You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it.
SPEAKER 07 :
There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 12 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 08 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 12 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 02 :
Happy Monday, everybody. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Appreciate y’all joining us. Thanks for a lot of you that came out to the event we had on Saturday, the Red Lion Car Show over at Loprino Foods. Met a lot of you that say you not only listen on the weekends, but listen during the week as well. And that’s always fun to meet people, put… Faces with names and voices and so on. And it’s always a great time to be out. We’ll be out again this coming Saturday, by the way, up at the Rocky Mountain Airport. For a lot of you that have been here for a long time, the old Jeffco, they used to call it the same airport. It used to be called the Jeffco Airport. Now it’s Rocky Mountain Regional Airport. up in Broomfield. And we’ll be out there just like we were this last weekend. So if you didn’t get a chance to come out last weekend, come out this next weekend. And on Saturday, we’ll be there live, of course, on air from 9 to 1. And again, it’s always great to just see people. And I’ve said this on Saturday, and I mean this sincerely. We have literally, I feel, the best bunch of listeners anywhere. I know probably a lot of radio shows would say that, although I can tell you this much. I don’t think most radio shows have the type and quality of individuals listening that we do. We really do have a bunch of really good, solid people that are just smart, wise, kind, all of that. And I mean that. So thank you all. I mean that sincerely. Thank you all for listening. Even those I didn’t get a chance to meet, I mean that. And I appreciate each and every one of you and what you do. for us here and as i also said on saturday and i mean this during the week as well for those of you that thank me a lot of you came up to me personally on saturday and thanked me for doing you know what we do here and i immediately said don’t thank me and i pointed right to you know paul from gia and steve horvath from genos and i said literally these are the guys you should be thanking it’s because of them that I’m able to do what I do on a daily basis, and I mean that above all. I really do. So for those of you that really enjoy what you hear each day, I cannot stress enough, use the people that pay to make this happen on a regular basis. All of our sponsors that are listed, I should say, across all four of my shows, they are the ones, a lot of them are on all shows. which I greatly appreciate. I appreciate every sponsor we have. But I mean that sincerely. If you like what we do here, really thank them because they’re the reasons that we get to do what we do here each and every day. Myself and Charlie, we are very blessed and thankful to them that we’re able to be here. So I mean that. Give them a thank you if you really enjoy what you hear. So Friday’s question of the day, a new survey. revealed that more than half of adults are dealing with fosi f-o-s-y what is fosi it is the fear of saying yes turns out that saying yes is just as hard uh it for some it’s really hard i should say according to a new survey more than half of adults are dealing with fosi or the fear of saying yes i i don’t that one i don’t understand i don’t know i’m not a psychologist i don’t understand the psyche of individuals at times in fact My wife will tell you that that’s probably one of the biggest struggles that I have, period, is trying to understand why certain people think the way they do because my brain just – I can’t – my brain doesn’t wrap around that at times. It just doesn’t. Yeah. Not that I’m any better than anybody else. I just have a hard time understanding why certain people do certain things and do it in the way that they do. So in this case, I don’t know why you would have the fear of saying yes. Either you say yes or no. You need to evaluate what it is you’re going to be doing and whether or not that fits into who you are and what you can do and what your capabilities are and so on. It depends on who’s asking, of course, if you’re a professional. child and your parent says something, then you better say yes. If you’re an employee and your boss says something, you probably should say yes. Now, if you’re a volunteer and somebody is asking you to do something, yeah, that one, you know, that one just depends. Depends on what’s going on or whether you can work that into your schedule. There’s a balance there that needs to happen. And I know a lot of volunteer organizations, and it’s no fault of their own. It’s just the way things work. But they can worry you out if you let them. So you have to be in control of that. Now, when it comes to husband, wives, partners, things like that, do you always say yes? You probably should. But there are times where you might have to look back and say, well, you know, That’s not really going to work right now. You know, we maybe, we as a family can’t even. Anyways, fear of saying yes is what Fossey means. I guess I could talk more about that on a health and wellness maybe because it’s more of a psychological question. Today’s impossible question of the day. Mark Twain’s book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, was greatly influenced by a book published in 1605. Name that book. Do you know the answer to this one, Charlie, by chance? So Huckleberry Finn. was influenced by a book published in 1605. Name the book. All right, we’re going to take a quick timeout. We’re going to come back. Of course, there’s big news that happened over the weekend. We’ll get into that here in just one moment. In the meantime, Roof Savers of Colorado, I talked to Dave Hart today, by the way. He’s busy, not too busy, though, to come out and take care of whatever needs you have on your roof. And those of you that have been putting some things off with your roof, and I’m sure some of you have been waiting until you think all the storms are over and let me get through all of this right now. No sense putting on a new roof or doing anything to the roof and maybe having a risk of that being damaged. I think that risk is getting… at least here in Colorado. I know there’s a big hail storm up in Nebraska over the weekend, but I think for us here in Colorado, we might be safe. I always say might because, you know, folks, we can get hail in September. So there’s never a guarantee that we’re not going to have more weather, but leaving your roof unrepaired is not a smart thing to do. So get Dave out, get that taken care of. If you need a replacement, he can do that as well. And don’t forget, he can extend the life of your roof also through the RoofMax product. 303-710-6916 is who you call.

