SPEAKER 12 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 13 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 12 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 04 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 07 :
Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 08 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 09 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind? It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right. Happy Monday, everybody. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Charlie Grimes, of course, your engineer. It’s Veterans Day today, so to all of you veterans that are out there, thank you. And it’s only fitting that we have Dave from Veterans Windows and Doors with us as well. So same to you, Dave. Thank you.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, sir. Thank you. Thank you.
SPEAKER 10 :
Glad to have you. This worked out perfect.
SPEAKER 04 :
It was, absolutely. I’m glad you’re here. As am I. And yesterday was the Marine Corps birthday.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s right, birthday. Yeah, hoorah. So happy birthday also. Outstanding, yeah. Yes, absolutely. I have one son that was a Marine, or is a Marine. You never were one. You always are one, I should say.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know that. Sticks to you. thank you for all those of you listening really i mean this sincerely i know dave does as well all of you veterans out there that have served and sacrificed and i say this and i mean this as well also thank you to the families of those veterans that served as well whether you’re you know mom dad grandma grandpa son daughter spouse You know, boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever the situation, you guys have as much to do and bear a huge load when those individuals are off, you know, doing what they do in the military for us to keep our freedom. So, Dave, I know especially those that find themselves in battle. Those families are a key part of everything going on there and keeping everything together back here. So thank you to them as well.
SPEAKER 04 :
Absolutely well said. And I’ve always thought that. I remember it was anytime I was deployed, I always felt it was harder on my family back home, my mother and brothers and sisters, because I know where I am and I know what I’m doing.
SPEAKER 10 :
Personally, as a dad, there were times where there would be several, sometimes months, they would go by where you would not know what was going on. You wouldn’t hear. You might get a little slice of information here or there, but very difficult to be on this end, let’s just say that.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. But, you know, I used to always try to tell my mother, I’m fine. I know what I’m doing. It’s you guys that are.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, you guys got to deal with it. So in turn, thanks to all of you, not just our veterans, but our veterans’ families as well. So Veteran Windows and Doors, Dave, we’re entering into that time of the year now where we had a lot of snow last week, depending upon… You know, where you were in our, you know, four or five state region that’s listening, some might still be digging out. I mean, some had a lot of snow. Some didn’t have quite so much. But it’s a reminder that windows and doors, it’s a big deal to keeping us safe, dry, warm in the wintertime, cool in the summer, of course. And what you do affects a lot of that comfort level for folks.
SPEAKER 04 :
That is it. That’s the whole point of an energy-efficient envelope on the building is to protect your HVAC units, to make sure your heater isn’t coming on every 15 minutes, nor your AC in the warmer months.
SPEAKER 10 :
Let’s keep that energy. Keep what you’ve done inside cooling or heating. Or in some cases, Dave, I mean, take a day like today. I mean, we’re sitting here in the studio. The sun’s coming in. I can feel the heat from the sun even as we sit here. That’s the other factor in this is, you know, figure out where you can get a little passive solar as well while you’re at it. So, you know, utilize some of that free, if you would, energy that’s sitting there.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s it. And you can actually, the way that we engineer the glass, it’s actually done in a louvered manner so that in the summer when the sun is higher, it refracts that solar radiation out. In the winter when the sun is lower.
SPEAKER 10 :
Which is now it’s coming straight in. It allows that to come through for your passive solar heating. So for those of you listening, if you have a home and you’re not experiencing some of the benefits of that, you may want to think about it. And where are energy prices going to go from here? I talked about this a little bit on my weekend programs. We did this on Saturday morning. Folks, I don’t know. Are they going to go up? Are they going to go down? I really have no idea. Chances of them going down significantly, probably, I mean, will they stabilize? Let’s hope. Let’s hope a Donald Trump administration can at least get them stabilized, Dave. But no matter what, they’re going to be high, and dollar is a dollar is a dollar. If we can save that any way, shape, or form, why not?
SPEAKER 04 :
Absolutely. And I think just from a comfort level, just in general. That’s also the case. Yeah, it’s more. I’ve actually already had some calls after these, you know, a couple of cold days in the snow, customers saying, I can’t believe the difference in the, you know, the windows and the quiet.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s not as drafty, quieter. That’s what we want to hear. You could live near an area where there’s some road noise or something along those lines. Good windows can help with that, along with the entry door, storm door, all of that. Yeah, I mean, Dave, you guys, you can do that all. And I know we say this a lot, but for those of you that maybe don’t get a chance to listen in and hear what we’re talking about, Dave, you can tailor this literally to any home, any project, anything somebody’s wanting to do, right?
SPEAKER 04 :
We can, not only among the different product lines that Provia offers, but also in way of what glass are we using. If you’re south or west facing, maybe you want to have a UV inhibitor added to the glass. If you’re not, if you’re north, then it doesn’t make sense to have that.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, why pay that extra money for that? Absolutely. So that’s what we do. Well, and I know this because before ever meeting you, I’d had some of these conversations prior. You don’t get that from some of the one-size-fits-all, you know, window and door companies that are out there. They’re not looking at what you just said. They’re going to look at, you know, basically it’s a one-size-fits-all. We’re going to sell you not just one window but, you know, 20 that are all the same.
