SPEAKER 04 :
This is Rush to Reason. You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 09 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job, sir.
SPEAKER 02 :
You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 07 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 04 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 12 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush, presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 13 :
Okay, welcome back. Hour number two, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. We might have a special guest joining us here in a moment. We’ll see. In the meantime, this question comes up a ton. Always when it gets super cold out, and right now that’s happening in multiple parts of the country, but… The old question of how long should you let your car, the engine itself, warm up before you drive it? And I was reminded of this from one of our great listeners this morning who sent me a video on somebody commenting on this, asking me, is this right? Is it wrong? And this particular video, the guy’s pretty much correct. I mean, there’s a couple of little things maybe I would advise differently, but all in all… Good video. And here’s the answer. And, again, my answers are always different than what a lot of the quote-unquote experts will give because I went through this in the years past. And some of the experts out there, quote-unquote, will say, you don’t have to warm it up at all. Just get it and drive. Well, not so fast. Now, let me put a caveat behind all of this. It depends on how cold it is. If it’s 30 degrees out and you want to hop in the car and go, go. If it’s 20 even, it might let it warm up for a few seconds, 15, 20, 30 seconds, and then go. If it’s zero out, like we had over the weekend, where it can be minus zero, that one I’m one where I think you need to warm it up a little longer than what a lot of folks out there would tell you. To me, again, it’s based upon the temperature. Are you parked outside? Are you parked inside? And so on. Now, even at zero degrees, how long do you need to let your engine warm up? If it’s a modern car, I mean, anything in the fleet today, 13, 14 years of age or newer, not long. Three, four minutes. You know, get the juices flowing, if you would. Power steering, transmission, engine oil, of course, all of that. And they say the best way to get things, you know, warmed up is to put a light load on the car so you’ve got the ability to drive it safely, meaning you’ve got your windows closed. all clear and so on. And for me, the best way to do that is to go ahead and get the car started, then clean all your windows and such off. By the time your windows and such are cleaned off, you’re pretty much ready to go at that point. Now, if you want to sit there and let things warm up a little bit, that’s your call. Are you harming anything in doing so? No, not a thing. Do you have to sit there and let things warm up to operating temperature? No, you don’t. If you want to go ahead and start driving sanely, you don’t want to get in there and just floor it and do stupid things like that. But if you want to drive sanely when engine isn’t fully warmed up, then you know what? Be my guest. Feel free to do so. Not a problem. Enjoy yourself. Now, there’s a lot of quote-unquote experts out there that would tell you that, yeah, no, you just need to get in there, fire it up. As soon as things are fired up and rolling, off you go. Again, especially in those really cold temperatures, I’m not one to say that. And would I consider myself an automotive expert? Yes, I am. And I would argue with some of these guys that tell you that you ought to just get in and go because, no, I don’t think that’s the way to do things. There’s things even on the engine itself that I think need to have a little bit of warm-up time before you just put it in gear and go. Let some of those fluids circulate and start operating like they need to before you just fire things off. And sitting there at idle and the engine’s going to be at a higher idle because you know, the computer and someone knows that’s how cold it is. And it’s going to have a higher idle, just like in the old days with chokes, that’s what they would do. And it’s going to know that. And as things warm up, the idle will naturally come down because the computer controls all of that. But at the end of the day, how long do you need to warm your vehicle up? And here’s, here’s the answer. It depends. It depends. And by the way, that’s not an answer all the experts give because they want to give you a direct answer. I’ll be straight up honest. It depends. It depends on the car. It depends on the make, the model. Is it a diesel engine? Is it a gas engine? To me, there’s a lot of factors here. It’s not as cut and dried as what everybody would think. Because a lot of guys will just say, you know, put it in gear, you know, lightly get on the throttle, you start going down the road, let things warm up that way, and you’re good to go. Maybe. Yeah, that could be. I’m not saying it’s a wrong answer, but is that the right answer for everyone? No, it’s not. What if you have an older vehicle? Again, there’s all sorts of factors that come into play here that a lot of the what I feel the quote unquote experts will tell you aren’t. Honestly, they’re not experts. They think they’re experts, but they’re not. And I always say it this way, too. Last but not least, and I don’t want anybody to ever forget this. You know what? You do you. If you want the car a little warmer because you feel like it’s better for you as a driver and you enjoy it better that way because you’ve got things warmed up and you’re not sitting there in freezing cold temperature inside the car, then you know what? You do you. Have fun. You’re not bothering anybody. You can’t puff in certain cities. That’s the one thing that you have to be careful of. And what I mean by puffing is you can’t let the car sit in idle. It has to have a remote start. In other words, the car has to be completely inoperable. If somebody were to get in the vehicle, it shuts down. Otherwise, you can’t puff, quote unquote. Meaning, and they’ll give you a ticket in some cases for that. And by the way, it’s very