You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 10 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 14 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 05 :
Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 15 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 09 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, we are back. Hour number two. We’ll get NFL picks going here in just a few minutes along with favorite Christmas movies.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, you know, and John, Christmas movies, you kind of add a lot of movies to it. And here’s what I mean. For every category that we do, everybody puts out movies that they love, just great movies, right? But with Christmas movies, you also… Look, beyond just having a quality movie, you also like movies that take you back, that make you feel like you’re still a kid again, unwrapping presents on Christmas morning with the parents, you’re back in your childhood. Movies that take you back are also really good Christmas movies. Yeah. Would you agree to that? Yeah, I can argue that. They just kind of give you that feeling like you’re home again.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, I can’t argue that at all. I kind of thought so, too. I think you’re right. And again… We’re not going to put any stipulations on what you consider a Christmas movie. Maybe it’s something growing up, like Andy just said, where you watched it every Christmas because it’s what you did as a family. Knock your socks off. We don’t care.
SPEAKER 07 :
Or there are movies that are totally not like that, which I also love.
SPEAKER 08 :
Whatever. We don’t care. It’s sort of a loosey-goosey. So whatever you like for the Christmas end of things and whatever you’ve done over the years, let us know.
SPEAKER 07 :
You know, there are no other holidays that really have their big set of movies. There’s no President’s Day movies, Easter movies. A little bit Fourth of July, but not much. It’s just not the same.
SPEAKER 08 :
Right. I agree. All right. We’ll come back here in just one moment. Don’t forget, Paul Luebiger, my agent, would love to help you. He’s now a broker. SPEAKER 08 :
All right, we are back. Hour number two, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy, Charlie, and Richard Rush joining us now, and you guys are going to do NFL picks.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yep, Richard, you ready? Richard. I’m here. I’m here. There you are. We just heard you. Okay, hey, Richard, before we get into this, let’s cue up the music. Last night, the Broncos, they roar out with 21 points right away, only score six the rest of the way. What did the Chargers change? How did they figure him out and shut him down the rest of the way? Because that was… That was stunning. It really was.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, it was, Andy. Two things happened. They started putting pressure on Bo Nix, and as any young rookie does, right, any young quarterback especially, they don’t handle pressure as well, right? I mean, they can handle it at times, but not great. And then the second thing they did, Andy, is they – We didn’t run the ball. Obviously, outside of the questionable officiating and some questionable coaching decisions by Sean Payton, the biggest one was you stopped running the ball when you needed to and outside of you even not punting when you should or punting when you shouldn’t have punted and all the other things. You run the ball, right? You actually were doing really well through that. There’s no reason that Bo should have ended up with 40 pass attempts. That’s just crazy, especially when on Sean Payton’s play sheet, it says run it, right? Run the ball. Right. And so that was the biggest thing, Andy. And again, one of the best things to relieve pressure off of your quarterback, right, to get the defense to back off, is to run. Because then you can run play action, have the defense think for a second, and then you can kind of get rid of the ball. So it’s unfortunate, Andy, but even with that being said, they still have multiple passes to the playoffs, and all they have to do is win one remaining game. But those are going to be two tough games against the Bengals and the Chiefs. So we’ll see how it shakes out, Andy. I’ve got to say, I’m actually rooting for the Chiefs this weekend, which you will not hear me say very often.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, you know, honestly, I think, first of all, the Broncos are going to the playoffs. They’re in. They’re going in. And I actually think they’re a real threat in the AFC. However… Your best, I’m sorry, your worst play last night, in my opinion, was a play where you guys played great. I thought your defense played Justin Herbert beautifully on the play that the Chargers used to go ahead. You blew in there. You flushed a right-handed quarterback out to his left, making it, you know, so he’s running to his left with guys just about to tackle him. And, you know, that means he has no leverage for his throw because he’s moving to his left while throwing with his right. And he makes a beautiful throw. One of the best. I’d say it’s one of the five best plays in the NFL this year. The play he made under that much heat to throw a perfect pass in the end zone to go ahead. What do you think? I mean, what can you do?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, Walt and I were actually talking about that today. It was funny. I think maybe five or six guys in the league can make that throw, Andy. Yeah. And he was one of them, right? Him, Mahomes, Allen, Burrow maybe. Love. Love could do it. Lamar. Love probably could. Maybe six guys, right, that can make that throw doing what he’s doing. And so, again, that’s part of the reason why the Broncos needed to run the ball. You played against a guy in Herbert who was getting hot, and he did get hot to finish that game. Right. Didn’t have a great, great stat line, but he was getting hot at the right time. And so, again, all the more reason why the Broncos – should have gone for it, run the ball more, take the ball out of his hands. Agreed. And unfortunately, they didn’t do that. So, again, fingers crossed. Hopefully it doesn’t matter. Hopefully all that matters is for seeding. And you get the seventh seed versus the sixth seed. And, again, we’ve talked about this for the Broncos. As long as they make the playoffs, and even if they don’t, but really, Andy, at this point, if they make the playoffs, it really doesn’t matter what happens in the playoffs. You’ve made it, which means you’re ahead of schedule on your rebuild.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, and look, on that play, all you can do is tip your hat. I mean, that’s all you can do. There were times when Elway did that so many times where all the defense could do is just tip their hat and just say, look, you’re more a man than we are. That’s all we can do. We can’t stop you. I mean, we played perfect defense, and you wrecked us anyway. What are you going to do?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, Touche. Sometimes, Andy, in the NFL, the other team just makes another play and you just sort of have to tip your cap. Now, again, there was a few times last night where there was other circumstances that were involved. But, again, at the end of the day, the Broncos let themselves down. coaching, whatever it is. And then, yeah, the Chargers, especially Herbert, just made a few more plays than needed. And honestly, Andy’s plays, I don’t know if you can stop.
