area, but also have about 30 owner-operators that what we call go pond to pond or, you know, from the East Coast to the West Coast and back.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay. And I am always amazed as I see the big rigs on highways and then also in cities making deliveries. And particularly during COVID, I was looking at our truckers, our truck drivers, and thinking, thank you for moving these goods and products across the nation so that everyday people can thrive and flourish in their lives. And so I thank you so much for that.
SPEAKER 16 :
I appreciate that because I also hold my commercial driver’s license, so I’m very fond of when we hear that thank you, and I like to use the phrase, trucking moves America.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, it does really move America. And you are the Director of Safety and Compliance for Interstate Trucking. And recently, Sean Duffy, the Secretary of Transportation, signed something that said that each truck driver needs to be proficient in English. What’s your thoughts about that, Anthony Triggs?
SPEAKER 16 :
So my thoughts on that is it’s always been in the regulations. It’s just really brought it to the forefront. And, you know, I like to think of it as common sense. When you look at it and do some research, there’s only really five states that have traffic signs that are not English, that might be in another language. And three or four of those states are along the Mexican border. The other two that I’m referring to would be Puerto Rico and Hawaii. But everyone else is Each of those states, all the traffic signs, road signs are in English, and if a driver cannot read those traffic signs, how are they going to operate safely?
SPEAKER 07 :
I think that that’s a really valid question. Is there people out there driving trucks that can’t speak English?
SPEAKER 16 :
At our company, no. We make certain that we have that, and we even use some individuals on a visa program that come in for labor because we’re special. As I mentioned, we’re a moving company, so our primary situation is labor first to be able to move household goods, and then it’s a privilege to drive here at Interstate, and they have to be qualified to drive here. but we want them to be able to speak English fluently and to be able to communicate with our customers as well as to be safe out on the nation’s highways and to operate. I’m sure there might be some challenges out there in the nation, but for the most part, referring back to what Sean signed into recently, there’s even some things in the regulations that go through how an officer is going to determine whether a driver can operate speak fluently or be able to interpret the road signs.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay. So Anthony, some other things that Lauren had mentioned that she thought was important that we talk about, and that is the use of two-way facing dash cams with drivers in the case of an incident. So tell us just a little bit about that because I don’t think a lot of people know about that.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. So I’ll back up here and I’ll just share a little bit about my experience real quick. I’ve been in the business now in the trucking world for over 25 years and have about 15 plus years in dual-facing event recorders. I like to refer to them as event recorders because when you say dash cam sometimes to a driver, when you say the word camera, you think of a snapshot. These dual-facing, it’s outward facing, so it’s going to see traffic and what’s happening out in front of the vehicle. as well as inward facing, it is in the cab. There is a perception that that’s an evasion of privacy, but it’s not. It’s there directly to exonerate the driver and really highlight that the driver is doing everything that they were supposed to be doing at the time of the event. And really how they’re utilized and why I’m excited about it here at Interstate is, as I mentioned, previous situation, I had about 15 years in this situation. And We just started implementing them here at Interstate, not because of our crash statistics saying, hey, we needed them, but it was the main point I just made. It’s about driver exoneration because when you look at crashes with commercial motor vehicles, a lot of times the stigmatism is it’s the big bad truck driver that caused the crash. But if you look at a statistic that the FMCSA produces, it says crashes involving commercial motor vehicles often have complex causes, but studies suggest that passenger vehicles are drivers are more frequently at fault in collisions with large trucks. And according to those reports from the FMCSA, a significant percentage of crashes involving CMVs, commercial motor vehicles, are initiated by errors made by the non-commercial vehicle operator. And as I mentioned, I have a CDL, commercial driver’s license, and it takes special training and time to obtain that. It’s just not studying for a written test and passing it and then going out with someone, you know, an officer to say that I’m certified. You’ve got to really study the the intricacies of the vehicle, air brakes, things like that, and have a knowledge and be able to talk through an air brake test, things like that, to demonstrate that you have the skills to operate that piece of equipment safely.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and to drive a big rig, I think that you really have to be on your game because what you just mentioned is passenger vehicles. Many times I don’t think people may be busy. They’re not paying attention. We do really need to pay attention. But we need to give the big rigs some room as well. And sometimes zipping in and out of traffic, those kinds of things can cause accidents. And we, the public that’s driving these passenger vehicles, we can do a lot to help with safety on the road, yes?