All right, Mile High Coin. And if you’ve had a collection of whatever kicking around for X amount of times, and sometimes those go years and years and years, and you sort of, you know, what’s the old saying? Out of sight, out of mind. If you’re not looking at it every day, you might have it in a safe deposit box. You might have it in a safe at home. Whatever the case, you may not even realize what you have, what the value is, and that you may want to turn that into cash. Let David Gonzalez at Mile High Coin help you with all of those decisions. KLZ listeners, Rush to Reason listeners, get a free appraisal. So you have to just call them up, set an appointment, get an appraisal done. And then from there, you can determine what do you want to do with your collection. Maybe you want to keep some of it. Maybe you want to sell some of it. Maybe you want to sell all of it. Whatever the case, he can help you with all of that. Just call him at 720-370-3400.
SPEAKER 01 :
David Gonzalez here, owner of Mile High Coin. I understand how intimidating it can be to value or liquidate a collection, especially if it was inherited. Maybe you’re just downsizing and trying to clear out some space. I’ve been in the precious metals industry for over 36 years, and in that time I’ve worked with just about every kind of person and situation you can imagine. At Mile High Coin, our goal is to educate and guide you so you walk away feeling confident and satisfied with the outcome. We help you understand the real value of what you own. We make the whole process simple and stress-free. Whether it’s jewelry, coins, high-end watches, we’re your local accredited resource for accurate evaluations and honest appraisals. God Country Reason Now back to John Rush.
SPEAKER 02 :
And we are back again. Happy Monday. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Hot one out there, so make sure that you’re not leaving any kids or pets in the car. I was reading an article right before coming on air that there was an individual that is now most likely in big trouble because he went to an adult store and left two of his kids in the car for an hour while he was inside shopping. And, yeah, he’s in big trouble. Don’t do that, people. I know my listeners are smart enough to not do that, but this includes even pets, even cracking the window. You just can’t do those things when it’s this hot outside. It gets so hot inside the car, and, of course, you can’t leave the car running, and there’s really very few ways, if any, to do that and do that safe where somebody’s not going to steal your vehicle. So, again, at the end of the day, just don’t do that. Figure out other things. Take them inside with you. Don’t take them at all outside. Plan your day around that, whatever the case. But, yeah, don’t leave anything in the car, pets or kids, of course. But on top of that, as I was just saying those things, I was thinking there’s other items that you also – we talk about this in health and wellness on Wednesdays, but I’m going to throw it in right now. Don’t drink out of a water bottle. that you leave inside of a hot car all day long, and then maybe it’s even cooler at night or it’s cooler the next morning and you want to drink out of that. They say that is one of the worst things you can do, the microplastics that go from the hot bottle into the water. Paul, our water guy that’s here with Scott on a routine basis, Scott Watley will tell you the exact same thing. Do not drink out of those water bottles, you know, regular just water bottles you get, you know, by case at a time or even a single bottle. do not buy that leave it in the car let it get hot and then drink out of that bottle that is just nothing and these hot days remind me of that we can have really hot days by the way get hot inside of the car even during the winter months but especially today it is blazing hot right now it is sitting at 97 degrees meaning the internal temperatures of the car will be 150 160 degrees plus so be very careful in that and don’t do those things so over the weekend Big news came out yesterday. The Trump-EU trade deal, pretty much done. I think they’ve got to get a few little things ironed out. But for the most part, it’s a done deal. They made the announcement yesterday. And I want to read to you from, I figured, of all sources, let’s go to the BBC, which is the, basically, it’s the NPR of Britain. That’s probably the best way for me. That’s right, Charlie. That’s probably the best way for me to say that. Maybe a little bit higher end than NPR, but essentially that’s what it is. And I thought I would read to you some of what they’re saying. And I do this all the time. Joe talks about this also where he reads a lot of what’s going on on the left. By the way, I didn’t go at first to Fox News, for example, to read what the trade deal was like. I went to some of the other left-leaning organizations to see what they said because I figured – i would hear from them as to you know what they feel and i’ll talk about some of that so i’m going to go through some of this on the bbc so they’ve got this sort of titled in paragraphs their first thing they say is trump’s the winner after promising new trade deals with dozens of countries trump has just landed the biggest of them all it looks to most commentators that the eu has given up more with instant analysis by capital economics suggesting a half Point, knock to GDP. There will also be tens of billions of dollars pouring into the U.S. coffers because, yes, really quick, part of the deal that Trump made, make sure I’ve got this right in my notes, part of the deal that he made is the EU would buy, I should say pay or buy, $750 billion of American energy products over 30%. three years, just three years, and invest another $600 billion back into the U.S. So, folks, that is what, $1.35 trillion. And as I talked about with Scott Garlis, we did this this past Wednesday, the reciprocal of that is, And all of the other ancillary things that come out of that, that’s not the only number that you need to look at. You can use at least a two, if not a four-time multiplier to that dollar