Fine, thanks. Thanks for having me.
SPEAKER 08 :
I appreciate it. Professor, at the University of South Florida, you recently did a peer-reviewed paper talking about sexuality and culture titled Evolutionary Psychology and the Crisis of Empirical Rigor in Feminist Studies. And you contacted me, and I thought, yep, this would be a great fit for what we are doing. We did some of this already earlier today in the past two hours, so let’s get into it. First of all, talk to us about the paper and what got you to write this in the first place.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, I was working in this area for a long time, and I noticed that in feminist studies that they were ignoring the evolutionary biology and the biological aspects of gender and several other areas, like fatness studies, saying that fat can be healthy when we know that, in general, 99% of the time fat is not healthy. Right. I thought it was time to write a critique showing how they’re ignoring scientific facts or at least whole areas of scientific research and not making statements that weren’t arguing against the science. They were just having their own opinions that weren’t backed up with other evidence. So I thought this was apropos time.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, and by the way, I appreciate it. We do a Health and Wellness on Wednesdays here, each first hour on Wednesdays, where we talk about some of the very things you just mentioned a moment ago, where, yeah, the woke crowd, I guess, Mark, you would say, wants you to think that, oh, you know, body image and all this stuff, you know, as long as you feel positive about yourself and you have, you know, body positivity and so on, which, you know, First and foremost, Mark, I will say this straight up. As somebody that’s been heavy the majority of their life, I work really hard at staying at a desired weight. And I know firsthand the struggles that folks go through in that particular world. And I’m never going to shame somebody for being overweight because I know no one wants to be. I’ll just say that straight. It’s like a smoker. they might say they want to be, but really, Mark, deep down inside, because I was that person, no, you don’t want to be, and you know it’s not healthy at the end of the day, and you would do anything possible to try to get that weight off. So this whole idea that we’re going to now help them feel better about themselves when they know for a fact that they shouldn’t is wrong in and of itself, Mark.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, John, I couldn’t agree with you more. In fact, I’ve feel the same way as you do. We’re all sympathetic towards people who are fighting any kind of addiction, whether it’s food or whatever. And so I would say, yeah, my heart goes out to them. But at the same time, I think that it’s crazy that of feminists telling young students that it’s okay to be fat and it’s healthy, and it’s just wrong.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s a lie. Mark, that in and of itself, which we’ve proven, as you’ve said, scientifically, biologically, reality is, no, that’s not true. That’s a flat-out now lie. There’s so many studies out just in the amount of pounds extra we carry, how many more blood vessels that’s required, the amount of buildup that can happen around your heart, your arteries, and so on. Mark, we know for a fact that’s just not true. It’s a lie.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, another aspect of all this, too, is that I think in general, feminist studies is trying to get us to see men and women as the same. They’ll admit that there are physical differences, but when it comes to the brain, they want us to believe that men and women are the same emotionally and mentally. And we know from, you know, just thousands of studies over the years that men and women are different. Look, men have about 20 times the testosterone level as women. Right. Ten times, sorry. and they have, of course, estrogen levels that are higher than men. So those affect our brain, and they’ve come to us through evolution. Women selected for men with high testosterone in the past, and so we have men today that are high testosterone. I just hate it when I hear this term toxic masculinity. It suggests that all men are bad, whereas there are aspects of you know, of masculinity that are good. I mean, we take care of families, we protect them, we go out and earn the bacon, we hunt, or at least we did in hunter-gatherer society. And I think men need to be appreciated for that. Yes, there is some toxic masculinity. Violence, for example, can be a bad thing. But in general, I think these are things that women have wanted over the evolution of humans.