SPEAKER 05 :
And we’ve got a big show planned for you, so fasten your seatbelts. Check out our website. That is kimmonson.com. While you’re there, make sure you’re signed up for our weekly email newsletter that goes out on Sundays. That way you’ll get first look at our upcoming guests as well as our most recent essays. You can email me at Kim at Kim Monson dot com. The text line is 720-605-0647. And thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice on an independent station searching for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through this lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And it’s not compassionate to take other people’s stuff. It’s not altruistic either. And taking their rights, their property, freedom, livelihoods, opportunities, their childhoods or their lives via force. Force can be a weapon, policy, unpredictable in excess of taxation, fear, coercion, government-induced inflation. This agenda by the World Economic Forum and the globalist elites played out through the United Nations, this Colorado state legislature, and this Colorado governor. And they use all kinds of things, land use codes and zoning regulations, forest fees, conservation easements, national monument designations, transmission lines easements, CO2 pipeline easements, and et cetera, et cetera. And we focus on the show, on the issues, and we’ll talk about the people pushing those issues. But we really work to stay out of the personality, things that happen with all of that. So we’ll stay focused on those issues. The show comes to you Monday through Friday, 6 to 8 a.m. And first hour is rebroadcast 1 to 2 in the afternoon, second hour 10 to 11 at night. And all those platforms are KLZ 560 AM, KLZ 100.7 FM, the KLZ website, the KLZ app, and you can say Alexa, play KLZ. Our word of the day is Herculean, and it is spelled H-E-R-G-U-L-E-A-N. And it could be obviously of or relating to or characteristic of Hercules. But it could be extraordinary power, extent, intensity, or difficulty. And we’ve got a Herculean challenge here in Colorado to reclaim this state that was built by rugged individualism. And we’ll talk with in the second hour, Commissioner Sean Pond, Montrose County Commissioner, just about what’s underneath the surface here in Colorado. And there’s a lot of very exciting things happening here. But we’ve got a Herculean effort in front of us to reclaim our state. Our quote of the day is from Napoleon Hill. He was born in 1883. He died in 1970. He was an American self-help author. He’s best known for his book, Think and Grow Rich, which he wrote in 1937. And it’s among the best-selling self-help books of all time. And he said this patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success. So, again, that’s Napoleon Hill. Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success. Big headline. It happened in Boulder yesterday. This is from Newsweek. And a Colorado terror suspect was given a work permit by the Biden administration. That’s per Stephen Miller. And if you did not see the news yesterday afternoon in Boulder, there was a peaceful meeting in support of – Israeli, Israeli hostages. And there was an attack. So this article goes on to say the Colorado attack suspect was living in the United States illegally and granted a work permit by former President Joe Biden’s administration, according to senior White House official Stephen Miller. Mohammed Sabri Solomon was arrested after a Boulder vigil held in support of Israeli hostages in still being held in Gaza, was attacked with incendiary devices on Sunday, injuring several people. It says a terror attack was committed in Boulder by an illegal alien. Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff for policy, wrote on X. He was granted a tourist visa by the Biden administration, and then he illegally overstayed that visa. In response, the Biden administration gave him a work permit. And Miller went on to say he added suicidal migration must be fully reversed. Sunday’s attack occurred during this peaceful weekly march to show solidarity for these hostages. And it comes after two Israeli embassy staff members were killed in a shooting in Washington, D.C., in May. And this happened in Boulder just a little after 2 p.m. yesterday. and apparently this guy threw this device in. uh into this crowd of people and boy that’s it’s just it’s so sad uh what is what has occurred there uh next thing and this is really of a lot of concern this is from kdvr it says denver is among the top 10 cities that people are moving out according to pods and pods the moving company conducts a survey compiling data on where people are moving to and from. And according to the report, trends show that many people in the U.S. are relocating to warmer states, particularly those in the southeast, except Florida, which is interesting. And it said many of the people who left the Sunshine State moved to the Midwest, Northeast, and states like Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. However, Denver was not among the cities where Denver were moving. And, again, it’s because of public policy of what is happening here in Colorado, down at the Statehouse, and then also the city and county of Denver with Mike Johnston, having Denver as a sanctuary city has really changed things significantly. Last thing, I think you guys will find this really interesting. This is from The Telegraph. And we’ve talked with Lauren Fix on a regular basis, Car Coach Reports, regarding everything automobiles. And it says the U.S. is set to kill off the technology that cuts car engines at red lights. And we’ll have Lauren Fix on a little bit later in the month, and we’ll talk with her about that. And the show comes to you because of amazing sponsors. And a new sponsor of the show is Jody Henze with Mint Financial Strategies. She’s on the line. Jody, happy Monday. Thank you, Kim. Always glad to join you on a Monday morning. And Mint Financial Strategies, we’re so pleased to have you as new sponsors of the show. And you’ve got a unique approach to helping people become economically free. And Maggie Thatcher said you can’t have political freedom unless you have economic freedom. And that’s what you specialize in.
SPEAKER 09 :
We do. And sometimes it can be a Herculean effort to create that financial independence. We believe in a strategy first approach. So we always believe that it’s best to always start with a plan. Sometimes other advisors kind of put the cart before the horse, but we always start with a plan and then we implement the plan after we start with that strategy.
SPEAKER 05 :
And in doing so, doesn’t it make it easier for people to watch headlines when you have a plan and you’re adhering to that plan? Because the headlines can be somewhat disconcerting.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, for sure, especially with, you know, what we’ve had over the last couple of months. We’ve had a lot of uncertainty, a lot of volatility. And I can tell you over, you know, my two decades of experience, you know, if you don’t have a strategy or a plan, sometimes you can be your own worst enemy. And that plan or that strategy helps create discipline in times of uncertainty. And I’m proud to say that not one of my clients made a bad decision over the last couple of months. And I attest that to the fact that they did have a plan or a strategy. And having that plan and strategy creates that discipline in times of uncertainty.
SPEAKER 05 :
So if somebody’s new to hearing about MIMP financial strategies and they say, I would like to sit down with you and go to work on a plan, what’s the best way to handle this?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, so we do that complimentary. We offer a complimentary plan for anybody who contacts us, and that just gives them the opportunity to get to know us and how we work with our clients. So they just reach out to us. They can contact us through either our text or phone line, which is 303-285-3080, or you can email me, which is Jody at MintFS.com. That’s J-O-D-Y at MintFS. M-I-N-T-F-S dot com. And like I said, we do that plan complimentary because it gives you an opportunity to get to know us and how we work with our clients best.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay. And Jodi, just a question. How did you get into this business? You’ve been doing this for over 25 years, right?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, you know, it’s kind of a funny story. My dad was kind of the starting point of that. He got me interested in middle school. He was kind of looking back in the day when you actually looked up stocks in the paper. and I was just kind of, that’s kind of interesting, and so he was kind of the start of that, and then in high school, I took an economics class and found it kind of interesting to invest, and it just kind of blew up from there. I’ve always been kind of a numbers nerd, got a degree in finance, started my career working with some of the bigger financial institutions, but really always had a desire to help people when it comes to their financial independence, because I grew up in a very humble family, saw my mom struggle and always wanted to help people reach that financial freedom. And so about 14, 15 years is when I started Mint with the intent of helping other people find that independence.
SPEAKER 05 :
And you will work with anybody, whether or not they are at the beginning of their, you know, young people, all the way up to where people have created some assets as well, correct?
SPEAKER 09 :
We do. We’re a comprehensive financial planning firm, so we work with anybody regardless of where you’re at in your financial journey. Okay. And again, what’s that best way to reach you, Jodi? Yeah, 303-285-3080. You can call or text that number, or you can email me, Jody, with a Y, at MintFS.com.
SPEAKER 05 :

And we’re searching for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And pleased to have on the line with me Sue Moore. And she heads up the Liberty Scorecard of Colorado. They do amazing work. Compliment to Colorado Union of Taxpayers, CUT. We both are working in a little different arenas watching legislation down at the Statehouse. Sue Moore, welcome.
