We are very good. Co-founder of the American Made Foundation. Now, Jimmy Kimmel, that was kind of a topic we were going to cover, although there’s been a few developments since we booked you to be here because it looked like he may have not been coming back on air, period. Well, now he is on only certain networks.
SPEAKER 12 :
Right. That’s interesting. I mean, you know, originally what they turned this into was a free speech issue, and it really wasn’t that at all. He wouldn’t issue an apology when his boss asked him to, and that’s why he got preempted. And so, you know, if you were a waitress at a restaurant and you dumped a plate of food on a family and the manager came over and said, you need to apologize to this family, and you go, no, I’m not apologizing, and I’m going to double down. I’m going to dump more food on them. You’d be fired. I mean, and so the fact that he wasn’t fired is shocking, and that they reinstated him is even more shocking to me. And I went back and I was reading his really harsh, callous comments he made to Roseanne Barr when she got fired. And it’s like, yep, you got free speech, but, you know, you got consequences, too. And, you know, you got to live with the consequences of your free speech. And, you know, you don’t need to get a platform. You don’t need to get paid for a platform to… spew that venom. Well, there you go. Again, it’s the whole rules for me, but not for thee.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s right. Maureen, he didn’t just dump the food on the customers. He did it on purpose. And this is the thing that, you know, and I don’t know what he’s going to say tonight because he didn’t just get it wrong. He lied. He knew full out that this was every piece of evidence said this was a hardcore leftist who committed the killing, who, you know, the suspect of the killing. And he came out and said the opposite, knowing that he was going against all the evidence. He lied on purpose. And I think that’s going to be a real problem. Let me ask you this. With this many affiliates dropping out, how can they still pay him that huge salary?
SPEAKER 12 :
Maybe they can’t, and wouldn’t that be a blessing if they literally had to pull out? Because the bottom line these days, I mean, you guys work for a corporation. It’s just the name of the game. The bottom line is shareholders, you know, a board of directors, and money. I mean, corporations exist to make money. Right. They exist to make money. And so if they’re not going to be making money or advertisers drop off or what have you, I mean, you know, he will get his show will get canceled again. That is what is going to happen. And I hope that that does.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and here’s the other side. Here’s the other side of this, too, for all of you that are listening. And, Maureen, you probably don’t know this, but his contract ends at the end of the year anyways. My thought is that rather than go through a bunch of potential litigation and just utter nonsense, because, as you know, you can sue for anything, whether they’re right, wrong, or otherwise. You’ve still got to go through, defend yourself, and you’ve got all of that cost. My gut feeling is they did this to bring him back, to avoid a lot of that, knowing that his contract is up in just really three months anyways. Let’s just bear with it until the three months is up. Even if there’s a certain amount of affiliates that drop him at the end of the day, he’s gone in January. Who cares?
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, no, you’re right. I mean, December 31st, it’s, you know, I can’t believe summer’s over. I mean, really, we’re almost there. You’re right. We’re like, what, 14 weeks away from that?
SPEAKER 08 :
We’re not that far.
SPEAKER 12 :
Right. They’ll be in a million dollars’ worth of legal fees fighting him. And you’re right. Better off just ride this thing out, put him back on air, call it a day, and just not renew his contract. So I hope that’s what happens. But it was really fascinating watching Hollywood try to spin it, that this is a dark day for free speech. It’s like, no, it isn’t. I’ll defend Jimmy’s right to talk crap. to say crappy things about whoever he wants. Make an ass of yourself, Jimmy. Go for it. But you know what? You’re going to face the consequences, too.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and here’s the other thing that I would say, and I’m an employer, and Andy knows this as well. You know, I’ve said this a million times, literally probably in the last 10 or 12 years I’ve been on Air Marine, I’ll defend everybody’s right for free speech. They can say whatever they want to. Of course, there’s consequences to that. But when you work for someone else, there is no free speech. It goes away. You’re now representing that company. You work for them. And at the end of the day, yes, they have full control over what you can say, what you can do, what you can wear, what you can’t wear, what your hair looks like. I mean, I can go down the list, Marine, of all the different things employers can require. It is what it is. And as I always say, and I want to remind everybody listening, and this is where we get it wrong, I think, the most, Maureen. When you agree to go to work for someone else, You’ve either entered into an actual written contract, as is the case of Jimmy, which has all sorts of stipulations with it, or it’s a verbal contract where that employee, Maureen, has agreed to sell their time for X amount of money to the employer, meaning at that point in time, the employer owns that time. And that’s where I think so many employees get it wrong. You agreed to the arrangement. You agreed to go to work for X amount of money per hour, per week, per whatever. At the end of the day, you’ve sold your time to that employer, meaning they own it. 100%.
SPEAKER 12 :
No, I agree with you. And also, it’s them that’s going to get sued, and that’s what’s happening now, too. I mean, Newsmax got sued for $67 million. ABC got sued, lost a $16 million lawsuit to Trump. They’re losing lawsuits now, and they know it. So that’s the other thing. They don’t want this. And so I think they might… I hope they do. And it’ll be very interesting to see if Jimmy tonight on his show, on his opening monologue, if he does a mea culpa and if he apologizes to the Kirk family. I won’t be watching it. First of all, I’m not up that late.

