And we are back on Rush to Reason. I am not John Rush. However, I’m maybe the closest thing to him. Richard Rush, his son, in with Andy Pate. And we are here, Andy, for our Rush to Reason, Rush to Chaos, as you would say, 2026 NFL Mock Draft.
SPEAKER 06 :
This is going to be the most chaotic NFL draft we have probably seen in, well, I’d say half a dozen years.
SPEAKER 13 :
And again, folks, whether it’s trades or just simple players going in different spots than what’s predicted. Right, Andy? It’s not just one thing that kind of makes… It’s kind of a combination of everything that makes this draft a little bit wild and crazy. We’ve had a few surprises in ours so far. And we’ll see. We will post this or I’ll send this to my dad. I’ll kind of send our list, Andy, and we’ll see how accurate we are. And again, I guess I’m… Not as much teams because teams move around, teams trade, and it’s really hard to predict. Spots, right? And if we can get exact spots and if we can get, I’ll be honest, Andy, even within like one or two spots of where a guy goes, I feel pretty good with that. Let me tell you a couple that I think were off.
SPEAKER 06 :
Go for it. I just can’t see Caleb Downs falling to 10. Okay. And that’s not me saying I know where he’d go. I have no idea where he’s going to go. I just don’t see him lasting until 10. Honestly, I don’t see Denzel Boston being the guy at 16, even though I took him. I just didn’t like the options. I could see the Jets actually trading down there. Most of everything else we took, I can see all of them.
SPEAKER 13 :
And that’s, to me, Andy, what makes this draft so chaotic is you can kind of see any situation happening. Yeah, it’s just weird. There’s just not a singular number of outcomes.
SPEAKER 06 :
The next three picks are easy. Go.
SPEAKER 13 :
All right, we’re going to jump right in. I am up, pick number 17, the Lions, who had kind of an uncharacteristic down year last year, whether it be injuries, kind of coming back to reality. I think they’re back up this year, much to the undelight of you and your Packers. But Andy, this May, next to Fernando Mendoza. at least as far as position goes. I agree. Maybe the easiest pick in the draft. Maybe this one and the next pick, because I think maybe you and I are on the same page with that one. The Lions are going to take a tackle here. There’s a couple available. To me, Andy, there’s one that, especially if you’re Dan Campbell and the Lions, I think you’re going to go after, and that is Caden Proctor, offensive tackle out of Alabama. Agreed. This guy is a mountain. Literally.
SPEAKER 06 :
He was 380 until he lost some weight.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yes, he was 380, and he’s strong, and he can move. Remember when they threw him the ball? Yep. And he’s actually really athletic.
SPEAKER 06 :
This is one of the few guys that you can put on a football field with all those huge men, and yet he is frightening.
SPEAKER 13 :
The only thing I would say, Andy, is I think he does have to work on, well, I think he’s got to work on some technique and obviously he’s got to stay healthy. And so that’s my biggest downsides to him. But outside of that, I think he’s going to be, he has a chance to be really freakishly good and kind of take over for the Lions and give them someone to protect old Jared Goff for the next number of years.
SPEAKER 11 :
I totally agree.
SPEAKER 13 :
Andy, another NFC North team, maybe your least favorite? They’re all the same. They’re all the same. I’m with you, too. Although my least favorite right now is the Chiefs, but anyway, that’s a different conversation.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s going to change. They’re getting too easy. Look, they’re bad. I think the Chiefs are going to be bad for a number of years.
SPEAKER 13 :
I love it, Andy, and I’ll keep making them bad, so we’ll just keep it at that. All right, you’re up, Andy. Minnesota Vikings on the clock. I know where I would go, but let’s see if you… Oh, it’s easy. Dylan Tienemann. Oh, man, this guy.
SPEAKER 06 :
And this is a safety out of Oregon. He’s a physical freak, and I mean a freak show, okay? This guy is lightning.
SPEAKER 13 :
He’s white, and he ran. White lightning. Yes, he’s white lightning. He’s white, and he ran a 4-3. Or did he? A 4-4?
SPEAKER 06 :
He ran in the 4-3s. And he’s not tiny. No, he’s not tiny. He’s got decent size. But here’s the thing. So you think, oh, well, then he’s going to be stiff, right? He’s that big and fast. He’ll be stiff. Nope, he can play football. This guy is actually somebody who could be taken by Dallas at 12. It is possible. I don’t think so. It’s a reach at 12, but he could be taken there.
SPEAKER 13 :
Honestly, Andy, he fits the Vikings profile to a tee. They just had Harrison Smith, I think, kind of officially retire, and this guy literally is a bigger, faster, stronger version of Harrison Smith.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, he is. Over the last decade, Harrison Smith, if you average out the years, was the best safety in football. He was really good. Okay, and they’re about to replace him with Dylan Tieneman. I think this is an easy pick, and I think the next one is just as easy. You are up at No. 19 with the Carolina Panthers. Interesting.