SPEAKER 11 :
Thanks, Kim. I’m happy to be here. Thanks for having me.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, you and your team at Liberty Scorecard are doing amazing work. And you have published your report on the 2025 legislative session and the legislators. And it’s quite extensive. And so tell us just a little bit about your team and how you came up with this Liberty Scorecard.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, thanks, Kim. The scorecard actually kind of came out of an older scorecard called Principles of Liberty that was run by a couple, Rich and Lori Bratton, started back in 2011. They left the state back in 2019, moved up to the free state of Wyoming. So my organization picked up their methodology and continued the scorecard. Basically, what we do is as bills are introduced down at the legislature, it’s very similar to cut, but we look at those bills. We apply our principles of limited government, free markets, and individual rights. We assign a position of either support or opposed to a bill. And then when we compare our positions to legislators’ votes, we produce a scorecard. And ours is very real-time, so we’re updating this constantly as votes are cast. down at the legislature. But what I really want to highlight today is our A and B rated legislators. These are the people who really are fighting for us down at the legislature. They’re arguing bills from the well. They’re They’re introducing good bills. They’re fighting for good amendments. And these are the people, you know, and our standards are really quite high. So to get an A on our scorecard is really, it’s really something that we need to recognize and celebrate. But we’ve got Stephanie Luck, Ken DeGraff, Scott Bottoms, Ron Weinberg, Max Brooks.
SPEAKER 10 :
Those are our A-rated legislators. So those are the ones that we want to, you know, really celebrate and call out. You know, they’re fighting on tech. and doing great things for our state.
SPEAKER 06 :
Sue, I think that you moved away just a little bit from your microphone. Make sure that you’re right at your microphone.
SPEAKER 11 :
Oh, absolutely. I apologize. Anyway, Stephanie Luck, Ken DeGraff, Scott Bottoms, Ron Weinberg, Max Brooks, those were our A’s. Brandy Bradley, Mark Baisley, and Dan Woog were our B’s. And then we had several Cs. And I guess the good news, if there was any from this session, is that I think two years ago we only had seven As, Bs, and Cs. Last year we had 13. This year we have 19. So you can actually see some movement down there, people who want to do the right thing. Sometimes they just don’t know how or they don’t know what principles apply. They’re kind of a little bit lost in the woods down there. So what we encourage them to do is kind of, you know, team up with some of these really, really strong legislators down there and, you know, ask for advice, find out, you know, where their compass is, if you will. But, you know, so we do see some people trying a lot harder down there. And we have a lot of back and forth with some of these legislators. You know, if they’re running a bill and we’ve maybe opposed it, they might reach out, send me a text and say, hey, You know, what about this amendment? What if I applied that amendment? You know, would that make it a better bill? And so so we we appreciate that. We actually encourage that kind of conversation. And we’re getting a lot more of that back and forth. So we know that they’re paying attention to what we’re doing and that, you know, that that helps out our state. So we’re we’re we’re we’re quite encouraged, despite all the bad bills that got passed this year.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, and there really were a lot. So tell us about your methodology, because Steve Dorman, who is on our board, is also on your board. Bless his heart for the work that he’s doing on that. But tell us, because you have a meeting each week to go through the bills, which I think is pretty amazing.
SPEAKER 11 :
We do. We have about a dozen very committed volunteers from all over the state. Steve is our treasurer. Victoria Partridge is our vice chair. Kelly Hagerty down in the Four Corners area is our secretary. And then we’ve got at least half a dozen or, you know, sometimes eight other people who join this call. But as the bills are introduced, everyone gets an alert. They start reading the bills during the week. And we’ve got a giant spreadsheet. We use Bill Track 50, as you do as well, but to collect all the information. So while you’re reading bills, you can input your thoughts in the spreadsheet. And then every Sunday afternoon, we have a Zoom meeting. And, you know, we so whoever’s available joins that call. We go through the bills that were introduced that week. We apply our principles. We have a very robust discussion of each bill. And then, yeah, and then we come up with a rating and apply that. And then every Monday morning, I send an email to all the legislators, letting them know what our position is and making comments on a bill. And then, you know, the process continues. So it’s very labor intensive. But like I said, we’ve got wonderful volunteers from all over the state involved in this. And they work their tails off. So we, you know, I couldn’t be more proud of the people that work on this effort.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, it is pretty amazing. Now, can people access the scorecard on your website? Yes.
SPEAKER 11 :
Absolutely. And ours is updated almost daily. It’s libertyscorecardco.us. And if you log into that, you’ll see a profile of each legislator. You can see their entire voting record. You’ve got all their contact information. You can email them, call them. And then, like I said, their score appears on their profile. So you know how they’re doing constantly. It’s quite remarkable. It’s actually kind of funny. We have a couple new legislators this year who will cast a vote, and then they’ll look for their vote to see if it changed their score. And, you know, it usually takes us 24 hours or so to get those scores entered. But, you know, that’s that’s how curious they are about how they’re how they’re doing, you know, how they’re performing. And they’re you know, they’re worried about their score. They’re trying to get maybe from a C to a B or a D to a C. Who knows? But anyway, this this is how we know that they’re paying attention. So it’s a it’s a powerful thing. As is cut. You all do a wonderful job. And like you said, we compliment each other. We’re kind of coming at them from two different angles. But we’re letting them know that we’re paying attention and, you know, and we’re going to keep track of how they’re doing.
SPEAKER 05 :
So, Sue, the elephant in the room is that we do have some Republican legislators that did not score well. And that’s frustrating. How would you address that?
SPEAKER 11 :
Um, you know, they’ll argue that we’re being, you know, unfair, we’re being mean, we’re being this, we’re being that, you know, and I and they’ll say, well, you know, I used to get, you know, you used to principles of liberty used to give me a blah, blah. And I’d say, you know, nobody gives you a score, you earn that score. the methodology speaks for itself. If we’ve applied these principles, you’re not supporting these principles. You call yourself a fiscal conservative, but your voting record reflects otherwise. We let the chips fall. There’s nothing personal about it. It’s objective, as objective as we can possibly make it. Yeah, there are some that you would think would do better on the scorecard because of what they say on the campaign trail, but their voting record reflects otherwise. So We just do what we do. We keep our heads down and let the chips fall where they may. But, you know, it’s yeah, it is what it is. I can’t address that. I wish that I wish some of the Republicans did better, but it’s just not. The facts aren’t there.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and so what I would recommend is that people that live in these districts sit down with their legislators and talk about this and reach out to them so that we can move this to liberty. We’re going to have on as our featured guest in hour number two Montrose Commissioner Sean Pond. And he’d written a really important piece about just under the surface how Colorado is changing. And and I think a lot of it is is because government has just gotten way out of control. And we need to make sure that we are moving us back to to liberty. And and I think that what you’re doing with Liberty Scorecard is. is so important so that we know where we are and encourage our legislators to move us towards liberty so that’s so important um your final thought and again sue moore and your team uh amazing work at liberty scorecard that website is liberty scorecardco.us and what’s your final thoughts you’d like to leave with our listeners
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, I mean, there were some high points. There were some good bills passed this year. So we need to focus on that. We need to encourage. There are some good bills that didn’t get through last year that are going to come back. Ken DeGraff is going to sponsor a criminal asset reform bill that didn’t get passed. But it’s a good bill, and it should be a bipartisan issue. But, you know, there are some bright spots. But I think the bottom line is, you know, look at the scorecard. Look at cut scorecard. Find the people who are really doing the yeoman’s duty down there and support them. Send them money. Send them notes of encouragement because it’s lonely down there for these liberty warriors, so we do need to support them. So check out our scorecard, check out CUT, and support the people who are really fighting for us down at the Capitol.
