When they were finally given the opportunity Black fighter pilots, the Tuskegee Airmen also known as the Red Tails, achieved an unrivaled record of protection for bombers on their missions to stamp out Hitler’s tyranny. Gabrielle Martin shares the story of her father Captain Robert L. Martin. Captain Martin was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross, a Purple Heart, and Air Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters.