well known that if you puff, chances of your car getting stolen are high. especially in certain areas of town. So do I advise against puffing? Yes, don’t puff. Gone are the days where you could go outside, scrape your windows, fire your car up, go back inside, have a cup of coffee, and come back out. You can do what I just said, but you may not come back out to a car. You may have your cup of coffee, but you may not have a car. And I’m not exaggerating in what I’m saying. i read some things over the weekend where uh the the majority of cars stolen over the weekend were coming from puffers because they’re easy keys are in it it’s running it’s it’s idling ready to go they hop in and drive off and literally they can watch you do that and you’re going in for your cup of coffee or to grab your bag or your purse or your briefcase or whatever it happens to be and then voila they take off in the car so yeah do not puff Not worth it. You’re liable to lose the car. If you’re going to warm the car up, then do what I just said and do it that way. Now, last but not least, and this is something that the experts never talk about, but I do constantly. If you have a garage, which not everybody does, but some do. If you have a garage, throw your crap out and park in the garage. And then everything I’m talking about doesn’t matter. Because you can just get in the car and go. And it’s, by the way, it’s really nice. I get it. This is a first world problem we’re talking about. Man, there is nothing nicer than parking inside of a garage on a super cold day and being able to just raise the door and leave and not have to do anything. And it’s funny, none of the experts ever talk about that. And I can tell you, the majority of people that can’t park in the garage, there’s only one reason they can’t. They have too much crap. They haven’t gone through and thrown their junk away. Because there’s junk in the garage. That’s why they can’t park in it. Because it’s full of junk. So my feelings are, throw your junk away, park in the garage. Not that difficult. So how long should you let your car warm up? Real answer is it depends. Depends on what you’re driving. Literally depends on how cold it is outside. There’s lots of factors. There’s not a single direct answer that you can go do this and then drive off. It is a variation. And for some of you that have specific questions, specific vehicles, you’re always welcome to reach out, ask me. I’ll give you my opinion on your particular vehicle and how long you should let that car warm up before you actually get in and drive it. But again, I am one that to answer this question, It’s very much a huge variable, and there isn’t a solid single answer for the masses that are out there. Veteran Windows and Doors up next. SPEAKER 13 :
All right, somebody also mentioned a moment ago that even a unheated, uninsulated garage parking in it is still better than parking outside in the cold when it comes to the vehicle and the warm-up and so on. Very true statement. Absolutely. Yes, I would agree with that wholeheartedly. Even some of you that might have… Believe it or not, even carports and things like that, they will actually make things a tad warmer than they would be otherwise because they protect from the elements, the wind and so on. So, yeah, if you’ve got any ability at all to keep things more buttoned up, I guess you could say, by all means, do so. And, yeah, thank you, by the way, for those particular comments. Somebody also said a moment ago in relation to my choir boy comments earlier that, you know, just because you’re a choir boy doesn’t mean you don’t make mistakes. Very true. But you understand where I’m going with the whole choir boy, you know, presentation of things. And you guys know what I’m talking about. And this person did as well. That was more of a tongue in cheek thing than anything else. So bottom line, really quick back to the whole, you know, how long should you let your vehicle warm up? It really does depend. And somebody also mentioned, and I think this is true, the majority of the remote starts, especially the ones from the factory, will let the vehicle run about 10 minutes and automatically shuts off. A, I think they just do that for fuel consumption reasons and so on, and there’s a timer on it, but it’ll let it run about 10 minutes, and then it shuts off. And I am not, I will repeat, I am not a fan of aftermarket remote starts. In fact, I hate them. So if your car didn’t come with one from the factory, yeah, sorry. You’re out of luck. I would not install one. After the fact. Just me. I don’t like the aftermarket ones. I think they’re junk, to be honest with you. So I was going to talk about this last hour and ran out of time because of all the things we were talking about in regards to Minnesota. But this is regarding Minnesota as well. And this is Omar, Ilhan Omar, who… It’s amazing when you look at some of what she’s done financially speaking with her husband, brother. Did she marry the brother, Charlie? Is that a rumor or is that really true? Did she actually marry her brother? Yeah, Charlie, I think on paper she did. So her husband slash brother has had a huge amount of wealth increase here just recently. And it’s under scrutiny, by the way, now by the Department of Justice, and by the way, should be. Should be. Especially given all of the fraud and things that have come out of Minnesota here of late, and that’s where she is, and of course she’s very close to all of the Somali stuff going on because she is. It’s just a little bit fishy. When you look at where she’s come from to where she’s at today and how many millions she’s worth, and a lot of that’s happened in the last couple of years. And how long has this fraud been going on? Well, that’s anybody’s guess, but for sure at least two to three years, maybe longer. So it’s really interesting when you see somebody like her go from really nothing to now being worth millions of dollars and her husband-brother same way. I mean, basically a lot of her net worth is coming off of her husband-brother. And I’ve said this before. If it looks too good to be true, if it looks fishy, it most likely is. Steve, go ahead, sir. Good afternoon. How are you, sir? Good, Steve. How are you?
