So again, and some of you may be tuning in just now here at 4 o’clock, and we’re expecting to hear, because I promoed this, Scott calling in live from some of the events going on at the Capitol and so on. And reality is, because of the change of locations and what happened, which, by the way, there were a lot of folks that were planning on being in the actual inauguration itself and not having to watch from an outside area. that were probably disappointed, Scott, because I think they limited who could actually get into the actual inauguration. It was scaled way back. Am I right? For today, it was 600. Okay. In the rotunda.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, that’s what I thought. And then they had an overflow area of a couple of thousand, and a lot of that was spouses of other folks that couldn’t get in. So it changed everything drastically.
SPEAKER 16 :
A lot of people had to go to watch parties and things like that to even see what was going on, right? Yeah. And at the arena, there were people were camping out last night. Yeah, I’m not doing that. Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
Sorry. Those days are over for me, Scott. Not doing that. I don’t blame you. No doubt. I wouldn’t do that either. But it was real fun. You know, and Greg Lopez, which you know, and has been on Kim’s show. Who was our congressman for six months. Did a show with Greg a couple of weeks ago. And it was really good. And Greg was really open for the hour just talking about what it was like.
SPEAKER 16 :
you know, being really quick for those of you that may not know. So Greg took Ken Buck’s spot because he resigned, remember early from his term. And so there was a special election. Greg won that election and said, I’m not going to run for the next one. I just want to serve this particular time. And to his credit, that’s exactly what he did.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. And he didn’t want to go as a placeholder was his exact work. I mean, he wanted to get stuff done and man, I pulled up all the bills, things that he sponsored and different work he did. And he really worked that six months while I was there. And, uh, Made a lot of great connections and friends. And he has some stories to tell. Really shared some interesting stories. And one was, he said, like the first vote he was doing, they bring by a little machine, he said, and you pull out your card and you put it in the machine for your vote. And then the machine went to the next congressman. That guy pulled out his card, put it in, then reached in a side pocket and pulled out five cards. and kept feeding it. And Greg was like, wow, I know I’m new, but isn’t this kind of like stuff in the ballot box that goes, yeah, this is for the ones that aren’t here. So then we went and I said, well, how’s that fair? That’s kind of weird because, you know, I think records have to show like how many votes your Congressman voted on. And you would assume when you see that record that they were there present voting in person voting. And that’s not the case.
SPEAKER 16 :
I didn’t know that. Yeah, he didn’t either. I mean, you taught me something. And by the way, a lot of people probably don’t know that because those aren’t things that are most likely publicized. Because they want you to think they’re there. We’re paying them to be there, by the way. That’s their job is to be there. I get it. There’s other things that they have come up from time to time that don’t allow them to be there. But really, by and large, they should be there. That’s my opinion. It’s their job. It’s what we’re paying them to do. Sure.
SPEAKER 03 :
But it was great. And, you know, Greg… I tried to pull it out of him and to see what his next plans are. And he’ll be doing something. He said, stay tuned. And so, you know, he’s a good man. He’s a good guy. I’ve been working with him about four years. I actually met him at the international sportsman’s expo in 2020. And he just walked by the booth. I didn’t know him. He didn’t know me. And, Just spent about 20 minutes with him, and, man, I was like, man, this guy, I like what he’s saying. I’ve had him on air before. He’s a good guy.
SPEAKER 16 :
I like Greg. I think he’s a good representation of what we have going on in Colorado. And, yeah, I think we will see how things, you know, bode for him moving forward. But, yeah, for those of you listening, I don’t think Greg’s done politically speaking. What happens next, who knows? We’ll see. But you learn a lot in D.C.,
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, yeah, absolutely. And even during COVID, he and I went to a meeting one time, and I really started hanging with him a little bit there for all the restaurant owners were getting together, just saying, we’re not going to do this anymore. And so Greg, you know, he was, I think, president of the Small Business Administration.
SPEAKER 01 :
He was.
SPEAKER 03 :
And he was mayor of Parker, you know, at a young age. So he’s done a lot of things, you know, in the Hispanic community, well-respected. And so I sure hope he’ll dive into the right thing.
SPEAKER 16 :
Any other interesting stories when you interviewed him about what goes on in D.C.? ?
SPEAKER 03 :
How much inside stuff actually happens? Just the politics. And he said, man, he said, you know, you’re a political person, but the politics and everybody’s trying to get a favor. Yeah. Well, if you’ll help me with this, I’ll help you with this. And I mean, it’s like, let’s make a deal every day of your life. Wow.
