John Rush kicks off the week with a thoughtful and surprisingly heartfelt conversation with Al Smith of Golden Eagle Financial. With the holidays approaching, John and Al dive into what really matters—wisdom, planning, and the legacy we leave behind. They talk about end-of-year financial reviews, long-term retirement strategy, and what it means to pass down more than dollars.
Al shares stories from clients—young and old—about life-changing decisions, unexpected events, and the importance of planning before it’s too late. John emphasizes the conservative value of self-sufficiency and warns against the “I’ll figure it out later” attitude that leaves far too many
SPEAKER 05 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 14 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 05 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 14 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 11 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 12 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush, presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 07 :
All right, welcome. Another edition of Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush. It’s Monday. Hopefully you guys all had a fabulous weekend. I’ve got on the phone with me today Al Smith from Golden Eagle Financial. Al, how are you, sir?
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m doing great. How are you, John?
SPEAKER 07 :
I’m doing great. Hopefully you had a great weekend. And as we head down this stretch, you know, kind of ending the end of the year, we’ll talk maybe one more time before the end of the year is all. And, you know, as we head down the end of the year, people start looking at Al, you know, the new year and people do resolutions and other things along those lines. Well, they also should be doing, if not. you know, financial planning and things that, you know, that are entailed there. On top of that, and you know some of what’s happened in, you know, my world of late with my folks passing and so on, and if you would, I’d like you to talk just for a moment about, you know, not necessarily the financial legacy that, you know, we can pass on to the next generation. Really important, by the way, and that’s where you come into play, but there’s more to it than just finances, right?
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, there really is, and some things I’ve learned because I’ve had quite a few clients pass on in the last few years, and the things which stick out to me more than financial circumstances and who gets what and the passing on of financial products and so forth is what their beneficiaries have learned, their sons and daughters have learned from the parent. I find this really interesting, the wisdom that’s passed on, and I think everyone listening who is up in years can benefit from having conversations with your sons and daughters about what you believe is important for them to carry on.
SPEAKER 07 :
Absolutely. And I think my advice to folks would be don’t take that time that you have for granted. You may think, oh, I’ve got a lot of time left. I’ll visit. I’ll worry about things on down the road. And the reality, Al, as you know, is time passes quickly. The older we get, the faster it goes. So take that time as you can to do those things now. Where you also come into play, Al, is, again, as we enter the kind of last month of the year, we’re not that far away. Thanksgiving is next week, and then we’re on into the holidays. I mean, that really is the start of the holiday season. And again, a lot of people look at their annual retirement and their savings and what went on from one year to the other. And unfortunately, Al, and we’ve talked about this in the past, you and I, not everybody has a plan. So my goal for folks for 2026 would be, if you don’t have a plan, sit down with you and devise one.
SPEAKER 12 :
I agree totally. Recently had a conversation with a gentleman who suffered enormously from an auto crash, and he’s getting a settlement. And although he’s a younger man, he realizes the amount of the settlement is not some enormous lifetime nest egg, but it’s something he can protect and earmark for his future. And this gentleman’s only 33.
SPEAKER 07 :
Those are things that could change. Well, his life has changed regardless of what happens financially. But, you know, Al, and I think one of the things I try to coach even my clients on is we can make life-changing decisions on an ongoing basis if we plan ahead and do things correctly. I think the biggest thing for especially the financial aspect of things, which I talk a lot about and talk a lot about on the show because it really does matter at the end of the day. The economy, our finances, as we head to retirement or even those retirement years, whether you actually quit working or not, having enough money to live on so you’re not – and I think as conservatives especially, Al, this is really important. We believe in caring for ourselves and not relying on someone else. That self-sufficiency is really important to us, at least it is to me, and I know most of our listeners as well. And yet, Al, and this is not to belittle or begrudge anybody, there’s far too many that don’t plan ahead on that level, on the financial level.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, that’s absolutely correct. And rather than an event, it’s an ongoing process. Right. Because as you move closer to retirement, making the transition from work to retirement, you can see if you’re on track. That’s one of the things when people contact me, we… put their financial information into some software, and it’ll show if they’re on track for retirement, considering inflation and all that. But being an ongoing process, it’s like what you do when you coach clients who are self-employed. It’s an ever-changing thing to make certain that you’re on track. And then once you are on track, you can spend time with sons and daughters and grandchildren about what you’d like them to
SPEAKER 07 :
to uh to learn from you not just financial but about life yeah and i think to your point that’s a it’s a well-rounded approach especially when we’re talking to the next generations plural and my my advice to those that can give out the advice do it in such a way that folks will be responsive use examples and things that would actually get people to understand what you’re trying to tell them and then of course those of you that have the ability to have that advice al Take it. I mean, free advice is just that. It’s free. You’re not paying for it. And in a lot of cases, Alan, I’ve learned this over the years, sometimes that’s the best advice you’ll get.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, absolutely. And there’s the expression, it’s good to learn from your mistakes. It’s even better to learn from other people’s mistakes.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yep. I know coaching clients, I give them examples of stupid things that – mistakes I have made over the years, Al, where it’s like, I don’t want you to make the same mistakes, so let’s do this. And the same thing can be true of, in this case, parents or – Al, it could even be parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles. I mean, it could be anybody you’re close to, mentors even. And for me personally, I have gained so much knowledge, respect, value, I guess I should say, Al, in learning from people. Others, not just my parents, but other mentors and folks that have been around me, sometimes even younger than me, not always older than me, something else to keep in mind. Just people in general, if they’ve got good advice, stop, listen, have the ability to even write those things down, Al, and memorize them if you can, you know, take it to heart. And the reality is that’s what makes a difference for us moving forward. And again, especially as conservatives, this should really be big in our wheelhouse. And I’m afraid sometimes it isn’t.
