In this week’s episode of ‘The Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review,’ we dive deep into the ongoing unrest in Minneapolis, exploring the multifaceted debates surrounding immigration enforcement and civilian rights. As tensions flare, the show analyzes critical reactions from media personalities and public figures including President Trump and Minneapolis officials. Join us as we unravel the complexities of these socio-political skirmishes and their implications on national dialogue.
SPEAKER 06 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday, January 30th. Can you believe it? January almost gone already. This week, we cover all angles of the unrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the eye of the storm in the debate over immigration enforcement. Over this past weekend, as you know, the confrontations between federal officers and protesters resulted in another tragic death. You know what makes the Minneapolis story so tricky, so difficult, so complicated, is that a bunch of things can be true at once. I walked into the studio after listening to my pal Mark Davis in Dallas, and Mark was pretty critical of Kristi Noem. There are reports that President Trump is unhappy with his… Homeland Security, DHS, top brass, in response to this shooting of the ICU nurse. And, of course, the optics of this are tailor-made for just a Playhouse 90 melodrama. ICU nurse. This guy that shows up to a protest with a loaded 9mm gun. and winds up getting shot repeatedly by Border Patrol officers. Incidentally, for those who are screaming about abolishing ICE, ICE didn’t have anything to do with what happened Saturday in Minneapolis. This was a Border Patrol agent. And so I walk into the studio, and I’ve got this text line, and I appreciate getting text messages. One number does it all. 800-655-MIKE. You could call or text. And the text line says, Mike, please tell your big mouth buddy, Mark, shut up over his criticism of Kristi Noem and Kash Patel. Just report the news and shut up his stupid criticism of how our leaders are trying to handle this mess. He sounds like Don Lemon running off about his stupid criticism. And I thought, well, since I largely agree with Mark… I guess this person isn’t going to be too happy with me either. There’s reporting coming from the White House that President Trump himself is not happy with Kristi Noem. We know what Kristi Noem said, essentially that this guy was a domestic terrorist who was planning to massacre scores of federal agents, or something to that effect. I mean, we can play it. I don’t want to pile on. Make no mistake, I’m not… The administration has a real mess on its hands. And I’m not going to ignore the outrageous, irresponsible comments made by the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Fry, and that goofy governor, Tim Walz. I am certainly not going to pretend that it’s a good idea to bring a loaded 9mm to a protest and wind up scuffling with federal law enforcement. But we also can’t escape the awful conclusion that it appears that this guy was killed after he was disarmed. Now, I don’t know why it happened. I don’t know how this happened. There are reports that this particular Sig Sauer 9mm handgun has a propensity to accidentally discharge. And one of the theories is that when one of the law enforcement officers disarmed the guy, the gun accidentally went off, somebody yelled gun, and they pumped the guy full of bullets. Probably a bad shooting. That’s the assessment I got from seven law enforcement officers and officials who I spoke to over the weekend. Seven. I’m not making any of this up. I’ve got no reason to fabricate anything. I’m just telling you what I was told by seven different law enforcement officers or people in supervisory positions. Now, you might be tempted to think that good, well-intentioned people passionately disagree on immigration enforcement, and it’s gotten out of hand. But when you hear this Virginia nurse on TikTok, well, I’m not so sure. I’m thinking about the kind of person who decides to be a nurse. She decides to turn her life and her career over to caring for other people. She’s a nurse. Her name is Melinda Melinda. Melinda works at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia. Apparently, she also works over at Duke University. And Melinda, the nurse, posted a series of videos on TikTok. In fact, one of the videos she posted is her in her nursing scrubs. Again… Think a little bit about her career choice. Think about her path in life. I’m going to be a nurse, ostensibly to care for other people. She decided to make a political statement about law enforcement. Check out Melinda, the nurse from Virginia, and her TikTok videos, which have obviously gone viral.
