Join host John Rush for an engaging Health and Wellness Wednesday. This week’s episode covers a variety of health topics, from the recall of nearly 30,000 pounds of Chomps beef sticks due to contamination concerns to practical advice on tackling life’s greatest challenges. John explores why going too big too fast might be the biggest mistake in striving for healthier living. He also addresses common concerns about vaccines for children entering school.
SPEAKER 19 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 18 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 19 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 04 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job first. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 15 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 08 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 07 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 09 :
I am Hans. And I am Franz. And we just want to pop your loss.
SPEAKER 19 :
Welcome to Health and Wellness Wednesdays on Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 15 :
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, sir.
SPEAKER 19 :
I have what doctors call a little bit of a weight problem. I used to grab bear claws as a kid, two at a time, and I’d get them lodged right in this region here.
SPEAKER 01 :
Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.
SPEAKER 02 :
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
SPEAKER 17 :
I’m sorry that I’m fat. All right, welcome Health and Wellness Wednesday. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. We had a special guest today at 3.30, all lined out. Troy Duell, who we’ve had many, many times. And Troy had a family emergency and will not be able to join us today. But we’ll get Troy rebooked in the future. Might have somebody still be able to fill in here last minute. We will get to that point and find out. If not, I’ve always got plenty of things planned. To talk about question of the day from yesterday, what is the rarest naturally occurring element on Earth? And it’s astatine. I think I’m saying that right. A-S-T-A-T-I-N-E. I’ve never heard of that particular element. Some of you that are in that world probably have, but even Charlie has not. It is the rarest naturally occurring element on Earth with less than one gram present in the Earth’s crust at any one time. Not only is very little of it found in nature, it is very difficult to produce, even in its most stable form, acetine-210. All of the isotopes are short-lived, and acetine-210 only has a half-life of 8.1 hours. So there you go. I have no idea what you would even do with any of that, but there’s your information for today. Question of the day today, what is the technical term for the fear of long words? What is the technical term for the fear of long words? And one hint, I don’t know if I can even pronounce this name tomorrow when I give you the answer, and it’s really, really, really long. So there’s a hint for what the actual technical term for the fear of long words is. All right, we’ll dig deeper. Right into it today, I’ve got several things that I wanted to cover today, and as you guys all know, I do my best to stay out of the political end of things during this first hour. We’ll get into that, of course, hour number two, hour number three. I do have our normal guests lined up for Wednesday. Richard Battle will join us at 4 o’clock, Cindy Kutcher at 4.30, and then Scott Garlis, I should say, will be joining us at the 5.30 mark. We’ll talk a little bit about what’s going on in the markets today. and so on. So I’ve got a few things here that I was going to talk about in regards to springtime, being healthy for spring and so on. And before that, though, and I saw a video on this last night, so I thought I’d go ahead and mention this. You may have seen this, may not, but different people eat different things. This is not a brand that I’m familiar with because I don’t eat a lot of beef sticks. Now, some do. I don’t know why. I just, I think for me, I don’t know. I like the taste and all of that. I think just for me, because of the sodium content and just kind of how they’re made and so on, the preservatives and what have you, and nothing against them. They do make a nice, handy snack at times, and they’re much better than some of the other things you could have instead. But I’m not a big meat stick eater. But Chomps, which is a brand— recalled nearly 30,000 pounds of their beef sticks after consumers found some metal in the products. And again, I just happened to be watching a video. And some of you probably have seen this particular brand. They’re in the red packaging. And I don’t know if you’ve ever even noticed the name Chomps on them before. But trust me, those of you that are out there listening, you’ve seen