SPEAKER 08 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 09 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 10 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did! Get a job, Turk!
SPEAKER 08 :
You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 02 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 07 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 20 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 21 :
All right, we are back. Hour number two, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Richard, Andy, NFL Picks. Richard’s only going to be with us half an hour because Richard has trick-or-treat duty tonight. So, Richard, are you with us?
SPEAKER 06 :
I am. Andy, what is your costume for Halloween tonight? Oh, I’m not dressing up. I’m handing out.
SPEAKER 08 :
Andy, what is your costume?
SPEAKER 06 :
You have to dress up for the little kitties. I’m dressed as an old man. An old white dude. An old white dude. I’m the scariest thing in America. I’m an old white dude.
SPEAKER 21 :
That’s hilarious.
SPEAKER 06 :
You fit that very well, Andy. There you go. Really quick question here, Richard. I know you’re going to be taking your kids out trick-or-treating, and they’re going to get a lot of candy. Will you eat it all, or are you going to let them have some?
SPEAKER 08 :
You know, Andy, we allow them to divvy it up. Mom divvies it up so they also have a little snack or a little treat at school for the next few weeks as well. And then, honestly, we end up donating a lot of it because they just get so much, especially, Andy, when you’re like myself and you have four. you’re quadrupling up on the amount of candy that they get. So there’s just no need for all that money.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, no, no, no. There’s no such thing as too much candy. Okay, having grown up and trick-or-treated a lot myself, I was a greedy little thing. The more the better.
SPEAKER 21 :
Candy, candy, candy, candy, candy.
SPEAKER 08 :
Exactly. Andy, I will say, and I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you. However, when you get an 8, 6, 3, and 2-year-old on a sugar high, it makes for an interesting evening. Yes, it would. Yes, it would.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, are you ready for a little NFL picks? Go for it, guys. Okay, here we go. All right, Richard, we’re going to start off with a good, interesting game. The Bears are on the road. They’re two and a half point favorites at the Bengals. What would this game look like with Joe Burrow? I mean, are the Bears headed for five and two?
SPEAKER 08 :
um me i well andy honestly i thought last week against the ravens they were headed for for for five and you know three whatever it was last week i guess five and three or your five and two last week and then six and two this week but they they let me down but andy i i don’t know where the bangles are at to me i still struggle with old joe well with the bangles with with flacco um there’s a chance he doesn’t play i know he’s questionable right now you know he’s got an old guy injury basically um I just don’t know what to make of them, Andy. And honestly, with the Bears, I feel like, again, we’ve talked about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, right? Yeah. And they feel like one of those teams to me, that you just don’t know what you’re going to get from week to week. Part of that’s due to Caleb Williams, a little bit of an inexperienced quarterback in a lot of regards. But, you know, Andy, I’ll go with the Bears here, even though they let me down last week. I’ll go with them here just because I just don’t know if the Bengals have got anything, to be honest with you.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, I agree. And, by the way, I’m going to go with the Bears, and thank you for the Jekyll and Hyde reference on Halloween. Well done. Next game, the Vikings are on the road at the Lions. Lions are big favorites. Nine and a half points. Are the Lions surging as a top team again?
SPEAKER 08 :
They are surging, Andy. I think it took them a little bit to figure out their new coordinators, right, in a lot of ways, especially on the offensive side of the ball. And the Vikings are doing the exact opposite, Andy, where they started strong. And I actually think Kevin O’Connell is a really good head coach. I just don’t know if he has a team this year. I mean, dare I say a team messed up by letting Sam Darnold go, but that certainly appears to be the case. They probably should have paid whatever the Seahawks did plus some. to keep him, and I know they couldn’t because they had J.J. McCarthy waiting in the wings, but unless he does something, Andy, that you and I are likely not expecting… I just don’t know if he’s got it, and I’ll arrange for his team. But, yeah, this will be the Lions by a lot.
SPEAKER 06 :
I know it’s a divisional game, but it doesn’t really matter. You know, I think McCarthy is going to be real good, but he’s got to get healthy and actually have a full season under his belt, and then it’ll be better. I’ll take the Lions as well. Next game, the Carolina Panthers are on the road at my Green Bay Packers. Packers favored by 13.5. Trap game? What’s that line again, Andy? 13-and-a-half. Last I saw. For the Packers. For the Packers. It’s a little bit of a trap. Bryce Young’s back, though, isn’t he, Andy? Yeah. Yeah, he is. I don’t think Green Bay’s going to win by that much, but will they win? This is one of those games where a team just catches up with, you know, sneaks up on you and suddenly pounds you. Another big problem is this. The Panthers can really run the ball, and Green Bay struggles with that. So I don’t know.
SPEAKER 08 :
It could be a little bit of a letdown, Andy. You know, obviously, big game last week against Rogers, which kind of went a little bit different than you and I anticipated. I still think that the Packers will win here. But, yeah, do they cover? Man, that’s a lot of points in the NFL, especially against the Panthers team with Bryce Young back that I feel like not surging, but maybe, again, they’re just a feisty team, right, Andy? That’s what I’m going to call them.
SPEAKER 06 :
They are.
SPEAKER 08 :
The Panthers are a feisty team.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, we’ll both take the Packers. Next game, the Chargers are favored by 9.5 at everybody’s favorite whipping boy, the Tennessee Titans. Are the Titans headed for the top pick? Can the Chargers’ offensive line finally recover from their injuries? They got two great tackles who are out, I believe, for the year. Are they basically done as any kind of a contender, or can they make a run at this?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, I think Alt’s back, Andy, if I’m not mistaken. Oh, is Alt back?
