I didn’t get a chance during the first hour because we had a lot going on. Question of the day, what are the names, this is from Friday, what are the names of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s kids? North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. That is the answer to Friday’s question of the day. Today’s question of the day. What were the last four words in President Franklin Roosevelt’s speech declaring war on Japan on December 8th, 1941? And Pearl Harbor Day, of course, was over the weekend. So answer that question on our Facebook page now. One thing I wanted to put out today, because it takes a little bit of time for Charlie to put this done. In the past, we’ve always done Christmas song requests on Christmas Day. So those of you that would like to hear your favorite Christmas song, and you guys all know, at least you should, those of you maybe that are new to our program and haven’t listened since last Christmas, or started listening since last Christmas, I should say, I don’t do Christmas songs all month long. We do them for about a week. And that’s about it. And yes, we will do Christmas songs on Christmas Day. And in the past, we’ve even added a few little things in between some songs and so on. I’m not sure exactly this year how we’re going to do that. Yeah, all music. You’re not going to hear any reruns, me talking, nobody talking. It’ll be a collection of songs. A lot of people are busy doing things and so on. You may not even be able to listen that day, which we fully understand. But there are some that can and some that want to. And we have got a – Charlie, is there really any Christmas songs we can’t get a hold of? I mean, we pretty much have everything. Yeah, so you guys name it, we have it. Old, new, in between, you know, comedy stuff, you name it. You know, you tell us what it is. And as long as it meets FCC approval – we will play that song for you. So 307-200-8222. And I’ll mention that each day, but it takes Charlie a little bit of time to get all that assembled. So I’ll do that for this week and next, but the week of Christmas, we will not be asking any longer because we’ll give Charlie a couple of days that way to get things put together. So again, for those of you that would like to have a particular Christmas song played that day, please let me All right, last hour, I kind of started talking about it, and then we had our special guest, then Joe called in from Jersey, and I didn’t get a chance to get to it, but the town of Morrison, which I’ve talked about in the past, and I’ve talked in particular about the police department in Morrison. And it’s well known, maybe if you’re a transplant it’s not, but for those of you that lived here for any length of time, you all know that you don’t speed in the town of Morrison. or even around the town of Morrison. You have to even be careful traveling 285 or 470 around the town of Morrison because if you’re going even a little bit over the speed limit, you’re liable to get stopped and ticketed. Well, that’s probably going to change. It was announced just this last week. that the Morrison Town Board is going to disband its police department. They’ve had some issues with the chiefs and so on. And frankly, somebody called in on Saturday and asked if I think this is because of, you know, Bandimere Speedway going away. Is this part of it? You know, I honestly don’t know. I don’t know all of the inner workings of the town and what went on in the meeting and so on. Maybe, although I think what it really comes down to is it’s extremely expensive to run these. They’ve been trying to do it off of the ticketing end of things, which, frankly, is a recipe for disaster and typically doesn’t work. And I think it’s finally come to a head to where they finally figured out that, budgetarily speaking, this is not cost effective. And, by the way, there’s lots of towns – In Colorado, whereby the local sheriff will handle all of those things the town needs. And this is what’s going to happen here in Morrison is Jefferson County Sheriff has agreed to backfill. Now, I don’t know if there’ll be a charge for that or how that works. I’m not privy of all of that. But even if it is, I’m sure it is much less than what it’s been taking for them to run an entire police department. So bottom line. That department is going away. Now, when is it going away? You know, I didn’t do a lot of research to determine exactly when that’s going to happen, but I think it’s going to happen here in the not-too-distant future. So you could probably go and look that up on some of the town notes and so on and figure that out exactly. But, you know, am I disappointed in seeing that go away? No. In fact, I think this is a good thing for Morrison. At the end of the day, they’ll end up with the police force through the sheriff’s department that they actually need because, frankly, the police department in Morrison itself has been more worried about writing tickets, again, on 470 and 285 and places like that than they have actually policing the town. For those of you that don’t know, the town of Morrison proper – I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this. You could walk Main Street slowly and go from one end to the other in less than five minutes. And I’m not exaggerating. If you don’t know how big the town is, look it up on a map. It’s not very big. Now, I get it. The police department, you know, they usually would handle some things with, you know, red rocks and some of the surrounding areas and so on. But again, that’ll get backfilled just fine. And at the end of the day, I believe this is actually a better use and a better role of government than what it’s been in the past. A town as small as Morrison doesn’t need a police force. And there’s several of them around. I won’t name names, but there’s several of them around that have their own that don’t need it. It’s a waste of money. And typically all they’re doing is hassling people driving through by writing tickets for very low infraction items, and they’re collecting their revenue that way, and it’s not a good look, in my opinion. So those of you that maybe are up in that area and or you’ve traveled through Morrison and you’ve had a ticket in the past, sounds