Maureen, I think he has to apologize to MAGA, okay, because that’s who he accused of killing Charlie Kirk. He accused MAGA of killing Charlie Kirk. And I want to ask you, what do you expect tonight? Because, look, he’s obviously going to have great ratings for a week just because of the controversy. People are going to watch. Right. All publicity is good publicity for a little while. But the simple fact is you accused MAGA of killing MAGA. Okay, that was crazy. You lied. He’s got to own it in some way. And if he does not, what happens then? If he doesn’t own that, and I mean own it pretty good tonight, what happens to these other affiliates? Is he going to lose some more? Are people going to then tune them out and say, okay, you’re not serious. I know you’re a comedian, but you’re not serious. And besides which, let’s face it, other people are writing your jokes anyway. We can put anybody out there.

I have no idea what’s going to happen tonight. But, you know, if that does happen, if that scenario you just laid out does go down tonight, I don’t think it has anything to do with MAGA or the lies. That just shows you there’s something much bigger pulling the strings behind the scenes. I mean, you have your employer telling you to apologize. You know, you’ve got it’s totally not a free speech issue. He can say whatever he wants. I’ll back him up on that any day of the week. But, you know, when your lawyer tells you you’re fired and the FCC violations and they do nothing and the FCC has sat by and done nothing. They just postured. I was asked that when this first went down. You know, what do you think the FCC is going to do? I’m like, nothing. This was posturing. This was a show. because they’ve allowed everyone to lie, mainstream media to lie and be bought and paid for by USAID, which Doge proved, and they do nothing. They just sit there. So we have a corporatocracy. We have big tech, big money. That’s what runs our country, and America’s for sale, sadly. But if this goes down like you just said and there’s no apology issued and he just goes on as business as usual, that just tells you that – Even that corporation isn’t even in control of itself. There’s much bigger people pulling the strings behind the scenes.

I agree. One last question here. Okay, what about, though, all the people who said that Trump got him fired? Okay, Trump and his people in the FCC. And I forget the guy’s name, but he did put out a clumsy comment on this. I thought it was clumsy in how he put it forward. But that said… If Trump and the FCC got him fired, well, they’re still in place and he’s got his job back. So shouldn’t they all be apologizing? I mean, weren’t they all just proven wrong because he was brought back?
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, I don’t think they were wrong. And I don’t think I don’t even know if Trump made that call. I mean, this was just all speculation.

Trump did this. Who did?

The market. The market. I mean, the market, the affiliates saying, hey, we’re going to drop him. We’re not going to keep him. I think this was a free market decision. I don’t think Trump got him fired at all. That’s my entire point. All those people who were alleging that this was Trump being, you know, the next fascist and coming down.

They need to apologize also.

They need to apologize because guess what? They just got proven wrong.

Well, you know what? It’ll be interesting to see how tonight goes. We’ll have you back here in the future to maybe comment on what actually happens. I predict, this is my prediction, he stays completely away from everything and doesn’t apologize for anything and just moves on like nothing ever happened. That’s my prediction.

I think you might be right there. I think that that is how it’s going to go down. I agree with you. I think they’re just going to smooth it over and act like there was no there there.