amount in all of the other things that we as a country will benefit from. Keep in mind also, this is another thing that’s really interesting. Currently, the EU buys a lot of their liquefied natural gas from no other than Russia. This commitment, they’re now not going to be buying that from Russia any longer. They’re going to be buying it from us. So again, this is a big deal. And so for the BBC to come out and somewhat be critical on that end of things, they should be happy they’re buying it from a free country that doesn’t enslave others. like what Russia is doing with Ukraine. Because that’s ultimately what Russia wants, and this is what the EU doesn’t understand, maybe they do, but Russia would like to own all of what it had at one time and get it back. That is Putin’s biggest goal here, and that’s why he’s fighting Ukraine, is he wants it all back. He wants it to be like the old USSR. He is from that era, and that’s what he wants to have happen. Next, their next headline, U.S. Consumers the Loser. Now, when I first read that, I didn’t even read the text underneath it. I just thought, yeah, this is BBC. Of course it is. Ordinary Americans are already aggrieved of the increased cost of living, and this deal could add to the burden by hiking prices on U.S. goods. So I just thought, okay, hang on a second here, because 15% is the overall deal that Trump made. There is some items excluded, but that 15% will be pretty much across the board. So I thought, okay, since this article is talking about how much more we’re all going to be paying for things here in the U.S., let’s find out exactly what it is we import from. The EU. Now, for a lot of you, you know right off the bat, you know, some people, not all, but some people buy German-made vehicles. Some people love them. They’re BMWs. They’re Audis. You know, those are German, of course. Porsche. On top of that, though, keep in mind that out of the EU, there’s other vehicles that are made that we also buy. They’re not all high-end luxury vehicles. For example, Stellantis, which is the parent company of Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and so on, their headquarters is over there in the EU as well. Now, what will happen with their cars coming in here? Time will tell. It may force them to produce some vehicles back on our soil versus the way they’re currently doing it. That’ll be interesting to see how they do that. Some of the vehicles that you see today, their platform is, you know, the platform for said vehicle, the Dodge Hornet, for example, that’s actually a Fiat. It’s labeled as a Dodge, but that’s actually a Fiat product. So it’ll be interesting to see how some of that works. But I thought, let’s look and see what products outside of some cars, which you guys all know this, you don’t have to buy a German car. You don’t have to buy a car that’s imported to the U.S. Some prefer to, but you don’t have to. There are plenty of other vehicles made here in America that won’t be tariffed, that you have the ability to buy that will get you from A to B all day long. And some would say, John, how do you know that? Because I own them. And they get me from A to B just fine. So, again, that’s always one that always cracks me up because it’s like, yeah, you don’t have to buy – I mean, if you want to buy a German car, that’s fine. Now, here’s my prediction on that. Most people buying German cars, the expensive cars – If they up them another 15% and they don’t absorb anything, which I believe they will, but let’s say they don’t absorb anything and they just pass the full 15% on, do you think people are still going to buy German cars? Yes. Not going to change a thing for them, by the way. And by the way, those people that are buying those cars, they don’t even know what inflation is. I mean that sincerely. They don’t know what inflation is. In fact, I’ll go as far as to say that some of the people – that are buying those cars are making more money when inflation is up than when it’s down. So they don’t care at all. I’m sorry. This is in this BBC article, and again, that’s a non-issue. So other items we import from the EU, pharmaceuticals, which that’s one of the things I think they’re working on still is the deal on pharmaceuticals and what are they actually going to be tariffed at, and that might be a lesser rate. than the full 15%. Some machinery comes from the EU. But once again, let me also remind people of that. And this is true for those of us that are business owners. Typically, if you’re buying a piece of machinery that’s coming out of the EU, you typically know you’re going to pay a higher price for it anyways. There typically is other counterparts, other types of machines you can buy from around the world. You choose to buy it there because of typically quality and things along those lines. I’ll never take anything away from the German quality. I’ll never do that. It might be over-engineered, but it’s always good quality. So, yes, there might be some machinery things that have a higher price. But, again, that’s something that, frankly, if it’s a 15% increase and you factor that over the lifespan of the machine, again, it’s a non-issue at the end of the day. We also get some machinery. I said machinery. We also get some vehicles and electrical equipment. Now, machinery also. Yes, we do get some farm equipment, things like that. Some of that can come out of the EU, although I will tell you there’s, again, ask any farmer, there’s other sources of machinery besides getting it from the EU. And then there’s some electrical equipment. I didn’t get into the details of what that electrical equipment means. Most, as you guys all know, most electrical equipment doesn’t come from the EU. It’s coming from places like Taiwan and China and even out of Japan and other places like that. So bottom line, as a whole, all of the EU, yes, if you combine all of those countries together, there’s quite a bit that we import into the U.S., On the same token, and this is something else you’ll read, it’ll talk about how the EU is only second to the U.S. as far as their buying power and so on. Now, that’s true that they