SPEAKER 16 :
That is a great point, Kim. One of the principles that we stress and we teach is safety. You know, one of those tractor trailers at 55 miles an hour is going to take a football field plus the two end zones to get stopped. So they’ve got to have space to be able to get stopped. And when you see passenger vehicles cutting in and out in front of a tractor trailer, that’s a serious situation because there’s no way that that truck is going to be able to or that driver is going to be able to apply the brakes in time and for the air brakes to react to stop that truck. As I mentioned, it’s going to take at least a football field plus the two end zones. And then there’s blind spots on the tractor trailer. Normally the typical area is that right front corner blind spot, which would be right out the passenger side of the truck. There’s a technique that a driver can use, which would be to kind of sit up in the seat, raise their – butt cheek right up out of the seat a little bit and lean and look over to that direction. But it’s still that right front corner blind spot is a serious situation if a car is hanging out in that right front corner blind spot. There’s some other blind spots directly behind a tractor trailer is another one that I would just highlight. And sometimes, you know, Passenger vehicles believe, hey, following a truck is a safe thing, but I would say back off, give them some space, and let that truck driver be able to see you in their mirrors because if they can’t see you in your mirrors and you can’t see your reflection in their mirror, you’re too close.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, and also then regarding in town with a big rig. So near where I live, there’s a Costco. So many times there will be big rigs that are delivering products there. And I am actually, I’m just amazed as I watch big rigs navigate through urban traffic. It is amazing to me what these men and women do.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes, they’re going to be delivering into areas, just like you mentioned, Costco, that they’re going to have to navigate with pedestrian traffic, personal vehicle traffic, and they have to be on their game going into their situations. And specifically with us, we’re going into residential neighborhoods sometimes with those tractor-trailers as well as straight trucks, and we’ve got to be cognizant of low-hanging wires and just every obstacle that comes could come out in front of us, we’ve got to be aware of that. So it does take a professional driver to be in that seat and take those precautions and identify those risks.
SPEAKER 07 :
So let’s back up again to Secretary Duffy then. Are you seeing different things for the trucking industry under Secretary Duffy than what you’d seen with the previous administration?
SPEAKER 16 :
I would just say that The things that we are seeing or experiencing, they’ve been in the regulations. We’re just seeing them come forward and really be in the forefront in the news media a lot. But it’s things that if you’re a good, safe company, you’ve been aware of and you’ve been operating those principles to begin with.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, I think that’s really important. And we need to really appreciate our truckers, our truck drivers, those driving the big rigs, because we take it for granted, all of the great products that we have at our disposal, and we really have taken that for granted. And I really thank you and our trucking industry for making Americans be able to thrive and prosper, Anthony Triggs.

Well, absolutely. So what’s your quick final thought you’d like to leave with our listeners?
SPEAKER 16 :
So quick final thought, I’d just like to go back to the dash cams or event recorders. Companies like us have telematics that are really probably the biggest word out there is electronic logging devices. But that device gives us telematics that’s connected to the truck that gives us things like the speed of the truck and things like that, that we have items such as speeding alerts set up, like as you mentioned, going into residential areas so that we monitor those things and be able to help our drivers perform at a high level. And the event recorders or dash cams is just tying into those telematics, and it’s just helping the drivers continue to get better, hone their skills. A couple of the things that we’ve heard from our drivers from installing them – And I’ll just coin the phrase, it makes them a better driver. It just identified some small habits that they may have developed that they’ve corrected. And, again, the reason why we really put them in is for driver exoneration to show what our drivers are doing out on the nation’s highways. If there is a crash, we can protect them.