SPEAKER 12 :
I totally agree. I would be willing to bet that you, in working with your clients, you impose, rather impart a lot of wisdom to them, but I bet there are a lot of things you have learned from some of your clients whom you are coaching, some of the things that they have already done to help them. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 07 :
One last thing I want to close with, Al, and this is important, especially as we get into the end of the year. And folks listening to me, please hear me in this. And this is, Al, I think this is very true. I do believe that the reason why a lot of conservative, especially Christians, and I value each and every one of them, and I understand at times where they come from, but we have a faith. And a lot of times we’ll rely on that faith and say, well, you know what? As time goes by, the Lord’s just going to take care of me, and we’re going to be in good shape no matter what. And by the way, I’m not opposed to that, Al. I don’t think there’s anything wrong in saying that. But I also know that God gives us two eyes, two ears, two feet, two hands, wisdom, et cetera. You understand where I’m going with this. And we’re to participate and take part in this. And my fear with a lot of conservatives is they don’t plan ahead financially because of their faith, or in lieu of their faith, I should say. And the reality is, that’s not the way it’s intended to be. We should be looking at those things properly as Christians.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, I totally agree. God has given us skills and tools and so forth so that we can use those to not only help ourselves, but help grow His kingdom.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s exactly right. Al, how do folks get a hold of you, sir?
SPEAKER 12 :

I’ve got one more time with you before the year ends, and I look forward to that as well. But, man, enjoy the rest of your day and the week ahead, and have a happy Thanksgiving, Al.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, you also, John. You have a great day, and say hi to your listeners for me.

SPEAKER 05 :
God. Country. Reason. Now back to John Rush.
SPEAKER 07 :
And we’re back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Thanks for joining us today. I appreciate it. Question of the day from Friday. What is the Earth’s largest living structure? That would be the Great Barrier Reef. Somebody had said aspen trees, although I think it’s one of the largest living organisms, it’s not necessarily a structure where the Great Barrier Reef is, in fact, a structure. So that is your answer to the question of the day from Friday. Today’s impossible question. What pigment… gives plants their green color it should be pretty easy to most people but what pigment gives plants their green color all right on to the show and i appreciate al joining us uh earlier and i appreciate him greatly and everything we talked about please make sure you’re dialed in when it comes to not only yourself your family all of that end of the year brings new things resolutions turn over new leaves all that kind of stuff we’re approaching that so make sure you’re all dialed in now I don’t know how I segue into this one. But speaking of maybe finances, I guess that’s a good way to segue into this one. There’s an article out in the Colorado Sun today, and it’s in several other places. And we have a huge shortfall budget-wise. I’ll talk about that. But prior to talking about that… Polis, our illustrious knucklehead governor, guy is actually smart, but not. That’s typical for folks on the left, by the way. They might have a lot of money, might have made a lot of money, might be really intelligent in certain ways in making money. But when it comes to common sense, yeah, I think in this case, Governor Polis doesn’t have any. And folks, I’m not saying that just because he’s a Marxist lefty. He is a smart guy in certain areas, but doesn’t have the common sense God gave an ant. And I mean that sincerely. He just doesn’t have it. And here’s the case in point. There was an ex-post that was put out, and he and Governor DeSantis of Florida started arguing. And it didn’t end well for Governor Polis, by the way. So Polis claimed that Colorado, because there was an argument on X about marijuana. And in Colorado, we were the leader of medical and then recreational marijuana. I think Charlie, first state in the union to have recreational. Am I right in saying that? I believe Colorado was the first state to do recreational marijuana. Yeah, Charlie says he thinks so as well. I’m pretty sure we are. So Polis, he claimed Colorado’s collected $3 billion in marijuana revenue that has been used to pave roads, build recreation centers and schools, all while successfully cracking down on the underground market. Oh, and we didn’t use $50 million in taxpayer dollars to block access to freedom, but you do you. This is coming out of Complete Colorado, by the way. Polis said in his final jab at Florida governor. This in turn led to a deluge of ex-users slamming Polis, claiming, as well as Colorado, that road conditions are about road conditions. So one ex-poster, and yet the roads are a disaster and your budget is too. Maybe sit this one out, Jared. You collected the money, but it was never used to pave the roads. Rec centers and so much more. Our roads are abysmal. Where did the money go, Governor Polis? I haven’t seen a penny’s