r two gets weird—in the best way. The crew shifts from sharp takes to Valentine’s Day “man card” jokes and starts building a full-on love song playlist—everything from “Unchained Melody” (Ghost) and Elvis to Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Air Supply, and more.
In between songs, they break down why the Super Bowl felt like a dud, why recent ads and movies aren’t landing, and what Hollywood is missing right now: tight editing and actual comedy writing. It’s a running theme—less preaching, more fun—with plenty of ribbing, movie references, and listener picks mixed in.
If you want Rush to Reason with a
SPEAKER 05 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 04 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 05 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 17 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did!
SPEAKER 23 :
Get a job, turd! You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference!
SPEAKER 02 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 04 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush, presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 09 :
And we are back. Hour number two, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate, Charlie Grimes, and Richard, are you with us?
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, that I am.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Richard, do you like love songs? You know, a few good ones, Andy. I’m sure probably not all of yours. Although, Andy, speaking of love, before we get started. Okay. You and I know you and I both did not love that awful Super Bowl, whatever that thing was.
SPEAKER 09 :
You don’t like all defense? Whatever that thing was.
SPEAKER 14 :
Andy, I don’t mind defense, to be honest with you. I really don’t. Right. It was… that was just like, no, everyone’s comparing the Seattle defense to the, you know, 85 bears and even the 2013 Seahawks and my 2015 Broncos. And it wasn’t that, you know what I mean? Like that, that was just kind of a good defense, which I think they’re talented beating up on a not very good team, which you call.
SPEAKER 15 :
I did. I called it, you know, you know what? I saw two things in this Richard. First of all, I think Seattle watched the tape of Denver, uh, Because Seattle came after New England just like Denver did. There was no holding back. Just pin back your ears and go forward. And they did the same thing. Secondly, here’s what I really got a feeling of after watching the Super Bowl. I think that the two NFC teams were just a year ahead in development of the two AFC teams. Okay, and that actually bodes very well for the AFC next year because you catch up. You don’t stay a year behind. You catch up the next year. I think that New England and Denver especially, and a couple others, by the way, in the AFC are coming up fast.
SPEAKER 14 :
Andy, I’m with you. The only thing that concerns me… You and Walt and I were talking about this because Drake is Walt’s guy, right? He really liked him coming out. Yes, he was his man, Cash. He was. That was a concerning performance. And I’m not saying that that’s who Drake May is because I think a lot of factors played into it. But, Andy, that is the type of performance that, you know, I’ll be honest, look at what happened to Cam Newton after the Broncos got to him in 2015. He was never the same player after that. And I’m not saying they’re going to be the exact same, but you rattle a quarterback the way that Seattle did, and I don’t know if you saw some of the behind-the-scenes footage that NFL Films put out, and man, Drake May was just You know what, Andy?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, you know what, Richard, and this is a big thing that Seattle had in common with Denver. It wasn’t just the front four that was getting to him. It was the secondary that was blanketing his targets. He had nowhere to go with the ball, and he was getting clobbered. He was in hell, okay? What happened to him, for anybody who lives a bad life, you’re going to go to hell and spend eternity there. living Drake Mays experience for those three hours. Okay. I mean, it was absolutely horrible, but I don’t think it’ll be that way because he’s on a much better young team than, you know, Cam was on. Although Cam made a great commercial with that kid.
SPEAKER 14 :
Just loosening up my arm. He did, yes. Well, I mean, who knew it was going to be as soon as it was. But, yeah, that was my – it just – it wasn’t a good game. I know we kind of talked about it beforehand, right? We talked about it last Friday. One team will fall apart. It was not – Yes, one team would fall apart. There wasn’t much hype for this. There wasn’t much excitement. The storylines weren’t that great. And it kind of came out that way, right? I mean, I know Seattle fans are happy and all that, which is fine. But honestly, they kind of did what they were supposed to do. I think a healthy Bo Nix. A healthy Bo Nix against Seattle would have been a really interesting performance, Andy. I don’t think so.