are, although they’re a distant second. They’re not even close to what the U.S. buys per capita at all. So they’ll brag about how they’re this powerhouse of buyers and so on. In reality, no, they’re not. And even this particular deal, they’re still fighting with right now France to get this deal completely done because some of the countries like France are balking at the deal that was made because it’s France. By the way, they should be lucky we did what we did for them back in World War II and signed the deal. That’s my opinion. France wouldn’t exist today without us at all. So they all have, I guess, short memories, you could say, because the reality, Germany would have taken over all of that had we not helped them out back then. It’ll be interesting to see how that turns out. But let me continue on because I think this is really, really funny when you start reading through all this. It talks about the U.S. consumers in the BBC article I’m reading to you. It talks about U.S. consumers being the loser that basically out of the $100 product imported to the U.S., it’ll cost $15 more, blah, blah, blah. And by the way, that’s not totally true. Because what a lot of these companies will do and have done is they will look at what is the market bear, what will the market bear for that particular product, and do we need to figure out a way to cut our costs or cut something out of that or even cut a little profit out of that to be able to meet the demand of what’s there, what the market will bear, by the way, so we don’t price ourselves out of the market and not have a sale at all. So that comes into play as well, which, of course, is not in this particular article because it’s either by choice or they’re dumb. Or both. It could be that they’re dumb and then they just choose not to go look and see the things that I just mentioned a moment ago because that doesn’t make for great headlines. The next article or the next part of this article talks about the markets are the winner. They’re talking about how the U.S. will, of course, put the levy of the 15 percent on imported goods from the EU. The markets enjoyed that this morning. I haven’t looked yet to see where they’re at today. But even the foreign markets looked at all of that with high approval and markets were up. European solidarity is the loser. The deal will need to be signed off by all 27 members of the EU, each of which have differing interests and levels of reliance on export of goods to the U.S. While some members have given the agreement a cautious welcome, others have been critical, hinting at divisions within the bloc, which is also trying to respond to other crises such as the ongoing war in Ukraine. That’s the problem you get when you have 27 people at the table. Not my problem, by the way. Not Trump’s problem. When the EU was formed and they decided to do what they did, this is now on them as far as I’m concerned. They’re on their own. They should have, you know, they should get together on this and should have thought about some of this on the front side. But the problem is no one besides Trump. I’ve said this a lot. Andy has said this a lot. No one besides Trump has ever gone up against some of these folks. They have had literally a free ride for decade upon decade upon decade. And I’ve talked about this going back to the vehicles. We only tax their tariff at about 5%. It’s now going to be 15%. Keep in mind, our vehicles going into Germany specifically have been about 30%. Now, they won’t tell you the tariff is 30% because it’s not, but they put on all sorts of other additional taxes and fees that get it up to 30%. So they won’t tell you that it’s that on the front side. But all in all, it is. So, again, the playing field needs to be leveled. We’re the biggest consumer out there. I say that all the time. I mean that. It’s high time we started leveraging that. We finally are. And there’s really – in my opinion here – There’s really no losers. Now, they’re talking about how the carmakers in Germany will be a loser. I just explained all of that a moment ago. I don’t think they’re going to lose anything. I just don’t. I think at the end of the day, they’ll figure out a way around this and they won’t lose anything. Carmakers in the U.S. a winner, they say once again. Potentially. And I talked about that again as we were opening up this particular subject. Maybe. We’ll see. The car end of things and how the market works and so on, that’s always iffy, and it just depends on what the economy is doing and what people have as far as disposable income and cash available and what kind of payments they can make, what the interest rates are doing. And so I will tell you right now that the Fed has more to do with car sales and all of that than probably anybody else does. They talk about how the— EU pharmaceuticals are the loser because if it does turn out to be the 15%, we’ll see how that all works out. And then, of course, U.S. energy is the winner. Now, it did close out by saying aviation industry in the EU and the U.S. both are winners because of the strategic partnership they’re making along those lines. So, again, I look at this as a great deal. Andy and I were texting back and forth last night, and Andy feels like this is a huge win. I’m sure he’ll mention that tomorrow. And it is. I mean, this is a big win, no doubt about it. I mean, is this the biggest win? This is a big one because, again, as I said a moment ago, we buy a lot from the EU. The EU buys a lot from us. We’re good trading partners, always have been. Now, what I’ve been saying, what Andy and I have been talking about is it will be interesting now to see how other countries, including Canada, start to fall in line. If the EU just did this, Canada is going to have to come to the table with something that works or they’re going to be left out in the cold. And we will see how that goes with them. We’ll see in the coming, you know, Trump’s got a deadline of Friday, which is the first, to have all these things pretty well done and spelled out. It’ll be interesting to see what some of these other countries do in the meantime because they’ve got to get going because I don’t think Trump’s going to sit around and wait for them to determine, you know, what they need to do next. They’re going to have to get off the pot, you could say, and get things going because they’ve been dilling around far too long. Yeah. Dr. Scott, coming up next, speaking of pharmaceuticals and all of that, make sure you’ve got a solid doctor on your side that thinks like you do and is looking out for your health and your best interest. All right, you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow or even this evening for that matter. Make sure that you’ve got your estate and its plan all in order. Talk to Michael Bailey today. He’s mobile. He’ll come to you. Find him at klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 06 :