worth of improvement from the marijuana tax revenues. Colorado has been in a state of steady decline and decay. DeSantis gets the final word. Responding to Polis with a screenshot of a Denver Post article written in March titled, Colorado backslides to 43rd in National Road Coalition rankings. By the way, 43 out of 50 is where our roads are in Colorado. $3 billion. Over more than a decade, his chump change have cut more than $7 billion in taxes in half that time, but even then, seems like Colorado roads leave a lot to be desired, DeSantis said. By the way, this was an article that was posted on Complete Colorado about that whole exchange between Polis and DeSantis. So, again, this is one of those where Governor Polis didn’t have a lot of common sense and should have never entered into this argument. To claim that we are somehow, as a state, benefiting from marijuana, yeah, Governor Polis, no, we’re not. And if you’ve, in fact, taken that money and spent it on roads and bridges and so on, I’d like to know where. And I think most people living in Colorado would love to know the same. This, by the way, and Andy and I talk about this a lot when it comes to the folks that are running for governor in Colorado, this is a big issue. And one that every candidate right now running for governor should be focused on. Now, Michael Bennett and Phil Weiser won’t be because they’re Democrats. They’re not going to focus on this because they know the marching orders from the left. But those that are on the right, they should be focused on this. And quite frankly, I haven’t seen any of our candidates yet really talk about this. Now, I could be wrong. Maybe they have, and I’ve missed it. And it’s early, so I’m not belittling any of the candidates that are on our side. Andy just sent me a text, by the way, and basically says our roads are like Gaza. Yeah, they are. And they keep getting worse because we’re not funding them like we should be because we have a shortage in the budget already. And Democrats love spending money on stuff that doesn’t matter. Folks, when I say that, I mean that sincerely. They love spending money on things that don’t matter. Now, remember, folks. And I’m not wrong in saying this. And if you’re on the left and you want to prove me wrong, lines are open, 303-477-5600. You guys take the Marxist approach to money. Let’s overspend. Let’s overtax. Let’s break those that are actually out there opposing us, and then we win. That’s the mantra of the Marxist left, folks. I just summed it up. If you’re on the left and you want to say otherwise, let me know. Lines are open, 303-477-5600. You can text me as well, 307-200-8222. You won’t because I’m right. This is the marching orders from the left. Break those that oppose us, financially speaking, and then we win. And the minions, by the way, they’ll buy into this because they want everybody that is so-called, quote-unquote, rich to be broken. Now, by the way, it never works that way. The Marxists will try to do that, but it typically doesn’t work out that way. They want it to work out that way, but it won’t. So this is a great example. And by the way, we still have a $1 billion shortfall, and that cycle is going to continue. Part of that because of the rising costs of Medicaid and the fact that as a state, we feel the need to continue to supplement that, which we will. In some cases, we don’t have a choice, although I think we always have a choice. It’s just a matter of how we structure things as a state. But again, we’re going to continue to lose on that end of things. So, by the way, somebody just said that great call, Andy. Yes, it is, and I won’t tell you why, but yeah, it is a great call. This is a Jew-hater, by the way, that texted this in. So, anyways. By the way, you Jew-haters, you come out of the woodwork constantly, don’t you? I’m not sure why, but you just do. Anyways, I don’t know why so many of you out there are such Jew-haters. I know Andy and I talk about that a lot, but why? Why are you such Jew-haters? especially from folks that consider themselves to be conservatives and probably Christians on top of that. Why are you such Jew haters? I know we talk about this a lot, and Andy and I have gotten into this in the past several weeks, but I don’t get where that comes from. So regardless, Polis is a dodo head, especially when it comes to trying to argue with Governor DeSantis on things like money and budgets and marijuana. And by the way, where this all started from is I think Florida is looking at once again legalizing marijuana, and I think they’re going to vote on it again. And even some taxpayers and voters there are saying, wait a minute, didn’t we already do this? And yes, they did. And just… Any other state, by the way, wanting to do this, don’t. I will tell you that I think it’s been one of the biggest knucklehead moves we’ve made in Colorado ever. Should have never done it. We did go down that path, and we shouldn’t have. So at the end of the day, my recommendation to states like Florida, don’t do it. It’s not worth it. Everybody thinks it’s a big, big thing and it’s a big plus, but really it’s not at the end of the day. All right. What is not a knucklehead move is going to see Dr. Scott when it comes to your medical needs. your doctor needs. In other words, let Dr. Scott work with you to make your life better health-wise and get rid of crisis care at the same time. His number, 303-663-6990.