SPEAKER 13 :
I don’t know if I’m going to fall in the same direction as you.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you going to surprise me?
SPEAKER 13 :
I may surprise you. I’m going to go with the skill guy here. Okay, that’s what I would do. Okay, but maybe not the skill guy. We were talking about him before. I personally would go Omar Cooper here. Oh, I would take Sadiq. Oh, interesting. Okay, I can see that too. I guess if he… Oh, I did not realize he was still available, Andy. Yes, he is. I would take Kenyon Sadiq. Now you’re making me think.
SPEAKER 06 :
Honestly, I was going to go with Concepcion here. Look, look, I like all three of them. I like Cooper. I like Concepcion. I like Sadiq. But I think Sadiq is irresistible here for the Carolina Panthers.
SPEAKER 13 :
You know what? I was going to go with Concepcion, but the fact that Sadiq is still sitting there, I don’t think he’s going to – well – Yeah, I actually like that. So I’m going to change it. I was going to go with Concepcion, Andy. I’m going to go with Kenyon Sadiq.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because you think Sadiq is going to 14-2 Baltimore. Correct.
SPEAKER 13 :
I did not anticipate him being here. I took the guard. Yes, you did. I ate my vegetables. Well, you ate your vegetables, and now as a result, the Carolina Panthers fans are going to be ecstatic because they get a guy who, for Bryce Young, Andy, who came on last year after being benched for Andy Dalton, Came on and I think he played really well and obviously got the Panthers to the playoffs.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, Sadiq is one of these rare guys, a freak, who can play. He’s just like Thienemann. By the way, that’s what I want to see. I want to see those two teams play. I want to see Carolina against Minnesota, and Sadiq is going over the middle against Thienemann.
SPEAKER 13 :
Okay, I like it.
SPEAKER 06 :
That would be so good.
SPEAKER 13 :
All right, Andy, you are up with the Cowboys’ second pick. And now this pick, Andy, it just so happens to be, would be the pick that your Packers would have had they kept it and not traded for Micah Parsons. So you’re kind of making the Packers pick, but you’re making it for a different team.
SPEAKER 06 :
Exactly, and I am taking Keldrick Falk.
SPEAKER 13 :
Okay, I like that.
SPEAKER 06 :
The edge out of Auburn. He’s big. He is fast. He’s a little bit stiff. Has to work a little on his technique, but let me tell you something. He’s a hardworking kid. He will work on his technique. He’s another freak show. I’m not going to say he’s a freak who can totally play like Sadiq and Thieneman yet, but he can get there and probably get there pretty quickly. What do you think?
SPEAKER 13 :
I was going to say, I like it. Again, he’s not quite that way, but I think, I mean, he’s 6’6″, 275, 276. Big boy. He’s a big boy. And he can move. And that’s the thing is he is a, he’s not your typical edge that we think of, you know, Arvel Reese and some of these other guys that we talked about. He’s more of your 3’4″, actual end kind of guy. He will shut down the run, and he can also bring some heat. And I was going to say that. And for the Cowboys, they need that. They do. And they’re kind of going back to what made them really good when they had DeMarcus Lawrence and Parsons, right, is you need some of that pressure, and they need some of that. Okay. Andy, we are now to the Steelers. The Steel City is hosting the draft. Yes. Pittsburgh, no one’s going there except for the draft. No, I didn’t say that. Andy, they need a few things. First question I have for you, does Aaron Rodgers come back to play quarterback?
SPEAKER 06 :
I think he does. One more year.
SPEAKER 13 :
One more year. Okay. He comes back. Mike McCarthy is the new head coach. Comes back to play for McCarthy, and they give it one more go.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s what I predict, yeah. What do you think?
SPEAKER 13 :
I think so, too. But, well, because here’s the deal. He’s either coming back or he’s retiring because I don’t think any other team is going to take him. And so as a result of that, I think that the Steelers, well, this is going to be a Steelers pick, Andy. They’re either going to take an offensive lineman or they’re going to take a safety. Yeah. And to me, at this point, I’ve got – well, I’m going to go with Monroe feeling offensive tackle out of Georgia here. Okay. Because I know there’s a safety – what’s his name?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, I mean, look, I’ve got Monroe feeling. I’ve got him going on the next pick. There’s two guys who are the same game.
SPEAKER 13 :
I do like the safety. The kid, actually, he was going to be my Broncos pick if we didn’t take a wide receiver. Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. I think he’s a really good player out at Toledo. He is. And I think he would fit what the Steelers are going to do. But I think that the Steelers are going to go back to, again, go to their roots here.