this beef stick brand because it’s a lot of convenience stores and places like that. But It is a very large producer of beef sticks. It’s Idaho Smokehouse Partners, and they prompted the recall. Again, roughly 30,000 pounds. And it’s the original beef stick mild. And there’s two consumer complaints about some metal pieces being discovered in the product. So… Again, they’re recalling them. That’s not a cheap thing to do for a company. So, you know, kudos to them for actually doing that out of abundance of caution. They have said that they are doing that. And I would venture to guess that, you know, I’m one of those where it’s like, would it stop me from eating them? No, I think if I own them, what I would do is probably just make sure I was opening them up, not eating them by opening, but, you know, take a knife, slide down the middle, look inside, see if you notice anything. And to me, if it looks good, I’m probably eating it. Now, keep in mind, that’s coming from a guy that’s worked in the auto industry the majority of my life, and I’ve probably eaten more metal shavings and things like that over the years inadvertently that one little piece of something or other, unless it’s a large piece that’s going to hinder your ability to chew, swallow, and so on. frankly, probably not going to affect me one way or the other. That’s just me. Now, some of you listening are probably laughing because you’ve experienced the very same thing that I have over the years. I mean, I’ve had enough stuff fall in my mouth and different things that you’re doing when you’re working on vehicles and so on. You’re spitting junk out at times and so on and dirt’s falling in your face and it’s really bad in the wintertime when stuff’s dripping all over you and There’s times with me it’s like, okay, if this is the least of your worries, we’re in pretty good shape. I get it. It’s a recall. It needs to happen. You can’t have these things out in the marketplace. If there’s been a couple of consumers that have found this, I get that. But is this something I’m going to lose any sleep over if I was somebody that owned this particular product? No. Now, you can go look all of this up. I’m not going to give you all of the info. If you feel like you might have some of these things on the shelf, there’s date codes and so on that will tell you whether it’s a part of the recall or not. And I would just encourage you, if you’re somebody that has some of these chomps, bee sticks kicking around, go ahead and go look that up and make sure it’s nothing that you need to get taken care of. And I don’t know where you go to actually get this recall handled. Read about it. It’ll tell you. I didn’t get into the details of that. All right, let’s take our first break we’ll come back we’ll keep rolling along on different things for health and wellness wednesday and this happens to be one of those days too where if you’ve got something you’d like to either ask or add to a health and wellness wednesday segment we typically don’t have a lot of extra time to take phone calls and things like that but today is a day where if you want to text in something or call in with something feel free to do so 303-477-5600 that’s our live call-in number here for the studio or you can text us a question or a 80 to 22 veteran windows and doors. They’ve got a great deal right now on windows and doors. A big discount, I should say. And as I was saying yesterday, we actually had Dave on on Monday. And with veterans, they’ve got a great deal going on right now. 35% off three windows or less. I know that sounds funny, but if you buy up to three windows, it’s 35 off. If you buy four or more, it’s 40% off. And free labor either way you go. Find veterans today. Just go to klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 07 :
Veteran Windows and Doors never uses sales reps who are only trained to close the deal. You will work with the owner, Dave Bancroft, and he knows windows are very prescriptive, meaning each home is unique in where it is in elevation and whether the windows face the sun or not. That’s why Dave makes sure you understand every value and rating for your windows so you don’t pay extra for windows that you don’t need. And every window manufacturer advises against using gas filled windows at or above 4000 feet. Other companies will say they have the highest quality and rated windows, yet they still use the wrong products like gas filled windows at the wrong elevations. Those windows will eventually fail. Don’t sign anything until you have met with Dave. Even if you have signed a contract with another company, it may not be too late if the windows don’t meet code or Energy Star criteria for Colorado. Veteran Windows and Doors will give you 40% off when buying five or more windows and free installation. Find them at klzradio.com today.

