Join Andy Pate and Tanner Cole as they explore the complex fraud syndicate that ravaged Minnesota, revealing how Somali community members and nonprofit organizations orchestrated one of the largest fraud schemes in recent history. As they dissect the political entanglements and whistleblower challenges that surfaced, the conversation sheds light on the broader political and social issues that such fraud perpetuates. The episode critically examines the roles played by various actors in this saga, providing a thorough insight into the systemic failures that enabled such corruption to thrive.
00:18:21 Return to Discussion with Andy and Tanner
SPEAKER 10 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 19 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 15 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 01 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 15 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 20 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush, presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 05 :
Actually, it’s Andy Pate, party of choice. And welcome to our number two here on Rush to Reason. I’m Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Tanner Cole. And we’re going to talk a little bit about Somalians in Minnesota. Now, we’ve all heard the story, of course. Massive fraud. And it was almost entirely within the Somalian community.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
OK, we know that much. And I just want to before we even start looking at some of the numbers and how this is actually done, I want to remind people of something. Folks, this wasn’t just Somalians. I said this earlier in the first hour. It was Democrats. OK, this was members of one big time donors, members of one political party robbing their state. And by the way, us, too, because some of that money is federal. OK, robbing people blind, robbing fellow Americans blind. Okay. And this is what Somalians were doing. And I just, I look at this with a sickness in my heart. And let me read something here. And this is from American Barbie. Okay. And I can’t read it all because it’s very filthy at times. So I’m going to have to clean this up a little bit. But she makes an incredible point about this because Tim Waltz is trying to say, well, we’re punishing them now. We are. We’re catching them now. We’re putting them in jail now. It’s like, Tim.
SPEAKER 09 :
You let this happen.
SPEAKER 05 :
You let this happen. There were whistleblowers who came forward who told you this was going on. You guys swept it under the rug. So you have one party that’s doing all the stealing. You have one party that’s sweeping it under the rug. You have one party that is empowering it all. This party robbed you blind. Now, I want to ask you really quick here, Tanner. What if it was MAGA? What if this was a MAGA group that was robbing? Minnesotans or let’s say Coloradans. Right. Let’s say an all MAGA group were to rob, say, five, ten billion dollars, billion with a B from our fellow Coloradans. OK, what would the Democrats do with that?
SPEAKER 09 :
It’d be the number one news story in the world.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 09 :
And by a long shot.
SPEAKER 05 :
And in Colorado would be the only news story that would eat us alive. And so I’m before we even get to looking at this for a moment, because I know there are people out there saying, you know, I don’t really understand what’s happening. I just keep hearing a lot of fraud. Tanner’s going to flesh this out here in a second. But guys, Republicans, not just in Minnesota, but everywhere, if you’re not using this. In 2026, you’re out of your mind.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
The other party did all of it, robbing people blind and lining their pockets. And by the way, you don’t think that money went their way in donations? Okay, here’s what American Barbie says. I love it. She says, so you’re telling me that a bunch of, I can’t say it, Somalians, I’ll just say that, not very bright Somalians, figured out how to scam the system to the tune of billions of dollars without knowing English or even having the most basic of social or personal… It’s so funny. Hygiene skills. With absolutely no help from anyone in local government at all. You’re telling me that they came in not knowing our language, not knowing anything about the lay of the land, not knowing how these systems work, not knowing anything. They barely bathe. Right. At least is what she’s saying. I have not met these people, so I’ll just read it. She goes, I’m not blanking buying it. She says, I want every single one of them ripped from the homes I’m paying for and sent home before the ball drops in New York City.
SPEAKER 09 :
Agreed.
SPEAKER 05 :
First of all, I agree with her. And secondly, what a point she’s making. Yeah. Think about it, folks. What do you think? These people came in as master programmers and knew how to commit all this fraud.
SPEAKER 09 :
They know to hack government systems and just wire themselves money.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right. If these people, do you honestly think these people came in and did this all on their lonesome because they just knew how? They’re just so, you know, I guess in Somalia, they train you in how to rob the Minnesotan system.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know how to rob freight ships.
SPEAKER 05 :
They had help, okay? Democrats helped them. That’s why Democrats swept it under the rug when whistleblowers came. By the way, the whistleblowers now are afraid of who? Tim Walz. Right. They’re afraid to come forward because they say he will do damage to them, real damage. They’re terrified of the man.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
He’s a crime lord, man. He’s a crime lord. This isn’t a governor. He’s a crime lord. He doesn’t belong in office. And the people of Minnesota, I know that you have a hard time because these people can vote, and they’ve moved in hundreds of thousands of liberal voters, which has thrown off the scales.
SPEAKER 06 :
Taken over towns.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, Minnesota used to be a very balanced, blue-red kind of state, and what they did is they threw off the balance.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, but Minnesotans, come on. One side robbed you blind. Vote them out. Okay, now, for those who are wondering, how do they even do this? How’d the fraud work? Tanner, take it away.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, there’s one big organization that’s mentioned a lot, Feeding Our Future, but the main things they were doing are complex networks of nonprofits and affiliates using falsified invoices, fake attendance rosters, billing for services never provided, making it difficult to… detect and buying luxury cars, residential, commercial, real estate in Minnesota, as well as property in Kenya and Turkey, as well as informal cash transfer networks like Hawalas, I think I’m pronouncing that correctly. But they’ve been looking into this for a long time, but every whistleblower got… Or when the federal government or state officials came in, they basically threatened them with legal action over discrimination because of race, national origin, color and religion. So they stopped looking into it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right. In other words, they said, look, you, whistleblower, shut up. You’re being racist.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
SPEAKER 05 :
You’re being racist. Why are you saying that these Somalians do this? Well, because the people doing it are Somalian.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. You’re a racist.