Michael Bailey, the mobile estate planner, has the key to wisely protecting your college-aged kids. Think about it. If your kiddo goes off to college and gets hurt, the hospital won’t let you make decisions for them because at age 18 and above, they are technically an adult. What if they’re unconscious? Will a doctor let you make healthcare decisions for an adult and stay informed about their medical condition? No. Before they’re 18, it’s a given. You can make those decisions. But after 18, there is typically no spouse or someone already approved to legally make those crucial decisions. Michael Bailey can help make short work of a general medical or financial power of attorney for your college goer in one easy appointment. He’s got the experience and knowledge to ensure that whatever happens, you can still be a dedicated parent to your kids. Find him on the klzradio.com advertisers page and protect your kids by getting your power of attorney appointment set up today.
SPEAKER 07 :
The best export we have is common sense. You’re listening to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 02 :
And we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. So Charlie also said that the other country, Britain, the Brexit, that they are saying, wow, isn’t it good we did what we did when we did? Because otherwise we would be stuck with the lesser of the two deals. We got a much better deal. Yeah, they came to the table early on. They got things dialed in. Good for them. Trump acknowledged that. And they came out with a great deal. Not as good a deal as this one. The other thing Charlie was saying during the break is, it was always said that 27 countries aren’t going to come to an agreement on anything. Well, in this particular case, and it’s not a done deal, by the way, just keep that in mind, but I think it will be when it’s all said and done. And yeah, 27 countries, they don’t have a choice. As I keep saying, this is something that I have continued to drill into the head of even the likes of Jordan Goodman, who we have on a monthly basis. We are the largest buyer, the largest consumer of goods anywhere on planet Earth. We are. Most people recognize that, although I think sometimes we don’t get recognized for that because we don’t talk about it that much. And I went through some facts and figures this morning to really see, you know, how much more do we buy than, let’s say, somebody that lives over in Britain. It’s considerably more. On a per capita basis, we spend a lot more than most any other country on stuff. good, bad, or otherwise, on stuff. Cars, appliances, food, technology, cell phones, all stuff. I mean, folks, look at the stuff you own. And this is something that I keep, my wife and I, we keep, my sister as well, we keep bantering around back and forth because I’ve gone through and cleaned up my folks’ estate and so on. And when you start cleaning out stuff that has been collected and accumulated over the course of decades, like my father especially did, but everybody does, my mom included, you just start realizing how much stuff people have. I have vowed, by the way, that I’m going to start minimizing some of mine so I don’t leave that same burden with my kids, and I have a lot of stuff. We all do. I don’t think there’s any – if you’re an American, even – I look at even some of these homeless people. This is – and I’m not trying to make fun of anybody, but as I drive by some of these homeless encampments, I just think to myself, where does all that stuff come from? You’re homeless. You’ve got more crap than you need. That’s the American way. Even our homeless have a lot of crap. It’s what we do in America. And, you know, we’ve talked about this before that, you know, homelessness here, our homeless are far better off than even those that have jobs, income and so on in a lot of third world countries. They have a better life. So reality is, yes, we consume a lot as a country, as individuals that live in this country. Even those that don’t think they have much stuff, they do. And it just – we accumulate it, right, wrong, or otherwise. And that’s a whole other conversation in and of itself. Is it right to own that much stuff? Frankly, folks, to me, that’s a personal choice. And are we spoiled? Yes, we are. No doubt about it. We are spoiled. We have things and we do things that most other countries would love to do. Why do you think people poured across the border for as long as they did while the Democrats had it open? Because where they lived was better than here and they wanted to leave that and come here? Of course not, folks. They came here because it’s better here. we have things here that most countries don’t have the freedoms the freedom to travel about the freedom to communicate the beauty of what we have i mean i can just keep going down the list of what we have as a country that others don’t have just the overall cleanliness even on a bad day when i look you know i’ll drive by and i’ll look at a freeway and think i was telling my wife yesterday we were driving something like look at all that crap on the side of the road who’s going to clean i mean Let’s get that cleaned up. And it was a highway, so I-70, so it’s a CDOT problem. But, of course, we’ve got CDOT burdened with all sorts of other things because we’re worried about building $30 million bridges to nowhere. But