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, and you’re bringing up some great points, and just traveled last week, did that over the Thanksgiving holiday. I’ll talk a little bit more about that even after I’m done with you. And reality, Mark, is you can see in a lot of cases, and maybe I’m more aware of this just because of what I do here on air on a daily basis, but in fact— I was around some folks yesterday as we were traveling, and I asked my wife, okay, in this group of individuals, tell me the alpha males versus the beta males. And any of you out there listening, if you don’t know what a beta male is, just go look it up. It’s not that hard to figure out. But, Mark, it’s not hard, even in public gatherings, in public places, to figure out who’s the alpha male and who’s the beta male. And here’s where I’m going with this. There’s not as many alpha males as there used to be. I agree with that. And that’s a problem, by the way, because that’s not the way it’s supposed to be.
SPEAKER 16 :
Sorry, I didn’t mean to roast you. No, no, no, you’re fine.
SPEAKER 08 :
The point is it’s not supposed to be that. So the question I have for somebody like you that’s, you know, you’re way more into this than I am. I mean, you’re a professor. You teach this stuff. How do we get that back?
SPEAKER 16 :
Boy, I don’t know. You know, right now there are more women in universities than men in terms of faculty. And so I don’t see much hope inside the university. I think men are purposely being not masculine in university settings, perhaps for fear of not getting along with the people in power, which tend to be women. I’m not saying that women in power, that’s bad, but I would like to point out that, you know, this idea that men and women are the same and that men are being terrible because they look for beautiful women to marry, beauty, we found in evolutionary psychology, is actually just a stand-in for health and youth. And so when we say men are looking for beautiful women, we’re really saying men are looking for healthy young women. And the same goes for women. Women are looking for men that earn a lot of money. Well, really what they’re looking for is men that can support their family and them. At least that’s the way it was in hunter-gatherer society. So we’re looking for different things. Men selected, or women selected men for these characteristics, and now we’re being blamed for this patriarchy that they claim exists everywhere, men trying to suppress women. But men, you mentioned it with the alpha and beta males, men don’t compete with women, they compete with each other for women.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right, that’s exactly right, 100%. unfortunately because of lack of of teaching the next generations plural uh the education system well mark i i define this and i go all the way back to uh and i’m sorry i always have to go back to the root of this because i think it’s a lot of what we have going on in the country the root of this is called marxism it entered into america about a hundred years ago It’s gotten larger and larger and larger as time has gone by. It infiltrated every one of our scholastic systems, and you’re proving that by what you’re even saying. And the reality is in Marxism, they don’t want alpha males because that’s a threat to Marxism in and of itself. They want everybody equal. That’s where the whole wokeness then comes into play. I said this earlier. If everybody’s the same and nobody’s greater than the next, that’s exactly what Marxism wants because now you just become a pig in the slop of life and and no one cares about each other.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, yeah, you’re really up on this. I see in the universities third wave feminism. I think first wave and second wave were outstanding. We got equality for women. We’re there now, in my opinion. There is no real gender pay gap. The gender pay gap is actually generated by choice. Exactly. And so we have this amazing thing going on in campus where feminist studies has turned into Marxist studies. And that’s my greatest fear. We’re generating a lot of Marxists in the university system.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 16 :
And I’m not sure that’s good for America, to be honest with you.
SPEAKER 08 :
knowing unfortunately markets been by design we have to reverse that and this is we’re having even conversations along these lines with folks like yourself where collectively you know i’m a colorado you’re in florida but collectively we start putting more of the word out getting people’s awareness of start getting them to where they can look at these things understand it whether they’ve got kids in college or they’re just sitting around you know the a barstool talking to others i mean whatever the case may be anytime they have the opportunity to explain the things you and i are talking about they should And that’s how we make this change.
SPEAKER 16 :
Absolutely. And that’s why I started speaking out. You know, it’s just got to be overwhelming on the campuses. I think men are just silenced to speak up.
SPEAKER 08 :