SPEAKER 05 :
Good. Just a passing thought here. And that would be, I know, I’m not that fond of aftermarket remote starts either, but you probably got that Amber Alert last week with the kids. Yes, I did.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yes, in fact, that happened when we were on air. Yes, it did.
SPEAKER 05 :
So anyway, I just decided, I called the shop, and I said, here’s the deal. I will pay for a remote start. You can coordinate with the authorities to get our contact information. Because it’s a heck of a lot better when somebody has lost the mommy lottery and they’re going to leave a kid in a running car unattended, et cetera.
SPEAKER 13 :
Right. Can’t argue that.
SPEAKER 05 :
And it’s better than nothing. However, you know, in today’s world, the kind of age of rage we live in, I wouldn’t put it past these knuckleheads to break the glass.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, no. Again, given if it’s the right remote start, even if they do, car is still disabled. So most of them, if they know it’s a remote start and they’ve watched it start on its own, probably aren’t going to bother with it. But if they watched you walk out, start it, and leave, yeah, you’re a target.
SPEAKER 05 :
They’re going to check it. And, you know, I kind of feel bad for the kid. He’s two years old. He had nothing to do with this. And he’s just strictly an innocent victim here. And, you know, I think once this thing is done, I’m going to stay out of it. Anonymous, just pay for it. Let the shop take over. Let somebody in media take over. Because not better than a kid. And I just think it’s better than nothing. But like I said, I think it’s better than nothing. However, I think the gal, once she gets her boat start, ought to sign a contract. that if you ever do something that’s brain-dead stupid again, do not pass go, and you’re going to jail. Because I just think it’s abusive. It’s really ridiculous, apparently. Just my thoughts.
SPEAKER 13 :
Nope, nope. That’s good thoughts, Steve. I appreciate it. Somebody asked a moment ago, too, if you have a club on the vehicle, does that still qualify as puffing given the fact that the club is on the car? Folks, I don’t know. That’s one I’d have to go look at the law and do a little bit of research on to determine does that still qualify as puffing or not. I got another text message in that said that they think Omar – Johan Omar is remarried now and not to the original husband that she came with and immigrated with and married for that. That I don’t know. I don’t know enough, truthfully, folks. Could be. I don’t know enough about her. Truthfully, don’t care to. She’s one of those people that I just kindly wish she’d pack up and go back home. She’s not a true American. She’s not good for this country. Why people like her continue to get reelected is beyond me. It just shows you the intelligence level of some people that are out there because, bottom line, she shouldn’t be here, period, as far as I’m concerned. Now, some of the assets that were listed by the current husband, this is where it gets a little bit intriguing. They have a winery. I think it’s in California, but don’t quote me on that. It had an initial evaluation in 2023 of $15,000 to $50,000, but now shows just the following year, between 2023 to 2024, it jumped from $1 million to $5 million in range the following year. So it went from $15,000 to $50,000 to $1 million and then $5 million. Now, I’m not saying, as a business coach myself, I’m not saying that’s impossible to do. But I will say that that’s really hard to do. I mean, really difficult to do. And again, not saying it’s not possible, because it is on the million range. And I will say this, to go from 15 to 50,000 as a valuation to 5 million in a year, that’s really hard to do. I mean, especially in that type of a business. That would be, that one would almost be an impossibility. The million, a lot of work, might be able to do it. But the 5 million, I mean… There could be potentially an overvaluation of assets and things like that to make it the $5 million, but it’s really hard to do that in a year’s time. Now, the other one is Rose Lake Capital. That’s another entity that this particular gentleman owns, her husband. It showed a bigger increase. It went from a reported value of between $1 and $1,000 in 2023. to just one year later being $5 million or $25 million. Now, again, it’s a capital company. There could have been a huge influx of capital and so on. But then you’ve got to start wondering, why? Where is that coming from? What kind of capital is it? What are the expectations of? What kind of favors are now due? Because of that influx, and this is the kind of stuff that the DOJ is going to look at, and rightfully so, and they should. I would be looking at that. Because, again, you go from a valuation of $1 to $1,000, and then a year later, you’re $5 million to $25 million. And by the way, $5 to $25 is a big range. You don’t know the valuation of your company any closer than that. Even the one that’s one, but, you know, the last one, the grape, the winery, sorry, the grape vines and so on, it’s between one and five. That’s a big range as well. Now, I don’t know these forms that they fill out and what they look like and what they’re supposed to do. Maybe