Yep, that’s exactly right. And I still stand by, I highly doubt, unless his ratings change between now and December, I highly doubt they renew his contract. And I don’t think his ratings will do anything other than a week. There will be a spike for about a week or so, and then it goes right back down.

Yeah, and I think it’s probably going to drop lower than ever. Because he’s not funny, Maureen.

Well, he has moments. You know, I’ve always looked at these late night comedians, John, and I don’t think so much about how funny are their lines because they’re not writing them. And I don’t blame them for that. I mean, to come up with that much material that many nights in a row, obviously you got a big team. That’s fine. And your team’s doing the writing. I get that. My things that I look at are two things. Number one, how’s your delivery? And I do think his delivery is good. I think it’s solid. I think he’s got a good, solid delivery. I don’t think it’s nearly as crisp as Carson. or as upbeat and bright as leno right okay but i think he’s got a good sarcastic kind of delivery that can work if you if you want and also what is the general thrust of your show because that you are in charge of okay in other words you got a team of writers but are you looking at them saying bash trump bash trump bash trump nothing but bash trump and if you’re doing that Then you’re making, basically what you’re doing is announcing to the world, Trump is living rent-free in my head. And that looks weak. It looks weak. It doesn’t matter. It could be somebody who just goes after Obama all the time. It could be somebody who goes after whatever all the time, picks something, right? What you’re basically doing is announcing to the world, they live rent-free in my head. And that is a sign of weakness. And so what I want to see going forward is can he vary it a little bit? OK, can he go to his team and say, look, even before all this happened, we were what, third, fourth in the ratings? I mean, it wasn’t good. OK, he’s getting clobbered. And here’s the big thing, John, in the key demographic, 18 to I think it’s 34 year olds. OK, 18 to 34 year olds. He was only getting like one hundred and eighty thousand or something like that.

I mean, across the country. Do you realize how many people in that age group live across this country? I mean, you’re talking what, around $100 billion? I mean, okay, it’s something ludicrous, and you’re getting $180,000 of those. In other words, nobody’s watching your show, and he’s got to change that. And that doesn’t mean he can start coming out with a bunch of right-wing jokes. That’s not going to fly. I get it. But he has got to find some way to vary his approach. What do you think?

Because let me read you specifically what you sent me in quotations as to what you said. We hit some new lows over the weekend. with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them. And doing everything they can to score political points from it. How is that not accusing the MAGA crowd, you dodo head? Learn to read.

But to say the killer is MAGA when we already have mountains of evidence, all, not some, not 98%, all of it, saying this kid is the opposite of MAGA. 180 degrees opposite of mega. I’m not trying to be rude, but you must not be able to read. Right. I have no other explanation for it because I just read what you, the texter, sent me. I reread it from what you sent me just now, and that’s exactly what he said. Right. Now, let me ask you this, John.

You and I, we talk a lot, especially you. You’ve got shows six days a week. Correct. Hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours. You’re going to get something wrong every now and then. It’s going to happen. Okay? I mean, it’s just thousands of hours of you talking. Yeah. Can you imagine getting something that wrong to where you literally, I mean, you accuse the movement that just won a national election of killing one of its own. Because he knew he was lying. All the evidence said it. I’m not even asking for him to say I lied. That’s too far. I get it. But can you imagine not doing some mea culpa if it were you?

Well, if it were me, because even here, if there’s been something that I have said where I got it wrong for whatever reason, out of ignorance or a misunderstanding or I read something the wrong way or I misstated something, I, Andy, have always come back and corrected whatever it is that I knew I said the wrong way. So, to me, that’s just a must in the line of work, quote unquote, that we’re doing. To me, that’s a must. And it is in his world as well. Even though he’s a comedian, it’s still in his world. It’s no different.