SPEAKER 09 :
I thought of something good. I think it’s something weird, but, um, sabotage tactic or at least scare tactic. Um, all the medical providers grab some syringes with needles on the end, have them full of saline or succinylcholine, you know, whatever, whatever. That will probably be a deterrent. Be safe. Okay. For today’s resistance tip, I vote, um, anybody got any, uh, poison ivy, poison oak in their yard. Get some of that up with gloves, obviously. Get it in some water. Like a gallon of water. Get some… Get the poison ivy, oak water. And I’m going to put it into a water gun. Aim for… Aim for faces. Hands. Are the single ladies where these ice guys are going have a chance to do something? You know, not without risk, but… Could help the cause for sure. Get on Tinder, get on Hinge, find these guys. They’re around. They’re a nice agent. Bring some X-lax and put it in their drinks. Get them sick. Nobody’s going to die. Just enough to incapacitate them and get them off the street for the next day. Highly easily deniable. You could get sick too. Won’t eat there again. I’m just saying. Let’s get them where they eat. Somebody’s not going to be supporting these guys. Where’s the hotel where they eat? Who makes that breakfast? Let’s find them. Let’s make their lives miserable. I know we’re already trying to keep them awake all night. That’s good. Anything you can do to make the living conditions bad. Talk to the people who work at the places where they are. Hope it’s some ideas. Dead fish. Somewhere in the room hidden.
SPEAKER 06 :
Just stay toxic. Stay toxic, says the nurse. The health care worker. the woman who chose to work in an occupation where she gives life-saving care to strangers. And, of course, she’s been completely exposed. Her identity has been totally revealed. Her nursing license has been posted online. Personal information about her is revealed. Her life is completely shattered. But here’s the thing. This was not a conversation she was having with somebody else that happened to be captured on video. Do you ever stop and think about the process of posting a video for public consumption where you tell the world, I, Melinda, this nurse at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia, want to tell you how to inject ICE officers with a temporary paralysis drug and how to spray poison on them. And it’s not just social media trolls whipping up the anger. It also comes from mainstream sources like the anchor of the evening news, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia. Ari Fleischer wrote, when confronted by law enforcement, Alex Preddy should have immediately complied, kept his hands visible and away from his holster, and he had a duty to say he was carrying a concealed weapon. He would have been temporarily disarmed and probably not even arrested. Carrying a concealed weapon comes with responsibilities, especially during any interaction with the police. That’s all he said. Does that sound crazy to you? Does that sound awful? Does that sound reprehensible? Because that’s exactly the word that Brian Taft, who apparently is the lead news anchor on Channel 6, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia, used in responding to Ari Fleischer. He writes, again, a direct response. He reposted Ari Fleischer, and he responded by saying the following. Utterly reprehensible, but that’s your thing. Is it not possible in your world to acknowledge when something is simply wrong rather than to spin it in such a way to benefit your perceived side? Not everything has two equal sides. unless you see the world in two dimensions. Now, this Brian Taft character, he can have any opinion he wants. In fact, a lot of people would respect the opinion that this was not an appropriate response to Alex Preddy. They’ve seen the video. Look, everybody gets an opinion. He’s the news anchor at ABC6 in Philly. In other words, he’s not like a commentator who does nightly commentary. I used to do that back in the day. A long time ago in a different world, I lived in Albany, New York, and I did a nightly commentary on the 11 o’clock news. I was an opinionated talk show host on the radio in the afternoon, and then at night I’d go over to Channel 6 over there in Albany, and I would do a three-, four-, five-minute commentary every night. I’m an opinion guy. I’m not a journalist. I’m not a newsman. I’m not a guy that’s supposed to read the news straight. This is the news anchor. Can you imagine what the news must sound like every night coming from that guy? And look, I’m sure in his mind, he thinks he’s giving some kind of virtuous response. He calls Ari Fleischer’s belief that when you are confronting law enforcement, and if you’re armed, keep your hands visible, you have a duty to tell the law enforcement officers you