Yep, meat. But they’re going to eat their veggies, as you said, Andy, right?

Andy, this is our Rush to Chaos, right? No longer Rush to Reason. We are Rush to Chaos for our 2026 NFL Draft preview. Oh, yeah. And we are almost way, Andy. We’re probably two-thirds of the way through the first round here. This is kind of getting into, I don’t want to say the nitty-gritty, but some of these are… These are crapshoots. These are crapshoots. And here’s the deal, Andy. Some of these picks are not so far-fetched, but this is kind of where the Broncos usually thrive is a guy falls because of injury or maybe because of fit. A team doesn’t feel like he’s fit. And so I think this is where you see some surprises because maybe a guy is higher on a team’s board, but they think he’s gone, but he’s still available when they pick. And maybe they don’t even need the player, but they still jump at the opportunity. Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, you just took Freeling away from the Chargers. You did that on purpose. I had to, Andy. Had to. You hate the Chargers, so you took Freeling. So you know what? I’m going to divert. The Chargers need – look, you could say they need offensive tackle. Both of their great tackles were out all of last year.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
They’re coming back. They’re healthy now. But, wow, if one of them goes down again, their quarterback – again, I said this – I thought he easily played the best quarterback of any quarterback in the league, given what he was dealing with. Yep. He was under fire. He was under siege. He was in hell. Okay. And he did a great job. I think you need a tackle for him, but you know what? I’m not going to do that because you just took the ones that I would have taken. I’m going to take TJ Parker. He is an edge player out of Clemson. He’s big. He’s 263 fast. He runs a sub four seven. He’s got long arms. Okay. He’s the whole package. He’s the whole package. Now, he’s going to have to work a little bit getting off blocks. And with his energy a little bit, he’s more a little bit looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. But I think he’ll play like Tarzan. He’s a good player for them. What do you think?
SPEAKER 13 :
I agree with you. And we kind of talked about this a little bit in the break that there’s a and I think, again, a wide range. I’ll be honest, Andy, that the system that we’re using right now to kind of keep track of this has him down as the 43rd player available. And this sort of goes back to what you and I were talking about earlier, which is the rankings, especially we’re getting to the end of the first round, Andy, are so wide ranging that you’re really drafting a player at this point that probably is a match. Well, it has to be a match, but it could be, you know, a player could equally go at pick 22. That could go at pick 42 or 52.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. What would you think? Let’s keep talking about it for a moment here. What would you think about Lomu, the tackle?
SPEAKER 13 :
I like that he’s still available.
SPEAKER 06 :
He’s a better player, I would say.
SPEAKER 13 :
He absolutely is a better player. I think that they’re just going to put too much value on the fact that their tackles are coming back. I won’t think they reach.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because this is one of those classic situations where, and we’ll start running through some of the next ones, but this is one of those classic situations. Do you go best player available or do you go greatest need? If you go greatest need, you take TJ Parker. If you go best player available, you’re probably going to take Lomu.
SPEAKER 13 :
And it goes back to, I think, what we said, which is the best player available at a position of need. And so that’s why I like your Parker pick. Okay. So I go with there. All right, Andy, I am now on the clock with the Eagles. We mentioned trades. I don’t know if I see a trade here or if I have a trade right now. But if I am the Eagles, maybe you look to move back if someone wants to maybe try to jump in front of the Bears or do some maneuvering there. But with it being as it is right now, Andy… I could see this as they don’t need him, but I could see this as a landing spot for Jermon McCoy, the cornerback out of Texas, who I think is a really high-skilled player, but he’s got some injuries going on. This, to me, more likely is they’ve got an aging offensive line, and I think they take this opportunity to add to that and replace it. And like you say, Lomo, you were just talking about him falling. I think it stops.
SPEAKER 06 :
I agree with you. However, let’s throw a wild card in. What about Omar Cooper?
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, with the idea that they’re going to be getting rid of… Exactly.
SPEAKER 06 :
They’re going to be trading their top wide receiver, it looks like. They’re going to trade him away. Now, if they do that, Cooper is a real nice fit. What do you think? I like the Lomu pick a lot. Don’t get me wrong. I like the pick.
SPEAKER 13 :
You know what? I’m going to go with this. I think you’re three for three, though, in convincing me otherwise. I actually like Cooper there. Oh, you like Cooper? And I honestly actually think he fits the Eagles and kind of what they’re looking for because he’s actually kind of the anti-AJ Brown, to be honest with you. Oh, totally.
