A highlight of the conversation is the spotlight on Jack, a Gen Z voice with dreams set high in medical sciences, who speaks candidly about his journey from restaurant employee to a clinic intern. As the discussion unfolds, Tam John provides expert insights into the often-overlooked world of nutrition, highlighting the interplay between dietary choices and wellness,
SPEAKER 09 :
This is Rush to Reason. You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 18 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 09 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did! Get a job, Turk! You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 15 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 10 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 17 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush, presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 03 :
Welcome, listeners. It’s actually Dr. Scott filling in for John Rush on this Thursday afternoon here in beautiful Colorado. So I like to affectionately call this Hybrid Thursday because it’s not Health and Wellness Wednesday. It’s Thursday, but I don’t talk for three hours on politics like John does. We bring in the healthcare side of it, so it’s a hybrid. And today in the studio, I’ve got several guests with me. First guest, I have Jack. So Jack is one of our employees. I say ours, my wife and I’s. And the special thing about Jack is Jack is actually 17 years old. So he gives that view from the Gen Z side of things.
SPEAKER 19 :
Jack is actually a power lifter. Right. Yes, sir.
SPEAKER 01 :
So I am a North America champion for powerlifting. Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
And how did you come to work for me, Jack?
SPEAKER 01 :
So honestly, I just woke up one day. I was like, I’m tired of working at a lame restaurant. I started Googling and I saw your clinic. I decided to type up a resume that really showed who I was. I called you guys, brought in my resume. You weren’t available at the time. So I left and then you called me back, told me to come back. And I did, and then the rest is history.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. So listeners, as you’re driving home or you’re doing your work and just listening in the background, the reason why I hired Jack is because of that work ethic. Think about it. Here’s a 17-year-old high school student who doesn’t have a whole lot on his resume. Let’s face it. But the fact that he drove down to my clinic, he presented himself well. He spoke well. Now, I was in with the patient behind the door. So when I came out, my staff handed me his resume. I’m like, he did what? And so I called him. He was already 30 minutes back up north in the Englewood area. Yes, sir. I said, well, if you can come back down here, I will interview you. You actually turned your car around. You went and you presented yourself in front of me. I said, if that young man has that much guts and gumption, I have to hire him. Then what do you want to do for a living?
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah, so I have a great appreciation for endocrinology just through my personal medical trials and tribulations. And I want to be an endocrinologist and help people that whether they’re hypogonadal, have diabetes, that sort of thing. I just want to help them with that.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, so here’s a 17-year-old young man who already knows what he wants to do, well-spoken, and his knowledge around medicine at 17 is pretty phenomenal. So he’s going to be our expert when we talk about peptides, probably in the third hour. We’ll bring him into the conversation as we go, getting that Gen Z perspective. But I wanted everybody to understand who Jack is and why he’s so special and why I wanted to bring him into the studio and get that perspective from the Gen Z. So my other guest, I have two more, is Tam John. Tam and I have known each other for, I don’t know, five or six years.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
And you are a nutritionist.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 03 :
So is it nutritionist or registered dietitian?
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m a nutritionist, a functional nutritional therapy practitioner.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, say that fast three times. So Tam has helped me and my patients on their nutritional journey because those of you who know me, filling in for John now for quite some time, you understand that I stay in my lane. I know what I know. I do what I do very, very well. But there are things that I’m not an expert in. And traditional medical school and residency don’t teach us about nutrition. The only reason why I know so much is because when I was younger, when I was Jack’s age, I used to lift weights. And so I would read muscle and fitness. And our bodybuilders, they are really in tune to what they eat and what they put in their body. So just based on that is where I got a lot of my nutritional background, but I’m not an expert. So now with the semaglutide and terzeptide, everybody’s on it, everybody’s losing weight. I don’t either have the time to spend with every single patient to give them exactly what they need or help them along this journey. So that’s where TAM comes into play. And I felt like I was doing a disservice to my patients not being able to help them more because I only have so much time in a day. So what we’ve decided to do is create a program where TAM will be in my office on Wednesday afternoons. And so if you want that expert knowledge of, okay, Dr. Faulkner told me I needed a protein shake because I hear protein is really good when you’re on these medicines. Which protein shake? What does that look like? So that’s where you come in, right, Tam?