SPEAKER 04 :
Pretty much. I mean, unfortunately, a lot of them, it’s closing the sale. That’s what they want to do. And that’s where the incentive is for the sales rep. So they’re not to blame. But it is important because I think people often think they’re getting the best when it comes to efficiency or actual value, and they’re really not. It’s like the emperor’s new clothes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Right. The other thing we talked about last time we were on that I want to make sure people understand as well is, folks, Dave has Provia, you know, the company, and the lines inside of Provia, you could have just a very basic home. You want very basic windows. You don’t need anything super fancy. On the same token, you could be living in a very upper-end house, and you want things to look very high-end because Provia, no offense you don’t want to detract from the value of the house and the people that are going to be looking at that house down the road to buy it in fact Dave I think that’s one thing that I cannot stress enough to people if you have a high-end home you’re eventually going to sell the home most likely. Rarely do people live in them until they die. I get it. There are some of those out there, but most of the time you’re going to be down the road and looking to do something different with the home. You really do need to fit the windows and doors to the quality of home you’re going to be selling down the road. And that might mean spending a little more money on those products because if you don’t, you may either not get a good sale or somebody may just pick the other home instead of yours.
SPEAKER 04 :
No, it is important, and I’ve had customers, too, that have called after the sale, after that fact, and were grateful that they chose to go with the higher end and the interior wood and the staining because it matched perfectly to what was there.
SPEAKER 10 :
My point is don’t step down. Right. Now, what I mean by that is that’s not – the quality of the window per se, but the finished look of it. Don’t cheap out there, folks. I’m being very serious here because down the road that will end up costing you.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, I agree 100%.
SPEAKER 10 :
My point is you can do all of that. Yes, yep. I think sometimes people think, well, it’s just a standard window. They’re all the same.
SPEAKER 04 :
No, no, no.
SPEAKER 10 :
There are a vast array of choices when it comes to this stuff, isn’t there?
SPEAKER 04 :
There are, and even among each manufacturer, they have their different lines. But at the end of the day, none of it matters as long as you’re ensuring that that window is meeting those energy values for where you live. Otherwise… It’s no point in making that. But people, that’s my effort. I want them to know what those values are so when the next sales rep comes in, they can just cut to the chase, say, just tell me what’s your U-factor, your solar heat gain. I don’t need the heat lamp demo or any of that. We’re good.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah. I’m knowledgeable. I already know all this.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, yeah. I probably know more than you at this point.
SPEAKER 10 :
Probably. That’s probably the case, actually.
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m afraid so.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m afraid you’re correct. All right. Deals this month at Veteran Windows and Doors. If they call and get in, you know, month of November, what are they going to get?
SPEAKER 04 :
We’re actually starting everything at 35% off, including installation, and then going up from there based on the volume of what they’re doing.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, perfect. All right, for those of you listening, klzradio.com is where you find Dave, or you can go to rushtoreason.com, find him there. Either place you’ll find Dave that way, and I recommend that because a lot of you right now are procrastinating. probably driving. If you’re home, great. You can go ahead and just go to the website and look it out. But call Dave. Let him know you listen to us on a regular basis. We appreciate that. He appreciates that. And Dave, again, thank you. Veterans Day, veteran windows and doors. Fitting that you were here today.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Thank you for what you’re doing for us and our listeners. Absolutely. Thank you.
SPEAKER 04 :
You are well worth it.