like those days are numbered and you won’t have to worry about that much longer. Now, that doesn’t mean you’re going to be willy-nilly and just speed around and the Sheriff’s Department won’t write you a ticket. They will as well, but will they be doing and policing what Morrison has done in the past? I highly doubt that. Hi-Fi Plumbing is next, folks. All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. There was an article I read in the Colorado Sun late last week that I wanted to talk about today because we talk a lot about transportation. I’ve even got some comments from Governor Polis on what he feels transportation for Colorado should look like. We talk a lot about energy and politics and all sorts of things. There was an article in the Colorado Sun. talking about these charge trains. And you’re going to think to yourself, what is a charge train? Well, it’s a train, locomotive, With these rail cars that are full of rechargeable batteries, large batteries that can be then packed back into the grid. Essentially, I’ve not seen them. By the way, I think this is probably the stupidest idea I think I’ve ever seen. And yes, I will say that. The idea being. These batteries will be charged somewhere down in the Pueblo area because they feel like there’s more sunshine there. And I guess they can do whatever infrastructure they need to charge these batteries. They will then track these, you know, train these all the way to Denver, plug into our grid and help offset some of what it takes to run the grid. The track itself is being called the Transmission Line. Nice words, by the way, is all they’re using here. And it’s called Sun Train. And I guess NREL and some of the other folks out there think this is really a great deal. They’re using a $10 million federal grant. Now, folks, this is the kind of stuff that Doge, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy need to kill. This is absolutely the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Who in their right mind thinks that somehow, some way, you’re going to save doing this? I’m speechless. I really, I have no words. They’re going to basically take this charge train and charge it in Pueblo, drive it all the way to Denver’s Cherokee Power Station, where they will then plug in. It will power 20,000 homes for an hour or 1,000 homes for a full day. Now, you tell me how, economically speaking, you can take this sun train from Pueblo charge it there, drive it all the way up here, the fuel, time, energy, etc. And by the way, all of these environmentalists think that these trains, I guess, just show up free, with nothing ever used to create them in the first place. And these battery packs, and, and, and, I mean, they act like this stuff just shows up, that you don’t have to require any energy to any natural resources, you know, any rare earth metals to create these. They just act like they show up. And then once they show up, you pump energy, you know, you pump power into them. They store the power and then bring it up and stick it into the grid and it’ll power a thousand homes for a day. What an absolute moronic idea. And, you know, I did think through this. So I didn’t just, you know, off the cuff say, what a stupid idea. I thought to myself, OK, let’s think about this for a minute. We’ve got a train. And by the way, I don’t know how many of these batteries it actually takes to make this happen. It’s a train, car-sized, iron phosphate battery. So each one of these trains can power 1,000 homes for a day. I don’t know what they weigh. I don’t know how many of these they can actually pull with one particular locomotive. How many locomotives do they need? I mean, if you look at some of the coal rail cars that are out there and how many engines required to pull those along, I mean, let’s say you stacked 50 of these, and I don’t know if they’ve even got 50 of these. Let’s say they stacked 50 of them back and forth so you could actually do 5,000 homes or 50,000 homes, I should say. even then is it worth doing? I don’t know. And what I’d like to know is, you know, these articles will say, well, yeah, this is a great way to, you know, offset power and do a cleaner. Where’s the math? And none of these articles, is there ever any math done? For example, I get it. The rail is already there. But, you know, what’s it take to create and dedicate a locomotive, the fuel that it takes to make that run back and forth? You know, the battery weight will be the same whether it’s charged or empty. So you’ll have the same fuel use up versus down, maybe a little bit less down because of the elevation. But you get my drift. I’ve always wanted to know the math when these proponents come up and say, oh, yeah, this is a great way for clean energy. Prove it. Show me. Show me whereby running this sun train from Pueblo to Denver is actually a savings at the end of the day, you know, environmentally and or monetarily, one or the other or both. If you’re claiming it’s both, I want to see it. And then I want to see if we take clean natural gas and we run a station from that and it produces enough power to run these same thousand homes for a day. What’s the difference? I would almost guarantee you, I’d at least bet a $100 bill on it, that the clean natural gas power plant will do far more for far less dollars and investment and environmental damage than these trains running these batteries will. And I’m saying that just because I know how efficient our clean natural gas in Colorado is. We have an abundance of, and I would be hard-pressed to believe that it doesn’t do more so than what these batteries will do on this train. This sun train, they call it. And again, as I said, you read through this article. Nowhere will you find the math of what I just explained. They just talk about how it will be more efficient at the end of the day, but nowhere in here do they talk about how the math equates to where this actually, in fact, is a savings when it’s all said and done. I highly, highly, highly doubt there’s any savings when it’s all said and done. I would venture to guess that it’s a—I’ll go out on a limb here and say it’s 10 to 1, 1 being clean natural gas, clean coal versus this. That would be my guess. John and Cheyenne, you’re next.