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s right. My job is to help people on a personalized level. So if Jack did ask me for guidance, for instance, what I would tell him would be different than someone else who’s in a different age group, has a different activity level. And we have to always look at what’s in it. So there’s so much about our food system that is very confusing, leading us to think that we’re making the healthy choice. But that’s really marketing. And it’s not backed up by what’s in it and how our personal preferences play into making it sustainable and delicious and doable every day.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s exactly right. And we’re going to get into the nutritional side. We’re going to talk the semaglutide. We’re going to talk the terzeptide later in this hour. I kind of have an outline of where I want this conversation to go. So if you’re driving and you’re like, oh, I want to really hear that, don’t forget that you can always go back and listen to this radio program. on 560 KLZ, Rush to Reason. Charlie will have it posted later this evening. And if you missed something because you’re driving or you’re busy or something like that. So we’ve got a great lineup. I highly encourage you if you missed that to go back and listen to it tonight. And then we have Brian. So those of you might remember Brian. Brian is my friend. And he’s been in the stem cell space for, what, 25 years now? Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Over 25 now. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. And it’s always a pleasure to be with you.
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, thank you. And so Brian knows a lot of things about a lot of things because he’s an OG, an old guy.
SPEAKER 08 :
Old guy, yes.
SPEAKER 03 :
And so I like getting his perspective because he’s much older than me back when he wrote A Dinosaur to School. So it’s great to get both ends of the spectrum from Jack and young people like Tam and then Brian over here.
SPEAKER 08 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 03 :
So before we take the first break – I want to take this time to breathe a sigh of relief because the last time we were on air, it was right before the election. And we had Regina, and unfortunately Regina could not be with us today, Regina Nabrit, and she is an expert in mental health. And I had made the comment how you could feel this heaviness in the country, that everybody was on pins and needles. We didn’t know what was going to happen. So she helped us deal with some of that anxiety, those emotions. And I really appreciate that. Now we’ve had our election and we’ve actually, we, the good Lord has saved our country, right? Because it was going to get ugly if it had gone the other way, if they had stolen this election. So first off, we need to get on our knees and thank God that he has chosen to spare this nation one more time. And I look at my daughters and my sons and knowing that they will actually have a country, that we’re not communist, we’re not socialist. But the battle’s not over, folks. Yes, we’re happy that President Trump is in position of power again coming in January. But this is a spiritual battle. And I had this conversation with my daughter, and she was like, Dad, why do people get so crazy and think the way they think? And I said, baby, you know the answer, because this is a spiritual battle. Ephesians tell us we battle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities. So this is spiritual warfare. You’re either on the side of Christ or you’re Satan’s seed. And when you understand that, you understand the reaction of almost half of America. And why they’re so animated and so angry and why, oh, I have to be able to kill a baby in the womb when I want to. Because to me in my brain, it’s like that doesn’t make sense. When you understand it’s a spiritual battle, you understand where this is coming from. So our battle is just beginning, folks, and we need to still up our spine. As Christians, especially in the state of Colorado, because this is not a good place to be, but it’s where we’ve been planted. It’s where we’ve chosen to make our stand. We need to still our spine. We need to be bold. But we need to make sure that the people who have perpetrated some of these crimes against us need to be held accountable. It’s called justice. Jack and I had this conversation on the way over. I said, imagine a parent who their kid, Johnny, keeps acting up. He’s five or six years old. And mom looks over and says, Johnny, knock it off. Johnny looks at her and keeps doing it. She’s like, okay, Johnny, stop that. Johnny looks at her, keeps doing it. She says, I’m going to count to three. One, two, and she never gets to three. Johnny has just learned that there are no consequences to his mom’s threats. On the converse, if mom really loved Johnny, she would just say, I told you once, walk over there and pop his little backside. He would then learn there’s a consequence to my actions and he would not do it again, right? That’s what a loving parent does. So we need to hold these people accountable in love. But make sure that justice prevails so that the next Nancy Pelosi who decides to pull a January 6th or pull troops or whatever, do insider trading, will think twice before they try and steal another election. So that was my rant that I wanted to do for the first segment. Introduce everybody. Go on that. And then we’re going to take a break, and then we’re going to come back, and then we’re going to get more into the medical side of things where I’ll calm myself down. So you’re listening to Dr. Scott filling in for John Rush, 560 KLZ.