have a concealed weapon. Carrying a concealed weapon comes with responsibilities. This news anchor in Philly thinks that’s reprehensible? Does he not think that you have responsibilities when you’re carrying a concealed weapon to a protest? And according to, texts are coming in from Philly. Here’s the Jersey Shore. Brian Taft is the lead anchor on Channel 6 ABC, which is the highest rated newscast in Philadelphia. He is a lunatic, far-left-wing nutjob who puts on his fake announcer’s voice. He should be suspended for that post. Well, all I know is viewers to ABC6 in Philly ought to know exactly what you’re getting when he’s reading the news. How could you ever expect? I mean, it’s a big station. I’m sure it’s a big market. One of the top media markets in America. I guess he’s got writers. But do you think he reads things on the teleprompter that he disagrees with? Of course not. Meanwhile, Combat Vet and Fox News Channel commentator Joey Jones offered this clear-eyed view of the tragic events in Minneapolis over the weekend. And so Joey Jones, who is the veteran who lost his legs in combat and is a regular on Fox News, he was filling in for Greg Gutfeld. And I’m just so glad that Jessica Tarloff was on the set with him when he launched into this epic monologue about his analysis of the events of Minneapolis involving the shooting death of Alex Preddy. Let’s listen together to Joey Jones last night on Fox News Channel’s The Five.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s a couple of things. Number one, the Second Amendment is a right. I’m not a Second Amendment absolutist. You have the right to carry a weapon to defend yourself, not the privilege. It is a right. Those rights come with restrictions. I think you would understand that more than anyone at this table. One of those restrictions is you have to have your ID and your permit on you. We don’t know. Current reports are he didn’t have either one of those on, at which point he’s not carrying legally. But number two, even beyond that, with the right to carry a firearm comes the responsibility to do it correctly and to do it with foresight. And to do it understanding the situation you’re walking into and what could happen once you get there. Just about every state offers a class on that. And if you carry your firearm, you should take that class. And if your state charges you for it, you should go protest for that class to be taxpayer funded because it is a right. So that’s important. We can talk about policy all day long. There’s only one person in this world. that could have absolutely prevented Alex Pretty from getting shot that day. And it’s Alex Pretty. Doesn’t mean I think he should have been shot. I don’t think it was necessary whatsoever to shoot Alex Pretty to save a life. But I get to watch that incident from behind Alex Pretty, not as one of the arresting officers and not as potentially the person that I believe from looking at the video did shoot him. Why does he have 10 rounds in him? Because if you have to shoot anybody once, you better shoot them enough to kill them because if you’re shooting somebody, you think they’re trying to kill you. Every police officer in this country is taught that. If you want to change that, go lobby to have it changed. Why was he shot? He was shot because of the reasonableness clause, the reasonableness doctrine. The Supreme Court decided this, which is the fact that if you are a police officer conducting police work and someone has, and it’s explicitly outlined, someone has resisted arrest, or not disobeyed orders and shown the means to harm you, then you have the ability to protect yourself. Now, do I think he should have been shot? No, because I see 10 things that happened before that happened that could have been handled differently. But what I don’t see are the 10 minutes before that happened. You call him a protester. I call him an agitator. He showed up with a cell phone. He showed up in the middle of the street in the middle of an operation. That’s common sense, right? I don’t care what your passions are. To carry a weapon on your person and to get in the middle of a police operation, whether you believe it or not, that is lawful 100%. Another way it could have been prevented is if there was a police cordon from Minneapolis Police Department stopping people from, like Alex Pretty, from getting in the middle of the operation rather than holding a sign and speaking loudly and proudly from 100 feet away. That is the end of the story. There might even be a federal agent that goes to jail because some jury or a federal investigation decides he acted prematurely or shot him and shouldn’t have. I’m not arguing or disputing that because I haven’t seen the investigation. But I know for a fact Alex Priddy had no business