HR3 Rush To Reason September 16, 2024 by John Rush
This is Rush To Reason.
You are gonna shut your damn yamper and listen for a change, because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You wanna take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only view to blood.
Let me break this down for you. Life is scary, get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
With your host, John Rush.
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
Get a job first.
You haven’t made everybody equal.
You’ve made them the same and there’s a big difference.
Let me tell you why you’re here.
You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it.
You felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world.
You don’t know what it is, but it’s there.
It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
Are you crazy?
Am I, or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
It’s Rush To Reason, with your host, John Rush. Presented by Hi5 Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
All right, we are back. Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560, hour number three. Time for our Monday mortgage.
Minute, Kurt Rogers joining us now, Affordable Interest Mortgage. Kurt, how are you today?
I’m doing fine, John. How are you? Nice to have you back.
Fine Monday, by the way. It is a fine Monday out.
Yes, it is.
All right, talk to us about rates. The feds are going to meet on Wednesday.
Yeah, we’re going to get a rate drop this week. I firmly believe and I’ve talked about it in the past. I think it’s going to be a half a point on Wednesday.
Okay. I was reading some things this morning in some of the financial publications, journals and so on. And there’s a lot of folks banking on the same thing.
So you may not be far off, Kurt.
Yeah, I think by the end of the year, it’s going to come down a total of one point. We’ve talked about this in the past, mortgage rates have already dropped. Well, with people thinking rates going down, they need to kind of have an idea where that rate needs to be before they need to move forward on a purchase or do a refi.
Because every half a point, it saves you about $160 a month.
My question on that as well is, okay, we know that if the Fed is going to make a move on Wednesday, let’s say, for example, you’re correct, and they do a half a point, but even if it’s a quarter point, the rumor on the street already is that they’re going to go at least three quarters of a point to a point by the end of the year. I gotta believe that if they do this on Wednesday, the mortgage world’s still going to respond and say, okay, here’s round one. Round two and three are probably also coming.
Would they not then also look to the future and do the same thing they’ve done with this one on the front side?
I don’t think that if they drop just a half a point that they’re going to come back in in October, I think is when they meet again and do another half point. I don’t think they want to be that aggressive and they’re that confident on the inflation issue, especially with everything going on.
Okay, so what you’re saying is if that’s the case, okay, so here’s my ultimate question. If the feds do this rate cut and the mortgage world’s already factored that in, will they factor another one in knowing we may get another rate cut by the end of the year or will they just leave it as it is?
No, you’ll start to see that all factor in towards the end of October.
Meaning people need to get in now and get stuff dialed in so they’ve got their packet quote unquote ready to go so when it’s time to pull the trigger, they can.
Yeah, you don’t want to wait. If your credit score is like a 698, you need to be at a 700 or 720. Give yourself the time now so when that rate drops again in the future, you can take advantage of it.
Do the preliminary work because you can get an approval and that approval is good for 90 days, whether it’s a purchase or a refi.
Makes sense. Okay, Haystack Help Radio coming up tomorrow, noon to one. What are you guys going to cover tomorrow?
We’re going to cover a lot of what’s going on here and what people are doing on what a blended rate is and how it works. We’re going to talk about the difference between banks and mortgage companies.
Okay, that’s tomorrow on Haystack Help Radio right here on KLZ. Kurt, as always, I appreciate you, sir.
Thanks, John. Talk to you later.
Have a great night. That’s Kurt Rogers, Affordable Interest Mortgage 7208950500 is Kurt’s number.

This is Rush To Reason on Klz560.
All right, we are back. Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560. Yeah, you know, sometimes Charlie and I just dream a little.
Here’s an article out today of a fairy tale castle that is right outside of Denver. It is now listed for $60 million. It’s Colorado’s trophy home.
It’s about 30 minutes southwest of the city. It took the owners roughly 15 years to complete it. And this thing is like everything you can imagine.
The primary suite, master suite alone, is 2,500 square feet. And this thing is spectacular. Now, is it my style of house?
Probably not. But man alive, is it something to see? So you can check that out and just go Google it and you’ll find it.
I’m not putting that in the notes because it’s not that big of a deal on my end. But one of the larger homes, if it sells for this kind of money, it’ll be one of the larger home sales in Colorado as far as the home itself goes. Comes with 35 acres.