SPEAKER 16 :
of just i mean and that that one doesn’t shock me because i could see how that’s a lot of how that’s done hey you help me with this bill i’ll help you with your bill you know that sort of thing you know you scratch my back i’ll scratch yours you know that sort of a thing you see some of this in tv of course from time to time and you wonder how much that’s really real well i’m guessing probably probably more than you can think and it’s probably worse than you can imagine is my guess on that end of things and it was amazing he said how many you know
SPEAKER 03 :
things that they would give you like to keep the government um fluid with money to whether it wouldn’t stop the government um they give him this 1500 page thing like at 6 30 at night to vote at 7 30 the next morning so nobody’s always reading that to read that and he said it’s amazing how many things that people don’t know and they ask their interns to read hey let me know what are the highlights or let me know what this guy’s doing or this gal’s doing and so
SPEAKER 16 :
And so what they’re doing is they’re taking, you know, and my take on that would be, and if it were me, because you can’t read that many pages overnight, I guess you could, but you’d be up all night reading that. So they’ll take four or five individuals. You read this section. The next one reads this section. The next one, you know, you get where I’m going with this. And then to your point, give me the highlights that are coming out of, you know, give me the cliff notes on those particular, you know, areas of what’s going on. And, you know, then you’re relying on that particular individual to find what those highlights are, report those back to you. And that’s how those guys are voting.
SPEAKER 03 :
And they were saying, hey, we need to all get out of here for Christmas to get with our families. And he’s like, wait a minute. We’ve got a responsibility here. We have a duty. To do this right.
SPEAKER 16 :
And so it was interesting. And by the way, him doing that are the guys the rest of the tenured guys don’t like. Yeah, exactly. Because they’re used to doing it a certain way, and now this guy comes along and in a way rocks the boat. And, of course, Scott, you know, they don’t like that. The newbie’s rocking the boat. We better retrain him. I know. Or retrain her or whatever the case may be. Because, yeah, I mean, the old guard has their way of doing things.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, you’re absolutely right. And he said, you know, he gained some respect there, you know, of different people saying, you know, I remember when I was like that.
SPEAKER 16 :
And you know what I would ask back? If I were in those shoes and one of those guys were to say something like that to me, my comment back would be, why aren’t you still? What’s changed? Didn’t you go here on purpose to be like me? So why aren’t you still? That would be my question back. I know. Because most of them will tell you those stories that, yeah, they go there, they’re on fire, they’re this, they’re that, and then all of a sudden they get into the routine of what’s going on and where the payola is and so on. I mean, it’s still amazing to me. This is a question I would ask Greg as well. It’s amazing to me that most of them go not – you know, a few start out fairly wealthy. That’s how they got elected and so on, especially on the Senate side. But on the House side, most of them go in, honestly – probably that’s just going to be their next job. I mean, they’ve not built up much net worth when it’s all said and done. But yet, when they leave… Somehow, somehow. Even some of those that leave after 10, 12 years, whatever the case may be. It’s amazing to go in broke, but come out millionaires. And I’m not exaggerating in what I say.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, no, you’re right.
SPEAKER 16 :
So how is it that it works that way? And I get it, there’s speaking fees and different things along those lines and so on. But I think there’s other things that happen, i.e. insider trading and so on, where these guys get tips on things that they’re able to go out and make investments on that you and I can’t do because we’re not privy to the same information.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I assume, from just talking with him, It’d be pretty easy to lose touch with reality. Absolutely. Because, I mean, you’ve got a driver everywhere. You know what I mean? You’ve got all these aides running around, all this staff and so on, right? You’ve got interns, staff, and, you know, if you’re not careful, you could lose touch.
SPEAKER 16 :
And the respect level of when you go different places because you’re a senator or a congressman, that title goes along with that as well, right?
SPEAKER 03 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, I can see how these guys and gals can lose touch because it can quickly go to your head, and that’s the problem I have with most politicians is it does.
SPEAKER 03 :
And Greg, you know, he just challenged everybody to get to know your political folks that are in your— Your leaders. Your leaders, you know, and really study them and write them. to questions and different things and emails be involved very few of us do that right i’m going to be honest including myself but no i’m telling you no most don’t you’re correct and you know kim and i were talking this morning a little bit i was on with kim and um we were talking about how do we get more involved you know for just the everyday person because i told her i said how could any american forget republican or democrat Not be in love with what they saw today. Right. With just, man, a leader. Right. You know, he’s not the savior of the world. No. He’s not going to be the pastor or starting a church somewhere. I’m not looking for all that. I’m just looking for somebody to lead the country. Hey, get us back making money. Get us back secure borders.