SPEAKER 10 :

SPEAKER 12 :
God. Country. Reason. Now back to John Rush.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, again, happy Monday, Veterans Day. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Question of the day from Friday. Name the first airline that offered free in-flight entertainment. That was Delta. In 2016, they announced they would offer free in-flight entertainment for passengers on two-class aircraft. That was an innovative move for Delta. Paved the way for other airlines to offer free in-flight entertainment as well. So that was the question of the day from Friday. Today, answer this on the… Facebook page, our social media Facebook page, and we would appreciate that. Which U.S. president dedicated the Vietnam Memorial? Which U.S. president dedicated the Vietnam Memorial? That is the question for today because it’s Veterans Day, of course. Oh, no. No, you’re wrong, Charlie. Wow. Charlie never gets these wrong. Think older. Think older. Charlie gave me an answer, but I’m talking back to him. And he speaks in my ear. You guys don’t get a chance to hear him. Answer that again on the Facebook page today if you would. All right. I talked on Thursday and said I would make sure that I researched to make sure that it wasn’t just some fluky thing. There’s a lot of stuff that floats around the Internet. And, you know, is everything that you always hear correct? And in a lot of cases, no. But in this case, it actually is. And I talked about a Web site. that you, as a citizen, can go to this website and put in things that, it’s like a suggestion box, put in things you’d like to see. It’s called Policies for the People, and it’s policiesforpeople.com. And it, in fact, is a real website. It is a public forum where highly informed, experienced, and passionate leaders in their fields come together to solve the existential crisis facing the country. Join the discussion. There’s little links here, and you basically can go in here and log in, create an account, and… Join the discussion, basically. So when I talked about this on Thursday and that there would be a website whereby, and there’s going to be one for health, by the way. I didn’t look that one up to see, but I think it’s already up and running. RFK Jr. wants a health website along the same lines as this. And to my knowledge, there will be the two that they will have existing moving forward. Now, I can probably tell you that This would potentially change with an administration change in Washington, D.C., as you can imagine. Will this run indefinitely? Probably not. Depends on how long our side stays in office. If our side stays in office for a while, I think you’ll see this. By the way, I think this is a great idea. I think this should have been there long ago. I mean, how many people will actually use this and chime in? Who knows? Hard to say. But I think one thing that government doesn’t do a very good job of, and it’s a problem that politicians even have, they will listen to the people while they’re on the campaign trail and tell them what they want to hear while on the campaign trail, but once elected, tend to get amnesia. And a lot of those things get forgotten. And this, by the way, Charlie said give the website again, but this will be in our show notes as well. So those of you that are driving that maybe don’t get a chance to write this down, but it’s really simple. Policiesforpeople.com. Just spell it out. And that four is F-O-R, not the number four. So policiesforpeople.com. But, again, I think it’s a great idea. I’m one where I believe a lot of politicians, they get elected in their defense. They get elected. They go to Washington or here in Colorado. They go down to the statehouse and pretty soon they’re inundated with five million things that start coming their way. They they get involved with this committee and that committee. And pretty soon before you know it, you know, a year goes by, two years go by. And they kind of forgot about some of the things they initially may have wanted to get done when they went there in the first place. Now, I also understand there’s a lot of undue influence that happens, a lot of deals that are made and so on. But I do think that a lot of rookie. politicians go to Washington or the Statehouse, wherever they’re at, Colorado, you know, our signal goes Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming. We have people in Utah listening, Montana. I mean, folks, I can rattle off half a dozen states that listen to us pretty easily. And I think a lot of those junior politicians will go in thinking, yep, I’m going to set the world on fire. And then they realize that the wheels of government turn very slowly, and even some of the ideas that they have don’t make it very far. And I’m not blaming them for that. I think these things just naturally happen. This website, I believe, frankly, continues those discussions and helps out. Now, who’s going to monitor all of this? I don’t know. I have no idea. And one other question I have, will there be a third website for the likes of Elon Musk and the DOGE – what do you want to call that, Charlie? Office? It’s the Office of DOGE now. I think it’s going to be an actual – like the EPA or whatever. It’s going to be called DOGE, Department of Government Expense. DOG, they’re calling it. Not Dodge. DOG. I don’t know why it’s got an E at the end. Yeah, the E is the expense. But everything I’ve read, they’re pronouncing it dog, not Dodge. I was pronouncing it Dodge originally because it makes the most sense. But D-O-G-E. At any rate, I hope they have a suggestion box as well. How can we save money? Folks, when you get to that list, holy cow, I could sit down, I could go to Washington and spend an entire weekend going over ways they could cut expense in government. Now, I’m not the only guy out there thinking, and I’m sure Elon Musk and others have thought of other ways. The problem with even, frankly, the Elon Musks of the world is they – I’m trying to say this as nicely as I can, and this is nothing against the Elon Musks of the world, but they don’t live in the real world. Even Elon, as much as he does, doesn’t. You know, they have people that, you know, they’ve got security and drivers and this, that and the other. And, you know, they just don’t do, you know, I mean, I don’t know when the last time Elon Musk would have gone down and bought a gallon of milk, let’s say. I doubt any time, you know, any time in the recent past. At one time, I’m guessing he did a lot of that because you can go back and look at his history and I’m sure he did. But even back in the early 2000s when he sold some of his companies and so on, at one point in time he bought a million-dollar McLaren. Now, when you’re buying a million-dollar McLaren, you’re probably not going down to the local grocery store and buying