SPEAKER 11 :
Great kid.
SPEAKER 13 :
Just body type. Not a jerk. Body type mentality, all the different things. So I’m with you there. I’ll go Omar Cooper. Junior out of Indiana. All right, Andy, that leads you to the Browns. Pick number 24, their second in the first round. I could actually see them moving off of this and getting more picks, but we’ll see where you go.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, I could see them moving off, but it would take too long to figure out a draft. I kind of want to speed it up a little bit here. My goodness. The problem is we already had them taking an offensive lineman, and Lomu’s sitting there. I like it. But I mean, we already had them.
SPEAKER 13 :
I was going to say, I like it if you hadn’t taken the offensive lineman before.
SPEAKER 06 :
Then I would take Lomu. Since we’ve already taken Lomu, their next thing they need is a wide receiver. Concepcion? And Concepcion is sitting there, so I would take Concepcion. What do you think? How far do we want Lomu to fall?
SPEAKER 13 :
It goes back to Andy, some fit, right? Yeah, it does. Some of the fit that we’ve been talking about is I just don’t know if that fit is there.
SPEAKER 06 :
So you would say Concepcion too?
SPEAKER 13 :
Yeah, I would say Concepcion because, well, again, I think that they already addressed offensive line. And like you said, they do need a receiver. And I think Shredder Sanders is happy.
SPEAKER 06 :
I will say this. If they get a wide out with their first pick, this is Lowman. But they didn’t, so we’ll go Concepcion. Perfect. All right.
SPEAKER 13 :
I like it. All right. I’m up with the Bears here, Andy. Easy. Oh, easy. I mean, I think we’re probably in the same boat, but who would you have them going? Lomu. Ooh, offensive line. Oh, yeah. Left tackle. I’m actually going to go opposite here. I’m going to stay on the line. I’m just going to go defensive line.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you sure? I mean, they need a left tackle.
SPEAKER 13 :
I guess I’m not entirely.
SPEAKER 06 :
They’ve been dealing with some injuries. Their left tackle was not a good situation down the stretch.
SPEAKER 13 :
I do remember. Well, I agree. I think what they’ll do, Andy, is the problem. Or do you like Woods? I would say I like Woods here because I think, like we were talking about, the defensive line and the offensive line are deep in this draft, and to me it’s going to go back to who do they think they have later in the second that is available because I believe they have a second-round pick this year because they got that from the Bills for the receiver, for D.J. Moore.
SPEAKER 06 :
Look, you’re not going to get a Lomu or a Woods later in the draft. However, I do believe defensive tackle looks very good in the second round.
SPEAKER 13 :
I’m going to go Peter Woods here, defensive tackle out of Clemson. All right, Andy, you are up with the Bills. They have a first-round pick, and they need a few helpful pieces there for old Josh Allen.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, and I don’t like any of the wide receivers who are there at this point. The wide receivers have been cleaned out. The first-rounders have been cleaned out. They’re gone. The Bills need a wide receiver. They’re gone. The edge players that are there right now are not good. They’re not worth taking. I think they’re in a tough position. I’m going to throw a name out here for you, Andy. Man, I do not like— Widebacker.
SPEAKER 13 :
Who? Rodriguez.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s awfully high.
SPEAKER 13 :
I agree. But again, remember we talked about.
SPEAKER 06 :
How are they at cornerback? What about McCoy? What about we stop his fall?
SPEAKER 13 :
I mean, I think they’re really healthy at cornerback, but I could see it. Again, this is a position in which teams are willing.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did they have Harrison? They took him last year. Well, they didn’t take him last year. Before that. Year before, yeah. The speedster. But look, I just think it’s a reach. I like Rodriguez. I do, but I put him at the top of the second round.
SPEAKER 13 :
He just feels kind of like a Bills guy, doesn’t he?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, he does feel like a Bills guy, but it’s just a reach. It’s a reach. They don’t need an offensive lineman, and there are tons of offensive linemen right there. They need to trade down. I mean, I agree with you, but who’s coming up? You know what? Let’s do a trade. Okay. The Patriots. Oh, the Patriots. They need an offensive tackle. Look what happened. Oh, Lomu. Yes. The Patriots are going to move up and take the Bills pick.
SPEAKER 13 :
The only thing I’m going to tell you there, Andy, is I say division.
SPEAKER 06 :
You don’t think they care?
SPEAKER 13 :
I mean, I disagree.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, I think the Bills need value, and so the Patriots are going to overpay. They’re going to give them something good. They’ll give them a pick next year to move up.
SPEAKER 13 :
Okay, what are they going to give them, Andy?