anyways, I’m digressing. But even on our dirtiest day. we don’t compare to what a lot of even second-world countries have when it comes to trash and debris and junk that they deal with. We, all in all, as I look out the window here and I look west, we don’t have trash piled up all over the parking lots. There’s pavement everywhere. There’s no dirt roads that I’m looking at. Even in the parking lots, there’s no dirt. The parking lots aren’t full of trash and debris and junk and so on. There’s not stuff running down Havana out here. And I will tell you that You go to even just our country to the south here, go to Mexico, and the streets don’t look like this. Not even close. For those of you that maybe have never been, they don’t look like this. So they do have everything I just mentioned in parking lots, on the main streets, in the medians, on and on we go. Just the trash and the litter that is there doesn’t compare to what we have today. here so even on our worst day and i think it gets bad at times we don’t look like they do so do we have a good place to live all the problems we have sometimes it’s still better than anywhere else so even with our problems speaking of problems y’all you all heard about the you know stabbing at the walmart i believe that was over the weekend in traverse city michigan A guy with a knife stabbed 11 shoppers inside of the Walmart. In fact, he wasn’t caught and subdued until a guy with a gun There were some other people with him, by the way. But until a guy with a gun, they went out in the parking lot, surrounded his vehicle, wouldn’t let him leave. They put shopping carts all around the vehicle, and then they cornered him. But I’m here to tell you, had that individual not had a gun, would that guy have done something else to even those individuals? Chances are high that he would have. It’s because of the good guy with a gun, which nobody in press is talking about, of course. But because the good guy with the gun was there, he stopped that from getting any worse than it could have been. And subduing the guy long enough to where the police came, arrested him, and the rest is history. But, of course, that last part of what I just said, the good guy with the gun, that’s not going to get talked about. So that guy, by the way, he’s a hero. Good for him. And good for the other citizens that ran out of the Walmart chasing the guy down and keeping him in the parking lot so the authorities could come and take care of him. But this also shows that, you know, it’s not just guns. We say it all the time. It’s not the gun. It’s the person behind the gun that’s causing the damage. Same thing here. It’s not the knife. Do we now need knife regulations, knife control? Is that what we need? I don’t hear Democrats today cheering for that. Normally, that’s the first thing that comes out after something like this happens. We need more gun control. We need more of this. We need more of that. I haven’t heard anybody today talk about needing more knife control because it’s ludicrous to say that. Yet they do that when it comes to guns. And as I’ve always said, if we didn’t have the Second Amendment, we wouldn’t have any others. So it’s always the goal of the left to take your gun away. Whatever way, shape, form they can, they want to take it away. I can give more stories on the whole gun control thing. I won’t. But, again, that story that you’re not seeing much of or hearing much of, you’ve got to do a little bit of digging for it, is the fact that it was a good guy with a gun that actually stopped the bad guy with a knife. And had it not been for him, we don’t know what the story would have been like. So thankfully it ended well. The guy with the gun and the other, I want to give them credit as well. I watched the video on it. The other individuals, in fact, I didn’t count. I apologize. I was going to count. I think there were three or four other individuals that were involved with stopping this particular gentleman. But it was literally because the guy was pointing a gun at the bad guy. that he decided to finally stop. And as I’m looking at the video right now, I think there’s one, two, there was about, believe it or not, there was about four other people that went out, men, four other men, that went out and confronted this particular individual. And then, of course, the guy with the gun is really the reason why this guy basically, you know, was subdued and the police finally came and so on. But Hands off, you know, hands off or hats off, I should say, to those other individuals that went out and didn’t leave it up just the guy with the gun, but they all went out together to confront this individual. Good for them. It’s about high time people started doing more of that, by the way. If these would be attackers felt like they would have that kind of resistance, they would probably think twice about doing some of the things that they do. So good for this guy. This is the other thing is I haven’t seen maybe I’ve missed it. If I did, you guys can text me this, but I didn’t see anything where Walmart said anything. Did you, Charlie? Did you see any statements from Walmart where they were either criticizing or praising the guy in the parking lot with a gun? They’ve been pretty much neutral, which, by the way, they should be. They shouldn’t take a side one way or the other. I think I probably – you guys know me. If I was in charge of the corporation, I probably would have said, thankfully, a good guy with a gun put a stop to this. But, again, Walmart’s not going to get political. They’re not going to go down that path. They’re going to stay out of it. I don’t see that as being political. I think that’s just factual. But, yeah, Walmart’s not going to go down that path. But at least they didn’t come out and criticize because, you know, they’ve got a policy where their people can’t chase somebody down the parking lot for shoplifting. So it was interesting in this case where it was all other individuals, other citizens that took matters into their own hands to get this guy stopped. So congratulations to all of them for doing so, and especially the guy with the gun. Good job. All right. As I said a moment ago, 97 degrees. I don’t think we topped 100 today. SPEAKER 02 :