groceries. Just saying. So I hope they even have some suggestion boxes on that end of it because I could think of all sorts of ways government could save money, and it’s not that difficult. Now, in a lot of cases, it’s just simply overhead. They got too much overhead. And I’m sure that’s one of the first things Elon Musk will look at. There’s departments we have we shouldn’t even have. We’ve got studies we do we shouldn’t be doing. We have all sorts of things. And Elon Musk has even said, tighten up. And by the way, I think some of what Elon Musk says that he gets taken out of contest when he says, hey, tighten up. This first year or so might be a little difficult. I don’t think he’s talking about the American people. I think he’s talking to a lot of government workers whereby they may not have their job. They may have to go do something else or they may have to be retrained somewhere else. And I don’t know exactly how all that works and what the legalities are to letting somebody in government go because that’s very difficult versus the private sector. You know, at Twitter, if he wanted to just clean house, he did. And off they went. You give them a pink slip and off they go. I don’t know if you can do that in government. I’m not sure exactly how that works. I’m not in government, so I can’t explain that. But at the end of the day, he will, and he will figure out a way to cut expense, and we need to. It is out of control, literally, the amount of spending that goes on, not just in Washington, D.C., but all the way down to the local level. I’ve said this over and over again. I’ll keep saying it. I could go into any budget, anywhere, any government budget, from a school district to, frankly, even churches, and cut budget without any problem. People wouldn’t be happy at the end of the day, but you can go in there and cut budgets quickly. It’s not that hard to do. Anybody that’s been in the business world that has run a business and understands what it takes to actually make money at the end of the day can do what I just said. It’s not that difficult. So, at any rate, this particular website is real. I spoke about it on Thursday, did a little bit of research over the weekend, and found it. And… Again, I believe there’s going to be a second one for the health sides of it. Again, the MAHA, Make America Healthy Again. Not MAGA, but MAHA, M-A-H-A, Make America Healthy Again. I believe they’re going to have one for that as well. Congratulations also goes out to Gabe Evans. If you guys haven’t been noticing, in the 8th Congressional District, so CD8, his opponent has conceded. I don’t think there’s much of a pathway for her to win. I think, Charlie, last time I looked, Gabe’s up about 2,500 votes or so, and it looks like the rest of the votes that would be coming in probably would increase that count even higher. So I think she finally decided that, you know what, I might as well just cut to the chase and concede. And off we go. Doesn’t mean they won’t finish counting votes. They will. But I’m guessing his lead will even be larger than that when it’s all said and done. So that helps us in the House. Andy and I will talk about that tomorrow. But remember also, Gabe Evans is a guy that not only had to overcome the Democrats, he had to overcome some in our own party. The chairman and the likes of those people, Dave Williams and his cronies. Gabe had to overcome them as well. I can tell you that because I talked to Gabe. We actually had him on for some of you that maybe don’t remember this, but all the way back when we did a remote at Phoenix Weaponry on a Saturday morning, I think, I want to say, Charlie, that was in April, I want to say, late April, late April, early May, sometime in that neck of the woods. I think it was late April. We did a big sort of fundraiser on air. Phoenix Weaponry was the sponsor of that, and we had all sorts of politicians that came in. Gabe was one of those. He sat down, talked on air. We had him on on that Saturday morning during Drive Radio and had a great conversation. And I can tell you, at that event, he was getting no support from the party here in Colorado. Zero. So Gabe literally did what he did with, frankly, help from other states that Not even here in Colorado. Yeah, all of the PACs that were against him. Thank you for the reminder, Charlie. So not only did he have to defeat the PACs, he defeated our own party here in Colorado. I believe that Gabe even had help from the GOP in Arizona that helped him in this election up here. That’s sad. That’s really sad. Andy and I and Charlie, of course, will get into some of that tomorrow when Andy’s here. But it’s really sad that the Arizona GOP did more to help Gabe Evans win than our own GOP in Colorado did. And, folks, that’s a fact. Those of you that think I’m always hard on Dave Williams, if you don’t believe what I’m saying, go look that up on your own and then tell me how that’s justifiable. And I’m being very kind when I say this is why we need a leadership change here in Colorado. But, you know, why did we not get more help for individuals like Gabe where we need these house seats as much as we can? And remember that the three house seats we won in Colorado. Three, five and eight. Had the Colorado GOP had their way, we would have lost all three. We would not have won. I can assure you as much as I’m sitting here talking to all of you right now at 3.30 in the afternoon on Monday, Veterans Day of 2024, we would have lost all three of those seats with the other candidates that the GOP wanted to run here in Colorado. So that tells you something right then and there. We need a leadership change in Colorado. I’m sorry. It has to happen. It won’t happen soon enough for me. And fortunately, ranked choice voting was shot down. If I get time today, I’ll go into some of the things that actually either passed or failed from last week because we didn’t get into some of the things that were on the local ballots and so on. If I get time today, I’ll do that. If not, we’ll do that for sure tomorrow. And we won some other great things here in Colorado. There was a state education board win where a Republican, a key Republican, won that. And that will help keep Colorado and some of the pro-charter school bent that we’ve had as a state. That will keep that going moving forward. That was Yasmin Navarro that actually won. So good for her. Yasmin, congratulations. Gabe, congratulations. All the rest of the Republicans that won that were key here in Colorado, congratulations to you. We could have had even bigger wins. had we had the proper leadership in Colorado. And we’ll talk more about that here with Andy tomorrow. Hi-Fi Plumbing is next. 877-WE-HI-5. Don’t forget, they do electrical as well. So if you had anything that came up during this last storm, give Hi-5 a call today. 877-WE-HI-5.