It sits up on its own hillside. This is the part that interested me. 8,500 square foot motor court.
So there you go. So you get your own little hole. Somebody like me that’s a big car guy, you get your whole little 8,500 square foot area to park all your vehicles and do the things that you want to do along those lines.
So yeah, everybody has a chance to dream. So that’s Charlie and I’s little dream world for today, I guess you could say. At any rate, speaking really quick, because we’re going to talk about some of the false claims on Kamala Harris.
Daniel Turnbull will join us here in a moment from Power of the Future. There’s a article out on Breitbart talking about 21 false claims and hoaxes by Kamala Harris. And one of them in particular, her talking about how no one goes in for late term abortions.
Well, there’s a social media person that I watched over the weekend that I think is in the Baltimore area. Don’t quote me on that, but I believe it’s Baltimore. That thought, you know what, I’m just going to test this.
So she called, it’s a younger lady, so she called up an abortion clinic near her, Planned Parenthood, I believe, I don’t know exactly what it was, some kind of abortion clinic, and basically acted like somebody that was in the 34th week saying, hey, things have changed in my world, I no longer have a boyfriend, he’s left me, I’m in dire straits, and I don’t think I want to go ahead and continue on with this pregnancy. What should I do? So they go through the entire process of what it takes to terminate the pregnancy all the way down to exactly how things would work.
And her last thing is, well, it sounds like you guys do this a lot. Oh yes, we do this on a pretty, on a pretty, not daily, but weekly basis, and yes, this happens quite often, and you’ll be in good hands, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Again, dispelling completely the lie that Kamala Harris said about abortion and late-term abortion, which Donald Trump was correct, and she was wrong on.
So just one of the many lies that she continues to tell, and our side needs to continue to call her out on this, and call that side out. Late-term abortions are happening on the left. They happen more often than people realize, and this particular person on social media proved that and showed that most definitely these things are happening, and we have a clinic up in Boulder that does this on a routine basis as well.
So yes, this stuff does in fact happen routinely. Daniel Turner joining us now. Power of the Future.
How are you, Daniel? Welcome back.
Oh, it’s great to be on your program. Thanks for having me back.
All right. Kamala Harris. I was talking a moment ago about some of the things that she said during the debate that were just flat-out lies.
Now she’s also flip-flopping on her EV mandate. Yeah. Not surprised, by the way.
No, not at all. I mean, this is a person who doesn’t have a clear energy policy. She did back in 2019, right?
So we’re catching on all of these promises and commitments she made in 2019. But it’s kind of hard to believe 2019 was a different world, right? It was pre-COVID, it was pre-George Floyd, it was pre-January 6th on October 7th in the Ukraine invasion.
And so in 2019, when she first ran and when everyone was running, they had to invent things to be angry and apoplectic about. And climate change was the easiest one. And you know, where they all ran, we’re so concerned about the climate and Trump doesn’t realize it.
So she made all of these outlandish positions. And now here we are five years later, she doesn’t believe any of them anymore. And it’s just, it’s unfair to do that to the American people, especially when she doesn’t explain why she has reversed her position.
Well, thank you, that was going to be my next question to you is why the reversal? What has she said? And I guess on top of that, what’s her current EV position?
She probably would say that she supports them, but she has said she doesn’t support a mandate. But I don’t know what that means. Then if you don’t support a mandate, why are you subsidizing this industry into the hundreds of millions of dollars?
And we’ve got several states, Colorado included, that have mandates as to how many of our fleet are going to be EVs, California being the leader of that, as you know.
Yeah, and Joe Biden said by 2030, half of all cars in America sold had to be EVs.
Yeah, that ain’t gonna happen.
That’s a pretty specific number.
That ain’t gonna happen.
It’s a pretty specific number and a pretty specific date. And so an honest question for Kamala Harris would be, if your administration said this, how did you get to the number 50%? And how did you choose 2030, right?
I mean, if you’re gonna throw out numbers like that, they have to be based on something. And it shows you all of their mandates are just pulled from thin air.
That’s right. Yeah, we’re five years from that 2030. For those of you that maybe don’t realize, 2025s are already starting to come out.