SPEAKER 05 :
I think that’s really good advice. And, again, Sue Moore, to you and your team at Liberty Scorecard, let’s see, co.us, amazing work. And thank you for the report that you put together. And just keep it up. You guys are doing a great job. All right. Thanks, Kim. And it is so important that we shed light on what is going on down at the Statehouse. And, again, Liberty Scorecard is doing a great job. And my fellow Cup Board members, I want to say thank you to them. That’s Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Ramey Johnson, Mary Jansen. Dave Evans, Coriona Zorg, Paula Beard, and Ray Beard. Thank you to the team over at CUT as well. And again, Liberty Scorecard and CUT really complement each other. These are important discussions. They come to you because of our sponsors. And for everything residential real estate, you want to make sure that you have Karen Levine on your side of the table.

And welcome back to The Kim Monson Show. Be sure and check out our website. That is KimMonson, M-O-N-S-O-N.com. Sign up for our weekly email newsletter. You can email me at Kim at KimMonson.com as well. And Father’s Day is right around the corner. And a beautiful gift would be to buy a brick that will be on one of the pathways of service out at the USMC Memorial. And you want to get that done now so that you will receive the certificate in time for Father’s Day. And so get more information. Go to USMCMemorialFoundation.org. That is USMCMemorialFoundation.org. And we were just talking with Sue Moore with Liberty Scorecard about our Colorado legislators. And so pleased to have on the line with me Representative Brandi Bradley. She is my representative. And she also scored… Good morning, Kim. Thanks for having me. This is probably the worst out of all three. Absolutely. Okay. And you had done a video regarding this House Bill 1312, which is the radical transgender bill that there are those that have said that it was changed a bit. But the video that you had out on X was, I think, very informative. So tell us about 1312, what it ultimately ended up doing.
SPEAKER 07 :
So 1312 ended up putting more into the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act. It ended up putting chosen name into gender expression. And I think the liberal media… wanted to try to put it out there that this is not a bad bill. This is just protecting the trans queer community. But what it is doing is it’s a violation of the private school sector. It is going to go against the small business community, and it’s going to go against parental rights. And, you know, there were guardrails. in the first place in the original 1312 bill where if you did it a certain amount of times, then there would be fines. And now there’s no guardrails, right? It’s just if you do it, your kids are going to be taken. Businesses will be fined. You see what’s happening to Adirahangi, this beautiful camp that’s been around since I think the 1940s in Bailey, Colorado. They’re fighting for their survival. Any private schools that open their campuses up to summer camps, any public schools, opportunities that they offer, Bible schools that come in, things like that, they’re going to be subject to this new bill. And it’s worse than it was before.
SPEAKER 05 :
So what is occurring with these camps is several things. First of all, there can be boys and girls spaces, correct? Correct. Okay. And then secondly, regarding private schools, regarding dress codes, I know many people like private schools with private school uniforms, and this would allow boys or girls to dress in the opposite gender’s clothes as well, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
Correct. They will be in gender-neutral clothing. I mean, somebody said this is going to be North Korea all over again, where everyone looks the same. And so… the charter schools have lost their local control.
SPEAKER 05 :
And what can we do about this, Brandy Bradley? I was thinking a lot about it this weekend in preparation for this conversation with you. And it seems that this beautiful Colorado that I loved is becoming something that I don’t even recognize. So what can we do about this?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, you support people like Aaron Lee with Protect Kids Colorado. and Do No Harm, who have filed a lawsuit against this egregious bill. You support CTAN, Lori Gimmelstein, and you support Jennifer Say with XXXY Athletics. They’ve all filed lawsuits, and also the school in Bailey, Adirahaji. A lot of my friends’ kids go to summer camp there. You have to support these organizations that are fighting for all the people in Colorado and have filed lawsuits to go against this egregious bill. We have to support these people that are stepping up for the people of Colorado.
SPEAKER 05 :
And yes, Aaron Lee and Laurie Gimmelstein have just been doing amazing work. And Jennifer, I have not met her yet, and I think that needs to happen for sure.
SPEAKER 07 :
I can make that happen. She worked for Levi’s for a really long time. She was a gymnast. She opened the door to shed light on what was happening at the gymnastics level and all the sexual assault to these girls. And then COVID happened, and that really opened her eyes to what was happening to kids being forced to stay at home. And now this, she’s really fighting hard to protect women in athletics, and she is so amazing. We couldn’t be more opposite, but it just shows you how these progressive Democrats are aligning people of all backgrounds.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, and her journey to get to this point was really through COVID, and then she’s created this business that’s focused on really, I think, protecting women in women’s sports, yes?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes, and she was just doing it. Erin Lee and Lori and Jennifer say we’re all in Oregon because in Oregon, you see what’s happening with this transgender athlete that is trying to take over I believe it was track and field, and then you saw it in California. I mean, it’s funny, Kim, when people come on my page and say, this isn’t happening. It’s happening everywhere. Boys are trying to take over curl sports. The feminists have been fighting for since the 1960s, right? And so you’re forcing feminists to work with conservatives, and we’re all fighting for the same thing. And it’s a beautiful thing, actually.
SPEAKER 05 :
so brandy bradley 1312 really has gotten a lot of publicity but there was a bunch of other very bad stuff down at the state house as well what what should people be aware of that’s under the radar with over 700 bills and resolutions first of all there is no way that legislators can be reading all of these bills to know what is in them, and then to really think about what the far-reaching consequences are of each bill. But there are things that people are not aware of. And I was thinking it’s almost overwhelming, the amount of legislation that is just being pushed out. It’s really a bill mill down there.
SPEAKER 07 :
It’s a bill mill, and government is the Democrats’ god, and people need to understand that. When the Democrats prime sponsor bills, you ask them a question, a mundane question, they have no answer for it. They are being puppeted to run bills that they have no answers for. They don’t even know what’s behind the bills. And I’ll tell you, as bad as our governor is, I think he’s vetoed 11 bills so far. Thankfully, he has taken some of the most egregious bills and vetoed them. I can’t imagine if Michael Bennett is our governor and what he’s going to pop through. But that aside, 1309, horrific bill, gender mutilation for children. I tried to run an amendment to take children under the age of 18 out of this bill. This is taxpayer-funded elective procedures for men to feel like women. You’re talking boob jobs, vaginoplasty, laser hair removal that taxpayers are now going to pay for because private insurers have to pay for these procedures for the trans community, even though women undergoing horrific breast cancer and other diseases that have changed their bodies have to pay out of pocket for these things. Men to become women face remodeling, bone restructuring. We are now going to pay for that. And children under the age of 18 are not exempt. They will be included into this category. That to me is one of the most egregious bills that I think the people of Colorado don’t even know about.
SPEAKER 05 :
And that’s one of the things we have got. One of the ways to stop all this is to at least stop the money. But that’s the other thing that we’ve seen is a number of different bills regarding forcing insurance companies to cover this kind of surgeries and pharmaceuticals. And… So, Brandy Bradley, how is it? You can’t call in sick, really, as a legislator in 120 days. And there were days that you were down there very, very late. How do you and all those others that really have stood up for liberty, how did you do it? Because you really can’t call in sick, can you?
SPEAKER 07 :
No, you can’t call and say, you know, I think you think about the people that you support. It’s not a one-person gig, right? You’re representing, in my case, almost 100,000 people. And so, you know, you’re their voice. I take it very, it’s a very important job to me. And so it doesn’t matter how hard it is. You’re the voice to parents that are losing their children. You’re the voice to small businesses that were the sixth most regulated state. You’re the voice to people that are literally losing their Second Amendment rights, their First Amendment rights. And, you know, that is such an important job for me, Kim. I guess that’s the only thing, a strong faith base. I mean, I got to have lots of very sometimes screaming matches, sometimes a little bit more low key. But, you know, why have you put me in a state that that takes all these freedoms for granted? But, you know, you say it all the time. We’re at the tip of the spear. And I do believe that. I think that There are so many people when 700 people sign up to testify for a bill and you look around and these dads are holding hands with their kids and they are here to say, you are not going to take my children. It’s amazing to me. It’s just beautiful.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and how do you think that we got to this point in Colorado? Because as I’ve talked with people, they can’t believe some of the stuff that’s happened down at the statehouse. How did we get to this point? Is it because we weren’t paying attention or what happened?