SPEAKER 05 :
A large majority of… And by the way, you may be somebody who owns a business or maybe your husband owns a business. You work in HR here, but you work within the system. That’s why you were able to blow the whistle. But… Your husband may have a business. Your sister or brother may have a business. Maybe they are involved in the community. Oh, my goodness, your brother is a pastor. And we can say that you are a racist and ruin all of them. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 09 :
They also had the Minnesota Department of Education as well as the Department of Human Services missed warning signs failing to address complaints effectively, which not only were they accused of your being racist, they weren’t really paying attention, it seems. And this all started kind of during COVID with Feeding Our Future, a nonprofit in 2016. But during that, they claimed to distribute thousands of meals, some sources say 120,000 meals a day. Yet only a handful of those were actually ever delivered or anything. Right. And these are like meal prepped. It’s not like, you know, $3 a meal or something. No. This could be $10 a meal. So, I mean, just a day.
SPEAKER 05 :
And here’s the thing, folks. It was fake. Right. They had fake storefronts. They had, who’s the guy who?
SPEAKER 08 :
Nick Shirley. Nick Shirley. Now, he’s a YouTuber. Right. He’s a conservative YouTuber. He’s independent.
SPEAKER 1 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 05 :
I know, but you can tell he leans.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 05 :
And he went to a number of these places. Empty stores, empty storefronts, blacked out windows. He would ask them, you know, this is a daycare. Right. Where are the kids?
SPEAKER 09 :
Dozens of daycares. He also had help from a local independent journalist. But dozens of daycares where they have fake attendance rosters saying there’s all these kids there. There’s no kids. Right. There’s just Somalian women in there standing around. And then once they see the cameras and Nick Shirley come in, they all close up, wouldn’t let them in. And then, of course, they call the cops. Right. I mean, 299 meal sites at its peak, 90 million meals in two years. How much does that add up to? That’s a couple billion right there.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, it’s billions, folks. We’ve been hearing lately that it goes as high as 9 billion. Right, and— We’ll see the final numbers later on, but I mean, wow.
SPEAKER 09 :
The USDA and state officials kind of overlooked everything because of COVID and how chaotic the whole country was. I mean, the world in general. So the oversight rules and regulations weren’t as strong. So it was very easy for them to get this bypassed pretty easily. And the lady who seemed to be in charge of it, the founder, and was, I guess, the president of Feeding Our Future, Amy Bach— And it said she was found guilty and most of the perpetrators along with her were Somalian.
SPEAKER 1 :
90%.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 09 :
And Tim Wall said he’s implemented new safeguards, hired a new director of program integrity, and ordered audits of high-risk programs to prevent future fraud.
SPEAKER 05 :
Because he got caught! Okay, for great alone. Sir, Mr. Walls, may I call you Mr. Walls? You did nothing for all the years. In fact, you shut down whistleblowers who were coming forward. You finally got caught. The whole thing blew up on a national scale. Now you can’t stop it anymore. The FBI. And here’s the big thing that happened. Trump won the election. Okay? Trump won the election, so now you have an FBI that’s not going to protect you. They’re actually going to investigate you, and that’s exactly what they’re doing. Kash Patel says that even while these stories have only recently come out, he’s had people on the ground working on this now for months.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah. Look, this… Mr. Walls, you didn’t come around until you realized the FBI was exposing all of it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
And finding people guilty. And you did nothing until then. Now you’re saying, oh, we’re getting them. I like what the Babylon Bee said. They did a headline. Walls announces $8 billion grant to a Somali company to investigate fraud. I think… This is ridiculous. Look, all of these Somalians in that community, this is Ilhan Omar’s district. They’re all Democrat.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
They are all supporters of yours, Tim Walz. They are all supporters of yours. You corrupt governor. You crime lord. They are all supporters of yours. And that’s why you look the other way. And the only reason you’re burning a few of them now is because you can’t stop it.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right, to save himself if he can, but I think he’s going down with the ship.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right. You lost an election. By the way, he had a lot of… Look, I knew he wanted to win because he was the vice presidential candidate. I never knew it was to cover up his crimes that he was letting go on.
SPEAKER 09 :
This is Somaligate.
SPEAKER 05 :
This is Somaligate. And it is huge, folks. It is not small, it’s huge. They estimated that $1,500 per every voting citizen in Minnesota was taken.
SPEAKER 09 :
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more. The Fed prosecutors are even saying only 3% of the funding they got, so $18 billion, was actually given for meals.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 09 :
So 97% was just going.
SPEAKER 05 :
Where’d it go?
SPEAKER 09 :
Bribery. Yeah.
SPEAKER 05 :
Some of it went to terrorists overseas. Okay, so some went to terrorists overseas. And by the way, Somalia is basically a terror camp.
SPEAKER 1 :
100%.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, so the money went to terrorists overseas. It went to Democrat politicians here.
SPEAKER 09 :
Went to terrorists in our own country. Yes. And people who hate America and want us to fail.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah. These are terrible people, folks. Republicans out there, tell your friends, tell people you know. Let everybody know. Those swing voters we have to win back here in 2026, let them know. The other party robbed them.
SPEAKER 09 :
And who knows what other states.