SPEAKER 06 :
I thought he was out longer.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay. Yeah, I think he actually came back last week. But, yeah, the Titans are just, they’re the whipping boy. And I think they’re going to surprise a few teams, you know, kind of later on in the year when a, you know, maybe when a team’s not expecting them to. Yeah. I just don’t see Jim Harbaugh allowing the Chargers to do that. And, you know, honestly, Walt and I were going through some of the games this week, the remaining games. And some of these teams, they’ve got to make sure they win these. Otherwise, it’s going to be a rough season. potential into their season and that’s for the chargers so they got to make sure they take care of business i think they will um but it could be tighter than than most things just because again i think the titans uh again they’re not quite as feisty as the panthers andy but they’re they’re they’re like meowing yeah well it’s halloween and maybe it’ll be scary in the third quarter and then the chargers wake up in the fourth okay i’ll take the chargers next game the falcons
SPEAKER 06 :
who have really kind of fallen off of late. They’re on the road at the Patriots. Patriots favored by 5.5. This seems like a solid Patriots team. Can the Falcons surprise?
SPEAKER 08 :
It is a solid Patriots team, Andy, although I’m not sold on May yet. I actually saw a stat today that basically he’s been playing bottom defenses, and I guess he hasn’t thrown more than 26 passes in any of their wins. which is a very interesting stat, and I don’t think the opponents have scored more than 20 points. Well, let me jump in.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’ve got to ask you a question before you run on from that, because Drake May is a very talented young guy, but they’re using him like a game manager, and sometimes coaches do this to bring a guy along. Do you think they’re doing it the right way?
SPEAKER 08 :
You know, Andy, I can see, especially with Brable being a defensive guy, I could see that. I don’t know. Maybe it’s like Bo Nix where they’re kind of maybe trying to hide a few things. I just don’t know. That being said, Andy, I think that the Falcons, honestly, I think Pennix should be treated a little bit more like game manager. They should rely a lot more on John Robinson than they do. Agreed. And I think the Falcons actually have a pretty good defense, especially with Raheem Morris as their head coach. Again, with all that being said, Andy, I’m going to take the Patriots at home. I just don’t trust the Falcons yet, and I could be surprised. I just don’t trust the Falcons. I don’t trust Pennix.
SPEAKER 06 :
I agree. Okay, and next game gets interesting now. Let’s whip through these 49ers, two-and-a-half-point favorites against the Giants. Can San Fran recover from recent struggles, or are they just a pretty good team?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, Andy, I’m going to flip it back to you. I actually thought about this before we came on. Is San Francisco, because they were kind of the darling, right? You know, Shanahan overcoming these injuries. You’ve got Max Jones playing pretty well. Then last week happened. Are they losing their luster, or was that a bump in the road?
SPEAKER 06 :
I think they’re losing their luster. I really do. I’m not saying they’ll lose to the Giants. I think neither team is that impressive. But right now, I don’t look at the Niners as a real contender. What do you think?
SPEAKER 08 :
I think they’re a solid team, Andy. They just, they struggle with injuries. And I think Brock Purdy is actually a, I think that when he comes back, I think that elevates them a little bit, especially over Mac Jones. they’ve just got a lot of injuries to overcome. So, again, with all that said, I’m going to take the Niners here. Although, Andy, I don’t necessarily like taking the Niners here because it’s a West Coast team traveling to the East Coast. So that’s my caveat.
SPEAKER 06 :
I was going to take the Niners, but we haven’t disagreed yet. So I’m going to switch to the Giants just so we can be different. Okay, next game. Colts are on the road at Steelers. Colts favored by 3.5. Do the Colts keep rolling, or can the Steelers start playing defense? Because their defense is awful.
SPEAKER 08 :
I’m going to flip it back on you again. What does Vegas know that we don’t? Why is this line so close?
SPEAKER 06 :
I have no idea. I think the Colts roll, and I don’t care that the Steelers are at home. I guess because, and here’s the thing, you know, obviously I got to watch the Packers play the Steelers. I was surprised. Aaron looks really good. It wasn’t him. It’s their defense.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, Andy, the only thing for me is with the Colts moving forward, and I don’t think it’ll happen this game, they have actually had the fourth easiest schedule to date. True. They have the fourth hardest schedule to finish the season. So I will be really curious if the Colts… Obviously, they’re not going to finish the season with one loss. They’ll get several more. The question is when. But… The Steelers’ defense, Andy, right now is terrible. Awesome. I mean, which is crazy to be saying of a Tomlin coach team and a Steelers team because their defenses, even when they’re bad, are pretty good. But I think they’re the 30th ranked defense right now. And when you’ve got some of the high-priced veterans they have, namely T.J. Watt and some of the other guys, I just don’t like that. So with that being said, Andy, I’m going to go with the Colts here on the road. I think their magic keeps going, at least for another few weeks.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I agree. By the way, both of our teams, Packers and Broncos, got to play teams with absolutely zero defense last week. It’s a lot of fun to do that because you just score at will. Everybody’s open. It’s just so much fun. Speaking of the Broncos, they’re on the road this week at the Texans who are favored by one and a half. Why on earth is Houston favored? I’m going to tell you right now, there’s no way I’m picking Houston.