SPEAKER 07 :
No, you can’t stop that. When he was doing what he was doing. No, no, you can’t stop that play. Okay, we’ve got 15 games. We’ve got to go through them fast. I’m only going to ask a question on one player, and that’s in this game coming up. We start off with the Texans are at the Chiefs. Chiefs only favored by two and a half, which shocks me. I want to talk about C.J. Stroud and just get your opinion. He’s in year two. Year one, he was on fire. Year two, you know, it just seems to me he’s experiencing what a lot of young quarterbacks do when the entire league has an entire offseason to watch tape.
SPEAKER 10 :
Again, it’s one of the single biggest, not mysteries, but biggest things, Andy, is how players in general do, especially quarterbacks from year one to year two. It’ll actually be curious what the Broncos and Bo Nicks do next year because, like you say, teams get a full season of tape of how to play that player and kind of what they do to combat it. So, yeah, Andy, I think hopefully this is a more competitive game. Maybe the juices get flowing for the Texans a little bit more because they can come out and have a chance to upset the Chiefs. I just don’t see it. It’s the Chiefs’ last home game of the year until the playoffs, obviously. I doubt they’re going to give it up, Andy, so I’m going to go with Casey at home.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, I’m going to take the Chiefs as well. Okay, let’s blow through these. We’ve got the Steelers are at the Ravens. Ravens favored by 6.5.
SPEAKER 10 :
Um, yeah, Andy, I, this is interesting to me too, cause I don’t love that spread. I feel like the Steelers always play the Ravens tough, right? Like that’s just, that’s just who the Steelers are. Um, and, and that’s just how these games tend to go. Um, maybe I could be wrong. Um, and I hope, I hope, actually, I hope I am, I am wrong in this cause I’m going to take the Steelers actually to win, um, mainly cause of Russ. But my thing is, is if the Steelers, well, if the Ravens win, like I said, I hope I’m wrong. Then that means the, The Bengals-Steelers game, the last game of the year, means a lot. Steelers may have to win that game, which I’m all for because that sort of helps the Broncos in a roundabout way. But I’m going to take the Steelers here on the road, Andy, irregardless of the spread.
SPEAKER 07 :
I think it’s a good game, actually, but I’ll take the Ravens at home just barely. Next game, the Giants, all they care about is the top pick. They’re on the road at the Falcons. Falcons finally starting their rookie quarterback should be fun. Falcons favored by nine.
SPEAKER 10 :
Andy, I think that Penix will do well here. I think he’ll go. I don’t know if he’s going to go off. It’s at home. The Giants are terrible. They are not playing anyone. They’re playing for that number one pick for a chance to draft Shador. Yeah, obviously I’m going to go with the Falcons here, Andy, and Pennix is going to have to get up to speed real quick if they want to sneak into the playoffs.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, I’ll take the Falcons. This is the perfect game for a rookie to start against the Giants. Next game, the Lions only favored by 6.5 at the Bears. The Lions are missing so many players on defense. What do you think?
SPEAKER 10 :
They are, Andy, but you talk about a perfect recipe for a rookie. This is the perfect recipe for the Lions because the Bears are just not good. Caleb Williams really needs a makeover. All sorts of things are happening. I won’t say too much. I think the Lions will win this. They need to, especially after last week against the Bills.
SPEAKER 07 :
I agree. I’ll take the Lions as well. Okay, here we go. The Browns are on the road at the Bengals. Bengals favored by nine because the Browns are horrible.