Or led out of the last segment into this segment talking about the market, because you… You know, mention that when it comes to Jimmy Kimmel and some of the other folks that are out there in Hollywood. They don’t understand the market. Well, unfortunately, here in Colorado, with certain members of the GOP here in Colorado, they don’t either.
SPEAKER 07 :
No, they don’t. And, you know, I’ve been seeing it a lot this week, okay? And why is that? Well, two issues, really. First of all, Jeff Heard.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, Jeff Heard, in my opinion, made a big mistake. And I like Jeff Heard. I support Jeff Heard.
SPEAKER 14 :
In what way did he make a mistake?
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, because he, Ilhan Omar, the House Republicans wanted to vote to censure her and remove her from a committee position because she made insensitive comments about Charlie Kirk. And, you know, which is nothing new for her. When she exhales, she makes insensitive comments. This is just who this person is. And I totally disagree with his vote. I think this was a slam dunk. I think you vote to censure her and remove her from these things. I think it’s an easy issue.
SPEAKER 08 :
Right.
SPEAKER 07 :
Jeff came out and he said no because, and his reasoning was- It’s a free speech thing is what he said. Free speech thing. I think he’s totally wrong. It’s free speech with consequence, Jeff. Yep. I agree. And suppose she had come out and said far worse things. Well, I’m glad 9-11 happened. I’m in favor of rape. Whatever. At some point, there’s accountability for that. At that point, you would censure her, so why not for this? That’s right.
SPEAKER 14 :
I agree. Okay.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, but I also said, yeah, but we still have to support him because this issue, we have to keep in mind, as emotionals we get about this issue, John, the fact is this issue doesn’t affect any of us. Whether or not she is censured doesn’t affect us.
SPEAKER 14 :
It won’t change a thing, Andy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, it changes absolutely none of the American First agenda. Meanwhile, he has voted about 95% in favor of the American First agenda, which has been incredibly valuable in a very airtight district. Okay, because that’s a district that the last person who ran there was Boebert. She won, and this is before her theater problems. She squeaked by. She’s less than a percent. I think it was like less than a half percent or right around a half percent. It was a squeaker. Yeah, and the reason is this. Oh, go ahead.
SPEAKER 14 :
No, what I was going to say is really quick before Annie moves on.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
For all of you listening, they would say that, well, that’s a reason to just, you know, that’s a test for Jeff, and he’s done.
SPEAKER 07 :
Guys. Oh, yeah, they’re wanting to throw him out.
SPEAKER 14 :
Guys, I love Donald Trump. His comments, I’ll talk to Dr. Kelly about this on Thursday, but Donald Trump’s comments yesterday about Tylenol and pregnant women, he was wrong in stating. No matter what you believe, no matter what you feel, he’s got free speech to say, so I get that. But that was the dumbest thing he could have said. That is an area, as a man, I will just tell you straight up, you don’t go down that path. He was very ignorant. And I’m saying that publicly. Trump was very ignorant in what he said about Tylenol and pregnant women. You don’t go there. So that’s an example, Andy, where I’ll still support him fully. Oh, yeah. But do I agree with what he said yesterday? No, I don’t. He was stupid for saying so. Jeff Heard was stupid in his vote. Doesn’t mean I won’t support the guy, but that was a stupid vote. Right.
SPEAKER 07 :
End of discussion. Move on. I’m a big-time fan of Donald Trump. That doesn’t make me a rubber stamp. No. I’m a big-time fan of Jeff Hurd. That doesn’t make me a rubber stamp. Thank you. Okay. And so here is what – and here’s an example, and there are so many, but I just want to do one, of somebody who said, he’s out, he’s out, we’re going to – he’s got to go. And he goes – In my world, he’s talking to me because I’m trying to reason with him and say, look, he’s with us 95% of the time in America first. That is great for a tough district like that. That’s a purple district. And we got a guy out of there who has voted with us 95% of the time. And he says, in my world, no one should vote for anyone that ever votes for someone that votes a single time for the wrong side in an important vote. Now think about that. That kind of purity test would mean that if you only accepted those kind of candidates, then you could only win deep red districts, which means you would have massive Democrat advantages, big, big advantages in both the House and the Senate. They would own both. If you required candidates who agreed with you on everything and you thought even a censure vote was this important, OK, that means that you would demand purist candidates, purity tests that would make sure Democrats would probably hold 70 to 75 seats in the Senate. I mean, it would be something ludicrous. OK, out of 435 seats in the House, they would probably have 300. It would just be insane. There would be no Trump agenda. And so here’s what I’m getting to. Why do we even think that way? Why do we throw out strategy entirely? And here’s why, emotion.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right.