SPEAKER 07 :

SPEAKER 16 :
No liberal media bias here. This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 03 :
Welcome back, listeners. It’s Dr. Scott Faulkner filling in for John Rush, 560 KLZ, on this beautiful Thursday afternoon. If you want to participate, the telephone number is 303-477-5600. 303-477-5600. If you want to participate in today’s discussion, that’d be fabulous. I heard my commercial during the break. So I want to announce that we’re actually having a special, those who are thinking of stem cells, because we’re getting close to the end of the year, right? So people have money on their FSA and HSA accounts and you have to use it. So instead of buying a whole case of toothpaste and band-aids that you don’t really need in Neosporin, we actually take FSA and HSA in our office. And I once again have more doctors coming in. I have Dr. Cindy Pena coming in from Sacramento that I will be training on November 25th, 26th, and 27th. And I have Dr. Victor coming out of Los Angeles. So, yes, I’m expanding my footprint because people are looking for this alternative to the standard medical care. And I need to make sure these doctors are adequately trained. I will be there. I will be holding their hand, making sure that they’re doing well. So the special is if you call and get stem cells on one of those days, 25th, 26th, and 27th of November with Dr. Cindy, or the December 13th and 14th, I’m going to give you 25% off. And those of you who have been listening for a long time know I never discount stem cells. So this is your opportunity before the end of the year to use your HSA, FSA, and get those stem cells that are going to regenerate your knees, your hip, your shoulder, general conditions, MS, Lou Gehrig’s, Parkinson’s, ulcerative colitis, you name it, there’s pretty much anything that I can’t treat. Also remember, for those of you from the FDA, that yes, these cells are off-label. It’s an off-label use, right? They’ve been approved for blood cancer disorders, leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma for over 30 years, but I have to tell you it’s an off-label use when I use them to regenerate your knees and other body parts. So give us a call at 303-663-6990. So TAM, semaglutide and turzeptide, it’s the bomb. Everybody is now doing it, right? At first you had the early adopters who they would do it quietly and not tell their friends that, hey, I’m doing this. And then suddenly they show up and they’re like, hey, you’re 40 pounds lighter. Right. Now that stigma is pretty much gone. There are still some people who are a little reluctant, but it’s taking America especially because we have an obesity crisis by storm. We now know some of the health benefits of these medications, which is if you lose a kilogram of weight, which is 2.2 pounds, you drop your blood pressure by a millimeter of mercury. So the more weight loss you get, the better your blood pressure does. I’ve gotten several patients off of their antihypertensive medications because they’ve lost 30, 40, 50 pounds.
SPEAKER 05 :
That is significant for health.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s huge, right? And so Big Pharma doesn’t like that part of it. But as a practitioner, if I can reduce your risk of heart attacks and strokes with this medicine, because you feel kind of torn as a doctor. It’s like, do I give you this medicine? I would really like you to do this naturally. But the fact of the matter is people are struggling, especially women. I can’t tell you how many phone calls I field in a day And they’re like, I’ve tried everything. I went to my doctor and they said, well, eat less and exercise more. And it’s like, I can’t. And they’re doing everything they can. Now, maybe part of that is is not healthy choices. A lot of these processed foods are sabotaging their effort. But a lot of these ladies, they’re doing it right. Right. They’re eating clean. Right. So We do know that these medicines will decrease cardiovascular events, especially in type 2 diabetics. It improves your cholesterol profile. It helps women who have polycystic ovary syndrome become fertile again. It’s multifactorial, and Brian, you can attest to this, that we need to make sure that the hormones are okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
Absolutely, yes.
SPEAKER 03 :
And then the thyroid.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 03 :
also needs to be checked. So that’s where a lot of doctors and med spas kind of fall short. But from the nutritional side, I want to get your take, Tam, as an expert on do you think it’s because people are eating so much ultra-processed foods or what do you think is sabotaging, I guess, a lot of these people’s weight loss goals, efforts?