SPEAKER 08 :
Perfect, Danny, because we’re going to differ because I’m going to do my normal trick and it’s going to pay off. And Their defense is really good. That’s probably the best defense the Broncos have played this year. Well, and I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I think that’s what’s happening. And, Andy, I think that they are seeing maybe the Texans’ offense come alive, although this will be the best defense the Texans have played all year. And their offensive line is kind of their weak point, and that’s our strong suit, Andy. So even without Patrick Sertan… whatever it is, I think that our defensive line has the capabilities to overrun, literally overrun that offensive line at times and really make life difficult for C.J. Stroud. However, again, my phrase this week has been, with that being said, and I’m going to keep that, with that being said, I’m going to pick the Texans to beat my Broncos only for the idea that if I’m wrong, then it’s a great day.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I’m picking the Broncos. The only thing I’d worry about if I were the Broncos is hamstring injuries as your defensive front seven runs wind sprints at Houston’s quarterback. Okay, I’m sorry. They have no offensive line. They came alive last week against a Patsy. Now they’ve got to play a real team. I think you’re going to kill them. Next game, the Jaguars favored by two and a half at the Raiders. We’ve got to go through these next few real quick. Can the Jags bounce back? Are the Raiders just terrible again?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, Jags just put Travis Henter on IR, but the Raiders are terrible, Andy. Geno kind of had a couple good years there in Seattle. He’s not the answer. They’re going to be searching for a quarterback. Honestly, the Raiders should go get Shador Sanders, which is what you and I said they should have been doing in the draft anyways. The Raiders should go get Shador Sanders from the Browns. throw him in there see what he’s got for the latter half of this season and then make a determination of what you need to do next year but i don’t want to watch the same way with the line of the colts game i don’t know why the line is so low on the jags in this one i’m going to go with the jags and to cover just because it seems so crazy to me
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, and by the way, if Gino is the answer, good Lord, what’s the question? Okay, I’m sorry. I agree with you. I’m going to take the Jags. Next game, the Saints are on the road at the Rams. Here’s Quickie. Rams are favored by 14.5. Are the Rams becoming a Super Bowl favorite?
SPEAKER 08 :
I don’t know about favorite, Andy, but they’re definitely right up there in the NFC especially. And then you put that on top of the Saints are just – Is anyone more awful than the Saints this year, Andy?
SPEAKER 06 :
They need to play the Titans. I want the Saints and the Titans to face off.
SPEAKER 08 :
I actually think they play later this year, Andy. I’ve got to check on that.
SPEAKER 06 :
They may actually play. I want to see a game where both quarterbacks are handing off to the other team. I think this would be very exciting.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, this will be something, Andy. But, yeah, the Saints are going to get demolished here. Although, Chuck, they’re starting their rookie quarterback. He may show a little something. We’ll see. But, yeah, the Rams are going to win.
SPEAKER 06 :
He’s going to be running for his life. Okay, here’s a game of two, I believe, overrated teams. The Chiefs are favored by one and a half on the road against the Bills. Which Bills team shows up?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, that’s another interesting spread, Andy, to me, because I guess maybe that’s the question, which Bills team does show up. Although, Josh Allen does seem to play his very best when the quarterback on the other side is really good, right? You know, the Ravens earlier this year, he did that. Obviously, Patrick Mahomes coming in. Although, the Chiefs are surging a little bit, Andy. They’re sort of finding…
SPEAKER 06 :
I will pick the opposite of whoever you take, just so we can be different. I’ll tell you that right now. I think both teams are overrated, and I don’t care about this game. Sorry.
SPEAKER 08 :
It is. Okay. Chiefs here, Andy, because again, my Broncos logic, if I’m wrong, I’ll be happy.
SPEAKER 06 :
There you go. I’ll take the Bills. Next game, the Seahawks, who I think are really starting to assert themselves. They’re on the road at the Commanders. Seahawks favored by 3.5. Yeah, they are, Andy.
SPEAKER 08 :
This is a Sunday night game. Jaden Daniels is coming back, which I think is a really interesting proposition, in my opinion, for them. He’s a player. He is their team this year. But the Seahawks, Andy, are just really talented. They’re just solid. Let me just say it that way, right? They’re just kind of a really solid, well-put-together team. You know, Andy, I’m going to go with the Seahawks here only because I just don’t know on the commanders. I just haven’t seen enough this year.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I’m going to take the Seahawks as well. Okay, last game, I’m just going to say four words. Cardinals, Cowboys, who cares?
SPEAKER 08 :
Who does, Gary, Andy? Especially when you have another Jacoby Brissett may start for them. Although I will say this, Andy, again, speaking from experience for the Broncos, if there’s a get-right team, your offense needs to get right, you need to play the Cowboys. And that’s obviously what’s going to happen this week. However, the Cardinals I just don’t think are a very good team. I think that they’re kind of held together at the seams in a way, a lot of ways. So I’m going to go with the Cowboys here just because I think that they’ll outscore the Cardinals at the end of the day.
SPEAKER 21 :
I’ll go with the Cowboys, too. And that’s it, John. All right. Paul Leuenberger is up next when it comes to insurance. Yes, you need insurance. We all do. Paul can help you with that, save you money at the same time. And, again, easy. Just give Paul a call, 303-662-0789.