I got a great question that just came in a moment ago on the text line as well, which I haven’t talked much about here of late. And it hasn’t been big in the news, although I think it is still a part of Trump’s whole plan. And we’ll see how this evolves once all the tariff deals are done. And that is, is he still planning on acquiring Canada or Greenland? Well, I can already tell you Canada is. He did all of that just to poke an eye. at Canada that that’s all that was he was not thinking about acquiring you know Canada as an additional state I know he said that but that really was more just to get them you know get their dander up I guess you could say that’s an old term I know but that’s really what he was trying to do is just to just to get them all you know worked up which he did Canadians unfortunately in most cases not all but in most cases are very thin-skinned and you know can’t take a joke I guess you could say can’t take any ribbing which is absolutely ridiculous but that’s just who they are so Can’t say any more about it. That’s just what they are. We’re not going to acquire them as a state. I highly doubt that that’s even being discussed in a serious note. Now, Greenland, I think Greenland’s a whole different scenario, a whole different conversation. I do think. that Donald Trump and a lot of folks even inside of his circle understand the military importance of having all of Greenland, if that could be worked out some way, somehow. Now, before any of you get all riled up, especially those of you on the left, I don’t think we’re going to take it over by force or militarily speaking or anything like that. It’ll be another deal that is made whereby you go in there and talk to them about all of the benefits of joining Greenland. the United States of America, what they would gain out of that, not only from the protection side, but just the economic end of it and so on. And you would go in there and literally buy the country. And some of you would say, well, you know, it’s not that, you know, what’s the benefits of doing so? Folks, literally all this is, it’s like owning Hawaii. It’s totally militarily speaking is the biggest reason for it. And some of you would say, well, what country would we be defending ourself from by owning it? China. China and Russia too, but China is probably the larger of the two because of where it’s positioned. As it is, there are Chinese ships and submarines especially that roll past there on a pretty routine basis already. So owning Greenland and allowing us to have more control over the waters around it and so on is the biggest reason to own it. It’s not. Yeah, there’s oil and things like that there as well. So there’s probably some resources that we would acquire that would be of benefit to us also. But military is the biggest reason, you know, the the defense of our country is the biggest reason to acquire it. And so, yeah, I do think that’s one that Donald Trump and his cohorts are looking at seriously. There’s a lot of pushback, of course, from the left because they think that would be us just overreaching our quote-unquote powers and so on, and it wouldn’t be. If you bought them and did it all the right way, it wouldn’t be overreaching anything. It’s no different than we’ve done in the past. We haven’t done it for quite some time. But it could be done. And I am one that, frankly, I’m in favor of that. For our own national defense, I’m in favor of that. The world is different today than it was even 20, 30 years ago. I’m in favor of it. And I don’t trust China. I don’t trust Russia either, but I don’t trust China. at all those guys will knife us in the back you know they’re the type that’ll come up give you a hug and there’ll be a knife right to your back at the same time i don’t trust them as far as you can throw them so that’s my view of china and i would do everything possible strategically speaking to make sure that we can defend ourselves against them and and be prepared because again i don’t trust them so that’s My feeling, and I don’t have any insight, I have not talked to anybody inside of Donald Trump’s inner circle that is me 100% speculating on things. I have nothing that I’ve ever read or seen, anything along those lines that leads me to believe that one way or the other. I’m just thinking of that on the common sense side of things, reading some of the things I have about how strategic that would be for us as a country. There are those in Greenland, by the way, it’s not all of what the press tells you. I want to make sure I’m clear on that as well. The press will tell you that everybody in Greenland hates that idea. That’s not true. That’s another one that is not true. There are a large percentage of folks who live in Greenland that would love that idea because they understand the benefits of being a part of the U.S. versus the way they are right now, which is really independent. I know it’s under, was it Denmark that’s over them, I believe, Charlie, but it’s It isn’t much, folks. It’s not like they’re a part of Great Britain, let’s just say. they’re pretty much on their own. So the advantages to being a U.S. state would be huge and would be of a huge benefit to them if you could ever get something put together along those lines. By the way, I don’t know that even those people understand what benefits it would be to them. Just think tourism alone. If they became the 51st state, And this is where I read things online and always cracks me up because people think when you go to Hawaii, you need a passport. No, Hawaii is a state. You can travel to Hawaii back and forth just like you can travel to Nebraska back and forth. You don’t have to do anything. Now, given that Hawaii is isolated in its own island, there’s certain vegetation and things you can’t take in and out of, that makes sense because it is an island and it’s pretty protected, and they want to keep it that way. That’s a state law. That’s a state rule that they have. It’s a state law, I should say. And it protects them and their