SPEAKER 05 :
certainly I think ultra ultra processed foods are an issue. There is so much mischief that I referred to earlier in the labeling telling us that they are healthy, uh, that they’re keto, that they’re, they’re this or they’re that. But in reality, um, they’re, they’re not, um, because the ingredients that went into them are laden with chemicals and those things are really hard for the body to process and to assimilate any true nutrition. Um, And I think we have to balance as well as we’re aging. Getting enough protein is a real challenge. Sarcopenia, which is a muscle wasting, essentially can be a very regular experience with people who think that they’re eating well just because of how our body is not supporting that natural muscle mass. Yeah. And when we look at cardiovascular health, we must remember that the heart is a muscle.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
So we need the adequate protein, but we also need the complex carbohydrates. So it all works together. And there are a lot of ways to do that that are really delicious and easy. And we can still have our packaged food. But just by making simple swaps can be so supportive in taking a burden off of our body.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, because if you listen to Callie and Casey Means, right, so Casey was a Stanford-trained ear, nose, and throat physician. In her fifth year of ENT residency, she quit. I don’t know if you’ve watched that Tucker Carlson interview with her and her brother.
SPEAKER 05 :
I heard her on Megyn Kelly.
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, okay, fair enough. And her brother worked for Big Pharma. And so their take is that any processed food is basically bad. It’s junk. So how do you counter that?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, we’re living in the real world. And so if we do a nice and easy transformation, so where the personalized approach comes in is really looking at what a person is consuming. And if everything is ultra-processed, and if they’re getting their food from a window, I won’t pick on any particular windows. Chick-fil-A. Okay. Or, you know, so many of them. But if they’re getting their food from a window, it is really a malnourishment situation, right? So it can be a real big shock to the body. To look at what another person says now this is a healthy balanced meal with a pile of vegetables and or, you know, so on and so forth that can be really challenging for the body to really assimilate and digest and the lifestyle has to change to being food ready like that and so on and so forth. So I believe that if we support our personal nutritional profile with like a 1% improvement, true 1% sustainable improvement even switching from a very poor quality ultra processed food to something that is actually made with real food ingredients and it’s certified organic and there can be a lot of components that make that better that it gives our body such an easier time to keep us healthy to get us healthy to move us in that right direction and
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, because this ultra-processed foods. Last time we were on, Brian, if you recall, I gave the history that it was the tobacco industry when profits were starting to shrink in the 80s. They started looking around, and they bought companies like Kraft and Nabisco, and they told their scientists, we want highly addictive foods. We don’t care about the nutritional content. We want it addictive. So is that exactly what you’re talking about?
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s exactly it. The excitotoxins is kind of a label over a group of those ingredients. And it’s things that might be labeled natural flavoring. So you think you’re making a good choice. It’s natural flavoring. But the authorities allow for very unnatural substances to be in those products and they ping the brain and it creates this insatiable eating. So we can get to that bottom of the bag or the box and we’re only done because they’re gone. but our body is left wanting more because it’s not nourished. And the nutrients are what signal to the body of I’m good.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. So Jack, you’re over here nodding your head. So you know all this at 17?
SPEAKER 01 :
I mean, from a person that has lost 40 pounds without Ozempic and that sort of thing, the simple switches from eating Pop-Tarts and eating those microwavable white castle burgers from King Soopers to whole foods such as spinach, salads, all that sort of stuff, natural ground beef, all that sort of stuff. It’s, It’s kind of crazy how much you can eat without knowing it, especially those processed foods. You eat a whole box and then you’re like, I’m still hungry. I’m going to go eat a box of granola bars. The mind just doesn’t understand that you’re eating so much and so many calories, but it’s all empty calories. And once you start eating those real foods, then it’s a game changer.
SPEAKER 19 :
That’s fabulous. So we have a caller, Greg. I’m going to hold you over.
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m going to take a break right now. It’s at the bottom of the hour. And then when we come back, I’m going to take your call next. OK, so you’re listening to Dr. Scott and friends here on 560 KLZ. We’ll be right back.

Now, back to Rush to Reason, presented by Hi-5 Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 03 :
Welcome back, listeners. It’s Dr. Scott Faulkner filling in for John Rush, my three friends around the table. I’ve got Jack, I’ve got Tam John here, I’ve got Brian. We were talking about using semaglutide and terazeptide to help my patients with their weight loss, improve blood pressure, other cardiovascular risk factors. And Greg is calling from Castle Rock. He has a question. So, Greg, what’s your question?