And what is liberty? It is the responsible exercise for freedom. And here we are all these years later, 250 years later, and what we’re seeing with this weekend, tomorrow is Flag Day. It is also Donald Trump’s birthday. And it is also a call by left-wing activists to do protests. And I have that in air quotes because there will be some that will just be protests and And I will always support people being able to protest peacefully. I always will support that. However, we see that there is this kind of poking the bear, trying to create some kind of an incident with what we’re seeing in Los Angeles and even here in Denver with these protests. They’re not really protesting against ICE. What they’re protesting against, they’re protesting against America, the American. And what is America? America is not perfect. We know that. But what is America? It was this country that was founded on this idea that all men are created equal with these rights from God of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. and that we, instead of having kings, that we could govern ourselves. And, of course, the implication on this nokings.org is they’re trying to portray that Donald Trump thinks that he is a king. However, what I am seeing is he is trying to go through the proper process the proper procedures to get government back into the proper role that it is supposed to be. And he has had to act fast. And we saw that he got a lot done immediately. And then when these activist judges then started to put injunctions in place on a variety of things, we realized they’re trying to throw sand in the gear. gears to get to 2026, where they hope that the radical activists that are controlling the Democrat Party can then win either the House or the Senate and stop the good work that is being accomplished in the Trump administration. And so we’ve got to continue to be talking about this and understanding this. And, and I would say the delivering of riot equipment and bricks to some of these, it’ll probably, it’ll primarily be blue cities to end destroying people’s businesses. And just think about the cost to replace businesses and, this is, it’s, it’s really insane. And so we have to watch what’s going to happen tomorrow. It’s going to be a big deal, but we do have one King. And, uh, as a Christian, that is our, my faith in Jesus Christ. He is the King. Uh, he is the King. The rest of us then, uh, are, um, we are human beings that are redeemed by Christ. And so that is the King there. And I, I, um, It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens tomorrow. So let’s go ahead and get into our word of the day. It’s clarion. And it could be, as a noun, it’s a medieval trumpet with clear, shrill tones. Or it could be the sound of a clarion. Or number two, it could be brilliantly clear, loud and clear. or as in a clarion call, we need to have a loud and clear call to reclaim freedom for everyday Americans. Those that are saying no more kings on these, again, these protests slash riots, which will happen in some of the cities, is that actually what they want is they want government to be the king, and they want to be in control of that government, So they want to be kings over all of us. So the left is so it’s so interesting their language that they use. They’re brilliant at it. But we need to realize that, yes, America was has does not have a king. We have a government that is of the people, by the people and for the people. And we have our Bill of Rights, which was put in place, which I find amazing, is James Madison, as he’s known as the father of the Constitution, as he was talking with the different states to get them to ratify the Constitution, some of the states said, hey, we want a Bill of Rights. And Hamilton had said, well, you know what, if the power is not delegated to the federal government in the Constitution, then the federal government doesn’t have that power. However, there were many that said, we want to make sure that we do have a Bill of Rights. And Madison assured them if they ratified the Constitution, that he would make sure that they got the Bill of Rights in, which they did. So obviously, the First Amendment is so important, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion. But the Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear firearms so that we can protect ourselves and our families against bad actors was paramount to the founders. Absolutely, Ken. I mean, we have a number of Second Amendment groups here in Colorado, but unfortunately, they don’t always get along. So we try to work with all those groups and we try to bring them together with our projects like we did with the rallies at the Capitol this year. And like we have with several legislative briefs and legislative events that we’ve held to try to join forces with these guys and bring everybody together so that we can stand strong together and fight back against this tyranny we’re seeing against our constitutional rights.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and Teddy, one of the first things that tyrants do is they disarm the people. And I really think that that’s one of the things that’s happening. Just think about this, Teddy. So everyday people, look at Los Angeles, where we’re seeing that Karen Bass, the mayor, and Gavin Newsom, the governor, have kind of stepped back and let these rioters destroy property. Well, one of the reasons we have the Second Amendment is so that everyday people can have a firearm to protect themselves and their property from bad actors like this. So you have to say, well, why would there be legislation and rules and regulations to try to keep law-abiding citizens from having firearms? But the bad guys can always get firearms, right?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, the fact of the matter is criminals don’t care about the law. That’s why they’re criminals. They will find ways to break the law and commit crime. And the only thing that these firearms laws are doing, these restrictions on law-abiding citizens, is they’re doing just that. They’re restricting the law-abiding. They’re not restricting the criminals. They’re emboldening the criminals.