SPEAKER 15 :
I think he would have gotten killed. And the reason is they’re a year ahead in development. And I don’t think his offensive line, I don’t think his running game would have protected him well at all. I don’t think you guys have a good enough running game this year. Okay, next year is going to be way different. I think Denver is on the come, baby. But I think Knicks would have gotten clobbered by that defense.
SPEAKER 14 :
The only thing about Andy is J.K. Dobbins, who was our best running back all year, running the ball. he was slated to come back in the Super Bowl. And so I think it would have been interesting. It would have made it more interesting. I’m not saying the results would have been any different. Well, I will say this. I just don’t think it would have been the blowout that it was in the shutdown. But like you say, Seattle’s defense is really good. They have a lot of really good pieces. But can we say, Andy, because obviously, and this is not taking away anything from Sam Darnold, but Sam Darnold is Sam Darnold still, right? He’s not any more or less than we anticipated?
SPEAKER 15 :
You’re right. Sam Darnold was exactly what you predicted, Richard. He was a game manager who went in and struggled. And he did. They didn’t win because of him. They won because of their defense and their running back. Okay, that’s why they won the game. Sam Darnold was nothing special at all.
SPEAKER 14 :
Totally agree. I wholeheartedly agree with you, Andy, and it was an interesting… Well, it was an interesting… All right, on to the more important things. I know we got our songs to get to, but I have a question for you.
SPEAKER 15 :
Go ahead.
SPEAKER 14 :
Because we talked about it on Monday. I know you’re obviously movies, but I know that you watch the entertainment piece of it. Was there any ad that stuck out to you in a really positive way that maybe the rest of us didn’t think about?
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, wow. You know, it was all kind of a blur. Not really. I was so bored with the game, Richard, that I kind of was checking out. Was there anything that jumped out to you?
SPEAKER 14 :
We kind of talked about it on Monday. I’m with you, Andy. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch as many of the commercials live as I would have liked. I would tell my dad. I liked the prostate cancer one, the tight end commercial with Gronkowski and Kittle and Tony Gonzalez. I don’t know if you caught that one. I thought it was pretty funny. Um, and then it was, okay, I guess, I guess on the same note, was there anything that stuck out to you in the negative way? Was there anything that was just so terrible? You were like, that was awful. I have no idea why they aired that.
SPEAKER 15 :
I’m just going to be honest. I have been so disappointed with the ads the last few years in the Super Bowl. They’ve been so unfunny, relentlessly. I kind of check out at ad time. I do. And I know that’s unforgivable for a guy who, you know, I know I review movies. It’s unforgivable. But they’ve let me down so many times, man. It’s been awful. They haven’t made me laugh since, I don’t know, Peyton and his brother did one.
SPEAKER 14 :
I went to you anyway. It’s funny because we were talking about how there was actually a lot of movie ads. And I didn’t honestly nothing kind of stuck out to me that was that exciting come coming up, which I know you and I’ve talked about a little bit that there’s just not a whole lot in the pipeline right now. It doesn’t seem.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, Mandalorian and Grogu, that doesn’t look that exciting. I don’t know. Honestly, although the year has actually started out with a pretty good slate of movies so far, it’s been surprising. But I don’t know. This summer doesn’t look great. We’ll see.
SPEAKER 14 :
Why Andy? Okay. And I know we got to address it. Why is that? What, what is, I know we’ve kind of talked about Hollywood’s fallen off, whatever, but like the Superbowl was like the time where you kind of really get people judged. I know you follow when movies come out, but a lot of people don’t know a movie’s coming out until two weeks later. you know, in advance when they really start ramping up the marketing or even three weeks or four weeks. Yeah.