SPEAKER 10 :
Browns are horrible. Bengals’ defense is horrible. Browns are starting. I think they’re D-T-R-I, Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Could be interesting, but the Bengals need a win, obviously, here. Even though this is a divisional game, Andy, I’m going to take the Bengals. I agree. Titans are at the Colts’ Colts by three and a half. Again, Andy, Colts need a win, right? This is a divisional game. Should be interesting. I’m going to take Andy here, Andy, just because I think that they’ll get back on it. And Anthony Richardson at home maybe is a little different than Anthony Richardson on the road.
SPEAKER 07 :
I agree. I’ll take the Colts as well. Rams are favored only by three at the Jets.
SPEAKER 10 :
Traveling to the East Coast, Andy, it’s hard. True. I don’t think the Jets are that great of a team, although they seem to have their spurts.
SPEAKER 07 :
But I’ll go Rams here. I’ll take the Rams. Okay, the Eagles only favored by 3.5 at the Commanders. That’s an interesting line, Andy, isn’t it?
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s intriguing, especially with how the Eagles have looked over the past few weeks. I think it’s low. Yeah, I do think it’s low, Andy. I don’t think that, again, I think Jaden Daniels may get a little bit of a coming welcome to the NFL moment here against Philly. The last time they played Philly, they did not play that well. Yeah, I’ll go with the Eagles here on the road, Andy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, the Cardinals are favored by five at the Panthers, but with either of these teams, who shows up?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, exactly. Again, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Or whatever it might be, Andy. It’s an interesting – although, again, I like the Panthers, Andy. I like Bryce Young. They’re almost playing – the way Bryce Young’s playing, he’s almost playing it to where the Panthers can draft the best available player versus having to – and I don’t think they actually give – they don’t have to give the Bears another first-round pick, which is great for them. I will go with the Cardinals here, Andy, just because I think that the Panthers are a little bit devoid of talent right now. But, again, which team shows up? To me, it’s almost a coin flip. Yep.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, the Vikings are only favored by three at the Seahawks. Seahawks missing their quarterback. Doesn’t three seem a little low?
SPEAKER 10 :
It does, Andy, but, again, the Vikings are just kind of that – they’re that team that’s played to the strength of their schedule really, really well.
SPEAKER 01 :
True. They keep it close.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I’m going to go with the Vikings here, Andy. I think they probably cover two. Lots of things happen, but ultimately, to me, it’s a – I don’t know. I just don’t know how. I just don’t think the Vikings are going to do much in the playoffs, Andy. But the Seahawks here with their backups and such, yeah, not great.
SPEAKER 07 :
No, I agree. Vikings should win by 17. I’ll take them by 7. Next game, Patriots are against the Bills. Bills favored by 14. Are the Patriots also angling for the top pick?
SPEAKER 10 :
They are Andy, but I think they would settle for number three, which is where they’re at now, because they are the type to go get a Travis Hunter, which is a great boom for Drake May and even their defense. I mean, could you imagine Travis Hunter playing receiver, but then also being opposite of Christian Gonzalez? On the defensive side, that’s actually really tantalizing if you’re New England, even though they do need offensive line, Andy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Hey, you just put them wherever you want them. The guy’s just a football player.
SPEAKER 10 :
Exactly. Wherever you need an injection of talent, Andy. So, obviously, I’m going to go with the Bills here, Andy. Maybe not cover the spread. I mean, I think they do, but that spread’s awfully big for an NFL game, even though the Patriots are terrible. But I’ll go Bills.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, I’ll take the Bills by how much. Depends on how much they care. Next game, the Jags are on the road at the Raiders. Raiders only favored by one and a half. Yuck.
SPEAKER 10 :
This game. Yuck. Again, Raiders, they are going for that number one pick. I mean, they’re going to fight just because that’s what NFL players do. I think the Jags will get in here, Andy. Can two teams forfeit? Mutually. Or can two teams tie without having to play the game, Andy? Maybe that should be best for all sides. I think so, too. Who are you taking? I just think Mac Jones is better than anything that the Raiders are going to put out there, even with Brock Bowers. Maybe this will be an entertaining game, Andy. We’ll see. But I’ll go with the Jags on the road.
SPEAKER 07 :
You’ll take the Jags. Tell you what, I’ll take the Raiders. Why not? Because we’re agreeing on all these. Okay, we’ve got three left. The 49ers are at the Dolphins. Dolphins favored by one. Neither of these teams is very good.