SPEAKER 05 :
And here’s what I would ask them. I’d just put it to them this way, Tanner. Let’s say you’re talking to some swing voters. What if this was MAGA? What if this was a MAGA group? Protected by MAGA politicians shutting down whistleblowers coming forward and directing all this money to MAGA people who robbed billions and billions of dollars from a small state that’s not a very popular state like Minnesota. And robbed billions also from the rest of us because some of this money was federal. What if a MAGA group had done this? Now, if they come back and say, well, they probably have. No. No. Biden, are you kidding? Biden was in charge of the FBI because it was his FBI for the last four years. You don’t think he would have gotten them? Right. And brought them out for political reasons? Guys, I got news for you. MAGA isn’t doing any of it. MAGA isn’t robbing anyone. They are. And it is about time we look at Americans and say, look, the other side is robbing you blind. How can you believe anything they say?
SPEAKER 09 :
I can’t.
SPEAKER 05 :
I can’t either. Okay, let’s take a break here. Up next is Paul Lundberger. Paul Lundberger is an insurance broker you can trust for great prices from nine different options. Call Paul at 303-662-0789.

SPEAKER 09 :
Were you concerned about potentially being dropped by your insurance? And how did RoofMax ease those concerns?
SPEAKER 17 :
I was kind of concerned that my insurance company that I had previously was going to either cancel me or increase my premium. When Dave came over and he said, Gil, he said, your roof looks good. I will give you a bid. And he said, I can give you a warranty of five years. And I said, whoa, that’s great.
SPEAKER 09 :
Would you recommend RoofMax to friends, family or neighbors? And why?
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, because they were very prompt in getting the job done. They were very efficient in the time, maybe three days to four days max to get everything, paperwork, come and inspect my roof and complete the job. The price was very good. I was very impressed with the appearance of our roof after it was completed. So yes, absolutely, I would recommend RoofMax and especially Dave Hart.
SPEAKER 09 :
Work with Roof Savers today by going to klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 13 :
What if you could get over 110 lab biomarkers tested, just like Dr. Mark Hyman advertises, but for a fraction of the cost and with a doctor who actually explains the results? At Castle Rock Regenerative Health, Dr. Scott Faulkner has recreated this powerful biomarker test panel at a substantial savings. We have a special price for both men and women. Just $689. That’s a savings of over $2,500 over the standard price. And here’s the difference. With Hyman, you get numbers on a page. With Castle Rock Regenerative Health, you get Dr. Faulkner and his team walking you through every result, showing what’s off and creating a personalized plan to fix it. What’s even better, you don’t even have to be a concierge patient to get this pricing. This is open to everyone. Think about it. Most people’s deductible is higher than this special price. SPEAKER 05 :
Putting reason into your afternoon drive. This is John Rush. And welcome back to Rush to Reason. Denver’s Afternoon Rush. KLZ 560. Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Tanner Cole.
SPEAKER 01 :
Man.
SPEAKER 05 :
And Tanner, you know, really quick here before we go to the next story. What really angers me is this. If MAGA had done this anywhere… What would happen to MAGA and the Republicans this November nationwide?
SPEAKER 09 :
We wouldn’t win one.
SPEAKER 05 :
We would get clobbered in every close district across the country. We would get clobbered. We would be annihilated if MAGA had gotten caught doing this anywhere. Just pick a town, okay? We would be annihilated. I am getting sick and tired. Of us being held to these ludicrous standards. We practically have to be Jesus the sequel.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
And they can be the devil incarnate. They can be whatever they want. And that just makes it even.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m sick of it. I am sick of it. It is time we put the spotlight on things like this. Look, folks, it’s not just that. It’s not just the fact that they robbed people of billions of dollars. It is also Democrats shooting up Baltimore and Chicago every weekend. It is Democrats. Wrecking California and every major state that people are running from.
SPEAKER 09 :
Every major city.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes. It is Democrats who ruin everything in sight. It is Democrats who push socialist policies like in New York and convince majorities of people to rob their fellow citizens. Because times are tough. There is nothing good about that party. And I’m sick and tired of us being held to this super high standard and them being held to none. Okay, now. Just to be a little bit even-handed, at least I’ll take a shot at Florida. Because this is funny. A Florida man, this is from a town hall, Joseph Chalfant wrote this. A Florida man working as a part-time Salvation Army bell ringer is facing criminal charges after a violent outburst while wielding a donation cuddle on December 23rd. Listen to this. His name is Stephen Pavlik. Okay, he’s 63-year-old, and he was stationed outside of Publix, P-U-B-L-I-X, I don’t know it, near Fort Lauderdale. Well, he appeared to be intoxicated. Pavlik was reportedly acting aggressively towards shoppers as they passed his station, creating a major disturbance. It gets better. His behavior caused the store manager to confront Pavlik, who then became violent. Pavlik then grabbed the iconic Salvation Army donation tripod and attempted to impale the store manager. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office revealed on Facebook. The store manager was not injured. Well, of course he wasn’t. This guy was a drunk. Pretty easy to dodge him, I’d say. Well, Pavlik, he tried his hand at some part-time Christmas charity work. However, drunk drinking belligerent tidings and assault took him from bell duty to booking blotter after a full-blown charity tirade. Instead of spreading holiday cheer, Pavlik acted more like Bad Santa. What would you do if you saw somebody acting like this? And it’s a Santa who goes on. What, were people not giving enough? I have no idea why he lashed out at people. Even if you’re drunk, you would think generally, you know, ringing the bell, you’d still be cheery drunk.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. I mean, even when I see it, I think I’ve seen five this year, and none of them have even asked me or said anything to me. So I don’t know why the guy got so upset.