SPEAKER 21 :
All right, up next, Flesh Law, 303-806-8886. Call Kevin today.
SPEAKER 17 :
Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence. The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist’s perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know. Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and were witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth? Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. SPEAKER 21 :
All right, we are back. Favorite scary movies. We can make one round with Richard before we let him go, so go ahead, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I’m going to do this clip. It’s obviously The Shining with Jack Nicholson. We all know the line at the end, but it’s all pretty good. Here we go.
SPEAKER 10 :
Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in. Not by the hair on your chinny-chin-chin. And I’ll blow your house in.
SPEAKER 21 :
Everybody’s chopping the front door down.
SPEAKER 1 :
Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER 21 :
Honey, I’m home.
SPEAKER 09 :
Here’s Johnny.
SPEAKER 06 :
Here’s Johnny. Now, for the record, my wife screams like that with all door-to-door salesmen. Oh, gotcha. Yeah, so it’s always the same. Gotcha. It’s a classic scene. It really is.
SPEAKER 21 :
Oh, you think?
SPEAKER 06 :
What an actor. You knew this guy had an unbelievable future. Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 08 :
Andy, for Halloween, I feel like only one movie can do it justice, which is It.
SPEAKER 21 :
Oh, yeah. Classic. I’ve never seen that movie.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, you haven’t?
SPEAKER 21 :
No, I don’t watch scary movies unless I absolutely have to. It was very well done. I used to a lot when I was a kid, but I don’t anymore.
SPEAKER 08 :
Didn’t Spielberg do that one, Richard? Or no? I don’t know. Actually, I’ve got it pulled up. Hold on here. I’m not sure. Did he do it?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, I wouldn’t say so. Okay, I guess I thought it was just because it had that feel. Yeah, he’s done some. Poltergeist, that kind of thing. John, you’re up.
SPEAKER 21 :
Let’s go back in time because this was scary when I was a kid. Poltergeist.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, that was classic.
SPEAKER 21 :
All right, Richard, that was your first round. We’ll let you go. We’ll let John from Cheyenne chime in. Go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 07 :
I don’t want to steal them all. Go ahead. Old school here. The Omen.
SPEAKER 21 :
Oh, yeah. That is a good one.
SPEAKER 07 :
That one scared the crap out of me. Yeah, that was a freaky one. That was icky. And great acting. I mean, well, any movie with Gregory Peck, you can’t usually go wrong. And then the other one that I think scared the crap out of all of us I saw at a movie theater was the original Halloween.
SPEAKER 21 :
Oh, yeah. Yeah, it’s on my list.
SPEAKER 07 :
Because how many times did Carpenter in that movie pull you to the edge of the chair, and then nothing happened, and then all of a sudden it just went, the last 20 minutes just went insane. Brilliantly directed. Oh, you know, they make all these sequels, but you go back and watch the originals, and they’re just so good.
SPEAKER 21 :
True.
SPEAKER 07 :
And some of these sequels are so bad.
SPEAKER 21 :
True.
SPEAKER 1 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 07 :
You guys have a great weekend.
SPEAKER 21 :
You too, John. Appreciate you, man, as always. All right, Andy, take it away.
SPEAKER 06 :
Halloween scared me to the core. I just want you to know. I was pretty young when I watched that. Okay, here’s another one that scared me to the core. Scary movie. Here we go.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m going to tell you all the rules to survive this situation. Rule number one. Don’t answer the phone. I’m in the house. Do you know where I am?
SPEAKER 20 :
You’re behind the couch. I can, um, see your feet.
SPEAKER 10 :
What? Don’t talk to reporters.
SPEAKER 04 :
The press only wants to interview the most ignorant person they can find. Oh, jeez! First cops, now this?
SPEAKER 10 :
And whatever you do, don’t be afraid to rise to the occasion.
SPEAKER 21 :
Scary movie.
SPEAKER 06 :
Throws out his bag.
SPEAKER 21 :
That’s actually pretty funny.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, Scary Movie was hilarious, John. I can watch that so many times.
SPEAKER 21 :
Actually, yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
They got really weak after that, but the first one was great.
SPEAKER 21 :
Agree.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, you’re up.
SPEAKER 21 :
The Conjuring.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 21 :
Old movie again.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did you like The Conjuring?
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, it was good.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, because you… I shouldn’t say old.
SPEAKER 21 :
Well, I guess it is old. It’s 20… What is it now? 12 years old? Fair enough. 13 years old now?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, yeah. Okay, let’s do… Here’s one, because… Oh, man. Alligators scare the daylights out of me. We’ve got to do Crawl. Here we go. And this is, once again… The story, folks, in Crawl is… There’s a huge hurricane that hits the southern coast. Her dad is trapped in their basement, and alligators are everywhere. They’ve come all over. Here we go. Hello, can anybody hear me?
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m trapped with my father in our house in Coral Lake.
SPEAKER 1 :
Coral Lake!
SPEAKER 14 :
Police, send help! Really? Wait down here!
SPEAKER 19 :
Pete, you hear that? In less than an hour, we’ll be underwater!
SPEAKER 09 :
Ranging on the pipes blurs their senses.
SPEAKER 19 :
I can distract them for you. You got this!
SPEAKER 07 :
You need to go now.
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m not leaving you here!
SPEAKER 06 :
I tell you what, those movies scare me more than the scary ghost movies. I just can’t deal with reptiles. I’m sorry.