SPEAKER 07 :
And I was talking about this with you in the hallway beforehand when we came back in. Why have so many people, here in Colorado especially, on the right, become the purity test people who throw out strategy entirely? And here’s why. Because their emotions have taken over. And what I mean is this. They run on rage because over the last couple decades, little by little, they have had more and more and more of their liberties taken away, taken away, taken away, taken away. And while it’s happened, their rage is rising up, rising up, rising up. And what they’ve come to believe is this. If I just try to reason with people, if I just try to be a good strategist and do all this stuff, I’m going to lose. All I want is a fighter. I don’t care what their beliefs are. I don’t care. All I want is a basher and a fighter.
SPEAKER 14 :
And as I told you, you guys didn’t hear this because Andy and I were talking at the top of the hour. I understand the plight, okay? I feel the pain, as Bill Clinton used to say.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
I understand where they’re coming from, but they’re still wrong. Andy, this is like business owners where I try to get them to open their mind when it comes to their own market and what they’re doing and who their exact customer is and what target are they looking for and so on, which so many, by the way, don’t know. Right. We have a situation here in Colorado with a lot of our hardcore GO peers that are out there that, frankly, either A, have never been in business, B, ignore that even if they have because of what you’re saying, Andy, on the emotion side. And unfortunately, at the end of the day, if we continue down that path, just like any business, Andy, they’re going to lose.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
In other words, if you’re a business owner and you have that approach – you won’t have any business. No. You’ll lose the business. And in turn, in this case, if we, the GOP, continue to go down the path that these folks want us to go down, we also will lose.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. And by the way, we just memorialized Charlie Kirk. Correct. After this horrible thing. Well, let me ask you, did Kirk approach all these college students as a fighter enraged?
SPEAKER 14 :
No, he was very kind to them. Right. Okay. He built a bridge to begin with.
SPEAKER 07 :
Absolutely. When I look at these people, by the way, I believe they deserve their rage. I think your rage is right. I think your liberties have been taken away little by little by little by little. And then you turn around and all of a sudden there are boys and girls locker rooms. I get it. I mean, guys, America has gone so far to the left, it’s terrifying. I get it. I agree.
SPEAKER 14 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 14 :
I get it.
SPEAKER 07 :
We’re $37 trillion in debt. I could go on and on. I get it. Okay.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 07 :
You deserve your rage, but your rage doesn’t sell. You deserve your rage, but your rage is not good strategy. It’s not good strategy.
SPEAKER 14 :
Actually, let me take it one step further. It not only sells, it repels. Right. I’m going to add a word to that. So not only does it not sell, it repels. In other words, you become repulsive when you become that way, meaning nobody wants to listen to you.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right, and then they’ll say, but I’m right on these things. You know what? You are right. I agree with you on 99% of the issues. It doesn’t matter. Why don’t you let them hear how right you are? Your rage is voter repellent.
SPEAKER 14 :
Just let me give you another example.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, go ahead.
SPEAKER 14 :