SPEAKER 16 :
Get us respectful among the rest of the nations and so on.
SPEAKER 03 :
Get rid of some of the nonsense. These other leaders of these nations now are awake. Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Most definitely. Most definitely. Well, I appreciate you taking time, Scott, and joining us.

It’s been a privilege, yeah.

And I wish you could have stayed out there.

I wish things were worked out a little bit differently. But, hey, we’re not in control of the weather. And no, folks listening, I’m not a big conspiracy theorist. I don’t think there were multiple threats on his life. Well, let me say this. There are going to be threats on his life every day. He is in a position right now where – and, by the way, there probably were on Biden’s as well. When you’re in that position, those things are going to happen, period. But do I believe – They moved it inside just because of that. No, I think it was very much weather related. It was very cold outside. He reiterated that today, you know, numerous times. And, you know, would it have been nice to have it outside? Well, yeah. But, you know, look at a day like today here. Would you want to be outside? No. No. That’s miserable. That’s just no fun doing that. Now, if you’re the Buffalo Bills fans. Yeah, it is funny people can sit out. I mean, the two games yesterday were colder than what was in D.C. And some of the guys are not wearing shirts.

I can’t believe that.
SPEAKER 16 :
No. Unbelievable. Well, and I will say this. There’s probably some supporters. They very much would have done that same thing, but most likely they’re not there because they don’t have the ability and the credentials to be there. Right. There are definitely some Trump fans out there that would have been doing it just like the games we saw yesterday. Well, I appreciate it.
SPEAKER 03 :
And real quick, do you think… These assassination attempts changed him some. Yes. I mean, you just look at demeanor. Absolutely. You know, he was at the Gaylord a couple months ago. We went there and, you know, had really good seats for that. But just watching his demeanor.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, and this is how I – really quick, and then I’ll let you go. I’ve said this, and I know I look at things differently than most. You know, a lot of people – and you saw a lot of memes and different things over social media. You know, God spared Donald Trump’s life so he could lead the nation. And I look at it differently. God allowed what happened to happen to change Donald Trump’s life, not our lives.
SPEAKER 03 :
Great way to look at it.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s how I look at it. God allowed to have happen what happened, so Donald Trump’s life would be changed moving forward. And even in the speech today where he said, and we’re going to have – one God that will follow in this country. And to me, that’s what those things did, and it was God doing that through his life, not so much for the rest of us.

All right, we are back again. Thanks, Scott. I appreciate you joining us there for that short time today. Give us an update. Somebody also mentioned, too, that don’t forget Donald Trump said he would immediately roll back some of the EV mandates that are out there, which I’m all for. I mean, you guys all know my feelings on that. We’ve talked about that in depth on this program many, many times in the past, mainly because I’m not bragging, but I feel like we have as much experience. do have as much experience with EVs as probably anybody else in media has just because of my background in the automotive world and so on. So, yeah, I appreciate him saying that, and I think that’s the right move. I’ve always said, if they’re going to stand on their own two feet, then they should. Otherwise, we shouldn’t be subsidizing them. Nobody subsidized the iPhone back when it came out, and somehow it made it, because it was innovative, and it was new, and it solved a problem, consolidated things that we used to all carry around at different times, and it met a need, and it sold because of it. If EVs were that way, they would stand on their own two feet as well. Somebody also asked me, did I think Donald Trump looked tired today? I will say that he’s definitely older than he was the last time we had an inauguration. No doubt about that. Definitely older. Eight years older, to be exact. I, though, I didn’t feel like and I’ll get Charlie’s opinion on this. I don’t feel like it was so much that he was tired as relieved. I think for him, this was the marathon that he’s run now for several years. He’s had so much stuff thrown at him from all the court cases and so on, all the different trials and different things he’s been through. I think today for him, and I’m speaking for him because I don’t know him personally, but to me, it was just a relief getting across the finish line. And you don’t have to run again. Thank you, Charlie. So for me, that was what I saw in his demeanor and attitude more than being tired. Now, would any of us be tired knowing everything he’s had to do to get where he’s at now? And by the way, these last 60 days for him since the election, has he had to do a lot to get ready for Inauguration Day yet? Yeah, he’s going to sign. There are rumors that by tomorrow he’ll sign 200 orders, something in that neighborhood. Now, that doesn’t happen overnight. And he would have had to have been working on those with his staff and team all the way up to today to even be able to do that tomorrow. Again, none of that happens automatically. It takes time. Now, we all know and we hear the stories, and I think they’re very true. He doesn’t spend a lot of time sleeping. So he’s a very energetic individual, even at his age. And I will say this, go back in time and