SPEAKER 15 :
I’ll tell you, I think you’re going to agree with this. And I think John, you will too. I think the biggest thing lacking right now in Hollywood is not the great special effects. It’s not the directing, although that’s a little off. It is two things. Number one, they have no editing. They’re like, they’re making movies that are too long, which is great. If that’s Braveheart and everything in it is good. Okay. Or saving private Ryan, they are making too long movies, but here’s the big thing. They’re not funny. Yeah. They are really, really hurting for good comedic writers in Hollywood. They can’t write funny. They don’t write jokes very well anymore. It’s I mean, seriously, how many and look at it this way. We’re going to be doing love songs here today, Richard. How many good romantic comedies have you seen in the last five years? Think about this for a moment. There was a time during the 90s and early 2000s when there were great romantic comedies coming out all the time. Fifty First Dates and all these. There were so many. Right now. Yeah. I mean, when’s the last time you saw a great romantic comedy? I’m sure you’ve seen one. But how many in the last five years? Think about that.
SPEAKER 14 :
You know, I was just saying, actually, the one with with Sidney Sweeney and Glenn Powell, I think is probably the best one of late. And let’s be honest, that wasn’t wasn’t anything to. Yeah, it wasn’t anything to, you know, but it was better than most, which is saying something. Right, right. You are correct. It’s unfortunate. And we’ve been talking about it.
SPEAKER 15 :
Richard, you would really quick before you run on from that. If you make that movie in the 90s, it goes nowhere because it’s surrounded by a lot of better ones made by Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. See what I’m saying?
SPEAKER 14 :
But so, okay, Andy, is it just the writing and the jokes, or is there some actor, actresses that aren’t buying into it, or is that it?
SPEAKER 15 :
My personal, okay, I’ll just give you, I’ll give you my opinion, you give me yours. My opinion is it is more the writing than the acting. I think the acting is still, you’ve got some very interesting, talented, young comedic actors who can do it, but the writing sucks.
SPEAKER 14 :
I guess I can’t disagree with you. I think it’s kind of a combination, but you’re correct. He’s kind of fallen off, but I’m going to go back to Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock and their proposal, right? Sandra Bullock, she’s got a pretty wide spectrum that she can perform. Ryan Reynolds kind of has his area, but I just don’t view a lot of these I don’t know. I don’t view a lot of these actors and actresses that are willing to kind of explore their depth. I’ll be honest, I guess Sidney Sweeney’s maybe one that is. I mean, she goes from, you know, that, you know, rom-com to The Housemaid to, you know, whatever else. I guess that’s a pretty wide spectrum, and no offense if that’s what we’ve got to work with. I don’t know where we’re going to be going. I don’t know.
SPEAKER 15 :
I think, look, I’ll say this. We need a year where we have like five or six really good romantic comedies to come out. We do. We’ve got to get, Hollywood’s got to become fun again. Okay? Not just bad Marvel movies. This is getting ridiculous. They’ve got to become fun again. They’re not. And I really hope they are. I am seeing some good action movies here and there. I saw one today. But, you know, we need more. We need more fun. We need more fun, Hollywood. Less preaching, more fun.
SPEAKER 14 :
and i think you hit the nail on the head right which is less preaching more yeah more fun more excitement and like you say some of the ads you’re kind of back to the super bowl conversation right we’ve lost some of that humor that really did well right it wasn’t even edgy i mean some of the ads that we were talking about last week aren’t even that edgy but you know it was like the most interesting man in the world and it was the old spice guy and and even the coors light commercials but like And I know, you know, kind of the, all the rage, right. As you’re kind of going back to what’s working and some people, some people would say, well, that’s, that’s happening too much in the mainstream, right. As a lot of these brands are going, well, you know what, it worked. And I guess, honestly, for the time being, Andy, even if it’s for two years, why don’t we just go back to what works? We don’t have to reinvent the wheel here. You know, like you said, you know, where’s the good Marvel movie to really bring, bring, you know, watchers at movie watchers back out to the, to the big screen.