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, I’m currently on some medications to help me, I guess, curb cravings and to help me with weight loss. Been on it for about three months and really not seeing a change in my weight. And I was just wondering, is there anything you can suggest that I can help get this on a better path to lose weight, considering the fact that diabetes and heart disease falls in my family’s gene pool.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. Absolutely. And that’s why I offer that free consultation for folks just like yourself. You’re stuck. You’re like, I’ve tried everything. I’m trying to eat well. I’m trying to do some exercise. I have a life. I’ve got to make a living. It’s tough at the end of the day. What else can I do? And so that’s why I offer that free consultation. So if you want to call the office, the 303-663-6990. And we can either be on the phone or if you have time, you can come into the office. And that way I can get into the nuts and bolts because obviously we don’t have time on this phone call. But I can analyze what is your medications. They may be sabotaging you. What else are you doing in your life? And then bring in Tam on the nutritional side to see if you’re sabotaging yourself that way. So there’s a lot of things that we can do, but it’s going to take some time, and that’s why I want to give you the luxury of that 30-minute free consultation. Sweet. All right, Greg. We look forward to seeing you in the office. Thank you. All righty, sir. Thank you very much. You’re welcome. And we have Walt on the other line. So, Walt, what question do you have? Hi, Doc. Scott, how are you? I’m doing great. Thank you, Walt.
SPEAKER 10 :
Hey, I have a question for you. In regards to the bioengineered ingredient that’s in our food, is that related to GMO, and what does it do to our body?
SPEAKER 03 :
So, Tam, you’re our expert. You and Jack.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, thank you. I think it’s worse than GMO. It’s really about chemicals that are in the food that aren’t labeled. A lot of it has to do, I’ll say, the best of intentions to feed a large population that is not involved in growing GMO. But as time goes on, the addition of the chemicals that maybe were initially said to be included for preservation, like glyphosate in grains. So the statistic I know is about 99% of the grains in North America that are not grown organically are sprayed with glyphosate at the time of harvest for preservation. So it’s showing up in foods that we consider American staples, like our, I’ll say, beloved Cheerios, Quaker oat products, and a lot of the cereals that are on the shelves. So that’s the source of it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, so what’s the name brand of Life Office?
SPEAKER 05 :
Roundup.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, so it’s the weed killer.
SPEAKER 10 :
Wow, so you’re telling me BioWood is Roundup.
SPEAKER 05 :
It can be. It’s one aspect of it. I don’t know that it’s always everything that is the bioengineering, because if we talk about how food is engineered to create an insatiable eating and this addictive cycle, so that really plays into other chemicals like MSG that can be hidden in natural flavoring.
SPEAKER 03 :
What’s your tyrosine? Yellow dye number five. That’s what RFK. Red 40. Yeah, red 40.
SPEAKER 01 :
Red 40 is insanely bad for you, and people don’t really realize that.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know, Tammy, let me say something. You know, once I took my son off of the artificial flavors and colors and the food dyes, I got him off his ADH medicine in less than six months. Imagine that.
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s incredible.
SPEAKER 10 :
He struggles with it still, but he’s able to maintain it. and keep it under control and stay focused and on task. I mean, it’s just amazing.
SPEAKER 05 :
And what a great gift to give him because ultimately those things are, you know, now it was emerging as ADHD, for instance, but down the road, who’s to say that that couldn’t evolve into being a root cause of cancer, for instance. So it’s just a wonderful gift to give your family. And what we do at the clinic is really helping people to understand Do a nice and easy and a personalized approach, because if you tend to look at how to start and make the changes, where to begin and how to keep your brain on track, because your brain really it’s addictive. So that’s why we do a nice and easy kind of approach to make it sustainable for you and your family.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, good for you, Walt. God bless you for doing that for your son.
SPEAKER 10 :
He does a lot of breathing exercises too, Tammy, because sometimes he’ll hyperventilate, and he just needs to live in the moment, live in the now.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, he’s got a great dad.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, thank you, Walt, for the call. We really appreciate it. You’re welcome. Have a good day. You too. So, Brian, before we get deeper into ultra-processed foods, yellow dyes, seed oils, all that stuff, you had a journey or the journey that you’re on. You wanted to talk about that. So go ahead and expand on it.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, was it Greg was our first caller?
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah, Greg was our first caller. It was Greg. Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
He had mentioned the fact that he had been on one of the weight loss drugs, and he didn’t say which one it was. It doesn’t really matter, but that he had seen either he hadn’t seen any results. I think it was an appetite suppressant. Suppressant as opposed to Ozempic or… Chizepatide.