We drive new vehicles on a regular basis that we just reviewed that last hour, by the way, for those of you listening, we just drove a 2025 here not long ago. So Daniel, 2025s are already starting to roll out because they typically do the fall of that previous year. So the reality is, they’re already rolling out, meaning that we’re five years away from this particular mandate of half car sold being EV.
There’s not a snowball’s chance that’s happening.
No, and EV sales are declining precipitously. And there’s no doubt in 2022, EV numbers exploded. When the…
Generally, the adopters wanted them and bought them, and that’s great.
Yeah, and when the $7,500 tax credit came out, those who wanted an EV bought one. But that’s not everybody. And we buy 18 million cars every year in this country, new cars.
Correct.
And EVs are a very, very small percentage of that. So again, it’s just one example of a really important policy position that she doesn’t have the right to be flippant on. If you’re gonna mandate, whether it’s EVs or gas stoves or gas hot water heaters or any of these things, then you have to explain to the American people why you are forcing this policy upon them without their input either, right?
This was never voted on in Congress. This is just decided at her whim and enforced by a bureaucracy. And the American people, you know, we don’t really like to be dictated to like that.
No, we do not. And for all of you listening, yeah, we sold around, 2023 numbers were million four ish or so. Now keep in mind that included even some light duty truck sales that went to some fleets like the Amazons of the world and so on.
So Daniel, that number for actual passenger cars was probably going to be quite less than that, probably around a million or so cars. That is a far cry from the 50-50, because to be at 50-50, that number would need to be, to your point, somewhere in the eight to nine million mark.
Exactly, and they have given away lots of money to state and local governments to buy these vehicles. And so you do find governor’s offices that have said our new fleet will all be EV, the parks department, fire trucks. And so that’s not exactly a fair number.
By the way, thank you for, I was talking about some of the Amazon end of things, and by the way, they’ve got some mandates as well coming down from the government incentives and so on. But thank you for the reminder because you’re right, there’s a lot of state agencies, city agencies that have said, we’re gonna switch our fleet over, we’re gonna make our police fleet X, we’re gonna make our fire fleet X, we’re gonna make our fire trucks even X. There’s a electric fire truck up in Boulder, which I don’t even wanna know the price tag on, Daniel.
So the reality is we’ve got politics at play that are also skewing those numbers to your point.
Absolutely, and showing you how this number has played fast, as the administration has played fast in this with numbers. Look at their jobs report that had to be revised by over 800,000. I mean, that’s a big revision, right?
So they float around numbers of how many cars are actually sold, how many have to be sold by a certain deadline. And what happens when you have government skew the marketplace as you get chaos?
Yes, right.
And that’s kind of where we are with oil and gas, with our utilities. We have chaos because we have the power of government that is just creating uncertain circumstances.
I’m glad you just brought up the whole fleet thing. I mean, again, I’m a car guy. I watch this stuff pretty closely and I look at the numbers and I look at the mix all the time.
And I’m glad you just reminded me of that because, yeah, these numbers are getting skewed. And for those of you listening, they will probably be skewed off early on, just like the early adopters buying EVs. Because as you know, Daniel, these fleets don’t turn over every single year.
So in some cases, they’ll go out and buy a boatload of EVs one year, may not buy anything for the next two or three or four years, depending upon how things go. Now, also we’ll say this, depending upon how things go, those may be flipped into ice vehicles down the road, depending upon how they’re received.
Exactly. And I am not anti-EV.
I am not either. I own one, as you know. So I am not either.
I own one to do all of the testing and really learn about it and talk about it educationally, where frankly, there’s a lot of folks in media, Daniel, that have no idea on either side of the aisle, how these things work. And I’m not against them at all. I think there are as a certain segment of the population that can get by and use them just fine.
In fact, they work great for certain individuals. Are they for everyone? No.
No, not at all. And when you weigh the cost of, okay, you don’t have to pay for gas, that is true. But when you add on to paying for electricity, you know, they say that your electric will go up between 150 and $300 a month if you have a home charger.
That’s a serious amount of money. Is it offsetting what you would pay for gas? Well, I guess it depends upon where gas prices are.
But our utility prices nationwide are 30% higher. So maybe you’re not having a gas bill, but you are still paying in some way or another. And then there’s the damage, the wear on the tires, they get worn out a lot faster than combustion engine tires, et cetera.