look at where Joe Biden was at this age versus where Donald Trump is now. And I will tell you that there’s very few people that have the same energy Donald Trump has at his age. Very few. Doesn’t mean that he won’t get tired. We all do. I can tell you being a year old or every year for me, not that I’m slowing down and getting more tired or anything along those lines, but for me personally, mentally, you’ll notice even probably for 2025, it’s my goal to even take a little bit more time off than I have in the past just because for me mentally, working six days a week solid, putting in the 60, 70 hours a week that I put in. Yeah, I will tell you that as I am now 60 – And I need a little more recovery time than I did when I was 40, even when I was 50. And I’ll be the first to admit it. Now, I’m not Donald Trump’s age. What is he, Charlie, 74, 70, 70 or 70? I thought it was 72. Sorry. We’ll look it up. Anyways, he’s in his 70s. You know, he’s a decade older than I am. And, yeah, I could see at that age working the amount of hours and doing the things that he does where you would be, oh, thank you, he’s 78. That’s what I thought. I knew it was much older than myself. So he’s 18 years older than me. Yeah, I can tell you that, you know, 18 years from now, will I be more tired than I am today? Absolutely. We all will. But I didn’t really see, again, for me, it wasn’t so much him being tired as it is being relieved. It’s sort of like those football players that finally win the Super Bowl. At the end of the game, do they look tired? Well, of course, they’ve just played a rather intense game. But they also know that, hey, I get some time off. Yeah, I’ve got to prepare for the next season. But they can take time off, and they’re relieved that it’s over. And on to the next chapter. And to me, that’s what I saw in Donald Trump today. And I will say this, too, and Charlie and I were talking about this before coming on air. And I did. I purposely went out today, like Stacey Washington was even talking about that we interviewed in the 3 o’clock hour. I purposely looked at a lot of liberal websites today on purpose. What are they saying? What kind of attacks do they have coming after Trump? And really, other than… I’m just being straight up honest. Other than opinion pieces, which take those with a grain of salt because everybody’s got one. Other than opinion pieces, I didn’t see any major headlines from any of the even… Now, there are some really outlandish leftist sites I didn’t go to. But the majority of just leftist sites in general, and Charlie said the same thing, I didn’t see major attacks being thrown at Donald Trump. They just covered the inauguration like… It was any other, you know, news day, and I really didn’t see any, you know, huge attacks being thrown at him. Again, there are opinion pieces, and I’m not talking about those. You’re going to see those coming from all sorts of people, and you’ll see those now all the way through. You saw them with Joe Biden and so on. It’s just the way things work. And they run those on purpose. Sometimes I think they run them because it gets people’s, you know, dander up, makes them excited, gets people reading the rest of their pages and so on. So that’s why they throw some of those things in. And most of the opinion pieces aren’t written by staff at that particular publication, by the way. They’re typically things that have been submitted, and they run them. Am I right, Charlie, in how I’m saying that? Typically, that’s how opinion pieces work. It may be a writer there that’s throwing an opinion piece in, but generally speaking, these are… Yeah, thank you, Charlie. These are leaders of a group or they’re a freelance writer that writes opinion pieces and submits them to all sorts of different organizations and so on. And they become fairly well known for being an opinion writer and so on. And that’s where a lot of those pieces come from. And by the way, sometimes they’re paid, sometimes they’re not. It depends on the circumstances and what’s going on. But, you know, if you see an opinion piece and they’re always titled that. And that’s where even me here with what I do, I’m always careful that I don’t use too many opinion pieces on air because they’re an opinion. They’re not factual. Right. They’re based upon what somebody else thinks. And that’s okay. And there can be a nugget or two of truth in some of those that you can pull out. But I typically don’t use a lot of opinion pieces here because they’re just that. So, again, outside of some opinion pieces that were out on the Internet and on some of these sites and so on, yeah, you’re going to find your social media pages and so on where the lefties are literally their heads exploding. Because as I talked with Scott a few minutes ago, you know, it’s a new era. Donald Trump’s in charge. Now, lastly, before we go to break and I talk to my son, we’ll come back, talk a little sports. For all of you conspiracy theorists that thought today wouldn’t happen, that the left would somehow take him out or that he’s been president all along. That’s another one that’s out there. Well, he’s been president all along. No, folks, he hasn’t. Sorry. You can think that. But no, reality is he hasn’t been. And to a lot of you that are on that side of the fence, all I can encourage you to do is look at things a little bit more rationally and a little bit more reasonably, a little more factually, and you’ll find these next four years to be, I think, very rewarding when it’s all said and done. All right, we are back, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Richard Rush joining us now. All right, Richard, weekend of sports, which you and Andy are usually pretty correct on most everything, but the old Detroit Lions didn’t come through this weekend.