where he was in that moment. I know for a fact that he did resist arrest. And if you are carrying lawfully, the moment you resist arrest, you are now carrying unlawfully to the point that in the state of Minnesota, your carry permit is revoked in that moment. So the point here is nobody’s condemned in this other than the politicians that let it happen. And if for you, that’s Donald Trump. And if for you, that’s Tim Walz. As an American citizen, I’m glad both of them talked today. This doesn’t ever need to happen again. Border Patrol agents need to get to the border and do their job. Minneapolis Police Department, all 600 of them, if they need to, need to be there to help. I surgically extract people like, what’s his name, Jose Huerta Chuma, who is a violent rap sheet that includes domestic assault involving intentional bodily harm. I don’t care who you are in this country, but if you’re willing to risk your life for that person, whatever happens to you, my sympathy goes down quite a bit. I don’t want anybody to get hurt. I love people. I even love bad people. But for God’s sake, have some common sense. That’s your responsibility, especially if you’re carrying a weapon. And that was not exercised, and I can’t help that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Powerful, powerful commentary from Joey Jones. Isn’t he right? Isn’t every word of that spot on? This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. After all the chaos, President Trump and Governor Walz got a call and now they claim things will get better. There is something changing in Minneapolis. No more stand down orders to the local police. appears that local law enforcement is now on the ground helping federal law enforcement keep the peace. Brendan Dilley over at X says President Trump was right again. Everyone’s saying he caved to Tim Walz is eating a massive crap sandwich today. You all panikins can pound salt. Trump’s pressure, evidently, according to another poster on X, Gunther Eagleman, says Trump’s pressure is working. Tim Walz and company finally got the message. Look, I don’t know who’s going to claim victory, who’s going to act like they were defeated. Tom Holman headed to Minnesota to take over the immigration operation there. Don’t forget, Tom Holman was given a massive award there. by Barack Obama. So it’s going to be kind of hard to characterize Tom Holman as a Republican operative. But something has to give, and it sounds like it is. It sounds like it’s already working. Now, if things simmer down in Minneapolis, if things get better, And it is a result of waltz and fry and Trump having conversations, having discussions, having a strategy. You okay with that? I talked to a caller, Dean, in Kentucky who said, I’m tired of rolling over for these lunatic leftists. We’ve got to fight. We’ve got to fight, fight, fight. And I asked him, I said, would you want things to de-escalate in Minneapolis? And, you know, he danced around it, but essentially the answer was no. Why should we try to get along with these people? Why should we let the mob win? So you know what I want to do? I want to turn this show over to you. I want to get a bunch of phone calls and find out how you feel about President Trump’s last 24 hours as it applies to Minneapolis. Sending Tom Holman, the border czar, to Minneapolis. Talking to Tim Walz, saying that we had a productive conversation. Making nice with Jacob Fry, the mayor of Minneapolis. I told you yesterday, Trump has a rare ability to pivot when you don’t think he will. But without a doubt, he’s pivoting now. There is a pivot going on. You may not describe it that way. You may not like what’s happening. And I want to know. 800-655-MIKE. I want to know what you think of the turn of events. And now, if you’re on social media, you’re seeing all of these reports of local law enforcement now cooperating with the feds to lower the temperature. After all of this, there’s at least one big question that deserves an answer. Why do all these riots and unrest and even death seem to only happen in Minneapolis? dawn on anybody that these things keep happening in one city? How many people have you seen shot and killed during an immigration enforcement operation in Chicago? Or New York? Or LA? Or Memphis? Or Dallas? Or Atlanta? I wonder why it keeps happening in Minneapolis. Steve Scalise, the congressman from Louisiana, appeared on CBS with Margaret Brennan yesterday. He had some choice words for why this is happening in the state of Minnesota and in the city of Minneapolis.
SPEAKER 10 :
You don’t see these numbers either, though. When we looked, for example, at the federal response in New Orleans, I mean, it’s just a fraction of the number of federal agents. Nearly 3,000 is quite a lot for a city the size of Minneapolis.