SPEAKER 07 :
But the narrative is they say that to say, for example, the suburban educated woman that thinks that if you say, OK, criminals, you can’t have a firearm, that they’re going to not have a firearm and then our communities will be safer. The opposite is the case, Teddy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Correct. And we see that in the states that have some of the strictest gun restrictions, some of the biggest infringements on the Second Amendment. You see that in places like Chicago, which now, as of this year, only has one firearm store left in the entire city, whereas a few years ago, before they enacted their strict restrictions on firearms, had 20 or 30 firearm stores within Cook County. Now we’re down to one, and yet crime has just soared in that city, and we see shootings every night, gang violence every night, robberies every night, things of that nature. And I just want to just point to a key fact that you stated. You stated that the governor of California and the mayor of L.A. are just kind of sitting back and letting things burn. This is Nero. This is an example of Nero fiddling while Rome burns.
SPEAKER 07 :
And so that’s why the work that you’re doing is so important at the Second Syndicate. Alicia Garcia, who works with you at the Second Syndicate, we published a very important piece, The Big Beautiful Backfire. And you were concerned about the Big Beautiful Bill was trying to do something that would protect our Second Amendment rights, but unless they add in this hearing protection actors that information into the bill it would make it basically illegal for coloradans to have suppressors on their firearms which actually reduces the sound so that it brings the decibels down and you both are keeping us informed on that you were taking some action last week has anything happened on that
SPEAKER 10 :
So we’ve submitted our letter to Congress and to Senator Crapo of the Senate Finance Committee. They have received it, from my understanding, from what we’ve been told. They are thankful that they have received that, that we’ve notified them of this because they were unaware. that this would affect close to 19 states from what we’re being told, 17 for sure, and there’s two that are maybes that this would have affected. It’s because of poor state law wording. And unfortunately, we have such an anti-gun legislator and anti-gun governor here in the state of Colorado that we wouldn’t have any help from them to fix this. So it’s going to have to fall to Congress to fix the wording of this bill and include Section 3 and Section 4 of the Hearing Protection Act. Section 4 would be an amazing win, by the way, not just for Colorado, but for any state that has anti-gun laws, because that would be federal preemption. And just to kind of give you an idea of what that means is that would mean that federal law preempts state law, and the state could not further regulate federal gun law. So that means that Senate Bill 25-003, the semi-automatic ban that passed this legislative session, would be null and void. It couldn’t be enforced because it would further restrict federal law. That means that The magazine capacity restriction that we have here in Colorado of 15 rounds would also be null and void because it could not it could not be enforced on top of federal law. Federal law would be the standard that Colorado would have to live by.

And so we’re going to try to unpack some of that here. Virginia Maka, welcome. Good morning, Kim. How are, how’s everyone in Colorado? Well, we’re pretty good, except I tell you, it feels like the boot of government is just really stepping on our necks out here in Colorado, Virginia, Maka.

I don’t think Colorado is just singular there. I believe we see that across all States. And, um, It has been an eye-opener this weekend because we now see the one big, beautiful bill has created an opportunity to have a conversation about states’ rights versus feds’ federal rights. And as your last guest had spoke about guns, AI has come into the crosshairs with the one big, beautiful bill. So that’s been a very interesting discussion this week, especially in the tech world, as each state rushes to create these data centers. So today I thought, let’s unpack a little bit about data and talk about maybe what’s going to impact individuals and the data that you may not know might be impacted.
SPEAKER 07 :
Virginia, I remember I met, this was early on when we started to broadcast the show, and maybe even before, before I was solo, is I met with two women, very, very informed, that were concerned about data collection on our children. And they said that data is the new oil, the new gold. And I thought, really? Really? But in preparation for our interview today, you’ve sent over quite a bit of information. And I think it’s true is I had no idea that our children, that there is all kinds of data that’s being collected on them, obviously without their permission. And I wonder how we can get this walked back. But I think I saw a number that you sent over that data that was collected on children in Kansas from the public schools, that the public schools received millions of dollars for that data. So tell us a little bit about that.