It’s recommended that you have a plumbing inspection early, and an inspection from High Five can be scheduled as soon as the same day. SPEAKER 09 :
Now, back to Rush to Reason, presented by Hi-5 Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, we are back. Welcome again. Veterans Day on this fine Monday. Joe, joining us now. Joe, what’s going on?
SPEAKER 15 :
John, the other person you had on your show that was declared a winner, I think, last Thursday was Jeff Crank down in 85. That’s right. He had to fight Dave Williams in the primary.
SPEAKER 10 :
Correct. We had him on during that time, actually.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right. You had him on, I think, three days before the primary closed out. Dave Williams refused to come on. And then he crushed the Democratic challenger. He Crank came in 55% versus 41%. That’s huge. Just a huge margin.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, what that tells you is, you know, despite what that figure says, Joe, is that by and large, the majority of people there want you elected.
SPEAKER 15 :
Exactly, right. And I hate to say it, but even if Dave Williams had won the primary, Dave Williams probably would have won that seat as well.
SPEAKER 10 :
He probably would have, although by a much, much smaller margin.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, Dave Williams was, I mean, I’m so happy. Jeff Crank is our representative in CD5. By the way, he replaces—that was seed help by Doug Lamborn, I believe.
SPEAKER 10 :
Right, that’s correct. Which Doug’s a great guy as well. I have a lot of respect for Doug over the years.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right.
SPEAKER 10 :
Anyway, so— And for those listening, really quick too, Joe, just to make sure I throw this in there. Doug endorsed Jeff.
SPEAKER 15 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yep. So it kind of tells you that, hey, he’s the guy going out, and he wants this guy to replace him. That should say a lot.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right. And as I mentioned, I know Jeff— Personally, he used to have a radio show on Saturday morning, conservative radio show.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, he was painted up for all of you listening. Just a real quick side note here. And Joe, you know this. He was painted up to be pretty much the establishment guy, you know, anti-conservativism. You know, he’s a rhino. He’ll do nothing but just make things bad for Colorado when he’s there in D.C. I mean, they painted him to be the devil.
SPEAKER 15 :
Exact opposite. In fact, he lost his radio show. Because he refused to get the COVID vaccination. By the way, he got COVID. He was going to go on a hunting trip into Alaska, I think. And the airline said, you got to get tested. He got tested. He came back positive. So he came back. So he got, you know, he recovered quickly. And they said, well, the radio, I forget which network it is down there. And he said, I’m not getting vaccinated. I already had it recovered. I’m immune. And they said, no, you can’t have your show. He even offered to do his show remotely.
SPEAKER 10 :
They still said no.
SPEAKER 15 :
They still said no. So that’s, you know, rhinos don’t stand on their principles, and his principle was, I’ve had COVID.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m not taking this thing, just like we did here.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yep. And he put his money where his mouth is, and they took the show away from him.
SPEAKER 10 :
Again, Joe, that’s one of those things for everybody listening that might be on Dave’s side. You really need to rethink things because Dave did not help any of those three candidates I mentioned earlier get elected. He actually the opposite, Joe. It was actually the opposite.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, I think Andy made the great point. Had any of Dave’s candidates succeeded in the primaries, we probably would have lost three seats in the House of Representatives, which at this point could very well tip the balance of power. as to who controls the House. And by the way, I’m a little worried about Elise Stefanik. I mean, I think she’s great. But if we only have a one or two vote margin in the House, and she pulls out to take over to be U.N. ambassador, the Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul gets to appoint her replacement, and you know it’s not going to be a Republican.
SPEAKER 10 :
Right.
SPEAKER 15 :
So I’m a little concerned about her vacating her seat to become our U.N. ambassador, unless we have a very comfortable three- or four-vote majority in the House.
SPEAKER 10 :
And I am guessing, Joe, that all of those things are being discussed as we speak. Trust me, that game of chess is being played right now.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right, but again, unfortunately, the press is already saying it’s a done deal. Oh, yeah, yeah. No, but if we only have a two-vote majority, I think they’re going to have to rethink that.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, because that’s not enough. To your point, we need more than that.
SPEAKER 15 :
Exactly.
SPEAKER 10 :
And I don’t know, and for those of you that are listening, maybe you’ve kept on, I didn’t get a chance, Joe, to look much today. Where do we stand right now with the House as far as that goes?
SPEAKER 15 :
I think we’re at 214 to 2-something. 214-202.
SPEAKER 10 :
But we still have some outstanding, right?
SPEAKER 15 :
With about 19 votes left to go, so… We only need four out of 19 undecided races to get to 18. But, again, that’s not enough. We need more than that. Yeah, we need 220, 221, 223. So, again, four out of 19 clinches it, but ideally we’d like to get seven or eight out of 19.