SPEAKER 03 :
Chizepatide.
SPEAKER 08 :
At any rate, long story short, I had been on the Trizepatide. Actually, it was on Ozempic initially. Didn’t see a lot of results with it. Had some weight loss, but seemed to stall. So Dr. Scott recommended a complete spectrum hormone evaluation. And what we found was kind of interesting. I was actually on a testosterone supplement that was doing nothing for me. So we ended up going to a compounding pharmacy, developed our own tremendously different results. I’ve seen 15 to probably 20 pounds of weight loss now. just in the last three months. So hormones are not just for women. It’s a good evaluation, I think, for everyone. And Dr. Scott was right on point when he said we need to evaluate this and see if there’s a reason why this weight loss has stalled. So
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, it could be the thyroid as well. So it’s multifactorial. Sometimes it’s not just one reason. So we have to look at everything. It’s not just throwing medicine at people. I know everybody wants a quick fix, but we need a – that was one of the nice things. A lot of folks don’t know my full background is my third year of medical school, I went to London, England. And that was one of the best gifts I ever had because in the socialized medicine system – In the UK, we didn’t scan everybody. Now, I’m talking in the early 90s. We actually touched patients with our hands. We actually listened to them. And they had a mantra that if you listen to a patient’s story, by the time they’re done, if you don’t know what’s wrong, you missed it. Go back and take the history again. So that’s why I’m such a keen listener, and I actually put hands on my patients. We’re not trained that way in the United States. It’s, oh, scan this. Oh, you don’t know. Here, send this person off to a specialist. We compartmentalize the human body. Well, everything is interplaying, right? In your case, your testosterone was sabotaging your weight loss, and the semaglutide wasn’t really working. Now, it didn’t mean we couldn’t give you a GLP-1. It’s just it was not enough. It wasn’t the right combination for you.
SPEAKER 08 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
But it’s working well now, and I’m 15 pounds from target weight.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Thank you.
SPEAKER 03 :
So, Tam, back to what this gentleman was saying is that we as Americans should be pissed at our politicians as well as big ag, right? Yes. And big pharma. Because what they have done to our bodies, our children’s bodies, is absolutely criminal.
SPEAKER 05 :
I think it is. And there’s so much collusion. The people who make the, let’s see, how does it go? The pharma and the growers and the people who decide what the food pyramid is going to look like that now has a category for ultra processed foods. They’re all in this together. And it sounds very conspiratorial. But this is the result that we’re getting is that. And there’s this collusion of recommending that you can have a certain number of ultra processed food servings per day, that a certain amount of Cheerios with glyphosate in them is okay. And this is a story that was out a few years ago. And then earlier this year, I saw it again. But now I think to try to find it on the internet is really challenging. But at the time, they were arguing about how much glyphosate is OK. Well, for me, any amount of Roundup in my gut is not okay.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, we know it can lead to leukemia, lymphoma, all sorts of nasty things.
SPEAKER 05 :
It is tied to all sorts of cancer now. And it’s been banned in Europe for quite a number of years.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. So now you said growers. Now, what I would like is if you’re a farmer out on the plains and you’re listening to this, I want your expert opinion on does big ag force you guys to use a certain seed or a certain chemical? I’m not an expert in growing wheat or whatever. So if there is somebody listening out there, you want to give us a call, 303-477-5600. We’ll put you to the top of the line. And I want to hear before we go and castigate all of our farmers because I love our farmers. I love our ranchers. But if you’re part of this conspiracy – that you’ve got something to answer for, but I want to hear it from the horse’s mouth, okay? So we’re going to take a break right now, and when we come back, we’ll carry on this conversation and talk about RFK Jr. and what he’s going to do to the healthcare industry and get a Gen Z perspective on that. So you’re listening to 560 KLZ, Rush to Reason. Dr. Scott Faulkner filling in for John Rush. We’ll be right back.