SPEAKER 07 :
I mean, I wasn’t. I will be, I’ll use me as an example. I was working hard. I graduated from college and raising my children and paying my taxes and trying to create an environment for my children and filling in the bubble and thinking that that was enough. And while I was doing that, Democrats were figuring out the Rocky Mountain heist, right? Figuring out a way to take over our beautiful red state and make it blue. And where have the liberal policies gotten us? We’re the second least safe state, fourth highest in rape, 10th highest in trafficking in six most regulated. And, and what, what is all the money being spent? Because people say that Tabor, I’m sorry, Democrats say that the taxpayer bill of rights limits their ability to spend. I mean, we’re 43rd highest in road on safeness. I mean, you know, where have these liberal policies gotten us? Nowhere. And so people of Colorado have got to want to take their state back and they’ve got to get involved. And, you know, I can say it, Scream it from the rooftop. So we’ve got to get better candidates to run grassroots conservatives that don’t have an agenda that just want to fight for the people of Colorado. And people have got to wake up. They’ve got to get off their couches.
SPEAKER 05 :
Now, that is for sure. So we’re going to continue the discussion with Representative Bradley, and she did amazing work down at the Statehouse. She is my legislator, which I’m very, very lucky that that is the case. And I did want to mention, though, before we go to break, the Center for American Values, which is located in Pueblo. And it’s on the beautiful Riverwalk. They’re nonpolitical. They’re nonpartisan. They just focus on these core principles of honor, integrity and patriotism. And if we focus on high ideals instead of the carnal stuff that this Colorado state legislature has been focused on, we will be able to reclaim our identity. our beautiful state. And so more information regarding the Center for American Values, go to AmericanValueCenter.org. That’s AmericanValueCenter.org. And for anything mortgages, you want to reach out to Lorne Levy. He can help you in 49 of the 50 states, just not New York.

We’re an independent voice and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. On the line with me is Representative Brandy Bradley. And, Randy, you have done amazing work down at the Statehouse. And I had Sue Moore on earlier today with Liberty Scorecard. And there are – we have a bit of a schism, I would say, regarding Republican legislators today. There are some that have reached so far across the aisle that they’re actually, I think, standing on the other side of the aisle and not standing for liberty, not standing for protecting Tabor property rights. And how would you address that, Brandi Bradley?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I just addressed it yesterday on my X account when the Republican co-primed a bill and it’s taken $50 million from our taxpayer bill of rights. You know, when you… work with Democrats and you allow our governor to say, this is the best bipartisan session we’ve ever had. And your constituents, second amendment rights are being stripped and first amendment rights are being stripped and parents are losing custody of their kids. That’s no caucus that I would like to be a part of Kim, to be quite honest with you. And that’s why I think that we need grassroots conservatives to step up to the plate and run against these people.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and I know that there is a strategy. And Kent Theory, who has been, you know, really wealthy guys, been messing around with our elections through either ballot initiatives or different pieces of legislation. And I know that there is a strategy that I think he and Anschutz are pushing, and that is to stay away from social issues, that they’re recommending that Republicans stay away from social issues, that people only care about crime and the economy. And so that’s where they’re recommending some of these legislators focus. And meanwhile, I think we’re losing our state while that’s occurring. Your thoughts?
SPEAKER 07 :
I don’t think that that’s the right agenda. 87% of Americans don’t stand for illegal immigrants being in our state. I think it’s up to 70% of Democrats do not agree with transgendering children and gender mutilation. And they don’t agree with boys playing in girls’ sports or being in their safe spaces. So you either take a stand and you lead or you abide by fear tactics. And I’m just not one of those. And if that gets me out of office, then so be it. I’m going to stand for his kingdom. And my worldview is that. And I think that more people should do it. I’m not going to reach across the aisle and violate Tabor or Second Amendment like I saw happen this session. And I think that those legislators’ terms, they will come to an end. I think that there are too many spotlights. There are too many people watching now. This isn’t the legislative session from five years ago. At midnight one day, there were still, I think, over 800 people watching the General Assembly, and they’re calling people out. And I think they’re tired of their representatives just pushing a button just to push a button.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and what has happened, though, this beautiful state, in a way we’ve become almost, I think, a laughingstock of America. People will say, you’re from Colorado. What is going on out there? And so we’ve got to come together and stand up for, we’ve got to stand up for our children. And this idea that we’ll just pretend that this stuff isn’t happening down at the state house is not, it is not going to work. We’ve got to take a stand on this. And I really do recommend that people check out Liberty Scorecard. And then we will be working on our ratings report for cut here tomorrow. uh over the next month or so as well uh so um looking into the next light well next thing how is it 700 pieces of legislation and there is no way that these legislators that are carrying a lot of these bills even know what’s in them so is uh is the colorado legislature really being controlled by lobbyists with specific agendas or what would you say to that randy bradley
SPEAKER 07 :
I think some of them are. I mean, you had State Rep Regina English, a Democrat, go to the well and say the lobby corps is not going to control me. I said it to the pharmaceutical companies who are running horrible bills that have given both sides of the aisle quite a bit of money. I mean, you have – I would tell the people of Colorado, look at your representatives’ tracer reports. When they’re throwing in hundreds of thousands of dollars into a statehouse race, I would say you’re bought and paid for. I’ve raised about $10,000, and that’s mostly, I would say, from constituents. I don’t take lobby money. Look at my tracer accounts. Look up where your representatives are taking their money from, and then you’ll understand who they’re fighting so hard for. The social media bill, the anti-gun lobby was running that bill. Why are we as Republicans on a bill that the anti-gun lobby is behind? I would love the answer for that.
SPEAKER 05 :
And following the money is really probably the key thing. How can people help you? Now, we’ve got this next legislative session, and then hopefully you’re going to run for office again. So what do you see for this next legislative session coming down the pike? Anything yet?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I think we’re going to go into special session. I’ve heard mumblings to the grapevine, but I wanted to offer two pieces of advice. One, Republicans were able to kill a lot of really bad legislation. I think people say, you just go up there and talk and filibuster. No, we were able to pass. One was the health insurance affordability enterprise. I carried that bill in my briefcase since February 26th, waiting, waiting to pounce on this bill. It was going to raise people’s premiums for a family of four by $880 a year. We were able to kill that bill just knowing that we were going to attack that bill. There were several bills that we were able to just let it PI on the calendar. There were other bills that they would just take amendments because they just didn’t want to hear us talk. So I just want to tell the people of Colorado who think that we just go up to the well and just talk and talk and talk. We are actively fighting hard and making bad bills better. And that is good for the state of Colorado. And we’re also actively killing bills that they don’t hear about. So I just wanted to offer that. And then I wanted to offer that one person reached out to me last week and about some horrific things happening at the Colorado Department of Public Health. And some of these employees are going to be fired by what this one person has found that was happening through conferences. This grant program has been put on hold. So don’t underestimate the power that one person has to change what is happening in the state of Colorado. it’s been amazing what this one person has sent me and what is happening at CDPHE and what this person has found. So I would just offer your listeners, Kim, the muster seeds that are being planted and what your viewers and listeners are doing for the state of Colorado helps me immensely. So just don’t underestimate that power.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, that’s good and very positive. And then special session, when do you think that’s going to occur and what’s it going to be about? I mean, who knows?
SPEAKER 07 :
We have no money. I mean, I don’t know how Democrats keep finding the money tree that I can’t seem to find in the state of Colorado. I mean, passenger rail system costing billions of dollars that no one’s going to ride. We had a couple of bills that died. A Shannon Bird bill that was a AI bill that they couldn’t believe the Democrats killed to tone actually killed it. I think that they were going to pull us back into session for that. I know the governor just vetoed a surprise ambulance bill that No one’s happy about. So I don’t know what they’re calling this back into session, but I heard it’s going to be sometime in October.
SPEAKER 05 :
Gosh. Well, and then, gosh, in October, January is right around the corner for the next session. So it’s like, why do that? It doesn’t make sense to me. So it’s primarily around money. And, my gosh, the budget was, what, $44 billion or something like that?