there’s just a range there that they’ve clicked the box next to it. I don’t know how that part works. That part, I don’t understand it. If that’s the case, maybe that’s just the box they click, and that’s why there’s a wide range of valuation there. I don’t know. I’ve never filled those forms out, never have had to, won’t, because I don’t really care. It’s nothing that I have to do. So it’s just interesting. that these companies that her now husband owns have had this huge increase in net worth in their valuation in just a 12-month timeframe. And as I said a moment ago as a coach, you don’t typically see it happen that quickly. Now, I don’t know her current husband. Some of you listening, maybe you can give me some details on that. I can come back in the 5 o’clock hour and talk about that for a moment because, again, I don’t follow her. I don’t know enough about her. I don’t know her husband. I don’t know his background. I don’t know what he does. It’s just, I mean, you’d have to be somebody that has a lot of deep connections, right? to be able to take those valuations on two different companies from where they were to where they are now. I mean, basically, you’re somebody, you know, you’re one of those guys that everything you touch turns to gold. And there are guys out there. I’ve known some of those kind of guys. I get it. There are people out there like that. But when your wife’s a sitting congresswoman in a state that is fraught with fraud right now, And literally, there’s money rolling out through airports in suitcases, cash in suitcases, and they’re now repossessing fancy cars, Lamborghinis, and so on because of all the fraud that was committed. You’ve got to kind of start wondering now, was she involved in some of this? Was he involved in some of this? And this is where she’s not real bright. Because maybe you’re doing everything on the up and up, but you knew this fraud was going on. A lot of cases probably perpetrated it. At the end of the day, you’re now going to leave yourself wide open for what you have going on. I mean, again, not a very brilliant person, if you ask me. You know, Ilan is not. She is not the brightest star out there by any means. So, I say that a lot, and I mean that. She’s not super bright, and I guarantee you that she did not make all that money. I’m not sure about her husband. Got to do some studying on that. Don’t know who her husband is, but highly doubt those things happened on their own by osmosis overnight. It’s just very ironic that it happened at the same time all this fraud is going on in her home state. SPEAKER 03 :
Putting reason into your afternoon drive, this is John Rush.
SPEAKER 13 :
All right, we are back. Some of you were laughing at me about my comments about Ilan and her husband-brother. I’m not lying. Again, I believe that her first husband, and I didn’t look through the break. I guess I could have as to who her current husband is now. But I do know the original husband to get through, I think, the immigration ends of things and so on to become legal, I believe. I believe that’s what she did. Charlie and I both would have to double check all of that, but I’m pretty sure that that’s exactly what she did. And again, how she continues to get reelected. She has been in office now since 2019.
SPEAKER 1 :
2019.
SPEAKER 13 :
She is from Mogadishu. Make sure I say that right. Mogadishu, Somalia. Again, people there must be Well, I was going to say people there must be really ignorant, but you’ve got to realize it’s her people. I mean, that whole area has so many immigrants from that particular part of the world that not hard for her to – I mean, she’s even said openly numerous times, I’m going to be now basically the spokesperson for Somalia here in America. That’s essentially what she has said. Right, Charlie? It’s basically what she has said numerous times. She’s going to represent people in that manner over and over and over again, and that’s what she’ll do, and that’s exactly what she’s done. So I’m looking to see really quick if I can find her marriage status. Of course, Wikipedia may or may not give me that. It wouldn’t surprise me if it doesn’t show it in here because that’s a big deal for her. And by the way, she’s also a big one. Always have to be reminded of this, that’s anti-Israel. She hates Israel, hates Jews, hates Israel. Not surprised at that, but yeah, she hates the Jews, hates them, you know, hates Israel and all of that. So I’m still rolling through to see if there’s anything in here about her marriage. And of course, there’s not much here at all. So in March of 2020, She did remarry a guy by the name of Tim Minette, M-Y-N-E-T-T. He’s a political consultant whose political consulting firm, the E Street Group, you’ve all heard of them, received $2.78 million in contracts from Omar’s campaign during the 2020 cycle. Now, this is the same guy that I think that I was talking about a moment ago. There’s nothing here that says differently that also has done really well in these businesses. Now, Again, don’t know the person, so I can’t really accuse him of being a bad business person, but highly doubt he made all that money on his own. Highly doubt he made all that money on his own. So, yes, thank you, by the way, for that tip. I did look that up, and you are 100% correct. She did remarry this particular individual I just mentioned a moment ago. Richard, are you with us now? Oh, that I am. Sorry about that. No, that’s fine. All right. So we had a I want to say it’s a devastating loss by the Broncos yesterday because, you know, the reality is tough game, tough weather. I think there was a couple of coaching mistakes that, frankly, you know, probably would have changed the outcome of the game on the same token. There’s other things that, you know, happened. And, you know, the reality is, you know, I’ll just say it as it is. Did the better team win yesterday? No, the luckier team won yesterday.