SPEAKER 17 :
All right, we are back. Health and Wellness Wednesday on this Rush to Reason Wednesday show. Thank you so much, by the way, for listening. I do appreciate that very much. And again, our number here, 303-477-5600. I had a question that came in. I have a question regarding vaccines. Our four-year-old is due for the next round of vaccine requirements before being allowed into school. I don’t really want to do them. What is your advice? He has had all of the previous ones. I would go through the schedule. And I would look at and I think Dr. Kelly would agree with me on this and go through the schedule, look and see exactly what is required, which there’s a quotation mark around required when it comes to the school sides of things as well. So, number one, first look and see what is it they’re requiring. And then number two, how does that fit into what you’ve either already done or what needs to be done? And then I would sit down and have a conversation based upon that. If you’ve got any other specific questions, I can even bring that up tomorrow with Dr. Kelly Victory. She should be able to join us tomorrow. She’s got an interview right before our show starts at 3 o’clock, but she’s going to do her very best to join us. So I can actually ask her specifically, but I can pretty much tell you what she’s going to say is, A, look and see what the schedule is. B, look and see where you’re at. C, is there other ones that you may feel you need to go ahead and do? And if there’s some that you don’t feel you want to do, then that’s where I’d have a conversation with the school and look at things, because there are laws and things today whereby there is huge workarounds for that to where all of you listening, you don’t need to feel obligated ever to do anything, no matter what a particular school says. There’s all sorts of court cases and other things out there along these lines whereby if you feel you know spiritually religiously whatever that these things are not fitting into what you should be doing as a family then you are not required to do so and frankly this is why a lot of folks have just flat out gone to homeschooling and done things along those lines because it avoids some of the things that we’re even talking about along those lines but by all means Go through the schedule. Look and see where you’re at right now. Determine if that’s something that you want to proceed with. And by the way, no, you hear us talk about this all the time. No, you don’t have to do every single vaccine that’s out there. That is really up to you and your spouse, your family, and you make decisions based upon what you feel you need when it’s all said and done. One thing, too, I’m going to talk about some spring vaccines. How should I say this? Some tips for being healthy this spring. Let’s just say it that way. That’s basically what my topic, I guess you could say, my title of the topic is. And before I get into that, though, one thing that I think it’s important to remember is we hear all sorts of people that I interview on this particular program. Every week. Rare. In fact, this is one of the first weeks in a long, long, long time. that we haven’t had a guest. In fact, I can think back to probably the past year, and we’ve maybe had one or two other times where we’ve not had any guests during this hour because there’s lots of people that always want to be on during health and wellness. And by the way, just as a little teaser, I’ve got some other folks even locally that have reached out to me. They’ve got some different programs, some app-driven plans where they are really doing their best to help people get healthy, and there’s some one-on-one coaching and different things that go along with that. And I had a good conversation with somebody locally recently over the weekend, whereby we may be doing some of that here in the near future. And as we get closer to that, I will definitely let you know. But I read something today, and I was just kind of perusing through. I always do this for health and wellness anyways, whether I’ve got guests or not. I’m still looking at health and wellness topics and so on. And one of the things that I was reading today, and I think this is really important, this was by somebody that does food prep and all of that kind of stuff, dieting and health and wellness for a living. And the number one mistake, and I thought, okay, I’m always interested in knowing what’s somebody’s number one, what do they feel is the number one mistake people make when it comes to staying healthy, eating right, being fit, and all of that. And I found this interesting, and I can’t disagree with this. In fact, I think this is very appropriate. The number one mistake people make when it comes to being healthier, working out, all of that, is they go too big too fast. And then they fail, and then they’re discouraged, and then the cycle continues. And you know what? As I was reading through that, and there’s a lot more to that. I didn’t copy the entire article down, but as I was reading through it, I’m like, yeah, okay. This is like a lot of other life goals, and I get it. There are some people out there, you know, I’ve known people. They want to quit smoking. They don’t need a patch. They don’t need a program. They don’t need any kind of treatment. They just go cold turkey. They quit smoking, and they’re done. That’s the rarity, by the way. Most people don’t have the fortitude to go cold turkey and just stop. Most people, there’s a progression. They’ve got to take small bites out of it. Some people go with the gum, all of the different things that it takes to stop smoking. And for some, it’s a very long process to make that happen. And by the way, changing habits, and even when it comes to being healthy, eating right, and so on, some people can do it cold turkey. Very few can, though. Very few can. And make it last. I’ve known some people that can go to cold turkey. They can do a 30-day fast, or they can do a whatever. And, yeah, as soon as