SPEAKER 21 :
Can’t argue that.
SPEAKER 06 :
It was terrifying. Okay, you’re up.
SPEAKER 21 :
Cujo. Cujo. It was your St. Bernard. Wasn’t that what he was?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 21 :
The rabid St. Bernard.
SPEAKER 06 :
That was very scary.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, you never knew what he was going to do next.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Well, here’s one that was really good. It came out a couple years ago. Evil Dead Rise. Just like Crawl, I gave this four stars. Here we go. I’m getting this out of you.
SPEAKER 14 :
You’ll be a good mom someday, honey-bath. Oh yeah? Yeah. You know how to lie to kids.
SPEAKER 10 :
Mom? Mommy’s with the maggots now.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, Mom was possessed. And Mom was really bad. But Evil Dead Rise actually had a really good pace to it, John. It was very intense, very bloody. Of course, it was a horror flick all the way. It was really well directed. So if you want to really get scared, there you go. Evil Dead Rise. You were up.
SPEAKER 21 :
This one you’ve got to help me with the title. Maybe Charlie knows, too, because I didn’t have time to look this up. But it was, I believe, I don’t think it’s called The Fog because there’s a movie similar to this. But it was about the mist where they’re in the grocery store and eventually they’ve got to sacrifice the one kid to save all of them. Is that the movie I’m thinking of, Charlie? Is it called The Mist? Is that right?
SPEAKER 06 :
Was that The Mist? Charlie, I can’t remember because I didn’t see all of The Mist, honestly.
SPEAKER 21 :
At the end, they end up having to sacrifice. I believe it’s that. They end up having to sacrifice the one kid at the end.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s terrible. To save everybody.
SPEAKER 21 :
That’s awful. And it is. Okay, and it is that one, Charlie. Thank you. So The Mist.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Wow. That’s really bad.
SPEAKER 21 :
Andy, it’s freaky.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 21 :
Okay, well, here’s one that… It sort of has kind of the Messiah, you know, Jesus kind of theme. It’s like sacrifice one to save all sort of thing. Interesting. Yeah, Stephen King. It’s weird.
SPEAKER 06 :
There you go. Okay, here’s one that’s more of an action film, but, you know, it’s got the horror element to it, and it’s a lot of fun. Hansel and Gretel, Witch Hunters.
SPEAKER 09 :
Me and my sister, we have a past. We almost died at the hands of a witch. But that past made us stronger. We’d gotten a taste of blood. Witch blood. And we haven’t stopped since.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, and that starred, as you can hear there, Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton. And they were really good. It was a funny movie. It was, you know, bloody, obviously. But I thought it was really good. Did you ever see it?
SPEAKER 21 :
No.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s stupid fun. I think you’d enjoy it. Okay, you’re up.
SPEAKER 21 :
I mentioned this movie a couple weeks ago, but it’s just… And I don’t think… Charlie, did you ever see Substance? Did you ever see the whole thing with Demi Moore? It’s freaky. Don’t watch it. It’s… It’s not that it is scary, though.
SPEAKER 06 :
It was too gross, man.
SPEAKER 21 :
It’s freaky. It’s just all in all freaky.
SPEAKER 06 :
I hated that movie.
SPEAKER 21 :
I did, too.
SPEAKER 06 :
I really did.
SPEAKER 21 :
That’s a one-timer for me.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I didn’t even, even though I very much admired her performance.
SPEAKER 21 :
Uh-huh.
SPEAKER 06 :
It was excellent. She was lights out.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
I thought the movie was awful. It was awful. I did not find it entertaining at all.
SPEAKER 21 :
Worst ending ever.
SPEAKER 06 :
And by the way, you didn’t listen to me because it didn’t. I tell you don’t watch that movie.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, and I should have listened. I wasted time watching it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Wasting your time on that. Okay. Another thing that scares me, I talked about alligators. Let’s get to sharks. 47 meters down, two girls down in one of those shark cages. It breaks, and they are trapped. Here we go.
SPEAKER 01 :
We’re going to send out extra air tanks. It’s alive!
SPEAKER 1 :
It’s alive!
SPEAKER 06 :
47 meters down a lot of screaming in that and that was not the sharks that was the girl screaming and the two things that i thought were really interesting about that movie number one of course that you have both of them are miked while they’re down there and they actually are you can so they can talk to each other and talk to people up on the right boat But secondly, the water was very cloudy, and so you couldn’t see them coming from a distance. Oh, my gosh. It was so scary.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, no thanks. Okay, you’re up. Okay, here’s one that I will not watch because you’ve talked enough about it, and you’ve even played some clips from it. So I’m already – I can’t watch it, and that’s fall.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, here we go.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, I can’t watch it.
SPEAKER 06 :
And that is the one where they are way up on a tower.
SPEAKER 21 :
Radio tower, right.
SPEAKER 06 :
And they’re trapped. They can’t get down because their way down is falling apart. Right. Here we go.
SPEAKER 14 :
Hunter, how do we get down? I don’t have a signal.
SPEAKER 09 :
The water is down there in that bag.
SPEAKER 14 :
We have 50 feet of rope. I think I can drop myself lower. Okay, I’m going to jump onto the bag. Hunter, no! Hunter! Every hour that passes, the weaker we get. If anyone called 911, they’d be here by now. What is it that Dan used to say? If you’re scared of dying, don’t be afraid to live.