Next year’s second.

Next year’s second to move up. Just five picks. Five picks.

Okay, let’s see what our thing says. They say likely except… Yep, I’m going to go with it. All right, so there we go. Patriots trade Patriots. They take Lomu at the pick. I like it, Andy. It helps them in multiple ways. Okay. So I’m with that one. All right, let’s see here, Andy. I am now up next with the 49ers, right? Yeah. Oh, let’s see here. Let’s see here. What does Kyle Shanahan do? Actually, Andy, Loma was going to be my pick there.

Well, there’s a couple others. You got Blake Miller out of Clemson. You got Ionicor out of Arizona State.

I mean, Arizona, they’re in a good place. They need an offensive lineman, and you got two. You get your choice.

You know what? I’ll take Blake Miller out of Texas. Or out of Clemson, I mean. Okay. I like that pick. And I think we can sneak one more in before our break. So you’re up. Houston Texans, pick 28.

So here’s your run on offensive linemen you’re talking about, huh?

Oh, something like that. Our Rush to Chaos. We’ll just have them take a punter here, then call it good. No. I am on the clock. You’re correct, Andy. The Chiefs are up with their second pick that they traded with the Rams. I tell you, that dump button’s looking more and more… Promising. Andy, it’s interesting here because there’s a couple good corners here that are available. But they already took one. They already took a corner. But wait a minute, wait a minute.
SPEAKER 06 :
What about bookend corners? The Broncos, the reason the Broncos are probably entering this season as the number one team in the AFC is because of their bookend corners.
SPEAKER 13 :
Okay, I don’t think that’s going to happen, but Andy, that’s actually a really fascinating point of imagine if the Chiefs went and took with their two first-round picks two corners that they feel like they could be. I mean, you don’t hardly ever see that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 13 :
Two players at the same position in the same round.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, because you’re sitting here with… Much less the first round. Yeah, you’ve got Colton Hood, but you’re also sitting here with Jermod McCoy, cornerback out of Tennessee. Now, he… Missed the entire year. Had he not missed the entire year, he likely would have been the number one corner and a top 10 pick. Easily a top 10 pick, actually. All right? So the question is, how bad is the injury? and it would be interesting if they took physically the two best corners in the draft. On the other hand, what if they took McNeil-Warren, the safety out of Toledo, who’s terrific?
SPEAKER 13 :
I was going to say, to me, Andy, this feels – I just don’t see a team, and part of this is what we talked about before – making the picks that we think they’re going to make versus what we would make. I actually love the idea in being bold as a GM and taking two bookend corners, get them on a fifth-round option. You’ve got the ability to kind of stick them out there. They learn together. They blossom together. And you do have some talent out there. I said it before. If the Broncos were picking the next pick, I would have had them taking Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, the safety out of Toledo. Well, Chiefs need a safety. I was going to say, I’m going to have the Chiefs do that because, to me, that’s what I feel like – That’s the direction that they would go. So with that, Andy, you are up with the Broncos pick, which is now in the Dolphins’ hand. And they do need a – because we had the Dolphins take. Who did we have the Dolphins take, Andy? We had them take Bain Jr. Right. So they need a corner. And then after this, it’s Buffalo, right? It is because we traded. You are correct.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Okay. Look, they need everything. They need a cornerback badly. Now, I was going to have them trade out and, you know, trade back in the second round and let Arizona get their quarterback.
SPEAKER 13 :
I’ve got a spot for that for you.
SPEAKER 06 :

Nope, I’ve got another one.

Seattle? Yep. Okay. Well, I’m not going to do that. I’m going to go with a corner, but I’m going to ask you to help me here. Do you take the risk on Jermod McCoy? And these guys are both from Tennessee, okay? Jermod McCoy, who is the freak, okay? He’s 6’1″, almost, and is a sub 4’4″, and by the way, can play football. This guy is a tremendous player. corner, but he was out all year with an injury, or do you take the safe pick in Colton Hood?
SPEAKER 13 :
To me, Andy, I go McCoy. And the reason I do is simply because of the position that the that the that the Dolphins are in.
SPEAKER 06 :
Let’s do it.
SPEAKER 13 :
Because to me, I feel like they’re in the position of they’re rebuilding. And so if they granted you want first round picks to hit. But this is the time to take a swing. Right. If that guy you can get him at pick 30 and he comes in and boils, you know, really blossoms into a player.
SPEAKER 06 :
You got to steal. Look, we’ll say it right now. Jermod McCoy is a top ten talent easily, not just in this week draft. He’s a top ten talent in any draft.
SPEAKER 13 :
I agree.
SPEAKER 06 :
Let’s take him.
SPEAKER 13 :
Okay, I like it. Miami gets Jermod McCoy. I think if this does happen, I think the Bills could look to trade down again because I do think that, like we were talking about, Arizona wants to come up. However, in this case. What do they need? What do the Bills need?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 13 :
The Bills need edge, which means they’re going to go with the Missouri kid. Who is? Zion Young out of Missouri.
SPEAKER 06 :
What about Cassius Howell out of Texas A&M?
SPEAKER 13 :
Again, I think in this case, to me, I don’t know how the Bills have him ranked. And so to me… I like them both.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, they’re both ranked roughly the same.
SPEAKER 13 :
Correct.

That’s why I asked.

And to me, I think it’s kind of the flip of the coin.

So I’m just going to go with Zion, honestly, just because he’s kind of first up on the list here. But just know, folks, when we’re talking Bills, we’re going to talk pass rushers. Good player. I like Zion Young. All right, Andy. Seahawks are up defending Super Bowl champions. Trade. Okay, there you go.