SPEAKER 08 :
You know, we were on track to be – well, I guess – I can’t remember if – I think Andy and I both said Baltimore, if I’m not mistaken. So I think we missed that one, too. But, yeah, the Lions, Dad, I think it was sort of – the Lions were an example of what happens when – maybe you don’t know how to win yet. You know, it’s why we talked about it was so important for the Broncos to make it to the playoffs this year because – That experience, and you see it with the Chiefs, because they are unimpressive in every aspect of their game, except for maybe the one that matters the most, which is their mental fortitude and their toughness. They just know, I mean, Mahomes throws for less than 200 yards. Their offense as a whole gets outgained by over 100 yards. It was a recipe for them to lose, and yet they end up winning by, I think it was eight and a half or nine or something of that nature, right? You know, you’d even do it with eight. They should have won by more than that. But it just, the Lions just feel like a team where they had all the expectations in the world, right? The NFL world of Detroit, of Michigan, never been to a Super Bowl. They were so close, and yet they just kind of, when Washington, a team, a young team, that’s really got nothing to lose, right? They’ve got everything to play for, everything to gain, nothing to lose, because they weren’t supposed to be there in the first place. They won four games a year ago. They’ve got a new head coach, although he had a second go-around. They’ve got a rookie quarterback. They weren’t supposed to be there. So sometimes that reckless abandon can go a long way in really helping a team kind of play above and beyond themselves. And I think that’s what happened, Dad. And I think you saw with Detroit, again, you saw a team that, Again, I don’t want to say they shouldn’t have been there because they were. They were good all year. They had too many injuries. And then I think just a combination of they picked the wrong time to have their worst game of the season. And then they also, again, I think that I don’t want to say next year is the year because you would have thought this year was the year. But they maybe just are figuring it out a little bit, right, figuring out how to be the favorite. Because there’s something to be said. And that’s why what Kansas City, as much as this pains me to say this, has been so incredible over the past few years is is they’ve been the team that everyone’s taking a shot at, and they still are coming out on top, right? Like, they are the champions twice in a row, going for three in a row, and they’re still taking everyone’s best shot and still prevailing. So it’ll be interesting data. I feel for Detroit as much as, you know, lots of feelings about that city and everything else I know, which is yours and I’s thought. You’ve got to feel for them at some point in time, right? They’ve really had, outside of their, you know, They won a World Series. But, man, when it comes to the NFL world, the only thing football-wise they’ve got is Michigan. And they were lackluster this year. So, yeah, it was interesting, Dad. But, you know, again, on the other side of things, obviously you’ve got the Chiefs. You’ve got the Ravens and the Bills, which, again, was a great game. The Bills ended up prevailing. And, again, I don’t care who it is, Dad. I just hope that… Here’s a question.