SPEAKER 06 :
Now there is a, I gave it four stars, a four-star movie I never want to see again.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, no thanks. I can’t watch it once. Because I’m a coward. I’m serious. I can’t watch it once.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, here’s a four-star movie that I have watched many times, Lake Placid. And that’s with a big crocodile. Here we go.
SPEAKER 09 :
Honestly, I don’t know. And a few parts. Missing. It’s a human toe. Is this the man who was killed? He seemed taller.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, my God.
SPEAKER 09 :
Bill Pullman. Shoot him. No! How much of a wacko is this guy? Bridget Fonda. Watch out! Mother… Oliver Platt.
SPEAKER 15 :
Maybe he swam back out.
SPEAKER 10 :
Maybe not.
SPEAKER 06 :
Lake Placid.
SPEAKER 21 :
This summer.
SPEAKER 06 :
One of the funniest horror movies I have ever seen in my life.
SPEAKER 21 :
Really?
SPEAKER 06 :
Very, very funny and just very well written. Extremely well written. So there you go, Lake Placid.
SPEAKER 21 :
John, you were up. When I was a kid, this was really scary back in the day. I don’t know if it is today because it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, but Salem’s Lot.
SPEAKER 06 :
I never saw it.
SPEAKER 21 :
It was a teen movie kind of thing back in the day.
SPEAKER 06 :
Pretty scary?
SPEAKER 21 :
It was back then, yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, here’s a movie that really scared me. And the CGI, especially for the time, was unbelievable. Just incredible special effects for the time. Silent Hill. And what it is, is this woman is looking for her daughter and she winds up in a ghost village. Here we go.
SPEAKER 14 :
I don’t know what’s happening. Do you know what’s going on here? This place is completely cut off.
SPEAKER 18 :
Only the dark one opens and closes the door to sad and ill.
SPEAKER 1 :
Hey!
SPEAKER 11 :
Where is she? I’m trying to find my wife.
SPEAKER 14 :
She looks exactly like Sharon. Why? Rose, come on! Rose, hurry! It’s coming!
SPEAKER 06 :
It was terrifying. It really was. And they had the camera work where you got these creatures moving in really awkward, weird ways. I hate that. I do, just so you know. Okay, you’re up.
SPEAKER 21 :
Silent Hill. I’m probably not going to say this right, because I know there was a movie, but it wasn’t the first one. What’s Chucky the Doll? What was the first movie?
SPEAKER 06 :
Child’s Play.
SPEAKER 21 :
Is that what it’s called, Child’s Play?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. Yeah, freaky.
SPEAKER 21 :
I didn’t watch any others because that one was bad enough. And there were sequels, and I didn’t watch any others.
SPEAKER 06 :
Chucky is a bad dude.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, I didn’t like that movie at all.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, the next one is probably a four-and-a-half-star movie. I mean, it was before my time. I didn’t review it.
SPEAKER 21 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
But this was Spielberg, I believe. Or no, no, no, no, no, no, no. This was Rob Reiner. And oh, my gosh, was it awful. Misery. Here we go. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
Dirty bird. How could you? Misery Chastain cannot be dead!
SPEAKER 02 :
Misery Spirit is still alive.
SPEAKER 14 :
I don’t want her spirit! I want her! And you murdered her! You don’t think he’s dead, do you? And don’t even think about anybody coming for you, because I never called them. Nobody knows you’re here. And you better hope nothing happens to me. Because if I die, you die.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, Kathy Bates, James Caan. Now, the interesting thing is, in real life, of course, she was a diehard Democrat and he was a Republican. No wonder she did all that to him. I think it makes sense now. What do you think?
SPEAKER 21 :
Yep, I think you’re right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, gosh. And that’s a great movie that I’ll never see again. There are some that just make me really cringe. When she hobbles them, no. Thank you, no.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yep. Okay, John, you’re up. Believe it or not, Gremlins.
SPEAKER 06 :
They were scary.
SPEAKER 21 :
Because there were parts that just got like, wait a minute, these things get wet and now they’re like little monsters.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, with the big teeth and the claws.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, they were nasty.
SPEAKER 06 :
They were nasty. But they were still very mischievous.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, they were.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Heroes 1. Have you seen Tremors?
SPEAKER 21 :
No, I never have. John, you’ve got to see Tremors. No, I have not seen Tremors.
SPEAKER 06 :
It is a really good movie. Here we go.
SPEAKER 19 :
Where they come from. I vote for outer space. No way these are local boys. You see, they’re headed right for us!
SPEAKER 10 :
No Richter scale can measure it.
SPEAKER 1 :
They’re coming!
SPEAKER 10 :
No scientist can explain it.
SPEAKER 14 :
Bert! They’re under the ground! You didn’t get penetration even with the elephant gun. Run, run!
SPEAKER 10 :
And no one knows what to call it. Megaworms or suckers or suckwits.
SPEAKER 20 :
Now, this valley is just one long smorgasbord.
SPEAKER 10 :
Now, it’s up to Val and Earl to save the world. That’s one big mother. Who died and made you Einstein? And they know just what to do. Flip for it. Damn!
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, that’s Kevin Bacon, and what it is is basically a little town of hicks, for the most part, and one scientist having to deal with these monsters coming up under the ground. Very well-written, excellent pace. You will not be bored. You will have fun, and you’ll laugh. Tremors.
