SPEAKER 02 :
Mike Gallagher. Every day, Mike visits with Mark Davis, morning host on 660 AM, The Answer in Dallas. Here’s today’s Eminem experience.
SPEAKER 04 :
There was so much that happened last week. My gosh. I mean, the Tesla drama, the judges drama, the violence that’s going on. The Charlie Kirk videos that are going more and more viral where he goes onto college campuses and he debates these kids one-on-one, and they’re so good. Did you see the one with the kid and his progressive dad, the conservative son and the progressive dad?
SPEAKER 03 :
Because there are two kinds of things that happen in the Charlie Kirk, and they all tend to be outside of these events that have thousands of people. Sometimes it’s the gentle dressing down of a woman who thinks it’s great to kill babies. Sometimes it’s a young man who took issue with Charlie’s shirt about something immigration-related. Oh, no, Gulf of America. Exactly, Gulf of America.
SPEAKER 04 :
The kid was offended by that.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. The one that you’re referring to, though, it was a dad and his son, a liberal dad and a conservative young man, so it’s noteworthy right off the bat, showing genuine love for each other and Charlie exhorting them to never let politics interfere with their family.
SPEAKER 04 :
Charlie says to the dad, why don’t you, because he said, why is your son conservative? And the dad’s answer was, heck if I know, I don’t know, blah, blah, blah. And Charlie said, why don’t you know? There’s problem number one.
SPEAKER 03 :
If you don’t know why, right, it means you’re not paying attention.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s right, and you’re not listening to him, and he maybe isn’t listening to you. And incidentally, it was such an interesting visual. The kid has, like, neck tattoos and, you know, like goth, almost like a goth look. I would not have spotted him as a Trump voter. No, but he became one because he said, look, I don’t like the condition of the country. Look, I have to look at the reaction of a lot of people on the left right now. Somebody posted, this was a leftist on social media over the weekend. I know this is dramatic, she wrote, but I’m really upset about all the Teslas being torched and the vandalism occurring nationwide. This is the worst look for the left. Violent, angry, and destructive. All of this being directed at a clean energy company. I’m so disappointed. I mean, it’s so head-snapping, it’s so head-turning to see what the left has become all because of Elon Musk. And again, they used to love the guy when he was not on Team Trump. It’s only about the tribalism. That’s all it’s about. It’s only about what side are you on. And you’re either with me or you’re against me. And I don’t know what we should do on our side about this. I got an email over the weekend from an organization trying to bring the left and right together. And they said, do you want a guest on from something Angels, America Angels or something? And I’m going to forward it to Tracy to see if we want to have him on because I think we need more of that video clip of Charlie Kirk and the father and the son talking with each other, not at each other. What is it you’re so angry about? Look, I don’t know that all the anger is artificial on the part of the left. And I believe that we’re called as humans, as fellow Americans, to listen to one another. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, Mark. Do you? I don’t.
SPEAKER 03 :
And yet when we talk about what it means to listen. When we listen to people saying that borders don’t matter, when we listen to people saying there are 47 genders, when we listen to people saying that my SUV is making the planet warmer, okay, there’s the listening part. But then there must be the answering back part, tactfully, civilly saying, no, you guys are absolutely wrong about these things. Right. And that’s a necessary part. The listening must be followed by talking. The list must be followed by constructive conversation.