SPEAKER 08 :
Kim, you know, in 2020, we learned so much and we were at home with our children and my governor in our state, decided to lock all the businesses down, and the state completely was locked down, no businesses open. And as a freedom-centered person, I said, no, this isn’t going to happen. And as I traveled across the state, what I was hearing from parents that were actually – watching their children online hearing what was going on in the classroom was mortifying to them and I became almost a community bulletin board handing me pieces of paper and things that our children were studying and it really mortified me because on top of trying to get businesses opened in Kansas and being out on the road Delivering a little bit of hope to people, giving people permission to come out and celebrate America. I became very interested in the data. And so in 2021, I went to my first educational hearing at the Capitol and I continually heard that word. It’s a four letter word data. And you think it’s not that important. And what I learned at that hearing with other moms that I brought there was they were actually enrolling their children. And when they were enrolling their children, they were giving permission for our Department of Education through federal grants to collect and document data that They were issuing in the classrooms through surveys, simple surveys. And so it was an opt out only. You were opt in automatically. So I worked for several months on an opt in only where parents would have to sign on the dotted line with giving permission that it’s okay to collect all this data on my child. It had to be in writing. It couldn’t be a little square that you just click off. And the resistance I saw from legislators, from lobbyists was massive. And so I decided to start educating moms and dads and I had to do a little education myself. as a background in engineering, it’s the data that drives the project. You don’t manipulate the data because it has to tell you something at the end. And it was really an eye opener when I went over and just started tracking through the federal education department, these grants, what they were collecting, and what our children’s future looked like because it was not focused on reading, writing, math. It was not focused on building our kids into critical thinkers. And so I went on a four-month tour across Kansas talking to parent groups. And it’s all about the education, isn’t it, Kim? Educating yourself. It’s the fine lines we don’t read. It’s the just click the box so that you can get to the next screen. And parents slowed down and they started, we created these forms that you were going to opt your child out at the local level. And when we had parents doing that, It interrupted the entire process of our schools distributing federal grant money, collecting data on our children. And it goes into what we call a longitudinal database. And that’s one word everybody needs to know about and think about. Because a longitudinal database controlled by one person, even the government, is a very dangerous thing. This database actually creates a profile of your child. Every piece of data that’s collected on your child goes into their file. And so we, moms went at it on all different directions. And where I started to understand it was when a group of moms in Kansas city who were in the software design field gathered me around their table. I brought them information and they deciphered that information and they were very, very worried about what they were seeing in the codes that were writing this language.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay. Virginia? It’s been an experience. Definitely. And so we’re going to continue the discussion on data. And of course, we see these data centers and transmission lines to have power for these data centers. All this is connected. But the data that’s being collected on our children is of real concern. So we will continue the discussion. And we have these discussions because of our sponsors. And these data centers, this AI that we hear so much about, and these huge data centers that will take a lot of electricity, you know, need a lot of electricity and a lot of water. We talked a little bit with Trent Luce about water needed for these plans for cooling. And Mark did reach out on the text line and said that those are closed-in systems, so it’s not, at least my understanding, it’s not a continual system. new water all the time. They probably need some, but it is a reusing of the water. But I’m really concerned about these big AI data centers as you’re talking about the amount of data that’s being collected on our children, Virginia.
SPEAKER 08 :
You know, Kim, as you said before, everything’s connected. So where I started was the longitudinal database. In order to even use AI, That data has to be gathered in a common place. You don’t make an apple pie out of one apple. So it all has to be in the same pot. And so how do they, or whoever gather that data and put it in the same, uh, the same, maybe file so that they, the AI can go through all of that, that information. and give you an answer for whatever question you’re asking. So taking that in the big beautiful bill, there was a moratorium saying that states couldn’t, there’s a 10 year moratorium on AI and data centers. Is that good? Is that bad?
SPEAKER 07 :
And the moratorium was that states or local governments could not do anything to regulate them, right? Right.
SPEAKER 08 :
No regulations. And is that good? Is that bad? Is that indifferent? The big argument is because you would create each state having their own framework that And you may not be protected as an individual in one state when you go to the other on the data collection. So that’s the big discussion right now. And maybe the 10 year moratorium is going to give them some time to get something in place to protect us as individuals in our individual information. People need to realize your most precious asset is your information, the data, your private and personal pieces of information like biometrics, your blood type. This kind of thing is very dangerous to be gathered in one place using AI. It gives you a profile and that may not represent the person. That data may be incorrect and there’s no way to check. That data. So as you go through the bill, it brings you back to this word called modernization. We saw the waste, fraud, and abuse of all the infrastructure money and the, you know, the CARES money where there was no accountability. We don’t even know where all those trillions of dollars went. So they, in 22… start this modernization technology reform. So the government’s going to improve their data collection systems where they can’t even tell us where the money went in these last five years. And I thought to myself, why are we doing this now? And how is this all connected? Our children are sitting in classrooms and they are still being distributed surveys, but now it’s not the teachers, it’s the apps. And your child, by the time they’re in the 12th grade, 71 apps that distribute instructional information in our classrooms will have collected thousands and thousands of pieces of data on your child. and sold it to the third party.