All right, well, let’s start with something simple. How much fossil fuels or organic fuels, whatever you want to call it, is going to go into the construction of these batteries?
SPEAKER 16 :
A ton.
SPEAKER 06 :
Let’s start there. Right.

They never talk about that.
SPEAKER 16 :
They never talk about that, John. No, not at all. Never.
SPEAKER 06 :
And we’ve talked about that with EVs. How much fossil fuel goes into EVs to make them before they ever roll off the assembly line?
SPEAKER 07 :
Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. So… That’s that. Second, who owns those tracks?
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, those, as you know, those are all run by the big railroads. In that case, it’s either BSNF or Union, one of the two.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, and what do you think they’re going to charge to rent on that?
SPEAKER 16 :
They don’t run on them for free. Let’s just say that, John. Or they will charge you to haul the cars back and forth, one or the other.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right, or they’ll charge you, if you want your own engine, they would charge you a lease for the track.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right, next question. Sorry, next question. What powers those trains? Diesel. Exactly. It’s an electric… A lot of diesel, by the way. Yeah. Yeah, a lot of diesel. And if you’ve seen the smoke come off of the top of those… Yeah, how environmentally friendly is that, John?
SPEAKER 16 :
Because they’re exempt from all emissions, by the way.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, it’s… There you go. Right there and then. Meanwhile… If you ever look up, if you want to look up some clean-burning coal mines, look up the WyoDak mines outside of Gillette, Wyoming. They’re some of the cleanest power plants in the world. And the company who owns them would probably build another generating station if they just could get the permits to do it because they could sell the power cheaper than anywhere else. Because one of the things they did, I don’t know if you’ve ever been up there, Instead of building the power plant and moving the coal to the power plant, they built the power plant at the coal mine, so they saved the cost of transporting the coal to the power plant. They used conveyor belts and big trucks to move it.
SPEAKER 16 :
What I see happening here, John, is the owner of SunTrain, and by the way, these will be solar-powered to charge the batteries as well. So what I look at on here is the chief technology officer, Chris Smith, basically talked about this. He’s also the co-founder. Frankly, John, as I know how a lot of these things that get funded from government work, the only buddy that will benefit at the end of the day are the founders.

It’s a scam. It’s another scam. That’s right.

Like you said before I called, this is what Doge needs to make go away. Yep.

Get rid of the $10 million that’s funding this.

Right. Say, hey, if you think it’s worth it and you think it’s monetarily sound, go get some investors, sell some stock, and try to make it on your own. Yep. It’s the same thing with the wind farm I’m looking at out my window. There would have not been one windmill one built if it wasn’t for government subsidies. If they had to do it and make it profitable, they would never have one windmill built because they’re not profitable.