SPEAKER 02 :
What if you could get over 110 lab biomarkers tested, just like Dr. Mark Hyman advertises, but for a fraction of the cost, and with a doctor who actually explains the results? At Castle Rock Regenerative Health, Dr. Scott Faulkner has recreated this powerful biomarker test panel at a substantial savings. For the month of November, we have a special price for both men and women. Just $689. That’s a savings of over $2,500 over the standard price. And here’s the difference. With Hyman, you get numbers on a page. With Castle Rock Regenerative Health, you get Dr. Faulkner and his team walking you through every result, showing what’s off and creating a personalized plan to fix it. What’s even better, you don’t even have to be a concierge patient to get this pricing. This is open to everyone. Think about it. Most people’s deductible is higher than this special price. And your regular doctor, if he could get approved by your insurance, would never order this many tests, let alone know what to do with them. Call 303-663-6990 today or visit CastleRockRegenerativeHealth.com. That’s 303-669-6990. Take control of your health at Castle Rock Regenerative Health.
SPEAKER 07 :
All right, Michael Bailey, he is our mobile estate planner. Now, I know Michael’s really busy. The chances of you getting an appointment prior to the end of the year, probably not going to happen. So give Michael a call, though. Get on his docket for the first of next year. And you can do that by going to klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 01 :
You’ll be so thankful that the mobile estate planner, Michael Bailey, keeps you awake long enough to actually finish your estate plan. That’s because he makes wills, trusts, and powers of attorney almost fun. Yeah, we said almost. Because let’s be honest, talking about what happens after you die is not on your bucket list. But Michael’s sense of humor somehow makes it easier. He’s like that friend who makes an IRS audit sound like it was just no big deal. And most clients leave relieved. And while the DIY guys online make you fill out forms until you go crazy and start googling, what happens when I die without an estate plan? We’ll see you next time.
SPEAKER 05 :
The best export we have is common sense. You’re listening to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 07 :
All right. Back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. My wife just sent me this. She must be on some of the local community pages of Facebook and things like that because she just sent me from the Broomfield… county community page that an ice trucks have been seen someone I know saw three ice trucks in Broomfield they don’t know the exact location I’m unable to get a hold of them right now but it would have been close to the area in red that’s been circled here and I won’t tell you where that’s at because I’m not playing that game I’m saying this just because again my wife sending me this and then actually in part of the responses to this is you can report ice sightings to Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition They have a tip line and a confirmed, this is their writing, not mine, and confirmless, which that’s not a word, that it will go to this site. Their number is, I’m not giving that out either. These, again, are un-Americans, by the way. Non-Americans. I don’t know how else to say this. People that don’t believe in America. And by the way, there’s a lot of other posts on here. Thanks for you. Thanks to you for alerting people, blah, blah, blah. What a bunch of crap. Sorry, I have no other way to say it. Total BS. You people that are posting this, you’re un-American. Through and through. Well, you’re communist, Marxist, leftist, like I was talking about earlier, so that’s who you are. You’re not listening, I know, because you don’t listen to this program, but what a bunch of knuckleheads. Literally, between you people and the Jew haters, you ought to get together, by the way, because you’re both about as un-American as it gets, in my opinion. So you guys ought to both be on the same team. You’re not, but you ought to be. Start my Monday off right, guys. What else can I say? Let’s go ahead and fight with the Jew haters and fight with the anti-ice people all at the same time. You’re both in the same camp, so have fun. You guys all know how to just get my blood boiling, don’t you? I guess it’s part of being on radio. What else can I say? I throw it out there, and this is the response that I get. So it is what it is. You know, here’s the bottom line. Knuckleheads exist everywhere on both sides of the aisle. Both exist on both sides of the aisle. Unbelievable. I didn’t want to go down this path today because I thought I’d have a week prior to going into the holidays that I wouldn’t have to discuss this, but it just goes without saying. There are extremists on all sides, including the right, and I get the pleasure of dealing with all of them. So, anyways, those of you that think that Gaza is – here’s a question I have for those of you that think Gaza’s great and Israel’s the evil one. Why don’t you move there? I’m being really serious. Why don’t you move there? It would help all of us out, probably yourself included. You might actually see straight up what’s going on, but, you know, be my guest. Move there. I’ll buy you the one-way plane ticket if you’d like. Go for it. Move in. You really get to see firsthand how things are if you do that. Those of you that have this whole pie in the sky, you know, Israel’s bad, Jews are bad, Gaza’s good, move there. Enjoy it. Have fun. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. But I know, I digress, but I have to run with what I get texted at times, so And I thought Polis was the only knucklehead out there. He’s not. We have him on our side as well. Yeah, and I get it. He’s a real knucklehead, but we have him on our side. We really do. Okay. Speaking of knuckleheads, I talked about this last week. Had lots of responses from those of you that listen on a regular basis. So I thought, what the heck, I’ll throw this back out there again. With the opening of the government, this is a headline, by the way, coming out of Apple News from Politico. This headline reads, Food stamps are back, but millions will soon lose benefits permanently. Even though the government shutdown is over, the GOP’s signature tax and spending law, see, this is coming from Politico, is poised to kick people out of the nation’s largest anti-hunger program. Oh, wow. I’m so sorry. 42 million people on Snap. Ridiculous in the first place. I’ve said that openly. I’ll continue to say that. We shouldn’t have over 10% of Americans on Snap. Something wrong there. Something wrong there. I don’t know what, but something. And my point is it makes it too easy. We’ve made it too easy. That’s probably what I, and I’ve talked about this in the past, talked about it last week. Several of you chimed in on that, either on the text line or calling in, and you can do that now, 303-477-5600. Let me read to you some of this article. Millions of Americans greeted the end of the government shutdown and the resumption of food stamp benefits with relief, but others are learning they could soon lose federal food aid permanently. I’m not shedding a tear, let me say that. Not shedding a tear. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rawlins directed the USDA staff during the record-setting 43-day shutdown to continue ushering states towards compliance with Republicans’ signature tax and spending law, which is projected to kick millions out of the nation’s largest anti-hunger program in the next few months. I love how the left labels some of these things. The anti-hunger program. How about the misused and abused SNAP is what we really should call it. Misused and abused welfare program. Let’s call it what it is. And it is misused and abused, folks. There’s not near enough checks and balances in it. We talked about this to a large extent last week. Going to talk about it again because of articles like this. And again, the left will label these things any way they can to, you know, touch at your soft spot to make you feel sorry for these people that are on it. Now, as I said last week, and I mean this sincerely, there are some people that need this. I will not deny that. In fact, and I said this last week, I’ll go one step further. There’s folks that truly need this that don’t know how to game the system like some that are in it right now that, frankly, should be getting more than they get, but they don’t know how to game the system like others do, so they don’t. And I mean that sincerely. There are people out there that genuinely need help, people that are disabled, people that have other issues. They’ve got mental illnesses. They’ve got physical ramifications in wheelchairs, things like that. They genuinely need help. And they’re not there because of anything they’ve done on their own. Something’s happened and they’re there, but they’re not getting the help that some others get that shouldn’t be on it in the first place. So those changes, continuing on with this article. combined with other provisions in the new law, will represent the most significant cuts to the social safety net in decades. And it all comes as low-income families are confronting stagnating wages that aren’t keeping up with skyrocketing cost of living, an issue that some Republicans blamed for the losses in an off-year election this last month. Okay. Again, they’re getting political about something they shouldn’t be. Now, I might as well get on my soapbox. I do this from time to time, and I might as well do it now. You guys all know my thoughts on people that struggle, work, and so on. And this is not for me to get here and boast because that’s not what this is about. But I know how many hours in a week there are. I’ve done the math. I’m not going to do it now. I’m not going to be that elementary about things. But you guys all can do the math and figure out out of 24 hours in a day, people need to sleep seven to eight hours. No, you don’t need to sleep 10 or 12. I live on five or six. I know I’m unique, but you can get by with less than eight. But let’s just say you get eight hours of sleep. You guys do the math. And by the way, I only include six days a week. I always take Sundays in these approaches that I take, doing the math with, I only do six days a week. I do think everybody should get at least one day a week off. Part of your rest, rehabilitation, worship, whatever you do. So I don’t use seven days a week. I use six. I’ve also said for years, and I will continue to say so, this whole idea that we should only work five days a week is utter nonsense. That started with Henry Ford. You have him to either thank or blame for that. He started the 40-hour work week. That was a Henry Ford signature move that he made on the assembly line to try to attract more workers, and then it stuck. And it even became federalized where anything over 40 hours a week is overtime, or 8 hours or 10 hours a day, 40 hours a week is overtime. That’s