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, well, and I think with the Broncos, Dad, you can sort of say, unfortunately, well, it’s kind of started with Bo Nix’s injury, that their luck kind of ran out. And the reality of, you know, the NFL and Super Bowls, and we’ve talked about this before, championships in general, is, yes, is it skill and is luck a created thing in a lot of cases? I think so. But sometimes you just get bad luck, and I think that’s kind of what the Broncos ran into yesterday. Again, I’m a believer, and we talked about it with you and Stidham, and if he was a step down or a step up or whatever it is, I think ultimately with him it was a situation of if Bo Nix plays that game, and really I don’t even know if it has anything to do with his arm strength or anything like that. I just think his legs. And there’s something to be said for that, the comfortability – with the offense where you’re in it every single week, right? And there’s nothing wrong. And that’s partially why backup quarterbacks struggle. Part of it is their ability is a little bit less, right? I mean, it’s just kind of a natural fact. Yeah, not mental capabilities, but just physical tools, right? It’s just not what the starter is. But then it’s also they are not getting the reps. They’re not getting the consistency that the starter is getting in order to play up to what you need them to, and especially in an offense like Sean Payton’s. And I know Sean kind of talked him up, and like you said, we’ll talk about it in a second, of some of the coaching decisions. But ultimately, Dad, it’s just – I said it on Friday, right? To me, it was a win-win because if you lost, you were always going to be able to go back and say – well if you had bow now it’s a bummer because you only lost by three points and right like you said you had a couple missed field goals and you had a you know fourth down decision down a goal where you should take the field goal i mean even even when it was even when they were lining up to go for i’m like take the stinking field goal and and actually i agree with you and josh said the same thing my only thing and i will say this and this would have been true dad is if you’d gotten that first down and gotten a touchdown which those are big ifs right you know a second if in there too 14 points literally wins that game yesterday, right? Because it was 13. And the way that the second half went, New England wasn’t challenging you. You really didn’t. And honestly, even if they got close, the way the kickers were kicking yesterday, there was no guarantee that anything was going to go in. And so it was one of those that, yes, obviously hindsight is 20-20. I do get what Sean was saying, though, which is, you know, if we get this and then we go get this touchdown, that would have given them a 14-0 lead. and the way that defense was playing yesterday, I think that would have been game over. Could be. And no one talks about it, too. But, yes, points with the weather good in the first half.
SPEAKER 13 :
The second half really deteriorated, though. I mean, I don’t know who the weather person was on that deal, but I am guessing that the Broncos weren’t expecting that because I don’t think anybody else was.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I think they were. And I know a lot of meteorologists, and obviously a lot of folks know what we do for day jobs. I’ll say this. I follow the weather probably closer than most, as you know. And they did not say it would be that intense, right? Like, it came through, and I’m on the north side of town, so I got it before they did. And it was a mini blizzard for a little bit. Now, it was not, you know, super crazy and, you know, like, would I feel danger? No. But just the way that cold front came in with snow, with the cold temperatures, it made for those. And that was crazy. is if we had played the night game, the snow would have had zero impact.
SPEAKER 13 :
True.
SPEAKER 06 :
How crazy is that?
SPEAKER 13 :
True. That’s true.
SPEAKER 06 :
Good point.
SPEAKER 13 :
True, because it was over by then.
SPEAKER 06 :
By the time the game ended and the other game started, the snow was over.
SPEAKER 13 :
Good point. Yeah, I mean, some of that’s just the luck of the draw. And I think, you know, completely side note, but I think that’s why, you know, in Denver, if you really want to have a even, maybe I’m wrong in saying it this way, but better fan experience and so on, we have needed a dome stadium for a long time. Yesterday was another example of proving that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, and some folks are going to say, well, you lose the element of that.