No, no, no. Here’s the thing. Really quick, if they stick and pick, it’s going to be Colton Hood. Corner. Because they could use another corner. Okay. They definitely could. But Arizona’s going to overpay. I don’t even know what they’re going to give, but Arizona’s going to… Well, then again, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. They don’t have to come up too high, Andy. Well, here’s what Arizona’s worried about, though. They’re worried if they wait until the second round to get their cornerback, that the Giants or someone like that, not the Giants, I’m sorry, but that Cleveland or the Jets, the Jets are ahead of them, and the Jets need a quarterback. Okay? So they do have to trade ahead of the Jets.
SPEAKER 13 :
I mean, I think the Jets do, but like you say, because I think the Jets do have the top pick in the second round. They do.
SPEAKER 06 :
So the Jets could, look, if the Jets, let’s put it this way. If nothing happens here, the first pick of the second round, the Jets are going to take that quarter.
SPEAKER 13 :
They’re going to go to quarterback. Or maybe the Jets try to get up and move up one spot. I think the Cardinals do try to come up, and they give them – I mean, honestly, I don’t even think they need to give them – I think they can give them like a six-round pick. They’re going up two spots.
SPEAKER 06 :
No. If you’re the Seahawks, you say, we really like Colton Hood. Boy, we like that Colton Hood. We want a third.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, to me, I go 104, which I believe is their fourth round pick. I think that’s where they settle. That’s if it’s fair. If you’re the Seahawks, do you want to be fair? You don’t want to, but here’s the deal with the Seahawks. They only have four picks. You’re Donald Trump. They’re Iran. They only have four picks, though. The Seahawks simply need picks this draft. They don’t care that it’s – I mean, obviously, they would love a third, but I think that’s too much for the Cardinals.
SPEAKER 06 :
If I’m the Seahawks, I look at them and I say, look – The Jets, look, we’re already being offered by the Jets. They’ll give us their fourth to come up one pick to keep you out of here. You’re going to have to give us your third.
SPEAKER 13 :
I mean, if I’m the Cardinals, I say no because I think that you’re – Yeah, because Ty Simpson’s not that guy to me. I think this is a reach by them. I think they’re going to throw a dart at it and see if he is the guy. Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
You call the bluff. We’ll say the Cardinals do it. They give the fourth. They move up. They take Ty Simpson. That’s the end of the first round. I like that.
SPEAKER 13 :
The end of the first round. Well, you tell me. What do you think of Ty Simpson?
SPEAKER 06 :
I think he’s a good pick at this place because you want the fifth-year option. Okay. I think he reads the field very well. He can make all the throws. Okay. But he doesn’t have a lot of experience, so you’re taking a risk. But can he do it all? I mean, on paper, if this guy keeps developing, he’s a very good player. Actually, he looks a lot like your quarterback. He does. But the question is, we already know Bo Nix has arrived. Ty Simpson, we don’t know.
SPEAKER 13 :
You are correct. I mean, I think he’s really athletic. I think he’s a smart player. I think that…
SPEAKER 06 :
He’s the total package without the track record. Correct. Yet. Correct. Had a nice year, but that’s one year.
SPEAKER 13 :
Correct.