SPEAKER 21 :
Tremors, okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
There you go.
SPEAKER 21 :
Good to know. Let’s do this. I’ll go, and then we’ll have Joe go next. Oh, gosh, there’s so many. How about Sixth Sense?
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yeah. Creepy.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, it was a really creepy movie.
SPEAKER 04 :
Beautifully done.
SPEAKER 21 :
Joe, you’re next.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, you took one of mine, which was Tremors, which was a guilty pleasure. By the way, do you know Reba McEntire was in that movie? Oh, yeah. Really? Yeah, yeah. She was great. Yeah, and Reba McEntire. But next to The Exorcist, one of the scariest ones, I think, was Poltergeist. Steven Spielberg, the little blonde girl, they’re here.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 04 :
She was great. And then they had that short little fat woman, exorcist, whatever she was, a little short woman who was communicating with the other side. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. She was wonderful. The spirit guide. Yeah. And there’s the one scene where the mother, and she’s out in the pool, and all of a sudden an old corpse pops up in the pool. Do you remember that scene in the pool? Oh, yeah. She falls into the pool during a rainstorm. And this old corruption, because the house was built on an Indian burial ground. And that was just… And also, the first aliens scared the crap out of me. Oh, yeah, I agree. Well, how about this?
SPEAKER 06 :
Every one of the aliens did. I mean, they’re just such horrifying creatures.
SPEAKER 04 :
They are horrifying creatures. And… Peter Blatty in The Exorcist, what another scary movie.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, that’s a one-timer.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, Linda Blair.
SPEAKER 21 :
Don’t need to see that one again.
SPEAKER 06 :
Joe, really quick here before you go on. What kind of movies scare you more? Because I think it’s different for everybody. The ghost, you know, where people are taken over. Okay, movies like that, like The Exorcist.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, dealing with evil. Yeah, dealing with evil. It’s a battle of, you know, it’s basically the plot is a battle of good versus evil.
SPEAKER 06 :
Exactly. Or monsters like aliens or crawl or things like that. What scares you more?
SPEAKER 04 :
You know, depending on how well the picture’s made, you know, again, I thought Aliens was a great movie, but I put it on par with, it’s like steak and lobster. They’re two equal, they can be equally scary. Edge of your seat, but just different genres of scary. You know, if you want to go into aliens, you can look at aliens with Arnold Schwarzenegger. What was the name of that? Predator. Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, face on that thing.
SPEAKER 04 :
Where he’s hunting the invisible.
SPEAKER 06 :
By the way, next week, Predator Badlands is coming out.
SPEAKER 21 :
I wish I could make the sound that thing makes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 21 :
To me, it’s a steak and lobster thing. I’ll do either.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 21 :
Good one. Well done, sir. Joe, appreciate you, man. Thank you very much. Eric, you’re next. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, the one I’ve got was a made-for-TV movie back, I don’t know, 70s, late 70s. Okay. And I was a kid. I stayed up late, watched this thing, had nightmares. It was called Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.
SPEAKER 21 :
Oh, yeah, I remember that one.
SPEAKER 11 :
Oh, really? I never saw it.
SPEAKER 21 :
I remember that one.
SPEAKER 11 :
Was it real good? Young couple, they buy a house, an old house, and they find a bricked up chimney. They break it open, and then these little creatures, kind of like demonic creatures.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, I remember that. That thing scared the living daylights out of me, Eric, as a kid. That’s good. I couldn’t remember the name of that movie until you just said it. I was trying to think of that one because, yeah, that one I did not like as a kid at all.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, thanks for AI search. I was able to say demonic creature sealed in chimney. It pulled it up, and it’s like, yep, that’s the one.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, and didn’t they – and maybe I’m thinking of a different movie. Did they not come, like, out of the medicine cabinet too? Am I thinking of the right film or no?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, once they were released from the chimney, they were able to get into any dark place. That’s what I thought.
SPEAKER 21 :
That’s right. That’s exactly right. Now you’re right. And they did come out of the medicine cabinet.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah. Freaky. Like she’s in the shower. Yep. Use a coat hanger to turn the light off. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER 21 :
Oh, yeah. Freaky out. Yep. Good one, Eric. Thank you. Good trip down memory lane.
SPEAKER 11 :
That was good. A good, bad trip.
SPEAKER 21 :
That’s right. No, that’s all right. Thanks, Eric. Appreciate you, man. Let’s do this. Golden Eagle Financial coming up next. Al did a great interview of late. Listen in. We’ll be right back. You can always find Al at klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 03 :
This is TJ with KLZ Radio, and once again, we have Al Smith with us from Golden Eagle Financial. And Al, we’re coming up on the end of the year, and I figure there’s probably quite a few things that a retirement planner has to do to prepare for the new year, yes?
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, there are a couple of things that have a 31st deadline that we talk to some of our clients about. If people are thinking about converting part of their traditional IRA to Roth, That needs to be done before December 31st. And we don’t usually wait till the last week in December because the financial companies get really busy. So it’s a good idea to address that in November. And usually by then people have a pretty good idea how much money they have earned, and we can guesstimate their tax bracket.
SPEAKER 03 :
So you’re just basically helping them reach out to figure out what sort of distribution they should get from an investment.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, not so much distribution, but if they’re younger people, they may have a longer-term strategy to convert traditional IRA to Roth. And that will add income to their income tax they pay each year. And we usually wait till near the end of the year because by then people know what tax bracket they will be in. But it has to be done before December 31st.