So the administration is trying to make it sound like an EV will solve all of your problems. I don’t think we have a problem, but it doesn’t solve anything. They introduce a whole host of new challenges.
Yeah, I really like what you said a moment ago. We don’t have a problem. I’m not against EVs, no more than I’m against diesel engines, no more than I’m against hydrogen, no more than I’m against…
I’m a car guy, Daniel. I’m for all of those things, because I like the motoring public to have choices and be able to do whatever they want to. But I want the free market dictating it, not Uncle Sam.
Exactly. And the administration and the environment, the left will point to China and say, there is an example of a country that is all in on EVs. And that’s true.
They are leading the world in EV purchases per capita. But also China has an enormous coal supply. They don’t have a domestic oil supply.
That’s right.
So it makes sense for them.
And they control their population where you’re not going to drive like we do here either.
Well, there you go.
Let’s not forget that one caveat.
They have a social credit score. And if you are saying something that they don’t like, maybe your EV doesn’t turn on today.
That’s right.
So I don’t want to look at China as the model of why we should be in…
No. In fact, that’s the last country I want to look at when it comes to transportation, Daniel, because the reality is it’s not a free country. They do limit what you can do.
Shoot, for all we know, they limit the days you drive. I mean, I haven’t talked to anybody there, and good luck on getting somebody to even tell you how that end of things works. Because even if you do, you’re not going to get the right answer.
All they do is spew out propaganda. Yeah, they’re the last country I’m using as an example, Daniel.
Exactly. And what I love about you keep saying that you’re a car guy, is then you also understand, and this is the beauty of this industry, how much the car is tied to our American DNA, right? There’s literature.
There’s Jack Kerouac.
There are rock and roll songs. Getting in your car on the great American road.
It means freedom, Daniel.
Exactly. And we are giving that up a little bit, because right now, you cannot get in your EV and drive across country.
You cannot.
You can do it over months, but it’s not the same as filling up your tank of gas and seeing where the world takes you.
That’s exactly right.
We may get there one day, but we’re not there yet. And forcing us into this future is not gonna make it happen more quickly.
I read something the other day, and it’s very true. Nobody forced gas stations to go in. They popped up all the way back into literally the 20s is when they really started to become more bountiful.
And of course, they exploded after World War II, as you know. But nobody had to force feed those. People wanted to drive more.
They needed more places to fill up. There was a demand there. People met that demand.
On and on we go. I mean, this isn’t that hard when it’s all said and done, Daniel, let the free market do its thing and off you go.
No, and this is the conversation. I’m loving this, by the way, but this is the conversation that we used to have in debates or with our elected officials. You know, something that’s been bothering me for a long time since COVID, coming out of the summer, especially.
Do you remember back in the day during summer was when your elected officials would hold town hall?
That’s right.
And you would go to the Civic Center or the high school gym and your congressman or senator would be there. During the tea party, they became very raucous. Everyone remembers that.
And then during COVID, they said, oh, thank the Lord. We don’t have to do these anymore because of COVID. And they’ve never resurrected that.
If we were able to engage with our elected officials, these are the conversations we should be having. Why are you forcing an EV mandate, Senator Hickenlooper, Senator bennett, if everything you described? But we don’t ever get to have this back and forth, this report.
We just get mandates sent down to us and we’re supposed to comply.
And then the conversations these guys have, as far as I’m concerned, Daniel, are typically from like-minded constituents to where they just keep being fed the same rhetoric, where they think, oh yeah, all my constituents are all for this. Well, you’re not talking to both sides of the aisle. You’re talking to a select group of people that your aides have picked out for you to talk to.
And no, you’re not talking to the average Joe on the street.
Yeah. We don’t even have a presidential town hall debate. And that used to be one of the standard debates.
Again, dating myself, but I’ve been doing this for a while, there used to always be a debate on the economy, a debate on foreign policy, and normally the third debate was a town hall that random people, in theory random, were allowed to ask questions that the candidates did not know.
That’s right.
But we don’t do that anymore, right? We have this hodgepodge.
We sterilize it, Daniel.
Oh, and we don’t get anything resolved.
No, we do not.
The candidates make fun of each other, and we don’t ever have this conversation. And I think if the American people were able to partake in this conversation, they’d realize, ah, I don’t want an EV mandate. I don’t want a gas stove mandate.