SPEAKER 04 :
And coming to our own conclusions, look, I think the listening exercise and the talking with each other rather than at each other falls under the category of persuasiveness. All you’re trying to do is persuade the other side. They’ll try to persuade us. Tell us what you’re angry about. Why do you think it’s okay to carve a swastika into a Tesla? Tell us why you think that’s okay. Tell us why you don’t want a secure border. I mean, these are things, and look, there is common ground. Tweet by Guy Benson from Town Hall and Fox News. And Guy is concerned that there’s a report that there have been some illegals who were swept up in the immigration raids who are now in a prison somewhere in Venezuela, and they’re not criminals. And Guy’s position was—now, I don’t want to jump to conclusions, although he— Kind of did. Yeah, but he said if only one person is right now in a Venezuelan prison, I mean, it’s real dramatic and it’s real over the top. But on the other hand, he got me thinking, you know, we don’t want people who aren’t criminals in a Venezuelan prison. But then again, every one of them are illegals. So they’re here illegally to begin with. But I think Guy is probably right. That doesn’t mean you ought to land in a Venezuelan prison. And I keep hearing… Elon Musk’s voice in the Oval Office with the kid, the little ex, crawling all over him. And he said, look, we’re going to make some mistakes. And when we make mistakes, we’ve got to fix them. We’ve got to be transparent. We’ve got to be open about it. And that’s what we have to lean on because I do believe that’s the right course of action, Mark.
SPEAKER 03 :
I do, too. And I would – okay. The one – It’s an old slogan of jurisprudence that we would rather let 10 guilty people go free than imprison one innocent person in the American justice system. And I subscribe to that. Does that necessarily extend to we’d rather not deport 100 dangerous people than have one non-dangerous innocent person in a prison in Venezuela? I guess so. It is a human process. It is going to be filled with human flaws. And I think Elon’s solution, if you want to call it one, is that. And listen, I’m reading this biography of his, Elon Musk, by Walter Eisenstein.
SPEAKER 04 :
I want to get it. Do it.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s 600 pages, every single one of them a gem. You totally understand him, whether it’s SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, the 14 other things that he’s doing, or now Doge or reforming American government. He goes all in, both feet, everything cranked up to 11. And if there’s a mistake, you identify the mistake, you correct the mistake, and ultimately you wind up with a better, more ambitious solution than if you’d just been hemming and hawing and twiddling your thumbs. But let’s go back.
SPEAKER 04 :
But let’s go back to the point you made. This is very interesting to me. So if you’ve got 100 violent people who are deported and wind up in a Venezuelan or a prison in El Salvador somewhere, and one or two or five of them are not violent criminals. They were swept up. They were a neighbor. It was a tattoo that wasn’t recognizable, yada, yada. Here’s the problem. And what Guy Benson is inadvertently suggesting, I think, and he said, I fully support the deportation. And most Americans do. Let’s be clear. But if we start seeing instances of mistakes, which will be…

SPEAKER 04 :
Characterized as abuse, there’s a risk that the whole thing gets shut down. That’s what you said that’s so important, Mark. And so here’s the question. Do we have the stomach for acknowledging mistakes? Here’s the big issue to me, due process. What’s the due process for those people who may or may not have been incorrectly rounded up.
SPEAKER 03 :
It would seem to be an immigration judge. It’s not the full due process that you or I would get if they arrest us for something on the street or in our homes tomorrow for running a meth lab or a trafficking operation or something like that. There’s extensive due process for American citizens, etc., It is not that elaborate and not that multilayered for people once we’ve put them in the deportation target. But it does seem like if somebody has a point to make that says, hey, here’s why I should not be deported, it seems like, got 15 minutes, let’s hear what that argument is and see if it’s worthy.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right, and I believe that the concern is a valid one. There’s just no question. So look, we have to have our eyes wide open, but I think we’ve got to be listening. I think we’ve got to have a degree of empathy. We have to have some understanding that things can go wrong and people are going to get hurt, and that’s hard. We don’t want people to get hurt. We want the bad guys to have accountability. So there’s a lot unfolding here. Now look, let me ask you about the movies. You love movies. I love movies. I can’t wait to start binging 1923 and The Pit. Well, both of them. They’re on my list. I’m going to start maybe tonight. I’m going to start watching these shows. I like documentaries. I watched one with my friends Peg and Joey when I was in South Carolina last week about the tornado that wiped out Joplin, Missouri. It’s a fascinating documentary, and there’s a lot. If you like weather and you like those kind of weather scenarios, I mean, they had a lot of video of that horrible – I think it killed 161 people, and it was mostly focused on a high school, the high school that was wiped out. But anyway, we love – and I love it. You’re right. We’re kind of in a golden era. Whether we want to – we don’t like the wokeness. Well, let’s look at what the wokeness did to Snow White. Oh, yeah. That movie had a $250 million budget. It opened with $43 million in domestic ticket sales, light years below, miles below what they wanted for it. And you got this star, Rachel Zegler, who’s going around, and she’s obviously a Trump hater, and she’s making all these obnoxious comments. I saw one clip. If I’ve got to stand around in an iconic Disney princess costume for hours on end, I’m going to get paid for every hour that that costume is being streamed online. I thought, oh, that’s lovely. That’s nice. Like you didn’t make enough money to do the movie?