Well, there are a couple of things that have a 31st deadline that we talk to some of our clients about. If people are thinking about converting part of their traditional IRA to Roth, That needs to be done before December 31st. And we don’t usually wait until the last week in December because the financial companies get really busy. So it’s a good idea to address that in November. And usually by then people have a pretty good idea how much money they have earned and we can guesstimate their tax bracket.

So you’re just basically helping them reach out to figure out what sort of distribution they should get from an investment.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, not so much distribution, but if they’re younger people, they may have a longer term strategy to convert traditional IRA to Roth. And that will add income to their income tax they pay each year. And we usually wait till near the end of the year because by then people know what tax bracket they will be in. But it has to be done before December 31st.

All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. So I have another story to tell you guys all about traveling. Hopefully my wife’s not listening. Because when you hear what I did, you might feel the same way she did. Now, I’m going to give you my reasons behind what I did and why. But you all know I fly Southwest for the majority of flights. Just always have. And by the way, I cannot wait for assigned seating to come. It can’t come soon enough. And the reason they’re doing it is to get rid of all of the low-life pre-boarders. And I’m sorry, there’s really some legitimate pre-boarders out there. But most people are scammers. when it comes to the pre-board. And you guys that are listening, I even get pictures that you guys will send me at times of being at the gate, and these are everybody getting on the plane early. So I’m with you. It is a scam. There is no checks and balances on who gets on the plane early on a pre-board. All you have to simply do is walk up to the counter as you’re checking in and say, I need extra time on the plane boarding. Done. You’re a pre-board. You don’t have to show them any doctor’s note, nothing. Don’t have to walk with a limp, nothing. You don’t have to be in a wheelchair. You just decide, I need on the plane early, and guess what? You’re getting on early. And by the way, I’m all for the legitimate people that want to get on the plane early that have a legitimate problem. Some have claustrophobia. You know, there’s a service animal on the flight yesterday. You know, things along those lines. I get there’s some genuine needs of people to get on the flight early. I’m okay with that. My problem is all of the ones that don’t get on or that get on early that shouldn’t be getting on early. And I’ll take Brad here in a moment. But before I do that, I’ll get you all to think about this. Here’s what I did yesterday. And some of you may agree with my tactics. Some may not. So I am a A-list preferred Southwest flyer. And I do that by flying and points, credit card purchases and so on. And I manage that extremely well. And I even give people tips and tricks on how to do that. Even my clients on how to manage that part of it well. And I do. So I get, you know, companion pass and A-list preferred. And because of A-list preferred, I rarely even have to pay anything extra, even though I get a certain amount of upgrades free to get you in A1 through 15. I’m usually in like 16 to 20 and some always automatically checks in. I’m rarely above 20. Usually I’m in like 16 to 19. Yesterday I was a 19. Now, granted, there were a lot of pre-boards that got on, about 18, and then one through 15. So I go to get on the plane, my wife and I, and I always go first because I’m the one that puts the carry-on up and so on, which is the way you’re supposed to do it, I think. Surprisingly enough, I see lots of couples where she walks on first, and she’s always struggling to get the bag and stuff up while the beta male is doing, I don’t know what, feeding the kid, breastfeeding. I don’t know what he’s doing. Sorry, literally, I don’t know what he’s doing. So I get on, and I walk down about three rows, and there’s a full empty row, only there’s a backpack in the aisle seat, which I’m an aisle guy. I’ve got a small bladder. I get up. I like to stretch my legs, et cetera. I’m an aisle guy. I won’t sit in any other seat except an aisle. It’s just me. If I book a seat, it’s an aisle seat, no matter what. So anyways, I get on, and there’s a backpack sitting in this particular seat. And so I look around. I’m like, who does this backpack belong to? And the gal that’s on the aisle across from the backpack said, oh, that’s mine. I’m saving that. I’m like, no, you’re not. I said, I’m sitting there. I picked the backpack up. I handed it to her. I told my wife to go ahead and get in. I put the bag up, and I sat down. Now, and I basically said something to the effect of we’re not playing those games. I am a 100% against seat saving on Southwest. Now, if you want to save the seat next to you because you’ve got somebody sitting right next to you in the middle seat, for example, which middle seats suck. So, you know, saving one of those, I could care less. Save all the middle seats you want. Big deal. I have no problem with that. If you’ve got a family and you want to save a row for yourself, fine. But you’re not saving prime real estate across the aisle. That’s not happening. Not on my watch. And it didn’t happen yesterday. Now, my wife, she’s like behind me thinking, oh, great. Here we go. So luckily, nothing happened. The gal was kind of, you know, but by the way, as it all turned out, she was saving an aisle seat for her one of two daughters. that ended up sitting next to her in the middle in aisle seat anyways, which I don’t know why you wouldn’t just do that to begin with, given that you’re a family. But she was saving the aisle seat across from her for one daughter. I think she was hoping that the middle seat would be empty, but it was a completely full flight. Somebody was going to sit in that middle seat anyways. I actually did her a favor. Now, some of you are probably thinking, geez, John, you’re a jerk. Well, you know what? Here’s how I look at it. I earned my position to get on that plane when I did. The pre-boarders are freeloading. She was one of those, by the way. So at the end of the day, no, I did exactly what I paid for. And some would say, oh, man, you’re sure entitled. Yep, when I’m paying for it, I absolutely am. So that was my story on Southwest yesterday. Some of you probably would say, geez, John. You are an alpha male. Yep. You know what? I am. I am not a beta male by a long shot. I am an alpha male through and through. And frankly, folks, I am proud of it. And we don’t have enough of alpha males in the country left as far as I’m concerned. And what I did yesterday is an example of… Just that. So I’ll come back to that. Brad, hang tight. I think so, too. I was reading a little bit about that earlier today, and I think because the Democrat is such a AOC wannabe, that’s not playing in her favor, Brad, that I can see.