SPEAKER 07 :
The budget – we’re a billion dollars in the hole, but your viewers also need to know – or your listeners, excuse me. The Democrats are creating enterprises, which mean that if they create a tax system that’s under $100 million, they do not have to go to the voters to get – the approval for. And so that’s what we’re seeing these Democrats do. They are creating new enterprises. I can’t even remember how many enterprises they created this session, but that means about a hundred million or just under a hundred million dollars of taxes generated that the voters do not have to approve on or to approve because it’s under a hundred million dollars. So just, they need to note that as well. Whenever they hear an enterprise, that means a new fee system that’s being created.
SPEAKER 05 :
And fees or taxes, same difference. It’s money out of people’s pockets. And these enterprise zones, this is a way to get around TABOR so that this money is not used for the TABOR caps. And, of course, if the state government overcollects our revenue, takes more money from us than this generous formula of inflation plus population growth, then we’re supposed to get our money back. And they do not want to do that. And again, one other thing, this Democrat Party is not the Democrat Party of your grandpa and grandma. This is a Democrat Party that is radical, activist, and they’re in control here in Colorado. Representative Brandi Bradley, we’ve got 30 seconds left. Thank you for what you’re doing. Your final thought.
SPEAKER 07 :
I think Colorado is worth saving. I’m so willing to fight for it. I hope that Some listeners, I’ve planted some mustard seeds. Please reach out to me. Follow me on Bradley for CO or any of the social medias. Step up to the plate. Our state is worth fighting for, for our kids, your grandkids. Let’s reclaim Colorado, as Scott Bottoms would say.
SPEAKER 05 :
Absolutely. So thank you so much, Brandi Bradley. We’ll talk again very soon. Thanks, Kim. God bless you. God bless you, too. And the quote for the end of the show is from Napoleon Hill. He said, do not wait. The time will never be just right. Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you have. And today, be grateful. Read great books. Think good thoughts. Listen to beautiful music. Communicate and listen well. Live honestly and authentically. Strive for high ideals. And like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. Happy Monday, Producer Joe.
SPEAKER 17 :
Happy Monday, Kim.
SPEAKER 05 :
And thank you to Representative Brandi Bradley for her important work down at the Statehouse and for shedding light on what’s going on down there. She really has done a great job. And I did want to mention these from Liberty Scorecard, these legislators that scored A’s and B’s. Stephanie Luck, A, Kindergraf, an A, Scott Bottoms, an A, Ron Weinberg, an A, and Max Brooks, an A, Brandy Bradley, a B, Mark Baisley, a B, and Dan Woog. And so thank you to those legislators for their standing in the gap for us down at the Statehouse. And it’s been a Herculean effort to do so, and that just happens to be our word of the day. And Herculean is H-E-R-C-U-L-E-A-N. And obviously relating or characteristic of Hercules, but number two of extraordinary power, extent, intensity or difficulty. And so your challenge is to use the word Herculean in a sentence today. Our quote of the day is from Napoleon Hill. And he was born in 1883, died in 1970. And he was a self-help author. And he’s best known for his book, Think and Grow Rich. And he said that patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success. And again, patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success. And headlines, I think probably the top headline happened here in Colorado yesterday. And there was an attack in Boulder. And the attacker, so there was a group that has a peaceful vigil each week in Boulder in honor of the, Well, I guess maybe not in honor, but of their concern for hostages that are still being held in Gaza. And so this Colorado attack suspect, this is from Newsweek, was living in the United States illegally and granted a work permit by former President Joe Biden’s administration, according to senior White House officials. So the guy’s here illegally illegally. And then the Biden administration gives him a work permit. And anyway, he threw an incendiary device into the center of this vigil, and a number of people were injured. And that happened right here in Boulder yesterday at about 2 o’clock in the afternoon. And so Colorado is in the news on a pretty regular basis, but not for good stuff right now. So we’ve got to get that turned around. And thank you to those that are working on making that happen. And these are such important discussions. And we have all these discussions because we have amazing people that sponsor our show. And I am talking with Roger Mangan with the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Team. He’s been in business for 48 years, taking care of his clients and his family and giving back to the community. And just really pleased to have Roger Mangan as a sponsor of the show. Roger, welcome. Well, thank you very much, Kim. It’s nice to be talking to you. Well, yes, it is. And I wanted to ask you a question. We’ve got complex lives, lots of stuff, homes and cars and all kinds of things. And there could be risk with that. So what’s your thoughts about insurance and all these things that we have in our complex lives?
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s a good question. Today, I’d like to talk to you about the concept of insurance, namely the transfer of risk. Insurance is a transfer of risk from you to some entity that has the power to replace that risk if something should happen, whether it’s your life, your car, your home, your electronic equipment. So We have all this insurance about us and around us. So we buy health insurance. We want to protect those assets and your assets. We, me, I want to protect your assets in a well-balanced way. That’s important.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, it is. And I’m an entrepreneur, and so I do take risk. I’m not risk averse. However, I try to be thoughtful on my risk. So transferring of risk would be a component of that, yes?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, absolutely. You know, you hit upon it, Kim. We live in a very advanced culture in society. It’s very complex. I don’t think we realize it. But when you step back 100 years or into another culture in this modern day and age, you can see how complex our lifestyles are. We have many ways to benefit living in these good times. We have security. We have predictability, opportunities, amazing medical advancements, artificial intelligence, so much going on to help us. But all of this comes with a price, sometimes a high price. We need to make good choices and wise decisions in your show, and hopefully me on the show helps people look at that through a different lens.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and knowledge certainly is power on all this. So let’s say that people are listening to this, and they want to try to assess their risk, their transfer of risk. What should they do?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, they could probably call our office, and we would be awesome in helping them with that. You know, I was visiting a friend in Florida recently, a State Farm person, and I hadn’t met him in years, and I walked into his office, and I’m saying this because I didn’t feel the energy that I thought should exist in an office of that caliber. And I think when I walk into my office, and I’m not bragging about my team, but they are supercharged. They’re really there to help people. So if you call our office and say, you know, you’d like a human life value risk assessment, they would do that for you. And they would be able to show you what you should consider in trying to protect the most important element in your asset class. And that is you, your life, your ability to earn income.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and I wanted to mention that your office is really impressive, and you’re carrying all my home and auto at this particular point in time, and I need to sit down and go through this risk assessment as well. But I was talking about you the other day on the show, and I’m trying to get through here on my text messages, and it said – I’ll paraphrase because I’m not finding it. There’s a lot of messages here – says, I have had State Farm insurance for many, many years, and they’ve taken great care of me. And I think that that’s just so awesome. Here we go. I’ve had State Farm since 1970, approximately. They’ve always come through, and I’ve been pleased with them. I thought you’d like to hear that, Roger Mangan.
SPEAKER 15 :
Absolutely. You know, I’m very proud of State Farm in so many ways. And all of us here, all of us in the audience may work for great companies and we’re proud of them. And we also can condemn them for things that they might do. But that condemnation is kept in the family because you don’t know really other insurance companies. I don’t think you can hold a candle to State Farm. Those companies that do, they have great agents. The key to an insurance company’s success is the agent and how much interest and how much care he and his team or she and his team provide for you. So I think if you’re looking around for insurance, I would probably go to two or three different offices. I wouldn’t do it online. I just can’t imagine buying anything that important online and being on hold for 20 minutes to file a claim or if I’m on hold, for two minutes, but it takes me 20 minutes to get through the claims process, and I don’t know who I talk to next time. It’s probably not a comfortable feeling.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and what’s the best way for people to reach you and your team, Roger Mangan?
SPEAKER 15 :
You can call us at 303-795-8855. We serve as Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, Littleton, Englewood, Pretty much all over the state, to be honest with you, but our territory of major support Penetration is south Denver, south of Hamden usually.

Okay. And again, like a good neighbor, the Roger Mangan team is there.
SPEAKER 01 :

If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And thank you to the Harris family for their gold sponsorship of the show. We really do appreciate them. On the line with me is Montrose County Commissioner Sean Pond. Sean, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 16 :
Good morning, Kim.