SPEAKER 05 :
Have you ever… I’ve never seen an angry Santa. The Salvation Army ringers. I’ve never seen an angry one of you.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, only from that new Hacksaw Santa movie.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, yeah, but that’s a movie. You know, I’ll often throw a little something in or whatever. I can’t every time. I go in too much. But, you know, I’ve never seen anything like this. I don’t know what I would say. I mean, I would report him, obviously. You have to. He’s drunk and he’s lashing out. He tried to impale the store manager. I’m sorry. It wouldn’t be funny except nothing actually happened. Right. Okay, folks, so lesson for the day, don’t be a drunk Santa.
SPEAKER 09 :
Don’t be drunk in public.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, that’s probably not a good idea. Go to a party on New Year’s Eve like everybody else, and please don’t drive then. Okay, let’s take a break. After the break, we’re going to talk to Richard. We’ve got NFL picks for the week. Got it? Got it. Okay. Up next, I’m sorry, I’m still laughing, veteran windows and doors. You know how a great front door makes your whole house look better? It does. putting reason into your afternoon drive this is John Rush
SPEAKER 05 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Tanner Cole. That’s right. And on the line right now we got Richard Rush. Richard, how are you, sir?
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, I’m well, Andy. We are well, but sad, Andy. We only have one week of our lovely regular season NFL football.
SPEAKER 05 :
I know. It’s coming to an end. By the way, before we get to the NFL, other really sad news that I know is going to have you all broken up, and you may need to take a couple minutes just to compose yourself. George Clooney is moving to France, and he’s taking on French citizenship, so we’re losing him. Are you going to be okay?
SPEAKER 10 :
We’re losing him. We’re losing that vote, Andy, aren’t we? You know, I can just be very upset about that, Andy, or move on to bigger and better things.
SPEAKER 05 :
I will say this, though. No actor ever, ever made salt and pepper hair. That good-looking. I mean, really, he did. He made it cool. He’s a good-looking guy. Yeah, he is a good-looking guy. We are losing that piece, Andy, but I think we will replace him. He’s a fun actor, too. And he did some good movies. Oh, yeah. Well, what’s your favorite one of his? I mean, would you go with Oceans or are there some others?
SPEAKER 10 :
Oceans was pretty good. That was fun. I actually thought he was an underrated Batman, believe it or not, and that one with Arnold. I know that a lot of people hate that Batman movie. Yeah, but it wasn’t his fault. I thought it was a good movie. Yeah, well, exactly. I thought it was a fun movie. I thought he actually did a good job as Batman, kind of added that thing. But it’s probably Oceans for me. I would say that’s one of my more favorite films.
SPEAKER 05 :
And Arnie was Mr. Freeze. They should have reversed those and let Arnie be Batman. I think that would have been pretty funny.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, that would have been interesting.
SPEAKER 05 :
Arnie and Batman, the accents and everything. I’m Batman with his accent. Okay, are you ready to do NFL picks, sir? I am ready to rock and roll, Andy. Okay, here we go. And boy, are we starting off with a good one. The Carolina Panthers are at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay is favored by two and a half. Who grabs the coveted NFC South crown?
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, man, Andy. Both of these teams actually are looking good. Then the Panthers or the Bucs, I can’t believe they lost. Did they end up losing to the Dolphins? Yep. They did, and then the Panthers had a hard fight but lost to the Seahawks, as we expected. Andy, I think the Panthers are a year away. However, I think that they will actually take the crown. I think the Bucs are kind of floundering, so I will go with the Panthers. And then Joshua is here. No commentary today, just a quick pick. Josh, who wins, Panthers or Bucs?
SPEAKER 12 :
Panthers.
SPEAKER 05 :
there you go okay i’m with josh i’m gonna go panthers what do you say i think so too the bucks started out so well and they’ve floundered completely i mean losing to the dolphins and they’re playing quinn ewers he looked better than baker did the dolphins even put any players on the field bradley chubb was out there okay there you go okay one all right next game the seahawks okay they are favored by one and a half on the road at the 49ers game of the week what do you say
SPEAKER 10 :
Andy, honestly, to me, this is a coin flip. I agree. Because I think the 49ers, they’re really hot right now. The Seahawks, I think, are hot, too. I still don’t trust Sam Darnold when the games really matter, Andy. I’ll just say that. To me, I’m going to go with Josh, this guy here, to Christian McCaffrey and the 49ers. And then I’m actually going to alternate boys this week, Andy. So, Samuel, 49ers or Seahawks?
SPEAKER 12 :
Seahawks.
SPEAKER 10 :
There you go.
SPEAKER 05 :
You’re alternating. Which boy was that? That was Samuels. That’s my second oldest here. Good job, Seahawks. I’m going to go with him. He sounds smart. What do you say, Tanner?
SPEAKER 09 :
I’ve been trying to find a website or someone to tell me if this game actually matters for the one seed. I know they’re in the same division, but…
SPEAKER 10 :
It is the one seed. Whoever wins this wins the NFC West and gets the one seed.
SPEAKER 05 :
Wow, pretty cool. Okay, next game is not about the one seed. It is the New Orleans Saints are at the Atlanta Falcons. Who grabs the coveted top draft pick in the NFC South?