I don’t want the Green New Deal, but we don’t have this conversation anymore. And as a result, our democracy, to use their phrase, our democracy is weaker.
I’ll throw one more thing at you that used to happen prior to COVID. Politicians used to come on stations like this and have conversations with hosts, and people would call in and have conversations with them. That doesn’t happen anymore either, Daniel.
No, and that’s unfortunate, because there are a lot of questions we have and a lot of concerns. And we ask these people to represent us in Congress. And if you’re from a rural district like mine, it’s everything from farm and land policy, but it’s the electric grid and it’s schools and it’s all of the above.
And yet the politicians are never asked to or never forced to respond to these numerous questions that the American people have. And we’re all worse off for it.
You are 100 percent correct. All right, how do folks find you, Daniel?

Now, back to Rush To Reason, presented by High Five Plumbing Heating and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
All right, on this next topic, I had mixed emotions on this one. Trump, you know, saw his announcement the other day. He wants to, by the way, it’s a vote getter, but I think it’s more than that after I got to thinking through this, so bear with me here.
And some of you that wanna call in and chime in, feel free to do so, 303-477-5600. So he’s announced a plan to end overtime taxes, so taxes on overtime. Now remember, he was the first one to come out and say no taxes on tips.
And of course, Kamala Harris jumped on that, so it’ll be interesting to see if she jumps on this one or not. But at first, I’m like, wait a minute, time out. We can’t end taxes on everything.
As much as I’d love to, we can’t. We got too much national debt. As much as I would love to not have any taxes whatsoever, and I think they spend money like drunken sailors, and it all needs a revamp, I also feel like people need to pay taxes.
I hate the term fair share, but everybody needs to pay. I also don’t believe in people paying no taxes. I think that’s wrong.
The last set of Trump tax cuts created a lot of non-tax payers. That’s one thing most people on the left don’t understand. They’ll be the first to tell you, oh, the rich need to pay their fair share.
Well, what about you? You’re probably a zero net taxpayer. Why are you getting a free lunch?
Now, as I thought through the whole overtime thing, and again, bear with me here, I thought, well, maybe he’s on to something here. And as an employer myself, I will tell you that, and some of you that are employers know what I mean, and probably what I’m going to say next, there are times where you could get more things done in a week, and you’ve even got some production deadlines and different things you need to try to get done, but you can’t find anybody that wants to do it. And it’s maybe one of those situations where if you could just get it done, you could even make that much more money that particular week, but because nobody wants to work overtime, and you really don’t want to go out and hire a bunch of new people and train them to do said job.
And since in some cases, and I’ve had employees this way, by the time they work the overtime and pay the taxes on the overtime, they’ve made, at the end of the day, their net check is no better. So they almost get de-incentivized to work the overtime. So in a way, I kind of can get where Trump’s coming from here, because by not taxing the overtime, you’re encouraging that person to go ahead and put that extra time in, and it’s a win-win for everybody, including the economy.
Because now things are getting done that wouldn’t have otherwise gotten done. So at first, I was sort of like, okay, geez, Donald, you’re just trying to get more votes. And as I thought through this a little bit, I’m like, okay, well, you know, okay, I’ll give credit where credit’s due.
I see how this would work. And I’m for this. As an employer, I’m for this.
And some of you that are employers or managers even, you know exactly what I’m saying. You’ve got a particular whatever that you’re trying to get done. It’s Wednesday, and you know, you’ve got a deadline of Friday.
And the only way that thing’s gonna get done is if somebody agrees to work some extra hours that week. Because if it doesn’t get work, that job’s not gonna get done. So you’re doing everything you possibly can to figure out how are we going to get these things done?
And how am I gonna make this work? But nobody wants to put any extra time in because by the time they get to whatever timeframe, they’re gonna have their 40 hours in and they don’t wanna do anymore. Because they know that, and it’s not because they’re not hard workers, they just know at the end of the day, there’s no net profit to them as an employee benefit.
Because the tax man cometh and takes all of that extra money basically away in taxes. And I’m not exaggerating by any means in what I’m saying. This really affects people that are on kind of that upper end of the pay scale, that let’s say they’re making $25, $30 an hour, they work overtime, it’s an extra $15 an hour.