SPEAKER 16 :
I mean, I think it’s an easy one. Maybe I’m completely wrong. You and Andy will talk about it more on Friday. But Eagles are going to beat the Commanders. That one, I think, is pretty much a given. I would be shocked if it’s anything different, given the fact that Eagles are home and their crowd is second to none. They and the Chiefs, I mean, let’s face it, as far as home field advantage goes, those two are right up there towards the top. But the Bills and the Chiefs, I mean, the Bills… have a real opportunity, and they came very close to beating the Chiefs once. Can they do it this weekend?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, I mean, I think they can. I mean, again, I know what Andy’s going to say, which is that the Bills are a better team. They know what they’re doing. And again, like I said, Kansas City is unimpressive. The thing that Kansas City does that is they really don’t beat themselves, right? Like Mahomes doesn’t throw interceptions. They don’t throw the ball over. They don’t have ill-timed penalties. They just kind of do what they’re supposed to do. And in the Bills, Well, the Ravens kind of did it last weekend. The Ravens kind of beat themselves. And so the key for me this upcoming weekend, and I’ll talk about it more on Friday, but can the Bills, again, play within themselves, right? You know, don’t force it, because it seems like that, you know, with the Texans, Their quarterback, you know, they snap the ball right before the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter. They run a play. Well, then their quarterback gets sacked, and he’s trying to call a timeout. It’s like, did you not know that you guys were like a second away from the two-minute warning? So there was no need to call a timeout. And so it just feels like teams lose their minds when they play the Chiefs. And so I think the biggest key all week, I think Buffalo’s more talented. I think Buffalo’s a better team. I don’t think they have a better coach or the better quarterback. I think Mahomes is really good, although this year Josh Allen is doing exceptionally well. But can they not beat themselves? And that, to me, will be the biggest indicator if they can win or not.
SPEAKER 16 :
We’ve got a comment from Bob on the Bills and Ravens. Go ahead, Bob.
SPEAKER 07 :
Hey, Richard and John. I laid a bet. I won. But I don’t know how the sportsbook figures this out. The Bills and the Ravens, the Bills were favored by one and a half. They won by two. The over and under was 51.5, and the over and under was 52 at the end. How can that be a half a point on the score and the over and under on one game? It’s amazing.
SPEAKER 16 :
Richard, you know more about that probably than anybody when it comes to the betting end of things.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, first I’ll say this, Bob, and you know this. Those casinos, those monstrosities out in Vegas weren’t built off of losers, right? They weren’t built off of dummies. You weren’t built off of winners.
SPEAKER 16 :
They were built off of losers.
SPEAKER 08 :
Correct. Well, exactly. They were built off of losers, I guess. Exactly. They were not built off of dumb people, right? And so I don’t know exactly how they do it. It’s kind of this hidden science. But whoever the odds makers are, they are stinking good at what they do. I mean, you said that one, Bobby, of the Ravens and Bills. Look at the Kansas City game. I believe that over-under was at, I think, eight and a half, and I believe they ended up winning by nine, which was a result of that safety, which is just crazy. I can’t remember. I think it was nine. It’s crazy. And lucky, good, rigged. I don’t think it’s rigged. I just think that they’ve been doing it long enough, Bob, to know that, They kind of know how to do it. I wish I had a better answer for you, though.

But on both scores, I mean, the Bills favored by one and a half. They won by two. The over and under was 51.5, and that was a half a point.

But now… Yeah, because the line’s going to move, right? And so that’s part of the equation, too, Bob, is the final line is what it is. And it was close either way, but obviously it’s going to move with where the money’s at, right? So if more money’s going on the Ravens, the Bills are going to pull ahead. And if more money’s going on the Bills, the Ravens are going to pull ahead, right? Because they want to even it out. They want a 50-50 split, right, ideally. Or really not even 50-50. They just want to encourage people to bet… kind of one side or the other, and if they can kind of get more people, they’ll move the line. But it is a crazy coincidence, but I’m not quite ready to say it’s a rigged situation, but it’s definitely a little bit eerie, as we say.
SPEAKER 07 :
But in both instances, on the score and the over and under, was decided by .5 of a point. Wow. Kansas City and the Bills are… they’re real close. That’s a point and a half between the two of them, and the over and under is 46.5, so I don’t know.
SPEAKER 16 :
Great point, Bob. No, you bring up a great point. I appreciate that, by the way, Bob and Richard. Yeah, I mean, again, the betting end of it, I don’t ever do. Don’t mess with. I’m never into any of that, as you know. I leave that up to you and Andy.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, and again, it’s… I’ve only dabbled at it, and there’s lots of people that have made lots of money on that. There’s also lots of people that have lost lots of money, like we were talking about, right? Vegas is built on losers, right? The backs of losers. And so I don’t know if I can just say that throughout the year, you get these crazy sequences where Vegas is within a half a point where they’re dead on, right? You know, maybe the Ravens were favored by a point, they win by a point, which is actually what they don’t want, because then that’s a push, and everyone gets their money, right? And you don’t want that. So that’s why usually I like to set these halves, right? Because the halves… everyone’s a winner or everyone’s a loser. Everyone on one side’s a loser, everyone on the other side’s a winner. Again, they just have it down to a science. Everything goes into it, Dad, right? Where the game’s played, who’s playing, how many points have been scored throughout the year.