But how could she be within two points?

Oh, some of that’s the polling and stuff. I would venture to guess that she will win by, or he will win by much more than that, would be my guess.

Yeah, and even Mike Johnson was having a big rally yesterday, and Trump called in, and Trump’s going to address people tonight. So I think that should pull us out for us. But what annoys me about it is that Mark Green decided to resign in the middle of the term when we elect these people. I expect them to finish.

I do, too. By the way, thank you. No different than Marjorie Taylor Greene. I know that happened while I was gone last week as well. I mean, Mark or Brad, I mean, at the end of the day, when somebody like a Marjorie Taylor Greene does what she does, it shows you that she has no commitment to the conservative movement at all, in my opinion.

I agree. Now, another thing is now they’re saying that Habba. Or how about was illegally… Yeah, I read that, too.

They’re going to run that one up the flagpole. Don’t be surprised if that doesn’t go all the way to the Supreme Court.

They’re already saying that. But the person I blame for that for the most is Charles Grassley because he won’t do anything about the blue slip. And like Charlie Kirk said one time, Democrats are out to win. They…

And we’re not.

The Republicans are more concerned about tradition.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right. That’s right. Yeah, they’re out to win. I mean, it’s just this simple, Brad. They’re out to win. We’re not. I’ve been having a text message with some folks today where these are hardcore MAGA people, which, by the way, I love. But the reality, and this was in the comments that I made earlier in the show, talking about how if you’re a Colorado politician, you cannot be tied to the MAGA movement and expect to win because the MAGA movement will defeat you in and of itself. And I’m a MAGA person, Brad. I like what we’ve done. But the reality is you can’t be tied to that as a Colorado politician and expect to win because the folks in the middle find MAGA offensive. I don’t find it offensive, but a lot of folks in the middle do. So in reality, if you’re going to be an electable Colorado politician, you have to move away from that. And the comment that I got back from a listener was, at the end of the day, they’re all going to move away from Trump. All MAGA is going to move away from Trump anyways because Trump’s not MAGA. Which, by the way, Brad, is the biggest bunch of nonsense I’ve ever heard in my entire life. You know, Trump did a lot to get the MAGA movement started and get things rolling. And my comment back to this person was, Jesus Christ himself… couldn’t run the MAGA movement and win at the end of the day, Brad, because these people expect perfection.
SPEAKER 15 :
I agree. So I called up John Thune’s office and I told him what I thought of Charles Grassley. And I also called up Mike Lee’s office and Ted Cruz. They’re both on the same committee as Grassley. And I told him what I thought of Charles Grassley. And I said, if Grassley wants to help the Democrats so bad, why doesn’t he just run as a Democrat? Because Charles Grassley, in my opinion, is playing ball for the other team. He may not… He may not think he is, but he is.
SPEAKER 08 :
And we have a lot of that, unfortunately. I mean, I think even Marjorie Taylor Greene, she thinks she’s really batting 1,000 for the MAGA movement, but really, Brad, at the end of the day, she’s a Jew-hating, anti-Israel wackadoodle that did nothing but hurt our party.
SPEAKER 15 :
Do you think she’ll actually go ahead and resign?
SPEAKER 08 :
Nope, she’ll resign. She’s done.
SPEAKER 15 :
We’ll have another special election, and the money we spent on that special election we could use… to help elect other Republicans in November.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s why I’m telling you that she’s not a true conservative. Much like she says she is, she’s again, she’s a lot like the folks that we have leading the Colorado GOP. These are outrageous individuals that have no concept of reality, how things actually work, how the structure of politics actually works, and at the end of the day, Brad, how you win. They’re clueless just like she is.