So a $30 an hour guy is now making $45 an hour, in some cases puts them in a different tax bracket, quote unquote. And at the end of the day, by the time they get their check, they made no more take home money, maybe a little more, but not enough to justify all of the extra work they had to go pour in to make that happen. So they typically will tell the manager, yeah, no, I’m not doing that.
I don’t, you know, I’m not mandated. I don’t want to. Well, in this particular case, that over time wouldn’t be taxed.
You’re now incentivizing that particular individual to work that extra five, ten, whatever hours it is that week, knowing that that money they’re going to make is coming right into their paycheck, not taxed at all. Now, all of a sudden, wow, okay, this is worth doing. We’ll help Bill get this particular job done by the end of the week, and that helps us make our quotas, and on and on we go.
And I can give all sorts of examples in a lot of industries where this would be this way, and again, I’ll give credit where credit’s due. At first, I thought, oh, this is just a vote getter. Well, maybe it is, and if you’re an employer, you need to be looking at this the way that I am, because your productivity inside of your business will go up, and no, I’m not one of those that believe that if you work over 40 hours, you’re not productive any longer.
That’s total BS. That’s a hogwash. Sorry.
Hogwash. I do believe there’s a threshold for some people that if you get over that, you’re no longer productive, but it ain’t 40 hours. And really quick, Kamala Harris, the unions didn’t come up with the 40-hour work week, like you said last week.
That was Henry Ford’s invention. She was saying last week that, you like a 40-hour work week, thank a union. If you like this, thank a union.
Every single thing she said was actually invented and put into place by Henry Ford, who hated unions, fought against them. I mean, fought against them with guns. So, she has no idea, once again, she’s talking out of both sides of her mouth and has no idea what she’s talking about.
John and Cheyenne, you’re next.
Hey, is it coming out of both sides of her mouth or another hole?
Um, yeah. Yeah, good answer.
I’ll give you a prime example, John, of somebody who gets screwed on over time. And the Exo lineman who is out there working 516 hour days to get everybody back on after a storm.
Yep.
His overtime. I know the lineman that I’ve worked with in the past, unless it’s an emergency day, a lot of times they’ll say no, because it’s not worth it.
Yeah.
But like, it’s in their contract that if there’s a major outage, you don’t have a choice, you got to come to work. But those guys, prime example is down around Houston when they had that big storm and floods. Those guys worked like 90, 100 hours a week.
And the government took most of everything after 40.
Yeah, that’s right. In the past, John, I’ve had different employees, technicians, etc. where you look at a particular paycheck and the extra money that would have been there.
And at the end of the day, it’s like, you know, I didn’t make any more money for all the extra work that I made last week. All we did was pay more in taxes. I didn’t gain anything when that was all said and done.
And I’m like, yeah, I’m sorry. I don’t control that end of it.
Yeah, but then that’s the guy that two weeks or now when you need him to help you out, he’s not as willing.
And I can’t say as I blame them. I mean, everybody works for a paycheck. That’s why they’re there.
You know, they’ve sold their time to their employer for X amount per hour and I get it. And at some point where there’s no more net benefit to you to give that time, why would you?
Exactly. Same thing when Trump came out, I think it was two weeks ago, no tax on social security, which up until sometime during the Reagan in a tax on social security and they added it. And you know who was one of the co-sponsors of that bill in the Senate?
I don’t remember.
Joe Biden.
Oh, jeez. Why does that not shock me?
Well, he never met a bill where he could get more government money to waste that he didn’t like.
No, again, John, at first, I kind of thought, oh, jeez, everybody needs to pay some. I don’t understand where Trump’s coming from. And then I thought through this a little more, and I’m like, wait a minute, time out.
Let me back up for a moment. Let me put my employer hat on, which is always on, by the way, but let me really look at this from that side of things. And I’m like, jeez, this is actually sort of genius, if you would, because this will encourage people to do things that they wouldn’t otherwise do.
This makes companies more productive without having to go out and hire a bunch of people, which, by the way, they may not even need because this could be very seasonal. Might be for a few weeks or even a month. It might be something where, you know, I can’t go out and hire a full-time person, but it will make our company that much more productive and put more money into the economy, by the way, at the end of the day.