what Henry Ford did. No one else, just Henry Ford. Now, I don’t normally throw the Christian sides of things or the spiritual things into things, but I will in this case because even Christians get off base on this. I don’t see anywhere in Scripture that says you get two days off each week. If I’m wrong, somebody please send me the Scripture verse that points that out. But everything I’ve read, God himself worked six days and rested the seventh. He didn’t need to rest. God didn’t need that. He did that to show us we did. Yes, I’m a person that believes literally that God created the… earth and the heavens and so on, man, all of that in six literal days rested on the seventh. He gave us time in doing so. That’s a whole other discussion deep I won’t get into, but he established time by doing that, seven days in a week and so on. So nowhere in Scripture does it say you work five days and get two days to play. So going back to this whole people are struggling and so on and so forth, then work more. Guys, I’m sorry. I know that sounds really harsh, but work more. This isn’t rocket science. If you’re struggling to make ends meet, how many hours a week do you put in? And unless you’re putting in 70 or 80 hours a week, I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want you sniveling and whining and crying. I’m sorry. There’s no sympathy coming from me. And part of that is because you guys all know me. You know how many hours a week I put in. You know what I do. And yes, I enjoy what I do. And I don’t do it because I have to. I do it because I want to. But I also do it because, you know what? That’s what it takes. If you’re going to move ahead in this world, that’s what you have to do. Very few people can move ahead by working 35, 40 hours a week. And it’s not even biblical. The 40-hour work week has nothing to do with the Bible. Zero. It’s Henry Ford. He was not of the Bible, by the way. In fact, he was one of the biggest jerks on the planet, to be quite honest with you. He was anti-Semitic. By the way, you Jew haters would love Henry Ford. You guys could go have dinner together. You’re both kind of similar. You’re no different that way. You both agree the same way. Because that was Henry Ford, very much an anti-Jew, but yet his bookkeeper was a Jew. Go figure. You talk about a hypocrite, that was Henry Ford. Not getting off on the wrong foot with Henry Ford because that’s not the program for it. Being the car guy that Henry Ford was, he did a lot of great things. But he was a jerk. But he established a 40-hour work week. No one else did that. He did. And no, he wasn’t a solid Christian man by any stretch of the imagination. Bottom line, this whole idea that you can work 35 hours and then whine about how you can’t make ends meet, go get two of those jobs. Go put 70 hours a week in because it’s easy to do. It’s not that hard. And by the way, you get plenty of free time. I have plenty of free time. You know, I work hard and enjoy my free time. And I get a lot done in my free time. So this isn’t rocket science, folks. If you’re struggling to get ahead, then work more. And this whole excuse of, well, there’s not enough jobs. Guys, I see want to add signs everywhere. So that’s not true either. It’s a matter of what do you want to do. So this goes on to talk about the SNAP program provides an average of $6 a day for 42 million people, which is what I had said earlier, roughly 40% of whom are children. Okay, I get it. The kids, it’s not their fault that their parents are in knuckleheads and are on SNAP. I understand that. The new law, parents and older Americans will be required to meet stricter work requirements. Thank God. Amen. And states eventually have to share in the cost of SNAP benefits, which could force further program cuts. Fine. Tens of thousands of legal immigrants will also have access to the program under the law. By the way, keyword legal. If you’re here illegally, you shouldn’t get a part of this. You haven’t bought in. You’re not here legally. You shouldn’t get a part of this. If you’re here legally, fine. So I think what’s happened here is this is you can blame the Democrats for this. For every action, there’s a reaction. That’s a law of life. So the action was Democrats were going to shut government down, and they did for 42 days. Was it 42 or 43?
SPEAKER 1 :
43.
SPEAKER 07 :
Sorry, 43 days. The reaction was we learned there were 42 million people on SNAP, which – If the Democrats had looked at that correctly, they probably should have rethought that and said, yeah, I don’t think we really need that number being thrown around. Now, they thought that was a good thing. They’re mistaken, though, because that middle-of-the-road voter that works really hard trying to irk out a living and yet knows there’s people out there that are literally on government dole for nothing and are doing nothing to get it, they got mad. And now the program is getting some revamping done, which it should have had done long ago, by the way. States have now started notifying participants that they will be subject to new tighter work requirements, setting up a three-month cut down for people to comply or lose their benefits entirely. Good. They should be. Now, as I’ve said, there’s one thing to let people go hungry because of a real solid need. But just to give people food to give them food because they’re not willing to go out and pull their own weight, well, to me, that’s a slap in the face to a positive taxpayer like the majority of you all listening are. John, you’re next.