SPEAKER 07 :
That was my question. So what’s the purpose of all of this collection? And I can see some very onerous things about it. But right now, is it all about the money?
SPEAKER 08 :
It is about the money. No one’s giving any forethought to what the unintended consequences are going to be. So let’s just take, for example, your child’s who goes to a private Christian school has all of this information out there in the hands of third and fourth and fifth parties that are buying and selling your child’s data every day. Perhaps they put your child in a category because of that information and that category says, He can’t do this. It limits his opportunities to be in this field. No, he’s not going to be, you know, a real follower over here. So limiting our children’s opportunities through education and through maybe false information limits their freedom and finding that American dream. So we are seeing that if you feel like you’ve been canceled, you may have. But there’s no way for us as individuals to ask what that information is.
SPEAKER 07 :
It’s very concerning. So, Virginia, a couple of things, because now I’m going back in history in my life. When I was on city council, 2012 to 2016, a couple of things were happening. One of those was Obamacare. And with Obamacare, remember one of the things that they really, really pushed was getting medical records online. And it was under the guise of, hey, this way, if something’s going on with you, your health care provider can get it over to whoever’s going to be running the test and it’ll all make it much more efficient. It would be easier. It’ll help simplify your life. I see that again. I don’t know if they were planning it or if it’s just happening. But man, that seems to me like that was one of the first steps towards streamlining data collection. And then the other thing when I was on city council was I saw these different presentations regarding education and. saying, we need to be educating our children for the 21st century workforce. And I thought to myself, we don’t want to be educating kids to be a worker. That sounds kind of like communism to me. We want to educate kids so that they have the tools of reading, writing, arithmetic, history, to be able to go after their hopes and dreams to create and innovate. And as you’re describing this, the data collection and then putting little Johnny in a box, that a box would say, well, Johnny can’t do this, and so Johnny can’t have this job. I think that’s what I’m hearing could be down the pike for us.
SPEAKER 08 :
And that is actually what we’re seeing. Training for a workforce is dictating where that child is going to be And if you’re, you know, you don’t fit the profile, you may be a line worker, which is nothing wrong with that, but you had the mind to be a scientist. So by focusing on driving our children to a certain, say, you know, occupation, we’re not building our child in the educational way to be critical thinkers and decide for themselves. I don’t think in first grade my mom or dad realized what talent any of their 10 children had. And I don’t think we have that ability to look at a first grader and say, you’re going to be this. The American dream here is to give them the tools to decide and dream. And so I, That is exactly what we’re seeing here, limiting opportunities. And it’s just not our children. It’s our young people graduating from college. It is people that have been in business that have been canceled. And so we see this is really impacting our freedom in a lot of different ways. When you have the ability to control 50 states and the amount of information that they are collecting through federal grants and they are asking for specific things. Just an example. There is a file I have of 249 pages and some of the questions that are collected are Did the student make their bed? Did the student join in play? Did the student… Things that happen at home. And so what was concerning to my moms around the data table was how are they collecting this information when some of these actual data points happen in my home? Wow. And that was very… Eye-opening to me because, you know, you don’t think anything about carrying around a phone and what that phone is collecting. You don’t think about even the cameras we see on our main streets or shopping. And all of that data is being collected and sold every day.