that 30 days is over, because that’s what they’re looking forward to is being done with it and then going back to the way they used to be, they make it through the 30 days, sort of like being in solitary confinement. You know you’re getting out at the end of 30 days, so great. As soon as I’m out, woo-hoo, off we go. You can’t do that in the health and wellness fitness world. It has to be a life change. If you’re not willing to make, and I’ll just be straight up honest, if you’re not willing to make the life changes necessary to be healthy, eat healthy, eat right, do those things that are necessary to have a more healthy lifestyle, I’ll just be straight up honest. Don’t bother. Don’t bother. And some are going to say, well, geez, John, a little bit’s better than nothing. No, actually, I would disagree with that. If you’re going to be yo-yoing, where you do something, then you don’t. Then you do something, then you don’t. Then you do something, then you don’t. If you’re going to yo-yo it, you’re better off not doing it at all. You’re better off just leaving it alone. Maybe make a few small adjustments in your life, and hopefully a little bit helps. But to make any major adjustments, if you’re just going to go back to your old habits, you’re better off not doing it. In fact, studies will tell that a lot of people that diet, lose 15, 20, 30 pounds, typically will pick that up plus some after it’s all over. And I’m not lying when I say that. Those are what the studies show. So, yes, I’m one that says if you don’t want to make significant changes… and you don’t have that wherewithal to make that change and stick with it, I’ll just be straight up honest. Don’t bother. Don’t bother. Why get started? You’re like that. I went to an auto auction last weekend, Mecham Auto Auction down in Phoenix, and I was thinking as I was looking at some of the cars that are there, and these are typically all finished cars. They’re trying to get them sold. They’re at auction and so on. But there’s always cars that are better than others. And some of the cars I looked at, I was like, you know, no offense, this car isn’t going to bring the kind of money that it needs to bring because the value just isn’t there because it hasn’t been done right. It’s been hacked together. It’s not put together properly. You might as well have never started. And that’s kind of what I’m talking about here when it comes to your life, your diet, your lifestyle, and so on. If you’re not going to make a fundamental shift, mentally speaking, in what you’re going to do there, I would say don’t get started at all. Now, I also would say that if you want to make that change, don’t bite all of it off at once. You know, that old saying, don’t bite off more than you can chew. Go ahead and do make the small moves necessary to gain what you need to do in that area. Count the wins as they come along and then go to the next one. So let’s say, for example, you’ve decided that, you know what, I’m going to go ahead and get more healthy. I want to get going on the right track. I know I need to make some changes. So maybe one of those first changes is just cut out all soda from your diet. Don’t worry about all the rest of the stuff. Don’t worry about cutting out carbs or anything else along those lines. Just cut out soda altogether. And I mean altogether. That one is one you could definitely go cold turkey. Don’t go diet. Well, I won’t drink colored, but I’ll go ahead and drink clear. No, if you’re going to go ahead and do this and get to the goal that you want to get to, which is a more healthy lifestyle, dedicate yourself to only having coffee, tea, water. There’s lots of electrolyte-type drinks that, by the way, still make water taste better than just straight water. If you’re somebody that needs a little bit of flavoring, you can also flavor your water with all sorts of other things, fruit, by the way, lemon, and so on. But I would say if you’re wanting to go on the path of getting healthier, one of the easiest things, and I’ll just say it straight up, one of the easiest things to do and make a change on, and by the way, one of the easiest things to even get people on board around you for is cut soda out. Because even if you’re going out to dinner and all of a sudden you’re sitting down and the waitress or waiter comes along and says, what do you want to drink? And you say, well, I’m trying to cut back. I’m trying to change my lifestyle around. And you know what? I would like to have water or tea. And do you always have to say that? No, it depends on who you’re with. And here’s why I’m saying that. In some cases, if you just say, oh, I’ll have water or tea, somebody might look over at you and say, where’s the Coke? You always have X, Y, Z when we go to dinner. What’s different today? So rather than having all that big explanation, then just right up front say, you know, I’m trying to cut back a little bit. I think what I want is just a glass of water. Okay, great. Off you go. Now, I will say this. If you’re somebody that is used to having several of those a day, and I know people that have several a day, and you all of a sudden cut that out, you’re going to feel like crap. Straight up, you’ll feel like garbage. How do I know that? Because I was one of those in 2010. Charlie always reminds me that some people tune into this show on a new basis and don’t understand my history and what I’ve been through and so on. But yeah, when I was in 2010, I weighed well over 315, 320 pounds and was a big boy and knew I needed to get some weight off. And that was one of the first things that I did. And I will tell you right now, cutting out all… which is essentially, I mean, you’re not cutting all sugar out when you get rid of the drinks, but a lot of what you’re intaking daily sugar-wise is coming from the drinks. So again, if you want to pick something small to go after and have a win in that area, then go ahead and do it that way. Just cut out your soft drinks altogether. And I will be the first to tell