As a business, all businesses make mistakes. There’s no such thing as a perfect business. If you own one, I’d like to meet you because I’ve never met one yet. I don’t care who you are. I don’t care whether you’re the biggest company in the world. Guess what? They make mistakes, have recalls, stuff happens because humans are there, Andy. And humans are by nature, we’re fallible. We all make mistakes and things happen. So there’s no such thing as a perfect business. So let me explain this, though. If in a situation you’re at your counter and a customer comes in with a complaint. And by the way, I’m not saying the customer in this case is right. In fact, the customer could very much be wrong. But they walk in and they’re irate about something. If you as an owner aren’t empathetic. You don’t stop to listen to them. You don’t let them voice their problem and opinions. Right. And all you do is immediately attack them for walking in and having this problem in the first place. Guess who loses, Andy? You do. The business does. Yes. Even though the business may very well be right. The customer could be completely wrong in what’s happening. And by the way, at the end of the day, if you’ve been empathetic and you’ve listened and you’ve tried to reason with them and they’re still irate, then yes, in my world, even as a coach, you have all the rights to fire them at that point if you want to. But you’ve got to do the other things on the front side. You have to be able to reason with them on the front side and get them to a point where they’re listening to you if, at the end of that time, they’re no longer listening and they’re swearing and they’re doing all sorts of things that they shouldn’t be doing. Then yes, you are free to ask them to leave and fire them at that point in time. But you’ve got to do the other things. Fire the customer? Fire the customer at that point.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, of course. But you got to keep in mind.
SPEAKER 14 :
But you got to do the other stuff first.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, you got to do that. I hear a lot of managers. I’ve heard them because I reason with them. I tell them absolutely everything you just said. And some of them, because they’re emotional, they’re angry.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right.
SPEAKER 07 :
And they want to think with their emotions, which, by the way, your emotions aren’t meant for. But they want to think with their emotions. And so they come back with this. Well, I don’t, you know, it’s not that big of a sale. I don’t really need them. Really? They got 10 friends. who have 10 friends. Don’t you understand? The entire world is viral. You can’t do that. You have to handle this as best as you can.
SPEAKER 14 :
And then at the end, like I said a moment ago, if you’ve done all those things correctly, and that person, because this is my other theory on this, if after doing all of that, you’ve rationalized, you’ve tried to calm the situation down, you’ve not come back at them with the same tone they’ve come at you at, and you’ve done everything you possibly can to get things settled, and they’re still that way, then here’s the thing. Fire them. Because here’s the reality. They probably don’t have any friends. Because nobody likes them and or they know they’re this way all the time. And even if they go out and badmouth you, they’re going to be thinking, yeah, well, you know, Joe, we know you’re that way all the time anyway. So, yeah, I’m not going to listen to what you have to say on this.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, my dad always put it this way. Make your story a good one.
SPEAKER 14 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay. And so, you know, yeah, they may be a bad person who’s going to go out and lie about you anyway, but your story is going to be a good one. Oh, actually, no. When they said that, here’s how I tried to reason with them. Right. And anybody listening to you, you know what you’re going to do? You’re actually going to gain your customers.
SPEAKER 14 :
You’re going to convince them. That’s exactly it. Now, the problem is, Andy, our site’s not doing any of that.
SPEAKER 07 :
No.
SPEAKER 14 :
We’re literally, as you said, we’re living on rage. That’s the only thing we’ve got that we’re actually being motivated by. We don’t understand the market. We don’t know how to talk to those folks. And by the way, folks listening that are in this camp, I’m not talking about reaching that far lefty. I’m not talking about that.
SPEAKER 07 :
No, no, no.
SPEAKER 14 :
Because you’re not going to reach them anyways. They’re not the target. Yeah, that’s not who we’re talking about. I’m talking about in Colorado, there’s about, what, Andy, 42% to 44% of what we call unaffiliated voters, 46%. What is it now?
SPEAKER 07 :
It’s been rising. It’s close to half now.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, so 50%.
SPEAKER 07 :
Close to half.
SPEAKER 14 :
So we’ve got 50% of what we call unaffiliated in Colorado. That’s their real name. They’re not independent. They’re called unaffiliated voters. Right. We’ve got 50% of those in that column that we have to try to reach.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. And we really have to because the Democrats outnumber us by quite a bit. After the break, can we talk one last time, because we’re going to have the vote this Saturday, about the opt-out? Because this is a prime example, John, of emotional people in the Republican Party not looking at the ballot.