SPEAKER 15 :
Richard, I don’t think these writers today are a bunch of young, bitter liberals, and they don’t respect what worked before. They look at Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in a movie back then, and they look at that and say, oh, that’s way too tame. That’s boring. That’s not good enough. That’s not giving the message, baby. And they don’t respect what the market likes. They don’t respect the market. If you don’t like your market, you can’t entertain your market. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 14 :
no totally agree with you but then okay let’s bring back spielberg let’s bring back you know i guess i the odyssey i’m kind of intrigued about and that’s um is that not ridley is that ridley scott or i think so that one you know and that could be great or it could be too long we’ll see but it could be great it looks cool and that’s the thing i think it has so much potential right you got matt damon and lots of other things it looks like trying with you and It does look like a great movie. A little bit long, but a great movie. And I’m with you. I guess I’m going to complain and I’ll get off my soapbox. I know we can continue on. But bring back the old guys that know what they’re doing, right? You know, Bruckheimer does, I don’t even know who he did at that point, but he did Top Gun Matt. All right, guys, I know you’re long in the tooth. You may command a pretty penny. But let’s start bringing back, because Andy, and I know this kind of is the downtime for movies, although Valentine’s Day I know kind of pops up I want to get excited to go to the movie. I want to get excited to watch the Super Bowl commercials, and I’m with you. I feel like it was a little bit better this year, but it just is not what it could be, and it’s really disappointing.
SPEAKER 15 :
Exactly.
SPEAKER 14 :
No, I agree.
SPEAKER 09 :

Flesch Law, criminal, civil. Kevin’s got you covered. 303-806-8886.
SPEAKER 27 :
Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence. The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know. Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and were witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth? Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. SPEAKER 15 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, John Rush, together with Richard Rush and Andy Pape. We are doing your favorite love songs. All righty. And that’s beautiful. By the way, I just want everybody to know, every single love song we do today was once sung by Richard outside his wife’s window.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, there we go.
SPEAKER 15 :
After losing an argument.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
Is that true, Richard? Okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
Good to know.
SPEAKER 14 :
Every day, Andy, it seems.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, and here’s the first one. Here we go. By the way, I want Richard to tell me the movie as soon as he knows. Okay. It’s easy. Come on, Richard.
SPEAKER 09 :
Aren’t you romantic? Come on.
SPEAKER 15 :
No, I’m not. Not at all, Andy.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, grief.
SPEAKER 15 :
Give me more Patrick Swayze.
SPEAKER 09 :
Piece of clay.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, yeah, yeah. John, do you and your wife listen to this while working with clay?
SPEAKER 09 :
No, I don’t like clay. It’s dirty. It’s nasty. It’ll get on my shirt.
SPEAKER 15 :
Unchained melody by the Righteous Brothers from Ghost. Richard, you are up.
SPEAKER 14 :
Andy, sometimes I wonder about you. Maybe every day. Maybe every day. Go ahead. Yes. Okay, is this best love songs in movies? Just as a whole, what?
SPEAKER 15 :
No, just as a whole. Just love songs. Whatever, doesn’t matter. Love songs.
SPEAKER 14 :
Gotcha. All right, I’m going to go with the P.S. I Love You, that movie, but that soundtrack, that whole soundtrack is really good. Okay. Gerard Butler. Again, Andy, you talk about, I don’t know if it was a comedy, but romantic movie. They don’t make them like that anymore.
SPEAKER 15 :
Now, women who want a real man want Gerard Butler.
SPEAKER 09 :
That guy’s tough. I’m just saying. He’s a stud.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, yeah, but he’s not one of these chiseled.
SPEAKER 09 :
He’s a stud.
SPEAKER 15 :
He’s not a chiseled Thor type.
SPEAKER 09 :
He’s a real man. He’s a stud. All right. All right, Charlie, make sure Mike fours up. I’ll play just a, I’m not going to play much of this, but see if these guys know this song. Did you get it, Richard?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes, I know it. Enrique Iglesias. There you go. There you go.
SPEAKER 19 :
If I asked you to dance, would you run?
SPEAKER 15 :
How many times did you sing this outside your wife’s window?
SPEAKER 09 :
There you go.
SPEAKER 15 :
That one was before her, Andy.
SPEAKER 09 :
Good job, Richard. Oh! Good job.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, my goodness. Okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right. Got you. Got you. Let’s do our caller that’s waiting. Tom, you’re up. Go ahead, Tom.
SPEAKER 11 :
Hey, guys, first off, I got to tell you, I might have to take your man card away from all of you for this segment.