you, and some would argue with me on this one, but I’ll be the first to tell you, I’m not a big fan of diet sodas at all. At all. So I am not somebody that is a fan of diet Coke, diet Pepsi, diet this, diet that. Now, if you want to have a treat, you’ve gotten yourself on track, and you want to have something as a treat periodically, you know what? Knock your socks off. You hear even all sorts of different individuals. Dr. Julie last week even talked about how, yeah, it’s okay to occasionally treat yourself to something. Those guilty pleasures are okay from time to time. You can’t do it every day. But, you know, can you once a month, if you’re somebody that really, really enjoys a Coca-Cola, and all of a sudden you’ve gone this route and you’ve gotten yourself off of it, and, you know, a month or two down the road you want to have one, you know what? Go for it. But here’s what happens, and I’ll just be straight up honest. Your desire for it goes away anyways. Once you kick the habit of not having soda… Your desire to have one, for the most part, goes away. You might have a craving here or there, just like somebody that’s kicked the habit of cigarettes and so on, you know, no longer have that desire. Occasionally that might kick in, although most people that have smoked and then stopped, especially cold turkey, anytime they even smell a cigarette, they’re just like, I can’t believe I did that. You’ll kind of find yourself the same way on the soda end of things because they won’t taste what they used to. And I’m not exaggerating when I say that. You kick this habit that I’m talking about, and you then go and have one a month or two later, you’re going to think to yourself, why did I do this daily? In fact, in some cases, why did I do this every single solid day, every single meal of the day, you get my drift. So for me, one of the easiest things that you can change and cut out and have some small wins, and actually it’s a big win, but it’s not that hard, I guess is what I’m trying to get at. The whole food thing, menu, what you’re eating, what you’re not eating, that gets a lot more intrusive, I guess you could say, and it gets a lot more complicated at times where soda is easy. If it’s a soda, it’s a soda, it’s a soda, you don’t drink it. There’s no reading the label and determining what contents are in it, and does it have this, does it have that, blah, blah. No, you’re not doing any of that. If it’s a soda, I don’t drink it. So I do agree with this concept of you’ve got to have those small wins, and the biggest mistake people make is biting off more than they should right off the bat and then wondering why they didn’t succeed. Yeah, because you bit off more than you could chew in the first place. All right, I’ll come back to that. If you’ve got things you want to add to that, send us a text, 307-282-2222. SPEAKER 17 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. And we have got a guest at the moment as well. He’s been on with us before, Norbert Hauser. Norbert, welcome. How are you? Thanks for having me again.
SPEAKER 16 :
I’m looking forward to talk to you.
SPEAKER 17 :
I appreciate you. What you’re going to talk about dovetails into what I was talking about a moment ago, which is, you know, people try to make changes, especially during different times of the year. Now that we’re heading down the, you know, down the path into spring and then summer’s around the corner, people are trying to get that, you know, quote unquote beach body going and they’re trying to get more healthy and all these different things. So I was talking about, you know, hey, let’s have some Little wins along the way. I think one of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to bite off far more than they can chew, so have some little wins. So I was talking about a win that I think is a fairly easy one to do, although it’s difficult. But my point with it being easy is there’s not a lot of figuring in on how to do this food-wise, and that is just cut soft drinks out of your diet, Norbert. Now, that ties in, by the way, to what you’re going to talk about, which is the caffeine end of things, because caffeine isn’t just in coffee. It’s in those soft drinks as well, correct?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes, and even in comparison more than in coffee, there are a lot of energy drinks. All the energy drinks, all the soda pops, they have all caffeine, all of them. And besides the caffeine, of course, which has caffeine, for me, caffeine and sugar are the widest spread drugs in the world.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay. And I know, again, we’ve had you on before. We’ve talked about both of these topics before, caffeine and sugar. But Charlie’s reminding me all the time we get new listeners in that maybe haven’t heard us talk about certain things in the past. So even though we’ve covered this before, talk about that soft drug, if you would, you know, caffeine, sugar, of course, as well. But let’s talk about caffeine being that soft drug.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, sure. I’d be happy to do so. I’ve written a book which is called Every Coffee Drinker is a Drug Addict. Caffeine and coffee are drugs. And the book is on my website, improveyourlife.us. My website is all about improving your life in different ways. And improveyourlife.us, the book is on the website. And when we speak now, I take some quick extracts out of this book. The book, of course, goes much more intense. So it’s a drug. People will… Question, why is it a drug? Why is it an addiction? Well, it’s very easy. When you leave tomorrow, all soft drinks out of your diet and coffee, you will experience withdrawal symptoms. And withdrawals are always a sign of addiction. That’s right. And you can be addicted to a product, to a procedure, or to a person. These are the three areas my thesis discovered, how can you be addicted to? And addiction means very simply, the addiction is stronger than your free will to say no.