TJ here with KLZ and Al Smith of Golden Eagle Financial. And Al, I have a question for you. I’ve been putting money away for a while in a savings account or maybe a couple of investment accounts, but what am I doing wrong and what can you do better than that?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, I think a savings account is important because all the financial gurus, including myself, agree you should have three to six months savings that you have ready liquid access to. But retirement planning is a bit more long-term and and it’s a bit more strategic. We want to take a look at the sum of money you’ll need way into the future, and we want to look at how that money can last by providing you income for as long as you live.
SPEAKER 11 :
What kind of planning or strategy do you provide for folks with that that have a big savings but haven’t made that next step?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, that’s a good question. If someone has a large amount in savings, one of the things I do is we have a conversation about their risk tolerance. Nobody’s comfortable losing money, but having money in the market over a long period of time is a mechanism to accumulate wealth. And so we talk about the different levels of risk and the different products that are available. And we don’t put everybody into one box, but I have an enormous assortment of financial products. And it’s not that there’s good ones or bad ones. It’s there are some that are more appropriate for some people, but not for others.
SPEAKER 11 :

And we are back, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 5CC. Okay, so Andy, what’s coming up this weekend and why is it such a big deal?
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, the opt-out, and it’s a really, really, really big deal. Okay, the opt-out of what? Yeah, that’s what I’m getting to. Okay. Right now we have open primaries in Colorado, just as a reminder.
SPEAKER 14 :
And why do we have those?
SPEAKER 07 :
Because they were voted in in January. By? Mainly unaffiliated voters.
SPEAKER 14 :
On a complete ballot initiative, though, where it wasn’t something legislatively done. This was done by the voters.
SPEAKER 07 :
This wasn’t forced on us by elected officials. The voters voted for this. And look, it was voted in by around, I think, seven points. But think about that for a moment, because, you know, Republicans voted overwhelmingly against it. So what does that mean unaffiliated did? They voted overwhelmingly for it. That means that the group, that half of the voters that you want to win, overwhelmingly wants open primaries. They want to be able to have a say in which candidates they are given. Now, in principle, do I like this? No, I do not. I like closed primaries.
SPEAKER 14 :
Can I explain why they want it, though?
SPEAKER 07 :
I’ll get to it in a sec.
SPEAKER 14 :
Go ahead.
SPEAKER 07 :
I just want to say, why do I support closed primaries? I think only Republicans should decide who represents Republicans in the general election. Okay? I think we should get to choose our own candidates. I agree with that in principle. The market doesn’t. Go ahead. Why?
SPEAKER 14 :
They feel, the unaffiliated voters, they feel in a lot of cases disenfranchised by both parties in some cases. Right. And they don’t like something that’s gone on at one time. They felt like caucus was the good old boys club, which by the way it is at times. They didn’t like this, that, or the other. They don’t like the way the party’s being run. They don’t like the fundraising. They don’t like this. There’s something they don’t like.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
I can go down the list of reasons that they don’t like it, so they become unaffiliated. But yet in their heart, especially those that are conservative unaffiliated, they still feel like they’re still a Republican.
SPEAKER 07 :
They do.
SPEAKER 14 :
And they still want to have a say in who runs in these elections that we have here in Colorado, even though they don’t want to put an R next to their name. Now, I get it. All of you purists out there would say, well, they shouldn’t be able to vote. If they’re not willing to put an R next to their name, then we should just kick them out and get off my lawn.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, OK. Well, guess what? You were just talking about the market. That’s your market. That’s the customer. And this is why you and I were talking to break. I always have a problem with these politicians who have never really been in business. And like you said, maybe they own a business, but have they had to work with the customers? Have you had to deal with a customer who is irate and comes in five minutes before you were planning and closing and going and having dinner with your wife? Have you dealt with that customer at that time? Well, no, then you’ve not. Benning customer service.
SPEAKER 14 :
No.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, you don’t know what it’s like. You don’t know the market. You don’t know the real world. You’re not ready for this, man. Okay? And, you know, by the way, Jeff Heard, you made a mistake with your market. A lot of your market is Republican voters. You’ve got to win the next primary. He will, but now it’s going to be harder. You forgot your market when you cast that vote. Okay? You angered a bunch of people you didn’t have to for no reason whatsoever. Now you’re paying the price. Okay. Getting back to the opt-out. a very small number of Republicans in Colorado really want to opt out of the open primary.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 07 :
But that group, the Davidians, as we usually call them, the Rhino Watchers, they own about half of the state central committee. And over half of the state central committee, which I am on, wants to opt out of the primary, forcefully opt out. In other words, we will no longer be in this open primary. OK, now the reason is they’re angry. They’ve been convinced by the Davidians, actually by Dave Williams himself. They have been convinced of these things. Number one, that Colorado Republicans haven’t won a statewide race since open primaries started. So open primaries are the problem.