I agree, and then they don’t want to get rid of the filibuster, but… If the Democrats ever got in control and they had the numbers, they’d get rid of it in five minutes. So why don’t we just, do you think we should get rid of it or do you think we should keep it?
SPEAKER 08 :
Keep it. It still works to our advantage at times. It just did, as you know.
SPEAKER 15 :
And even if we did get rid of the filibuster, you’d have the Collins or Murkowski’s that would probably still vote with the Democrats.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s exactly right. I mean, the biggest thing that we have to do, Brad, and I keep saying this over and over and over again, is we have to win more. Kind of like we were talking about the Broncos earlier with my son, how the Broncos are kind of on that stage where they’re getting ready for the next level to where instead of just squeaking by… they start winning big. We need that same momentum in our party, and the problem is we don’t have enough like-minded people that know how to win to make that happen. That’s my biggest fear, just like here in Colorado. We’ve got a bunch of people that, they’re hardcore conservatives. I’ll give them a hand for that, Brad. I’ll tell you right, as far as on face value goes, we are lock, stock, and barrel equal when it comes to the things that we believe in, but how we win, we are worlds apart.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, I’ve often said the worst Republican is better Absolutely. He might. Now, that one, of all things, although he’s a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat, much like a lot of the even moderate Democrats are, at the end of the day, if there’s anybody at all that I could see switching over, it would be him. and we could surely use that R, because that would push us to 54.
SPEAKER 08 :
And really quick, Brad, not to interrupt, but I never thought I’d say that about him.
SPEAKER 15 :
Me either. I was for Dr. Oz all the way, and then back in 2000, Bush’s first term, he made that mistake when he pushed that Jim Jeffords too far to the right. I mean, yeah, Jeffords was an extremely liberal Republican, but nonetheless, he was still an R, and that caused us to control the Senate, so… Hopefully the Democrats will make the same mistake and push Fetterman to the Republican Party.
SPEAKER 08 :
They very well could. It’s looking that way more and more. Luckily for Fetterman, he’s one of those guys, sort of like myself, where he doesn’t really care. He’s going to do whatever he wants to do, period, no matter what his party says.
SPEAKER 15 :
I agree. But the problem is we still don’t know how to message. Now, when I’m responding to some of these people on Facebook, the liberals, I don’t block them. I make mention of the fact that Trump has lowered the price of gas and lowered the price of eggs, and you’re giving them something to think about when you tell them that.
SPEAKER 08 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 15 :
But the Republicans as a whole cannot message, and do you think it’s ever going to get any better?
SPEAKER 08 :
I hope it does. I mean, Brad, you know me. I’m always one of those guys where I think there’s always hope. There’s always ways to make change. Even some of the new generation coming in might look at things a little differently and do things differently than what, you know, quote, unquote, the old guard has always done. It’s the old guard that, by the way, doesn’t message for beans. They just expect everybody to understand the same things they do. They just think everybody’s on the same page. And the reality is. They aren’t. It’s far from the truth. And here’s the real answer, Brad. Until we get some actual business people, owners, people like myself that have had to do marketing and have had to go out and round up business and so on, have to message and market correctly is my point. It’s not going to change. We need real businessmen back involved in the GOP sides of things, not just Colorado but everywhere. We don’t have it here in Colorado, and I don’t think we have it much on a national basis either. That’s our problem.
SPEAKER 15 :
So Joe O’Day could have got in. He could have helped move the needle a little.
SPEAKER 08 :
I think Joe could have. I mean, there were some problems with Joe, no doubt. I mean, I wasn’t with him when it came to abortion, even some of his spending end of things, budgetarily speaking. Although, to your point, I would much rather have him than Michael Bennett, and I would have taken that all day long. But we had people in Colorado that didn’t look at it the same way you and I did, that were dead set on making sure that Joe didn’t win.
SPEAKER 15 :
Which is unfortunate. Now, ML and LL passed, unfortunately. Now, next year, the Democrats wanted to go to that progressive income tax. Now, do you think that would pass or fail? Because a lot of people don’t like the rich guy, so they just voted for MM and LL because they don’t like the rich guy.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, and as Andy said, Brad, the way that they couched LL and MM made it look like even the rich guy isn’t going to pay much more anyway, so at the end of the day, let’s just stick it to him. That’s a lot different than a progressive income tax.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, because a lot of people… on the progressive income tax when they realize it’s going to come out of their paycheck and not somebody else’s, we might have a far better chance of defeating that. But I got a CD that’s supposed to expire at the bank this month, and I’m thinking of taking it all out and just putting it in a treasurer bill because I won’t have to pay a state income tax on that.
SPEAKER 08 :
Not a bad idea.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, I’d probably save $300 or $400. Yeah, and the $300 or $400 is $300 or $400, Brad. And that’s less money for Colorado. So that’s about all I have for today. But my prayers are going out to Tennessee.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yep, absolutely.
SPEAKER 15 :
And you’re optimistic?
SPEAKER 08 :
I am. Yeah, I think we’re going to win that one. Yep.
SPEAKER 15 :
And we should be able to hold Marjorie Taylor Green’s district as well.