Why not? I’m like, yeah, this is a great idea.
When I worked back in Brooklyn, when I started with the utility and worked in the call center, which is where I started, there’d be times where they were given four hours over time every day. They’d be like, we’re short and there’d be a hundred calls waiting to be answered. And you know, if you’re on hold, you don’t like to wait.
So they wanted everybody. And I was working a evening shift because a lot of people like to call in the evening. So I was working two to 10 and they were bringing me in every day at 11 o’clock.
Got it.
Come in at 11, we’ll pay. And the money was nice because I was younger and needed the money and there was extra money. But when you think about how much the government took of that money, it’s huge.
That’s why we need to get rid of income tax and go to the flat tax or the fair tax.
Just go to consumption tax all together and be done with it, absolutely. Fair tax, yeah, exactly.
You know, national sales tax, whatever. But only with the constitutional amendment. I always say that because you can’t leave the income tax on the books and don’t think that some administration down the line is going to buy it.
That’s right. No, absolutely.
It will come back because you can’t trust the politician.
Absolutely. Great point. John, thank you.
Great point. I’m going to take a break. Paul, hang tight.

All right, Flesh Law, Kevin Flesh, make sure that if you’ve got any kind of illegal question, civil criminal, Kevin is your guy, your attorney, 303-806-8886.
Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesh on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence.
The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know.
Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and we’re witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth?
Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. Call now for a free consultation, 303-806-8886.

Back to Rush To Reason.
All right, we are back. Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560. You had another caller that was calling in about overtime.
Lines are still open. When we got time, if you want to call in, be my guest, 303-477-5600. And lots of text messages.
This topic hit a nerve. Thank you for all the text messages, by the way. A lot of you said exactly what I said.
But yeah, either you yourself or as an employer, you’ve had the exact same thing happen to where by the time it was all said and done, that person working those extra 10 or 15 hours that week and getting a nice big fat gross paycheck didn’t net any more or very little when it was all said and done. And believe me, these are things that Trump as an employer would know. Kamala Harris, I doubt she, well, I know this, she’s never written a payroll check her entire life.
She has the foggiest idea of what being a pay, you know, what being an employer is all about. Which, as a side note, when you’re debating people in public about, should it be Donald Trump, should it be Kamala Harris, shouldn’t that come into play at some point? Wouldn’t you rather have somebody running the country that’s actually written a payroll check and understands how that works versus a quote unquote career politician?
In fact, I’ll just say it right now, I always hate ads that say so-and-so, so-and-so spent her, his life fighting for you. Actually, that’s not a advertisement that I wanna see, by the way. That means you’ve been in politics far too long as far as I’m concerned.
Paul in Wyoming, you’re next.
Hey, how are you doing?
Good, Paul.
Hey, I’m just wondering if you got to work overtime and you didn’t get taxed for it, what’s that gonna do to your living for it at the end of the year? I mean, you made more money when you paid less taxes and then you’re gonna be in a different tax bracket. You made $50,000 a year and you worked $15,000 worth of overtime, that put you to $65,000.
Well, according to Trump, you’re not gonna get taxed on that $15,000 of overtime. That’s his whole point. You won’t owe tax on that.
That’ll be exempt.
How will they know? I mean, how will the IRS know?
On your W-2, if you’re a W-2 employee, Paul, the wages are lined out. It says right on there. Here’s how much your regular wages were.
Here’s how much your overtime wages were.
Okay, I see how it goes.
Yeah, I mean, it’ll be very specific. And I’m guessing on the tax form, that’ll be something the IRS will… If he ends up doing this and it’s something that gets done and gets handled down the road, I’m guessing there’ll be, you know, W-2 non-overtime wages is the way that’ll be listed.
Okay, because it just seems like to me that if you made $15,000 more that year, it could put your gross, you know…
No, no, and again, Trump and the IRS ought to figure out how that works, but I’m guessing you’ll have… It’ll be a different description of wages than… It won’t just be gross wages, it’ll be gross non-overtime wages.
That’s too American, man.
I hear you. Well, and again, I think this is a really great idea on his part. He’s got to…
This is one thing I was going to say a few minutes ago, though. He and or somebody on his team better explain this the way that I just did in the last segment or nobody’s going to get why it’s an advantage.
Right, okay.