SPEAKER 15 :
You might have to. You might. Oh, yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER 11 :
Hey, it’s Valentine’s Day.
SPEAKER 15 :
We all lose our man card.
SPEAKER 11 :
There you go. There you go. Hey, listen, there’s a blockbuster movie coming out next year. I just sent a little bit of stuff to John on it. It’s about a Medal of Honor winner named John Chapman of the Air Force. Ron Howard is doing the movie. Adam Driver will be playing John Chapman. Adam Driver was a Marine. I like him. Yeah, and so they wanted to make sure. And the guy was passed over for the Medal of Honor and covered up by the Naval Department because they couldn’t have the Navy SEALs looking bad. But an Air Force combat controller led the way on the battle of Takagar. Yeah. it came to light with the video. The IRR footage came out to show John Chapman. There’s a nine minute footage. I just sent it to take a look at. I’ll do that. Yeah. Kim Munson has interviewed me about this before too, as well. And, and Lori Long Fritz Chapman wrote the book alone at dawn about John’s story and how he should have probably been awarded two medals of honor. And, uh, given politics inside the military, things get covered up. And, uh, But they’re going to write this wrong with a blockbuster movie next year, and I wanted to share that with you guys.
SPEAKER 09 :
Very cool. Awesome. Awesome, John. Cool. Or Tom, I mean. Appreciate that. Thanks, Tom. Yep, that’s very good. Thank you very much. Have a good night, guys. You bet. You too. We appreciate it. All right, Andy, you’re up.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, once again, I’m going to ask you if you know the movie for this song, and it’s a nice romantic comedy. Here we go.
SPEAKER 21 :
Here we go. Strike up the band and make the five lives dance Silver moon sparkling Miss me, I don’t know.
SPEAKER 09 :
Kiss me.
SPEAKER 15 :
Actually, it was in a couple movies.
SPEAKER 09 :
I don’t remember.
SPEAKER 15 :
The one with Drew Barrymore, Never Been Kissed, that was in that one, but it was also in, oh gosh, I think it’s called She’s the One. All right, anyway. You know, old fun movies.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
Richard, have you ever seen that? I mean, wasn’t that in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, too? I feel like.
SPEAKER 14 :
I don’t know. Maybe my wife.
SPEAKER 15 :
You know what? It was in a few movies. Honestly, it was in a few movies. It’s a good song. It’s by Sixpence, None the Richer, Kiss Me. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 14 :
There you go. All right, Andy, I think this was from Bodyguard, right? It is. Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, yes.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, that’s a good one.
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s awesome. I have it, but it would take a while to queue it up.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s right. All right, I’ve got one. See if you guys know who this one is. Here we go. It’ll start. Oh, hang on.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, and then Andy here.
SPEAKER 15 :
Armageddon?
SPEAKER 09 :
Nope. I don’t know the movie. Just know the song.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. Con Air. This is at the end of Con Air.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 09 :
Leon Rimes. Or Leon Rimes, I mean. How do I live?
SPEAKER 15 :
And can we take a break? Because my things, I got to recue them.
SPEAKER 09 :
You’ve got to re-cue your things.
SPEAKER 15 :
I’ve got to re-cue my films.
SPEAKER 09 :
Andy has to re-cue his things for love songs, Richard. Shocking. No kidding.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, well, they’ve all gone back to zero, and it’s evil, and YouTube is evil.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right, we’ll do that. We can go to break. Golden Eagle Financial, a great interview of Al that I should say of late. Listen in. Find Al, klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 03 :
TJ here with KLZ Radio, and again, I’m with Al Smith of Golden Eagle Financial. And some of you may not know that Al Smith has a couple of books out. Al, tell us a little bit about the books that you have for clients and what that informs folks on.
SPEAKER 28 :
Well, the two books are 18 Halls to Retirement, which is about a younger person and an older person who work at the same company they’re playing golf. And the book talks a lot about the younger person asking the older person about all of his preparation he’s made for his retirement. My second book is The Christian Path to Retirement. It’s sort of about how God can guide us toward building our nest egg and also helping build his kingdom as we make that transition from work to retirement.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s awesome. I love the financial connection to Christ because that’s all about our lives. Tell us a little bit about – is that something that folks can go out to Amazon to buy, or do you give that to them?