SPEAKER 10 :
They’re not, Andy. I’m rooting for the 49ers here because I think they need… Well, they’re still sort of in the NFC playoff hunt, not officially eliminated. Similar to the Dolphins. The Dolphins are still technically in the playoff hunt, but a lot needs to go right for them to make it, similar to the Bengals. I’m going to go with the Niners here, Andy, maybe just because I want them to win. But like you said, I think the Dolphins, I just don’t think they’re very good. And I think the Niners, hopefully getting some of their other guys back, maybe they take advantage of… Nice warm weather down there in Miami.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, why not? I’ll take the Niners, too. I don’t like either team. Next game, the Buccaneers. Boy, they lit it up last week. They are favored by four going at the Cowboys.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, Andy, interesting game here. Obviously, the Buccaneers, I know where my son’s going to go because Baker Mayfield’s his quarterback. He’s actually in the San Jose football playoff, Andy, which is hard to believe. My money’s on your son. He sold out last week. I know. Beat old dad last week to get there. The Cowboys are not good, Andy, but they’re not terrible either. They’re kind of that lower mid-level team. The Buccaneers should come in here. They’re in the driver’s seat for their division, so they should handily take care of the Cowboys.
SPEAKER 07 :
I agree. And last game, the Saints are on the road at my Packers. Packers favored by two touchdowns, 14 and a half.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, Andy, and they should. I mean, again, I know that’s a big number in the NFL these days, but the Saints just aren’t very good as much as I know that their interim coaches sort of giving them a jolt. No Alvin Kamara this week, Andy. I’m obviously going to go with your Packers.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, I’ll take the Packers as well. John, back to you. All right, that is it. High Five Plumbing is up next. It’s plumbing and electrical, by the way, and as I keep saying as we head down this stretch into Christmas and New Year’s, make sure that you’re all dialed in with your home. For all of your guests, give High Five Plumbing and Electrical a call today, 877-WE-HIGH-5.
SPEAKER 06 :
The holidays are the busiest season for plumbers and High Five Plumbing, Electrical, Heating and Cooling wants you to be ready now. There are several things you can do to prevent freezing, busted pipes and other plumbing issues just as guests arrive. If you have plumbing inside cabinets, leave the doors open to warm them. especially if they are on an exterior wall. Hi-5 can better insulate pipes if this is a constant issue. And if you’re going away for a vacation, don’t forget to turn the water off to prevent those really bad emergency pipe breaks. When the cold dips lower than normal, leaving your faucets dripping will keep water flowing and prevent it from freezing. Plumbing inside your home is constantly degrading. So even if you haven’t had an issue in previous years, Hi-5 can help you make sure it’s still working. Have them out for a pre-holiday inspection and receive a waived inspection fee just for being a KLZ listener. Schedule your inspection today at klzradio.com slash plumbing.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, civil, criminal, whatever you’ve got that you need some representation for or just have some legal help with, you know, conversation, whatever, give Kevin a call today, 303-806-8886.
SPEAKER 21 :
Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence. The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist’s perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know. Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and were witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth? Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. Call now for a free consultation, 303-806-8886.

American Stonehenge by Mike Goldstein is more than just a children’s book. It’s a way to connect with the children in your life and encourage them to read to you and for themselves. When Mike Goldstein started writing American Stonehenge, he went after a specific problem. Children today don’t think for themselves, and test scores nationwide show that. American Stonehenge is gorgeously put together, so it’ll draw their attention. It’s filled with action, the prose flows as smooth as sand through an hourglass, and it’s historically accurate from the stories and the illustrations. But it’s also a portal to quality time with children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. It’s a way to connect with them while tacitly teaching them the importance of critical thought and giving them a break from scrolling in their free time. Find American Stonehenge on klzradio.com slash read and bring your family together this holiday season.

Now, back to Rush to Reason, presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, we are back. Hour two, and it is your favorite Christmas songs, Andy, or not songs, favorite Christmas movies. Some of these might be songs, but take it away.
SPEAKER 07 :
Some are. Okay, I’m going to start with an old classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Of course, we have to, as every year, listen to it as explained by Frasier Crane. Here we go.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know, Rudolph is my favorite guy in the Christmas songs.
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, yeah. You know, apparently then, Woody, you’re unaware that the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is one of the most unrealistic and therefore potentially damaging in all of children’s music. It gives them a horribly distorted view of reality.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, but you gotta admit, it’s easy to whistle.
SPEAKER 04 :
No. Look, I’m serious. You know, first the other reindeer tease and then ostracize him, and then when his abnormality proves of service, they use him. But then, do they allow him to play in their stupid reindeer games? Yes. Oh, no, no, no, no. I know how the song goes. In fact, not only do Donner, Blitzen, et al. not love him and laugh out with glee, but they doubly despise the bulbous-nosed little wimp. Well, I gotta be off. Happy holidays.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s pretty good. Sorry, I always laugh. No, that’s pretty good. Gotta play it every year. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, very good, Andy. Oh, Frazier there. Good Republican, Kelsey Grammer. Yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right. I’m going to go with, well, for my kids, this is their time of year. They love it. I’m going to go with The Grinch Stole Christmas, but I’m going to go with the Benedict Cumberbatch animated version.