What do you think?
SPEAKER 13 :
I agree with you. I think either way, to me, they’re just throwing a dart because based on how this draft has fallen, they have a pick. Well, they actually got New Orleans’ pick next year, which is fantastic. I think they have another second or third rounder next year, which, again, we keep talking about the 2027 draft.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, you agree. You agree. If they don’t do this, the Jets are taken.
SPEAKER 13 :
I think the Jets are taking him, but I think for the Cardinals, in their mind, let’s jump up, get our first rounder. It’s essentially the same as the second rounder. If he pans out, you’ll probably know this year. You have Jacoby Brissett, who’s I think a very serviceable quarterback for them to kind of finish off the season or to go through the season, and then you throw him in. Although the one thing I hate, Andy, is I think quarterbacks need reps. They do. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think you want to throw a guy behind a poor line.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, but you’ve got to keep in mind – By midway through the season, you’re out of it, and you don’t care about wins. You’re going to put him in, and Brissette’s going to be pulled. True. So he’s still going to get a half season, so he’ll be fine. Okay.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, I do like it for the Cardinals. All right, Andy. With that said, first round, we’re going to do big takeaways here in a second. However, I have to get your opinion before we end this segment because we actually haven’t talked about this a lot at all. Mike Rabel and the controversy that is that.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, I have not even looked at it. What’s going on again?
SPEAKER 13 :
So did you see Vrabel? They found the pictures, the paparazzi pictures of him and Diana Rossini, the reporter for The Athletic. They were at an adults-only deal. They were kind of holding hands. Both of them are married, right, obviously, to other people. Nice knowing you, Mike. Bye. So he just kind of came out, and he did a press conference prior to the draft. And what’s he doing?
SPEAKER 06 :
He’s done.
SPEAKER 13 :
He’s done. He’s still the coach. She resigned from her position. Now you fire him.
SPEAKER 06 :
You fire him. You can’t look. First of all, it’s not like there aren’t other good coaches.
SPEAKER 13 :
But Vrabel’s a good one. He’s a very good one. Vrabel’s a good one. I’m sorry, but I fire him. I’m with you. It was my wife and I were talking about this.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because how can he look at these partying young players and say, hey, You keep it together.
SPEAKER 13 :
You don’t get too wild. I don’t disagree. So here’s the thing. They’ve asked the NFL, or they asked Goodell if they’re going to do anything, and Goodell said, this is a team matter.
SPEAKER 06 :
threw it back at him.
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s not a violation of the personal… So they wanted him to take care of it. Correct. They wanted him to suspend him or whatever. And I think it’s obviously an interesting dilemma that’s going on. And then also, Rabel stepping away from the team on Saturday for counseling on day three of the draft. Fine.
SPEAKER 06 :
Whatever. Okay, look, if they’re going to keep him, keep him, but I wouldn’t. Because I don’t know how you coach after that.
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s hard because you’re holding yourself to a certain standard and your players to another standard. And as a leader, you can’t do that.
SPEAKER 06 :
I just think it’s going to be really hard. What would you do?
SPEAKER 13 :
I mean I’m with you. I think that when it kind of comes – I mean it is a personnel matter and there’s some stuff going on. I mean there was pictures that came out today of them back during COVID sharing an intimate moment in a bar in New York City.
SPEAKER 06 :
So this is longstanding.
SPEAKER 13 :
This has been a longstanding thing. Obviously they’ve had a relationship for a while.
SPEAKER 06 :
Look, here’s the bottom line. I understand that you’re going to have people listening right now who are saying, this has nothing to do with coaching. This has nothing to do with this job. You’re judging. You’re judging. You’re being terrible guys. I’m telling you what, folks, it has a lot to do with this job because he’s got to keep all these young 25-year-olds in line. I think it’s going to be hard. I’m just talking about the job. I’m not even talking about what I think of his morals. I’m talking about the job.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, I don’t disagree. I mean, secretly, outside of the damage that he’s done to his family and she’s done to her family and everything else, selfishly, it’s like, okay, Patriots, you’re going to have to go to Josh McDaniels on this short term, and I know what he’s going to do to our organization. So you’re rooting for it. I’m rooting for that, but I agree with you in the sense that I think that they do have to take a stand and kind of send a message. Fire him or suspend him, I think, are… Fair questions. I just don’t know what I would do. I guess I wouldn’t be in that. I’m not Robert Kraft, so I’m not sure. But with that, we’re going to come back, Andy. I want your top three takeaways of our draft, of course, and then I want some things for folks to look out for tonight if they decide to watch. Okay. Well, how about we go back and forth?