SPEAKER 05 :
And I read this piece, a guest commentary in Rocky Mountain Voice, and I had not realized that you were a Montrose County Commissioner, which I was very pleased to see that. So what happened? How did that come about?
SPEAKER 16 :
I’ve been told it was a strange combination of divine intervention and tragedy. A friend of mine had ran for Montrose County Commissioner District 3. His name was Rick Dunlop. He was a longtime sheriff here in Montrose County, Colorado. And he won and was sworn in in January. And about three weeks into his public service, he unfortunately had a heart attack and passed away. And that left a vacancy on the Montrose Board of County Commissioners that the Republican Party and the vacancy committee had about 10 days factually to find and appoint a replacement. Or the governor, Jared Polis, was able to do so. And obviously that wasn’t a viable option for the folks here in western Colorado. They convened. Anybody that was eligible to fulfill that seat was allowed to throw their name in the hat. It basically meant you had to be a registered Republican, have no disqualified events in your life, and live in District 3. And I received a few hundred phone calls asking me to throw my name in the hat and I reluctantly, I guess, did so, not really being in politics or have never even ran for dog catcher. So I did throw my name in that and didn’t really expect to find myself in this position, to be honest with you, kind of the underdog that lives on the other side of the mountain, a small town of 400 people. But here I am. I was sworn in on February 15th, took my oath of office for the second time in my life, and here I am. It’s been almost four months.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and Sean Pond, I met you through Josh Lowenstein and the important work that he’s doing regarding our public lands. And so last time we had a conversation, you were concerned this was before the election and the Biden administration was using national monument designations for land grabs. And so has that changed under the Trump administration?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, it’s actually kind of the same path that put me where I am today. So we obviously stood up, and Josh and a bunch of folks across western Colorado and outside the state as well, to oppose this unneeded federal land designation, federal overreach. And they titled it the proposed Dolores National Monument. And we were successful in keeping that designation at bay with the successful people. election of Donald Trump and this administration. But to be truthful, two days after he was sworn in, we faced a new challenge. We had a working group convening, come together, that proposed a Dolores National Conservation Area, which was the same area, just 68,000 acres versus 500,000 acres. And so we didn’t even have time to celebrate avoiding one disaster. And we were right back at the table trying to fight for another um, uh, unneeded federal designation. So that’s kind of how I ended up in this. We were fighting this national conservation area and they, the working group was comprised of a Montrose County commissioner and a Mesa County commissioner. And this, uh, working group they called themselves. I thought that if I could get myself into a position where I had a little more power and a little more voice, I could speak for the people of Montrose and Mesa County, and that’s what I did. We avoided a couple of them. We’ve been successful, but don’t kid yourself for a minute that they’re not still coming after us every day.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay. And I was hoping that that would not be the case with the Trump administration. And so you’ve gotten yourself into a position regarding being a county commissioner. And county commissioners have a lot of power because they basically run the county. And you’ve written this piece that it stopped me in my tracks because I served on city council 2012 to 2016. And you’ve really encapsulated what I was feeling. You said something’s happening in Colorado. You can feel it, not on the surface, but beneath it, beneath the silence, beneath the carefully packaged language of equity, sustainability, and progress. We are being conditioned slowly, quietly, and deliberately. Yes. They’re very chilling words, Sean Pond.
SPEAKER 16 :
They are, and they’re chilling because they’re true. And I don’t think that most people, most of the population is going about life, they’re just trying to raise kids or pay taxes or just go to work every day. And like most individuals, I myself have been uninvolved politically for most of my life. And when you see what’s really happening and you get immersed into it, And now I really have kind of a front row seat to what’s happening. And you start to put together the pieces of what’s happening, the progressive takeover of Colorado, and you look at how the tyranny of the cities is now affecting rural western Coloradoans, and not even western, but eastern plains, but even the people in the inner cities that don’t think like them. The fact of the matter is we’re being ruled right now. The one-party rule in Colorado is, the Democratic Party, the majority in the House and the Senate, you can prove it to yourself by simply looking at the unconstitutional legislation that came out of this session this year. Colorado’s got a real fight on its hands, and I’m just trying to wake people up and make them understand that it’s not doomsday, it’s not rumor. They’re coming. I see it every day. I face it every day, and I’m trying to make sure that people understand that there’s a real battle for constitutional liberty in Colorado.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and what I learned when I was on city council is that there are good people that get into elected office, and at some point in time, they forget that they’re supposed to be representatives of the people, and they start to think that they work for the entity, so that their job is to push the city’s agenda instead of the people’s agenda. or the county’s agenda instead of the people’s agenda. And so what’s happened is we’ve had Republicans that in a way have lost their way because they think that they’re representing the entity instead of the people.
SPEAKER 16 :
You couldn’t be more spot on. I think the strangest thing for the last four months for me was I don’t call it my brainwashing session. When you get in here, the system, they try to conform you. They try to tell you to be quiet, stay in your lane, that you’re here to serve all of the people in this district. And in some sense, that’s true. But I think a lot of a lot of politicians or people enter into politics and They get overwhelmed by that. I mean, there’s scare tactics and there’s threats and there’s people, you know, they tell you that you’re going to get sued. And I think at the end of the day, for me personally, to remember who I am, to remember that the Constitution is the oath I took. I didn’t take an oath to anything other than to uphold the Constitution. of the United States of America and of Colorado. And that Constitution is very clearly defined of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And anything outside of that is an agenda or a political ideology. And I’m trying to stay as true as I can to that oath. And it means something to me, and I want the people out there to know that if you have a politician in your area, remind them of that, because that’s how we start to make a difference. That’s how we start to come back here in Colorado to maintain our identity.
SPEAKER 05 :
But what happens, Sean, is that municipalities, counties, are basically being controlled by staff, by the bureaucrats. And you mentioned indoctrination. One of the first things that happens when someone is elected into office is there is a kind of a training session, if you will, And you’ll have staff that comes in from all the different departments explaining what they do and why they need money. And that’s kind of the beginning of where people elected forget that that they are there to represent the people instead of working to make sure that all these departments have the funds to do whatever these departments say they’re going to do.
SPEAKER 16 :
Again, it’s refreshing to talk to somebody who’s seen it, Kim, so I appreciate it. But it’s the true story. And I’ll be honest, the first two or three months, it was a challenging time for me personally because I was trying to figure out how all this works. I’m not a politician. I’m not a bureaucrat. I’m just an average guy that found myself in these shoes. And I had to step back and remind myself of exactly why I’m here, and that is to represent the people. And individual freedoms matter. It’s not about political ideology. It’s not about – I hate the word democracy because democracy is defined as mob rule. I think people have to step back and understand and really look at what matters. And the Constitution is what matters, right? That’s the blueprint of who we are as a nation. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about federal level, state level, or county or small town municipalities. And it’s lost some of that definition over the last few years, in my opinion, here in Colorado. And I think that was the purpose of that article, was to try to wake people up to say, hey, this isn’t a my side, your side. This is a true fight for the soul of Colorado, and it’s important.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, it is very important. And I was thinking about this again. We had Representative Bradley on in the first hour and then the conversation with you and people, families. It takes a lot just to try to keep it together right now, to take care of kids, go to work, create a business, all of these things. And while we are focused on those things, there are those that are in control of particularly the Democrat Party here in Colorado. And this is not the Democrat Party of JFK or Tip O’Neill. This has been taken over by radical activists. But Republicans don’t always stand for what needs to happen, and that is standing for the Constitution. They can get co-opted into reaching across the aisle, and I can tell you, even just looking at Liberty’s scorecard, there are some that have reached so far across the aisle that they’re standing on the other side. And are you encouraged, Sean Pond, that we’re going to get this thing turned around?