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, the top draft pick. You know, Andy, the Saints… This is a fascinating start to the season, Andy. You know, Tyler Shuck taken. Not sure who he is. I’m still not sure he’s a franchise guy. But then you have the Falcons who had so much promise with Penix. He gets hurt. Before that, he wasn’t looking like much of a quarterback, to be honest with you. This is fascinating to me in so many ways. I actually think, but granted, Penix isn’t playing in this game. I’m going to go with the Falcons here, Andy, only because they’re at home and Kirk has looked better of late, and he’s auditioning for his team next year. Yeah, but more importantly, what does Josh think?
SPEAKER 11 :
I’m going the Saints because of Tyler Schuch.
SPEAKER 05 :
There you go. Do you like Tyler Schuch? Do you?
SPEAKER 11 :
No.
SPEAKER 07 :
I think he’s good.
SPEAKER 05 :
He’s playing well and playing. That’s classic. Okay, go ahead, Tanner. Who do you pick?
SPEAKER 09 :
I got my pick skipped last time, but I’ll take the 49ers in the last one. I’m taking the Saints just because they’ve won four straight.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay. I’ll go with the Saints, too. Why not? I really have no idea. Okay, next game. The Browns. What a season. They’re on the road at the Bengals. Bengals favored by seven. Is Cincy building momentum for next year, or are they just wrecking their draft position?
SPEAKER 10 :
I actually think that – well, they are wrecking their draft position, Andy. But I think there is something to be said, especially for a team like that, for building. And dare I say their last chance at Joey B. Because I think, honestly, they had to in order to save Zach Taylor’s job, in my opinion, and to show maybe Joe Burrow what it can be like next year. Not saying that it will be, but what it can be. I – Still think that they’re a flawed franchise and won’t do much. But I’m going to go with Cincy here, Andy, at home. I think the Browns expended quite a bit of energy last week against the Steelers. That’s just me. Samuel, who do you think, Browns or Bengals?
SPEAKER 11 :
Bengals.
SPEAKER 10 :
Bengals. What about you, Tanner?
SPEAKER 09 :
I have a hard time picking the Browns, but they just beat the Steelers because the Steelers didn’t want Myles Garrett to get the sack record.
SPEAKER 1 :
I guess not.
SPEAKER 09 :
So I’m going to go with Cincy. I think they’re just a little better in general other than the defense. But, I mean, they have too much firepower.
SPEAKER 05 :
I agree. I’ll take the Bengals.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, next. Real quick, Andy.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Peter is 100% correct. That is a fascinating storyline. I know Myles Garrett said it after the game. It did feel like the Steelers were basically just trying to prevent – Miles Garrett from getting the sacker, and they just forgot everything else. They forgot how to play football outside of, oh, we don’t want him to take the record from us because of T.J. Water. Man, and it cost them a win.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, you know, and this is – It cost them the playoffs. We’ve seen this happen in a lot of different ways, Richard, where a team will have other things in mind besides solely winning. And I’m telling you what, when you go into a game against another team, you’ve got to have one thing in mind, and that’s the W, period.
SPEAKER 09 :
Kind of like the Raiders against the Giants. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 05 :
Those Raiders, they got potential in the draft. Yeah, they’re one seed.
SPEAKER 09 :
They’re the one pick.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, has everybody picked the Bengals? Yep. Are we all one? Okay, next game. Oh, my Packers. And, you know, Richard, every year you see a handful of teams at the end of the season completely fall apart. Now, Green Bay is missing, like, seven of their top ten players. I mean, they’re done for the season. But this happened to Detroit last year. And this year. Yeah, but you see a handful of teams that utterly, completely collapse down the stretch, and Green Bay’s one of them. Why does that happen? I mean, everybody gets injuries, but, I mean, they just stop playing.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I think it’s an injury to certain players, Andy, right? You know, for the Packers. They’re too important. Yeah. Yeah, and then obviously Jordan Love, not out for the rest of the year, but kind of dealing with some stuff, and Josh Jacobs dealing with some stuff. So it’s just kind of key players. I mean, so much of the NFL is not everyone’s going to get injured. It’s just a matter of who gets injured, right? Like can that ACL or Achilles happen to a backup versus a starter? Yeah. and how many starters can you get away with losing? And I just think for the Packers, by the way, Malik, I think Malik Willis is a pretty good backup quarterback. I don’t know if he’s a starter, but I think he’s a really good backup quarterback in this league. But, yeah, I’m with you. I just think that I don’t know why it happens. I just think it’s sort of to who the injuries that happen. Some teams can sustain a certain amount of them, but just too much for the Packers, to be honest.
SPEAKER 05 :
I honestly think Malik is definitely a starter, and here’s what he is. A very, very, very raw guy coming out of college with a ton of talent who needed several years to develop. And guess what? He did. Some of these guys, they never come around. Why? They don’t listen to coaching. They don’t take to it, or maybe they just can’t make a read. This kid is a great kid who worked his tail off. He’s arrived. We’re going to lose him, and he’s going to play well for somebody.
SPEAKER 09 :
Some people think the Packers should be starting him.
SPEAKER 05 :
I know. Me personally, because Green Bay is so devastated going forward, I would trade Jordan Love for two first-rounders. Why not? And elevate Malik going forward.
SPEAKER 09 :
I was surprised the Vikings are even favored by almost a touchdown, but I guess the Packers will just sit everyone because they’re already in the playoffs.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, they’re going to sit everybody. Can the Packers move up? No.
SPEAKER 09 :
No.
SPEAKER 05 :
No, we’re locked in at number seven. So we’re going to have everybody, including the water boy, staying at home. I think we’re going to let fans play. It’s going to be one of those games. I think six and a half is a huge understatement. I think we get demolished. What do you say, Richard?