Things to look for tonight.
SPEAKER 13 :
Okay, things to look for.
SPEAKER 06 :
I think the number one thing to look for is the Cowboys. I think they are in a terrible position where if they wait until 12, they desperately need defense, and they may well not get it. Look, I had them taking Tyson because they were in a bad spot. What about the Cowboys trying to move up? I think they desperately are trying. And they’ve got the 20th they can trade to do it.
SPEAKER 13 :
I was going to say, some of the stuff I was looking at before, and it didn’t happen in our draft, but that Titan spot, number four, I could absolutely, to get in front of the Giants, because obviously, again, we talked about in-division trades are really hard to do, and you’ve got the Titans.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because they want styles.
SPEAKER 13 :
You’re correct. And I could see them going styles, and I think he is that player. You’ve got to give up a lot, though. 12-4? Yeah. You’re going to have to give up both first rounders.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, 12 and 20 to go up to number four. Now, if you’re Tennessee, if I’m Tennessee, I say yes.
SPEAKER 13 :
Tennessee, you need help. You need a lot of help.
SPEAKER 06 :
You need help in a lot of places. Look, here’s one thing I would say could be different than what we did. Dallas gives up their 12 and 20 to go up to number four and take Sonny Stiles. And Tennessee says, thank you very much. And they get two players instead of one.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yeah, they do. Well, in a weak draft, Andy, again, I think that you’re looking for a lot of teams are looking to move back, while at the same time, I don’t know how many teams are looking to move up. But I think there’s a certain segment of the draft, and to me, it’s between that four and eight window where I think teams are looking to move up because they know that the drop-off after, again, after, well, I would say… after the first five or six slots is pretty severe.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, so give me something. What would you say, because I’m going to tell people tonight, first thing I would look for is Dells. What do they do? What do you think?
SPEAKER 13 :
To me, the first thing I look for today or tonight is, well, we kind of talked about it, which is chaos. And not just through traits. Right. Not just through… Players, because I actually think you might see some reports of that, of a player being traded, even potentially for the Broncos. I would just say look for, and by chaos, Andy, I’m going to say movement. Look and watch for the movement in the draft to see how exciting, or I guess not exciting, but to see how eventful the draft might be. Because that is what causes teams to shift, and it causes things to shift in real time, right? It causes the Giants to maybe take a player that they shouldn’t take. And we had folks who, if you weren’t here in the first hour of the show, we had Angry Andy, because you were so upset. Yeah. Movement, chaos, causes angry Andy. Because it causes teams to reach for players that maybe they weren’t planning on reaching for. And that, to me, is probably the biggest thing to look out for tonight. And the second thing, in my opinion, I guess on a Broncos standpoint, is we know what the Raiders are going to do. Watch what the Chiefs do. um do they stick defense do they go defense side of the ball and go edge go corner um which i think you and i’ve decided they’re for sure going to go corner or do they take a left tackle do they go or do they go get some help from a homes whether it be on the line or whether it be in the form of a receiver because keep in mind racy rice for the chiefs has got another you know situation going on uh xavier worthy i think is i don’t know if he’s gone or what if kate falls What if Tate falls? Well, I do think Tate will fall potentially to them. So what’s your kind of second major takeaway?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, actually, you took mine because I was going to say the Chiefs. First of all, I’d watch the Cowboys, and secondly, I’d watch the Chiefs because I think they could absolutely go offensive tackle or they can go corner. And they’re going to have two great ones, or they could go pass rusher and take Bain. They literally have three directions they can go. And with what the Chiefs do, it’s going to change the next 10 picks and how they play out. And so I think the Chiefs are going to be really interesting tonight. I think that another thing I would really look at is, of course, the Giants. All right. Do the Giants take a big reach at number five and just take the wide receiver Tyson, who’s had all the injuries but is so good? Or do they do as we said and take Sonny Stiles? OK, or does love fall to them? And do they say, let’s take another great running back this time. We’ve got a better offensive line that we can put in front of this Saquon. OK, and take Jeremiah Love. OK, so I think what the Giants my next one would say be what the Giants do at five and ten is going to be very interesting. What do you think?
SPEAKER 13 :
I was I think we’re going to kind of boil it because we’re we’re kind of saying the same thing just in different ways, which is teams with multiple picks. Watch what they do. Because they have more control. And it goes into my final point, which is we kind of got to it in the earlier part of the show. And so, again, folks, if you’re around whatever it is tomorrow, you’re at breakfast or you’ve got a coworker that’s asking, did you watch and you want to kind of sound really smart? This is, I guess, my biggest takeaway. See how many picks are traded in this year’s draft tonight as compared to in future drafts, namely next year’s draft. Because as we said, Andy, next year’s draft is a lot better. There’s a lot deeper players. And I don’t think a lot of teams, especially the forward-looking teams, are looking to give that up. Or on the flip side to that, Andy, maybe currency. Because usually in future drafts, it’s kind of like inflation, right? Future drafts are worth less than the current draft. What I mean by that is if you’re going to trade a second round pick in this year’s draft, it requires almost like a first round pick next year. Right. Right. And vice versa. Right. If you want to, if you want a third round pick in this year’s draft, you have to trade a second, right? Because the pick now is more valuable than the pick next year. And, but in this case, I wonder if the value is higher because next year’s draft is so high. And so it’s almost like, can a third rounder next year gets you a second rounder this year?
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, here’s my last thing. Look for the best player available versus the reaches versus going for position. And our biggest example, I think, was the Chargers. I have them reaching on TJ Parker rather than taking the best player available, which is an offensive tackle because they got two coming back. That was a reach. I’m predicting they’ll do something I don’t want them to do. I would have taken an offensive tackle there because the best players there were offensive tackles.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
But that is what I would look at is a number of teams, are they going to reach or are they going to go for the best player?
SPEAKER 13 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I think the Chargers are a key example of that. What do you think?
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, and I think that’s the last thing I would say there, Andy, is look at the— Dallas, too. Well, and look at the well-run teams, because I think that they will play to the strength of this draft. Right. Which we talked about is offensive line. Yeah. There’s some good linebackers in this draft. There’s some good defensive line. There’s some good edge players. And look at those teams that they maybe they don’t need. As you were just talking about, they don’t need a specific player. Right. They don’t need an offensive tackle. you mentioned for the Broncos, right? Of maybe something instead of trading for Jalen Waddle, maybe we tried to upgrade offensive guard or something of that nature. But if something’s available and the value’s there, look for a team to do that. And I would kind of echo your sentiments in that way and say, look for what I guess you would deem maybe the smart teams to do, which to me is go after the strength of the draft. And even though you may have a player in that current position, you still go and continue to accumulate talent at that position.
SPEAKER 06 :
I agree. Here’s my last word. Yes. By getting Jalen Waddell, Denver enters this season once again as the number one team in the AFC.
SPEAKER 13 :
I hope so. I hope so.
SPEAKER 06 :
I really think they do.
SPEAKER 13 :
I know you and I are both pessimistic about our teams generally, that the fans in us. I hope so. Because to me, the Broncos have the potential with their coach, with their roster, with their makeup, at least for the next few years until they have to start paying Bo. And that wonderful defense.