SPEAKER 28 :
Well, it is on Amazon, and I think it’s $10 or $11 or something. It’s not a long book, but for folks who come into the office – and schedule a meeting with me, I can certainly give them that book for free. I’ll need to be ordering a few more copies for all the enormous influx I’m anticipating after this ad.
SPEAKER 03 :
There you go. We’ll tell folks how to get in touch with you for that meeting and maybe to get their free book.
SPEAKER 28 :
Yeah, you can reach me at 303-744-1128. And the book also has some things that go beyond financial things that can result in a more fulfilling retirement.
SPEAKER 03 :
Very good. And as always, you can find a little bit about the book at klzradio.com slash money. And on there is a form that you can schedule an appointment with Al Smith as well. And he’ll get you in shape and ready for your retirement. Al, thanks so much for joining us today.
SPEAKER 28 :
Well, you’re welcome, TJ. Thanks for having me.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. All right, Andy, take it away.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, let’s see if you can get this band here, John. You’ll probably get it pretty quick. It’s from your era. Here we go.
SPEAKER 09 :
You’re my inspiration. Yep.
SPEAKER 15 :
Who did it? Is that Chicago? It’s Chicago. It’s a good song. I love that song.
SPEAKER 09 :
You love somebody.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, well, you know, it’s a good love song.
SPEAKER 09 :
It is. You’re right. Richard, you’re up. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, let’s see here. Andy. Oh, what’s the… I think it’s Lion King. Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, I think that is Lion King.
SPEAKER 14 :
Very good.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well done, sir. Well done. All right. I have one. See if you guys get this one. All for one, but it was also sung by John Montgomery earlier. So it was like a remake.
SPEAKER 15 :
Excellent.
SPEAKER 09 :
Excellent. There you go. Let’s see what Dan has to say. Dan, you’re next.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, we’ll start with the 50s. Bobby Darin, Dream Lover. Oh, yeah. And then the 1960s, Temptation, My Girl. 70s, 10cc, I’m Not In Love. And then we also had Todd Runkin, who was Hello, It’s Me. Do you remember that one?
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, yeah. I saw him sing it. Yeah.
SPEAKER 07 :
Hello, It’s Me.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes, I admitted to that. Hello, It’s Me.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, and then Toto, I’ll Be Over You. It was an 80s song. It had, oh, shoot, I forget the singer of the Doobies. What was his name? He was in that song. And then, of course, we’ll finish off with Yeah, Michael McDonald. We’ll finish with Whitney Houston. I will always love you.
SPEAKER 09 :
Excellent. Good job. Well done, Dan. Dan, appreciate you very much. All right, Andy, your turn.
SPEAKER 15 :
We are being sappy today. By the way, here’s a movie that no self-respecting man of the species has ever watched, Twilight. And here we go.
SPEAKER 20 :
Have you ever seen Twilight?
SPEAKER 15 :
No, I’ve never seen Twilight. This is by Christina Perri.
SPEAKER 09 :
Is that a vampire movie or something?
SPEAKER 15 :
It’s a vampire movie. This is by Christina Perri. It was immensely popular coming out of that movie. All the girls were swaying to it. Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 14 :
Andy, he will sooner see… Well, he actually sooner watched The Sound of Music through four times than he would ever to watch a Twilight movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
Exactly. And I’m not doing either. I’ve never seen The Sound of Music, the whole thing.
SPEAKER 14 :
I can see that’s not surprising. Real quick, Andy. Rumor, speaking of good films, this just popped up. The rumor is that Joseph Kaczynski, the guy who did F1… He and Bruckheimer, they want to kind of team up and do basically a sequel to that one that teams up. Yeah, I’d heard this. Brad Pitt and Sonny Trickle with Days of Thunder Dad, Tom Cruise and Cole Trickle.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’d be cool.
SPEAKER 14 :
And then they have a backstory. That would be a pretty fun sequel. an entertaining film.