SPEAKER 10 :
You know, Andy, I’m going to actually go with the Packers here, Andy, only because they’re your team and I have to pick against them. So, Joshua, Packers or Vikings?
SPEAKER 12 :
Vikings, and I also think that Tyler Hunt needs a better backup than Malik Willis.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, wow. There you go.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, I see. I’m with Josh. I’m taking the Vikings. What about you, Tanner?
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m going to take the Vikings. They beat the Lions, even though the Lions are devastated as well. I mean, the Vikings have finally found some form. With all that talent.
SPEAKER 05 :
I just have to go with Josh instead of Richard. Richard is old. He’s the past. Josh is the fresh new voice. He is the future. He’s the future. I’m going with the future. Okay, let’s do one more. At least one more game, then we’ll go to break. Cowboys, five and a half point favorites at the Giants who won big against nobody. How much would the Giants love an upset here, Richard?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I still think the Giants, because I think if they lose, Andy, they are the second pick, right? Yeah, it’s great for the draft. Yeah, it’s great for the draft. They don’t need the first pick, although no one would say they don’t want the first pick. But the Giants, I think, are okay with Dart at least for another year as long as he can figure out how to run. So, yeah, I mean, I actually think this one would be okay to not. And let’s be honest, Jerry doesn’t want to lose to the lowly Giants, even though, again, for draft positions, the Cowboys probably should lose to the Giants.
SPEAKER 05 :
But I think that’s a tall task, Andy, very tall task here for the Giants or for the Cowboys to lose. And who’s making the other pick? Who is the future?
SPEAKER 10 :
It is Samuel here.
SPEAKER 05 :
Samuel, Cowboys or Giants?
SPEAKER 12 :
Cowboys because of Jack Prescott.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, there you go. There you go. He’s going with the Daxter. I like it.
SPEAKER 09 :
If you remember when they played earlier this year, it was 40-40 going into overtime at Jerry World.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, there you go. I didn’t realize that. Who are you picking?
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m going to take the Cowboys purely because I think they have too much pride and aren’t thinking about the future, which is the draft.
SPEAKER 05 :
I would follow Samuel anywhere. I will take the Cowboys as well. Up next, let’s do one more. The Titans, for whatever reason, are still playing football. They are on the road at the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jags favored by 12.5. Is Jacksonville just a first-round loser, or could they go somewhere in the playoffs?
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m still not sold, Andy, but I think it’s likely they’re going to play the Bills, which is unfortunate for them because, as we’ve talked about, Josh Allen, I think, is on a mission this playoffs. And I doubt he’s going to take, you know, going to Jacksonville, warm weather, all of the above, and, you know, lose that in the first round. So I think it’s more of a poor matchup for them than that. But who knows, Andy? And the Titans? They’re not going to upset anyone. Plus, the Titans will be able to serve to lose this game. So I will take the Jags at home here.
SPEAKER 12 :
What does Josh think? I think the Jags is actually a three-point win because the Titans actually had a good football. Canmore didn’t start off that well, but now they’re playing good football.
SPEAKER 05 :
Agreed. Tanner, so you agree you’re going to take the Jags?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, and the Jags, I think they could technically still lose the division.
SPEAKER 05 :
They can if they lose and he wins. Yeah, so they have to win. Well, then I’ll take the Jags then because they’ve got to win. But, no, I’m not that impressed.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m not either, and they keep winning. It’s unbelievable.
SPEAKER 05 :
They’ve got no pass rush. I don’t think they’re that good. I think Denver was just looking past them. And, look, by the way, let’s get back to the Bills for just one moment, Richard, then we’ll go to break. I’m going to disagree with you. I don’t think the Bills are going. I’m not saying they won’t win week one. They could very well win week one in the playoffs, but I don’t think they go anywhere beyond that. They’re a one-man team. And, in fact, in my opinion, somebody has to go in, maybe with military gear, and free Josh from that team.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s not fair. Andy, Josh Allen on the Bills is what John Elway was to the Broncos until Mike Shanahan arrived. He is a one-man guy carrying teams through the playoffs. And that’s why John Elway is so special with his ability to take three teams to Super Bowls that should have never sniffed the Super Bowl, Andy. And that’s how it feels with Josh Allen. Honestly, Andy, to the Bills’ detriment, unless they – well, I guess here’s my question to you, and I know we’ll get to the game here in a second – Do the Bills make the move if they have an early exit, right? If they have the first-round exit or even a second-round exit? Because we talked about this, right? And the left Baltimore gets in. Most of Josh Allen’s chief rivals are not in the playoffs. Do they have the courage to basically cut bait with McDermott and kind of try something new, which is what John Elway did with John Fox.
SPEAKER 05 :
And Brian and Gary Kubiak. I don’t think they have the courage. I think they should. I don’t think they will. But I still believe, look, we sent Marines into Grenada to liberate people. Trump has already shown he’ll use the National Guard. He will use military power. He will take out drug boats. I think Donald Trump has to send the military into Buffalo. to rescue Josh Allen and pull him out of there. He’s a hostage.
SPEAKER 10 :
You may not be incorrect, Andy.
SPEAKER 09 :
Josh Allen was like when LeBron was first on the Caps, dragging them through the East and to the finals, and then him just falling apart.