SPEAKER 03 :
Excellent. And that’s why we trust you, Al. How can people get in touch with you if they want to start their retirement planning adventure with you?
SPEAKER 18 :
That’s a good way to describe it as an adventure. You can reach me at 303-744-1128. And if you’re driving when you hear this, contact KLZ and they’ll put me in contact with you. All right. Thanks for joining us today, Al. Thank you for having me.
SPEAKER 19 :
Live and local, back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 21 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, rolling through your favorite scary movies. And Andy stepped out for a moment, so he’ll be back here in a second. We’ll get the next clip that he – well, do you have any more clips, Andy? What do you got going on?
SPEAKER 06 :
I have a clip right here.
SPEAKER 21 :
All right, well, play your next clip.
SPEAKER 06 :
Very scary movie, and it’s called Pearl. Pearl.
SPEAKER 14 :
I know what I’ve done. Bad things. Terrible, awful, murderous things.
SPEAKER 01 :
I want to be loved from as many people as possible. But truth is, I’m not really a good person.
SPEAKER 06 :
She was not a good person, John. She liked working with an axe.
SPEAKER 21 :
It doesn’t sound like it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, she was terrible. Okay, let’s go. We got a lot of them.
SPEAKER 21 :
My next one, and it wasn’t a movie, but it was… Sorry, it was a movie, but it wasn’t in the theater’s bird box. Oh. Good movie. I didn’t see it. Scary, but good.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, let’s go classic, Psycho.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, somebody actually had mentioned that just now. I just got a text on that. Plus, pretty much any Alfred Hitchcock movie.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, a lot of them were.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, I would agree with that. Okay, go ahead. Black Swan. Black Swan. All right. How about The Ring? Oh, good one, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
Let’s see here. Dawn of the Dead? Dawn of the Dead. It’s an old movie. Those are scary. I’m going to go with Open Water. That’s more sharks.
SPEAKER 21 :
All right.
SPEAKER 06 :
I hate sharks.
SPEAKER 21 :
We haven’t said A Quiet Place yet, so I’m going to say A Quiet Place.
SPEAKER 06 :
Gosh, that was a good movie, wasn’t it? Oh, excellent. I mean, it was wonderful.
SPEAKER 21 :
All of them were good movies.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, let’s go funny. Shaun of the Dead. Oh, jeez, Shaun of the Dead. That’s so stupid. World War Z. Ooh, yeah, that was a good one. Megan. Megan.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Agree. How about… Friday the 13th. Did we say that one already?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, we did not. That’s a good one. Okay, let’s go with a little Mike Myers. So I Married an Axe Murderer.
SPEAKER 21 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
That works. All right, you’re up.
SPEAKER 21 :
The Others.
SPEAKER 06 :
The Others. How about Hereditary? Did you ever see that?
SPEAKER 21 :
No, but that’s a good one. Spooky. Good. How about, well, it wasn’t really all that scary, but Beetlejuice. Halloween, we’ve got to mention it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, you’ve got to throw it in.

SPEAKER 06 :
I did not.
SPEAKER 21 :
Okay, there we go.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, how about The Hills Have Eyes?
SPEAKER 21 :
The Mummy.
SPEAKER 06 :
The Mummy, okay. Let’s see, I already said The Shining. Let’s go with The Nun.
SPEAKER 21 :
The Nun? I don’t think I ever saw that. Creepy. Yeah, I never saw that one. Evil Nuns. Jacob’s Ladder. Now, that was an old, scary movie as well.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, it was. Back in the day. 28 Days Later.
SPEAKER 21 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Terrifying.
SPEAKER 21 :

SPEAKER 21 :
It’s getting old. Wrong Turn. Okay. I’ll throw one more in here, and then we’ll take a break. The Haunted Mansion. There was two of those.

SPEAKER 21 :
Ooh. You reviewed that a while back, Glass House. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Good job, Kelly.
SPEAKER 14 :
I mean, it’s not super scary, but it’s pretty good.
SPEAKER 21 :
No, it’s scary. I think it’s pretty scary. It’s right up there.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right.
SPEAKER 21 :
That’s a good one. Good job, Kelly. Yep. Thank you very much, Kelly. Have a great evening and a good Halloween tonight as well. All right, Andy, take it away.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I’m going to go with the little vampire girl ballerina, Abigail.
SPEAKER 21 :
Okay. I don’t have a ton left, so how about Paranormal?
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. How about my best movie of the year this year, Weapons? Good one. Goosebumps. Okay, Alien Romulus.
SPEAKER 21 :
Very good. Yeah, that’s a good one. All right, Casper. It’s not super scary, but… Saw. 28 Days Later. Did you do that one already?
SPEAKER 06 :
I did 28 Days Later. You can do 28 Weeks Later.
SPEAKER 21 :
Okay, we’ll do that. That works.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, Paranormal Activity. Go.
SPEAKER 21 :
Night of Living Dead. Underworld. The Wolfman.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, that’s a good one. Let’s do The Howling. Let’s stay with the werewolves.
SPEAKER 21 :
All right, I’ve got to go back to Frankenstein.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I’m going to go wrong turn. Wait, did I already do that? I did. Black phone.
SPEAKER 21 :
And Dracula. And I’m done. You’re going to have to finish it up here for us.
SPEAKER 06 :