SPEAKER 07 :
Ooh. Yeah, he did a good job, didn’t he? Very good job.
SPEAKER 08 :
Mr. Cumberbund?
SPEAKER 07 :
I agree. I agree. I love him. Good actor.
SPEAKER 08 :
John, you’re up. Oh, wow. Well, I won’t steal it from Richard. I’ll leave that for later. Let’s see here. I don’t know if you have a clip from it or not, but Bad Santa.
SPEAKER 07 :
Bad Santa. So bad. Okay, this is from the trailer. Hopefully it’s semi-clean enough.
SPEAKER 08 :
Keep the dumb button handy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, keep the dumb button handy, Charlie.
SPEAKER 14 :
This holiday season, the naughtiest guy in town just might discover.
SPEAKER 11 :
He’s a really sweet kid, isn’t he?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, I guess so. How to be nice.
SPEAKER 11 :
Good night, Santa. Good night, Mrs. Santa’s sister.
SPEAKER 12 :
Billy Bob Thornton. So do you like kids? What do you think, I’m some kind of curber or something?
SPEAKER 20 :
It’s me because you’re Santa Claus.
SPEAKER 12 :
Huh.
SPEAKER 1 :
Bernie Mac.
SPEAKER 14 :
Get him out of here.
SPEAKER 20 :
What do you mean, get him out of here? I’m a dwarf. So unless you got a forklift handy, maybe you should lend a hand, huh?
SPEAKER 14 :
Got some lip on you, miss it?
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah? Well, these lips were on your wife last night.
SPEAKER 05 :
Tony Cox. Bad Santa. I beat up some kids today, but it was for a purpose. Made me feel good about myself.
SPEAKER 20 :
You need many years of therapy.
SPEAKER 07 :
I beat up some kids last night, but it was for a good purpose. I feel good about myself.
SPEAKER 08 :
So bad. So Billy Bob, so bad. Yes. All right, John and Cheyenne, you’re up.
SPEAKER 09 :
Go ahead. Can I ask a quick NFL question first? Sure. Why does everybody think Shador Sanders is going to be the next Tom Brady? Well, he’s really good. How about that? I think he’s going to be the next RG3. A couple of good seasons and a flash in the pan. I just don’t see it. He’s playing in a system design.
SPEAKER 07 :
You’re right, he’s playing in a system design form, I agree, but he is just a better quarterback at reading the field than RG3. What do you think, Richard?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I mean, John, I will say this. He’s going to… If he’s your guy, which he may very well be, or the Raiders guy, he’s going to frustrate you with some of the sacks he takes because sometimes he should just get rid of the ball. But he’s one of the toughest guys you’ll ever see out there. As much as you don’t think so, he does play for his team. And, yeah, I mean, he just sees the field so well. Ball placement is just next level. I can see where your hesitations are, and I’m not saying he’s a bona fide Tom Brady, but I think that he definitely has a much higher ceiling than RG.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, I think he does too. You know what, also, John, he’s a lunch pail guy. I think he’s got Giant written all over him.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. You know, I’ve watched a couple of Colorado games this year where he played well. And then I watched that one where they lost to Kansas.
SPEAKER 08 :
That was when they came off of a really big win the week before, and they were all just, in my opinion, too much celebration, John.
SPEAKER 07 :
That happens. Not that college kids ever over-celebrate. Not that college kids ever do that. No, no, no, no, no. Heck no. John, you got any movies?
SPEAKER 09 :
I got two. Real quick, I got two, but first. I can’t believe, Andy, that you’re choosing Benjamin Cumberbatch over Boris Karloff. Well. And the original Grinch. Richard chose him. That’s right.
SPEAKER 07 :
His kids did.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, Richard chose, yeah. Okay. The original Grinch, I saw that when I was about six.
SPEAKER 07 :
You got to go with the kids there, John. You got to go with the kids. We got to live in the now.
SPEAKER 09 :
You sound like all these people that don’t want to change from Daylight Savings.
SPEAKER 08 :
Actually, I like the one with Jim Carrey the best.
SPEAKER 07 :
I like the original cartoon the best. I really do. But go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. All right. My favorite Christmas movie, or one of my favorites because it’s got one of my favorite actresses in it, is the original Miracle on 34th Street with Maureen O’Hara. Classic. I mean, great movie. And then the other one I get in debate, because it’s always played at Christmas, but you’re not sure if it’s a Christmas movie, and that’s Bing Crosby in Going My Way, which he won an Academy Award for. Oh, I hadn’t thought of that. Okay, yeah, sure. Is that a Christmas scene when he makes the kids sing in the choir? Yeah. But is it a Christmas movie or not? It’s good enough. What do you think, John?
