What I tell you yesterday about Trump’s ability to pivot. There’s some pivoting going on in Minnesota. Not everybody’s happy with it. Some people are a little unhappy about it. the level of cooperation that has suddenly emerged between Waltz and Fry and Trump. People are surprised, to say the least. Reportedly, Waltz called the president yesterday. Now, why would he do that? Well, we’re learning more and more about the role of this signal chat system and how it was used to organize mass protests in Minnesota and the potential involvement of the waltz administration. Might just be that this guy has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar over a very nefarious, dangerous, pretty scary… process mobilizing dangerous, violent protesters against the law enforcement efforts in Minnesota. A lot of people on the warpath. You know what I’m thinking about today? I’m thinking about the kind of person who decides to be a nurse. She decides to turn her life and her career over to caring for other people. She’s a nurse. Her name is Melinda. Melinda works at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia. Apparently, she also works over at Duke University. And Melinda, the nurse, posted a series of videos on TikTok. In fact, one of the videos she posted is her in her nursing scrubs. Again… Think a little bit about her career choice. Think about her path in life. I’m going to be a nurse, ostensibly to care for other people. She decided to make a political statement about law enforcement. Check out Melinda, the nurse from Virginia, and her TikTok videos, which have obviously gone viral.

I thought of something good. I think it’s a weird spot. Um, sabotage tactic or at least scare tactic. Um, all the medical providers grab some syringes with needles on the end, have them full of saline or succinylcholine, you know, whatever, whatever. That will probably be a deterrent. Be safe. Okay. For today’s resistance tip, I vote, um, anybody got any, uh, poison ivy, poison oak in their yard. Get some of that up with gloves, obviously. Get it in some water. Like a gallon of water. Get some… Get the poison ivy, oak water. And I’m going to put it into a water gun. Aim for… Aim for faces. Hands. Alright, the single ladies where these ice guys are going have a chance to do something. You know, not without risk, but Could help the cause for sure. Get on Tinder, get on Hinge, find these guys. They’re around. They’re a nice agent. Bring some X-lax and put it in their drinks. Get them sick. You know, nobody’s going to die. Just enough to incapacitate them and get them off the street for the next day. Highly easily deniable. You know, you could get sick too. Won’t eat there again. I’m just saying. Let’s get them where they eat. Somebody’s not going to be supporting these guys. Where’s the hotel where they eat? Who makes that breakfast? Let’s find them. Let’s make their lives miserable. I know we’re already trying to keep them awake all night. That’s good. Anything you can do to make the living conditions bad. Talk to the people who work at the places where they are. We’ll get some ideas. Dead fish. Somewhere in the room hidden.

Just stay toxic. Stay toxic, says the nurse. The health care worker. the woman who chose to work in an occupation where she gives life-saving care to strangers. And, of course, she’s been completely exposed. Her identity has been totally revealed. Her nursing license has been posted online. Personal information about her is revealed. Her life is completely shattered. But here’s the thing. This was not a conversation she was having with somebody else that happened to be captured on video. Do you ever stop and think about the process of posting a video for public consumption where you tell the world, I, Melinda, this nurse at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia, want to tell you how to inject ICE officers with a temporary paralysis drug and how to spray poison on them. I’m going to make a video now as a nurse, me, Melinda, the Virginia nurse. I’m going to encourage women to go on dates with these ICE officers and poison and drug their food. Now, you look at her, she’s an ordinary, very pretty young woman. I don’t know how old she is. I know that if you go on social media, everything about her has been revealed. But my question is, do you ever stop and think about what it means to make a decision to post something that vile for public consumption? I mean, my point is, it’s one thing to say those kinds of horrific things to strangers. She’s taking her cell phone and she’s pointing it at herself and she’s making these videos that she wants people to see. Now, I don’t know if there was another nurse the other day hoping for Caroline Leavitt to die on the operating table when she has her baby. These are nurses, and they’re nurses who are intentionally sending a message that they want the public to consume. I’m convinced these are not lunatics. These aren’t just people with mental illness. These are real demons, and they’re in the healthcare profession. These are demonic, evil, satanic kind of people who are proud, proud to post these videos for public consumption. Wow. I was reading a story today about how studies are showing that there’s a lot more diversity of thought and a willingness to look at all sides of an issue on the right than there is on the left. We’re seeing this right now play out in real time over the shooting death of Alex Preddy in Minneapolis. A lot of prominent conservatives are displeased. with some aspects of the way the Trump administration has handled this. And, you know, you don’t ever see that from the Democrats. They circle the wagons. And I understand the argument we should do more circling of the wagons and less a circular firing squad. But there are certainly incidents like this one where Democrats A diversity of opinion and beliefs can lead people to criticize the Trump administration. I don’t often hear Jonathan Turley, the law professor from over at Fox News, George Washington University, be particularly critical of the Trump administration in this manner. But here’s what he said yesterday about Kristi Noem and others suggesting that this 37-year-old nurse who was shot and killed Saturday was a domestic terrorist who was intending to massacre multiple federal law enforcement officials. Here was Jonathan Turley’s response to that.