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s just awesome. If it weren’t for Ashton Genting, I would feel more sorry for Josh Allen than anybody in the league. Let’s take a break. We’ll come right back, and we’ll go rapid-fire on the rest of the teams. Up next is Ridgeline Auto Brokers. Hey, in Fort Collins and Boulder, Ridgeline is your place for great used cars. SPEAKER 04 :
We inform you. Now, back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 05 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason. Denver’s afternoon, Rush KLZ 560 on the line. We got Richard Rush. Richard, nine games, nine minutes. Can we do it? Oh, absolutely we can, Andy. Okay, let’s get crazy. The first one’s easy. Colts are on the road at the Texans. Texans. Favored by 10, is defense making the Texans a dangerous playoff team?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, because that’s the type of football you’ve got to play in the playoffs, Andy. And the Texans need this game in order to secure the five feet, possibly win the division. I don’t think it’ll happen. So, yeah, I’m going to go Texans here. Samuel, Texans or Colts?
SPEAKER 05 :
Cold on the upset. Ooh, Samuel making the brave, bold bet. Okay, go ahead.
SPEAKER 09 :
After what the Texans did to the Chargers last year in the divisional round and did to them this week, two bookend Pro Bowl DNs is going to win you a lot more games than you think as long as you score some points.
SPEAKER 05 :
But they can’t score any. But I don’t think it’ll matter this week. I’ll take the Texans. Next game, the Jets are at the Bills. Bills favored by 7.5. My only question is, why only 7.5?
SPEAKER 10 :
Uh, because Andy, I guess the bills might take their foot off the gas. Maybe.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah. I think that’s a good bet. Okay. And what does Josh think?
SPEAKER 10 :
Those are just Josh.
SPEAKER 12 :
I actually think that’s Bill’s, Bill’s, yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, okay, thank you.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m with Josh. How about you, Tanner?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, they could throw in Mitch Trubisky. They’ll still win.
SPEAKER 05 :
We are all with Josh. Okay, next game. The Lions are at the Bears. Bears favored by two and a half. Richard, was Dan Campbell overrated due to good coordinators last year?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, it just shows you the value of a good coordinator, Andy. You can be the head coach like Campbell, kind of the head guy, the overseer of sorts, but you’ve got to have the good guys around you, and sometimes you take a step back. I mean, look at the Eagles in a lot of senses with that. The Bears need to win here, Andy. I think they need to win in order to maintain that two seed, so I’m going to go with the Bears. Samuel, Bears or Lions? Bears.
SPEAKER 05 :
Lions. Lions, another bold bet. I like it. Tanner, what do you think?
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m going to go with the Bears just because it means something to them. Lions have nothing to play for. Might as well sit your stars.
SPEAKER 05 :
I agree. I’ll take the Bears out. Next game, here we go. Tanner’s Chargers. Are they going to rest everybody?
SPEAKER 09 :
I don’t know why. I guess so.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, so I guess they’re not even going to play anybody, and they’re here at the Broncos. Broncos favored by 7.5. My simple question, Richard, do the Chargers have anything to play for? I think they’re just locked in.
SPEAKER 10 :
on their slot well no they they can go anywhere from five to seven but they will likely the question is do you want to be the five seed and potentially playing the ravens which you’re not going to know till sunday night or are you the seven seed playing a young potentially inexperienced new england team and you have a chance to kind of get herbert and some of the other starters rested that are sort of banged up so that’s what people are going with i’m going to go with the broncos as much as i hate picking my team andy you know that for you know superstitious reasons so joshua chargers or broncos it’s a closer game but broncos
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, Tanner. The spread’s gone up even four points. I want the Chargers five-seed to win play Ravens or Steelers. I just think that’s a free win.
SPEAKER 10 :
You need too much to happen to have that. You need the Texans to lose and the Jags to lose.
SPEAKER 09 :
Herbert hasn’t won a playoff game, so I’m hoping for that. That’s all I care about.
SPEAKER 05 :
But we’re losing.
SPEAKER 09 :
We’re losing.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, Broncos. We all take the Broncos. Okay, let’s ramp it up here. Chiefs favored by five and a half at the Raiders. Might this be the worst football played this week?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 05 :
Could both teams sit everybody? Can you have a mutual forfeit? Is that possible in the NFL?
SPEAKER 10 :
Andy, I actually think that the Chiefs would like that because I think they have a top ten pick right now based on how everything’s fallen. And I think they would love that to be able to restock. But they don’t get so lucky. The Ravens are awful, or the Raiders are awful. They want the number one pick. I’m going to go with the Chiefs here. Samuel, Chiefs or Raiders?
SPEAKER 11 :
The Chiefs aren’t my favorite team, but Chiefs.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. Chiefs it is. Tanner, go. Even though I don’t know who’s playing quarterback for the Chiefs, I’ll take them.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, one of these teams has to lose, and the Raiders want it more, so I’m going to take the Chiefs. I agree with you. Cardinals are at the Rams. Rams favored by 9.5. Arizona is another implosion team that has just totally fallen apart. What’s next for the Cardinals?
SPEAKER 10 :
The draft, Andy. A very high draft pick and a new quarterback. The rumor, by the way, is that getting rid of Tyler potentially for some draft picks, maybe even to the Raiders, Andy. So that’ll be a storyline to watch this offseason. But yeah, it’ll be the Rams. They don’t even have to play their starters. The Cardinals are terrible. Joshua Cardinals or Rams.
SPEAKER 12 :
I think it’s actually the Cardinals. They have fun playing good football. They almost won.