This is another one of these that, as you know, John, you’ve been in that industry before. If this were a viable solution, Xcel Energy would already be doing it.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right, I’ll give you a prime example of the stupidity… Which goes for government money. They’re building a huge solar farm south of Cheyenne, almost to the Colorado line, right?
SPEAKER 07 :

First hailstorm. Oh, geez. It’s done.

You’ve got to think about it, because if you look… Did you see those pictures from last year? Oh, yeah. Sure did. Of that Nebraska solar farm? Sure did. Same thing can happen here. That’s right. Anywhere, you know, up and down a front range, you can get a hailstorm and destroy the whole thing. So… I don’t know, John. Hopefully, what do we got, 35 more days until Trump?

Yeah, hopefully he kills all sorts of things along these lines because the reality, again, as I said earlier, John, and I’m not a naysayer. You know me. I like technology. I like new things. I’m willing to try new things out. But at the end of the day, the first time I read this, and I read it a couple of different times, I’m thinking to myself, I mean, this is like selling snake oil. How in the world these guys got money to do this is beyond me. What a bunch of nonsense.

Here’s what you ought to look at. Who did they contribute to? What congressmen and senators did they give money to to help get this pushed through?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, because, you know, I just know as a car guy even, John, when you start factoring all the things that you just mentioned, Andy texted and talked about, you know, the rare earth metal thing, which I talked about a little bit as well. I mean, you factor all of those things in. There’s no way this thing’s a win-win situation.

Well… They did get lucky. Now, granted, granted, if it wasn’t for Jim Harbaugh, and no offense to Jim, I love him, love him as a coach. Hate that he’s in our division, but love him as a coach. If he hadn’t taken the idea that, oh, we can, you know, stop Patrick Mahomes on this, you know, on a, you know, potentially on a fourth down play or a third down play or whatever it might be, then he might have had better luck. But, yeah, you know, Patrick Mahomes is really hard to stop in that four-minute drill that, and then you go down and you get the luck of the goal posts. to help you secure the victory. I don’t know what else there is to say other than we talked about it last week. Either the Chiefs are going to continue to get lucky, it’s just going to be their year, and it’s just going to happen, or it’s going to run out and the Chiefs fans may want to hope that it runs out before they get to the playoffs and so they can get it out of the way, or maybe not. I guess I’m not sure yet. But, yeah, just frustrating as a Broncos fan, I’ll tell you that.

Yeah, okay, so how does this shake out? You know, the Bills, all of that. I mean, after the weekend, how is everything shaping up?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, yeah, Bills lose to the Rams. I think they were looking ahead to their game next week. I believe they play the Lions. It’s opened itself up to, well, there’s a lot of possibilities. The only thing for sure is the Lions are in the playoffs. The Chiefs are in the playoffs. The Chiefs won the AFC West yesterday by winning. In theory, the Chiefs have to win, I think it’s two of their last four games, and then no matter what else happens, they lock up the number one seed, which is a decent possibility. I believe they play the Browns, the Texans, someone else in there, and then they play the Broncos, Dad. So what this means to the Broncos is they’ve got to take care of business next week against the Chiefs. or the Chiefs, the Colts, if they win against there, then they’ve just got to win one of their remaining three games, and the Dolphins have to lose one of their games, and if they do that, the Broncos will be in the playoffs. So basically the Broncos have to play 500 football the rest of the way, and mind you, Dad, that very last game of the year against the Chiefs, the Chiefs could be playing for nothing. because they could have locked up the number one seat. And so for the Broncos, they’ve just got to keep doing what they’re doing. They have several tough games coming up. Honestly, their next three are tough. They play the Colts. They then play at the Chargers, and then they get a long kind of week to prepare for the Bengals. Again, win two of those three, one Miami Dolphin loss, The Broncos are in the playoffs pretty much no matter what. That kind of clinches it for them. So they’re on track, Dan. They just got to sort of finish it off, and I guess we’ll see. It’s the sign of a young team to maybe not do that, but I think Sean Payton will get them kind of going in the right direction. I think he’ll get them going where they’re supposed to be going, I guess you could say, and kind of focus in as they need to. So exciting there. The college football playoff, Dan, also came out. The first time it’s 12 teams. That was introduced yesterday. And, well, it’ll be, I don’t know, it’ll be interesting, Dad, because you’ve got the first four games are actually on campus, which has never happened before. And so you’ve got the possibility of some of these more, I think we talked about this a little bit last week too or the week before, some of these southern teams maybe playing in some colder weather. For example, Tennessee plays at Ohio State today. here in a few weeks? Well, Ohio in winter can get snow, and that will be interesting, right? I don’t even think Tennessee’s ever played in snow.