SPEAKER 16 :
I am. And I am because I talk to people every day and I look them in the eye. We’re talking about left and right, and I’m going to change that just a little bit. I’m going to call out another group of people that I call the moderate middle, the compromisers and the negotiators. And I think that’s all part of the process. People have been conditioned and told that we have to get along, that both opinions matter. The problem with that is you have one side, the right, who is simply trying to protect what we have, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And the other side, unfortunately, is always forcing change, always wanting to change the most perfect document ever written, in my opinion. And the problem I see is the unaffiliated voter, the moderate, the fence-rider, the people that stand in the middle that are always willing to compromise with liberty. And that is not the point of the constitutional freedom of liberty or individual freedoms at all. So those people, my point, My message to you is it’s time for you to pick a side because when you really look at what we’re fighting here in Colorado and some other states around the country as well is I believe people will choose liberty and freedom each and every time it’s on the line. And it really is. That is the line in the sand right now.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, it is, and we’re going to continue the discussion with Montrose Commissioner Sean Pond. These are such important discussions, and one of the things, another thing that’s been under attack is our right to keep and bear firearms to protect ourselves and our families against bad actors. That’s why I’m so pleased to have the Second Syndicate as a sponsor of the show.
SPEAKER 17 :
The Second Amendment was established to ensure that all individuals have the right to resist oppression, stand firm against government overreach, and protect our ability to defend ourselves, our families, and our freedoms. Today, that right is under relentless attack in Colorado. I’m talking with Montrose Commissioner Sean Pond. And this is really how it is supposed to be, is everyday people stepping forward to represent their neighbors in a representative form of government. And this piece at Rocky Mountain Voice is the Constitution isn’t a suggestion. It’s a line in the sand. And Commissioner Pond, one of our listeners, Susan, said exactly. You cannot compromise on your rights. You are always negotiating backwards, nibble by nibble. And that is really what’s happened in Colorado. I think people are waking up. And we’ve got to reclaim our Constitution, both U.S. Constitution and Colorado Constitution, Sean Pond.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, she’s absolutely right. I think when people understand, like, we’re talking about a freedom rally coming up. It was part of the Rocky Mountain Voice article. And the entire purpose of that, I think the theme is going to be is we want our Constitution back. And we’re trying to spread the word about that, and thank you for helping us do that today. And it’s not something that I’m putting on. I want to be clear of that. It’s nothing to do with the county. There is a citizens group here in Montrose County that is putting this together. It’ll be sometime next year in June, somewhere around the end of the primaries, intentionally trying to get some of these people that are running for office to be here in Montrose and shine a light on the progressive takeover of Colorado to try to change the tide, the revolution, if you would. So I’m proud to help spread the word on that. I don’t know exactly how it will turn out. I’ve been told they’re expecting a huge turnout with some pretty well-noticed speakers at that. So I would like people to put that on their calendar, reach out and watch that. It’s going to be a worthwhile event, and I’m happy to be a part of it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, and that should be sometime around Independence Day in 2026, which is right around the corner. Sean Pond, one of the things that really got you involved in all of this was this national designation for the Dolores Canyon, which was a takings of thousands of acres and basically making it – ultimately it would be – having that land would be off-limits to humans. Ultimately, it was the goal on that, yes?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes and no. So a national monument designation doesn’t necessarily make it off-limits to humans. That would be a wilderness designation. But have no doubt that it definitely would have shut down 90% of the roads, human-access areas. Grading allocations, critical mineral extraction, oil and glass exploration. Yeah, it was definitely a federal designation aimed by the environmental groups to take 500,000 acres of land. And they hadn’t stopped, just so you know, Kim. So we had that when we talked about the National Conservation Area that I swore in on February 15th. As a Montrose County Commissioner, on February 18th, my first BOCC meeting, I presented a resolution to the board that was passed, and we opposed the National Conservation Area and stopped that one for now. But I’m going to be very honest, right? It hasn’t stopped any. So in the last three weeks, we’ve had Senator Hickenlooper, Senator Bennett. And, unfortunately, Congressman Jeff Hurd that have signed a piece of legislation for 730,000 acres called the GORP, Gunnison Outdoor Resource Protection Program, in Gunnison, Sewatch, Delta, and Hinsdale counties. And it’s got support of those commissioners in those counties, and it’s larger than the monument was. And on top of that one, Senator Hickenlooper and Bennett also proposed another 68,000-acre – I’m sorry, 58,000-acre national conservation area on the lower Dolores River in Montezuma, San Miguel, and Dolores counties. And so those aren’t in my counties. But I’m taking it by personal stance in opposition to that. I’ve actually talked to Josh and the Blue Ribbon Coalition. So don’t think because we avoided or were successful in keeping land and liberty in one chance that we’ve stopped it. They’re still coming after it, and we’ve got some elected political figures in Colorado that need to hear from the people. They need to understand how it affects cattle grazing allocations. the future of oil and gas exploration, critical mineral extraction, and just freedom. People can’t hike there, hunt there, ride your side-by-side, take your dog for a walk, right? The GORP is actually worse than the monument proposal was because it does include wilderness designation. It’s a true threat to liberty here in western Colorado, and I’m trying to make people aware of us so we can all band together and have our voices heard.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and unfortunately, it sounds like it’s those from both sides of the aisle that have their names on this. And so what are you seeing, though, from the Trump administration? Is there not an understanding of what this actually would do to liberty? Or have you had any interaction with the Trump administration on it?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, and I think it’s important for people to understand that everything in the government by design works slowly, right? So just because there’s a piece of proposed legislation by any party, it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. It has to go through the proper channels of congressional oversight. It will go in the committee. It will be weighed on. And right now with the conservative or Republican Party having both the majority in the Congress, the House, and the presidency – or in the Senate, sorry – So there’s a really good chance that we’re not going to see some of this stuff come through. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be later on. Administrations change. The pendulum always swings one way or the other. So it’s important to keep people engaged and involved. And the more you know, the better versed you are to try to stand up and say no. What people need to understand is that any piece of legislation is a restriction or a Liberty dies.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, and you mentioned expiration for oil and gas, and we are seeing such an assault upon oil and gas here in Colorado. And Excel, which provides electricity here in the metro area, they have instituted these things called smart meters. And I was talking with someone yesterday. He said that his… energy bills have gone up significantly since these smart meters were put in place and if you choose not to have a smart meter then excel actually charges you extra and making energy is expensive so that people can just to live life, to cool their home in the summer, warm it in the winter, do your wash, just take care of your regular life. This is what is under assault, is human beings being able to thrive and prosper. Ultimately, that is what is under assault here, Sean Pond.
SPEAKER 16 :
No, you’re exactly correct. And I think it’s important that we’ve already seen oil and gas exploration curtailed under the last administration. And this administration, thank God for President Trump, has an energy, wants to make America energy dominant again. And I’m buying that 100 percent. Most of the people that I know are. It’s going that way. But if you look at Colorado, we’ve already cut back oil and gas permits. I’m hoping that’s going to come back. And now we have 21 coal-fired power plants in Colorado. And I don’t know if the public understands that those are all slated to be shut down by the year 2031. So think about that. Colorado will have no coal-filed power plants by the year 2031, and that is the Polish administration’s push for solar. And that’s another fight that we have here in Montrose County is we have solar co-ops or power co-ops that are trying to cover agricultural land, beautiful places, in solar panels. And I’m not anti-solar, but I am anti-green energy. There’s nothing green about it. It’s alternative energy land grabs, in my opinion. So what you’re saying is absolutely correct. And the only way we’re going to change this mentality, ladies and gentlemen, is if we get out and vote, if we get the moderates to get off the fence, if we get people to be involved and look at the real threat of to everyday cost of living, to liberty, to freedom. And we get people motivated. We get the voter turnout enough. We change out number one, John Hickenlooper’s seat. That’s coming up in 26. We’ve got to keep Michael Bennett out of the governorship, in my opinion. These are important things that we can start to change the political environment here in Colorado. And people need to wake up. It’s time to get off the tractor, get out of the barn, take time, get involved in politics, make sure you understand who you’re voting for. It’s crucial right now in Colorado’s history.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, it really is. Are you finding, and you’re a new county commissioner, but there’s all these different county commissioner meetings. Are you finding that you have any other colleagues that recognize just the late hour that we are in here in Colorado?