SPEAKER 08 :
I’ve never seen it. I haven’t seen Miracle on 34th Street either.
SPEAKER 07 :
I mean, you know, we’re never going to let you call in again, but, you know, this one last time, I hope you enjoyed it. No, no, it’s good. I like it. I think it works. Heck yeah. That’s a good Christmas scene.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’ve had people. And just remember, last thing. Yeah. To the people who say Die Hard’s a Christmas movie, if Die Hard’s a Christmas movie, then so is Lethal Weapon.
SPEAKER 07 :
Fair enough. Yeah, fair enough. Yeah, that works. And speaking of Die Hard, that brings up my next.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, John, appreciate you. Go ahead, Andy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Take care. Okay, speaking of Die Hard, here we go.
SPEAKER 08 :
I just love that line. Welcome to the party, pal. That was a great line. The first one’s the best.
SPEAKER 07 :
Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Heck yeah, it’s a Christmas movie.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s a Christmas party.
SPEAKER 07 :
It’s totally a Christmas movie. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yes, Andy. All right, I’m going to go with one. We watch every Christmas Eve, sort of our tradition, which is The Star. I think it’s actually on Netflix this year, so for folks who haven’t seen it, it’s a really good movie.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yep, somebody texted in on that one as well.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, John, you’re up.
SPEAKER 08 :
Good job on that one, Richard. How about Santa Claus? The one with Tim Allen.
SPEAKER 07 :
The Santa Claus. Good one, good one. Okay, just to anger the both of you, I have to do it every year. Here we go.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, jeez, them stupid Muppets. So cute. Nothing about the Muppets are cute. Annoying, maybe, but not cute.
SPEAKER 07 :
You know, I picture you carrying Richard on your shoulder.
SPEAKER 08 :
No. And singing this together. I don’t think I even ever let my kids watch the Muppets. Did I, Richard?
SPEAKER 10 :
No, because it was… I can’t take it. My kids are listening, and they’ll get mad at me and tell me I said a bad word. It’s terrible.
SPEAKER 07 :
You see, you never let Richard watch Muppets. This explains Richard’s wide array of problems.
SPEAKER 08 :
I don’t like puppets, period. Richard, you’re up. Other than maybe Team America. That’s about it. They’re marionettes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, not good. And they don’t sing quite that well. One that we’re going to watch tonight, and actually we went out to the Gaylord to see their little version, Dad, which was really fun, is the Polar Express.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yes. Yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s great.
SPEAKER 10 :
By the way, one of the first movies, but it’s like one of the most expensive animated movies ever. Because it was like the first time that they essentially did, well, not CGI, but basically they did all the motion-tronic and all the other stuff.
SPEAKER 08 :
What do they call that, Charlie?
SPEAKER 10 :
You know what?
SPEAKER 08 :
Motion capture.
SPEAKER 07 :
By the way, Hanks was phenomenal in it. Good movie. It was creepy looking, but he was phenomenal.
SPEAKER 08 :
Go ahead, John. Good movie. How about Four Christmases? Funny movie, by the way.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, yeah. Okay. Here’s a movie I’m sure I was not able to get anybody to watch last year, but I’m going to recommend it again. And this is from the trailer of The Holdovers. Here we go.
SPEAKER 16 :
Sir, I don’t understand. That’s glaringly apparent. I can’t fail this class. Oh, don’t sell yourself short, Mr. Coates. I truly believe that you can.
SPEAKER 14 :
Every year at Barton Academy, students, faculty, and staff depart the campus for a two-week winter break. But there are always an unfortunate few who have nowhere to go for the holidays. They’re known as the Holdovers.
SPEAKER 20 :
Mr. Hunnam. Hello, Mary. I heard you got stuck with babysitting duty this year. How’d you manage that?
SPEAKER 09 :
You know, he used to be a student, right? Yeah, that’s why he knows how to inflict maximum pain on me. I thought all the Nazis were hiding in Argentina. Stifle it, Tully.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, I could go on, but guys, I’m telling you now, it’s not for kids. It’s an adult Christmas movie, but it is definitely worth seeing. It’s a four-star movie, The Holdovers. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 10 :
We’ll take your advice on it, Andy. Okay. Probably not, but we’ll take it for you. All right, I’m going to go with one that maybe this is the one you’re holding out for me, Dad, because obviously it’s one of my favorites. Many memories. One of the best, which is Christmas Vacation.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yep, good one. Classic. Actually, I watched the whole thing the other night.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, it’s that time of year. You got to.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s just, yeah. And you forget how much stuff is actually in that movie.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
You know, because you just forget in between watching it. But, yeah, great, great. That one works, Richard. How about, because I watched it as a kid, Frosty the Snowman.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, okay. Yes, and by the way, here we go.