SPEAKER 17 :
Right, right. Yeah, in other words, your whole mind, your body, whether, again, the three things you just mentioned, and you could correlate that to each one of those, when that becomes the focal point of your entire thought process, you’re addicted, right? Right.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes. I mean, you’re not addicted to a salad, right? I never found somebody who’s addicted to a salad.
SPEAKER 17 :
Good point.
SPEAKER 16 :
And we are always addicted to the wrong, the craving for the wrong. It’s an addiction for the wrong. You have a craving for the wrong. At the moment, you are craving for orange juice. You’re craving for sugar. You’re craving for chocolate. You’re craving for alcohol. You’re craving for a soft drink, right? That is a clear 100% proof that you are addicted.
SPEAKER 17 :
True.
SPEAKER 16 :
And you can prove it to yourself, not to me. As I describe in the book, I made a self-test on myself and I described the self-test. All you do is just to say, for example, I will not drink coffee and caffeine products for one, two, three, four days. And you will see after how many hours or how many days your mind is spinning around that product and you have a craving and you give up and you cannot stay without it, for example, for a week. Most people cannot stay without for a week. Most people are not out without three days or so.
SPEAKER 17 :
By the way, I can’t disagree with anything you’re saying. It kind of goes along with what I was talking about in the last segment, people that want to have some wins. And in this case, let’s say you want to cut out those soft drinks and we’ll add the caffeine end of it. And when I said soft drinks, too, I didn’t really think about talking about the energy drink and all of that. And I should, Norbert. I didn’t think about it because I’ve never been somebody to find them appeasing. I’m not an energy drink fan. In fact, I’m not a guy that even drinks a lot of coffee, so I kind of stopped all of that back in 2010. So I forget about the energy drink end of things because I don’t partake and don’t have them around, and it’s not something that comes across the top of my head most of the time.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, that’s good. I mean, you are what I should call a lucky one, a good one, a solid one, a fighter. Yes, the problem is now here’s my kick. We all know – I think we all know and agree – that we have a big problem in this world about drugs, the hard drugs, right?
SPEAKER 17 :
Right, right.
SPEAKER 16 :
And it’s getting worse, okay? And it’s getting worse with young age. Now, here is my thesis. Nowadays, over the last 20, 30 years, babies in their mother’s womb get onto drugs.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
The mother, when she’s pregnant, most of the women, keep drinking coffee, Coke products, energy drinks, soda pops, right? The caffeine ends up in the baby. Like all the other food the mother consumes.
SPEAKER 17 :
Good point.
SPEAKER 16 :
So the baby, as an unborn child, is already used to a drug called caffeine.
SPEAKER 17 :
Right.
SPEAKER 16 :
And this is, for me, the birthplace of many problems. Not all, but many problems we have in our society with people getting used or grow up with drugs. Because once you are used to caffeine, which is a drug, no question, and now it’s easy to blend over to other more hard stuff and different stuff. Because you’re already on the track for drugs, right?
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, your body’s already used to one. What’s another?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 17 :
Right?
SPEAKER 16 :
And you start to have a craving. So for a child, when you see three, four-year-old children in a restaurant, what do they drink, most of them?
SPEAKER 17 :
Pop, mostly. Sodas, orange juice, which you’ve got to be careful with some of the apple juices, juice boxes, all those sorts of things. They’re all on the same line as far as I’m concerned.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, all the, what we drink nowadays in the restaurants, if it’s not Coke, all the juices are full loaded of sugar.
SPEAKER 17 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 16 :
And this is the strongest… most widespread drug in the world. We have sugar in meats, in cold meats, in everything. Why the hell do they put sugar in meats, right? All right, so it’s a big trap.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, and I know why, because it’s more addictive and you want to eat more of it.