SPEAKER 16 :
Absolutely, yeah. I was able to spend about a week in Denver at the Capitol, got to see a firsthand picture. Watch how that was going. I spent a week in D.C. I actually spent some time with Congresswoman Lauren Boebert and Congressman Jeff Hurd and some other of our elected officials in D.C. And I’m starting to put it all together and see how things flow and where they are. And I’m going to be quite honest and blunt here. But my advice to politicians, people from my seat and up is. You need to stop worrying about being reelected. Stop worrying about appeasing both parties. You need to figure out where you stand. Remember the oath you took to the Constitution, and remember who put you there. And when that happens in Colorado and other places across the country, I believe there’ll be a dynamic shift in policy. It’s time. It truly is.
SPEAKER 05 :
It really is. And again, this is a very important piece that is published at Rocky Mountain Voice by Montrose Commissioner Sean Pond. And the time is now. We are at the time to reclaim our state and our country. I do think, Commissioner Pond, that as I’m looking at headlines, I think that these headlines are trying to foment… a confusion in people’s minds. I think that they’re trying to make people tired of all of these different events that are happening out there. And I think that I think that’s by design. I think that they’re trying to put sand in the gears right now with the Trump administration to get to 2026 and then if Democrats are able to take either the House or the Senate, then they will be able to stop the positive things that the Trump administration is doing, Sean.
SPEAKER 16 :
You’re exactly right again. It’s by design, and it has a very distinct purpose, and again, They can throw all the sand in the gears if they want to, but if people are aware, people are involved, and you’re getting up, you’re getting them voted. We need people to run for school boards, DMEA boards, town council. Stand up and run for office. The uninvolved, the moderates, and the middles, when those people start to get involved, they can throw all the sand they want to, but liberty is always going to come out on top. When people have a choice, they will choose freedom each and every time.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, well, you’re doing a great job on that, Sean Pond. And, again, I’d recommend that people check this out. And it’s Sean, S-E-A-N, Pond. And, you know, let’s stay in touch. You’re doing amazing work as Montrose County Commissioner.

So check out that website. That’s AmericanValuesCenter.org. And I want to hear from you. Text line is 720-605-0647. And we have Ron on the line. Ron, what is on your radar?
SPEAKER 14 :
Hi, Kim. I’ve been listening to you and about all these other politicians going in there and how they’re trying to confuse and inundate with all these bills and stuff. And it’s a Cincinnati shuffle. They’re trying to confuse and take away from the main objective, which is God. It’s good against evil, and that’s what they’re pushing. And if you ask these people where they stand on that, I think they would take the good, hopefully, over the evil. And with the children, mutilations, I was watching, it’s called Federal. They’re taking it up with these guns. The Second Amendment, they should make it federal. They should bring the federal government into this because of what they’re trying to do. But again, it’s good against evil, in my opinion.
SPEAKER 05 :
No, I think that that’s really true. And, Ron, I was thinking about these little ones, and they truly are under assault. Just regarding the Christian camp that Representative Brandy Bradley had mentioned, this mixing our children up, this gender confusion, And so here you have a Christian camp and the state of Colorado is going to dictate, or try to dictate, the camp is saying no, that boys be in girl spaces and girls in boy spaces. This is all sowing confusion in our little ones’ minds. And I was on a walk recently and I saw some little kids on their bicycles and they had their helmets on. And I thought, here you have parents that care so much about their kids that they’re concerned about they might be injured uh get a head injury if they uh you know fell off their bicycle um but we i think a lot of these parents don’t realize that there is so much that’s going inside our children’s brains that that are is much more damaging than if they fell off their bike and scraped their knee and kim yeah go ahead uh-huh they’re uh
SPEAKER 14 :
I think we brought it up last time about the helmets and the seatbelts. The government doesn’t care if you fall off your bike. They don’t care about you. They don’t care if you get hurt. They don’t care if you’re wearing a seatbelt. What this is is it’s conditioning you. So little bits and pieces so you fall in line and they find these little things that you go in and they can slide it in on you and you become more obedient.
SPEAKER 05 :
I think you’re absolutely right. And that was one of the things that I was very uncomfortable with regarding the forced or coerced helmets for our kids. In fact, I haven’t done bicycle riding for a while, but I would actually be a rebel and I would not wear a helmet just because of that. I felt that it was a conditioning. And that is one of the things that Commissioner Pond had in his piece. He said something’s happening in Colorado. We can feel it. It’s not on the surface, but beneath it, beneath the silence, beneath the carefully packaged language of equity, sustainable and progress, sustainability and progress. We are being conditioned slowly, quietly and deliberately. And Ron, we saw a lot of that conditioning then in the reaction to COVID-19 as well.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes, absolutely. And yes, they wanted to see how far they pushed it. They could push it. And I think they went too far. Now people realize what they’re trying to do.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, I think so, too. So, Ron, thank you so much. I greatly appreciate the call. 303-477-5600 is the number. 303-477-5600. Text line is 720-605-0647. This came in on the text line from Richard. He said he heard some good news over the weekend. It concerned this family from Columbia. that are here illegally. Their 15-year-old son was driving the family car at 90 miles per hour in a 45 zone with younger siblings in the car. And he killed a 24-year-old young woman in Aurora. The DA in Arapahoe County agreed to place the child on probation. The mother claimed he had taken the car without permission, so she was not responsible. Over the weekend, I heard the feds went out and arrested this kid and arrested the parents. And so Richard said that he thinks that this is good news personally. I also just saw something that this was Jerry Nadler, who is, let’s see, I think he is, is he a senator? Now I can’t remember. Yeah. says Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler. The feds went into his office. Apparently, allegedly, the 77-year-old longtime congressman erupted in fury after the Department of Homeland Security officers got into his office before accusing his staff of harboring rioters in scenes captured on video. So we’ve got to stay really focused on what it is that we need to accomplish here in Colorado. And what we need to do is we need to reclaim our Constitution, this vision that we’re all created equal with these rights from God of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. And we’ve got to make sure one of the things is we all have to be treated the same under the law. That means that the government can’t be picking winners and losers. And that’s what happens when you have a government that is saying that one set of people have to be compliant with something and one people don’t. I was thinking about housing this weekend. and how housing has gotten so expensive here in Colorado, in California, and it’s because, again, government has made it more and more difficult for developers to build single-family homes, and yet given favorable terms to these multi-story, multi-family, five-story apartment buildings up and down the corridor, rail corridor. And you ask, why are they continuing to double down on this? And I think it’s because they are on this agenda and they’re not giving up, even though the Trump administration I think is trying to push back on a lot of this stuff. We see at the local, the county, and the state level them continuing to double down on this Marxist agenda, which is taking away freedom. And And Ginny is so well informed regarding these enterprise zones that we were talking about. And the enterprise zones were put in place to get around Tabor. And unfortunately, we had Republicans that helped do this. And one of those was with the hospital provider fee. And we had people Representative Sonnenberg and Representative Grantham who helped get the hospital provider zones put in place which took all of this money outside of Tabor and it empowered the state of Colorado to grow and grow and grow bigger and bigger government. And we’ve got to understand what’s going on. That’s why we do the show, is to shed light on what is happening here in Colorado so that we can reclaim this beautiful state. And Colorado is in trouble right now. We’re at the tip of the spear, but so many great people are stepping forward to reclaim Colorado. And so I’m very encouraged with all of that that’s going on. I just realized that I had neglected to mention Hooters Restaurants, which is a great sponsor of the show. They have five locations, Loveland, Aurora, Lone Tree, Westminster, and Colorado Springs. And how I got to know them, it is a really important story about the proper role of government, capitalism, and PBIs, politicians, bureaucrats, and interested parties that want to use their power to control people’s lives. That’s not the way it is supposed to be. So again, thank you to Hooters Restaurants for their sponsorship of the show as well. And our quote for the end of the show is from Napoleon Hill. He says, do not wait. The time will never be just right. Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you may have. So today, be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you, and God bless America.

I don’t want no one to cry, but tell them if I don’t survive.