SPEAKER 01 :
Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy soul. Now listen to this voice. With a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal.
SPEAKER 08 :
Harry Como, Charlie said.
SPEAKER 07 :
Now, does this take you back to being a kid? Yeah, it does me. Classic. Okay, here we go. All right, here’s one that definitely takes you back, and it’s Bing Crosby and Holiday Inn singing White Christmas.
SPEAKER 01 :
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas Just like the ones I used to know Where the treetops glisten and children listen to hear sleigh bells in the snow.
SPEAKER 07 :
And it could go on. I love his voice. Best baritone I’ve ever heard in my life. Gorgeous voice. Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, Andy, I’m going to go with Oh, one. I can’t think of it. The Christmas Chronicles. Yeah. Which has got Kurt Russell in it. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 07 :
I like him.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, that one’s good.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, John, you’re up.
SPEAKER 08 :
Little Drummer Boy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes. Definitely a classic. Okay, a movie that only I watch, but I don’t care. I like the music from it. Here we go. Anna and the Apocalypse, Hollywood ending.
SPEAKER 11 :
This is me.
SPEAKER 07 :
And it goes on. That was a zombie Christmas movie, and it just had great music. All right, Richard, you’re up. It was made in Scotland.
SPEAKER 10 :
In honor of my children, they love this one. And, again, I think it’s actually underrated. Home Alone.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
It is underrated. You’re right. Yeah. Great movie, by the way. Go ahead, John. How about Scrooged?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes. That was a lot of fun. Okay. This is from a movie that I think is better than the critics thought, and that is Red One. Here we go. Preview.
SPEAKER 05 :
What am I doing here?
SPEAKER 13 :
Last night, Red One, also known as St.
SPEAKER 05 :
Nicholas of Myra, was abducted from the North Pole complex. Are you saying Santa Claus has been kidnapped? Garcia? You can’t trust this guy. He’s on the list.
SPEAKER 12 :
You don’t mean… Yes, that list.
SPEAKER 05 :
NL4. Are you telling me this clown is a level four naughty lister? A level four naughty lister? Oh, is that funny to you?
SPEAKER 07 :
Red one was not bad. I gave it three and a half stars. It’s worth seeing Richard. You’re up.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, Andy, I actually watched it last weekend, so for those of you that didn’t want to go see it in theaters, it is now out on Prime, so you can watch it for free. It wasn’t too bad. I mean, some Christians are probably going to be all upset about how they portrayed Santa and some of the other stuff, but it was just a fun movie, right, Andy? Yeah, that’s what I mean, just a fun movie. Just a fun movie, there you go. All right, I’m going to go with, I can’t believe we haven’t said it yet, Elf.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Great. Here, really quick.
SPEAKER 15 :
The neighbors might think, say, what’s in this drink?
SPEAKER 07 :
She’s in the shower. She doesn’t know he’s out.
SPEAKER 11 :
I wish I knew how to break the spell.
SPEAKER 07 :
I would keep going because it’s really good, but we’re running out of time. Go ahead, John. Angry little elf. You’re an angry elf. I’ve played that part too many times.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, got to say Christmas Story.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, yeah. Well, that’s definitely a classic. Okay, how about this? I’m going to go with White Christmas. Okay. Yeah. Another big one. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 10 :
This is one we actually watched a few weeks ago. It’s called Arthur Christmas, and it’s kind of like a newer age thing. It’s a fun movie. Yeah, it’s charming.
SPEAKER 08 :
Arthur Christmas. Okay. How about Office Christmas Party?
SPEAKER 07 :
I did not see that one.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s pretty funny, actually.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, I’m going to go with Daddy’s Home 2. Oh, good one, Andy. It’s a Christmas movie.
SPEAKER 08 :
Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 10 :
Did we say A Christmas Story?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes, I did.
SPEAKER 10 :
You did? Okay, there. All right, I’m going to go with, oh, we have to say it, Charlie Brown Christmas.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah. Yes. That one counts.
SPEAKER 07 :
You bet. Go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 08 :
I’m going to say it just because I hate this movie, and I know a lot of people are not going to like me for saying that, but it’s a wonderful life. It’s a miserable life. It is a miserable life. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, my gosh.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s awful. It’s depressing.
SPEAKER 07 :
I know. I know. Okay. I am going to go with While You Were Sleeping was actually a Christmas movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, that’s a good one.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yep. Richard, go.