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, that’s because they didn’t get resistance in cities like New Orleans where, you know, when you look in Minneapolis and I just listened to the chief and you could hear him lamenting four times. I think he said that they’re strapped so thin. And let’s keep in mind, Minneapolis is a city that defunded their police. That’s not the chief’s fault. That’s the failed Democrat leader’s fault. But at the same time, when they defund the police, that leaves the chief stretched thin. And so he was made a decision not to assist ICE.
SPEAKER 06 :
By the way, that chief, he’s a piece of work, Brian O’Hara. And I’ve not quite figured out what his story is. I believe he’s from New Jersey. I think his wife, isn’t his wife law enforcement in Jersey? How does that work? How are you the police chief of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and your wife is a detective or a cop or somebody in New Jersey? Do they go back and forth? How does that even work? Here he was, and I loved what somebody pointed out about how rich it is, how delightful it is to see the left all of a sudden fall in love with the Second Amendment. Since Alex Preddy had a loaded handgun, now all of a sudden they’re celebrating the Second Amendment.
SPEAKER 04 :
This is an individual that was a city resident. It appears that he was present exercising his First Amendment rights to record law enforcement activity and also exercising his Second Amendment rights to lawfully be armed in a public space in the city. So I think very obviously there are serious questions that are being raised. And I think the greater issue is Even if there is an investigation that ultimately proves that at the time of the shooting it was legally justified, I don’t think that even matters at this point because there is so much outrage and concern around what is happening in the city.
SPEAKER 06 :
None of that even matters. The merits of this don’t even matter because there’s a lot of outrage. If there’s outrage, well, that should carry the day, as long as there’s outrage. And this is why Trump is in a bad position. Because if anybody is unwilling to tuck tail and run, it’s going to be Donald Trump. Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar was accosted at an event this week and sprayed with some mysterious liquid that turned out to be apparently apple cider vinegar. So why are so many people doubting the veracity of this event? Look at the poll numbers. Let’s see how many people we’ve got. We’ve got like almost 1,000 people so far have voted at MikeOnline.com. Here’s the percentage. Are you ready for this? 94% of people voting at the Mike Gallagher Show poll as to whether or not the Ilhan Omar event last night was staged or not, 94% have voted it’s staged. Only 6% think it was real. Wow. Now, look. If it’s legit, it’s a terrible thing. If it’s legit, it’s one more example of how awful our discourse has become, how awful the atmosphere is in America. Nobody should, no congressperson should have something sprayed on them. Nobody should be assaulted. It’s got to stop. But it’s remarkable how few people think this is legitimate. Michelle’s in Nashville, Tennessee. Michelle, welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show. How are you doing today?
SPEAKER 08 :
Hey, I’m doing great, Mike. Love your show. Glad you’re feeling a little bit better. Thank you. Calling from Nashville, a little north of Nashville. We’ve had no Armageddon hit Nashville.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, no. And I’m so sorry. We’ve got a terrible connection. You sound like a great caller, but you’re real crackly and staticky. Alex, can we even get her a better line or get a better way here and see if we can get her back? Jim is in St. Paul, Minnesota, while we’re working on Michelle. Hey, Jim. How you doing, sir?
SPEAKER 02 :
I would like to think it’s legit, too. I voted no, but I have to qualify that. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I like to investigate these things. I’ve only seen one angle from when that guy was taken down.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 02 :
If he… If it was legit, I would think they would beat an ever-living jeebers out of it. And so I’d like to see another angle on that one.
SPEAKER 06 :
But look, let’s go through this step by step. If it’s legit, and it very well could have been legitimate, this guy could be a Trump supporter who did a ridiculous, stupid, insane, asinine act. What was the substance? Do we know? Did they know in the room? If they didn’t know, why don’t you clear out the room? If you didn’t know, why do you let her stand there speaking? If you didn’t know, why aren’t you taking precautions? And her reaction was pretty remarkable. Look, got to hand it to her. She charged the guy. Let’s play it, Christian, for people watching on Salem News Channel. If you’re not watching this on Salem News Channel, you can see the clip at MikeOnline.com where we have it posted. But here was the moment when 55-year-old Anthony Kazmirzak charged at this lefty congresswoman last night.