SPEAKER 15 :
I feel like, Hey, I’m up for it. I mean, you know why? Because that’s a group of people who like to make fun movies and we need more fun.
SPEAKER 14 :
There you go. Andy, that, that hits the nail on the head. Tom Cruise. He just likes to make fun movies. Even Brad Pitt to an extent. He just likes to make fun movies. Yeah.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah. I don’t want to change you. I want to entertain you.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
Richard.
SPEAKER 14 :
There you go. Okay. All right. Um, let’s see here. Um, Love Story by Taylor Swift, Andy. We can’t do a whole segment without… You Swifty, you, Richard.
SPEAKER 15 :
You’re such a Swifty.
SPEAKER 09 :
You Swifty.
SPEAKER 15 :
Richard, be honest. How many of her posters do you have up?
SPEAKER 14 :
Used to… Well, not Andy, but used to really like her. Now she’s a little bit, you know, cuckoo.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, she’s… All right, but before I give my song, one of my great friends just said, you know, this isn’t a love song, it’s a divorce song. Another one bites the dust.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, divorce songs, I’m sorry, that’s next week. Sorry.
SPEAKER 09 :
Sorry. That’s next week. Okay, I’ve got one for you. Here we go. If it’ll play.
SPEAKER 12 :
If it’ll play.
SPEAKER 09 :
This came from a listener, by the way.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay. Oh, yeah. By the way, the movie. I don’t know. Karate Kid.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, it is?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yes. I’ll fight for your honor.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, there we go. All righty then.
SPEAKER 15 :
Won’t you fight for your wife’s honor, John?
SPEAKER 09 :
You bet. Sure.
SPEAKER 15 :
You’d hire somebody.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. All right, here. Let’s get Joe. Mick, go out and fight for her. Let’s get Joe. Joe, go ahead.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, I got two. First, I’ll name the song. You name the movie. Take My Breath Away.
SPEAKER 09 :
Top Gun.
SPEAKER 10 :
Top Gun. Top Gun. Here’s one that wasn’t on my list. Can I play 10 seconds of this? This is Willie Nelson. You tell me the movie. Here we go. Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
No clue.
SPEAKER 10 :
I don’t know. What’s the movie? All right, what was the movie? I don’t know. No idea. We’re asking you. Honeysuckle Rose, Diane Cannon. Oh, good movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
Never seen it.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, great movie. Remember Honeysuckle? I think the cast. It’s classic. Yeah, Willie Nelson, Amy Irving. Yeah. It had Emmylou Harris in it, Slim Pickens. I thought it was a great movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, my next song’s from that era, so well done, Joe.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right, good one, Joe.
SPEAKER 15 :
All right, guys.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right, man, appreciate it. Go ahead, Andy.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, one of my favorites, John Denver. Here we go.
SPEAKER 09 :
John Denver? I never think of his Dumb and Dumber when I hear John Denver. John Denver, he’s full of it.
SPEAKER 15 :
Come on. Yeah, we’re trying. This is Valentine’s Day.
SPEAKER 09 :
And I throw Dumb and Dumber in.
SPEAKER 15 :
We’re trying to bring it down. You’re talking Dumb and Dumber.
SPEAKER 09 :
I had to bring Rhino Watch into the conversation.
SPEAKER 15 :
All I can say is this. Did you miss that? Yes, I know. Rhino Watch, Dumb and Dumber. All I can say is this. You know, with Valentine’s Day, so you’re saying there’s a chance. Dumb and Dumber. There’s a chance. It’s a million to one. So you’re saying there’s a chance. Richard, what do you think?
SPEAKER 14 :
You’d be more old. That’s what I’m saying. Shut up.
SPEAKER 15 :
You’re up, young one. Richard, I’m sorry. You’re kind of young. Have you ever heard music?
SPEAKER 14 :
No, it’s a foreign concept, Andy.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, I kind of thought so.
SPEAKER 14 :
Again, we didn’t watch, especially in movies, Andy. They didn’t exist. Shut up. Go ahead. Did we do Titanic?