SPEAKER 10 :
Let’s see here. Jingle All the Way, Old Arnold.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yep. That was a fun movie. Hang on. I don’t have that on here. Jingle All the Way?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah. Go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right. I said the drummer boy already, didn’t I? Yes. How about… This is Charlie’s favorite, The Christmas Shoes. Oh, okay. Makes him cry.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, I’m going to go for one people don’t think of, Die Hard 2. Okay. That’s a Christmas movie. Definitely. Richard, go.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right here, Andy. You did four Christmases, right, Dad? That’s what you did? Yeah. Love Actually.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, that’s on my list. That one’s good. A listener mentioned The Bishop’s Wife. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that one.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, well, I’ll do a similar one. The Preacher’s Wife.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay, that one counts.
SPEAKER 07 :
Richard, go.
SPEAKER 10 :
Christmas with the Cranks.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, that one’s a good one.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
The Family Man.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes. Isn’t that Nicolas Cage? Yeah. Here’s one you haven’t heard of, Black Adder Christmas.
SPEAKER 08 :
Black Adder Christmas?
SPEAKER 07 :
I’ve got a clip. We don’t have time. Bottom line, they do a reverse of it where he actually learns being bad is the way to go instead of good. Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 10 :
We did… Oh, let’s see here. Andy. Oh, you think it’s just The Family Man. Oh, did we do the Silent Night one, right? Is that the other Christmas movie thingy?
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s a horror movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Silent Night? Well, Violent Night was the horror movie. There you go. Sorry, Violent Night. Yeah, you know, like the… Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
That was good. Go ahead. How about Jack Frost? Jack Frost. Absolutely. Isn’t that with… What’s his… Yeah, Michael Keaton. Michael Keaton.
SPEAKER 07 :
You know, and by the way, I’m going to do Silent Night. You can do Silent or Violent Night. They’re both hacker movies, but Silent Night is one where the guy loses his voice and involves revenge for his family. Richard, you’re up. Noel with Anna Kendrick. Oh, I have not seen it. Go ahead, John. Pretty good.
SPEAKER 08 :
Let’s see. We did Charlie Brown Christmas. I got a list. How about A Christmas Carol?
SPEAKER 07 :
There are many, and that’s a good one. I’m going to go Trading Places.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, that’s on my list. Yeah. Yeah, that one counts.
SPEAKER 07 :
Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd.
SPEAKER 10 :
Richard, you’re up. Oh, let’s see here. You know what, Andy? In honor of my wife, I’m just going to go with any Hallmark movie.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, fact. You know, that’s in honor of all wives. I know this is going to sound sexist, but wives love Hallmark.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes, they do. You talk about predictability. Yeah, they’re all predictable. What wasn’t was Gremlins.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes, I love Gremlins. It was so good. Okay, this is going way back, but it won awards. The Apartment. Oh, I don’t know that one. Yep, it’s very good. Richard, you’re up. All right, I’m running out here. Yeah, me too. Fred Claus. Fred Claus. Okay, go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, somebody just texted in Snow Day.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, yeah, that’s right. Okay, so there you go. I’m going to go with The Ref, and that’s got a lot of foul language, but it’s very funny, very funny. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 10 :
Spirited. It’s the Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell one on Apple TV. Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
Bad Mom’s Christmas.
SPEAKER 07 :
Bad Mom’s Christmas.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s a good movie.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, that’s true.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s funny and good.
SPEAKER 07 :
Did we do Prancer? I don’t think we did.
SPEAKER 08 :
No, we did not.
SPEAKER 07 :
Prancer it is. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 10 :
Klaus, which is another Netflix movie, kind of a different take on Christmas, but it’s fun.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, I’ll be my last one, then we’ll let you go. Get Santa. Well done. Okay. I’ll let you go with that, Richard. Have a good night. See you guys. All right. Appreciate it. Let’s do this. Live and local, back to Rush to Reason. And that is, of course, the Charlie Brown Christmas, which, by the way, several of you texted in, and yes, we mentioned that one, and also played, if you didn’t hear it, we played in the last hour the little bit from it.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, that, Muppet Christmas Carol, and Die Hard, my wife and I have to see every year, period. I got only three left. That’s it? Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Christmas in Connecticut, and Edward Scissorhands. Yeah, we blew through all of them.
SPEAKER 08 :
I’ve got A Year Without Santa somebody texted in about. Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas. Little Women. Yeah, that’s a Christmas film. Let It Snow. The Night, K-N-I-G-H-T, Before Christmas. You said Prancer already, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
You could do Nightmare Before Christmas.
SPEAKER 08 :
Could do that one, too. Christmas With You. Operation Christmas Drop and Deck of the Halls.
SPEAKER 07 :
Real quick, name two that you have to watch every year.
SPEAKER 08 :
Christmas Vacation and… I like the Santa Claus, actually, with Tim Allen. Very cool. All right, guys, don’t forget, first thing in the morning, 9 o’clock, we’ll have Fix It Radio, followed up by Drive Radio. Have a great rest of your night. This is Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 1 :