SPEAKER 10 :
I agree. I agree with you. And I think that’s one of those things we’ve got to be very careful on some of these cabinet decisions or appointments that we’re talking about to not screw that up.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right, because you can get, and believe it or not, I mean, a lot of our House of Representative members come from very blue states. Like, you know, believe it or not, we have four or five congressmen from California.
SPEAKER 10 :
We’ve got a couple from New York State. That’s right.
SPEAKER 15 :
And if one of them gets hit by a bus, comes down with cancer, those governors, those blue governors, get to appoint their replacements. So we cannot play the game where, you know, you take any group of, in our case, 200, and let’s say we have 220 people. John, out of the next 24 months, out of 220 people, what are the odds that one or two of them are going to suffer some fatal or debilitating… Fairly high.
SPEAKER 10 :
I hate to say that, but fairly high.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, particularly given the fact that many of these people are in their 50s and 60s, and people come down with colon cancer and heart and stroke and whatever. Correct. If you look over the… And I get it.
SPEAKER 10 :
The other side has that same risk, but that risk is there.
SPEAKER 15 :
That risk is there. And again, we can’t afford to… to lose, you know, we need more than a one- or two-seat majority.
SPEAKER 10 :
And what I was reading this morning, keep in mind, that 214 to 204 was without Gabe’s win because this was printed, you know, this came out this morning. So that should now be 215, Joe.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, and I’ll check again.
SPEAKER 10 :
Because this article I’m reading out of Fox 5 New York has the one Colorado seat, CD8, up in the air still. So that has been confirmed now on our side.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, well, great. So, again, if we can get another six or seven seats. That’s what we need.
SPEAKER 10 :
But for those of you listening, please remember everything Joe’s saying. We’ve got a seat in Washington, Oregon, Ohio, Maine, Louisiana, Iowa, Alaska, Arizona. That’s where some of these remaining seats, and there’s ten in California.
SPEAKER 15 :
10 in California, right. So again, we and again, somebody can get hit by a bus and the blue governor gets to replace him. So that’s why you can’t.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s why we need a bigger margin.
SPEAKER 15 :
Bigger margin. And by the way, speaking of Iowa, remember Ann Seltzer, the pollster, this quote.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, yes, I do. Yes.
SPEAKER 15 :
She she she she said, I mean, she was the talk. It was four days before the election. She had Kamala Harris leading by four percentage points. Kamala Harris lost Iowa by 14 points. So she was I’m sorry. She had Calma Harris ahead by three and Calma Harris lost by 14. She was off by 17 percentage points. But everybody was touting Ann Seltzer as the guru who was predicting that Harris was going to flip Iowa blue. Anyway, New York Times, everybody else was just touting her wisdom and her.
SPEAKER 10 :
insight so the polls are not all not always and that’s where some of those things we even played last week were uh uh where there were people talking about oh yeah if i if this if she you know she’s right i mean basically there’s people out there saying oh she’s right and this is what’s going to happen in the election on tuesday these people were out you know tweeting and doing videos and stuff all over social media on tuesday afternoon basically claiming that oh yeah this gal’s right it’s all over you know harris has won uh nothing could have been farther from the truth right
SPEAKER 15 :
Did you play the video of the woman making fun of the liquor store clerk when she went to buy her champagne?
SPEAKER 10 :
For all of you listening, that gal has deleted and taken down a lot of the things that she put out. Unfortunately, Joe, as you know, when you put something on the Internet, it’s there forever now.
SPEAKER 15 :
It lives forever. And for your listeners who didn’t hear it, this woman, she made a video that she was proud of, and she posted it. telling this story about how she went to buy a bottle. This was 5 o’clock in the afternoon before any results were in. And she went to buy a bottle of champagne, and the clerk said, what are you celebrating? And she said, Kamala Harris as our next president. And the clerk said, aren’t you being a little premature? And she proceeded to ridicule this guy for questioning her projection.
SPEAKER 10 :
Because she’s a political analyst and strategist, and she knows, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
SPEAKER 15 :
And, yeah, she was ridiculing and making fun of the clerk. for questioning her prediction that Harris was going to be her next president.
SPEAKER 10 :
Right.
SPEAKER 15 :
Anyway.
SPEAKER 10 :
Nothing, again, nothing could have been farther from the truth. She was completely wrong, as we know.
SPEAKER 15 :
Didn’t age well. By the way, other things that didn’t age well, you know, less than four months before the election, the Democrats were still proposing there were multiple bills to expand the Supreme Court. I think in a show of bipartisan cooperation that Trump should revive those bills and say, you know, hey, guys – That’s a great suggestion. Why don’t you revive your bills or we’re going to bring him back on the floor, and since you were the sponsors, we assume you’re going to vote for him to expand the Supreme Court.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, you know what? I can’t argue that either. It won’t happen, but yeah, I hear you.