SPEAKER 09 :
No.
SPEAKER 14 :
No? Like, my heart will go on, you know?
SPEAKER 15 :
I’ve got it. It would take too long to queue it up.
SPEAKER 09 :
For Titanic?
SPEAKER 15 :
You didn’t do… I’ve got it, but it’s in a list of a bunch of them, and it would take me a little time to queue it up, so I can’t. Sorry.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. We got to move. Got to move. Okay, so we got to move. I’ve got one, but it’s not queued up yet, so I’ll wait a minute. Want me to jump ahead? Yeah, go ahead. You’re fine.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, I’m going to do a classic. Here we go.
SPEAKER 09 :
Good one. Elvis. Elvis!
SPEAKER 15 :
Only fools rush in. Okay, Richard, once again, I have to ask. Does your wife scream when you sing? I mean, scream out there and fall and faint out of excitement?
SPEAKER 12 :
For different reasons, Andy. Okay. In terror, in horror. Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
I think Elvis singing that is one of the greatest love songs ever.
SPEAKER 12 :
Go ahead, Richard. Go.
SPEAKER 14 :
We didn’t do Nat King Cole yet, did we?
SPEAKER 05 :
L-O-V-E?
SPEAKER 14 :
No. Classic.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well done, sir.
SPEAKER 09 :
I think I can play this one. I’ve got it queued up. Here we go. Maybe. Are we not on, Charlie?
SPEAKER 12 :
Hello?
SPEAKER 09 :
Why am I not playing? Why is this not on?
SPEAKER 12 :
Andy’s been in the studio too long. He’s really… Rubbing off.
SPEAKER 09 :
I guess so. He doesn’t want to play.
SPEAKER 15 :
Should I do it?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, it’s Lone Star Amazed. I don’t know why it will not play. It’s not playing, but anyways, there we go.
SPEAKER 15 :
I’m sorry. I wanted to hear it. Okay. Well, let’s do a little Michelle Branch. Here we go.
SPEAKER 21 :
I think that you might not be real Since now the water is getting deep I try to wipe the pain away from me Away from me
SPEAKER 15 :
You’ve heard this, right? Mm-hmm. This is what my wife sings to me every night.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, is it?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, the kid’s got a crush on me. I can’t help it.
SPEAKER 09 :
All righty, then.
SPEAKER 15 :
It’s really embarrassing when she does it at the store. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, let’s see. This is from my wife. Oh, Ed Sheeran, Thinking Out Loud. Ooh. Ooh, that’s a good one. Good one. Good one. Great song.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :

SPEAKER 09 :
That one works. Okay, this one came from a listener a thousand years. Christina Perry.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yep, I played that earlier. That’s from… That is from Twilight, too. Yeah, from the vampire movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, okay. Well, let me throw another one out. Sorry, that was from a listener.
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s a good one. Somebody said Thinking Out Loud, right?
SPEAKER 15 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I just did. How about Perfect from Ed Sheeran?
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, that’s another good one. I like Ed Sheeran. Okay, let’s get really sappy and wimpy. All right, here we go. Air Supply.
SPEAKER 09 :
So lost without you.
SPEAKER 18 :
Be honest.
SPEAKER 15 :
You went to all their concerts. No, I did not. Yes, you did. Wearing tie-dye. I’ve got film of you. Anyway, just thought I’d bring that one up. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right. Bleeding Love, Leona Lewis. Ooh, nice.
SPEAKER 09 :
Bleeding Love.
SPEAKER 12 :
Good. It’s a fun one. Guys, pretend like you’re holding up the building behind you.
SPEAKER 15 :
Sorry.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
It started on its own.
SPEAKER 09 :
Couldn’t help it. How about Elton John, your song?
SPEAKER 15 :
Ooh, that’s a good one.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
I like that. Okay, this is from Tarzan and Phil Collins. Here we go. I think it’s a great song. I really do. And, you know, that’s more of a family love, but still, it’s love.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. I agree.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, there you go. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 14 :

SPEAKER 15 :

SPEAKER 09 :