SPEAKER 13 :
I get it. No offense. You’re not the one sitting outside watching the game at that point either.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, for sure, sitting outside playing, and I’m with you, right? I enjoy playing in snow games, and I think weather is the ultimate equalizer. But why are Super Bowls played on neutral fields, warm weather, dome stadiums, those sorts of things? The answer is because they don’t want weather to play an outcome. Prime example, look at the Broncos’ loss to the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII. You were in New York. Granted, it wasn’t snowing, but it was frigid. I think it was like 15 degrees. And you had Peyton Manning, who had had a rock-solid year, but he was not enough for a quarterback for most of his career, for 90% of his career. And you then have that happen, and that game absolutely played in the hands of the defense, especially in that case. A lot of other factors had a role, too. But the NFL, sports leagues, they don’t want weather to impact the game, right? I mean, they don’t want injuries either. You know what happened to Bo, but they can’t really control that. You know, they don’t want officiating to impact it. They don’t want weather to impact it. So I’m with you, dad, the Broncos, they’re going to get in 2031. They’ve already said it. The stadium is going to have a retractable roof. Um, but one thing that you and I found out today is in the playoffs, uh, It is up to the NFL, not the individual teams, what happens with the roof. And so even if the Broncos wanted yesterday to keep the roof open, and they’re playing that game in six years from now, and they’re at home in the snowstorm, granted that you know the NFL could decide what to do whatever it might be because you know by the way dad right it’s Colorado we are just as likely to have what happened yesterday as we are for it to be a 60 degree day right look at this coming weekend and look at today right it was zero degrees when a lot of us woke up and it’s almost 50 degrees by the time we’re coming home right it’s just Colorado at its finest right and so I just think that you you hit the nail on the head and that is It’s just unfortunate because you don’t want weather to impact the game. It did yesterday. Was that the main reason why they lost? No. Like you said, and I had explained this to my son, sometimes and a lot of times the better team doesn’t win. And it’s just everything happens to go a certain way. And what you could probably say is the Patriots were maybe better that day, right? I don’t think the Patriots. I think if you play that game 10 times, I think the Broncos win seven of them. Yeah, no, I can’t disagree with that.
SPEAKER 13 :
And again, as you said, you bring everybody there healthy, and of course it’s a whole different ballgame when it’s all said and done. And, you know, it’s hard to say. I mean, at the end of the day, you know, had they made the field goal instead of going for it on fourth down and missed the fourth down and so on, would it have been a different outcome? I mean, who knows? The point being, you lost. You only lost by three. I think given the fact you had a backup quarterback, very respectable quote-unquote loss when it’s all said and done, and we’re going to be back next year and we’ll be just as strong. And realistically, other teams better look out.
SPEAKER 06 :
They should. I think the Broncos are going to continue to get better. They’ve got a lot of their core locked up for a number of years. You still have Bo Nix on a rookie contract, which is really key. It lets you put money into other areas of the team. And, yeah, so you absolutely are. Now you’re going to get the Chiefs back. They’re going to come back locked, ready to go. Hopefully the Chargers are potentially going to be better and some – The Steelers have a new coach. The Ravens have a new coach. The Bills have a new coach. You’ve got a lot of change happening. It’s why this year was so special, would have been so special, and it’s unfortunate. I said on Friday that my two least favorite teams in the playoffs are going to be playing for the Super Bowl. And so I don’t know how to feel about it because I don’t want the Patriots to win because their fans are just awful. And same with the Seahawks fans. I don’t like Seattle fans either. It’s just kind of a lose-lose, but I don’t know.
SPEAKER 13 :
I think that one for me, you still got to vote for the AFC end of things. That’s me. So I’ll be rooting for New England.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I’m with you on that. Again, I’m just not a Seattle person, and yeah, folks, maybe it’s a city thing, or I don’t know, just not my cup of tea. Neither are Boston fans, though, Dad. I live with Boston fans, and they are insufferable. But, you know, they get the right to go for it. And at the same time, Dad, for the Broncos, and I tried to explain this to my son as well, you know, this is what sports is. Now you’re on to the next. You’ve got to kind of rebuild your team. You’re into the offseason. Andy and I, you know, love this part of the sport. It’s kind of what I think is the fun part because you kind of build up your team in the way that you think is the best best suited to win next year and kind of see what happens. So it’ll be good. And next week, I know we’ll have to talk about it. I’m sure we will the following week. Maybe we’ll see. Maybe there’s been a turning because we saw it a little bit last year with some of the Super Bowl ads. Although it’s been a few years since we’ve really had some good ads, hasn’t it?
SPEAKER 13 :
Yes, it has. No, you’re right. They’ve been pretty lame.
SPEAKER 06 :
And so I’ll be curious, because usually over the course of this next week, the ads kind of start to trickle out, right? They kind of get to get a feel for people and what that is. So maybe we’ll talk about that a little bit next week ahead of the game. And something I’m looking forward to, obviously, with the Broncos being out. But like you said, Dad, at the end of the day. I don’t think anyone expected us to be here. You were really close in the game with your backup quarterback. So next year, everyone healthy. Who knows what happens?