SPEAKER 05 :
There you go. So he’s taking the Cardinals, taking the upset. He is. I love these bold picks. You know, Tanner, you’re a coward. You’re not like him. What’s your pick?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, the Rams do have something to kind of play for, whether it’s the five seed or maybe the six seed. But I’m going to take the Rams. Even their backups could probably win this game.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m going to take the Rams too, but I wish I could take the Cardinals because I like the bold pick. Next game, the Dolphins, for whatever reason, are going to go out and play again. They’re at the Patriots, who are favored by 11.5. Could New England challenge Denver in the playoffs?
SPEAKER 10 :
I think they can either. They’re playing really well right now. The only thing with New England is they haven’t had to do too much, right? And granted, that’s to their credit. They’ve played with them themselves. They have come back. They did beat Baltimore because the Ravens decided to not give their account of the football. Different conversation. But yeah, there’s no way that they’re going to, because they don’t want to give up the two seed. They want to have home field until they potentially play the Broncos. So I will go with the Patriots here. Samuel, Patriots or Dolphins?
SPEAKER 12 :
Patriots because they’re way better than the Eagles.
SPEAKER 10 :
Way better.
SPEAKER 05 :
I like that. What do you say, Tanner? Agreed. Okay, and I’m going with the Patriots too. Two more games. Let’s do it. The Commanders are on the road with the Eagles. Eagles favored by eight and a half. Are the Eagles just too talented to totally suck?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, and especially against the Commanders team, starting Josh Johnson again, the of 38, however old he is, Andy, and 18 NFL teams or whatever it is. Yes, the Eagles are that, Andy. I don’t want to say they’re getting hot at the right time, but they’re playing good football. And let’s be honest, no one’s going to want to play them in the NFC playoffs. Granted, I don’t think that they’re up in the upper echelon of teams, but they’re still a very competitive team. So I’m going to go with the Eagles. And then Samuel loves the Eagles. So Samuel, Eagles or Commanders?
SPEAKER 12 :
Eagles because of Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts.
SPEAKER 05 :
There you go. Saquon! I love him. Tanner, is there any coach in the league who gets more, I mean less, who gets less from his talent than the coach of the Eagles?
SPEAKER 09 :
Nick Sirianni? They have talent at every position. I know their O-line’s been a little busted up, but… I mean, they held the Bills to zero points for the majority of the game.
SPEAKER 05 :
He is such a terrible coach.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I think Philly’s going to win, and I think they might need to just to hold on to a three. I don’t know if they could – well, they won’t go down, but I think they could move up technically.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, I’ll take the Eagles as well just because. Okay, last game. This is actually interesting. The Baltimore Ravens are three-and-a-half point favorites at the Steelers who just opened the door for the Ravens to take that division. Can the Ravens complete their big late-season comeback?
SPEAKER 10 :
Andy, here’s a better question for you really quick. Are the Ravens better with Huntley at quarterback or Lamar Jackson?
SPEAKER 05 :
Huntley’s a little better thrower, but Jackson is more dangerous overall. Look, what they did last week is because of the Packers, not because of them. The Packers have nothing left. I totally agree with you. And here’s the thing. I mean, going into this game, it certainly looks like they have the momentum and the Steelers have none. This looks like… Baltimore waltzing in and mowing them over. But when it looks that way, what happens?
SPEAKER 10 :
The opposite, and especially divisional game, Andy. Mike Tomlin’s going to muddy this thing up. I think this is a typical NFC North matchup. It’s going to come down to a late field goal. I will take old man Rodgers over the visiting Ravens. Joshua?
SPEAKER 11 :
I wanted to answer Diane’s question. It was title hunts. He’s better because he’s better at throwing.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, who do you pick?
SPEAKER 11 :
I pick Ravens.
SPEAKER 05 :
Ravens, okay. I like Hunley’s throwing better, too. I do. He’s a good quarterback.
SPEAKER 09 :
He was their backup forever. Then they got shipped out to Miami. Then I think Cleveland. Then he got cut, and now he’s back. What do you say, Tanner? I think the Ravens are going to win because they’ve won seven of their last ten, I believe.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, okay. Well, you know what? Actually, I’m going to go with Richard on this one. I’m going to take the Steelers just because they shouldn’t win this game, and whenever the Steelers should not win this year, that’s when they win.
SPEAKER 09 :
Seems to be.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah. Old Man Rogers, I do hope this, Richard. I hope it’s a snowstorm. I hope it’s a blizzard. I think that would just be perfect for this game. What do you think? 100%.
SPEAKER 10 :
Again, that would be total – and I think the NFL would love that too. Cold, rainy, drizzly, not an offensive explosion, whatever it might – I’m with you, Andy. Just some good old-fashioned football to get in and lose in the first round. But that’s a different conversation.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, they are playing for the right to get killed in the playoffs.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. There’s almost no reason to risk Lamar out there.
SPEAKER 05 :
But it’s the playoffs nonetheless, Andy. Yeah, this is like Tampa Bay and Carolina.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
And Green Bay. You’re playing to die for the right to die. All right. Richard and your children, thank you so much. They were all fantastic. Way to go, Josh. Way to go, Samuel. Way to go, Tanner. You’re a very good kid, too. I want you to know that. Thanks.
SPEAKER 09 :
Try to be.
SPEAKER 05 :
All right. Folks, that’s it for hour number two. And hour three, it’s going to be me and Eli Bremer, and we are going to talk about vetting some of the crazy, weird candidates we have. in the GOP coming into 2026. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Until then, keep it right here on Rush to Reason, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 19 :
And every Saturday we work in the yard. My friend’s got a Chrysler. I’ve got a Dodge. We’re just ordinary animals.