Well, I do believe that there was an unforced error with regard to the administration and their initial accounts of this shooting. Those accounts are not borne out by those videotapes. I mean, it does not appear that he was threatening the officer. It appears that this certainly escalated after that first contact. And that is not the impression you received from those early statements. And so I think that what you see with the White House today is an attempt to really use Holman to offer a reset.

Strikes me is it’s worth acknowledging that mistakes have been made. A lot of mistakes are being made by a lot of people. Certainly Alex Preddy’s family is probably wondering why he went to a law enforcement operation fully armed with a 9mm and wound up dead. I’m sure people are wondering why Kristi Noem said some of the things she said. I’m sure people are wondering why Tim Walz likened children in Minneapolis to Anne Frank. Incidentally, thanks to everyone who corrected me yesterday, because I know that Anne Frank died of typhoid at one of the concentration camps. She wasn’t executed. I think I incorrectly said that once yesterday, so my apologies. But Anne Frank, of course, was the little girl, the book and the play and all that based on her life, the diary of Anne Frank, where she was hidden for a long time from the Nazis. And yesterday, or this week rather, Tim Waltz likened children in Minneapolis to a bunch of little Anne Franks. Kids in Minneapolis are afraid to go out. And I remember the story of Anne Frank. She was afraid to go. I mean, it was awful. It was really, really awful. So much so that the Holocaust Museum actually condemned Governor Walz for his remarks. You know, saying you should never minimize the horrors of the Holocaust. But nonetheless, here’s where we are. The word is pivot. And there’s clearly a pivot going on from the Trump administration. It seems very clear that a pivot is underway. And according to Politico, a number of Republicans on Capitol Hill expressed relief after President Trump announced yesterday he would send the border czar, Tom Holman, to handle immigration enforcement in Minnesota. Congressman Mike Lawler, a Republican from New York, said the move was a positive step to get the situation under control. John Thune, the Senate Majority Leader, called the move a positive development. Lindsey Graham offered praise, saying we need a new set of eyes and someone with his experience to help turn around the problems of the movement and the future. I don’t know what’s going to happen next. What I do know is a pivot was needed. And it was reported that Governor Walz reached out to Donald Trump, the president. It was reported that Fry and Trump spoke. It was reported that they’re trying to have a new spirit of cooperation and kind of a truce. It’s like all the adults on both sides of the political aisle are saying, wait a minute, people are getting killed in the streets. This isn’t working. We’ve got to do something different. Now, what that something is, who knows? I’ve got an idea. How about political leaders stop encouraging people to impede law enforcement? I don’t know why that’s so hard. I don’t know why it’s so difficult. I’m very impressed with, I don’t know, Joey Jones. Never really worked with him from back in the time that I was a Fox News contributor. He was filling in yesterday for Greg Gutfeld. And he did a monologue. It’s worth every second of it. It’s about three or four minutes long. I want to play it for you. Because he has a lot of common sense takeaways over what happened this past weekend in Minneapolis. We’ve got a lot to cover today. Welcome in. It’s Tuesday. Greg Gutfeld was stranded in California, couldn’t get into New York because of the snowstorm. And so Joey Jones, who is the veteran who lost his legs in combat and is a regular on Fox News, he was filling in for Greg Gutfeld. And he I’m just so glad that Jessica Tarloff. was on the set with him when he launched into this epic monologue about his analysis of the events of Minneapolis involving the shooting death of Alex Preddy. Let’s listen together to Joey Jones last night on Fox News Channel’s The Five.