I would think that one should be fairly easy. But to your point, there’s an expense there, which we don’t really need to incur, but we’re going to.
SPEAKER 15 :
Now, what’s your opinion about the fall election? Do you think we’re going to lose the House, or do you think we can hold it?
SPEAKER 08 :
That one’s going to come down to how quickly we can get somebody in to replace Jerome Powell and get the housing market back on track. If that happens quickly enough and we can get some traction there, we’ll be fine. Is Jerome supposed to resign? His term is up end of April, so we’ll have a new Fed chair by May.
SPEAKER 15 :
And then the interest rates will go lower, which will help.
SPEAKER 08 :
They definitely will. It might even go lower before that because you know Trump’s going to make announcements and do some things to push things a little further along. Jerome’s going to resist that. But the rest of the Fed board is probably looking at the next guy coming in saying, hey, we want to be in the good graces of the next guy coming in. Let’s go ahead and push Jerome to do some things that maybe he wouldn’t want to do. But Jerome’s going to push back because Jerome Powell does not like Donald Trump. He has a D through and through. He wants to make sure that the Democrats, you know, flip some seats and do some things in this in this midterm election, Brad, at the end of the day. And Jerome Powell is on their side. He’s going to do everything he possibly can to make that happen.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, how can we can’t? Wasn’t Trump the one to pick Powell?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 15 :
So do we just not vet him good enough?
SPEAKER 08 :
You know, in Trump’s defense, a guy like Jerome, you know, not having any real political history and not knowing where he stands on things, although I think I could have read through that. I think in the beginning, Trump just thought he’d be a good economic guy and keep things on track. And by the way, that first roll around, he did pretty well. We did very well, economically speaking. But then the Democrats, I think, got a hold of Jerome Powell, and he’s a different person today than he was.
SPEAKER 15 :
And we sure don’t seem to pick attorney generals very good because Sessions was a disaster, but Pam Bondi, she’s just as bad if not worse, isn’t she?
SPEAKER 08 :
No, I still think Sessions was worse. Sessions didn’t do anything and was afraid of his own shadow. At least Pam’s not afraid of her shadow.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, but Pam just loves to spend all her time going on Fox News, and she hasn’t made any major arrests. But you hear so much information on the Internet that, That’s half true. You don’t know what to believe.
SPEAKER 08 :
And I don’t believe anything on the Internet. And that’s where that’s where I’m probably different than a lot of folks. Brad, there’s so much garbage on the Internet. And as I was saying, even with our guest earlier in the three o’clock hour, you know, the reality is at the end of the day, every I has to be dotted. T has to be crossed. We’ve got to make sure that these are open and shut cases. Otherwise, don’t take them to trial. Don’t arrest anybody if you don’t, because otherwise you look stupid.
SPEAKER 15 :
Now, what’s your prediction on the Senate for next November? I think we should hold it, but Do you think we could pick up any seats anywhere, like Michigan perhaps?
SPEAKER 08 :
Honestly, if we even ran a good campaign in Colorado, could we pick up one here? Potentially, but we can’t get over our own infighting. So, yeah, Brad, I think we could do fine. All that’s going to come down to how each state does, you know, how each GOP state is run accordingly and who the chairs are and so on.
SPEAKER 15 :
Now, they say in Ohio that a person that replaced J.D. Vance is up by six points over Sherrod Brown. But in North Carolina, Cooper is ahead of Watley by eight points or six points. But again, a poll is a poll, so who knows?
SPEAKER 08 :
Right, exactly. No, good point. And that’s just like Tennessee. I think it’ll be a bigger spread when it’s all said and done in Tennessee. We’ll see, but I think it’s going to be larger than what they’re saying.
SPEAKER 15 :
What have you heard about this Watley in North Carolina?
SPEAKER 08 :
That one I know nothing about, Brad. Not a thing.
SPEAKER 15 :
I’ve heard he’s not running the best campaign, but again… You don’t know what half the stuff you read on the Internet turns out to be false anyways.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s exactly right.