And so some of these things there, you’ve got Indiana playing Notre Dame, SMU is playing Penn State, again, a team from Dallas, a team from Texas, playing against uh… yet even if they’d be playing up north in pennsylvania that could be interesting uh… and then i’m missing one of the one i think vocal clemson is going to texas so that that’ll be another one for one but yeah for a first year of it that it’ll be interesting to see how it’s expanded i think the committee actually did a decent job uh… they left alabama out that kind of all the rage right now that’s happening in the in the college football world is all the alabama fans are mad because their team was left out but what i would say the same thing i would say the buff fans which is, you know, if you do your job and you win your games, you don’t have this issue. You don’t have anything to complain about.

True. Good point. Yeah, which in both cases they didn’t do enough of.
SPEAKER 05 :
You are correct, and that’s ultimately what it comes down to. You know, again, we’re talking about a lot of things, right? We talked about elections and all sorts of things, right? If you just take care of yourself, you do your job, and you win, then you don’t really have anyone else to point to except for yourself. And, you know, like you started out this segment, In reference to the Chiefs, another situation where they do their job, as painful as it is sometimes, they do their job and they kind of go from there. So it’ll be, like I said, interesting upcoming weeks. Normally you don’t have college football going this deep, to be honest with you, or this late in the season, or you do, but not with the type of games. Correct. So again, first year of this new 12-team playoff, a lot of people think it’s going to expand to 16 teams at some point in time. We’ll see. I still think it may not be that much or may even get larger than that. And then the Buffs, they play in the Alamo Bowl, which is a letdown, Dad, because it’s not the college football playoff like we talked about. However, it is basically the highest bowl you can get to without being in the college football playoff. Basically, they get the first pick. Now, granted, there’s some tie-ins that they have to group in. Basically, it had to be an old Pac-12 school and a big 12 school. But I’m just going to show you. CU is a draw. And one thing, Daddy, a lot of people have given Deion and his grief for a lot of different things he’s done. One thing he said, because this has been a trend over the past few years, is the top players… not playing in bowl games, right, for fear of injury.

Right, right, right.

All those different things. And it actually happened to Deion’s alma mater last year, or one of his alma maters, with Florida State. They had a bunch of guys. They weren’t in the college football playoff. It was a big deal. They opted out of the game. Well, Deion kind of sort of hinted at that wasn’t going to be his by saying, nope, all of his guys are going to play. And I think that he’s, you know, we’ve talked about this a little bit, where he’s more old school than I think people like to give him credit for. Right. And this is one of the ways where he’s not letting his players get off. To just say, hey, you guys are essentially going to come and finish what you started. Now, right, wrong, or otherwise, does this game mean anything? Well, it means something to the fans, Dad, because at CU, the last two bowl games we played had been the Alamo Bowl. And we have gotten destroyed each time.