SPEAKER 04 :
The temperature, all that stuff, right?
SPEAKER 08 :
Everything goes into it, right? Yeah, exactly. Honestly, I’m surprised that that game was at 50 points when it was supposed to be projected to be a snowy game. But again, that just goes to show you these oddsmakers know, and it goes to show you how good these teams are.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, that is true as well. I’ll let you and Andy finish up and talk more about what the outcome this weekend might look like, and then of course heading down the homestretch into the Super Bowl. There’s all sorts of memes, and I’ve seen lots of them out there today, and sorry Kansas City fans, but the reality is… The majority, and I’m not exaggerating, I think, when I say this, Richard, the majority of the country is going to be voting for the Bills.

Well, and you know, it’s a good spot to be for Kansas City. I’ve talked to a Chiefs fan, and they know, well, the good Chiefs fans will say, they know that you’re the hunted, right? It’s what happened with New England and Brady for all those years, right? True, true. No one wanted to see them win. Everyone wanted them to lose. Good point. When you’re at the King, that’s what happened. I mean, even… You look at Jordan, right? Obviously, I was barely alive for those Jordan-Bowles teams, but you can remember it. I’m sure everyone didn’t want Chicago to continue winning.
SPEAKER 16 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 08 :
And yet they did, right? Correct. I mean, it’s a crazy thing. But, no, you are correct. Most of the country, I think, is tight. It doesn’t help that when you get Mahomes and he’s faking or feigning or accentuating these hits out of bounds and the refs are throwing flags when two Texans collide. And again, I’m not saying it’s rigged, Dad, because I don’t think it is. It’s the farthest thing from it. There’s just too many moving parts to go into it. But what I will say is the Chiefs definitely get a benefit of some calls that maybe they wouldn’t have gotten five years ago, right?

And, again, part of it, it’s good to be king in that sometimes what happens.

All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Got a couple car reviews that we will slip in right now. I shouldn’t say slip in. We always take some time doing these, Richard. And both of us have a couple of cars. I’ll start. I recently drove a 2025 Ford Explorer ST. This is a rear-wheel drive version. They do make an all-wheel drive version of the vehicle. $57,100. It’s a three-liter EcoBoost V6. This is their sport model, of course. I average about 22 miles to the gallon around town. And folks listening, Richard will attest to this. I think because of working in that field for so long, owning four-wheel drive off-road stores and so on, and the Explorers for the longest time just didn’t have the best reputation, Richard. And I’m just being honest, and I know Ford’s going to listen to this review, but they didn’t have the best reputation. So I will tell you, Richard, that Never been one of my favorite vehicles, and I’m just going to be straight up honest. Until now.

No, I was going to say, it hasn’t, and yeah, you kind of talked over there, until now. And folks, I can say, we drive a lot of cars, and he does not call me, we usually don’t talk, and we kind of talk about a car, right, a little bit, but we don’t really rave about a car. And I will say this, that you were very impressed, and I’ll let you go into more details, but
SPEAKER 16 :
about this car and again it’s a it’s a credit to ford because like you say the reputation on explorers over the years hasn’t been the greatest and i think that’s changing a little bit oh absolutely and again i don’t get excited about too many vehicles but after being in this car for just a couple of days we drive them for a week but just a couple of days uh thoroughly impressed the car runs extremely well It handles superbly. It handles more like a sports car than it does an SUV. The one I drove had four captain’s chairs plus the rear back seat, the third seat. Now, you can configure that in multiple different ways, of course. Plenty of room inside, as you can imagine. Very quiet, very comfortable. All of the agronomic things you could ever imagine. In other words, all the bells and whistles and You know, car play, the whole nine yards. I mean, the reality, Richard, is, I mean, this thing’s equipped just like anything else would be. And I will give Ford credit here. And I, again, drive a lot of different vehicles and have owned some. Chevy with the Super Cruise compared to Ford with, I believe they call it Blue Cruise. I will say this, and I’ve said it before driving some of the F-150s, Ford’s automated system far superior to GM’s. And I’m just being straight up honest. Sorry, GM, but Ford has you beat in the way their system works. It’s not jittery. It’s smooth. It’s fluid. And their system, Richard, works extremely well.