SPEAKER 07 :
And DHS Secretary Kristi Noem must resign or face impeachment.
SPEAKER 05 :
You’re not resigning.
SPEAKER 07 :
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I don’t know.
SPEAKER 06 :
I need a napkin. Look, you might need like a hazmat suit. You might want to be taken away and being sprayed down to get whatever horrible substance could have been on you off of you. The whole thing is bizarre. And finally, have you ever used a neti pot? It’s a little more complicated than you think. Your friendly host sure tried it. I have been sick as a dog since I got back from my vacation.
SPEAKER 05 :
How are you feeling?
SPEAKER 06 :
My allergies, not very good, but I did get advice yesterday after I told everybody my story about the neti pot. One of my kids told me about the neti pot, and I tried that. Mark, I had water squirting out of my eyes.
SPEAKER 05 :
Describe to everybody what you heat up, heated liquid, you pour it in one nostril.
SPEAKER 06 :
One nostril, and it’s supposed to go out the other. Yeah.
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s supposed to.
SPEAKER 06 :
Where did it come out of you? It was coming out of places it shouldn’t have come out of. It was coming out of my ears. It was the stupidest thing. I’m moaning. I’m sick. And it’s all because of the stupid allergies that I got on the Disney Castaway Key Island last week. It was windy and there were trees. And when it’s wind and trees, that’s a formula for disaster for me. I have been sick in the bed for about four days. And I thought, I can’t miss the show. There’s too much going on. So people told me yesterday about Navage. Have you heard about Navage? I’ve heard the commercials. Well, that’s better. That’s like a suction thing that kind of automatically puts it up one nostril and comes out the other. You don’t have to worry about it. Because you should have seen me with the neti pot. I was waterboarding myself.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’ll talk. I’ll tell you anything you want to know.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’ll give you any secret you want to know. I was. I was doing it to myself. And you should have seen the water was shooting out everywhere. I couldn’t get it to… I really felt like I was drowning. It was the stupidest thing. Because my kids said, Dad, you got these sinus things. Just try this neti pot. It’ll work.
SPEAKER 05 :
Lisa swears by it. She loves it. Well, tell her to try Navaj. She loves it. She loves the thing. She has no problem with it. Yeah, yeah. Well, that works pretty good. Although it’s still…
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s still a horrible sensation.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I will tell you this, and I will say this a bit. Yesterday, I drove around and had some stuff to do post-show, listen to you. You sounded great, and you’re full of vim and vigor today. It’s drugs. You’ll be good.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s drugs. It’s drugs.
SPEAKER 05 :
Today’s show brought to you by Mucinex.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, now my new fear. Did I ever tell you how years ago I got addicted to nasal spray? You know, you can get addicted to nasal spray.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
And Afrin, years ago when I was doing local TV, I got a cold and I took it for too long. If you take it for too long, it can backfire. Yeah, well, your nose clogs up because it craves it and you’ve got to go cold turkey. And I burst a blood vessel in my nose. I had to go to the emergency room. It was bleeding all over the place. So I thought, well, Vicks Cynex Severe, which is the little spray bottle that I’m taking now, I thought that would be better. Last night before I went to bed, I went to chat GPT. I said, can I get addicted to Vicks Cynex Severe? Oh, absolutely.
SPEAKER 05 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 06 :
If you take more than four days.
SPEAKER 05 :
First one’s free. All the kids are doing it. First one’s free.
SPEAKER 06 :
So I’m a junkie. So I’m a junkie, and I got water coming out my ears from the netting pot.
SPEAKER 05 :
Before you’re in rehab and we have nothing but sub hosts, keep it together. And I’m here for you. There are 12-step programs. I’m here for you.
SPEAKER 06 :