There’s a couple of things. Number one, the Second Amendment is a right. I’m not a Second Amendment absolutist. You have the right to carry a weapon to defend yourself, not the privilege. It is a right. Those rights come with restrictions. I think you would understand that more than anyone at this table. One of those restrictions is you have to have your ID and your permit on you. We don’t know. Current reports are he didn’t have either one of those on, at which point he’s not carrying legally. But number two, even beyond that, with the right to carry a firearm comes the responsibility to do it correctly and to do it with foresight. And to do it understanding the situation you’re walking into and what could happen once you get there. Just about every state offers a class on that. And if you carry your firearm, you should take that class. And if your state charges you for it, you should go protest for that class to be taxpayer funded because it is a right. So that’s important. We can talk about policy all day long. There’s only one person in this world. that could have absolutely prevented Alex Pretty from getting shot that day, and it’s Alex Pretty. That doesn’t mean I think he should have been shot. I don’t think it was necessary whatsoever to shoot Alex Pretty to save a life. But I get to watch that incident from behind Alex Pretty, not as one of the arresting officers and not as potentially the person that I believe from looking at the video did shoot him. Why does he have 10 rounds in him? Because if you have to shoot anybody once, you better shoot them enough to kill them because if you’re shooting somebody, you think they’re trying to kill you. Every police officer in this country is taught that. If you want to change that, go lobby to have it changed. Why was he shot? He was shot because of the reasonableness clause, the reasonableness doctrine. The Supreme Court decided this, which is the fact that if you are a police officer conducting police work and someone has—and it’s explicitly outlined—someone has resisted arrest— violently or not, disobeyed orders and shown the means to harm you, then you have the ability to protect yourself. Now, do I think he should have been shot? No, because I see 10 things that happened before that happened that could have been handled differently. But what I don’t see are the 10 minutes before that happened. You call him a protester. I call him an agitator. He showed up with a cell phone. He showed up in the middle of the street in the middle of an operation. That’s common sense. I don’t care what your passions are. To carry a weapon on your person and to get in the middle of a police operation, whether you believe it or not, that is lawful 100%. Another way it could have been prevented is if there was a police cordon from Minneapolis Police Department stopping people from, like Alex Pretty, from getting in the middle of the operation rather than holding a sign and speaking loudly and proudly from 100 feet away. That is the end of the story. There might even be a federal agent that goes to jail because some jury or a federal investigation decides he acted prematurely or shot him and shouldn’t have. I’m not arguing or disputing that because I haven’t seen the investigation. But I know for a fact Alex Priddy had no business where he was in that moment. I know for a fact that he did resist arrest. And if you are carrying lawfully, the moment you resist arrest, you are now carrying unlawfully to the point that in the state of Minnesota, your carry permit is revoked in that moment. So the point here is nobody’s condemned in this other than the politicians that let it happen. And if for you, that’s Donald Trump, and if for you, that’s Tim Walz, as an American citizen, I’m glad both of them talked today. This doesn’t ever need to happen again. Border Patrol agents need to get to the border and do their job. Minneapolis Police Department, all 600 of them, if they need to, need to be there to help. I surgically extract people like, what’s his name, Jose Huerta Chuma, who is a violent rap sheet that includes domestic assault involving intentional bodily harm. I don’t care who you are in this country, but if you’re willing to risk your life for that person, whatever happens to you, my sympathy goes down quite a bit. I don’t want anybody to get hurt. I love people. I even love bad people. But for God’s sake, have some common sense. That’s your responsibility, especially if you’re carrying a weapon. And that was not exercised, and I can’t help that.

Powerful, powerful commentary from Joey Jones. Isn’t he right? Isn’t every word of that spot on? And I’m with him. I’m glad that Waltz and Fry and Trump and Tom Holman and Christine, I’m glad they’re all talking. The worst part of this for me has been witnessing Democrat leadership in Minnesota refuse to cooperate with the federal government. Whether you like it or not, the majority of Americans favor the mass deportation that is underway. That hasn’t changed. I don’t suspect that will change. Maybe for some. But then becomes the question, what do we do about it? If cities and states are refusing to cooperate and hand over criminals to ICE for deportation, we’ve got a real problem on our hands. And so whatever you think of what happened with the shooting itself, change is coming. And maybe change is coming because even conservative stalwarts like Newt Gingrich are somewhat critical of the administration’s response to the shooting of Alex Preddy. Here was Newt last night on Fox Business Network.

But I think as a country, we believe, to quote Congressman Salazar, who said this is about dignity. Americans don’t want to see the police behaving like a mob. Americans don’t want to see people killed in the streets. And Americans don’t want to see the kind of hunting down people in a way that really demeans the process. So I think there are two things. We need a national conversation about what we’re going to do about people who’ve come here, some of them 20 years ago, who’ve been obeying the law, paying taxes, good neighbors, have kids, go to PTA. Very few Americans want to see the police walk in and pick them up and deport them. On the other hand, people do not want to give them citizenship. So there should be some middle ground here on long-term goals.