SPEAKER 16 :
Of course, of course, of course, of course. So I have some hope that with Mr. Kennedy there will be a slight change, but it will take time because it’s habits, it takes years and years to change the habits. I agree. dreaming overnight but of course what he does is needed but what is more needed that parents realize it and take their share yeah and do something about it okay and and set an example for the children
SPEAKER 17 :
No, I agree. And everything you just said, you are 100 percent correct. And you’re right when you look around at restaurants especially. And, you know, I’m not trying to go to restaurants in Norbert, just be super critical of everybody eating around me. I try to go and just enjoy, you know, my end of things and so on. But you’re right. As you look around and you look at the things that are being done in the case of kids and so on, you look at some of the things that they’re actually consuming. And then these parents, maybe they don’t wonder, but you think they would. You wonder why these kids are all high strung. Well, no offense. Look what you just gave them. Look what you fed them.
SPEAKER 16 :
Sure. And go to the cashier and every cashier in a supermarket. What do you find next to the cashier where you put the money on the table? Truckloads of sugar products. Truckloads.
SPEAKER 17 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 16 :
Truckloads. And then the kids say, I want this, I want this, I want this. And most parents cannot say no. So it takes a big change in our mindset. It’s all a question of mindset and education. and education in school and at home, as a family.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, no, the education part of it, Norbert, and it’s what we try to do here every Wednesday, is absolutely huge. Not that people don’t have the resources to go learn these things, but the reality is, and you know this, if they’ve never been, quote-unquote, keyed to go find some of these answers, they won’t be looking for them in the first place. And so the reality is you almost have, you know, you got to do something to get them going, you know, to jumpstart it, I guess you could say, so that they’ll start asking the right questions and go do some of their research. You know, with the internet that’s out there right now, as you know, Norbert, they can go find all of these answers on their own. My fear is far too few look for those answers.
SPEAKER 16 :
Exactly. They have to get out of their comfort zone, and who wants to question the comfort zone, right? They don’t want to question it. Another thing is that most people don’t understand that these drinks are all too acidic. I’ll give you an example. We should drink drinks around pH which is called 7 to 8. If you drink a soda pop, a Coke, it has a pH of 2.5, which is 100,000 times too acidic. 100,000 times to acidic, and the body cannot handle it. So the long term, and nobody, when somebody’s an alcoholic, I worked a lot with alcoholics, nobody has a liver cirrhosis after drinking for two, three, four years, but after 10, 20 years. And the same happens here with the acidic drinks. the body just passes out over the years. The same thing happens with cell phone electromagnetic radiation. You don’t get a brain cancer from a cell phone in one, two years.
SPEAKER 17 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 16 :
But in 10, 20 years. And I have personally three friends who all died of brain cancer cell phone.
SPEAKER 17 :
That is sad in and of itself. Norb, what’s the website one more time where folks can go and find your information and your work?
SPEAKER 16 :
It’s called improveyourlife.com. ImproveYourLife.us.
SPEAKER 17 :
ImproveYourLife.us. Perfect. I’ll put that in our notes as well. Norbert, by the way, thank you for coming on last minute. We had a cancellation. You were gracious enough to just step right in, and I appreciate that greatly.
SPEAKER 16 :

SPEAKER 17 :
Well, thank you, Norbert. Appreciate you very much. Have a good rest of your day.
SPEAKER 16 :
Thank you. Bye-bye.

SPEAKER 10 :
American Stonehenge by Mike Goldstein is perfect for your middle grade reader. Just ask Dorothy.
SPEAKER 13 :
What I really liked about American Stonehenge was that it had everything that a kid will like to read. A little bit of fantasy and the talking dog. A lot of history. And it goes about it in a roundabout way so the kid doesn’t really know they’re actually getting a history lesson.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s beautifully illustrated.
SPEAKER 13 :
But having the illustrations gives the kids an idea because they’re so used to seeing everything presented to them in a digital way.
SPEAKER 10 :
But it’s a lot more than just a story.
SPEAKER 13 :
That it would help young readers because they can follow the story. They may or may not have to look up a word. It teaches them how people talk. It was down to earth. Here to interest kids and teach them something without them really realizing it.
SPEAKER 10 :
Mike Goldstein wants to get kids off their phones and into books.
SPEAKER 13 :
American Stonehenge will interest my grandkids that maybe they’ll get off their video games and telephones.
SPEAKER 10 :
Check out Mike Goldstein’s American Stonehenge, the adventures of Jimmy and Andrew to help your kids, grandkids, students, or other kiddos to break out of the digital world and read. Just go to klzradio.com slash read and get 10% off with the promo code KLZ.