Slaughtered. Back in, I think, yeah, I think 2014, 2016, somewhere around there, we got killed. And then we played, I can’t remember who we played before then, maybe Clemson. And we got destroyed there, too. So it’s just, it hasn’t been a great situation. Maybe it was Texas we played. It hasn’t been a great situation. So for CU, Dad, this is our first 10-win season in a number of years if we win this bowl game. It’s an opportunity to go to a bowl game, to actually compete. And then, honestly, for CU fans, it’s the last time to see Shador and Travis Hunter. Who should… Be the likely Heisman winner, Dad.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, that’s one thing I was going to ask you about, too, before we close out this particular segment on the whole Heisman end of things. Not that it’s everything, but it is a lot. And to have a player from your school, your team, win that award, that’s a very high honor. And as you know, it doesn’t come that often, although I feel, unfortunately, there’s a lot of politics involved.
SPEAKER 05 :
There’s a lot of politics. Well, and one thing that we’ve got going for us is Deion has played that well, and he has gotten the CU team to play it well because they have marketed our nominee, who is Travis Hunter, extremely well, and they’ve gotten him a lot of publicity, and he’s gone on shows, and he’s done a lot of things. And here’s the deal with that. There’s really two top guys, right? There’s Travis Hunter, and then there’s the kid for the running back for Boise State, Ashley Gentry, who, you know, he’s right up there in, you know, all-time rushing yardage. He’s got a the ability to, or potential to pass Barry Sanders, depending on how he does in his college football game, although you can argue about that because he’s had more games to do it, blah, blah, blah. Here’s what I will say to this. There’s going to be other great running backs that come after Ashton Genting. That’s nothing, that’s not a slide against him.
SPEAKER 16 :
And really quick, too, you’re also not knocking the Mountain West Conference, but you’re not in, you know, the SEC or the Big 12, or am I wrong in saying that?
SPEAKER 05 :
No, well, you’re 100% correct. I watched him on Friday, and I think he’s a good player. I think he’ll actually compete well.
SPEAKER 16 :
I did too, but he’s not playing against the same players that Hunter is.
SPEAKER 05 :
You are correct, and there’s a difference. And the difference is Travis Hunter is arguably the top receiver and top defensive back, even though he wasn’t even nominated for the top defensive back award, which is just a whole other conversation. It’s crazy that, real quick on that, the top defensive back in the nation award is Jim Thorpe, right? Well, what do we know Jim Thorpe for? Playing multiple positions, right? Both ways. That’s what Jim Thorpe did. And the fact that Travis Hunter, who does that, wasn’t nominated, just crazy. But he really is arguably the best corner and best receiver in college football this year. Best overall player, most outstanding. There’s just never really been someone who does it as well as he does. on both sides of the ball, and he does it not even sparingly. He does it all game. He really doesn’t take a playoff. It’s truly astounding. And so, again, there’s no slight against Ashton Gentry. I think he’s a very willing or not willing, deserving runner-up, and I think in any other year he probably would have won it. However, there’s been other group of five running backs that have done really, really well. Several guys from San Diego State who are in, I think, the top five all-time or top ten of individual rushing seasons. And I think maybe they made it to the ceremony, but they didn’t win it. And so ultimately, I think Travis should do it. And back to what I was saying, CU’s done a really good job marketing. We’ll know the finalists here in about an hour, which obviously he will be one of them. And then we’ll know who ends up winning it this Saturday after the Army-Navy game.