own agricultural and so on. And that makes total sense. You know, if you were them, you wouldn’t do it any differently. So, you know, you might be doing something similar in regard to Greenland if you did something along those lines. But as far as traveling to and from, all you need is your driver’s license to be able to climb on the plane and get there and climb on the plane coming back because everything would be run by the government, state and or federal, just like every other state has done, just like Colorado is. You’d have to elect a governor. They would get seats, two Senate seats, representatives based upon population. You know the drill. All that would be added in. And here’s my gut feeling, by the way, as to why most Democrats hate this idea. Greenland is probably more conservative than what you would think. And I’m guessing that you would probably end up with some conservative seats when it’s all said and done versus the other. That’s probably the other reason why the Democrats don’t want that. That’s my thought process. Again, I’ve not read anything along these lines, folks. That is all my own speculation. But knowing that you only read about a little bit and believe of what you see in the press when it comes to a particular country. I’ve never been to Greenland. I’ve never talked to individuals. I don’t know firsthand. It’s not like Hawaii where I’ve been there many, many, many times and know the culture and the people and so on. I don’t know that in regards to Greenland. But I would venture to guess there’s a lot more people there that would embrace being a state of the United States of America versus the way it’s being done right now. That’s my own thought process. I could be – again, I could be wrong in that, but I think that most of them there would be in favor of it. And militarily speaking, in regards to our own national defense – That would be a good thing. So, by the way, I appreciate that question. It was a good question. I haven’t talked about that in quite some time. It’s not in the news right now and probably why the question was asked because there hasn’t been much said about that of late. But that’s my take on Greenland. How does Donald Trump proceed with that? Well, just like anything else, there’s an old saying, first things first. He’s got to get all these tariffs done first, get all of his agreements done with all of the other countries first before he even starts having that conversation. So my feeling is that’s something that, of course, would have to be approved. You’ve got to run that through all of the legislative end of things like you would have to. Just because he’s president, you can’t just EU that. You can’t do an executive order or an EO. You just can’t do that through an EO. That doesn’t work that way. You’d have to go through all the proper channels and make all that happen. And I’m sure those may be some things being done behind the scenes. Although, as Charlie and I have said many, many times, people talk. Stuff gets leaked out. So believe me, inside the beltway of D.C., if that was being discussed, we’d know because people talk. We keep talking about that over and over and over again, and why our side sometimes can’t figure that part of it out is beyond me. People talk. Nobody, you know, the old your lips are sealed thing. Yeah, no, people leak things out and talk all the time. If there was discussion inside the beltway about acquiring Greenland right now, you’d Trust me, folks, we would know. SPEAKER 07 :
Live and local, back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 02 :
All right, this is more of a ready radio thing, but I’m going to squeeze this in really quick just because of something my wife just sent me. So I did a little test at our last remote that we just did this past weekend, and we were at a space that was at the car show we had at Lepino Foods, and that’s a space where because of all of the other electrical things they have going, they cook food, they’ve got hot plates running, all kinds of stuff going on, and there’s times there where the electricity, a breaker can get thrown. And when you’re on air and a breaker throws, it knocks us off. And it could be… Charlie and I have since done some things differently to try to avoid that. But it’s always sort of dicey as to whether we’re going to have that happen or not. But Charlie and I have learned how to kind of work around that. Well… I have a foolproof solution now because I actually, because it was on Primedale, I bought a Jackery. It’s this little power plant, 1,000-watt. I think it’s 1,100-watt power plant. And I did some work on it prior, figured out this would work for us, so I run all my gear off of that. Yes, if there’s power, it’s still keeping it charged up and going. And the reason I’m mentioning this is because somebody asked me about those last week, and They’re as good a deal as they were on Prime. Right now, they’re at Costco with the solar panel with it. So if you’re looking for backup power to run things like a fridge, you won’t run a microwave or anything like that. But if you want to run some fridges and some basic things like that, your furnace, whatever, it would do all of that. And it’s got the solar pack, the solar panels, I should say, the power, the pack. Those come with this particular unit. I didn’t get that because I didn’t spend as much money as this. But it’s $800 at Costco right now. And I’ll tell you right now, that’s about half off of both. So those of you listening, if that’s something you’re interested in, I would run to your local Costco, get one bought. It’s a great thing as a backup source. If power goes completely out, that’s a fabulous thing. And it’s about the size of a small lunchbox. That’s all the bigger it is. And it worked for me over the weekend. Fabulous. I’ll talk more about that on Ready Radio on Friday. But these may be gone by Friday, depending upon your local Costco. So I wanted to mention that now, not on Friday. Two more hours coming your way. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 1 :
Thank you.
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m a rich guy