SPEAKER 15 :
Hey, John. You were talking about get a second job. Just a story. We bought our first house in New Jersey. I would have had to ride a commuter bus and pay for that. So I got a job with the bus company, and I drove the commuter bus. to the city, let the passengers off, parked it, and then went to my full-time job and did the same thing on the way home. So instead of paying to commute, I got paid to go to work. So if there, and there was a lot of guys that were doing it, it was, you know, extra money, plus you were saving a bunch of money because you weren’t paying to commute. But the point is, if you want to work, there’s plenty of work out there. And the other thing is, I knew somebody that was on food stamps back in the 80s. And she used to take them to a local establishment and he would give her 50 cents on the dollar cash. That’s when they had the food stamp coupons. Selling them off. Yep. And then that person would use that for drugs. So it’s happening now today. I mean, you just look at it, somebody goes into like say, at Costco and buys a whole bunch of stuff that you know they can’t eat, all they’re doing is reselling that to, you know, like if they got, say, 10 boxes of the little snack-sized bag of chips, what’s to say they’re not selling that to some guy that owns a small, like, deli or something that he’s selling them, you know? Good question. He’s selling them, you know. Great question. So it’s happening all the time. And I agree with Secretary Rollins. She said she’s going to make everybody reapply for SNAP because they found so much fraud during the outage.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and that’s what I was saying earlier, John. That’s the backfire the Democrats weren’t thinking of.
SPEAKER 15 :
No, they don’t look at sometimes the unintended consequences, but we don’t either. But as for the other subject that got you really cranked up today, how can a Christian be a Jew-hater… when Jesus was a Jew.
SPEAKER 07 :
John, I wonder that same thing myself all the time. And the answer they’re going to come back with is, well, because it’s not the same, and Scripture says this and this, that, and the other, and they make up all sorts of excuses to fit their narrative, and they are excuses because if they really read the Bible, they’re wrong in what they’re talking about, and not one of them yet has been able to challenge me scripturally on the things that I’ve said, which I also find very interesting, John. But at the end of the day, they’re just wrong. They’re just flat-out wrong.
SPEAKER 15 :
They’re wrong, and… They are going out of their way. But they’re the same ones that call us Nazis. They hate the Jews, but they call us Nazis for being on the right.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, what’s interesting is in some cases they’re on the right. Well, I use that term loosely, John, because I don’t really feel like they’re true conservatives, but they’ll claim to be. But they have a warped view of what the conservative movement actually is.
SPEAKER 15 :
You know, and that’s a shame. And I don’t know, did you hear your owner’s little monologue at the beginning of the show today?
SPEAKER 07 :
I did not. I was prepping and doing some things I did not get a chance to listen to.
SPEAKER 15 :
He was talking about Congress and how they’re supposed to be elected and then go home and just change subject. But it was on right before you. He talked about 100 senators that were supposed to be there for 12 or 18 years and leave. Well, the biggest mistake our government made was when we amended the Constitution to make senators open to election instead of appointed by the state legislature.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 15 :
Because it would be a lot easier to get a senator out through the state legislature process than it is now to get rid of some of these incumbents that have been there forever.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right. Yeah, I didn’t want to change that subject, but Mr. Crawford brought it up, and I was listening to it on the drive home, so… John, you have a great night.