SPEAKER 14 :
Veteran Windows and Doors challenge you to ask every window and door salesperson about the ratings of their windows and doors. Owner Dave Bancroft knows other window and door companies are trained only to sell, not on whether their windows are even engineered for your home. Dave has an app where he can show you the exact door the other company showed you, but Dave will also include the correct efficiency ratings and codes necessary for your home. The other companies’ doors often don’t meet code, energy-efficient ratings, or give you crucial tax credits on your products. Also, Veterans installation methods are far stricter than other companies. They do more flashing, sealing, and installation than is required to ensure your windows and doors are going to work the way they’re supposed to. And Veteran now offers financing. Get 40% off and free installation when working with Veteran windows and doors by going to klzradio.com.

SPEAKER 18 :
It’s time to leave your safe space. This is Rush to Reason on KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 03 :
Welcome back, listeners. It’s Dr. Scott and friends on this hybrid Thursday. Filling in for John Rush. I call it a hybrid because we’re talking medicine. We’re talking politics. We’re covering all the bases. So, Jack, I wanted to turn to you. Because you said something, this is crazy, because you work for me. I did not know that you lost 40 pounds before you came to work for me. Yes, sir, I did. So a lot of our listeners, they have teenage sons and daughters, right? And they’re maybe struggling with their weight. A lot of this has to go with all the junk that’s in the food. We’re talking about that. We’re going to continue to talk about this. But maybe there’s a parent out there or a kid listening saying, well, how did Jack do that?
SPEAKER 01 :
How can I be a Jack? Yeah. So I especially see this on social media of people having these ideas of being obese to be okay. It’s like, they’re like, Oh, what do I eat in a day as an overweight person? And they almost glory, like they fantasize about the idea of just like being different and being fatter than everybody else. But in all reality, if you’re not healthier than majority of the people you’re not going to be above the rest so what i say to all those kids and all the people listening is that if you want to be the best version of yourself you have to put your health first and if you don’t put your health first then everything else is going to lack whether that’s your mind your body and all that sort of stuff you can’t you have to fuel your body with the proper nutrients and if you don’t do that everything else is going to lack in your life Okay, so how do you do that? So what I did is I realized one day I was working out with my cousin in California. He had the life. He had a girlfriend. He was in high school. He had all these things that I wanted. He was just very successful. I thought back to that and I was like, what can I do to change? So when I got back to Colorado, I stopped eating as much. I tracked my calories. I tracked my macros and I eat eight whole foods and I swapped out all my processed foods for whole foods. And this really changed the game. I mean, once I got my diet nailed in and. dialed in everything clicked my mind my mind fired off like never before i was very calm i was very composed with everything i did previously i would just sit in my room and play video games for hours on end but now i go out i read i study and that’s what i like to do instead of sit at home and play video games with my friends
SPEAKER 19 :
Fantastic. So for the audience who doesn’t know, they’re driving home right now, what is a macro?
SPEAKER 01 :
So a macro is a macronutrient. So that consists of carbs, proteins, and fats. A carb is four calories, a protein is four calories, and a fat is nine calories. And so when you track your calories, a lot of people overeat because they don’t know that they’re overeating. I know that I didn’t track my calories for the first 14 years of my life and then once I got back I downloaded MyFitnessPal and I tracked a full day of eating of what I normally ate and I realized that I was eating well over 6,000 calories and it was all processed foods. So then I realized and I started narrowing it down and I realized my calorie maintenance level for the day. And then I started going into a calorie deficit. And then for people that can’t seem to get into that point, they can use the semaglutide and chirozepatide while using a calorie deficit. And that will greatly improve weight loss.
SPEAKER 03 :
Now I’ve met your dad have met your mom yet. Your dad is a hard charger was in the Air Force went to the Air Force Academy as a pilot. He lets you eat 6000 calories of processed food a day.
SPEAKER 01 :
Um, so actually it wasn’t him letting me do that. I would just, when I would go to his house, um, we had this Nutella jar and it was like, it was a once a week thing. We would wake up on a Sunday afternoon or Sunday morning and we would have a Nutella sandwich like as a treat. But then at night I would go out and go out of my room and I would have that Nutella over and over and I would just overeat of the, foods that I was already eating. So cheese, cereal, all that sort of stuff. Like you said, Cheerios and Quaker. Those highly addictive food. Yep, because I I didn’t get full I was never full because I was eating these processed foods and I always would figure out a way to get some sort of money and then when my mom would go to work during the summer, I would literally bike down to the King Soopers with $15 and I would see how much candy and like sugar that I could get and it was it and It sounds crazy when I say it, but, I mean, it’s the truth, and that’s how my life was led for those 14 years.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s incredible. So, Tam, this is exactly what you’re talking about, how the food industry, the big tobacco started this, having their scientists create highly addictive processed foods that have no nutritional value whatsoever, and our kids are paying the price.