They’re going to have to do a really good job of explaining this, especially on how economically this benefits the country, because trust me, Paul, there’ll be some folks out there that won’t understand this.
Yep, I’m not, and it’s like you said before, Parrish is trying to steal his no-tax-one tip saying, what do you want to bet me? She does try to steal this one too.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all, Paul. It would not surprise me. Appreciate your call, brother.
Have a great rest of your day. No, he made a great point, and that’s where Trump and his allies, and us even in the media that are a part of him and his allies, are going to have to do a good job of explaining what this means and how this works. So yeah, in Paul’s case, you make $50,000 a year.
You make another $15,000 in overtime, meaning you now made $65,000. How in the world at the end of the year are you not going to owe more in taxes? Because the overtime taxes will be, according to Donald Trump, would be exempt, just like that worker waiting tables that may have made $5,000, let’s say, in tips or $10,000 in tips.
Those would be exempt as well. This is another way, by the way, to help generate more money back in the economy. Here’s my fear.
We suck at messaging. We are going to have to do a really good job on our end of things of messaging why this would be advantageous. Some people will get it right off the bat.
Oh yeah, I get this. This makes total sense. Others will struggle and say, well wait a minute, how is this really beneficial at the end of the day?
And then of course, you’re going to have the left coming out saying, oh, this just means that employers will take advantage of their employees now. This just means they won’t be home as much as they used to be. People, there are more than enough time in the week to spend with your family and still put in 50 hours at work or even 60 hours at work.
More than enough time. Trust me, more than enough time. There are hundreds of hours in the week.
Most people could work two 40 hour a week jobs and still have plenty of recreation and family time. Believe me, I’ve done it most of my adult life. Most of my adult life.
So those that think you can’t work more than 40 hours and have a quality of life have no idea what they’re talking about. And frankly, I’ll just say it straight up and are lazy. Sorry, I’ll just say it.
I know I speak my mind all the time. I get in trouble for it. But if you don’t work more than 40 hours a week, and you don’t have the, let me say it this way, if you have the opportunity and don’t, you’re lazy.
Sorry, you’re lazy. If you’ve got the opportunity to work more than 40 hours and you’re not doing it and you’re not trying to better yourself, shame on you. That’s on you.
Don’t be blaming anybody else for the position that you’re in. That’s what lefties do, by the way. Blame someone else for their condition when there’s opportunity in front of them to use and they don’t.
Now, if you’re comfortable and you’ve got the right lifestyle and you’re okay with working 40 hours a week and you’ve got the opportunity to work more but you don’t need to, you know what, more power to you. That’s a different situation. My point is, I can name a lot of people that are struggling paycheck to paycheck to paycheck that have the ability to do more that don’t.
That’s the stuff that drives me crazy. You can work more, but you choose not to and yet you want what everyone else has. That’s what the left does.
That’s Kamala Harris saying, everybody should have equal outcome. No, they shouldn’t, because not everybody puts in equal effort. That’s my problem with her whole equal outcome end of things.
She forgets that not everybody puts in equal effort. And those that put in more effort deserve more. Those that put in less effort deserve less.
Why the left can’t fit, well, they do figure this out. It’s called Marxism and that’s their way of destroying the country. Let’s make everything equal at the end of the day.
Equal outcome for everybody. That makes everything hunky dory, kumbaya, off we go. No, that makes for a very miserable country when it’s all said and done.
Yeah, it makes it joy. That’s right, Charlie, joy. Yeah, no, it’s not joyful when they’re all said and done.
It’s called misery. All right, vector windows and doors, eight windows or more, including doors, by the way. He’ll include that into that number, get you free installation on that and a 40% discount.

All right, that’s it for today. Hope you guys have a great rest of your evening. Tomorrow, Andy and I will be with you.
We’re going to talk a little bit about some of the local politics going on, the GOP, the lack of leadership there, where are we headed nationally, what should Donald Trump do? Should he do another debate? I’ve got a special guest, actually, that will join us along those lines as well.
Again, bottom line, we need Trump elected. Do everything you possibly can to make sure that he does get elected. And whatever you need to do in your family, circle of friends, neighbors, et cetera, do whatever you have to, and mention some of the things that I talked about today.
We’ll be back tomorrow, Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560.