SPEAKER 03 :
And by the way, in the movies, they do refer to Snow White To the name actually having come from the creamy complexion of her skin, right?
SPEAKER 04 :
Right. That’s where it was originally. Not anymore. That’s what it is now. It’s because she was born during a snowstorm. Of course, you can’t say skin as white as snow. And you can’t let the prince rescue her. Oh, no, no, no. Not in… Not the way he did.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, no, no. Not with that non-consensual kiss. Oh, no.
SPEAKER 04 :
And finally, you know what started all this, right? Dwarves.
SPEAKER 03 :
Dwarves. That’s right. And you know who… Peter Dinklage, who’s an actual little person… OK, Ricky Gervais, who, again, I disagree with, stone cold atheist and also one of the funniest people in the world, said that there’s irony in Peter Dinklage complaining about little people being used in a film as any kind of undercutting the actual work environment for people who have the exact same sort of challenge that he faces. He says, I got to tell you, I watched I watched Peter Dinklage. He was not happy. In fact, I think he was grumpy.
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, ouch. Well, but here’s what I do know about Peter Dinklage’s outrage and what he said was it’s dehumanizing to cast little people as dwarves. That’s so silly. That’s so wrong. Well, here’s what I know. You know what it costs to have animated dwarves in the Snow White movie? You know what those animated figures got? Nothing. You know what seven little people actors would have gotten? A big fat paycheck. Of course. So he put seven people out of work. This is unbelievable to me. This is what wokeness does. It invades. It infects the brain. It makes smart people. Yes, and nice people mean. Look, that’s the Mark Davis rule about Trump hatred. I think it could be applied to wokeism. It’s true. Wokeism takes smart people, makes them dumb, and nice people, and makes them mean.
SPEAKER 03 :
Makes funny people unfunny.
SPEAKER 04 :
Tell me you saw Trump walk into the NCAA Wrestling Championship.
SPEAKER 03 :
I sure did. Was that in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
SPEAKER 04 :
In Philly? Contrary to reports, I’ve looked at the video ten different ways from Sunday. No booze. No boos at all. Media eye tried to say, oh, well, there were some boos and there was a protest out front. Yeah, nice try. Nice try. The man is the people’s president. Now, I’m not sure J.D. is as popular as he is. Maybe tomorrow we can pick up where we left off. Some recent polling suggests… To quote Senator John Kennedy, or to paraphrase, that J.D. is as popular as chlamydia. I mean, John Kennedy is the gift that keeps giving.
SPEAKER 03 :
Of course, he wasn’t referring to J.D.
SPEAKER 04 :
No, no, he was referring to one of the policies of the left. But I don’t know. Is it possible? Why? What would be?
SPEAKER 03 :
Because, I mean, I love J.D.
SPEAKER 04 :
Is it the Zelensky meeting in the White House, maybe?
SPEAKER 03 :
Whom did that bother? Whom did that bother?
SPEAKER 04 :
The woke anti-dwarves.
SPEAKER 03 :
The right people are upset. Generally. I guess. But let’s do talk about that tomorrow because guess what? We’ve got tomorrow. We’ve got tomorrow. We’ve got all week. We’ve got all week. So tip your wafers.
SPEAKER 04 :
We’ve got two weeks before I go on vacation. So then I get to punish you. All right. Happy Monday. I love you. Glad you’re back. Glad you’re back. Welcome back, my friend.