Okay, Virginia, we’ve got to talk about solutions on this because this looks like this whole thing is a freight train out of control. And I’m very concerned about what this means for our children and our grandchildren. And this is important. It’s complicated, but it’s important that we have these discussions. And I think there’s this question regarding AI that it is this freight train. It’s get on board. This is the future. As we look at many of the big players in this, I remember during COVID-19, that they were shutting down some voices, amplifying other voices. Some of those voices were not honest. So they’re playing in this arena with the Big Beautiful Bill. There’s some things in the Big Beautiful Bill that I really like. I also have some deep concerns about about CO2 pipelines, transmission lines and eminent domain. And actually, all of this is connected to AI centers and then the AI centers. What is an AI center collecting? It’s collecting data. And we’re talking about data on our children. So Virginia Mock is on the line. She’s with Stanford Land, Kansas. And Virginia, this came in a couple of things on the text line. And I want to hear from you. Text line is 720-605-0647. It says, good morning. Listening to Virginia, what’s popping into my head with all the data they’re collecting on children is will the government decide in the future what type of job your child will have? to have just like they do in communist China. I wonder if they will also decide what type of health care you’re allowed to have based on your blood profile. Then another listener said, I’m sure the rabbit hole is much larger than that. To me, it looks like a communist ideology. Your comments on that, Virginia Maka?
SPEAKER 08 :
Wow. Your listeners are really getting it. Let’s just look at China. And China… It’s a very large country that runs, it is ran by your government and your social score, your social credit score. So if you have enough data points on a person, you can dictate their behavior. So last night I put into an AI, which was Grok, I used Grok, and I asked it, in an average size data center, which we would find in our backyards in our cities, How many data points or how much data can be processed through that data center? That is right in my backyard. And it did a deep search and what it came back with, there were 34 references that went to, and the conclusion was the size of data in one day. It’s between a hundred million and a billion data points on individual information daily. That’s daily. That’s different levels of information, your social media, all the way down to maybe your health records that go out there online. And so reflecting on that, that is every day one medium-sized data center. So you have to imagine that when you see a camera on your main street, It is collecting data and that raster file that could take your facial recognitioning is sending it to like a longitudinal profile or whoever is collecting that on third party, fourth party. And it has to have your government’s permission to be on your main streets. So there are some things that we started doing here in Kansas and we started inserting ourselves in the conversation for our kids because we know that without our kids we have no future. And you’re correct on dictating what kind of healthcare, what kind of, what you get to receive may not be the same as someone that is more woke. And that being said, ask questions. Ask your child what apps they’re using and ask your school for that contract and who they share their data with. And that is where you begin for your child, to protect your child. Online surveys. Don’t do them. Don’t do them. That drives you to websites where they gather even more information about you And most questions are already written to direct you to a final outcome. The district policies in your schools. Ask your district office, your superintendents of your schools, what is your privacy policy to protect my child’s data? Ask for cyber security breaches. In Kansas, our legislature did a legislative audit on all the school districts in Kansas and less than 20% of them submitted what the post audit wanted. And the main thing that the post audit saw was they lack the structure at the local levels to protect your child’s data and breaches are happening every day. Our state, Our state collects data and sells it every day to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. And I had no idea that they sold that data to anyone, nor did they collect it in one spot. So as a citizen, if you pay your utility bill to the city, ask them who is processing that payment today. What kind of data are they collecting and where is it being sold? Your city should know.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, we’ve got two minutes left. And yes, we need to be asking these questions. But it seems like these data centers are going up. There’s government grants. There’s transmission lines that are trying to get electricity to it. It seems like a freight train out of control. And it seems a bit overwhelming. And I know that’s a lot to put out there with one minute left. But what would you say to that, Virginia?
SPEAKER 08 :
I would say go to your zoning boards and your zoning meetings because these data centers have to have permits. I would say check in to see who owns those data centers. You start asking questions at the local level because all of these centers are an economic development tool under that guise. And your city will use your tax money in some way or form, whether it’s an abated tax, or not, you know, there is something connected to the economic development and voice your opinion. Because a lot of times our zoning board and our city officials do not know. They have never thought about it. You know, you say economic development and everyone goes into a frenzy. But I would say start opening your eyes in your local communities because this problem is so big and so much larger than you. That once we start educating people and they understand when they hear the word modernization, when they hear the word data center, when they, uh, flock cameras, when they hear those words, start asking questions. Uh, that is where we begin, uh, where we end will be insert yourself into the political process and stand up for freedom. Uh, that is. The best defense, they count on you for your vote. And your voice matters. The smallest voice matters.