SPEAKER 14 :
And really quick, I did look up. I wanted to double-check to see. Yeah, go ahead. It was 7% is what the margin of victory was, 7%.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, so I was right. I nailed it. 53 to 46. Oh, wow. I nailed it right on that. So you’re right on the money. What do you know?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, and obviously it was a much wider margin. It had to be amongst the unaffiliated. And so here’s the thing. First of all, they say, well, we haven’t won a state race since open primary started. Folks, we were on that exact trend line beforehand. We were trending down because Republican registrations were trending down at that rate. As you hit tipping points, you lose CD6. You lose any statewide race. You lose the attorney general. You lose all these things. You’re going to lose them. You’re going to lose both senator positions. We were trending. That was going to happen anyway. And it did. And it happened right when it was going to happen. We hit that tipping point and continued down. Open primaries, correlation does not equal causation. Open primaries did not cause us to lose anything.
SPEAKER 14 :
We were already on our way.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. It’s totally a fallacy. Well, then the Davidians will come out and say, open primaries give our enemies the right to vote for our candidates so they can choose the weakest one.
SPEAKER 14 :
It doesn’t really work that way either. Well, it actually works the opposite.
SPEAKER 07 :
Our enemies are going to want to vote for candidates on our side who they think will lose.
SPEAKER 14 :
Like Ron Hanks.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes, they’re going to. And how do we know that? Because.
SPEAKER 14 :
We’ve seen it.
SPEAKER 07 :
Because where do they spend their money? They spend their money. The Democrats literally spend their money helping the very same candidates that the Davidians want.
SPEAKER 14 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 14 :
Because they know at the end of the day, they’re the easiest to defeat, Andy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
And they are.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. You put your money where your hopes are. Okay. And that’s what they do. And I can go through this. Look, bottom line. Here’s what happens. If all the reasons for opting out don’t hold up, I don’t have time to go into it. We just don’t have time. But I did a long post on it this morning. I did two posts. Okay. And the second post was, okay, now what is wrong with opting out? I first dealt with their arguments, then gave mine. First of all, by opting out, Republicans would send a clear message to Colorado’s unaffiliated voters, half the voters in the state, which is what, John? Get off our lawn.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yep. Get off my lawn. Right.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. There’s no way to sugarcoat that. Okay?
SPEAKER 14 :
That’s what you’re telling them.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah. And what’s the main reason we want to throw them out? Because, as we keep saying, they give us bad candidates.
SPEAKER 14 :
No, they don’t.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, no, they don’t. But think about that for a moment. Then your message is, we don’t like our candidates. So, first of all, you’re bashing your own candidates. And you’re saying, and it’s your fault, not ours. So, we’re blaming you, unaffiliated voters, because we have bad candidates. Wow. That’s your messaging. It’s awful. Okay. Oh, it’s unbelievable. Next, opting out literally means our tax dollars would buy free advertising for Democrats. You see, all those primary ballots, they’re still going to go out. And they’re going to go to all those millions of unaffiliated voters who we need to win. Only they’re only going to have Democrat names on them.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 07 :
Because we’re out of it.
SPEAKER 14 :
Meaning you just lost all your advertisement.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. But your tax dollars are funding free advertising for the Democrat Party. Way to go. Okay? And for two months, because that’s primary season, Coloradoans will have no reason to talk about your party, only theirs. Yep. John, you tell me in business, what businessman wants all the customers to spend two months only looking at their competitor?
SPEAKER 14 :
None.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. Now, there are a lot of other reasons I don’t have time to go into it. Bottom line is this.
SPEAKER 14 :
Really quick, last but not least, how can we afford to even do this?
SPEAKER 07 :
We can’t. Oh, yeah. Some people think, well, then we’ll have our closed primary. No, you don’t understand. We have no money. We don’t have the lawyers. We don’t have the volunteers. We don’t have anything that it would take. to hold our own primary. So if we’re gonna have, if we get out of the open primary, that means we’re gonna choose our candidates through caucus and assembly, which are attended by well under 1% of Colorado Republicans. And people come back and say, well, everybody’s welcome to attend caucus and assembly. Hey, you don’t understand. It doesn’t matter who can. It matters who will. And when you come out and say, we’re going to require a system that 99% of Republicans don’t attend, don’t tell me you’re representing the grassroots. You just threw them out. Guys, you’re making it so you can’t choose your own candidates. And you’re doing it while insulting half the state’s voters. And you are going to pay for free advertising for the other side. It’s the worst decision imaginable. And getting back to why, John, emotion.
SPEAKER 14 :