All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. As a part of what we do for Saturdays on Drive Radio, we do a car review almost every week, Richard. We do as much as we can. And before we get into that really quick, for those of you listening, a lot of you will be out there looking at end of the year, businesses, taxes, all sorts of things. Great time to buy a car, by the way. There’s lots of inventory, some pretty good deals out there. But, Richard, you recently drove a 2025 Genesis GV80. 3.5 turbo prestige all-wheel drive.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, so this is kind of a mouthful, Dad, but yeah, 2025 GV80. There’s several different trim levels to choose from, as you know and as some of the listeners know. Genesis sort of does it kind of. You sort of buy the trim level, right? There’s not necessarily additional add-ons and stuff you do. They’re definitely available, but you kind of buy the trim level you want. And you can get this car, Dad, for less than $60,000 if you want to opt for that a little bit smaller engine, the four-cylinder turbocharged, which still works great. Or you can kind of go to the higher end, which is where we were at, which is the V6, twin-turbo V6, I should say, which worked really, really well. Fuel economy, 16 and 22 for an average of 19. And, Dad, the one we had is right up there. This class of car, this not extra-large SUV, but I’m still going to call it a large SUV, right? This larger size SUV class SUV. that doesn’t necessarily have the third row, but it’s got plenty of room in the second row, is becoming a very, very competitive class, especially in the luxury segment, which is where this Genesis is meant to be. And at $81,000, you would expect that. And some of you listeners are going, Richard and John, $81,000. What I would say, folks, is look at some other competitors. And for a car similarly equipped, you’re going to be $10,000, even $20,000 higher for a very similarly equipped car. So what has Genesis done, Dad? Well, they introduced this car, let me see here, back in 2021, kind of the first GV80 generation. So this year, not a whole lot’s changed. Some subtle exterior changes, enhancements, whatever you want to say it. And the instrument cluster is now one nice big 27-inch display. It’s got a lot of the creature comforts that you would expect on a vehicle of this price point in size. Massaging front seats, heated and cooled. You’ve got heated seats in the back. I think you’ve even got cooled seats in the second row. This one, Dad, was outfitted not with the third row seats, But sort of with the, I’m going to call it, and I’m probably going to butcher it, so my apologies, Genesis. I’m going to call it the chauffeur’s second row. And what I mean by that is basically the second row is more of a… Well, it’s more of a you can have it as a chauffeur car, right? If you’re an executive, you want someone to drive you around, it’s got the ability to do that because the second row passenger can actually move forward the front passenger seat if they desire, give them some more leg room. They can actually recline those seats a little bit. It’s got your color-changing interior. It’s got a fragrance dispenser in it. I could go on and on, Dad, about the list of technology in it. But Genesis has done that, and you see this badge, and honestly, Dad, you see this car, and I’ll say it, even at $80,000, you think this car’s worth a lot more money than that. And they’ve done a phenomenal job at it. They really have some cool tech, Dad, and you can sort of speak to this as far as suspension-wise goes to where it actually has cameras. that search the road in front of you and find, basically, find potholes, whatever it might be, and essentially prepare the suspension for said environment, right, that it’s getting ready to go over. So, yeah, so maybe the right side is going to go over a bump. Well, it can actually anticipate that, have the suspension system plan for that just on the right side and keep you going as smoothly as you can. And I will say this, Dad. Driving down the road in this car, it is smooth, it is quiet. And it’s just something that you get in this car and you feel luxurious. It’s even got this mood, Dad, or this mode where it sets the mood or kind of lets you be in this zen mode where you can sit in the car and it can massage you and it plays this relaxing music. So you can just kind of veg out for a second, to be honest with you. So it’s a really cool vehicle. You’ve driven some Genesis over the years, and they’ve honestly kind of – they tend to impress every time you get in them, don’t they? Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, you know, Genesis is a brand that for a lot of folks, and they’re becoming more and more popular because you get a lot of car for the money, and I’ve said it numerous times, you know, you’re going to go spend in a lot of cases, you know, depending upon the model of Genesis and so on and what you’re competing against, but anywhere from… 20 to 50 grand more to go find another like luxury vehicle, like the one you’re, you’re looking at on the Genesis side. And I’m not exaggerating when I say that that’s how much of a better value they are than some of the other vehicles that are on the road. And for those that are listening, yes, Hyundai is the parent company, but there is no other Hyundai Kia that matches what Genesis is doing. It literally is its own line. Uh, It’s a lot like what some of the other luxury car makers do that are out there as well. So, no, it is not like the other sister companies that are there underneath the Hyundai brand or the Hyundai label, if you would. Richard, Genesis is its own deal, if you would, and they build a very nice luxury car for a very great value.

They do. And the other thing is, as we’ve talked about this before, they’re willing to stand behind it in terms of their warranty, right? Right. unlimited mile anti-perforation warranty this is on top of some complimentary rate maintenance and some service valet that that you get by buying the genesis which like you said is in is in direct competition to some of the other manufacturers right some of the other luxury brands right that are kind of doing some of that so overall that i i was i was pleased with it like you say business is getting to the end of the year i don’t know if it’s necessarily you know fits your requirements, whatever you’re looking to do. But I would strongly encourage you, if you’re looking for a large luxury SUV or whatever you want to refer to it as, right, enough for four full-size adults without any issues at all, I would encourage folks, head to your local Genesis dealer, test drive it, get out and experience this car. And if it’s been a while since you have, I really encourage you to do that because I think you’ll be really happy.