Yeah, and you commented about that, and then obviously the other biggest feature, you mentioned the inside, the interior, but you just said the power, right, the performance of that vehicle, and obviously it’s not a new engine for them, right?
SPEAKER 04 :
No, it’s not.
SPEAKER 08 :
They’ve been running the EcoBoost for a while now, and you were just, you were really, it’s probably one of the more overall impressive cars that you’ve driven, especially for this segment, right, and the price point. Segment and price. This car fits. It’s really great.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, under $60,000, and you can buy these even for less than that with some of the discounts that are around. The ST version being their high-performance version. Car works extremely well. I mean, I can see why a lot of the police forces and that have used these things for years. They’re very… uh versatile i guess would be the right word for me to use richard and in their in their segment does this car compete well absolutely and what’s interesting is that it comes in a rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive version i actually drove the rear-wheel drive version and we actually had some snow and some slick roads during that time and i’m being straight up honest I put it in the snow mode because I assumed, because I didn’t look at the Monroney before driving it, I just assumed it was all-wheel drive, so I put it in snow mode and started driving it. Honestly, Richard, I didn’t know I wasn’t driving an all-wheel drive. That’s how well the rear-wheel drive version works with all of the automated systems they have for traction control and so on. Now, if I was going to be in Colorado, would I buy the all-wheel drive version? Yes. But this particular model being rear-wheel drive still worked very well. So I’ll leave it at that. Those of you that are listening, if you want to know more about the Ford Explorer, go check one out at your local Ford dealer. By all means, make sure you tell them that John and Richard Rush, both from Rush to Reason and Drive Radio, sent you. All right, Richard, you drove a car recently as well. Was it a 2024 or 2025 Lexus UX300H?

Yeah, 2025, Dad. And it’s a, yeah, 300, which is the 25 replaces the 250H from previous year’s model. And basically what they did, they upgraded the hybrid powertrain and put it more powerful. It’s got a little bit more get up and go. Folks, this is a compact SUV, right? You know, the car we just talked about, a little bit more of that midsize or even large. Correct. On the board of large, right? This is a compact SUV. And the reason I say that, Dad, is because some people sort of knock this car for not having a whole lot of room. And what I would say is this is the segment, right? These compact SUVs where they sit up a little bit higher, but they don’t sit up super, super high. And they also give you the ability to get all-wheel drive, which this car has. It also has a front-wheel drive model, I believe. But this was the all-wheel drive version. And when you combine that with, you know, get a little bit higher clearance, no, is there a ton of room in the back seat in the second row? No, but this car is not meant for it, right? You know, can you put some kids in a booster seat, which I did? Absolutely you can. But really you’re getting an all-wheel drive SUV that you’re breaking into the Lexus model, right? You’re into that segment of car, you know, kind of the luxury SUV market for under $50,000. And you get all of the apportionments, the interior apportionments that Lexus is known for, their safety, their hands-free control, their automatic braking, their infotainment system, all of the Lexus benefits that you get with Lexus, with other cars, Dad, that are a lot more money, you get, again, for sub-$50,000, which is really hard to beat. We had the F Sport package on this car. There’s a lot of other things. There was a really pretty color that came on this. It was a really pretty blue color. And honestly, Dad, this car works phenomenal. The best thing to me, and again, this is the hybrid version, is the fuel economy. This car, Dad, even with the all-wheel drive version, is only one mile per gallon less than the front-wheel drive version, which is an average of 42. And so you can go a lot of places, and again, I know fuel prices, hopefully you’ll stay good and go down. But if they’re not or you’re worried about that, this is a great option for you, Dad, because you don’t have to plug this car in. It uses the infamous, or not infamous, the famous, I should say, Lexus hybrid, the Toyota hybrid system, which you and I have talked about is really second to none with how well they put their hybrid technology together. And you get all of the benefits of that, again, with the luxury of the Lexus, your name and everything that goes along with it. all inside kind of, and I’m going to say it, a compact package, which is really nice, and especially that if you’re more urban driving, right, where you need to fit into some tighter places, that sort of thing, maybe you’re empty nesters, you’re looking for something where you can maybe haul the grandkids. and still have the ability to put this in a small garage or a tight space at the grocery store, you’ve got the ability to do so. So I encourage folks to check it out. Again, the model we drove, 2025 Lexus UX300H. This is the all-wheel drive version.