SPEAKER 15 :
But wouldn’t that be great irony to say, hey— Well, really quick, and I’ve got this in my notes.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’ve got a couple minutes here, Joe, before I let you go. The other thing that I think that the left—it’s not going to happen, but what the left really should have done is they should have— they’ve got Sotomayor, where she’s got some health issues and the like. They should have probably handled that one before now.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, she’s 70 years old with type 1 diabetes, and they’ve suggested that she resign, and she’s rejected that. And I’m not wishing ill for the woman. No, not at all.
SPEAKER 10 :
Absolutely not. But if she, you know… But, you know, this is a situation where, you know, I hate to say this, Joe, they get very prideful. They think that they can control everything, i.e. the election with Kamala Harris. They did the same thing with Ginsburg. I mean, they thought that she was going to live on forever. Both of those, by the way, the election and the last Supreme Court end of things with Ruth, that didn’t end very well for them. They should have handled Ruth long before… you know, Donald Trump came around.
SPEAKER 15 :
Exactly.
SPEAKER 10 :
Because that came back to bite them.
SPEAKER 15 :
Was it that pride goeth before the fall?
SPEAKER 10 :
Uh-huh.
SPEAKER 15 :
And and that’s where we are now. And again, I’m not wishing ill, but if I know.
SPEAKER 10 :
But Joe, at some point you have I mean, that’s where even I said this last week. I think one of the number one orders for Trump and his administration, once things get rolling and they need to do it within the first 12 months, I believe, is if there’s a couple of Supreme Court justices, Clarence Thomas being one of them that they feel they need to get taken care of, then they need to do that now, not later, not not in the second half of his term, but the first half.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, because we could lose the Senate. There’s a midterm election in two years and we could lose the Senate. 51 votes in the Senate to confirm the Supreme Court. And Sam Alito’s the other one, I think. You know, Sam Alito, I think, is 70 now.
SPEAKER 10 :
He’s getting up there as well. So both of those are ones that you need to look at. But Clarence, I think, by the way, I think in general, he’s one of those that’s sort of been hanging on to see what happens with this particular election. And I don’t think there’s any, you know, I don’t think there’s any, how do I want to say this, Joe? I don’t think anybody… I would say otherwise. I think he’s been hanging on to see exactly what was going to happen, making, hey, if I can hang on until we get a conservative back in the White House, I’ll do so. But you’ve got to believe that those conversations are happening.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, and I would suspect – I’d be very surprised if at least Thomas doesn’t announce his intent to resign at the end of this year. term, which will be in June of next year.
SPEAKER 10 :
Meaning that we’d have a summer of, you know, some, you know, hearings and confirmations and so on, and there’d be, you know, appointees and so on. Again, that’s another one where, okay, who do you put in that place? And frankly, as hard of a time that Ted Cruz had, and it’s not necessarily hard, but he could have won by a larger margin. You know, do you take a guy like Ted Cruz and throw him onto the Supreme Court?
SPEAKER 15 :
You know, again, well, of course, we’ve got Greg Abbott down there in Texas.
SPEAKER 10 :
I can replace him just fine.
SPEAKER 15 :
Replace him. Well, I’d like to see Ted Cruz as attorney general. You know, he was a federal prosecutor.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, you could do that as well, although, you know, but I’ve said this as well. You put him on the Supreme Court, Joe, though you got, you know, barring he has any kind of health issues or dies or anything like that, you got 20 years of the guy.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, that’s true.
SPEAKER 10 :
Or attorney general, you don’t. You have it until whatever the next administration is that comes along.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 10 :
By the way, speaking of— His long-term good would be better on the Supreme Court, by the way, in my opinion.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, because the attorney general, you only get until the next administration.
SPEAKER 10 :
Correct. Where a Supreme Court, he’s there until something happens to him, until he decides not to be.
SPEAKER 15 :
20, 30 years at least.
SPEAKER 10 :
Right.
SPEAKER 15 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 10 :
And we all know Ted’s constitutionalist side. I think he’s a very fair individual. I think he would be a very, personally speaking, I think he’d make a great Supreme Court justice.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right, and coming out of Texas, again, Greg Abbott could replace him with another conservative. Easily, easily. So that doesn’t worry me if they want to pluck Ted Cruz.
SPEAKER 10 :
That one, to me, is a no-brainer.
SPEAKER 15 :
I think you’re absolutely right.
SPEAKER 10 :
And I think getting him confirmed wouldn’t be hard either. Everybody there knows him.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, they all know him. Well, again, and with a 53-54, I mean, with a… you know, 53 or 54 seat majority in the Senate.
SPEAKER 10 :
That one’s easy.
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s going to fly right.
SPEAKER 10 :
Correct. Correct. Anyways, that’s my thought. I’m not, I’m not, you know, I’m not in that world. I don’t get to make those decisions, but that’s what I would do.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yep, you and me both. All right, John, I’ll talk to you later.