SPEAKER 06 :
Suck it up, Buttercup. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 17 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. All right, closing out the show today, I read something that, for some of you, might be worth looking at. And this is something that, you know, we’ve covered a lot of things in this health and wellness segment, this hour. We’ve been doing this for eight or nine years now. And some of you say, well, how do you know you’ve been doing that long? Because it’s funny. You always get these little pop-ups on social media and so on that remind you of things you’ve done in the past. And I’ll look at some exercise thing or some taste test or something that we did, and it’ll come up seven years ago, eight years ago. And I’m like, oh, jeez, man, time flies. Unbelievable. Anyways, this is one I don’t think we’ve ever messed with, never talked much about. Men going bald. OK, that’s not something that now we maybe we had talked about that a couple of times back when Dan was with me because Dan could he’s, you know, hair challenged. I guess you could say he’s listening. So, Dan, you’re probably laughing at me right now. I’m not sure that we’ve ever really covered that whole aspect of things because it’s kind of an unknown science. If you know why men lose their hair. And by the way, this is something that I do know is for sure. The old, and it is an old myth, that, well, you get your hair from your mom’s side. No, you don’t. No, you don’t. I’ve read even things along those lines of late where it actually can come from either side or both at times. It depends. It’s not cut and dried. It used to be, oh, yeah, all your hair comes from your mom’s side. No, it really doesn’t. And the reason why I personally can prove that is my mom’s dad, who he passed away when I was really young. So he’s been gone for a very, very long time. But he died. He was like 55 years of age and was bald at that point. Had no hair. So that was my mom’s site. Charlie can attest to this. Those of you that know me and see me and so on, yeah, I’ve got a full head of hair. Not a problem. In fact, I cut my own hair. I do it about every six weeks or so, and I have no problem growing a full head of hair at all. So, no, I did not inherit that haircut. problem from my mom’s side. Now, I can tell you that my dad’s side, even my dad to this day, full head of hair, not a problem. Can grow hair, no issues whatsoever. I’m quote-unquote blessed as far as that end of it is concerned because to a lot of men, that’s a big deal. To some men, it’s not. To some women, it’s not. To some women, it is. Everybody’s different. Now, I was reading something today that I thought was interesting when it comes to this whole hair loss end of things. Men going bald are now turning to a new Botox for hair loss treatment. This is an article, by the way, coming out of Fox News. Hair loss patients have new hope amid breakthrough discoveries. And this is something that, by the way, they’re always working on is how do you get people that are going bald to grow more hair? Because this is something that a lot of folks don’t realize. Now, some of you listening do, although a lot of young people don’t know this. They will at some point, but they don’t know this. Both sexes lose hair. It’s not just a male thing is what I’m getting at. Women lose hair as well. Now, they may not go as completely bald as what their male counterpart does, but they can lose hair as well for all sorts of reasons. Hormone imbalance and hereditary things and so on. And women can lose hair just like men do. And that’s why there’s a whole world out there of everything from extensions to wigs to you name it for the female, you know, folk that are out there. Because to a woman, that is a big deal. Us men, you get a little bald spot. Okay, yeah, chalk it up to getting old. And you just figure out a way around it. And there’s things men can do, hair plugs and transplants and things like that. And a lot of men will do those things. And for women, though, it’s a big, big deal. My point is… that going bald is a big deal for a lot of folk. In fact, I should do my best to get some folks on that are experts in this area and actually have a really good conversation about what can you do. But I will tell you that the things that I know and have learned from family members and so on is a lot of this can be traced back to diet, hormones, do you have enough protein, things along those lines can contribute to hair or lack of, and a lot of that comes down to those things. Now, in a lot of cases, it’s hereditary, and this cure for baldness, which I’m reading about, there’s a UCLA study now coming out of Breakthrough talking about PP405 and that that particular molecule, and if you wake that up, You can get hair growth again. And there is now some studies being done whereby the Botox can actually encourage that awakening of that PP405. So it’s an interesting study. I’ll do my best to try to get some folks on here in the not-too-distant future to talk about hair, hair loss, things like that. It’s not something that we’ve really covered a lot of on this particular program. But for a lot of people, it is. A big deal. Cub Creek Heat and Air Conditioning coming up next.