SPEAKER 13 :
Okay, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. That time of the week where we squeeze in our car reviews. We replay these for Drive Radio on Saturdays as well. Richard, what have you driven lately?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, Dad, I drove a interesting car, and interesting in a good way, because folks may not know what it is. And that is a 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz XR Key. And this, folks, is kind of a, I mean, it’s a, it’s a, truck car car truck however you want to say it the biggest definition of the word dad right it has a you know kind of car suv sort of front and then it’s got a little bit of truck space in the back and for some folks it may be perfect for others you may look at this and say that i’m not sure about that thing all i can say is i would just give this vehicle a chance because it may surprise you right dad so again we drove the xrt trim level um it comes with a two and a half liter four cylinder 281 horsepower engine It now has an eight-speed automatic dad that replaces the dual-clutch transmission that was in it before. What else is new for 26? The turbocharged engine is new. It has a new terrain mode. Styling is pretty much unchanged. It did see a little bit of a price increase, which we’ll get to in just a second. And outside of that, it’s pretty much, again, kind of very similar from 2025 to 2026. As far as that pricing, Dad, and I mentioned it, the SE starts about $31,000 and then goes all the way up to the Limited, which goes to about $45,000. And this vehicle that we drove with the XRT was right there, about $40,000 to $43,000. Interior, it’s everything that you would expect with the Hyundai, right, Dad? It’s everything that you would want on the inside. A lot of nice trim pieces, a lot of great pieces. Sorry for the background noise. But a lot of nice… features on the inside that are really going to help, I guess, really improve the vehicle on the interior, Dad. And what I mean by that is it feels like a sedan and it feels like a car. So you’re not so overwhelmed with some of the truck features that you may get with some other vehicles. And then at the flip side, Dad, is it does have that full truck bed that you’re able to use and utilize. Oh, sorry. And let me rephrase. It’s not a full-size truck bed, right?
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s shorter than that. That’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s kind of a mini truck bed. So it’s not going to fit a full four-by-eight sheet of plywood with you being able to put the bed up, whatever it is. However, will it let you store some gear and store some things in the back of it that you may not want in the interior of the car? And that’s absolutely something that it’ll do. The only downside to me, Dad, and I don’t even know if it’s a downside, is the interior space is not that great, right? It’s a little tight.
SPEAKER 13 :
You have to realize that the car itself is, because I’m not calling it a truck, because it really does drive and act more like a car that has the ability to still put some stuff in the back. It’s sort of like having an SUV only without that overhead area that would limit you on what you could actually carry in an SUV. So think of it as an SUV with a little bit of a truck bed, what’s got like a four-foot – I have to look it up. It’s around a four-foot bedder. So I’ve driven this car in the past. Again, a car I actually really enjoy. But to your point, yeah, it’s not – I mean, this is not a – I’m not trying to beat it up, Richard. It’s not a four full size adult car. It’s, you know, two adults with maybe some kids in the back or something, or you’re going to do something different with your cargo or whatever. But it’s really not designed to run around with, you know, four full adults in it.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, I would totally agree with you, and that is exactly what I would tell you. And it’s not a bad thing. And real quick, yes, 4.3 feet with the tailgate closed. That’s what I thought, yeah. 74.8 inches, so about 6.2 feet with the tailgate open. So you almost get a full-size kind of truck bed if you want to leave that tailgate down. But you said it best, Dad. I don’t know if you have a family of four or whatever it might be. If you’ve got some small kids, this may work for you. But really, this is kind of a it’s got the back seat. Put some stuff in it, but you’re really not going to have a whole lot of usable space. Back to the interior features, again, it’s got a lot of the car features in it. It’s got heated seats on this vehicle, which is nice. Dual zone climate control. It’s got the easy-to-use navigation or infotainment system that Hyundai is known for and that we’ve really become to like over the past number of years. It works really well in that regard. But like you say, the size, and for some people, Dad, I’ll say this. the size may fit you, right? It may fit what you’re looking to do, especially if you’re in a more urban environment and you don’t want even a mid-sized truck, right? I know you were kind of talking in the segment before about putting your cars in the garage, right? If you’ve got a smaller garage, this gives you the ability of doing that without having to clean out all the stuff that you were mentioning before, right?
SPEAKER 13 :
The other plus side to this car, Richard, is this has got a really, I mean, again, the XRT is a little bit higher priced car, but you can buy this car starting for under $30,000.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, well, I think 2026, you’re right above 30. I think it’s right about 31 is where you’re at. But to your point, Dad, it’s really hard to get the functionality and the utility of this vehicle for this price range, right? I think that that’s something that can’t be overstated. One other thing, and I do want to mention it, Dad, fuel economy, it does have a little bit smaller of a fuel tank. 18 and 25, so for an average of about 20 miles per gallon. But again, it does have a turbocharged engine, Dad, which at our altitude does work well. But I will say this, you’re driving around for a full week. I will say that I have gone through quite a bit of fuel. It doesn’t feel like I have. I can just tell you that, you know, driven the car for that amount of time, not even a full week yet, and I’m almost out of fuel, right? And so if you’ve got longer commutes, whatever it might be, just something to consider. Would it prevent me from buying this car? Absolutely not. So encourage folks to check them out, Dad. Like we said, 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz. They’ve got lots of different trim options, lots of different features that you can look at. Get out, test drive this vehicle, and we really highly recommend it on this vehicle, Dad, because the size piece of it could be great for you, could be not so great, but you need to feel it and see it for yourself to do that. And when you do do that, let them know that John and Richard Rush from Drive Radio and Rush to Reason sent you.