Now, look, I’ve always said I think Newt Gingrich is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. I don’t know that anybody realistically thinks police are acting like mobs. I see police defending themselves. I see law enforcement in Minneapolis trying to conduct lawful operations and they’re being impeded and obstructed and harassed and assaulted by these organized mobs. So, you know, again, I say this with respect. I don’t know that I… think Newt is correct when he says Americans don’t want to see police acting like mobs. But look, Newt is probably reflecting perception. And maybe politically, perception is reality. Give me your take on all of it. Lots of reporting as to whether Trump himself is unhappy with Kristi Noem or not. Tom Holman is on the ground apparently in Minneapolis. They’re investigating the shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti this past Saturday. Schumer is making demands to try to avoid another government shutdown. More on that. But as Ed Morrissey writes over at Hot Air, it looks like de-escalation is back on the menu. Trump announced that he and Governor Walz spoke by phone about calming the situation in Minneapolis. Trump called it a very good call in a post on Truth Social. claiming that Waltz is now on a similar wavelength about enforcement of law and protection of order in Minnesota. And Ed writes over at Hot Air, this might be the first fruits of Trump’s decision to bypass Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem by putting Tom Holman in charge. Hello, Mike. Good morning. When you said we need diversity of thought, I think equity, diversity, and inclusion, which is how we got here. But then you redeemed yourself when you fought back against what Newt Gingrich said. We’ve got to quit backing down. The GOP has been spineless and yellow-bellied for so long. I’m tired of backing down. Someone bites my finger off, I’m going to rip their arm off. Someone tries to pull into me, I’m going to get a scalpel. It’s time for us to fight back. Donald Trump didn’t start this. Tim Walz started this. And for him to bow down to Tim Walz and go up there and beg Tim Walz to de-escalate this, Tim Walz is the one who escalated it to start with. We have to fight back. There’s no diversity.

Well, and again, diversity is a dirty word, and I know it. And as soon as I said it, I knew somebody would say, oh, Gallagher’s talking about. Look, diversity is not necessarily a pejorative. The study I was referring to was diversity of thought within the Republican side of the aisle. So you don’t have to go running into screaming to the hills if somebody uses the word diversity. But let me ask you something, Dean, and I appreciate your passion. Do you not want de-escalation in Minneapolis? Yes. I mean, if they’re going to come out, like I said, if they’re going to bite my finger off, I’m going to rip their arm off. That’s not what I asked you. Listen to my question. Let me hear my question. Do you not want things to de-escalate in Minneapolis?

When they quit coming after our law enforcement officers, then we can de-escalate. As long as they’re banging on the walls of hotels and trying to keep us awake, as long as they’re coming at us with firearms, as long as they’re trying to run us over with cars, no, they want to de-escalate. I want to fight back.

Yeah, so you don’t want de-escalation.

You just want to… I mean, if they’re not going to agree, if we de-escalate and they don’t, we become the victims.

Well, and the fear is that we’re caving to mob rule, which is your point. Exactly. You know, that we’re letting the bad guys win. That’s my fear. I get it. I get it. You know what I do? You know what I think? I trust Trump. Do you trust Trump?

Well, I don’t when he’s weak-kneed with Tim Walz. Tim Walz needs to be in jail. If Tim Walz and Haggerty and Ellison and Fry are in jail this fall, I’m not voting for Republicans.

I appreciate your passion. I think you’re misguided. I trust Trump. I trust his instincts. And I knew that he was going. And look, I knew he was going to get criticism for this. There’s no question. You’ve got people lining up from Newt Gingrich to Jonathan Turley to many others saying, well, look at Bill O’Reilly last night, Dean. Here’s Bill O’Reilly saying, where’s the FBI? Bill O’Reilly went on a tear with Leland Vitter on News Nation. And I’m so glad that Bill is evidently doing well. I think he was suffering from some internal bleeding, as I read about online. But he’s back and in fighting shape. Where are they?