SPEAKER 10 :
Joe, I appreciate you very much. Thank you. And yeah, again, I said this last week, and there’ll be a lot of things that Donald Trump comes out and talks about, you know, getting things done when he, you know, takes over and gets going in January. I had somebody ask me today before the show, you know, what do I think will happen prior to, you know, January 20th, the inauguration and so on? Crickets? There’ll be a lot of lefties that are out yelling, some of those extremists like the lady that we played on Friday that Andy played. You’ll have some of those extremists that will be yelling and wanting to have some uprising and different things along those lines. But the party itself, crickets, and here’s why, and Andy said it last week as well. They are going to go after this and want to be the model party. They will have a nice, smooth transition of power, and then they will use that against us down the road saying, yeah, well, look at what happened in 2020 when Trump lost versus look at what happened to us in 2024 when he won. And they’re going to use that against us in that transition of power. That’s my feelings on things. I will see if I’m correct or not, but I don’t see much happening along those lines because of what I just said. Is that John? John, you’re up, sir.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, Joe, one thing. Joe is wrong on replacing Congress. Based on, I looked it up why he said that. For senators, the governor replaces automatically, but for congressmen, the governor replaces automatically. of the state has to issue a writ of special election.
SPEAKER 10 :
We just went through that. Thank you for the reminder, John. We just went through that here, and that’s why we’ve had what we had happen here of late, and we know that. That’s why Greg Lopez is now a representative. Lauren Boebert’s going to take his seat now, of course. But yeah, thank you for that reminder. You’re exactly right. There’s a special election.
SPEAKER 14 :
So what happens is the governor has to call a special election. once she resigns to take a cabinet.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s right. Thank you for the reminder, John. We just went through that here. I should have remembered that because we just did that.
SPEAKER 14 :
So that’s why you don’t want Congress members of the House to step down just for that reason because it could take up to six months before you get a replacement and you’ve got a vacant seat.
SPEAKER 10 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 14 :
Whereas, oh, prime example. Kamala Harris got elected vice president, and within two weeks, there was a new senator from California, if you remember.
SPEAKER 10 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 14 :
So, yeah. That’s different.
SPEAKER 10 :
The senators are easy because that comes from the governor where the other does not.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, and that goes all the way back to before they, I can’t remember which amendment it was, prior to the change of amendment when state legislators would appoint senators. And that’s the way it was until the early 1900s. And I think that was a better way of doing it. But I don’t know what you think, as opposed to.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I mean, I think the special election, I think having it the way it is right now is fine. And again, thank you for the reminder of that, because, you know, Greg Lopez is now in CD4. That’s the one that Lauren Boebert’s going to go ahead and take over because he said he wouldn’t run, which he didn’t. So he’ll finish things out and then she’ll come in and take over. And by the way, that’s a good way of doing it. I like that.
SPEAKER 14 :
I like that way, too, because the reasoning behind it is they call the House of Representatives the People’s House.
SPEAKER 10 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
So that’s why they let the people select it.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 14 :
But, you know, she’s in such a conservative New York State district in upstate New York.
SPEAKER 10 :
The problem is, like you were saying, the timing of.
SPEAKER 14 :
The six months.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 14 :
I think it took… California almost six months to replace McCarthy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Gotcha.
SPEAKER 14 :
When he stepped down, which, you know. Hopefully we don’t have to deal, but that idiot Gates got reelected.
SPEAKER 10 :
Before I let you go, for the reminder, John, thank you. That was, of course, Ken Buck. He stepped down, and then we had the special election and all of that. So, yeah, we just went through that as a state. I’ve got to let you run, John. Appreciate it. Thank you for the correction. Mark, hang tight. I’ll do my best to get you in here really quick. Now back to Rush to Reason on KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, we are back. And the D-O-G-E, we said E was expense. It’s actually efficiency, although you could say that if you cut expenses, you’ll become more efficient. But the technical name is efficiency, so D-O-G-E. And, yeah, I know some of you reminded me that that was the Dodge coin, you know, was one of Elon Musk’s kind of brainchilds and so on. Is there any relation between the two? I don’t know. I don’t know. Who knows? I’m not in those circles. I have no clue if they think of one thing and apply it to the other. But the DOGE, Department of Government Efficiency, meaning that Elon and a team will get together and figure out what things can we cut in government to make things cost the taxpayer money. Less money. How do we make government more efficient? We all know that government, for the most part, is very inefficient in the things that it does. In fact, I can’t think of anything that it’s really – I hate to say this, but I can’t think of anything it’s actually efficient at. Printing money. Printing money, yeah. They’re very efficient at printing money. They can make those printing presses roll out, and they’re very efficient at that. Outside of printing money, is government efficient at anything? No. Maybe I’ll think of something at the break, but really I can’t think of anything right now. We’ll be back. Hour number two is next. Mark Bauerlein is going to join us. We’re going to talk about dismantling the Department of Education. That’s next. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560.

Tariffs, Truckers, and Tragedy: Politics Meets the Road