SPEAKER 13 :
All right, and yeah, please, get out. It’s a car that I’ve actually driven in the past. I like the car. It’s a great size. It fits really well. All right, back to football really quick before we continue on. And again, there’s other sports going on right now. Our Nuggets are doing fairly well. Avs are doing fairly well. There’s other sports that are continuing, no matter what happens in the future, in the next couple of weeks, with the big game or the Super Bowl, whatever you want to call it. It is the Super Bowl, but you’re not supposed to say that on air. But anyways, the big game. We don’t advertise it. We don’t play the Super Bowl, so it’s not a big deal. And we’ll talk about some of the commercials and stuff later. in the future. But outside of that, Richard, there’s still other sports teams here in Denver that are actually doing fairly well.
SPEAKER 06 :
They are, right? The Nuggets are about to get Joker back, and they’ve sort of maintained a level of play while he’s been gone, which has kind of been extra special in its own right. The Avs continue to do well, but you mentioned sporting events coming up. Dad, I think we kind of briefly touched on this last week. The Olympics are coming up as well, right? Oh, yeah. And so the Avalanche are getting ready to go on a break because you’ve got the NHL players are supposed to be playing in there. So, again, I think it’s two weeks from yesterday, right? is maybe opening ceremonies. I just know some way in some shape or form it’s coincided with the Super Bowl and that sort of thing. So, yeah, you got that coming up. So, yeah, well, we’re kind of running out of football season, which is a bummer, Dad. We are in the thick of it with the Nuggets. We are in the thick of it with the Avalanche. And I always liked the Olympics, Dad. I mean, I know you may not watch a ton of it, but I just actually it’s one of those sporting events I think you and maybe non-sports people watch more because it still is our country against every other country, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yeah, and again, the problem with the Olympics with me, and we’ve got a couple minutes left here, is they wore me out years ago, the Olympics themselves did, on all of the sports that require judges. So all of those that are arbitrary, if you ask me. And the Olympics themselves, the committee, call it whatever you want to, literally for somebody like me, and I was watching them from the time I was a little boy, literally over time, they literally wore me out on their objectiveness or their anti-objectiveness when it came to Americans playing in a lot of those particular sports. And for me, they ruined me on it. The other thing I think that ruined me is when they divided it up where it’s every other year. I liked it when it was all in one year every four years. I know why they did that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did they used to do that?
SPEAKER 13 :
They used to do everything in one year. It wasn’t split up. It was Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics. They did it all in one year. And to me personally, it was much better when they did that.
SPEAKER 06 :
I actually like it every other year because I feel like it spreads it out and gives you something kind of in an off year. And then like this year, we also have the FIFA World Cup that’s going to be here in America and Canada and Mexico and America’s 250th. And I mean, it’s kind of a big year coming up, to be honest with you, for lots of stuff going on. I am with you, though, Dad, on the objectivity sports. That’s why I like hockey and, you know, bobsled and some of these other ones because it’s all based on, you know, time and things of that nature. But we’ll talk about it more here in the coming weeks, but definitely some exciting stuff to look forward to.
SPEAKER 13 :
All right, we’ll do that. I’ll let you go. Have a great evening. Be safe and appreciate it and get some rest as well. Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning coming up next, by the way. SPEAKER 13 :
All right, one more full hour coming your way, wrapping up this hour. Alvin Louie will join us. He’s been on with us here numerous times here of late, and we’re going to talk about, again, we’ll get into some more of what’s going on with ICE up in Minnesota. He originally had a story that we were going to talk about in regards to a particular individual that was involved in the whole church harassment thing. I’ll probably talk about that, but then really get his feeling on the things that just happened. He may, because of his insight and experience, And his contacts is probably the best way for me to say that he might have some other things he can bring to light in regards to the situation I talked about in the 3 o’clock hour regarding the individual that was shot by ICE over the weekend. So Alvin Louie is going to join us here in just one moment. And again, thank you guys all for listening. Thanks for the text messages. Don’t forget the text line 307-200-8222. We’ll be right back. Hour number three is next. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 1 :
Thank you. The Rich Guy.