Hey, one last question about that Bronco game. When the Bronx rubbed 27 to 26, why did Washington go for that two-point conversion instead of trying to kick?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, what my son Richard explained was because they’re 3-8, they really didn’t have anything to lose. They’re not going to the playoffs anyways. If they make it and they win the game, they give a huge upset to the Broncos. So in that particular case, probably was the right call for them.
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s what I was reading years ago about football games. When a team was in playoff contention, they hated playing the teams that were in last place and had nothing to lose because they would try all these tricky plays that could work and could – It costs the good team to lose.
SPEAKER 08 :
Correct. And by the way, Richard even kind of alluded to that earlier, but it’s still the NFL, still the top, top, top, top, top players in the entire world playing on a team that maybe isn’t as good as your team. But keep in mind, these guys are all top professionals being paid very good money to show up. And if they can upset somebody else along the way, will they? They absolutely will, Brad.

And as Vince Lombardi said one time, on any given day, any team can beat the other team.
SPEAKER 08 :

All right, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Okay, one thing I have been following, and I’ve been watching this kind of from the beginning, and I talked about this when some of this was first going on. Please understand where I’m coming from with this. This is me talking as a business owner in regard to this particular story, and it has nothing to do with what these individuals do in this story. This is strictly me looking at it from the business aspect of things, and that is – And I talked about this earlier. Strip club workers in Denver are now legally considered workers who are entitled to protection of the city’s wage and employment laws. A Denver district judge ruled last week. The ruling comes as a part of a lawsuit from several clubs against Denver Labor, a division of the city auditor’s office, which ordered the clubs to pay back millions of dollars in wages to hundreds of employees. And I talked about this when it first came out. And again, I’m talking about it from the business aspect, not from what the businesses do. And the reason why this is such a big deal to me is not because of the particular businesses, but because of the precedence that this sets for a lot of other businesses that are very much like a strip club. So for those of you that don’t know, and I do because I’ve done some research on this and I’ve known some folks in this world, Okay? Strip clubs are typically, not typically, almost all strip clubs are done in a way that the performers are contractors. They, in a lot of cases, set their own hours. They even pay a fee to be there depending upon when their time slot is, might even have a difference in what they’re actually paying and so on and so forth, or receiving depending upon how much of an attraction they are, so on and so forth. No different than a lot of other businesses are, by the way. And the same is true for even some of the folks that work internally, bartending and so on. So at the end of the day, and a lot of these particular performers will work at different clubs, not just the same club. They might work at a particular club two days a week, another club three days a week. You get the drift. So point being is they’re not employees. They’re the farthest thing from an employee that there is. That’s not the way Denver Labor looked at it, and now a district judge in Denver. Keep in mind, this is a Denver district judge. I’m not surprised at all that this went this direction, and this will be appealed, which they need to continue to appeal this. In fact, this is one of these that, frankly, whoever’s behind all of this needs to appeal this all the way to the Supreme Court nationally. if need be because this again will set precedence even for a lot of you listening that own businesses that have contractors so i’m not on the side of the strip clubs because they’re strip clubs i’m on their side because if they lose this going forward it will set precedence and change a lot of things for a lot of other businesses and it’s wrong that’s where i’m coming from now I have no idea what started this audit. Most likely it was either somebody hearing about something or the Denver Labor Department just thought this would be an easy target and there’s lots of back wages we could collect. Keep in mind, Denver’s struggling right now for money. Anytime a city, in this case Denver, is struggling for money, they’re going to go try to find this any way, shape, form they can. Extraction, in other words. They’re going to extract dollars from whatever business they think they can. In this case, it’s these strip clubs. It’s PT Show Club, Centerfold, PT Show Club, Diamond Cabaret, Rick’s Cabaret, and so on. And I don’t know if those are all owned by the same individuals or not. I didn’t go down that path. Don’t care because it’s irrelevant to the story. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter who owns these. Joe Smith could own them. I don’t care. It makes no difference who owns them. The reality is the model that they have used and has been going on nationwide, by the way, it’s not much different than, to my knowledge, and unless somebody can correct me on this, I don’t think this model is much different anywhere in the country. There’s a lot of businesses, especially in the entertainment world, that are run exactly like this, where the workers are their own boss, And they show up on their schedule according to what they want to do, and they get paid accordingly. I’m no different here. I am a contract worker for Crawford Broadcasting. I set my own everything. I am not told what to say. I am not told what to do. I basically have to put on the right kind of product on a daily basis, and at the end of the day, I get paid. That’s how it works. And I would not do it any other way because I won’t work for anybody. I’m not an employee, nor do I want to be. And by the way, I would venture to guess that, by and large, the performers that are inside and even the bartenders and such that are inside of these particular establishments feel the same way I do. They don’t want to be a W-2 employee either because there’s benefits to them being 1099, being a contractor, having their own business, if you would. That’s what, by the way, I keep saying this, and keep listening to what I’m saying. This, again, folks, is another form of Marxism. Despite what some goody two-shoes might think, that all strip clubs should just go away anyways, that’s not the point here. The point is how government is going against these particular individuals, and it’s a form of Marxism. We want you all to be equal. We want you all to be employees, because we can control employees better than we can people that work for themselves. That’s what this is all about, folks. This has nothing to do with them somehow coming along and protecting the little old dancer at the strip club. That’s not what this is about. Trust me when I say that. Has nothing to do with that. This is 100% the extraction of money from these owners because Denver feels like they can. And they’re out to prove a point. Because here’s where Denver’s going with this. Mark my words when I say this. They know that if they can win here and win all the way through the appeal process, they’re going to go after more businesses. Trust me when I say that. They will go after the flooring company that sells carpet and hardwood and so on and hires contractors to come in and actually perform said work. They’ll now be employees as well. And, folks, I can go down the list of a lot of other businesses that are run the exact same way that strip clubs are. The strip clubs are being picked on, and here’s my thought as to why. They’re easy pickings. Because if you’re the holier-than-thou type that hates strip clubs, no matter what side of the aisle you’re on, Democrat, Republican, conservative, whatever, church-going, not, you’re going to all be in the same camp that’s against a strip club, and Denver knows that. So this is easy pickings on the part of Denver because they know that they’re touching a vein for a lot of people that just don’t like that type of entertainment in the first place. Personally, not my type either. But I’m also one of those where, hey, if that’s what you’re doing and that’s your business and it’s legal, then you know what? Have at it. You’re on your own. Doesn’t mean I have to go there and patronize it, but you’re on your own. I’m not going to shut you down. I’m not that person. Now, I know there’s a lot of other Christians and churches and so on that don’t look at it the way I do. Fine. You can think your way and I’ll think my way. But my point with Denver is, and please follow me when I say this, they went down this path because they know that if they can win here again, they’re going to take this to other businesses. And this is an easier win because morally, with all of the people out there that are watching this case, they’re not on the side of the strip club. They’re on the side of the city of Denver. churches, Christians, evangelicals, Catholics, on down the line we go. See, what Denver has done, and by the way, this is very smart on their part, they’ve gone after what they feel like is a big win because it crosses the political divide. That’s why they’ve gone down this path with strip clubs and not picking out some other type of business, by the way. Because as I’ve said, there’s many other businesses that do it exactly the same way that a strip club does, but they’re not a strip club. They’re morally acceptable where a strip club is not morally acceptable. It’s morally unacceptable. Let me say it that way. So believe me in what I’m saying here. This has nothing to do with the fact that they’re strip clubs. This is the simple fact that Denver is trying to set a precedence. And remember, when a precedence gets set, it’ll carry on to other cities and other places. So Denver feels like if they can get a big win here, and it’s not just Denver, by the way, I think this is probably even pushed even higher than that, because if Denver can win here, this will have huge ramifications in a lot of other areas, including a lot of you that own businesses that do the exact same thing. So this is a situation where you should be paying a lot more attention to this than we are. Most aren’t because they already look down upon strip clubs in general. So they don’t want to follow it. And if anything, they want to be on the side of Denver because they think the strip club should just pay up and be done anyways. That’s the wrong way to look at it, folks. You can have other reasons to want to shut the strip club down. This should not be it. This is morally unacceptable for what Denver’s doing because they’re picking on a particular business that they can make an example of so they can go after other businesses afterwards. Trust me when I say that. It’s why we should be paying more attention to this. And by the way, we’re not because I don’t hear anybody on air hardly talk about this.