SPEAKER 05 :
They are paying the price. And I’m curious, it’s so remarkable what you did for yourself. Did you just make that transformation overnight?
SPEAKER 01 :
Um, no, actually, I started going to the gym three times a week from not going at all and sitting in my house all day. So I started going three times a week. And then after that, I became addicted to seeing my body transform into what I always dreamed of. And so then from now on, and continuing, I work out at least six, six days a week. And so uphill from there.
SPEAKER 05 :
Did you change your diet overnight or was that a gradual less of that and more of this?
SPEAKER 01 :
It was definitely more gradual. The ultra processed foods, I switched to, say, lower calorie like fiber one bars and the protein chips and that sort of thing. I switched it from Doritos to protein chips. I switched it from normal general protein. oatmeal bars to protein bars. I switched it from protein, protein powder to natural grass fed, um, beef. And so like all that sort of stuff. And it’s not, it’s definitely not an overnight thing, but it’s definitely something that you want to have changed and you can have it changed.
SPEAKER 05 :
I think that’s a smart way to do it because I think it’s easier on your body and easier on your brain to go gradually because you really are dealing with an addiction or you were, do you eat any ultra processed food now?
SPEAKER 01 :
Yes, I do. Sometimes I’ll go out to eat with my friends and that’s the only option I have. Like Chick-fil-A or like I go to the airport or I’m traveling like this last month. I’ve probably had Chick-fil-A about seven times, which… In retrospect, that is not good for me. But when I do go to those places, those fast food restaurants, I opt in for the grilled. Sure. I opt in for the diet soda or that sort of thing, because you can those small little calories can add up pretty quick.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I think it’s realistic because we’re all living in the real world. And I think if we go too overboard in trying to be too perfect, and I’m thinking there’s a name for that, I’m remembering orthorexia, and that’s where you’re scared to eat anything that’s not on the diet or anything that’s not within your new standard of healthy, that that’s really a dangerous thing that you can really, you know, falter in the… unhealthy direction. It becomes a mental obsession.
SPEAKER 01 :
So yeah, it’s more of an eating disorder. I feel like something that also helped me was I got COVID. So I lost all my taste and all those cravings. But that still was there. I was still eating all that stuff because I was still addicted to the ultra processed foods. You can’t you can’t shake that in one night. It’s definitely a battle that you have to face.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right. I wanted to ask you about the water, if I may, because water is a macronutrient as well. And a lot of people don’t realize that. But where does water figure into your routine?
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah, so as I am talking right now, I have a gallon jug right next to me that I carry around school. People always ask me, they’re like, do you actually drink that much water? And I honestly and can confidently say I drink at least one and a half gallons a day. What I like to do is I like to add flavoring like creatine into it, and that really helps the water go down more because it kind of can get boring. But with water, I mean, water helps your brain. I feel like my brain fog goes away. I feel better. My bloating goes away. Say I have a big meal, my bloating evaporates at that point. My body just functions way better when I’m well hydrated. My workouts are way better and everything is great.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s fabulous. What about your parents? So obviously you made this conscious decision on your own. What happened to your parents? Because they’re the ones buying you the food, right?
SPEAKER 01 :
So it wasn’t really them. It wasn’t them buying. All credit to my parents. My parents are great people. They’re amazing. But me and my mom had a weight loss transformation. She would… We would go out to eat all the time. We would always have these ultra-processed foods and go and do all that sort of stuff. But then we had that change, and we switched our diet. We changed all that sort of stuff, and then we both lost weight together as more of a buddy-companion thing, and we changed in that sense. So it wasn’t like my parents were purposely trying to poison me because they didn’t know. dangers of that stuff.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. That’s fabulous that your mom could be with you on this journey. We’ll pick this up on the other side. We’ve got a hard break now at the top of the hour. So you’re listening to Dr. Scott Faulkner and friends on five 60 KLZ hybrid Thursday, as I call it. And we’ll be back at the top of the next hour.
SPEAKER 09 :
Average guys. Average guys.