SPEAKER 05 :
Now back to Rush to Reason on KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 07 :
I got a question from a young person, which I appreciate this question, by the way, that says, you know, I don’t understand why we have to support Jews, and how is it racist when most Jews are right? And I don’t think he’s being racist, by the way. He’s just asking a general question. Well, let me answer the second question first. The Jews are considered a people group, a nationality, if you would. And just like any other people’s group, when you don’t like them because of the fact they’re a part of that people group, you’re a racist. It’s that simple. No different than it would be Asians, blacks, Indians. I can go down the list. And by the way, there’s racism towards whites as well. You see that in some of the people groups I just mentioned. So, in other words, if you’re just part of a group and you hate that person because they’re a part of that group, you’re a racist. I don’t care what their skin color is. That has nothing to do with it. Now, I also… I’ve never said that we support everything everybody in a people group does. I’ve said many, many times I’ve taken examples on numerous occasions of different people groups where somebody in that group are doing things they shouldn’t be doing. And I’m not supporting them. In that way, any way, shape, form, or form. In other words, I’m actually calling them out just like I call our side out all the time on things that we do wrong. So I never would say support a particular group because they’re in a particular group no more than I would say hate a particular person because they’re a part of a particular group. In other words, it’s not blanket one way or the other. I can dislike someone that’s a part of a people group because of the way they behave and the fact that they’re just wrong. And that doesn’t mean I’m a racist because I don’t like what they’re doing. On the same token, I’m not going to hate all of that people group because one knucklehead’s a part of it. I hope I’m making sense here when it comes to, you know, things that I consider to be racist. And I was raised, by the way, and I’m very thankful to my father for this, to not dislike any people group. In fact, growing up, and you guys will relate to this, especially some of you guys that are older, the N-word would get thrown around some. And it’s unfortunately today thrown around by those that are a part of that group, and anybody that uses it outside of the group is now a racist, even though internally they can call each other that all day long. That part I’ve never been able to understand. But as a kid growing up, I can tell you right now, my father, and we never used it, because if we did… We were in deep water with my father. So the N-word was never allowed to be used in our home at all. In fact, we didn’t swear in our house either. So that’s another thing that to this day is not a huge issue for me because my father wouldn’t allow that. You couldn’t use any kind of four-letter word, period. So I never – Charlie, one thing when I’m on air, not listeners, but with me personally, Charlie never even has to look at the dump button. He just knows automatically there’s nothing going to come out of my mouth that shouldn’t, that’s an FCC violation. It’s just not going to happen. It’s just not how I talk. I never have to worry about that because it’s not a part of my language. Now, I know other people that do and so on. You know, teach your own, you do you. It’s whatever. I’m never judging as far as that goes, but it’s just not me. Point being, when it comes to certain things that my father would not allow, that was one of them. And for me, that said a lot because what my dad really was saying is we respect all people and we’re not going to label anybody anything, period. And we’re not going to use a derogatory term for somebody because you don’t know who that person actually is. And that was my dad’s way of teaching me, my brother and sister that we’re not racist. We like all people. And yet there’ll be some people that do things wrong inside of every group. That doesn’t mean the entire group gets labeled in a bad way. Unfortunately, I have listeners that can’t do what I just said. They can’t separate that out. And they have this ideology that every Jew is somehow bad. I just had somebody say they would never do business with a known Jew. And I just said, I’m sorry. Shame on you, by the way, but I’m sorry. And some of you, by the way, giving great examples of the SNAP program and relatives that have worked multiple jobs to actually get ahead and do things and still raise kids and so on. And thank you, by the way, for each and every one of those, because those do mean a lot to me, and I appreciate that. I’ve got a couple of minutes before I go to break. Jennifer, go ahead.
SPEAKER 13 :
First of all, you were just mentioning about the N-word, and people should actually look that up in the dictionary to see what it actually means, because it doesn’t mean what you think it does. Hmm. The other thing, to end on a kind of happy note, you remember when I was telling you about the nothing phone and its silicon carbon battery?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, someone else has joined the club. The OnePlus phone, version 15, which will soon be available in the U.S., is also using the silicon carbon battery.
SPEAKER 07 :
Interesting.
SPEAKER 13 :
And their battery has an output capacity of 7.3 ampere hours.
SPEAKER 07 :
Interesting. I will look that up.
SPEAKER 13 :
And that’s enough to a heavy phone user wouldn’t have to charge it except every other day, and the average phone user would only have to charge it about once every three days.
SPEAKER 07 :
Interesting. Very cool.
SPEAKER 13 :
The only drawback is it has a horrible camera. But the other question I wanted to ask you is, have you heard about these sodium… ion batteries.
SPEAKER 07 :
Been reading a little bit about those, Jennifer. Yes, in fact, I even talked about those, I want to say, I don’t know, a month or so ago. Be interesting to see how that technology moves forward.
SPEAKER 13 :
The rumor is that Tesla is looking at it really, really closely.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, I had read that same thing. And by the way, if that ends up happening, Jennifer, that’s a game changer.
SPEAKER 13 :
Oh, yeah. Yeah, well, you know, they’re all kind of in the same family, you know, along the left side of the periodic table, hydrogen, lithium, potassium, sodium, cesium, and francium. They’re all that kind of family of metal. And if you’ve never heard of francium, it’s because it’s so active you can’t even keep it in a vacuum bottle because it’ll combine with the silicon dioxide. Interesting. Anyway, have a great day.
SPEAKER 07 :