Where is Kash Patel? All right. You can debate videotape all day long. You can say whatever you want to say. But there has to be an overriding authority in this state. And there isn’t. Did you see, Leland, because you’ve been studying it like I have, one Minneapolis police officer protecting ICE against the demonstrators? Did you see one? No, but that’s not the FBI’s job to investigate them. The answer is no. The answer is no. You didn’t see one because there wasn’t one there. And this is a public safety issue with dead people. No local or state cops. None. By order of the governor and the mayor. That is insane. That may be insane, Bill, but you want Kash Patel to investigate the governor because he didn’t order the police to protect ICE? You bet I do. That’s the solution? You bet I do. Not protecting ICE. If the FBI comes in and finds that the agents, the federal agents, one ICE, one Border Patrol, all right, were derelict in their duties or used malice, I want those people indicted. Clear? Are we clear? But on the same token, you have got two elected officials that could be charged with rebellion and insurrection under the U.S. Code 2383. This is a rebellion. That is why the people are dead. Nobody brings a gun, a loaded gun, nobody, CNN, to a confrontation with federal agents who are under siege. No one does that. That man did. Because, in my opinion, he was so crazed by the situation, so agitated, as I am right now, that he had lost all judgment. Now, listen to me. The authorities, governor, mayor, feds, have to control that. The controlling bureau is the FBI, not Homeland Security.

Bill O’Reilly fired up last night on News Nation with Leland Vitter. Look, you know, I’m thinking a lot about Dean’s call from Kentucky a minute ago. I’m not willing to escalate. We got it. This is war. Well, we either can go down the path of a civil war in a city like Minneapolis, or cooler heads prevail and leaders get together and figure out a way to de-escalate. And I’m sorry, I happen to agree with President Trump sending in Tom Holman. I think it’s a great idea. In fact, it’s a fantastic idea. It is, as usual, a stroke of genius coming from the 45th and 47th president of the United States. Here was Chad Wolf last night on Fox News, the former acting DHS secretary, saluting and congratulating President Trump for the decision to send the border czar to Minneapolis.

You know, we just heard from Caroline Levitt that the president has confidence in Kristi Noem. But, you know, as someone who was in the former administration, what do you think? Do you think we’re going to see changes made in personnel?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, we certainly could. Look, here’s what I will tell you is that those DHS law enforcement officers at ICE, at CBP, they absolutely love President Trump. And why? Because he has their back. He supports them. That being said, a lot of these officers, obviously, this is their career. This is what they do. And the vast majority of their operations are done out of sight. They’re not done on CNN and Fox and elsewhere all day, every day. And so I think they are always concerned. Is this getting out of control? Are we politicizing what they do, which is just enforcing the law? It’s not political in their minds. It’s just simply the law is immigration enforcement. And this is what we’re doing. So if there are concerns, those are those are likely it now. Having the president send Tom Homan up there, I think, is just a stroke of genius. I think Tom is exactly the right person. Why? Because he is also a career law enforcement. He’s an operator. He knows exactly what needs to be done there and where is the give and take. Where can we get a win for both so that you can bring the violence and the chaos down but that ICE can continue to do their mission. I think it’s important to remember, ICE is there to arrest criminal illegal aliens, and it’s much better to do that with local law enforcement. So if Tom Homan can get local law enforcement involved in assisting ICE, however that looks, whether that’s protecting them while they do the mission, whatever it might be, I think that’s a win.

It’s a very reasonable assessment. And, you know, again, back to Dean for a moment. And I know there’s an appetite for that. Oh, we’ve got to fight. We can’t back down. I’m not going to support Trump. He’s caving. He’s caving. So if the options are figure out how to de-escalate and reduce the chaos and the violence in a city like Minneapolis, Minnesota, or have World War III, Dean wants World War III. Dean wants the confrontation. Dean wants the battle. Again, I know where Dean’s coming from. I get it. We’re frustrated. It feels like the mob is winning. That pipsqueak, that scum, Gavin Newsom, tweeted out last night, oh, the Border Patrol guy is leaving Minneapolis. Keep it up. It’s working. They see this as a win. Well, let them take the win, I would submit, because we got a country to save and we got bigger fish to fry. We are months away from a midterm election. Don’t think that doesn’t play a role in all of this. Americans are looking at this very closely and seeing how this plays out. There has to be a de-escalation. No way around this. We can’t be going to civil war in Minneapolis and in New York and in Chicago and Boston and Baltimore and everywhere else. We’ve got to have, you know, cooler heads have to prevail. And Bill is right. Bill O’Reilly is spot on. I mean, for the local police to fail to do their jobs, what does that feel like to be a cop in Minneapolis and be told to stand down? Awful. Awful.
